"Where is Furina?" Neuvillette paused from his paperwork to ask Sedene.

The Melusine arched a brow at him and slightly tilted her head at the unfamiliar name.

"Who?"

Now it was his turn to arch a brow at her.

"Furina," he reiterated clearly. He turned his head to the grandfather clock inside his office, its short hand pointing to the number three. "She usually comes at this hour for tea."

"Furina?" Sedene brought finger to her chin, brows furrowing as she tried hard to recall the owner of that name. "Hmm... Furina."

"Lady Furina," Neuvillette repeated with emphasis, his tone slightly annoyed. "Are you alright, Sedene?"

"Monsieur," the Melusine stared at him curiously; "I honestly do not know who you're referring to." She shrugged her shoulders. "I have never heard of this Furina you speak of. Is she a party to a case you're presiding? An employee, or��"

"She's the Hydro Archon," Neuvillette said, still baffled; "Or rather, she's the former Hydro Archon."

Sedene blinked at him.

"That can't be, Monsieur Neuvillette," she said. "You are and have always been the Hydro Archon of Fontaine."

His lavender eyes grew wide.

"What?!"

This is a short excerpt from one of my neuvifuri wips titled "Wish".

In this au, Neuvillette finds himself in a world where Furina never existed.

Or so he thought.

He then leaves Fontaine in search for answers and stumbles upon Furina in Sumeru's desert.

However, Furina doesn't have any memory of him or the past where she was the Hydro Archon who saved Fontaine.

Shrek-inspired neuvifurithesley au

Wriothesley lives in peaceful solitude in the Forest of Meropide until one day, Lord Arlecchino drives out the Melusines from her kingdom, forcing them to seek refuge in Wriothesley's territory.

Wriothesley is outraged by Arlecchino's treatment of the Melusines and demands that she let them return to their homes.

Arlecchino agrees on the condition that Wriothesley rescue Princess Furina who has been locked away in a faraway tower guarded by a ferocious dragon. Arlecchino wants to marry the princess to become king of Fontaine, and Wriothesley accepts her condition and sets out to bring the princess to Fontaine.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Furina and her guardian dragon, Neuvillette (who is capable of taking on a human form) are actually lovers.

When Neuvillette senses Wriothesley's arrival, he transforms back into a dragon to confront the newcomer. However, Wriothesley is undaunted by the dragon and manages to severely injure him during a battle. He could have killed Neuvillette had Furina not intervened at the last second.

She runs to a now human Neuvillette and tends to his injuries while Wriothesley stands utterly bewildered. Afterwards, Furina and Neuvillette explain their situation to Wriothesley who, in turn, tells them his reasons for coming.

Furina refuses to marry Arlecchino while Neuvillette expresses his concern for the Melusines. Then, the three of them come up with a plan to overthrow Arlecchino and help the Melusines as well.

On their way to Fontaine, Furina and Neuvillette develop feelings for Wriothesley whom they eventually invite to spend the night with them before confronting Arlecchino.

The next day, Neuvillette, in his dragon form, storms Arlecchino's castle, and Wriothesley and Furina force her to surrender her kingdom.

Arlecchino leaves Fontaine and the people rejoice now that they are free from Arlecchino's cruel reign. The Melusines thank Wriothesley for his valiant efforts and they and the rest of the Fontainians elect Wriothesley to be their new king.

Wriothesley asks Furina and Neuvillette to stay by his side and co-rule Fontaine with him, and they agree while also continuing their polyamorous relationship.

Then they all lived happily ever after.

I know this isn't exactly like the film shrek; it's just a story idea inspired by it 😅 and tho it wasn't ever explicitly stated above, there will be sm*t in this au 👀👀
