It is said that at times when a choice has to be made, everyone has an angel and a devil on their shoulder. These beings will try to influence a person's morals for right or for wrong.

You thought it was an exaggeration or something that only happened in cartoons. Yet here you stand, in the middle of a market trying out new foods, with Lucifer over one shoulder and Simeon over the other. They're arguing about which treats you should buy. As calm, rational adults, they aren't raising their voices or coming to blows. They're not making a scene at all. But there's a certain fire in their eyes and a stubbornness not to back down, keeping the two of them competitively breathing down your neck until you've made a choice.

"This one is similar to what I made you last week." Simeon points to a high-quality product on the top shelf.

"It's expensive. For that price, you can get two of these." Lucifer points to another product on a lower shelf. "I know you'll like them."

"That's too much. We can't have you getting sick from overeating. How about this? It's fluffy and light." Simeon tries to put a snack in your hand.

Lucifer knocks the angel's arm aside and puts his own recommendation in your hand. "This is made with rare ingredients from across the Devildom. You won't get a chance to try it again."

Two iron grips take hold of your shoulders as Simeon and Lucifer smile at each other. Two irked and vaguely threatening smiles, void of actual positive emotion. You consider just buying a keychain instead.

Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

You looked down at your hands and saw that they were covered in red food coloring.

You laughed a little. "Sorry," you said. "I'm making a mess, huh? Is that why you're so distracted?"

Barbatos closed his eyes and frowned. "You needn't apologize, MC. I'm afraid seeing that brilliant red on your skin has made me think of things I shouldn't."

You were puzzled by this response. You cocked your head curiously. "Such as…?"

Barbatos opened his eyes and the hunger you saw there made heat run through you. Barbatos put down the spatula he'd been using to mix the vanilla into the frosting and took one of your hands instead. He brought it to his lips and kissed away some of the red. The way it painted his lips was so sensual your knees went weak.

You let out a little gasp as Barbatos circled behind you, putting his red stained lips to your neck. You had to grip the kitchen counter for support as he sucked for a moment, his arms going around your waist.

Barbatos let his teeth scrape gently across your skin as he pulled his lips away. "Forgive me, MC. I am not sure what has come over me."

His arms moved as if he was about to move away from you, but you put both of your hands on them. You didn't care that you were likely getting red food coloring on him. You just wanted to hold him in place. "Don't stop."

MC found themselves in the kitchen, engulfed in darkness save for the faint glow emanating from the furnace where a colossal cauldron rested atop it. The room was eerily quiet, the only sound being the gentle hum of the refrigerator and the occasional creak of the old floorboards underfoot. The house of lamentation could be very spooky at night.

As they rummaged through the fridge, their eyes fell upon a tempting sight—a freshly baked cake, its aroma wafting through the air, promising sweet indulgence. Without hesitation, they reached for a slice, their mouth watering in anticipation.

Little did they know, Beelzebub had been watching them from the dark corner of the room, his eyes fixed on the coveted cake. His stomach grumbled as he observed MC indulging in his favorite treat. The sound was very loud, almost like a thunder, making the human shiver and squeak in fear. “What are you eating?” He interrupts them.

Beelzebub's gaze remained fixed on the dessert, his mouth watering with anticipation. “No, uh… We can share, of course,” he replied, though the notion of sharing his beloved food was a struggle. They knew how difficult it was for the avatar of gluttony to share his food, but even then, the two started eating together. “Thank you, Beel, you are so sweet!” “Now, give me a bite.” He comes closer, wrapping one arm possessively around MC's waist as he awaited his share.

With a soft smile, MC complied, offering a piece of the cake directly to Beelzebub's waiting mouth. They felt his fingers tighten slightly around them as he savored, showing off his affection toward the human despite being caught stealing his food.

You shivered and turned, propping your head on your hand as he started lining up little plastic trays of candy atop the mattress. He pointed to each in turn, explaining, "this one is egg. I think you have that kind in the human world, too. It looks so detailed. We also have kraken, pufferfish, and cetus. I like that the candy isn't too sweet, you should try one."

You picked the gummy egg sushi for familiarity. As you observed your treat, Belphegor took hold of the sheets once more and started wrapping them around himself. "That's a good choice. Do you like it? I'll ask Beel to pick up some more next time." Consciously or not, he blanketed the sheets over his head and across his shoulders like a hooded shawl. You popped the candy into your mouth.

"Pretty good, right?"

You nodded. Belphegor took a turn to pick a lumpy-looking blue gummy sushi. It must be modeled after some demonic creature. "This one is a little sour, like the real thing."

While chewing, Belphegor managed to take possession of all of the sheets. They encased him like a cocoon while you were left with nothing but candy and empty wrappers. He began nodding off and slumped to the side, over your legs.
