Obito Week 2025: seal | together | love | any au

For this year's Obito celebration i've decided to illustrate a curious AU idea :3 The detailed description is under the cut in case you want to play a guessing game 😄

So, i think this au was sparked by a discussion of a fic Secrets Stolen From Deep Inside where Tobi "books" Kakashi for a week of intimate fun (and yes Konoha happily sells Kakashi out just like that). Tobi is a gentleman (overwhelmed by his enormous crush on the Copy Nin) who offers Kakashi to spend time together, confessing his feelings to him and generally looking like a creepy but passionate stalker. And Kakashi decides why the hell not! He'll get some lovin' and an opportunity to experiment. The fic ends here. @maireyart and i imagined how this could go further.

What if during this week the masks are cast aside, and Obito's identity is revealed! Kakashi's world is turning upside down, the mental walls are crumbling, but he decides to elope with Obito to somehow influence his plans and save him from himself. The closer they get, the sooner they realize that there's something wrong with Obito. Actually, he registers it himself. He knows how he feels about Kakashi, but as this fantasy of them being together turns into reality, Obito becomes numb; it's like his body is rejecting the budding warmth and intimacy they'd managed to create. The evil genius he is, Obito studies the pattern (yes, he is ironically self-aware in this au xD) and tracks that visceral response. It is most intense when Kakashi albeit carefully challenges Obito's plans and beliefs. When it happens Obito feels like the walls go up around him, the masks creep up onto his face again - anything to shut Kakashi out; he is even repulsed by the idea of being physically close to him, and any implication of intimacy repulses him. All of that is not how he is supposed to feel for the man he truly (he had years to realize it) loves.

Despite his inner struggles, Obito manages to communicate his observations to Kakashi. (yes-yes they do talk! they do listen!) Together they work out a theory about a dark seal that could be affecting Obito from within. After having done more research Kakashi figures out what kind of seal it is and goes on a quest to retrieve an ancient scroll with an instruction on how to get rid of it. He keeps the "save-my-Obito" mission a secret bc of the seal's particular feature - deadly self-preservation. It will manipulate Obito into keeping it safe, and Kakashi doesn't want to fight him or use force. Instead he lures him in an old abandoned temple, a sacred place where even such dark curse temporarily loses its power. And in this temple Obito willingly allows Kakashi to perform a ritual that would destroy the seal on his heart.

The scroll specifies the sigils and the type of ink that must be used to paint the skin. Another condition for the ritual is that the caster can only wear red clothes. Obito is skeptical about this one since clothes never played any part in any jutsu he used in his long criminal experience; however, when Kakashi starts to undress Obito bites his tongue and protests no longer. Kakashi he knows is a stickler, so there's no point arguing with him about it (that and the nudity in the moonlight.) Unfortunately, Kakashi fishes out a scarlet hakama and ends the show (looking gorgeous nonetheless❤️)

Deidara: You also refused to let me blow the place up until you'd "safely evacuated" every single person, hm. Where's the fun in blowing up an empty building?? Hidan: Mother-fucker wouldn't even let me do a sacrifice ritual because he said the guy was "too young". Since when has age ever been a factor for Lord Jashin?? Obito, to Kakashi: My dear, I've worked hard to build up this organization. It has a reputation to uphold. I have a reputation, as a ruthless boss, to uphold. Now we can still date, but this, this situation, isn't working out. Kakashi: I can't believe this! I threw away everything just to be by your side, and now you're telling me I have to go because I'm not "bad" enough for you?? This is appalling! Obito: Bakashi ... Kakashi: And what do you mean, you're a ruthless boss? You have literally an entire room full of kittens! Obito: THAT I STOLE! Kakashi: THAT YOU ADOPTED! I WAS WITH YOU WHEN YOU SIGNED THE PAPERS! Obito: If I didn't adopt them, I wouldn't have gotten that discount on the health insurance! Kakashi: What does a big, bad criminal need animal health insurance for?! Obito: MR. Raiden stares down at the writhing Uchiha on the bed and sighs. For all intents and purposes, the patient cannot move. That doesn’t stop him from trying. Whether it be from nervous energy or sheer force of will, his fingers twitch and grasp at the bedsheets beneath him, but he lacks the strength to move beyond this. “Well,” he says, flipping through the patient’s medical file, “you have chakra exhaustion.” As though it weren’t obvious. Shinobi tend to be a bit dense, especially in wartime, when desperation runs high and trauma higher. “So?” “So, you need to rest.” “But I’m fine.” “Sir,” he says calmly, “you can’t move.” The man laughs. It's a broken, sad thing. “You don’t understand. I’m a jōnin.” Raiden pointedly does not roll his eyes. And don't give me that "let's split the bill" crap again, hm. I only had some fries and a drink. The rest is on you. Obito: *grinning and holding up a small gold card* Actually this whole thing is on Kakuzu. After all, we're both members of the Akatsuki, and we're here to discuss an upcoming mission, so, technically, this counts as a business lunch. Kakuzu is responsible for all organization finances, after all. Deidara: *snorts a laugh* Good luck convincing him of that. And what do you mean, upcoming mission?
