A Little OC Ask List of Difficult to Describe Emotions.

Some emotions are difficult to explain clearly. Perhaps your OC has experienced one of these? Can they remember a specific example? If they haven't then can they imagine what it might be like to experience?

Sonder: The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it.

Opia: The ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye, which can feel simultaneously invasive and vulnerable.

Kenopsia: The eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that's usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet.

Monachopsis: The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place.

Jouska: A hypothetical conversation you compulsively play out in your head.

It’s fitting that you asked about that one because it’s partly inspired by something you said! ♥️

I’ve mused before about the logistical miracle that was the muster in Harrowdale, providing shelter, food, weapons, sanitation, etc. for a whole makeshift army on VERY short notice. Dúnhere was lord of that valley, but I don’t think he could have pulled it off because he was in the fighting at the Isen right before the muster was ordered. So I attribute all the success to his wife, Lithcynd.

She appeared briefly in my Guthláf-Wídfara fic, and she is hyper-competent and briskly efficient - the kind of lady who just Gets Shit Done. You called her and Dúnhere a great power couple in a comment, and that got me started thinking on a story about the two of them, centered around the time of the muster but explaining her backstory, how she came to be the force of nature that she is, how she ended up with Dúnhere and how she ultimately rules Harrowdale after his (canonical) death.

I don’t have any real text yet; it’s more just outline and bullet points. But one of those to share is that Dúnhere is absolutely 😍 about the fact that she’s so capable and effective. When he describes her to other people, he says that the sun doesn’t set in Harrowdale until Lithcynd releases it from service each evening. And he is VERY into that.

ASK CRASHBOX CHARACTERS!

Introduction and info

In this ask blog, I'll have some characters from the show Crashbox available for asks! As of right now, there isn't really any ongoing story, but if I feel like it, perhaps I can make a storyline of some sort depending on asks, answers, and all that stuff.

I don't have every single character available for asks, but I think I've got enough. New characters may be added in the future. I have also included my OCs Jade and Gumdrop, as well as my fan-made Johnnie alter ego, Danny Dill. Why isn't Captain Copter here? It's a whole story I don't feel like explaining in its entirety right now, but basically I headcanon that the reason Copter only showed up once in the show is because Johnnie got into a car crash while Copter was taking over, and Copter never came back again after that. Anyhoo!

This ask blog takes place in current day, which means the actual show probably isn't running anymore, but the characters are still alive, well, and hanging around!

Info about fan-made characters

Jade: While the show was running, Rocket adopted Jade when they were a small child, so you can imagine he had his hands full. As Jade grew up, they began to realize who exactly they were and what their true identity was. Rocket was incredibly accepting (and he also blew a fuse when he found out Jade was being bullied in school, it was a whole ordeal). In current day, Jade is 28 now, but they still are very grateful to have Rocket as their adoptive father. Also, they're jealous of the others because they never got to have a minigame when everyone else did because they were too young. Their life goal? They wanna try to find a way to get Crashbox running again so they can finally live out their dream of having their very own minigame just like Rocket and everyone else did.

Gumdrop: This sweet fellow runs his own café/restaurant- The Dream Café! You wouldn't know this upon first glance, but Gumdrop can be one angry cookie. He's very short-tempered, and if you get on his bad side, it is not a pretty sight. He tries to be nice at first and is pretty chill when in a good mood, but as soon as something doesn't go as planned, he's very irritable. Gumdrop doesn't adapt well to change or stressful situations at all. If there's something terrible happening, then chances are Gumdrop will probably close his shop for a few days and not leave his house at all. This is of course a problem for his employees because working is how they earn the money to support their families and such. That's why the employees are urging Gumdrop to stop doing this. Some even go far as to pick him up from his house and take him to his shop. So nowadays, even if Gumdrop is having a rough time, he's still in the shop. Although if he's particularly stressed he won't be working as hard as usual. Gumdrop loves everything soft, pastel, and fluffy. He also hates water because his hair is made of cotton candy, and you know how cotton candy is with water...

Danny Dill: This alter ego of Johnnie's reports on general news, similarly to Dora Smarmy the news anchor. The only difference is Danny's on the radio, and Dora's on the TV. While Captain Copter, Billy Bull, and April Showers all appeared in the show (Copter only appearing once), Danny Dill came around after Crashbox had ended. Some think Danny was a replacement for Captain Copter, but even Johnnie himself isn't sure why Danny is here. Danny's voice is a bit softer and calmer, and in general, Danny is more shy and anxious than the other alter egos. If Danny is taking over outside of Radio KBOX, he likely has headphones on listening to music to try and escape his thoughts and the outside world. Like Johnnie, listening to music is one of his biggest comforts.

The show Crashbox is not made by me (obviously). It was made by HBO Family and ran from 1999 - 2000 for 2 seasons. Jade and Gumdrop however are original characters made and designed by me. Danny Dill is a fan-made Jumpin' Johnnie Jumble alter ego that was designed by me. However the character Johnnie himself is from the show and is not mine.

her mask is in the shape of a person who doesn’t give a fuck abt anything but themselves. because she does, loathe as she is to admit it. she’s in a tough spot— letting a lot of things slide at umbrella (domestic terrorism) in exchange for a monumental cushion (more money than she knows what to do with, job security, etc). she’s made herself out to be very blasé in the face of everything happening, all but straight up telling herself and everyone around her that she’s selfish enough to look the other way. you know who sees past this? luis. and she hates that shit. (not really. she’s a liar, among other things.)

FAILURE: what’s your oc’s greatest failure? have they been able to move past it? does anyone else know about it?

well. honestly— her greatest failure is letting wesker and the birkins (unknowingly. in her defense—) pretty much buy her cooperation forever. she’s technically umbrella property now cs if she leaves, it’s a death sentence. which might be preferable!

she pretends to be a cold blooded hardass in the face of the cartel but really she’s extremely emotionally intelligent as a silent observer of the world around her. she made a mistake letting herself feel empathy for nacho, and then letting him figure it out.

she feels personally responsible— as a person with Genre Awareness— for nacho not making it out alive. she saw that coming from a mile away but really there was nothing that could have been done for him the second he involved himself with cartel business. he was really doomed from the jump and they both knew it— and no. she will never be able to move past it. she can run to the other side of the hemisphere from albuquerque but she’ll never escape the dread that came with.

Debating making a roleplay account cause they seem fun, but—

I’ve never actually roleplayed before lol so I don’t know if I’d be good at it.

I don’t know what character I’d try, on one hand I’d like to do one for OCs, but on the other hand I know those are not going to get very many asks, especially since their game isn’t anywhere near finished.

If I did a Castlevania one, that’d also be a very small fandom with limited asks AND I’d be honestly too afraid I’d end up interacting with or running into some specific people I’ve met in the fandom I’d like to avoid as much as physically possible.

Hmm, but anyway, an interesting thought I guess.
