The Masquerade is almost here! Thank you @saturnnutcracker for helping me with this lovely image!
You all have 20 days to send your part for the orginally planned deadline. With that said, I wanted to check if you are okay with that date, or if I should moved it to December 20th,so you have 10 extra days
Can´t wait to see what you all make!

The Top Female Vaganova Graduates of the Past Ten Years: Then and Now (Part I)
2015 - Renata Shakirova (Mariinsky Principal)
This was actually a tough one since 2015 was such an amazing year for graduates, especially considering that both the ninth year and eighth years graduated together. But in the end, Shakirova just seemed to me the most professional and technically strong in 2015! A star then and now!
Role I'd love to see her début: The Sylph
Special Mentions: Anastasia Lukina, Nika Tsvikhtaria, Elena Solomyanko
2015 (Laurencia at Graduation):
youtube
2024 (Dulcinea Variation in Don Quixote) :
youtube
2016 - Alyona Kovalyova (Bolshoi Principal)
This one was a no-brainer. While Maria Ilyushkina is a rising star now, her technique and strength in her Vaganova days were still developing while Kovalyova was the clear featured star graduate. After being rejected from Mariinsky for being too tall, she was offered a contract with the Bolshoi and quickly rose through the ranks, including spending only one year in the corps de ballet!
Role I'd love to see her début: Anna Karenina
Special Mentions: Maria Ilyushkina, Laura Fernandez-Gromova
2016 (Raymonda in Grand Pas shortly after graduating):
youtube
2024 (Nikiya in La Bayadère):
youtube
2017 - Eleonora Sevenard (Bolshoi Principal):
Another obvious choice, Sevenard was the clear stand-out. She was accepted into both the Mariinsky and the Bolshoi, before choosing the Bolshoi! She spent two years in the corps but was given soloist and principal opportunities right off the bat, including debuting as Masha in the Nutcracker in her first season. She was promoted to principal in 2023!
Role I'd love to see her début: Aurora
Special Mentions: Vlada Borodulina
2017 (Fairy Doll during graduate year):
youtube
2024 (Kitri in Don Quixote):
youtube
2018 - Maria Khoreva (Mariinsky First Soloist)
2018 was another year like 2015 with tons of amazing graduates. However, the graduate who garnered the most attention before and after graduation and who finished at the top of the class is Maria Khoreva. At only eighteen her technique was shockingly close to flawless and only two months into her first season she was promoted to first soloist! Khoreva has not be dancing for most of the past two seasons due to injury, but she is finally returning to the Mariinsky stage at the start of this season!
Role I'd love to see her début: Parasha (Bronze Horseman)
Special mentions: Maria Bulanova, Anastasia Nuikina, Daria Ionova, Anastasia Petushkova, Biborka Lendvai, Anita Voroshilova
2018 (Paquita shortly after her graduation):
youtube
2023 (Odile in Swan Lake last year):
youtube
2019 - Alexandra Khiteyeva (Mariinsky First Soloist)
Alexandra Khiteyeva was by far the strongest graduate of 2019. She had been featured in Vaganova graduation performances since her sixth year. After joining the Mariinsky, her initial progress was slowed due to COVID, but after four years in the Corps she was promoted, first to Second Soloist and just recently to First Soloist!
Role I'd love to see her début: Juliet
Special mentions: Svetlana Savelieva, Yulia Spiridonova
2019 (Paquita at graduation):
youtube
2023 (Cristina in Paquita):

EXCLUSIVE: Apple and Skydance‘s youth empowerment tale Way of the Warrior Kid, based on the 2017 novel by Jocko Willink, has tapped 14-year-old Belfast breakout Jude Hill for its lead role, also bringing on three-time Emmy nominee Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me) for a role.
Hill plays Marc, a self-doubting boy who gets bullied and is hard-pressed to complete a single pull-up, with Cardellini as Marc’s mother, Sarah. As we were first to report, Chris Pratt also stars in the film directed by McG.
In Way of the Warrior Kid, Marc’s uncle, Jake (Pratt), an elite Navy SEAL, is injured on a mission and moves in with his sister for rehab. When he discovers his 13-year-old nephew is struggling academically, socially and physically, Jake takes on a new mission: using his SEAL Team training over three months of summer to help the youth find his inner warrior.
We were first to report on the package out of Cannes, as Pratt and McG came aboard, also sharing word of the $80M-$85M global deal Skydance locked in with Apple, where the company has a first-look deal. The film will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, alongside McG and Mary Viola for Wonderland Sound, and Pratt for Indivisible Productions. Additional producers include Ben Everard for Everard Entertainment, and Willink. Will Staples (Without Remorse) adapted the screenplay.
Cardellini is coming off her starring role opposite Christina Applegate on Liz Feldman’s acclaimed dark comedy Dead to Me, which ran for three seasons, bringing her a pair of Emmy nominations, among other accolades. Also a producer on that series, she’s set to reteam with Feldman on No Good Deed, a new dark comedy from Feldman first announced in 2022, which also stars Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, and Luke Wilson. Soon, Cardellini will be seen starring opposite Ben Stiller in David Gordon Green’s comedy Nutcrackers, a project we first reported on, which is set to open this year’s Toronto Film Festival. She’s also the female lead opposite Vince Vaughn in Nonnas, Stephen Chbosky’s forthcoming comedy for Fifth Season and 1Community, which we announced.
Hill made his theatrical debut as Buddy, the young lead of Kenneth Branagh’s Academy-Award nominated and BAFTA winning Belfast — a coming-of-age drama examining a boy’s experience coming of age in late ’60s Northern Ireland amid the conflict known as The Troubles. For his performance opposite Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and Caitríona Balfe, he earned numerous awards, including Best Young Actor at the Critics Choice Awards and Best Newcomer at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards. Reteaming with Branagh since then on his Agatha Christie adaptation A Haunting in Venice, Hill will next be seen starring opposite Nicole Kidman, Gael García Bernal and Matthew Macfadyen in Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Holland, Michigan.
Other upcoming Apple Original Films produced by Skydance Media include genre-bender The Gorge starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy; Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinksi; and the action-adventure film pic May Day with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh in the lead.
Cardellini is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman; Hill by Berwick & Kovacik, UTA, and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin.

-I am in my fairytale era 🧚🏼♀️✨️🦢⛲️🪷❄️🏹🍎🪞🥀🫧🪺 -seedlings were planted back in December with reading E.T.A. 💘 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚁𝚘𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚜
-in October I watched Haunted Summer (1988) and rewatched Gothic (1986) and in doing so I realized I haven't read much from Lord Byron. I then bought his Selected Poems and Don Juan 📜 -reading his work is also likely to lead to finding a biography about him, and works by and about the other Lake Geneva attendees: Mary Wollstonecraft (Shelley), Percy Bysshe Shelley, Claire Clairmont, John Polidori (I have previously read Frankenstein and The Vampyre)
💘 ᑘᘉᕼᓰᘉᘜᘿᕲ ᘺᓍᘻᘿᘉ / ᖴᘿᘻᗩᒪᘿ ᖇᗩᘜᘿ
-at the beginning of January I really wanted to start reading Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, but soon afterwards I found out an internet booktube friend died suddenly, so I was a little out of it last month. Boy Parts was actually on her 2024 tbr, so I definitely want to get to it soon when the spur strikes again. 📷 -honestly, since finding out about her death, though it has taken me some time, I'm even more determined to get to books and movies I've been wanting to read and to watch for years! things I've put off because of high expectations or whatever. things I think will be new all-time favs, 5/5 stars, etc. I'm going to read them! and one of those is A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers 🍖🍇 -I'm now realizing, when you think about it, certain Jean Rollin films could probably be categorized here 🧛🏼♀️

If you guys don't know, I was on Artfight 2024. I somewhat did animation attacks and it was hard to choose which one I wanted to showcase- so- I chose the one that actually took a while to make (estimated 2 hours at least)
I had to take my chance. Noova was on the opposite team and I was originally planning an animation for Nutcracker Month ft. Him and Cassy. But this is a substitute.
I wonder what he's wishing for.

New year, new things
27.01.2024
Šťastný nový rok!
- Okay, to be honest, this saying comes a bit late haha but I mean it's been more than a month since I last posted here. And since then there was a turn of the year and now we're already here in 2024. Of course, at the end of last year, many things were happening too but I'll keep the topic of Christmas and New Year's Eve short, otherwise, it would get out of hand before I could even shed light on the current month.;D
To sum it up: I enjoyed a very nice Christmas holiday with my family, had the chance to see many of my friends again and to name some events - I was in the theatre, went partying, watched a movie in the cinema, went bowling and celebrated New Year's Eve together with my friends. I was pottering with my sister, enjoyed a movie night as well as going on lots of coffee dates with my girls and that's not even all…
My holidays at home were wonderful and I'm so happy that I took the chance to meet so many people again but therefore it was also busier than expected and there was definitely not enough time to relax completely. That's also what I felt when I came back to Plzeň and has probably been the reason for me to become ill right on my first day of work. :/ Gladly I only needed a bit of rest and was able to be back already the following day. The first conversations were very nice and I felt the energy everyone had for the new year. It felt good to be back in a routine and to have some order in my everyday life again.
Nevertheless, I had the feeling that it was time for some change. I mean - new year, new resolutions and new motivation to try something different, right? That's why I had some "first times" in January… Let's start with the cultural part of my life.;) This month I visited the Great Theatre in Plzeň for the first time and watched a performance of "The Nutcracker" together with my colleague Lenka. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this was one of the best theatre visits I've had in my life so far. The costumes, the ballet performance, the stage design, the live orchestra together with the choir and the mix of original pieces with modern and humorous parts - everything was just right and I felt more than entertained during that evening. The Great Theatre itself is beautifully detailed as well as quite impressive and of course, our tickets for the next show at the beginning of February as well as in April have already been booked and I'm looking forward to being there again soon.
I also felt extremely motivated for sports in the new year. Even though I had already been active here before and had mainly done home workouts and short runs, I also wanted to try something new. So, on the one hand, I spontaneously bought some really good running shoes to motivate myself a little more to jog aaaand I also completed my first volleyball training here last week! :D This was honestly a really spontaneous thing. I played this sport for about 1 year, when I was younger and after that almost every summer at the beach or sometimes in school and I still love the combination of playing in a team and moving my body in various ways. So I thought to myself "Why not starting again? – but I think one thing that has stopped me a bit so far was the fact that this team sport also lives from communication and I was not sure if I would find one club in Plzeň where English conversation was possible too. But then I just surfed the Internet and it didn't take me long to find this cool club named "Beach Service" that offers beach volleyball training for young people as well as adults. After a short email exchange and phone call with all the information I needed, I had my first training session. It was definitely tough but enjoyable at the same time and it's so nice how the coaches always explain to me everything in English again. I'm motivated to continue with the sport and of course, I'll let you know if they already send me to the Olympics this year. ;D
This month I also met Isabelle, the new German volunteer of "Tandem", another organization here in Plzeň. Our energy matched right away and we quickly realized that we had a lot in common. At our second meeting Isabelle and I went to the cinema before we had dinner at the "Pivstro" (the best Burger place in Plzeň :D) and took a nightcap at one of my favourites - "Café Regner". We talked so much and when I arrived home I only saw the message from Isabelle saying "I just realized that we spent 6 hours together!!" - and I also thought how crazy it is that time flies by when you feel comfortable around somebody because that was exactly what I experienced with her. :)
There is also some news at work. Besides the tasks I've already had before I started a new little project outside of TOTEM. Every Tuesday I go to a school for one to two hours and join the English lesson for children between 9 and 11 years. I remember, how excited they have been and how overwhelmed I was when I first visited them. It was something completely new for me as the children of course were very energetic and boisterous- the opposite of the seniors I work with. But I've got used to it and they are also not as agitated as at our first meeting but always happy to see me haha. And I'm very happy to meet them too, because everyone is so unique and lovely and at the same time it's nice to have some more variety at work right now.
But I want to be honest with you, besides all the good and exciting things that happen, I'm not super happy all the time. I can remember how it took me a few days to get used to being here again, to have a routine again, and sometimes things at work don't go as planned and I have the feeling that I could do better. For example in the conversational lessons, when I create a video for the TOTEM YouTube channel, or during my Czech lessons when I have the perception that I should be much better in the language so far. But in those moments I often tell myself to not concentrate on the negative thoughts I have or mistakes I make but rather to focus on the good things and on the positive feedback I get. In those moments I try to be proud of everything I've not only achieved but also learned so far. I want to make my time here enjoyable and unforgettable and therefore I want to look back at my year without thinking about the negative situations but with a smile on my face and the thought that everything happened for a reason and that I'm glad for all the experiences I was able to make. :)
Picture of the snowy landscape on my way home
Santa Claus comes to visit on Christmas Eve ;D
With my girls on New Year's Eve <3
Back in Plzeň in the beautiful Great Theatre
Inauguration of my new running shoes :D
Sunset at my favourite place at the Kamený rybník
Coffee date with Isabelle;)
The most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen <3
Next month is going to be very exciting and busy and I'm already looking forward to it.
Stay tuned and see you in February Laila:)

i hate the end of the year cuz i inevitably think about this year and the year coming . also i got my period today so that's flared up my system And causing me to have a #major depressive episode . moping below the cut
my portable oxygen concentrator (his name is duško) hasn't been Helping in months despite trying to troubleshoot so i'm giving him a few more trials before i give up spending the monthly 25.97
the mcas foundation website now has a doctor local to me so i'm going to try and get an appointment with her but she's a hematologist and i sooooo don't want bone marrow testing unless it's absolutely necessary . i should also find a dermatologist but i'm hoping maybe since this hematologist has mast cell knowledge she'll be able to identify my skin symptoms
i lose my health insurance at the end of 2024 . social security still hasn't gotten back to me about my most recent application for disability benefits (submitted august) but i know it will first be rejected and i'll have to get a lawyer. but i also have extremely low expectations for getting on at all bc federally they're rolling back medicaid/medicare and dropping millions of people.
i still can't work bc of my symptoms. and even if i could work, the job market is dog shit . and i also don't have a degree .
im still beyond isolated and it's just getting worse cuz i'm getting avoidant and people care less and less about covid.
i will push forward i will take up space i will live my stupid life i will get piercings and tattoos and friends and away from my parents and make cool art and love and love and love and be loved . but fuck !!!!!!!
blasting the nutcracker . images

October is almost over and while I didn't reach all the goals I wanted, this month has been filled with so many blessings so far.
I'm most likely getting a huge promotion at work. I say most likely because even though I met with everyone and my transition has already been approved and we have a date of my transition set, I won't believe it til we have got the salary and benefits official, and I sign the contract. That way if last minute it falls apart I won't be disappointed.
My health issues are slowly getting all figured out, I still have more doctors appointments but with each diagnosis and non diagnosis I feel like I can get control of things .which is going to help me as I'm starting to change my diet up more. I want to lose weight but realistically that can't be my focus right now. Right now I need to focus on how I should be eating for the health issues I do have (thankfully none of them are diabetes or pre diabetes). Then once I get used to that I'll meet up with a nutritionist to come up with a plan.
School is going great. 99% sure I'll have 4.0gpa at end of the semester. I've also registered for next semester classes and looking into professional orgs I can join in the new year.
I'm still doing ballet 3x a week, nutcracker season is going well. I want to get back on point end of year but realistically I won't be surprised if I don't. I can see some areas I can approve on that would make pointe alot easier for me but we will see what our ballet school director thinks when evaluation time comes. Going back to gym this coming week finally. I haven't been in month
Other than that I've been just living life. Found a new church that I absolutely love and hope to make my home church. Ballet season has started and we saw our first of the season over the weekend, had family game night (me and my roommates are found family), went to the movies , got dressed up and had a nice dinner and drinks with friend downtown at this very gorgeous restaurant. Next weekend we are going to the symphony to see a special Halloween themed concert, and then Halloween and that's basically all I have planned for the rest of my month
I'm looking forward to what the rest of this year will bring for me though and already thinking about what things I want to accomplish in 2024 ( one of them being finally getting my license and a car of my own)
