Kakashi: So, Obito … we need to talk.

Obito: About?

Kakashi: You know I’m extremely grateful that you’ve “seen the light”, as they say, and have decided to live out the rest of your days in peace here in Konoha. Which, frankly, wouldn’t have been possible if a certain somebody hadn’t become Hokage in enough time to pardon your various crimes …

Obito: *rolls his eyes and slumps back in his chair* You never miss a chance to remind me of that, do you? And anyway don’t you think that forcing me to be your advisor is enough of a punishment?

Kakashi: *snorts a laugh* Right; like you didn’t all but beg for this job. You said, and I quote, “Nobody else would have the brains to advise you on how to wipe your ass, let alone run a village, Bakashi.”

Obito: Your point being?

Kakashi: My point is, I AM in charge of the safety of Konoha. The peace of it. And … to make sure its laws are upheld.

Obito: Yes? And? I haven’t so much as jaywalked since I’ve been back!

Kakashi: *sighs* That’s not it, Obi. I’m, well, this is a delicate matter, but as the Hokage and more importantly as your friend, I feel it’s my duty to bring this up to you, so —

Obito: Geez, spit it out already, Bakashi!

Kakashi: Okay. It’s about that blonde.

Obito: … Deidara? What about him?

Kakashi: *gets up and starts pacing around* I can turn a blind eye to a lot of things, Obito. But something like this —

Obito: Hey, you pardoned his crimes, too, remember? And since then, has he done one single thing to step out of line?

Kakashi: It’s not that. It’s, well, for Kami’s sake, Obi, you’re thirty-two years old!

Obito: … Yes? And?

Kakashi, face red: That … boy, he can’t possibly be more than sixteen, seventeen years old. The … relationship that you two share, do you honestly think that’s an appropriate situation for the Hokage’s advisor to be in? 

Obito: *is silent for a few moments, then bursts out laughing* 

Kakashi: Oi, I’m not judging you, idiot! I’m just pointing out that —

Obito: You moron, Deidara is twenty years old!!

Kakashi: … Seriously?

Obito: Yes! I know I’m a war criminal but I have some moral standards! 

Kakashi: *sits back down, visibly relieved* Hm. Twenty, eh? He certainly doesn’t look like it. Lucky him.

Obito: *goes to Kakashi and playfully punches him on the shoulder* You’d look a lot younger, too, if you didn’t spend so much time worrying over dumb shit like this.

Kakashi: *sighs* You sound like Gai. He’s always on me about needing to relax more.

Obito: That’s another thing. You want to berate me for dating Deidara, but you’re practically married to beast-face? Really? Tsk. Talk about low standards …

Kakashi: Hey! Gai is warm and sweet and kind, and his tai-jutsu would even best someone as skilled as YOU, asshole! What’s that blonde of yours do again? Make little birds and blow things up? Ooooh, how impressive!

Obito: First of all, there’s not a man alive who could rival Deidara’s strategic mind or his battle skill. He thinks out twenty moves ahead of his opponents while they’re still sitting around with their thumbs up their asses! And you want to talk about handsome? Good God, there was never a finer, more put-together man than my Deidara!

Kakashi: Seriously? Have you never seen Gai’s muscles?? If you want to talk about “put together”, then —

Deidara and Gai, standing in the doorway, having brought Kakashi and Obito lunch:

Deidara: Oi, old man … help me out and brush out my hair for me, hm.

Obito: *sniffs the air* Did you use my shampoo? And isn’t that my robe?

Deidara: *plops himself down on the bed in front of Obito* You’re the one who told me to make myself at home, aren’t you? Now come on — *hands Obito the hairbrush over his shoulder* It’ll be super soft and fluffy if it’s brushed while it’s still a little damp, hm.

Obito: You know, if you ever decide to take me up on my offer to have you move in here with me, I’ll brush out your hair every single night. 

Deidara: And permanently be surrounded by a bunch of Uchihas? Wow; what a wonderful thing that would be, hm. Now get to brushing.

Obito: *picks up the brush and starts pulling it through Deidara’s locks* Has anybody ever told you that you’re incredibly spoiled?

Deidara, grinning: Last night you said I was “incredibly sexy”, now it’s incredibly spoiled. At least I know for sure that you think I’m incredible.

Obito, sighing: You damn brat …

Deidara: And besides, if I AM spoiled, it’s your own damn fault, hm. I mean, you could always tell me “no” once in a while …

Obito: Oh, sure. And endure the sulking, the pouting, the explosive tantrums? Nice try, Deidara, but you’re not fooling me. And besides, I think I know what you need to calm you down some.

Deidara: As appealing as that sounds, I’m gonna say No, hm. My body still needs to recover from last night … and earlier this morning.

Obito: Not that! I meant, I think maybe you’d do well with some good food in your stomach.

Deidara: Ooh, now you’re talking! Okay, what are you going to make??

Obito: I’m not cooking, dear. Tonight you’ll have a gourmet dinner prepared by the best chef in the house!

Deidara: *groans* Itachi? That weasel? I thought you said him and that annoying brother of his went on a hot springs trip??

Obito: They came back home last night. You didn’t hear them come in? Well, I guess you wouldn’t have, considering at the time I had you bent over the —

Deidara, blushing and turning to smack Obito’s shoulder: Shut up. Geez, I guess that means they heard everything, then? How embarrassing…

Obito: Oi, it’s not like that. You know Itachi and Sasuke have been more than respectable of our relationship, the same way that I show respect to theirs. That’s what being family is about, isn’t it?

Deidara: Yeah but their situations are different, hm. At the rate Sasuke’s going, he’ll never seal the deal with that Kyuubi kid. And Red-Eyes and Kisame are so weirdly polite with each other, you’d think they were business partners instead of guys who have been married for five years, hm.

Obito: Everyone takes things at their own pace, Dei.  OUR relationship just progressed more quickly, that’s all. *leans forward and wraps his arms around Deidara’s shoulders* It’s not my fault that you bring out the animalistic passion in me ~

Deidara: Oh yeah? Well —

*from down the hallway* 

Itachi: It’s too bad you can’t bring out a passion for him being a decent cook. I’m going to have to throw this pan out, it’s so scorched.

Kisame: Better to start leaving meals for Dei-kun when we go places, so he doesn’t die of starvation or food poisoning.

Sasuke: And for God’s sake, Obito, could you be any more of a slob? The living room is atrocious. Not even Naruto’s apartment is this bad, and that’s really saying something!

Itachi: And another thing, Obito, while we’re on the subject —

Deidara: Mm, maybe I WILL enjoy living here after all, hm.
