I hope this isn’t accidentally offensive or anything but as a white (passing) artist it is the most joyful thing in the world when I get commissioned to draw a black character

one of my favorite things to draw in any sense is hair and textured hair is just so much fun. i love puffs and curls and tight detailed braids. i love using those rich saturated colors rendering skin tone. i love the dimensions of color contrast and value you can go to in overall character design.

it would be good for me i think to make a black OC if only so I can draw black features more. maybe it’s the 2014 tumblr PCness getting to me telling me I can’t. i should though

apologies for the long post idk it’s just really nice and vindicating to see someone trying to break down the aforementioned 2014 tumblr directive of only drawing or creating after your own culture/identity i guess

when I do draw my human self I absolutely LOVE rendering dark skin and drawing my features, people can draw whatever they want but like, it would be more cool to just see people like me more in art. it's not difficult to render or color dark skin or our features if you do a lil study. you should include black folks in your art.
