So one thing led to the other and suddenly I drew @laiostoudenn's tav Othello and Voradras, together with their respective Gales on vacation in Calimshan.

Backstory and details under cut!

So it all started when Othello's Gale opened a portal and Voradras and his Gale stumbled into their kitchen in Waterdeep. After a lot of initial confusion the group got to know each other, realising a portal between their different realities had been opened. A steadfast friendship developed between Voradras and Othello, and they promised to visit each other again soon. And that they did. Alternating between universes they met often, teaching each other parts of their cultures and visiting places together with their Gales. At one point Othello mentioned that he had never been to a proper beach before, so after some research, Voradras had the idea for the group to head down to Calimshan, to the Shining Sea for a couple's vacation. It's been great fun for everyone, though Voradras slightly underestimated the power of the sun so far down south.

MEL I WANTED TO SHARE A LIL HEADCANON WITH YOU: Halsin like sitting Othello in his lap and showing him how to whittle and guiding his hands and i'm like wait Mal is with Halsin that would be such a cute little headcanon. And also Othello officially calls Halsin "papa bear" and it makes me insane anyways <3

No, but that is actually incredibly sweet!! And especially for Othello, to use his hands to create something so gentle and fragile?? To share such a soft intimate moment with his lover?? After a lifetime of brutality?? 👌😩

I do HC that Halsin loves touching and holding Mal, it brings him comfort, so it would absolutely make sense that he'd try to teach her by gently guiding her hands, even as a little innocent excuse to be close to her. And even if at first Maleane thinks that the whole whittling business is a little silly, she grows to appreciate it because not only does it have practical applications (making utensils and all is pretty useful), she can also see how it affects Halsin, when he's focused on the task. It's grounding, it's calming, and she loves watching him; his focused face, those massive hands creating something so gentle 😭

And don't even get me started on papa Halsin. Because just his relationship with Thoriel is everything to me. He never mentions it, he doesn't bring it up, he just immediately steps up to the role. Halsin takes care of them both as if they've been together for years. Halsin, the man that you are 😩😍
