A lot of my OCs are, like, in a weird state of "you still exist in my head, but I know I probably won't do much with you," so my oldest one(s) that still lives in my head in a way I know they'll see use is probably the ones that wound up accidentally spawning my ASOIAF AU that I use for both a ttrpg setting & a fic that I keep rewriting the plot for every few years 😅 so I guess I'll just do all 4 of the main members of House Araval

🌈 -- What Advice would they give their younger self?

Lord Stanler: Spend more time with your oldest son instead of getting frustrated about him having so little in common with you, it will give everyone fewer complexes if you don't write him off as dumb.

Danielle: You need to stop taking it out on other people if you're upset. You will say things you don't mean just to hurt the other person, and you can't take any of that back. You won't get what you wanted, you'll ruin all your relationships, actually.

Ser Dorian: Your dad actually is as smart as he thinks he is, so you should listen to him.

Bryant: I know you're too sickly to play with the other boys your age, but you've got to stop feeling down about yourself. You're wonderful in spite of this and you're worth more than your garbage health. Your family loves you, & its not just because they have to.

Calypso: Hey, maybe don't punish your bastard brother for existing, it literally isn't his fault. You can only blame your dad, only blaming him is an option. Also, your husband is gonna suck so hard, so prepare for that instead of trying to fall in love with him. That'll set you up for failure in the early stages, just start jaded.

Lord Stanler: Quality time. He loves simply existing in the same room as someone he likes, bonus points if they are doing the same lame, nerd ass, Medieval equivalent to stamp collecting hobby. Not together, but, like, in tandem.

Danielle: Giving gifts & quality time. She shows her affection by presenting you with so, so many expensive things. Fancy jewelry you looked at for .5 secons longer than would be considered a quick glance? That's yours now, she bought it for you. Your favorite wine imported across vast distances? It's already on the way, no need to thank her. If you want to, though, just do the same dork ass loser shit she & her dad like with her.

Ser Dorian: Physical touch & words of affirmation. The members of his Bro Posse™ are just constantly getting slapped on the back & clapped on the shoulder & shit. He's a little more gentle with the physical contact he gives his family, but not by much lol. All he asks in return for his constant physical affection is to maybe tell him something nice about himself. Please reassure him, his need for confirmation someone still liks him is out here picking a fight with him, & this existential worry has hands.

Bryant: Quality time, but in a less loser way than his dad. Bryant wants to have a nice conversation & maybe also do a thing together & not just, like, coexist while acknowledging each other's presence as if he were the human version of a cat.

Calypso: Acts of service & quality time. What she does for you may not be "ethical," but she did it for you, because she loves you. She was being literal when she said she would kill for you, so, y'know...watch what you say, I guess. You don't have to do anything for her in exchange, just spend time with her she is so lonely.

Ahh, thank you! The questions are pretty varried and I think this will be fun!

L1: How have your characters changed since you created them?Oh man, a decent number of them have changed. I think I’ll focus on Calypso Lannister though. She started out as a fairly basic “typical Lannister.” You know, power hungry and selfish and cruel seemingly without reason. She’s definitely more human feeling at this stage though.Her father cheated on her mother and kept his bastard around before disappearing off the face of the earth when he went to go look for the family sword (Brightroar) that got lost thousands of years ago. She was married off to the heir apparent of a House that rivals her own in power & the Lannister/Araval fued is just deep-seated animosity staved off by well timed marriages. Her own husband cheats on her, is emotionally unavailable, and suffers from PTSD that he refuses to address. With all of this her actions are a lot more justified and deliberate beyond “being a bitch.” Calypso just wants to have a stable, & at least somewhat fulfilling, marriage where her husband isn’t an idiot jerk & she has some kind of ally in her sister-in-law’s thinly veiled distaste of her. Granted, their dislike of each other is mutual for various reasons, but she doesn’t get much support.Is Calypso still a bitch? Yeah, kind of. But she has actual reasons for what she does now. She’s a sad, bitter, broken woman who’s barely functional marriage echoes her own parents’ relationship.TBH, I could talk about the family dynamics of House Araval for forever.

L2: What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?Oh man, I’m not sure if any of my characters have themes. At least not, like, literary themes. There’s some costuming themes, and definite progressions to their arcs and personalities. I think the main thing I end up going for is “strong ladies.” I love a strong lady. Hence my appreciations for Sansa & Brienne. Emotionally strong & physically strong ladies are my weakness. So basically 90% of ladies are my weakness. Can I say the theme for all my lady characters is “strong girl, bench press me with your depth of character”

L3: Did you create the character to be like yourself, did they end up being like yourself, or are they different from you?I definitely made a couple to echo parts of myself. Marian Flowers & Shiera Baratheon respectively echo a couple different parts of my personality. And while they definitely succeed in this part of their conception, they’re also super different from me just so they can be their own characters.Marian is a thirsty as fucc dumpster fire of a human who just wants to be involved in what’s going on. She lives for the drama, especially if she’s not involved in it, and you very rarely find her not as part of a “set of three” with her best friends. She is, however, definitely not ace & way less inhibited than I am. And also probably more pronounced of a flaming pile of garbage than meShiera, is an “opinionated screeching harpy” who has gone to great lengths to cultivate a personality of prickly unaproachability. Can’t be shut down and rejected if no one wants to associate with your unpersonable ass, right? Her difference from me is she’s definitely more outspoken/willing to hurl her opinions into the world around people she’s not friends with, & is way more involved in goings on. Like, she definitely knows what’s going on in the world…whereas I’m usually taken by surprise by everything.

L4: Which OC do you think so the most decent morally or behaviorally? AKA, which is supposed to be the “good guy?”I think Aeremera makes a pretty decent candidate for “good guy.” She wants to do right by people and prevent corruption. And she does try very hard to do what she thinks is right, which by all accounts is very good. Her execution can be a bit…not amazing, but she readily learns from her mistakes and makes sure to not do the same thing again. If possible she apologized for causing harm and she prefers peaceful solutions to things. She is convinced to claim thr Iron Throne because she’s told she has the ability undo all the harm caused by previous Targaryen royalty. She then rejects that name not only because of personal reasons regarding her own conception, but to distance herself from the evils caused by House Targaryen’s rule. Is she fully aware how awful House Blackfyre is? Not really, but she is making an effort to right the wrongs done to the people of Westeros in whatever physical and symbolic ways she can.

L5: Which OC do you think so the worst morally or behaviorally? AKA, which is supposed to be the “bad guy?”Oh man…a lot of them. I think Rohar Shield is a pretty “bad guy” though. He’s selfish and manipulative, and very willing to lie in order to get what he wants. He’s not unlike Petyr Baelish in that way, but he hasn’t directly causes anyone’s death. He also hasn’t helped to prevent it either. Running away, alone mind you, to Essos and abandoning your family so you can avoid Robert Baratheon’s justice/anti-Targayen Cusade doesn’t do a lot to ensure your wife, brother, and 1-year-old son live. His brother could have lived and his son does, but again, Rohar abandoned them so he’s literally no help.There’s also the whole “I brought this woman to Aerys fully knowing what was going to happen to her” situation from when he was still part of the Targaryen Court.These are all things that happen prior to my fan fic picking up mind you. He’s still am awful, shitty person then too. Rohar is beyond willing to lie to whoever he thinks he can feasibly prey on in order to get his political position in Westeros back. If Viserys had liked him, he’d have been manipulating him instead of influencing Aeremera.I can guarantee that Rohar Shield wouldn’t feel out of place in a drama about corrupt politicians.

L6: Which OC do you think is the most attractive?All of them, TBH. They’re all attractive. I’m nearly incapable if making an unattractive OC.

L7: What’s the longest you’ve had an OC for?Well, since we aren’t talking in general, 3-4 years. That’s about how long I’ve had at least some version of Lord Stanler, Danielle, Calypso, Dorian, and Bryant Araval.

L8: How did you come up with your OC?Literally 90% of the time it’s ��hey this is a cool idea! Let’s make an OC catered to this idea I had for my fan fic!“
