First Collage Attempt

This is my first time doing collage. I decided to do it centering around one of my OCs, Henry Stevenson.

I really like how it turned out.

Here's the character on his own.

This is definitely my favorite digital drawing of any of my characters. Looking at it, it reminds me a bit of ABD Illustrates. Though I'm nowhere near his level.

OC Introduction

Since this is an OC blog, I should probably introduce the OCs it's about. So here they are!

From left to right their names are: Henry Stevenson, Victor Shelley, Mary Robert, and Laura Le Fanu.

There's also another character named Edward, but I don't have a drawing of him. He's a rat.

Henry and Victor have known each other since highschool. Laura becomes Victor's girlfriend in college. And Mary is a mishmash of corpses brought to life with chemicals and electricity.

Fun facts about their names: Henry Stevenson's first name is taken from Henry Jekyll, and his last name is taken from Robert Louis Stevenson (the author of Jekyll and Hyde). Victor Shelley's first name is taken from Victor Frankenstein, and his last name is taken from Mary Shelley (the author of Frankenstein). Mary Robert's name is made up of the first names of the authors who wrote Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde. Laura Le Fanu's first name is taken from Laura in the book Carmilla, her last name is taken from Sheridan Le Fanu (the author of Carmilla). Edward's name was taken from Edward Hyde.

They're all in their early 20's and go to college together (excluding Mary and Edward). Henry is majoring in Chemistry, Victor in Engineering, and Laura in some sort of Art.

The time period is the 1980's bc I like that aesthetic. Most of the story takes place in 1984.

Of all of them, Mary is the tallest at 6'3. Victor follows closely behind at 6'0. Henry is next with 5'6, and Laura is the shortest at 5'4. (technically Edward is the shortest but he's a mouse)

Their story is inspired by the song Weird Science by Oingo Boingo. There's also clear inspiration from Frankenstein.

I could probably write so much more information about them all, but I feel this is long enough already. And so here are some close-ups!

What is of monsters and men?

Of monsters and men (or omam for short) is a universe of my creation! It tells the story of a monster hierarchy and the fall of said hierarchy, how humans and monsters need to coexist.  

What type of monsters exist in omam?

Any and all! Whatever monster you could dream of exists here! The less human the higher of a Nobel they'd be! The more human the lower the class. Before the war at least. Classical lit monsters/characters exist also (example Dr Jekyll, Abraham Van Helsing, etc)

The existence of monsters

Monsters have always existed. They lived among humans for as long as humans have existed. Monsters are as natural as humans. However some monsters can be artificially created. Like vampires. They can be born a vampire or also created. Though those who have been created will be treated as lesser than their fellow creatures. Monsters are just as flawed as humans. They are not perfect. 

1683 - 1934

This was the height of the monster hierarchy. Monsters everywhere rose to power and reigned over humans. Humans would serve them or even hide from them. Human monster relationships were frowned upon and never seen in public if one even dared. Monsters thought they were living the life untill…

1934 - 1970

Humans were tired. They no longer wanted to live under monsters. So a man by the name of Abraham Van Helsing started studying monsters. Learning how to kill them. Other humans followed, driving the monsters into hiding for most of the 40s to early 60s. That's when monsters began to resurface no longer asking for power but now for equality. 

1970 - now

It took awhile but humans and monsters finally came to an agreement for the most part. Monsters are treated with equality and respect as are humans. Though the relationship is shaky at best. Some humans believe they should have full reign as do some monsters. Most fear that at any given moment another war could break out at any given moment. For now, they live in coexistence happily. Human monster relationships are even welcomed.

i just think he's incompetent at everything and i could do everything he does better because it's true, sure he carries it around and clearly does take care of the thing he created- but still, i'd do better, all he did was copy ME anyways, i created life then suddenly he's created a cat! a copy cat with no original ideas

Image 1:

A WIP of a Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler OC inspired by Lucifer Morningstar from The Sandman (very good show btw, highly recommend.) a few twists and tweaks have been added, and lore from the manga regarding demons had been taken into account as well (not much mind you, mainly Sebastian’s first appearance in the cult and his shape-shift-iness)

The relationship they share with Sebastian was going to be a metaphor for harmful drug addiction and toxic codependent relationships- but I never got around to fleshing out info and their dynamics (or finalising a design for that matter)

had an idea for yuu/Vil angst that was literally just yuu dying mid-overblot, never got around for finishing it but I had the idea to have their blot-infected corpse start to fuse with vil’s overblot form to create a nasty-looking abomination thing. (Twisted Wonderland)

A riff on the phantom of the opera - I had an idea for a world filled with old thriller/mystery/classics characters like victor frankenstien, Jekyll and Hyde, Dracula, Carmilla, Sherlock Holmes and the likes. Tbh the whole idea is a bit gimmicky but I’m having fun with it :3

originally created as a twst OC based on madame mim: Memphis/mimzy/mim. I came up with some twst universe lore related to malleus and his house (because I love fueding noble houses and the chaos it creates narratively). He is a type of draconic-fae but I never dug too deep into that for the twst lore. I initially struggled through several design before settling (for the moment) on this design- and thought it would be hilarious to making him the fruitiest straight man alive. And I think we all appreciate a guy whose in touch with both his masculinity and his femininity :D

I cannot stress enough how much I’m low-key embarassed by this but… I started playing my favourite childhood game again and was struck with the urge for fanart so I came up with a cool, slightly darker au for it. The art is of Greely and Peck, who act as the demigods/deities. Haven’t yet decided what I want them to reside over but I liked the idea of them acting as a duo because of how often they’re paired together in lore. (Yes. This is Animal Jam. The national geographic kids game.)
