Leia pasted a public smile on her face. The kind that would have earned her an approving nod from her mother. Luke noticed it didn't reach her eyes. There was also something vaguely familiar about her. Something about the wealth of glossy brown hair and wide brown eyes reminded him of his mother. She certainly didn't resemble either of her parents. 'Hi,' he murmured. His arms tightened around the clone.
'Hello.' She couldn't keep her eyes off the toy in his arms, and he noticed.
'It's Commander Cody,' he told her with the beginnings of a shy smile. 'My father knew him.' He turned the toy around to display the clone's armor that he'd spent hours meticulously cleaning. Luke worked open the latches that held the helmet on and removed it. 'See?' He held the miniaturized Cody out to her. 'You can play with him,' he offered, almost drunk on the sheer novelty of the opportunity to interact with someone his age outside a holographic classroom setting. He'd only ever read about situations like this.
The disdainful curl of Leia's mouth grew more pronounced. 'I don't want to play with your doll.'

post order 66, having later joined obi-wan on tatooine, cody stiffly stares at the 10 year old using him to rest against as he sleeps.
cody, whispering: si– obi-wan, he's asleep on me. do i just sit here?
obi-wan: just let him rest, cody. he trusts you.
cody: but what if he wakes up and—
obi-san, chuckling softly: and finds himself with a protector like you? i think he'll be just fine, dear.
cody: mmf.. okay.

Anakin: *sitting on the floor with Luke, a small cut on his ankle* But what if I start to bleed out?
Luke: *looking through a box of crayon shaped bandaids to pick out the right one* You’ll be fine, it’s not even bleeding.
Leia: *showing up with a training saber in hand* Master says you didn’t bleed out in your arm because the lightsaber cauterizes as it cuts. I’m sure I could burn it closed for you.
Anakin: *glaring at an amused Obi-Wan, clearly the person filming* That’s okay, babygirl, I think Luke found the best bandaid so I’ll be okay.
Leia: Suit yourself.

Merlin au
"Ser Sevander!", came the voice of his youngest sister, screeching in a way that only ten-year-olds managed to do, "What about this one?"
The redheaded man, Ser Sevander as Cody had gathered, turned his head towards Omega who held up an uprooted flower in one of her, very much dirty, hands for him to inspect.
But before he could give her an answer to the inquiry her twin, Cody's youngest brother, interrupted her, offended.
"Hey! Wait for your turn, Di'kut" Boba spit at his sister, "I was here first!"
"Now Children..." Ser Sevander interrupted in a low voice, frowning.
"-ody! Ka'ra, are you even listening to me?"
He was snapped out of his eavesdropping by Fox's annoyed tone.
"Who's that?" Cody asked instead of giving his own twin the satisfaction of an answer.
"I-", Fox pinched the bridge of his nose, " are you SERIOUSLY asking about the twins new tutor?"
The twins had a new tutor.
Huh, he didn't hadn't approved that.
"No, Cody, Grandfather didn't let you approve this one because he knew you would scare them all off before the twins could."
Fox was stressed and annoyed, tension in his upper body and pace too controlled and fast to be anything but.
Cody was aware about how the upcoming celebration placed a lot of stress on the Commanders shoulders, and he almost pitied him.
Well, If it weren't for the fact that the same celebration would be the day their father announced his retirement, effectively handing over the mantle to his oldest son, Cody hinself, he would truly reserve the sorryness for someone who wasn't himself.
They turned another corner towards the the main council chamber where all generals, the current ruler, Jango of clan Fett, his heir, Cody, to his own eternal despair, and the head of the guard, Fox, would assamble once a month, discuss the current state of affairs inside Manda'yaim and out.
Cody stared at the Fox.
Fox sighed, "No, you didn't say that out loud, yes, ba'buir thought you had enough to do already, and yes you should probably go to sleep."
The grand doors of the meeting room opened in front of them, distracting both brothers momentarily, although Cody couldn't help but think back to the new tutor again.
Ser Sevander. A man he had never seen before and yet..... Someone who seemed eerily familiar to him. Too familiar.

Extremely unpopular opinion but I know in my heart that Padmé Amidala would be awful parents to Luke and Leia. Padmé would refuse to talk to the children when they’re upset and the less said about Anakin ‘youngling slayer, hand cutter, “but the women and the children too” Skywalker the better tbh
I think it’s weird that people are convinced they would be the worlds best parents with the healthiest relationship, I’ve seen a lot of posts saying that Leia and Anakin would be super close when like.. Leia was a rebel and a feminist, in what way would Leia and fascist fanboy be bffs. I’ve seen the same that Padmé and Luke would wear matching outfits and gossip and all, but that’s not fitting with Luke’s character at all? Idk every time I see Luke in those family fics he’s infantilised to all hell - even besides that children aren’t copy’s of their parents, they have their own autonomy and personality.
Realistically Padmé and Anakin are far, far to obsessive over each other to give their children a healthy upbringing, Anakin choked Padmé (while pregnant) out of anger which makes me think abt what exactly he’d do if angry with the kids or Padmé? Like he cut off Luke’s hand, it definitely doesn’t bode well
^^Edit: looking back on this now abt Padmé being “alright with it” that wasn’t the case, sorry abt that one guys
I honestly believe that had she had lived long enough she would’ve tried to raise the children with Vader. Anakin never really seemed to care that much over the kids (I believe because it was a realisation that they couldn’t keep their affair hidden any longer and he would have to choose between being a father/husband or a Jedi) and I couldn’t imagine he’d be alright with Padmé having to give a lot of attention to the kids instead of him.
Ultimately Owen/Beru and Bail/Breha were the best options for raising the children seeing as the Jedi order was out of the question. The reason Luke and Leia turned out to be healthy, well adjusted adults is because of their respective adoptive parents (Aunt/uncle), not because of “to be angry is to be human” amidala and alderaan destroyer 2000 Skywalker
Sidenote: throughout RotS Padmé and Anakin barely even trust each other💀💀 how are 2 people who can’t trust one another supposed to raise kids cmon now

So, I've got a new idea for an au... not an original idea by any means, but I just have been thinking about it for awhile now lol
Basically, Luke gets raised by Rex.
At some point, very shortly after Luke is born and Obi-Wan's like shit, I have to get this kid to Tatooine, said Master Jedi gets injured on the way there. Rex is the one that finds him, luckily, and discovers everything that happened (except for Anakin's fall lol). He decides to help Obi-Wan take Luke to the Lars, but when they get there, the Lars are long gone.
At this point, Obi-Wan is too self-loathing and guilty, so he asks if Rex will raise Luke. This starts an argument about who would be better off raising Luke, but eventually Rex gets Luke.
(Obviously, once Rex and Cody are reunited, Rex sicks Cody on Obi-Wan to "get him to come to his senses")
So begins my "semi-writing" spree, where I wrote out just a bunch of little scenes from his AU.
For more from this AU: NEXT
Here is one, beneath the cut:
Luke’s hair grazed his palm, a soft and a slippery stubble that tickled the pads of his fingers. Even his fingers glided over the baby’s skin, cupping the small warmth behind his head and holding him up in his protective fabrics.
Each moment, experiencing the weight in his arms and the soft breaths sniffled into the air, carved themselves into his memories.
The back of Rex’s mind shot to the long corridors deep within the Kamino Facilities, to the rooms that vode had never been allowed to venture into. The rooms had been full of clones too young to be cadets, yet too old to be in their growth chambers. They had been taken care of droids and a very select personnel, Kaminoiian officials that had watched for any defects or ailments.
Despite having never stepped foot in those rooms, Rex could figure that they were like any other space in the Facility. They were likely as in-organic and harsh walled as other rooms, with white bright enough to blind and dull enough to bore, and the temperature set to a disparaging chill. All of it had been built to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of their product, but at the least amount of cost possible.
Rex hated Kamino.
He would do everything to ensure Luke never experienced such a nightmare.
Then blue eyes slid open and blinked up at him, accompanied by a growing smile and hands squirming in their blanketed confines. Warmth flooded Rex’s heart and he held Luke up, ducking his head to hover his face closer.
“Su cuygar, kar’ika,” Rex whispered.
Luke smiled again and broke his prison, raising a hand to press against Rex’s nose.

I don't know if I've mentioned this already, but... A fic where Obi-Wan raises Luke and Leia... In Mortis
Yes, that Mortis. The planet of the Force. And Luke and Leia grow up in an environment so powerful in the Force that they can do things no one else can. Literally like those other fics where the Skywalkers are eldritch
And when they finally emerge from Mortis, the Rebellion doesn't know whether to worship them or fear them.
And the Empire knows that its days are more than numbered.
Because what can they do against the young man who literally erased the death star like he had an eraser?
(whoever has read the WITCH comic where Elyon erases the Meridian prison will understand)
What can they do against the little girl who came out of a spaceship into empty space where Alderaan should be (or any other planet that they destroyed in that story) and without a spacesuit or anything started running and dancing and where she "stepped" on the world was beginning to reform?
And all that time, the only one they obey is Obi-Wan, who raised them. And every time someone asks Obi-Wan to "control" the twins because of the chaos they're causing, he just gets a look saying "Who, me?"

not asking for a sequel but I do have a mighty need for an epilogue of force ghost obikin witnessing Luke at the celebration and having a moment together of ahhh Our son
I think that would mostly just go like. force ghost anakin tells force ghost obiwan something along the lines of “thank you for raising him. you did so good.” and force ghost obi-wan would look at the celebration going on and hesitate and force ghost anakin would prepare himself for his old master to make some sort of quip about how he aged him prematurely or about how raising anakin was a walk in the park compared to Luke or vice versa but then force ghost obi-wan says something very honest along the lines of “I didn’t think I could most days. It was so difficult to keep myself standing at the beginning. but he was easy for me to love. like his father.”
and then of course for the sickly sweet cyclical very ending, force ghost anakin would be like “I wouldn’t mind hearing all your stories about raising him. would you want to talk about it?” and force ghost obi-wan would be like “I think I might”

Bail took a deep breath. 'She's his sister. She is just as important to the galaxy as he is.' He shook Obi-wan by the shoulder. 'Anakin is gone. You did everything you could for him. It's time to let him go. It's time to be that person for his daughter. For my daughter.' Bail pressed a chit into Obi-wan's hand. 'Transport leaves in an hour.' Obi-wan lifted his incredulous gaze to Bail. 'I didn't want to leave you room to argue,' Bail said.
Obi-wan stared at the chit for several long moments. 'I just need a few things,' he murmured, mind spinning. He bent and brushed the still bacta-damp hair from Luke's forehead and pressed a kiss to it before he turned to leave.
Bail fell into step beside him, giving Obi-wan a pensive glance. 'It's gone far beyond mere protection, hasn't it?'
'Of course it has.' He swallowed hard. 'He's my son, just as much as Leia is your daughter.' Obi-wan strode into his suite and hefted a large knapsack to a table. He reached inside and gingerly withdrew a wooden box, wrapped in waxed canvas and oiled leather. With a slow inhalation, he flipped lid open, then folded back the fraying scrap of linen tucked around the two lightsabers nestled side-by-side in the box with shaking hands. He lifted the one he'd built after Geonosis from the box, the hilt heavy and awkward in his palm. A far cry from the days when it had been an extension of his arm. Even the kyber's thrum, once attuned to his heartbeat and the flow of the Force through him, felt sluggish. Obi-wan took in a deep breath, and tried to let his fears, his worries, and his doubts drift away, just like he used to. He hadn't used the Force in this manner in so long that he would need his wits about him. The Force that had once been a steadfast ally was now all but a stranger that dredged up painful memories. Meditation was one thing, it was a relatively passive activity. This sort of work required him to actively use the Force in a way he hadn't in years. He snatched the brown hooded robe from the bottom of the knapsack and muttered, 'Let's get this over with.'

obi-wan: do you ever wonder what.. he would say if he knew we were raising his son?
cody: probably something about how he's the best-looking kid in the galaxy, just like his old man.
obi-wan, chuckling: he would have been so proud of him...

Anakin felt his presence long before he saw his old master. Even here, where the Force swirled in wounded and broken fragments, it was possible to sense that potent, bright power that he knew so well all these years later.
Jedha was an excellent choice of location.
Because it was already a potent Force location, and then of course, because it had been so terribly damaged by the Death Star, only scavengers and criminals came here now. But it would easily mask the fact that two very powerful Force users were using it as a meeting point.
Anakin drew his hood closer around his face to protect himself from the grit and dust in the atmosphere, which was a constant thing. There was also the occasional large piece of debris that still rained down. But Obi-Wan had directed him to an old Imperial outpost which, while abandoned, still functioned to keep the worst of the ravaged planet’s detritus away from them.
Speaking of whom…
He too was hooded, though his tattered robe was brown not black. Anakin could sense Kenobi’s uncertainty, and he could glimpse the flash of silver at his belt every time he took a step.
