Daughter of Ares

Jacqueline Cade, who goes by Jackie, is a daughter of Ares and has a brother who is a son of Apollo. Jackie is a bisexual and trans woman, and she speaks Spanish, plays the drums, and can skateboard. She has a scar on her back from accidentally falling into a weapons rack when she was training, and a birthmark shaped like a flower on her collar, which she usually hides.

Two interesting fun facts:

She is a crossover OC between PJO and The Outsiders! She is Johnny Cade's sister, who is (in this au) a son of Apollo.

The system loves that this character is a crossover character!!! It's so cool to see people with crossover characters, since they have a unique kind of depth to them!!

Backstory: WIP

How'd he die: hahah, he's not dead. he's human

A human who had fallen in love with a demon (worked for ozzie; stole a crystal for him, but died when ozzie found out), once gaining the ability to travel to hell / heaven without issues, this caught the attention of the angels and after confronting the human about it, he formed a contract with an angel (he'd be their messenger, keep an eye on things in hell while he got a little bit of angelic power of his own, when using his angelic power his eyes change color); he has a bit of free reign but he constantly needs to check back with them and can be possessed by the angel holding his contract if he doesn't give them what they want. he has a demon disguise.

Backstory: started out as a low level demon, climbed his way to the top with help from charlie/lucifer/???? who had given some of their power to aid in his survival though to keep the power from overtaking him, he had to consume demons of the same level (tho bc he was BORN as a low level demon his body could only handle low level but in order to not be killed from the power within him, he must consume higher level demons that he couldn't end up digesting so they just clutter inside of him... (more on this LATER), but yeah.. demons in his head

I'm making a new pinned post!

I would like to make this explicitly clear that I am a pro ship, pro fiction, whatever you want to call it, blog. I don't post about it much, but I do ship a lot of problematic stuff as a way of coping with my trauma, which often results in some things that may be triggering or uncomfortable. If you are a proship DNI blog, steer clear, or at least leave me alone. I believe in ship and let ship.

That be the said, let's move on to more important things!

I am a system. I have complex OSDDID and haven't fully sorted out exactly what type, but I know I'm a system at the least. I have many blogs (I'll tag them below) for alters, and one normal RP blog for a side character.

@the-arboreal-system is my main system blog. We will not post any shipping or likewise content here, just stuff about systems and political activism (I am a proud extreme leftist).

@kieran-the-panther is my Maine Coon/black panther mix alter. They go by many pronouns and are catgender pansexual polyamorous.

@shadowdemon-girl is Nyx, a trans girl shadow demon, and engaged to Kieran with 12 demon-kittens. She goes by she/it pronouns and is neptunic and polyamorous as well.

@i-wish-i-was-sleeping-rn is one of my MANY fictives, Nico Di Angelo. He (in the system) is gay and trans.

@crystal-creature is another fictive, Hazel Levesque. She is unlabeled as of now.

@son-of-sally-jackson is a Percy Jackson fictive. He is homo flexible.

@daughter-of-wine is my OC and another alter, Lila Garcia. She is bisexual and a daughter of Dionysus.

@jacqueline-cade-daughter-of-ares is another OC alter, and she is a crossover OC between PJO and The Outsiders.

@angel-wings-and-stim-toys is Celine, a little of mine. She is aroace agender and doesn't care about pronouns.

DORM PETS (with my TWST OCs)

Each dorm has an unofficial pet. Not all of them are allowed to be there, but are kept anyway.

Heartslabyul:

Loui- Goat

Alphonse adopted the goat during the start of his third year. Francois tried to stop him from keeping Loui in the dorm, but Alphonse convinced him otherwise. They wanted an excuse to keep him, so Francois went through all of the rules. He didn’t find anything about keeping a goat, however he did find one about a sheep. Now whenever Riddle comes around they just put Loui in a sheep costume and try their best to gaslight convince Riddle that he’s a normal sheep.

Savannaclaw:

Princess- Cat

Princess belongs to Ishir and oh boy does her name fit. She is spoiled endlessly by him. Whatever Princess wants Princess gets. Sometimes when she brings a dead bird or a rodent Ishir will taxidermy it like a trophy. Nagini hates this and thinks it’s creepy. Nagini doesn’t like Princess because he thinks she’s too spoiled. They are enemies, but they will tolerate each other for the sake of Ishir.

Octavinelle:

Marina- Black Piranha

Marina is the beloved pet of Morgan. He makes sure that her tank has plenty of room to swim around. Claude and Derek love to watch her swim. They both love how sparkly she is. Tuck likes to compare teeth with her. They all feed her leftovers from Mostro Lounge (as long as it’s safe for her).

Scarabia:

Connie- Parrot

Connie belongs to Kalim, but Abdul also helps take care of him. Jamil won’t allow any pets in the dorm. He already has too much to deal with. They are both hiding hiding him from Jamil and so far they’re going strong. Abdul is really good with birds and has taught Connie lots of cool tricks.

Pomefiore:

Dino- Lizard

Sunny has been taking care of Dino since he entered NRC. Absolutely loves the little guy. The only problem is that Gigi hates lizards. He’s scared of them. No doubt that he would go tell Vil without a second thought. Sunny showed Dino to Harry and Patchwork under the condition that they would not tell Gigi. They both love Dino.

Ignihyde:

B0E-(Robot) Dog

B0E is an invention made by Neander. He is highly self aware artificial intelligence. He acts like a real dog, but there’s never any mess! B0E is Neander’s pride and joy. Ares likes to sew little outfits for him. Janus has shown B0E on his livestreams a few times. He just wants to share with the world his brother’s cool invention.

Diasomnia:

Charolette- Spider

Charolette has been Cade’s pet spider even before he came to NRC. The entire Trick-or-Treat trio loves her to their hearts’ content. They even made her their official group mascot. She usually just chills in Cade’s pocket.

31 and 40 for both Arcade (who's basically an adopted OC of yours by this point lmao) and River?

(jhfjhf you’re the second person to say that to me...but you’re right lol) 31.  Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing? Arcade: He drinks occasionally, usually for a special occasion or if he needs to relieve stress. He doesn’t get drunk very often; he hates the headache from the hangover afterwards. When he is drunk he loses his filter. He’s much more blunt and joking and relaxed when he’s tipsy. It’d probably be way easier to get him to talk about himself if it wasn’t for the fact that Arcade with no Filter also means he’s more emotional/anxious. When he gets really drunk he gets pretty delirious, and starts talking incomprehensibly about random stuff and laughing at god knows what (usually some sort of complicated inside joke with himself). When he’s around other people who are drunk he tries to take care of them and make sure they’re safe and sober them up a little. River: River cannot handle alcohol at all lmao. He gets super sleepy before he’s even done with his drink. Because of this he doesn’t drink alcohol much, the most he’d have is a taste or two of whatever Arcade or Ramona’s drinking. When River’s drunk (and actually awake for it) he’s pretty sleepy and grumpy. He gets a headache and wants to be away from any loud noises and bright lights. He also gets even more clingy than normal if he’s with friends. If he and Arcade went drinking together it’d probably end with River sleeping on his shoulder in whatever bar they were at. River is pretty teasing (in good spirit) if he’s around someone who’s drunk, but he’d also try to get them home or to sit down and stop drinking anymore. 40.  Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert? Arcade: Arcade can’t handle too much caffeine. If he has more than his morning cup of coffee in a short period of time then he’d short circuit and become an anxious jittery mess. He hates coffee. The only reason why he drinks coffee is because he stays up all night working and he can’t sleep in the next day, so he needs some caffeine (even if he can’t finish his morning cup without a minor stomachache). If Arcade had an energy drink he’d probably faint from the caffeine overload. As for sugary foods, he’d never outwardly admit it but he’s a sugar fiend. He loves NukaCola and can go through several bottles of it in a short period of time depending on how stressed he is. He’s a similar way with candy; he’ll absentmindedly eat it when he’s really stressed or focused. He prefers fruit chews or taffies and he isn’t so big on chocolates or cakes because of how rich they are. Arcade’s a night owl in general so he’s used to staying awake all night, so for him it’s more about getting through the morning without getting a migraine caused by sleep deprivation. Unfortunately working in Mormon Fort means that you don’t have the time to sleep in. River: River likes coffee if you pour a lot of milk and sugar into it loll. He doesn’t really drink energy drinks. Ramona once said that they caused your heart to explode and he was too scared to try them after that gjhfd. River likes sugary foods! He’s really into Sunset Sarsaparilla and sometimes he likes to make floats with it if he can get his hands on ice cream (if he has enough time, sweetener and ice he’ll try to use any extra brahmin milk he has on hand). He also likes candied nuts and brittles because they don’t melt very easily and they work really well as a sweet snack when you’re travelling. That being said, he’d probably eat anything if it’s sweet enough ghfdjg. River’s used to saying in a strict sleep schedule because of his time in his caravan; he wakes up as early as 5:30am because he has to help set up in the morning and take care of the animals. He also likes to sleep early but if he has to stay up late he’ll drink some coffee to keep alert.

History~Todd’s Ltd

Todd’s Ltd (aka The Trinidad Arcade, the precursor to Stephens & Todd) c. 1897 ................................................................... There are different versions of how this store became the star of the Todd empire in Port-of-Spain during the 1800s.

Historian Angelo Bissessarsingh wrote that Todd was an Englishman who came to Trinidad in 1852 and started business with small dry-goods shop along Frederick Street.

In an article headlined The Trinidad Arcade published in the Trinidad Guardian in 2013, Bissessarsingh wrote: “James Todd was an Eng­lish­man who had come to the is­land in 1852 and com­menced busi­ness in a mod­est way with a small dry-goods shop on rent­ed premis­es at 12 Fred­er­ick Street."

According to Gerard Besson, however, James Todd was a Scotsman who came to Port-of-Spain in 1838, ten years after he had started a jewellery store in San Fernando.

In The Caribbean History Archives, Besson wrote: “Another old Scottish firm on Frederick Street was Todd. It had started off as a jewellery store in 1828 in San Fernando under the name James Todd and Sons. In 1838, James Todd relocated to Port of Spain...”

In Bissessarsingh’s account, Todd accumulated considerable wealth from cocoa export as he had purchased cocoa estates, and also took cocoa as payment for goods purchased.

“James Todd ac­quired sev­er­al co­coa es­tates, es­pe­cial­ly in the rapid­ly de­vel­op­ing hin­ter­lands east of Ch­agua­nas and in the rolling hills near the Ca­paro Riv­er val­ley. As with most oth­er large busi­ness­es at the time, Todd's of­fered a line of cred­it to co­coa farm­ers that al­lowed them to take goods dur­ing the year with­out cash pay­ment, the score be­ing set­tled when the co­coa har­vest was brought in. Sacks of dried beans would be val­ued as cur­ren­cy and thus the mer­chant was able to turn an ad­di­tion­al prof­it from ex­port­ing co­coa. This ac­tiv­i­ty cou­pled with his thriv­ing mer­can­tile trade made him a very af­flu­ent man in­deed by the time he died in 1884.”

Besson, on the other hand, attributed the start of the Frederick Street business to Todd’s wife.

“In 1838, James Todd relocated to Port of Spain, took on a partner and went off to the sea, which ahd been his first love. The partner, however, absconded ten years later with the valuable stock. It was Jamie Todd, James’ wife, who single-handedly restarted the business. She bought some unclaimed crockery at Customs, and in the years to come,the genial businesswoman made Todd become a renowned dealer in china.”

The story, according to Bissessarsingh, continued this way:

“(Todd) had tak­en his son, David, in­to the busi­ness as a di­rec­tor, but tragedy struck when David died a year af­ter his fa­ther. The reins passed to James's grand­son, James B L Todd, who proved that he was very ca­pa­ble of as­sum­ing stew­ard­ship of the work of two gen­er­a­tions. The younger Todd had a knack for feel­ing the pulse of the econ­o­my and in a time when a new mid­dle class was emerg­ing, he re­alised that there was a need for cheap, el­e­gant fur­ni­ture at rea­son­able cost since hith­er­to, the best fur­nish­ings were im­port­ed from the Unit­ed States and Eu­rope and were very ex­pen­sive. Todd and Sons opened a work­shop on Cha­con Street, which used lo­cal woods culled right from the Todd es­tates. An­oth­er sub­sidiary, on Queen Street, was called the West End Car­riage Fac­to­ry, which en­com­passed a sad­dlery and black­smith shop as well, since this was the era be­fore mo­tor traf­fic. The show­piece of the Todd em­pire was the store it owned on Fred­er­ick Street. In the wake of the 1895 fire it was re­built com­plete­ly in sig­na­ture George Brown style. Dubbed the Trinidad Ar­cade, it was one of the finest es­tab­lish­ments in the city and oc­cu­pied the en­tire width of the block be­tween Fred­er­ick and Hen­ry streets, with en­trances at both ends. School­books, toys, cloth­ing and hard­ware were at­trac­tive­ly dis­played along the cor­ri­dor be­tween the en­trances. James B L Todd died in the 1930s, and the firm found­ed by his grand­fa­ther was forced to un­der­go sev­er­al merg­ers and ac­qui­si­tions in or­der to sur­vive. Old­er gen­er­a­tions would re­mem­ber the es­tab­lish­ment of Stephens and Todd, which in an­oth­er in­car­na­tion was called Stephens, Fog­a­r­ty's and Todd. These were names that once stood on their own as proud re­mem­brances of a pros­per­ous time in our his­to­ry but which had all van­ished by the end of the 1970s.”

Besson’s version went this way: “The Todd’s oldest son succeeded in the business, but in 1870 he died after having been bitten by a rabid dog. The two smaller sons, William and James, were still children, and Mrs. Todd took them back to Scotland for their education. An uncle named Davidson bought into the company, and the name was changed to Davidson and Todd Limited. William and James returned in 1892. William fell ill and returned to Scotland, and James Todd jnr. was the one to continue in the family business. On 4th March, 1895, the great fire of Port of Spain originated from the Todd’s business premises. It left 57 business houses and residences burnt to the ground. The damage was an estimated £750,000 - a mindboggling sum at the time. The Todd family, however, rebuilt their business again, and two of James jnr.’s children, Bill and Winnifred, took over from their father. In 1953, Stephens bought Davidson and Todd. Winnifred, who had joined the firm in 1926 and developed the china department of the business, remained with Stephens and Todd Ltd. until 1972.” . . Eventually, the company underwent sev­er­al merg­ers and acqui­si­tions, and was known variously as Stephens and Todd’s; Stephens, Todd & Forgathy’s; and Stephens & Johnsons.
