Last week, this guy got out of the house and then didn't come home. He showed up the next morning thoroughly traumatized and hasn't been brave enough to go past the patio. Sometimes not even past the door. But I know it won't last. Once in a while, Andrew and I do manage to clean up and hit the town. First time out on a "date night" since COVID - and for a wedding, no less! (Don't worry - we were social distancing!)⠀ ⠀ We showed up almost embarrassingly early. But that meant that while wedding planners and florists were busy setting up, I could feel free to take as many pictures as my little heart desired of the location. And all the selfies I wanted. ⠀ ⠀ We were sitting on a bench by the fountain waiting for the guests to arrive and it was just so peaceful and it was nice to just sit. The violinist was warming up, it was like a little private concert. ⠀ ⠀ Dinner was amazing. It was definitely interesting to go to a social distance/phase 3 wedding. Mask protocol was enforced, no mingling allowed. The food was divine - Andrew and I definitely walked out of there uncomfortably full. Everyone has masks and no one got too close. It was very well done. ⠀ ⠀ The bride looked amazing, and her dress was stunning. When your favourite tee is so stretched out that it's more of a dress now. I still remember seeing this shirt, loving it, not willing to spend more than 30 bucks on it and then impulsively looking and finding it 50% off one day. I've still been on a big baking kick - not quite as experimental as I was when Andrew was off, but still baking up a storm. I make these muffins at least once a week, if not more. These are delicious and a huge hit at my house. I've stopped making them in the loaf form because Kaiden will eat these for breakfast or as a snack and they're easier in every way. ⠀ ⠀ I attempted to do a Chinese Swiss roll but that was an epic fail. Must be something I'm doing wrong, but it definitely doesn't look like the pictures on Pinterest. So right now I'll stick to keeping it simple.⠀ ⠀ But I'm hoping to make either strawberry shortcake, or the macaron version. Sometimes the amount of sass that this boy has just makes me laugh and shake my head. He's such a goofball in the best way and I love him so much. ⠀ ⠀ We're going through a tough time right now. He's feeling a little anxious about his place in our lives and whether we still love him since his brother is moving around a lot more (and his brother is way more... vocal about his neediness). It's meant a few more meltdowns, a lot more aggression towards Eli, and making more one on one time for Kaiden. ⠀ ⠀ It's definitely tough to find the balance of protecting Eli from being hurt and NOT making Kaiden feel like we're always picking Eli's side. His not napping during the day doesn't make that influx of feelings easier for him to deal with either. Most people see Andrew or Ralph when they see Eli, and while yes - this kid is definitely an Edwards. Moments like this I see me. That's definitely my nose!! Maybe even my chubby cheeks? This kid is going to be a champion 'Chubby Bunny' player. You know, the one about how many marshmallows you can fit in your mouth and still say Chubby Bunny clearly? That'll be him. ⠀ ⠀ If that's not a life skill everyone needs, I don't know what is. ⠀ ⠀ He's wobbling/walking all over the place, and is now walking and crawling in equal parts. It's such an exciting time!! Soon I'm going to have 2 boys running around like crazy and jumping off everything. The other day they both tackled me and used me as their personal jungle gym so... This guy is such a monkey. A goofball. It's always so amazing to see the character development with him. The quirks and the little jokes. How he loves dancing and has absolutely zero fear when it comes to jumping on and off everything. There are some moments where I still see my baby and then another moment where he looks SO OLD. Those are the moments where I see the kid he's going to become and I'm just like, uh oh. He's going to be trouble!⠀ ⠀ The cat is also randomly obsessed with being in the kids' rooms before bed??? So I'm not sure what that's about but I keep finding him sleeping in their rooms. COVID got me buying multiple sized cast iron pans because that was a better deal even though I don't really have the space for them. Nothing more this guy loves than hitting the trails with Dad - even in the rain. We didn't pack him a raincoat so this was the smallest in the cottage. I took this back before it got toooo hot and we were playing outside in the front of the house.
