What I'm leading to?Well,one of the new cards has Nya vs Tox,who is a master of poison and also villain(or at least,against the ninja) Jay is possible,so maybe we'll get more parallels to Skybound.Tourament could maybe parallel Scrap 'n Tap(maybe also Cole vs Jay to parallel s4),Nya could very well get hit with poison or smth in her fight against Tox.And Jaya will likely happen again sooner or later...

I had a lot of fun trying to work this out. TBH I don't see some of this as realistic but I didn't want too many ninja hunting Nya so Kai had to go. If it was realistic and you know, an actual tournament, I think the ninja, Wu and Garmadon would smash everyone until it was just them, and then overall Garmadon would win, but I need the plot to work out as well so 🤷‍♀️.

Also have way through working this out I realised that Garmadon and Wu would have to skate and I was possessed with the image Libber Gordon teaching them how to skate.

If you would like a more in depth run of any particular fight please let me know and I would be happy to write about it. I'll be doing some more stuff about the matches any way.

Okay, forget niceties on to the nonsense theories-

First off, the ep. called "The Shattering Sword." (Have these been confirmed or debunked yet? Idk. Well, who cares, I got theories.)

What does it mean? Obviously it has something to do with Lloyd cause of that vision, and breaking his signature weapon. Thing is, that's THE most symbolic way of showing a character break. Harry and his wand? Eragon and Zar'roc? Leonardo and his katana's in 2003? And 2012? (Not sure about the last one-). So, what's going to happen to Lloyd?

I have a ton of theories. This is what happens when you're Ninjago obsessed, can't sleep, and you're desperately trying to keep your mind from... Dark stuff.

Lloyd loses the tournament. Possibly badly hurt/blind(kay, a stretch, BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME)/ in a coma/maaaaaaybe lose a limb (Look, Cinder broke Wyldfyre's leg on screen. We've got mentions of mental health and panic attacks. Lego is testing the waters. I can hope.) Most obvious one, but... To make that big of a deal out of it... I feel like it also would shatter his spirit in some way. Also... I'm probably biased, but... I can't really see anyone beating him fairly...

Lloyd is poisoned (inspired by Tox supposedly being evil) and can't fight. Possibly in a coma.

Lloyd is somehow kidnapped by Ras's various competitors (Cinder, Nokt, Jordana [HOW IS SHE IN THIS?!?!], Tox, Jay, ect.). Possibly being prepared for sacrifice.

Ras & Co. somehow get a wolf mask on Lloyd and we have return of the golden oni. (I CAN HOPE)

Lloyd is upset because the team is broken. A lot of the ep. names have to do with betrayal and mistrust and all that nonsense, plus ToE has a lot to do with that too (Jay vs. Cole, Kai's second jealousy arc, Skyler ECT.), so it would make sense. What do I mean exactly? Well, Wyldfyre could be on a whole rage thing after losing Kai, Nya has that plus Jay returning with no memories of her and on Ras's side, Kai's sacrifice (though after his whole smiley thing with Arin idk), Zane maybe worked up over Pixel (there was a whole thing in ToE. There could be a repeat), Cole torn between the Finders and the Ninja (stretch but eh), Arin mad at Sora because he finds out how she tricked him, Sora trying to make up for that plus whatever's supposed to happen with Jordana (though it doesn't seem like she cares about that), you get the idea. Return of window cleaner Lloyd basically. Most likely one imo.

One last thing, one of Lloyd's visions showed another sword breaking, a stone one with a purple/fuchsia gem in the hilt and was seen being held by Beatrix. Maybe this has nothing to do with Lloyd but rather that sword-or maybe someone beats him with it.

Then again, we don't even know if these titles are real and I could very well be overreacting :D. Anyways, PLEASE PLEASE PLEAS SHARE YOU THOUGHTS AND REBLOG! THIS IS MY FIRST TIME SHARING THEORIES LIKE THIS AND ID LOVE TO DEBATE! (In a fun way ofc.)

As someone who only watched ninjago the pilots, s1-2, s11, and the first few episodes of s8, I have like, a bunch of AUs...

Lol anyways.

1. House Elemental

Think about a movie/series where the main characters are not truly human, goes on fantastical quest for newly discovered heritage, and a sentient manor, this is it.

The EMs are 'regular people' and then they meet Lloyd, who is the sole heir to the Elemental Manor, and chaos soon ensues. Also Skylor's is hiding something, and Chad Chen (from the movie) exists, he's related to Skylor. Lar is also there as Kai and Nya's adopted sibling.

2. Kuasa Sekarat

Translates to endangered powers, where after the serpentine war and somewhere at the beginning of the elemental alliance vs the hands of time, the ninjago empire decided to go "Hey, these people with supernatural powers could kill us if they want to, let's kill them before that could happen! Surely nothing will go wrong."

Yah, we still have our current generation of EMs. And they are mad. Krux is also there and looks pretty youthful bc if Ray and Maya can, so can he fvk u, on a serious note he's there with our gang bc well, what's the point of ruling the realm that 'killed' your brother.

Kai and Nya isn't there with the other ninjas, they're somewhere.... a bit more lavish.

3. HEY!!

Based on the Indo WEBTOON "WEE!!", this is just a slice of life AU where there are no elemental powers and most conflicts are gone bc of (for example, the whole HoT fiasco and Morro running away), so Harumi isn't exactly evil, just a little shit. Also that one post where it goes "wouldn't it be fucked up if Krux raised Kai and Nya?" It's canon now except it doesn't have angst. But this AU still has angst.

This is getting long, if anyone wants more info, go ask.

4. Empire of Frost And Inferno

Infinite Eclipse type of AU where the main villain are kinda like Vex but they're more of a celestial simp rather than a vengeful bitch. Nya and the gang suffers, the descendants of the FSM are nowhere to be found. Help them.

Villain's names are Mentar and Purna.

5. Firebird

It's just a Kai centric fanseason rather than a whole AU in itself. Horsemen themed (but I almost forgot mid-way), there's a firebird as suggested by the title. Set after Seabound.

Basically the 'horsemens' (none of them even have horses) are a group of high statuses people who lives in a pocket dimension still connected to Ninjago (made by fire, water, wind, earth and time) somewhere before the birth of the Spinjitzu Brothers (and the time twins so that's why time is included). One of them has a 'crush' on Kai.

Kai meanwhile is just doing what he's been doing at the beginning of Crystallized, met the new ninjas, mentored said new ninjas, gets caught up in the whole horsemen shit, Ray and Maya are also there, and at the same time, the og is a ninjas goes and gets Nya back, Ninjago falls into chaos help them

Tox, Neuro and Shade are also targeted by the horsemen but idk.

6. Absurd Swap

I sent like two asks to @terribleninjagoaus but basically, it's an AU where the new ninjas are the og ninjas, no, the og ninjas aren't the new ninjas (they're somewhere in the main lore), in fact, Zane is still the same, mostly. There's also a very alive Morro sort of taking Lloyd's role (no he's not the green ninja, he just wants his dad (Wu) back)

Lloyd takes Harumi's role, except he doesn't revive people, and Harumi takes Morro's role by searching for the realm crystal to bring her parents back from the departed realm.

Crystallized and Legacy of the Green Ninja switched Timeline places, the Hands of Time also swapped, but not exactly the way it is expected.

Idk of I wanted to switch PIXAL's and Skylor's debut or they should stay that way. Also Seliel is there and is an elemental master, she just uses more of her chemistry skills than her powers.

7. Danganronpa AU

hopefully not the same as @jay-reid 's dangan AU, but then again I didn't add the Spinjitzu Brothers in the roster.

8. Sort of Evillious AU (idk name)

This is me just messing around with Ninjago's history and just giving more suffering to the current generation and the seven deadly sins (+virtues but they're mostly dead). There's seven onis of chaos, the Overlord os one of them and their name's Varita and controls sand for some reason. Also Nexo Knights crossover??

9. Royal AU

Inspired by the webtoon "I Wanna Be U", just royalty AU with magic and conspiracies and uh, fluff and angst mostly fluff???

10. ElementBot

It's just no powers ninjago, the other ninjago species that aren't not-sentient animals or even humans are aliens. Also they are children with elemental robots servants that gives them their elemental powers that they can, in fact, take off anytime. (Yes, this is technically a Boboiboy AU)

FYI: Ninjago Theories is dead and has been for a long time. It was simply too stressful for me to continue, so I stopped doing it. However, I still do theories and answer questions - I just do it on this blog instead, mostly because there's less pressure for professionalism, since this is more of a personal blog.

However, considering that I’ve gotten this question many, many times in the past, I’ve decided to take the time to answer it now, just in case if I haven’t done so before. And as for the answer, it's actually pretty simple - the spell never required all of the elements in the first place.

Lots of people who have been following this blog (as in the blog I’m posting this on, birchwoodswolf; not Ninjago Theories) for some long time will know that I'm the main person working on decoding the Ninjago "Kanji", aka all of the text-like characters that are frequently scattered throughout the show. (It's usually not very hard to spot them, even if you aren't looking for them - they appear in lots of very obvious places in S6 and especially S7, though they made their debut all the way back in E31 of S3, and they've been scattered throughout every season since.)

As it just so happens, one place - namely, Clouse's grimoire - shows the exact elements (and preparations) needed to perform the spell. The post I made decoding it is very silly (because as it turn out, all you need to turn yourself into a powerful Anacondrai is a few ingredients and about an hour of cooking time), but it's also about one and a half years old. Over that time we've made a lot of progress with decoding even more - at this point, we've found all of the lowercase symbols, and every capital symbol except for either three or four (namely K, V, Y, and H - but it's possible we already have capital H, because it appears that capital and lowercase H share the same symbol).

To get back to your question, though, the spell actually doesn't require all the elements - as a matter of fact, it only requires seven: Lightning, Speed, Earth, Metal, Gravity, Poison, and Form. Because of this, it's unknown why Chen decided to summon all of the Elemental Masters, but if I had to guess, it might've been to throw people who might have known about the spell (for instance, Garmadon) off the scent, and leave them with no idea of his true motives. It's also possible that it was (either primarily or additionally) a power-grab, as it's very obvious that Chen's element-absorbing staff made him pretty much unstoppable once he had most of the elements.

Most interestingly, though, a lot of the actions that Chen takes and the specific fights that he sets up throughout the season seem a lot less arbitrary when considered through the lens that not all of the elements are essential - most interestingly, it can explain a lot of the match-up choices for the various fights and competitions. For instance, consider the first round of arranged fights in the Tournament (i.e. not the competitions where the winner could be any arbitrary person, like the first challenge with the Jade Blades). For a quick refresher, these were the pairings in the order the fights occurred, with the winner listed first:

The pattern here is not initially obvious - until you notice that most of the fights, the essential elements were paired up against each other, while nonessential elements were paired with other nonessential ones. In the Turner vs Gravis fight, for instance, Chen gains a required element no matter who wins or loses - and it's the same way with Cole vs Jay. Similarly, it doesn't matter who wins out of Kai vs Ash, or Skyl*r vs Jacob, because neither of those elements are required. Further, there are only two exceptions to this pattern, and they can be easily explained by the fact that Tox barely had a role in the season, and she just wasn't as interesting as Chamille (so Chamille was paired with Lloyd instead).

When considering S4 in the context of this theory, a lot of the other seemingly-arbitrary details start to make sense, too. For instance, it makes more sense for why Chen had to kidnap Zane - Lightning and Earth are two of the essential elements, so if Jay and Cole didn't show up, Chen couldn’t perform the spell. If this is true, it's also potentially possible that Chen could have somehow given a ransom to the other essential Elemental Masters, though this is purely speculation.

From a more meta point of view, it also makes sense for the spell to not require all the powers - at the point S4 was being written, it might not have been quite decided that Nya was the Master of Water, or they might have decided to fit that detail into S5 instead (possibly because of pacing). Additionally, I really don't think that the Time Twins were even a vague idea back then - S4 was probably being written in 2013 or 2014, and Dr. Saunders/Krux was only introduced in Day of the Departed, which first aired two years later (and, additionally, neither DOTD nor S7 were written by the Hagemans - another writer, David Shayne, had/has taken over for those. However, the Hagemans are confirmed to have returned to write S8).

So, yeah, I'd say that just about covers it. Long story short, there's a lot of somewhat hidden information we can still figure out about the series, and I don't think it's going to stop coming any time soon.

A few questions about the elemental compass ( or more like the people ) so if the four outlier elements are also nicknamed elements of destruction is there anything significant about them and the four core elements? About the element or the people themselves (for Examlpe with Nya and Zane since they're the only ones available) or do those who deviated from a core element get along better with the one their elements deviated from? Like with Tox and Cole or is it just personality wise? Would Jesse get along best with Jay? If the three Derivative from one core element would fight their core element would they lose power based Or would it be based on skills? If all the Derivative would learn spinjitzu and get together would they make a tornado similar to one of the core ones? Like all the Derivative from Earth would unite and it would be a tornado of Earth? In one chapter we could hear Lloyd feeling his connection with the four Core elements (expect for Kai but that came after) and he also mentioned something with Nyas power, does that mean he has a connection with all the other elemental master? Would he have to meet them first and make a connection with the person? Would he also have one with Jesse or is he not as focused with him? I'm sorry it's a lot of questions!

Would Jesse get along best with Jay?: It's not a guarantee that they'd "get along" (as I doubt Zane and Chamille would be besties or anything snksnksnk), but that natural Elemental connection does help set the stage to foster bonds between them. And it is part of why Tox and Cole hit it off so well, and why Jesse does grow to have a deeper bond with Jay than the other Ninja (save for the obvious). There's also a whole subplot in S4 about Cores vs Derivatives which ties into building on the other EMs' characters and stuff, so we'll be exploring a lot of this then, if not before!

If the three Derivatives from one Core element would fight their Core element would they lose power based or would it be based on skills?: Power-Based, it'd theoretically be an even match, and would be no different than if the Core Four all tried to battle Lloyd (or all the Derivatives tried to fight Lloyd snksnksn). For Example: Sound, Speed, and Surprise vs Lightning would technically just be Sound, Speed, and Surprise vs Sound, Speed, and Surprise but wrapped into one.

Skill-Based...yeah, the Cores would probably have the fight in the bag though, simply because they're Ninja and Spinjitzu Masters :V

No one else becomes a Spinjitzu Master (for story-reasons and personal preference reasons) BUT STILL, Derivative EMs combining their powers (in harmony) would be enough to invoke a Core Element! Just, it probably wouldn't be as cool-looking as doing a Tornado of Creation. Nor necessarily a tornado.
