MEL I WANTED TO SHARE A LIL HEADCANON WITH YOU: Halsin like sitting Othello in his lap and showing him how to whittle and guiding his hands and i'm like wait Mal is with Halsin that would be such a cute little headcanon. And also Othello officially calls Halsin "papa bear" and it makes me insane anyways <3

No, but that is actually incredibly sweet!! And especially for Othello, to use his hands to create something so gentle and fragile?? To share such a soft intimate moment with his lover?? After a lifetime of brutality?? 👌😩

I do HC that Halsin loves touching and holding Mal, it brings him comfort, so it would absolutely make sense that he'd try to teach her by gently guiding her hands, even as a little innocent excuse to be close to her. And even if at first Maleane thinks that the whole whittling business is a little silly, she grows to appreciate it because not only does it have practical applications (making utensils and all is pretty useful), she can also see how it affects Halsin, when he's focused on the task. It's grounding, it's calming, and she loves watching him; his focused face, those massive hands creating something so gentle 😭

And don't even get me started on papa Halsin. Because just his relationship with Thoriel is everything to me. He never mentions it, he doesn't bring it up, he just immediately steps up to the role. Halsin takes care of them both as if they've been together for years. Halsin, the man that you are 😩😍

So one thing led to the other and suddenly I drew @laiostoudenn's tav Othello and Voradras, together with their respective Gales on vacation in Calimshan.

Backstory and details under cut!

So it all started when Othello's Gale opened a portal and Voradras and his Gale stumbled into their kitchen in Waterdeep. After a lot of initial confusion the group got to know each other, realising a portal between their different realities had been opened. A steadfast friendship developed between Voradras and Othello, and they promised to visit each other again soon. And that they did. Alternating between universes they met often, teaching each other parts of their cultures and visiting places together with their Gales. At one point Othello mentioned that he had never been to a proper beach before, so after some research, Voradras had the idea for the group to head down to Calimshan, to the Shining Sea for a couple's vacation. It's been great fun for everyone, though Voradras slightly underestimated the power of the sun so far down south.

A single mechadendrite extends and reaches toward her hand, the tip flickering with pink electricity. "Perhaps you should take my hand. It is my understanding that human-human contact helps facilitate emotional connection." Amity eyes the act curiously, but does not outright deny it. "Do you want me to grab your mechadendrite?" She tilts her head slightly, eyes on the machine, "Or your actual hand?" "Is there a difference?" Pasqal's voice is emotionless, but there is a hint of joy in his eyes. The mechadendrite seems to move slightly, shifting its grip so that the tip rests against her palm. "I have modified my neural pathways to process mechanical stimuli as physical sensation. I can tell the difference between something touching my mechadendrites and something touching my hands, it should feel the same." Amity's eyes run up the mechadendrite to Pasqal's face, locked on the one human eye. She pauses for a moment, deciding what to do, hovering there with the metal in her palm. After a few moments, her fingers wrap around the mechadendrite, holding the cold metal gently. "I have not had the opportunity to form a genuine connection with a human for many years," Pasqal confesses, his voice growing softer. "I appreciate the gesture of friendship you are offering me." His expression softens, the mechadendrite on his back twisting slightly at the touch. As Amity grips the mechadendrite a little tighter, she can feel an unfamiliar sensation, a rush of pleasure as the Mechadendrite releases a small electric pulse from its surface.

Love as a Threshold

Your love does not ask for much. Your love does not take. Your love is free, and unquestioned, and here for wherever needs it. When you fall in love, it is as gentle as a breath in the night. It is quiet, and it is effortless. It is tender. If your love was a house, it would readily welcome all who come through. When you fall for someone, it is without strings, without conditions, without need. You love for the sake of loving, for the sake of caring for those who need it. 14. what was your tav's life like before they got kidnapped by the mindflayers?

Tavira was a full time adventurer in the ~5 years between her uh, widowhood starting and getting kidnapped. She didn't have many people she would adventure with multiple times (@nularas' boy Lance being an exception) because her abandonment issues, but she enjoyed the freedom that came with it. And the danger... Aaaand the gold.

15. is your tav leaning into their newfound illithid abilities, or rejecting them altogether?

She did at first, only opting for the powers she could really use (luck of the far realms) but came to distrust it pretty quickly and stopped consuming the tadpoles before too long.

20. does your tav have a best friend in the party? what's their dynamic like?

shadowheart is like a little sister (which is funny because she turns out to be significantly older), but Karlach is the bad impulse control friend who can also scold tavira for pushing herself too hard and force her to lay down.
