Day 10 || “Magic Exhaustion”

As soon as the portal snapped shut, the boy collapsed. 

He was the last of the survivors to come through, the portal flickering dangerously as he stumbled into the diner, exhaustion and adrenaline clinging to his stocky figure. The stench of blood, grease, and hamburger meat hung in the air, nauseating to the new arrivals. Without the portal for illumination, the room was much darker and unsettling, casting a gloomy shadow over the other teenagers.

A fitting mood, for what they had just escaped from.

The rest of the group was scattered about, shaky and numb as their last connection to the outside world, to Diantha Rose as they knew it, shut off with a blink. Most didn’t pay the final boy’s appearance much attention, too busy as they scrambled to tend to the wounded. But one member in particular was hysterical, leaping to her feet and sprinting to his side. 

“Felix!”

Reagan let out a guttural scream as her brother reappeared, his legs buckling from underneath him almost instantly. She was just quick enough to scoop him into her arms as he crumpled, shivering and cold, the last of his strength sapped from his bones. 

“Felix- Felix, oh my- oh my god.” 

He was wheezing, breaths brittle and weak, barely making it past his lips. His face was scratched and bruised, something she hadn’t been able to notice while in the chaos of the school, running around desperately for an exit. Blood trickled down one of his temples, crimson smearing against his skin. His eyes fluttered, struggling against the waves of exhaustion that had begun to roll over him, the effort of the night finally hitting him. 

He was out before she even had the chance to say another word.

Poesia ‘Poe’ Mercar: (former) Shadow Dragon, now honorary Crow and trophy spouse of the first Talon. Sarcasm, snark, and lifelong trauma bundled into a tiny little stabby package. What a pair they and Lucanis make lol

Nyxeris Ingellvar: Mourn Watcher, mage, loves Emmerich but ended up falling for Davrin instead. (She still considers Manfred her second kid though)

Tarryn Lavellan: Veil Jumper, younger brother to the Inquisitor and Solas’ #1 hater. Has had a crush on Harding since the days of the Inquisition but found himself falling for Bellara instead of his childhood crush. Would do anything for his sister- including not murdering the Dread Wolf because it’d make her very sad. He still wants to though…

Felix Ingellvar: Mourn Watcher, Spellblade (only resorts to necrotic attacks when he’s really overwhelmed) My precious trans son who loves flustering Emmerich more than just about anything (besides Manfred. He adores his skeleton son). Also a walking gay disaster. (He flirted with virtually every man he met before Emmerich joined the party)

Gideon Thorne: Grey Warden. Fights exclusively with a sword and shield. Bit of a hero complex but that’s why he joined the Wardens- to protect people. Really enjoyed punching the First Warden in the face. He and Davrin are bros. Neve can’t believe she fell for this idiot and neither can he. (Haven’t finished his game yet)

And lastly…..

Nicoletta ‘Nico’ De Riva: Antivan Crow, the younger sister Viago wishes he could forget about. They love each other though. She’s mostly here to be a wise ass and kill people who need killing. Oh and make out with the Demon of Vyrantium. Y’know, important stuff… (Game also unfinished)

So yeah, these are my kiddos. 😊 Thanks for letting me ramble about them for a bit. Wish I had more pictures of Nico but I haven’t been able to play in weeks due to life being a hot mess. Always down to chat about them more if anyone is interested. Cheers!

they aren't rendered or anything (and I didn't do a background) but I hope this gives you a lil sense for his fashion!! it definitely was inspired by the in-game customisations but with a few lil tweaks to make it fit better yknow? or just to add embellishments

I think summer is my favourite cause I get to show off all his adventuring scars! His initial introduction said he doesn't like showing them off but I kinda headcanon Mistria as being very humid and wearing a jacket would kill him

these are autumn + winter!

I kinda worried I made autumn too simple in comparison, but I think that might just be cause I've been staring at forever. winter also feels slightly divergent from the others, and I couldn't decide whether or not it should he should have white or black fur but I'm still pretty happy

Day 17 || “In Another Life”

In another life, he never became friends with January Restall.

He didn’t stay for the first club meeting, or the second. He didn’t accept the sign-up form, didn’t take it home for his sister to sign. He didn’t offer up fake smiles and sweet-as-honey reassurances to his parents, lies slipping from his mouth with a sort of ease he hadn’t been able to manage before.

He didn’t round up Dioles, didn’t grin and laugh and urge Gunther Lim to give him the time of day, to just hear out January for a single second. He didn’t sit alongside twelve other Dioles as they anxiously tested out their powers, didn’t step out of line in the worst way possible. He didn’t break his sister’s only rule, her most important rule.

He didn’t go to January Restall’s mansion within days of knowing him, a certain excitement tugging in his gut, a sort of exhilaration he only ever got to experience around someone as dangerous as the Board Game Club leader. He didn’t practice his powers, didn’t grow comfortable in himself, freedom flowing through his veins in a way that he hadn’t felt since he was seven-years-old. Before his world came crashing down, before he was entrapped to a life of running and hiding and lying. Constantly lying.

He didn’t fight with his sister, the only person who ever had his back, the only person he could trust. He didn’t go behind her and Paisley’s back, didn’t steal medical and personal information, sliding it towards the very boy that was going to end up destroying his life.

He didn’t go to that stupid concert. Didn’t end up on the run. Didn’t fall for the picture-perfect promise of Paradise. Didn’t lose his only family. Didn’t end up in that cabin, the very walls suffocating the air from his throat. Didn’t bring that blade down against his arms. Didn’t scar his body, the relief overpowering the guilt.

He didn’t join the Board Game Club. He didn’t get exposed. He didn’t do any of it. He wasn’t an outcast, hunted and wanted dead. He didn’t lose himself, didn’t lose the only life he had ever known. He never even stepped a foot inside Room 2703.

In another life, Felix was happy.

Normal.
