Does anyone else just kinda dislike the knh dub :(

#i just feel like #the acting compared to sub is a bit lackluster?#maybe im biased #also i totally understand changing dialogue for whatever reason but #sometimes it feels unnecessary and changes the energy of the conversation just a little #apothecary hour #the apothecary diaries #maybe more than a little #i wont give examples bc i dont watch dub too often #i watch it when theres a new release but i dont go back and rewatch dubs #but when i go to watch a dubbed i just feel like #somehow the tone of certain conversations is different #not drastically obv but as a nitpicker i can tell #the conversations feel out of place with the way the eng vas are directed #idk maybe im just biased #i dont hate the dub #obv ill watch it #like the vas are still doing a good job but to me it feels like “a paycheck is a paycheck” rather than actual interest #but idk! maybe its just the way theyre being directed! im not a va!

#idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i genuinely operate on the assumption that the writers never think of the storylines #(and the indications of their writing choices in the broader frame) as much as the fans do #not in the way that im criticizing their intelligence or anything like that i just dont think this is the type of show written like that #like idt when they were writing the sperm donor storyline they were considering buck's broader storyline re being conceived as spare parts #or that what name the characters call buck has that much of a deep meaning like yes i have my own headcanons about tommy calling buck evan #but idt it was a direction given to lou because tommy is meant to be seen as special/different from other LIs/characters #i dont even think they considered the moment buck told his parents not to call him that #not saying nothing has staying consequences in the show obv but it's like whatever the character has to get from it happens in that arc and #then we move on #there are some defining traumas that come back like bobby's family madney and doug and eddie losing shannon #but i usually watch the storylines contained to that arc #not as a part of the lore that the writers will always be vigilant of as they keep building on these characters #at least not to the degree a fandom does #this is why i never speculate based on previous storylines l #not beyond “this would have a lot of potential if they went that route”#no one in that writers room thinks about character lore and the nuances of characterization as obsessed fans is what ill say #does*

The sad thing about this episode is how blatantly the fact that Alicent is a woman is being used against her (it’s been clear throughout the show yes, but now at the council Larys has said it plainly).

In her opinion this conflict was never about rhaenyra being a woman! She thinks rhaenyra would have made ‘a fine queen’! Alicent believes that Aegon is on the throne Not Because he is a Man but because Viserys ‘changed his mind’. But now the fact that he is a man and she is not is being used against her.

Though Alicent has done what is asked of her and proven herself time and time again (including on the council in the absence of Viserys!!!), she (like rhaenyra) is being punished and removed of the luxury of power simply for being a woman.

But unlike Rhaenyra, Alicent has no power from her title and can’t force anyone to listen to her because they were her father’s antis. This is Alicents tragedy

but the real tragedy is arguably the antis who say that Alicents storyline is somehow ‘deserved’. So much for absorbing the shows messaging about the danger of women being villainised for having opinions or authority!!

#like alicent antis are we watching the same show!?#where a 15 yo was forced to marry her best friends father and birth his children #only for him to completely ignore and disregard them #yet she cares for him in his illness anyway #she’s trapped in a viscous cycle of duty and sacrifice #and obv she’s not perfect (no one is) but her storyline is one of tragedy #in which the tragic elements come from her suffering being undeserved #alicent they could never make me hate you #alicent hightower #house of the dragon #hotd

its been three days and im still thinking abt how good the directing was in saw 3, lots of great set pieces and colors, interesting framing choices, shawnee smiths acting for amanda was rly damn raw, jigsaw fucked up everything everyone and then himself while still crowning himself the victor, everyone worked hard on it and it shows in the final product

Tbh I think seeing these cars was more surreal and insane to me than going to the actual race the very next day. I think it's because I'm more deranged about the 2010s than nowadays(for the most part), so seeing all these incredibly iconic cars in the flesh(especially ones like the STR3 and Hungry Heidi) was just unbelievable to me. And the fact that it's free entry as well??? Yeah yeah, feel free to waltz into our aircraft hanger, free of charge, and witness these spectacles of engineering 🥱
