He had been having memory problems as of late, and his board members were insistantly annoying that he had been checked out, James knew that he was just tired, he had been building his empire rapidly, and agressively, much like the greats before him had done. But at the same time he knew to appease the board if he wanted to continue to get his way. So he was sitting in an exam room, waiting for the nuerosurgeon to examine him and his scans they sent for already. James just thought it was an over exageration, he was sending emails on his phone as he waited.

Been a little bit, but itβs time for Grinch (from MW32011) updated for my amusement and use in Reboot related fics;
Archie βGrinchβ McGlothlin
Lieutenant with the american anti-terrorist Delta Force Unit. (Sandman might be getting a promotion within my reboot expansion)
35 years old
6β3, long-limbed and lean, tans easily and freckles even easier. Golden blond hair and ridiculously pretty blue hazel eyes. Unfairly pretty eyelashes.
Born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains, Grinch is used to people underestimating his intellect because of his βhillbillyβ accent. And it amuses him greatly to prove those people wrong. The son of a nuerosurgeon and literal rocket scientist, Grinch is almost always the smartest person in any room. He has doctorates in both computer science and biochemistry (which the military paid for, thank you very much).
Has a scathing dislike of good olβ boy Texans like Shepherd and Graves and has gotten into trouble with Shepherd because of this. He tends to be just a little insubordinate. Lucky for him, heβs invaluable as a Delta Force operative and Shepherd canβt really touch him. He has come to blows with Graves in the past. Sandman has a βshut upβ embargo on Grinch whenever they have to work with either.
Would happily kill for Metal Team.
He has been accused (by Frost) of having supervillain tendencies. Grinch does not disagree. Metal keeps him humble, though.

I donβt know what I was expecting out of my neurosurgeon appointment today, but I certainly was not really prepared to hear βyou absolutely have tethered cord AND Chiari,β and also βyouβre a surgical candidate for TCS releaseβ
I have been fighting for answers for years. Between my own research and literally drawing on my scans, no specialist (nor even my previous pcp) ever even believed I was having any of the issues Iβve been reporting, let alone *all* of them, and not receiving care fire. Surely I had to be receiving adequate care, or I was lying about the severity of what Iβve been trying to deal with.
Reader, I was still underreporting the amount of physical pain Iβve been in for yearsβpartially because Iβve been told Iβm βfine,β or βtoo youngβ my whole life and partially because I was already not being taken seriously.
In my exam today, my nuerosurgeon validated my years of lived experiences and my in depth research centered around finding my answers myself. She condemned previous doctors and specialists Iβve seen and the inadequate radiology reports. She drew on my imaging in the same way I did when I was trying to prove my need for specific specialists. She acknowledged my pain, and discomfort, and it was all very genuine, very unexpected, and very relieving.
I am so genuinely shocked, I donβt even know how to react. I could be having surgery as early as the middle of next month.
#which scares me for obvious reasons but also because weβre still in a PANDEMIC#but also I have real#concrete#irrefutable diagnoses#in my chart#and a plan of direct action#β¦.what???#I am so shocked and so relieved I havenβt processed any of this#I will admit I do feel an odd sense of satisfaction for figuring these things out myself (and with the help of my physical therapist)#but holy hell#today has been a LOT#olive blogs#disability#disabled#tethered cord#chiari

what is brain tumor?
A brain tumor is caused by abnormal cell growth in the brain, which leads to the formation of tumors inside the brain. These tumors can be malignant or benign, and the symptoms of these tumors can be headaches, loss of vision, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, seizures, and changes in mood and personality. It can be treated using neurosurgery for brain tumors or by practicing endoscopic brain surgery. Also, the tumors can cause chronic pain in individuals, which can be treated and cured using neurosurgery for chronic pain or by doing endoscopic brain surgery.

i come back from hiatus and bring yet another au !! twice superhero au !! maybe i'll write something for this if you guys are interested hehe
background - not very far in the future, some humans are born with mutated genes that at a certain time in their life activate. these mutated genes allow them to have powers beyond imagination. not everyone's powers manifest at the same time, some people's starts when they are toddlers and others when they are in their sixties, but it's estimated about 5% of the population carries these mutated genes. not long after the first people with powers started popping up, various governments around the world started to take these people in for research. though that quickly turned bad, as many research facilities violated many human rights and these people, called mutants by the government, were forced into hiding. eventually some people started using their powers to commit crimes, while others became hunters for the government to find mutants and bring them in. in any case, underground groups of mutants have been emerging to try and fight back again the entire world being against them. twice are an elite group of fighters for one of these underground groups and they go on many missions while trying to keep their day to day lives as normal people away from there missions.
nayeon - has the power to manipulate time. it starts with small incrimates but as she gains control of it she's able to better understand how to use her power. she has learned the hard way though that messing up the timeline too much can have devastating effects on the people she's trying to save. nayeon's day job is working as a kindergarten teacher. codename: paradox
jeongyeon - has the ability to read people minds. additionally, she can unleash physic attacks on people that cause headaches and pain. like nayeon, she is able to do more once she has a better grasp on her abilities. jeongyeon doesn't like going out in the field much and since her day job is working as a software engineer she runs a lot of logistics for the team with tzuyu. codename: clarity
momo - has the ability of super speed. she ran track in high school before her abilities manifested and she likes to say that it was fate. she can get across seoul in less than five minutes on a good day. her day job is as a geologist. codename: swift
sana - has the ability to manipulate fire. she can create and control fire and it makes her a great offensive member of the team. usually gets paired with mina for missions as mina tends to calm her more reckless and excitable sides. has been best friends with momo since they were born. sana's day job is running her family's huge fashion empire as the ceo. codename: blaze
jihyo - has the ability to manipulate weather. she mainly uses it to control lighting when fights. when she has worse control over her power she would occasionally cause weird weather when she experiencing strong emotions. her day job is being the cfo of sana's family's company. codename: sunshine
mina - has the ability to turn invisible. and not jsut to people, she can use her ability to make her be "invisible" to objects so she's able to walk through solid objects like walls and doors and such. mina's day good is working as the lead nuerosurgeon at her family's hospital, which leads her to basically being the team doctor. codename: phase
dahyun - has the ability to teleport. at first it's only over short distances, but over time she's able to master her abilities more and more and go further and further. she can also teleport any object she touching, including people. her day job is a florist. codename: the magician
chaeyoung - has an ability that everything she touches turns into a projectile going over 300 mph. basically she can turn anything she touches into a bullet. she has to wear special gloves so she doesn't accidentally do it in public (again). her day job is as a photographer for a newspaper. codename: aero hand
tzuyu - has the ability of super strength. she doesn't like using it much, for personal reasons. so she tries to stay behind with jeongyeon and run mission control. her day job as a mechanical engineer with a chemistry focus often comes in handy.
special mentions
hana - has the ability to control ice. momo's sister.
nico - has the ability to temporarily absorb other abilities from those around her. she can only hold one at a time.
ships - samoyeon, jeongmihyo, smc

for a hopeless romantic, elijah james ullman always found the beauty in everything. his parents had met when they were both studying for medicine, fell in love, and excelled in their medical fields. their love story was one for the books. this was of course many centuries ago.
ej loved hearing about their love story, and he loved that they were still ambitious and love the work that they did, and he was the product of their love.
elijah james ullman was born into phoenix, just like his dad blaise. it was something that he always fear, realizing that when he died, a new version of himself would be born and his old self would be lost forever.
growing up, ej was one who was very in touch with his emotions. he was a vibrant child, who was very imaginative, but also sensitive. his parents worried though that their son would be taken advantage of with all his characteristics he showed.
ej was a daydreamer, and unrealistic paths ended up becoming something he dealt with a lot. becoming an older brother helped with realizing he had to become more realistic, that eventually he became very self-critical with things he did.
even with all that, being a phoenix was something he was good at. controlling his abilities, learning new ones. but one thing he didn't want was the memories that would one day come crashing in. he was afraid of the decisions he might have done in his past life. or maybe it was so good, he'd be sad of what he had lost.
as he got older, he decided that he wanted to follow in his parents footsteps, doctors, what was new? so he went to college for it, and took all the years for him to finally get his medical license.
for a long time he debated whether he wanted to be a brain surgeon like his father or a heart surgeon like his mother, but he discovered that he was good with kids. so he decided paeds was what he'd do. helping children of all kinds.
now that he was reaching his first half century, he finds himself wanting some change. maybe he's been wanting to find love like his parents, or maybe he feels being a doctor isn't for him. he's still figuring it out.

What is minimally invasive spine surgery
The main aim of minimally invasive spine surgery is to treat spine conditions with the least amount of incision and a faster recovery time. The minimally invasive surgery uses the latest and most specialized instruments, like endoscopes and lasers, to access the spine and perform the necessary procedures.

Trump's campaign team is seriously accusing Brian Kemp of taking "millions and millions of Democrat dollars to change the vote in Georgia to Biden". Keep in mind, Brian Kemp is the Republican governor of Georgia who has been one of the most pro-Trump governors in the union and whose campaign was basically just "I'm Trump but running for governor"
It's absolutely ludicrous.
His campaign is also calling his supporters to boycott the vote for Purdue and Loeflur because both of them came out against his crackpot scheme to have the Republican-led Georgia legislature to vote to send Republican electors to DC, instead of the Democrat electors that should be sent because Biden won the state (his campaign is also heavily pressing Republicans in other states he lost to Biden, such as Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to do the same thing), a move that is wholly undemocratic and extremely authoritarian and power hungry.
It's insanity. Trump and his insane antics are going to cost Republicans the senate, and the Dem base is going to push HARD for court packing, eliminating the legislative filibuster (and thus killing minority rights in the senate), pass the "equal rights amendment" which would kill free speech and allow possible jail time and harsh fines (as currently written) for "misgendering" an LGBT individual (not to mention completely undermine religious freedom and conscientiousness rights), pass a Green New Deal that would completely eliminate the progress we have made in reducing emissions (via switching to natural gas and more nuclear) in favor of currently unreliable solar and wind (when Germany tried this same thing and phased out their nuclear and natural gas plants, they saw a net rise in emissions because solar and wind weren't enough to meet their energy demands...so they had to open more coal plants which are the absolute worst for the environment)...not to mention placing a huge amount of the economy under de facto government control
Whether the Dempcraric senate with Kamala harris at its head as VP and the tiebreaking vote would actually do any of the above remains to be seen, but it is all within the realm of possibility, and moderates in both parties have historically been having a hard time standing up to the extremists in the recent past, so I dont have much hope right now.
The sooner Trump and his cult of personality are off the scene, the better, because holy shit is he such a fucking baby
And it's Trump's own damned fault he lost Georgia and Arizona in the first place. Thousands of Republicans who voted in the primary elections, in both states, didnt wind up casting any ballot in the general election.
This is because they voted by mail in during the primaries, out of concern for the virus. With Trump constantly saying you can't trust mail in ballots and to not even bother trying to vote by mail because "they will change your vote to Biden", these Trump-voters, who were also concerned about the virus, just didnt vote. If Trump had told his supporters to vote mail-in if they were too concerned about the pandemic to vote in person, he probably would have won both states.
Not to mention his fucking horrendous treatment of Senator McCain, one of the most popular senators in Arizona's history and who was a fucking war hero, definitely drove down his numbers in that state, and probably many other too.
Trump's own idiocy, not Brian Kemp or anyone else, definitely cost him Georgia, it probably cost him Arizona, and God knows how many other votes he might have had if he had just been a little less vile of a human being.
The sooner he leaves the scene, the better things will be for the Republican party and conservatives in general, because if he keeps it up, he's going to cost Republicans the senate.
Trump 100% deserved to lose. He just seems to be intent on dragging Republicans, and the conservative movement, down with him.
The fact that so many are still following him and treating every lie he spreads as "Gospel" shows that maybe they deserve to lose too, at this rate.
I still can't fucking believe a Qanon conspiracy believer beat a nuerosurgeon in the Republican primary for that one house seat in Georgia
It's insanity, and anyone who calls themselves a conservative or thinks of themselves as right wing should be embarrassed.
Sorry about the rant y'all, this is just infuriating.

What podcasts are you listening to!!!
Oh! Iβm sort of a mess about podcasts, but I mostly listen to true crime, and then mbmbam
My Favorite Murder:Β Hosts Karen and Georgia each pick out a true crime story every week and take turns sharing them with each other. Fairly surface level and conversational storytelling; if youβre here, its mostly for the funny banter and the basic-but-not-bad feminismΒ
Last Podcast on the Left:Β Hosts Markus, Ben, and Henry do extensive research and take deep dives into true crime, conspiracy theories, aliens, and other supernatural stuff. (heads up: theyβre not always pc, and their humor can be dark and insensitve. so. yoikes.)
Serial (specifically, the first season):Β An investigative journalism podcast hosted by Sarah Koenig. The first season investigates the murder of Hae Min Lee and the ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed, who was arrested for it. A sort of did-he-didnβt-he type season.
Someone Knows Something: Another investigative journalism podcast, hosted by David Ridgen. The first season investigates the 40 year old disappearance of a boy named Adrien McNaughton, who vanished on a family fishing trip.Β
Doctor Death:Β A Wondery podcast hosted by Laura Beil exposing former nuerosurgeon Christopher Duntsch for gross malpractice that resulted in the deaths of two patients and the maiming of four.Β Β
My Brother, My Brother, and Me: McElroy brothers Justin, Travis, and Griffin host βan advice show for the modern era.β Itβs a comedy podcast! You know the boys! And if you donβt then please do because they are so funny and they saved me life.Β
