SUPERNOVA INITIATIVE

Jack & Lyorna

Flustered/Shy One - Jack. Despite being very extroverted and outspoken, Jack is incredibly awkward and shy when it comes to matters of romance. It is partly due to the fact that he is a strongly sex-repulsed asexual who feels too uncomfortable to try and flirt, but also because his self-esteem isn't the best so he doesn't even consider himself flirting with someone as a plausible course of action. He is also, despite his adventurous lifestyle, completely inexperienced (not naive though, he probably knows more than he should lol) when it comes to matters of sex and romance.

Flirty One - Lyorna. But in like a sweet and endearing way. She is aware of Jack's shyness when it comes to flirting and romance, and so her "flirts" with him are generally on the more wholesome, cutesy side, y'know. Like, she loves showing him that she appreciates the things he does and always tries to lift up his self-esteem when she can through subtle ways, so her flirting mostly comes through as a supportive friendship with romantic moments, and Jack rather likes it as it is, even though he was initially clueless to her advances at first. Now, he has gotten to the point where he himself engages in this form of "flirting" with Lyorna, something he would have never have considered possible.

Vesper & Deimos

Flustered/Shy One - Both (most of the time). Both Deimos and Vesper are pretty emotionally stunted young adults with painfully introverted personalities who often come across as either too harsh, awkward, or strange to strangers. When they first met and had to work together, they weren't even friends, they had a rivalry (like, "I don't like you cause I don't want to" type of rivalry), but begrudgingly realized they had started to care for each other and had no idea what to do with that information for a long, long while lol.

Flirty One - Vesper (on rare occasions lol). She was the first one to verbalize/act out her feelings towards Deimos, though her first attempt was pretty harsh/unromantic (it was very much a "shut up you idiot I fucking love you!" moment, because she hadn't meant to say it, and he didn't know how to react cause he realized he felt like that too). After that she was also the first one to try and be a bit more flirty, though both of them continued equally awkward in their own ways.

Noctus & Aleks

Flustered/Shy One - Noctus. He is very much a serious, "by the book" secret agent who has spent his entire life (that he remembers of) following orders and being the Junction's perfect soldier. He had never considered love and romance as a factor he desired in his life, and when he first met Aleks he considered the bubbly troublemaker as unbearable, but grumpily found himself falling for him regardless. And later, much to his own surprise, found himself breaking protocol for the first time in his life in order to side with and save the love of his life and his friends.

Flirty One - Aleks. He is a very forward, funny kind of guy who is rather vocal about his feelings. Being a "prankster" type, Aleks is more than definitely the kind of young adult who makes suggestive jokes that often come across as the stupidest things in the world (deez nuts kind of jokes, for reference). This is part of the reason why the secret agent was often so exasperated by him and found him so insufferable. Aleks made his attraction to Noctus pretty clear from week one, though initially, he was actually just joking with the "uptight secret agent babysitting the crew" but later found himself actually meaning it.

Pax & Tarah

Flustered/Shy One - Pax. He is a young space cadet who has never dated before in his life and though he is very much up for "breaking the rules" and getting into trouble, Pax is also very much not ready for the level of recklessness and sheer dangerous excitement Gabi has to offer, which makes some of their interactions pretty interesting. Pax does try to be flirty on occasion but those attempts mostly come across as endearingly awkward.

Flirty One -Tarah. She is a very blunt, "speak things as they are" kind of girl, having been raised to be no-nonsense and generally direct. Though her attempts at flirting were initially as awkward as Pax's she quickly got better at it and now is the most forwardly romantic one of the duo - she also is the one who has the most "date ideas", though those ideas often involve at least some form of danger for her to consider them "thrilling enough" lol.

🦋: How long did it take them to get out of the awkward early relationship stage? Have they gotten more confident around each other?

yuusha was the one who has gotten more comfortable with jamil sooner. it was almost immediately after they got together because it was basically just the same as how she treated him before (overly affectionate and teasing without realizing). but internally she’s somewhat lovestruck with their official relationship.

it took longer (several weeks lmao) for jamil to get more confident with yuusha because he realized — oh no they finally have a name to their relationship, the way they act around each other finally MEANS something.

it’s rare for jamil to actually show his affection in public so whenever he does, it catches yuusha off guard and it looks like she’s the one still being awkward in the relationship. it’s revenge for yuusha putting him in similar awkward situations.

Y'know, puttering around with my recordings, I think I really am going to give Davrin's romance with Ver a pretty serious twisting around. Rewrite some things a bit, change things around, keep most of the "slow burn" of it intact- but also add in the "friends with benefits" elements that I feel match what he says in the check-in scene after the point of no return better.

I think I have a post from like, months before release, when all we knew about the character was "charming Warden (who may or may not have been the Storm Coast team's commander in '41)", about how I sort of expected his to be the romance that starts off more casual (with the expiration date all Wardens have, it's not surprising that someone who's been one for at least ten years would be hesitant to enter any genuine emotional entanglements, platonic or romantic), and then for him to find himself falling for Rook unexpectedly (and kind of against his will) anyway.

And from some of that late dialogue, I still think that that may have been the exact intention, initially, but maybe they didn't want to create too big a disparity between the different romance paths, or like they didn't want for it to come off like they weren't taking him as seriously as the rest, so the path sort of ended up getting a bit... I don't wanna say "subdued", but I can't think of a better word lol. Brought to match the pacing of the others and the overall story more, that's more like what I mean.

.... Anyway, I kinda think I wanna have them sleep together for the first time either after his personal quest (no more distractions, clearly established romantic interest in- and some commitment to one another, but with still an opportunity to angst about everything else) or preferably, that night after drinking with Lucanis.

I'm leaning towards the latter thought, specifically because it'd be clearly a very, very bad idea.

It'd be far too fast, far too early, I got that scene like right after the Cauldron, so deep in the thick of his personal quest- plus, the mutual interest was barely expressed like one day prior to it, and there was alcohol involved. Which all kind of makes it perfect, because it's an awful time to toss that complication in there.

But, it gives me an opportunity to have the both of them keep thinking that it being just a casual, physical thing is what the other wants (despite the "well, I could see us heading somewhere, someday" of it), and to have their feelings developing sort of in the background of it-- and then!!!!! that forest kiss can also take a role more like another complicating factor, with the "heart of a halla" line being a bit more ambiguous.

Like, casually kissing your booty call/situationship/FWB you've been secretly falling for, it's a bit more touchy-feely than the previously established [they were not established] guidelines [there are no guidelines] suggest is appropriate [none of this is appropriate], but it feels right, and that alone makes it feel weird and confusing, ykwim?

But, then the whole "Most of my life, I've gone it alone. With you... I never want to go back." thing makes more sense being where it is, after his personal quest, to me at least. Because that sounds like a confession, and with being free from worries and the griffons safe (with Eldrin, in that game), there's a great time to have a long-ish, actually serious conversation about what this is and where it's going.

.... That would also mean that some of the bed scene dialogue doesn't make as much sense ("Is this all just for show"? "Just like I imagined"? Girl you know exactly if it's for show and what his hands feel like, you've been getting dicked down semi-regularly for weeks), but I can work with some tweaks to that lol. The final parts of it, about planning the future and getting soppy still make perfect sense, it's just those lines in the leadup that need some minor tweaking.

Idk, I really liked the in-game experience I had, and I love me a good slow burn, but I can't deny that it's more my style when "slow burn" doesn't also mean ".... so sex is a thing that happens only at the very end, when all feelings are resolved". I like it adding more uncertainty and confusion into the mix, and giving a sort of "oh, this is different now" feel to that first time once the feelings are also resolved.

(The date though, I wanna keep where and how it is exactly, because he mentions he got the tip for the picnic from Evka and Antoine, and I find it really cute to imagine him just sort of looking at them after speaking with Valya like.... "... they probably have the right idea of it, don't they. While we're here, let... let me just go ask. How to, uh. Do this whole. Romance thing, I guess. Make it sound, idk, casual. And chill. We're... chill." Never mind that Evka and Antoine are literally one of the most romantic couples any of them know, but yknow, nbd.)

(And then it goes all the way sideways? Love it. Love the "hey so this tea I thought would be a fun, cute thing for us to try made her trip absolute balls for a while, so maybe this outing is not a great opportunity to like, talk. Seriously. About how I may or may not be falling a little bit in love with her. And by 'little bit', I mean 'up to the very tips of my ears'. Nbd, just gonna... postpone, spilling my guts out for her perusal, I guess." of it all. A+, no notes.)

for finish your fics friday I'm putting this under the cut since there are minor spoilers for Chapter 4 of the alpha build of Shepherds of Haven. It's a lot more than five sentences, yet not even everything I wrote yesterday and today! Kyrahlise has crush on Blade in this one, but that won't stop her from doing or saying what she wants.

The slight nod she got in response was more than she was expecting. Unlike the faint frown when Blade glanced at the open window. “The angle of the sun cast a glare on the window, which means I can’t see the colors of the mountains accurately.” Kyrahlise wasn’t going to apologize for opening the window. Not when the chances of the sun being out again were rather slim. At least she’d been able to block in the shapes of the mountains when she was on the roof. So the change in angle wasn’t too much of a hindrance. “It’s well below freezing.” A different glare than before was levied at her. “I’m not going to get frostbite or die because of the window being open. And in case you forgot, I’ve managed to escape either of those fates for the past 16 years. Despite having no one hovering over me to fuss about it.” She thought the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. “You are still quite stubborn.” He’d said much the same when she told him to stop beating himself up about not being with her in the caves. A slow smirk spread across Kyrahlise’s face. “You'll just have to get used to it, because that won't change."

Set after the main events of Chapter 4, Kyrah is just trying to paint the mountains on the one day the sun finally shows it's face. Of course Blade did his mother hen thing about her sitting on the roof while drawing. She comes down to mollify him, but she isn't going to give up finishing her painting while the light is just right, lol! In my mind it's Chapters 3 and 4 where she starts to get rather confused by his behavior towards her. Between her confusion and how protective Blade gets, she starts to get frustrated with him. This won't be the only time she low-key tells him off for it. I have this headcanon that he actually likes the fact she will stand up to him and disagree with him. (Though I don't know how much of a headcanon it is, because I think there is a lot of textual evidence for it.) To me, he sees it as a sign she isn't afraid of him, and trusts and respects him enough to be honest.

Hello! I meant to answer this yesterday but I was wiped out after work. Anyways...

This daydream is related to my old Undertale siren OC. Her name was Arianna and the basic idea is she's a shapeshifting psychic.

So the world has ended due to a magic zombie plague. The Underfell monsters have broken the barrier but they have decided to stay on and in Mount Ebbot to be safe and have heavily fortified it. There are a few human cities left but they're walled and basically dystopian.

While on a patrol with some guards looking for supplies, Papyrus finds a strange facility with otherworldly runes and strange medical devices. In a large tank in the main room is a mysterious siren in stasis. Papyrus investigates the control panel and figures out which button will bring her out of the stasis.

She swims around the tank for a bit before he figures out how to open the hatch on top. She hauls herself out and is glad to be awake but is sort of confused as she's been unconscious for a while. The last thing she remembers was fighting the hordes of zombies with her friends before she was bit.

Papyrus is concerned at first but she isn't displaying any signs of being turned. Sure, she's got a weirdly glowing patch of skin near her heart but she's not trying to attack him. It matches the glow of the control panel too so maybe this facility is the reason she's cured?

Arianna doesn't know but she asks to go with him since she wants to find her friends. She needs to know if they survived and let them know that she's okay.

I'm gonna stop it there as I don't remember a ton of the plot points afterwards and it would be hard to explain the Lovecraftian reason for why Arianna is alive. There is a cure for the magic zombies too.

I...really, really like Underfell. This idea is unrelated to the one I had with Project Zomboid but it's interesting I had the idea to do zombie apocalypse AU's twice.

The Cartographer: It's a reference. The Collector had a similar amulet, one with a face.

The Curator: It's a little thing we did to remember them by. None of us ever really speak openly about him being gone. I don't think Charmer or Coordinator would care for the reminders.

Do they have any habits their partner finds annoying? - Tomax and Grace : So we all know Grace and Tomax use to rub wands back in the Fallen Angel days, and often their tryst would end in a nightcap. Tomax 100% was a bed hogger. It was the most annoying thing ever. Grace is for sure the cuddle after type but not when it comes to actual sleep, she likes her space lol And fun fact: Grace's healing abilities extended to sleep as well. If you come in contact with her while sleeping, you have really good dreams. So maybe Tomax was chasing the high as per usual. Or maaaybe he was just that enamored with Grace.

12. Do they have many problems in the relationship or just a few? Or none? Nora and Aries: Nora and Aries have a pending flashback coming, but they hardly had issues minus the big one. Aries and Nora met fairly young, when Nora ran away from jungles of Selvadorada to live in the forest. She rescued young Aries from a faerie trap made of iron (which in high doses can be toxic) and they've been inseparable since. They practiced magic together, made a home together in the forest, swam in the springs during the hot summer days, looked at the stars during the cool, cloudless nights, and taught each other things from their own culture. Aries taught Nora how to use a bow and arrow and how to release a spirit back to nature after a hunt.

And Nora taught Aries how to deep meditate and how to conjure spirits. They would have honestly still been together but then Aries became of age and instinct took over. It was time for them to begin their duties as Guardian and begin producing offspring. Nora wanted nothing to do with children and family. It was partly why she ran away in the first place. It wasn't like she didn't know the day would come, she foolishly thought Aries could go against their nature for her (even though she refused to go against hers for them). She didn't like that Aries took many lovers in this process. The fae family structure was everything being a dark witch wasn't. It simply didn't work anymore. It was bound to end anyway, Nora figured, especially after what happened the night of the Occult War...

The Touch Barrier | Ver. 1 under the cut

Ah my lovely fic headcanons with no real name... The Google Doc I have my drabbles about Paz Viszla are on just a funny sheet called quite literally Blue Mando Paz Feels. We had so little Paz content at the time I began writing these in 2019, but when I tell you my mind went wild...

Big blue boi Mando had my heart from the get go, and I quickly envisioned a nameless little OC (that I have yet to get onto paper). I paired him with a gentle soul who has a heart bigger than her head, and shakes the moment a gun is put into her hands-- but I think that brand of softness may be just what he needed in this harsh lonely world Mandalorians are so used to. He's big, he's blue, and it's cuffing season.. all I gotta say on that.

Now that I've seen more of Viszla in Season 3 I HAVE NEW SOURCE MATERIAL MUAHAHAHA but (ach-hem) I really do think the newest episodes helped me figure out his 'voice' so I might pick these little stories back up!

//psst my favorite of these is one where oc/reader's helping him clean up after a yucky, muggy recon mission, seeing him scrub himself really hard and she fusses over how rough he's being-even with himself. I go into how to care for your beskar, some Din Djarin rivalry-ish backstory, and how SWEET Paz can be when he's treated gently... Perhaps I'll flesh this one out if there's interest?

But also... my beloved:

I answered a bit on my different directions on The Touch Barrier here... But I imagine you'll be most interested in the first iteration of it, so here's a snippet!!

"Are we ok?"

The helmet straightened up, fixed to you again from its nervous evasion. "What?"

"You look like a caged lothcat right now.." you shared, unable to hold back a smile. "And here I thought we were on hugging terms~"

Inside the beskar suit, Mando’s neck flared with heat. And before he could silence himself,

"..we are?"

You hummed noncommittally- betraying your whole-hearted desire.

"I hoped so. At least I thought we might be, based on how you boarded the other day. Unless you didn't necessarily want me there. After all, I know you were kinda having a hard time staying upright."

Only then did Mando's beskar curves slide more naturally into place. No longer bolted to the wall but angled catty corner to you. 

He recalled the 'hug' referenced, but he also remembered how he'd cupped your head to him after you'd brought him up to the cockpit-- that one was for comfort. Not stability.

"I was. But that's not why I .."

–but before he fully finished his train of thought, the baby in the hold let out a frustrated garble of calls as a rolling ball clinked out of his reach. Each plunk echoed down the rungs until it rolled off to parts unknown. You snorted, wondering what on earth he was getting into up there.

"Gosh, that little guy. Sorry, what were you saying?" you recentered from your distraction.

With a lag in his shoulders, the Mandalorian thought the truth to be the best answer. But still wanting to answer to the Child, he nodded his head on for you to continue down to the hull, and he'd follow,

"I was just going to say," he answered, "I didn't do that because I couldn't stand on my own. i-i mean I couldn't, true, but the thing is, I 'wanted to'..." 

His heart was thundering, some cracks in his words were audible,

"I was bleeding out all over the floor. But really, l I could think of was just how grateful I was that you hadn't been hurt. You were safe, and seeing you? I was relieved."

Now side by side in the open air cargo space you smiled, feeling a bit like the silly girls in the holonovels when they pushed their hair behind their ears.

"Well... For one, I'm glad you're not bleeding all over the floor."

That earned you a breathy laugh, "Thank you."

"And for two, I'm- glad you wanted to. Because I may or may not have been wanting to, myself.." 

Mando paused in his strides. which you matched. Even though you were unable to read his expression, you gave a satisfied little smile with your answer, 

"So… it sounds like we're on the same page."

"Sounds like we are."

The Child whined again, making both tip their head off to the side, perfectly in sync.

"I can go get him-- meet you back up top?"

"Okay." He nodded and they split.

Back in the cockpit, you wrangled the bouncing little potato sack. Mando turned when you came in, hearing you corral the kid trying to jump out of your arms to get a better view from his pram.

"Ok ok kiddo, good grief– your seat's but going anywhere!" You shrilled. Planted into his blankets, he sat back in content, swaying side to side, taking in the stars and clusters they were passing in awe.

"Handful?"

"More like tryin'a be a hand-empty, the little wiggle worm." you sassed. His playfighting was all in good fun.

The Mandalorian spun to meet you. First and foremost, you know he'd set the locks on the overhead panels on the side wall, but then he surprised you when he faced fully after you readjusted your clothes the kid had tugged every which way.

"You're good with him. He seems happy to have someone else around." He complimented, stepping into your space. 

Then- finally- meeting your sparkling eyes with all their silent anticipation of his arms, he wrapped around you to pull you in. You locked him in by the waist. 

Then, slightly softer, he nearly whispered, "and.. he's not the only one."

Smushed slightly into his flight suit padding above his chest plate, you smiled. The pats you gave him back passed assurance and as much comfort as you could manage in this relatively tiny hunk of metal in the vast black dust of space. 

"Feeling's mutual, hon."
