hi sorry to keep bothering you about these silly drama students but now I wanna ask if you have any angsty headcanons about

You are not bothering me at all, I love getting asks!

And getting to discuss these silly drama students in particular is just an added bonus.

As for angsty headcanons? Not really, they’re all doing really well but…

Part of Josephine not laughing during scenes is because of her hating her laugh, so she avoids doing it. This is more obvious in improv or try not to laugh challenges where everyone is more focused on her laugh and there’s no need to hold back for the sake of a script

Max has a habit of mistaking Trevor for Richie (if he’s walking through the hallway alone) and has beaten him up on multiple occasions

Trevor doesn’t like walking through the school alone now, always insists on having someone with him

Kevin and Caitlyn are both only children, however, Kevin’s parents have lost several children; whereas Cait’s parents just had the one kid. Both felt lonely a lot when they were younger

Cait and Josie are doomed never to get to Broadway together, only one gets out of Hatchetfield in every timeline

Watching NPMD will be very difficult after watching TCBOB because I will not be able to unsee Joey’s drama student character as Matt carter. Tell me I’m not the only one who sees it. Which brings me to the joke headcanon that Matt Carter wants a role so badly. That he mastered hopping universes. That is Matt Carter. (This is entirely a joke I swear)

NPMD ELECTIVE, LANGUAGE AND EXTRACURRICULAR HEADCANNONS!!

Peter takes French because he’s a try hard (no offense to anybody who took French, but from what I’ve heard it’s really difficult.) He’s also in marching band, he plays the clarinet. He’s in the Math Club, Coding Club, and French Club.

Steph takes Spanish because it seemed the easiest. She used to be on the track team but she hated it and eventually got kicked off for not running. She takes as few classes as she can to get enough credits each year. Her dad makes her take the Speech elective. She’s also in Mock Trial Club (her dad’s idea). She’s also the school’s student vice president, but she doesn’t actually do anything.

Grace takes a Greek class outside of school, because HFH didn’t offer it as a language. She doesn’t do any sports. She’s in yearbook, and mostly just takes pictures and does interviews (she got kicked off the main writing team because she kept going on tangents about Jesus). She’s president of the Christianity Club, and a member of Community Service Club.

Richie takes Japanese as his language for obvious reasons. He wanted to join the swim team, but was self-conscious about having to wear a swimsuit that covered his chest. He’s in AP art as of his senior year. He’s technically in Mock Trial, but doesn’t really go to the club meetings. He’s also a member of the GSA and ASL club. He’s tried to get an Anime Club approved, but the school keeps turning him down.

Ruth takes Japanese with Richie. She hates sports and absolutely refuses to be on any teams. She only really takes Drama, though she never acts and only does the light booth. (She was assistant student director once, but she got super nervous.) She’s in the ASL club, and uses sign language with Richie whenever she gets super nervous or doesn’t want to talk out loud. She’s also a member of the GSA.

Max took the least amount of years required of Spanish as he could. He’s (obviously) on the football team, though he originally wanted to do wrestling. He usually puts in random electives for each year, and shows up only so his grades stay up. He’s never let them dip so low that he got kicked off the team. He joined the Christianity Club to spend time with Grace, but it got boring and he left.

My work in progress sketch for the lords in black as humans for a fic I'm writing. So far I have Wiggly, Tinky, and Nibbly. I think Nibbly looks the best so far lol

The story is based off of an idea a friend in the @lady-loveluck 18+ discord server came up with (join the server if you haven't already)

Basically Webby gets pissed at the lords for being assholes and sends them to earth with Wiley to be humans and go to school as seniors with the NPMD cast. Each of the Lord's join clubs and make friends and Wilbur struggles to find a way back.

Tinky is holding a Rubix cube, he doesn't have his Bastard Box in this AU.

I realised I never shared this here, but this is my headcanon for the Joey Richter family tree.

There are a few things I need to explain, though:

> Owen's children: Curt having a bunch of children he doesn't know about is a headcanon Curt Mega (the actor) has shared before and I believe the same thing to be true for Owen. The Spankoffski mother is a special case, though: She was a child born from an affair Owen had during his time as DMA and he learned about her when her mother died a few years later. Since she didn't have anyone else, Owen took her in and raised her together with Curt.

> Ezekiel: Ezekiel used to be a human with the touch of the gift who was killed by Hatchetmen and planted in Witchwood Forest, binding his soul to a tree. When that tree was cut down for Perky's farm, his soul was released and instead went into the weed grown there. When the nighthawks ate the weed, they also absorbed the souls of those planted in that part of Witchwood, so the human souls, identities and memories got all mixed up with those of the birds.

> Joey Richter: The Joey Richter in this family tree is the Joey Richter from Me and my Dick. He grew up to become an actor who played Jangle in Santa Claus is going to High School and Bob Cratchit in a very popular prouction of A Christmas Carol. Ezra Richter is Joey's drama student from NPMD

Oh and one other thing about NPMD before I go to bed...

So you know how at the start of plays they do an announcement telling you the rules, where the emergency exits are, that kind of thing?

In the digital ticket, you catch the very ending of that speech, and you may have noticed that the speaker addresses the audience as if they're students at Hatchetfield High.

Well, that was an entire bit. Like, I think they started the announcement thanking you for coming to the Hatchetfield High Spring Musical (or something like that). (Later, when Grace started passing out anti-school-dance flyers to the audience off-screen, it lowkey felt part of the bit, too)

And when they're telling you the rules (turn off cell phones, etc.), they made sure to throw in a "That means you, Brooke", which garnered many laughs.

Just wanted to mention this bc later in the show, when the drama teacher also references Brooke, to the live audience that wasn't a standalone joke but actually a call back

Bear in mind, I haven’t really played Just Dance in years - we lost the disc while moving house, still have the case - so I just kinda looked up songs on YouTube or went off what I remember dancing along to.

Random headcanons

If they finish rehearsals early, Miss Mulberry lets them put on YouTube videos of the dances

Trev once did Rasputin and caught the attention of Pete and Grace, as they help out with the show and were around. Needless to say, dancing was quickly replaced with a history lesson/why the song is inaccurate and why women in history deserve to have their stories told

They now refuse to play until everyone who isn’t them has left the building, so there can be no interruptions

They, and by they I mean Caitlyn, wouldn’t let Ruth play if lives depended on it

Miss Mulberry also once made the mistake in saying it could be a competition and the winner could have a piece of candy from her prize box

There was so many fights that day…

All of them had at least one game of Just Dance growing up, except Caitlyn - she only ever played it at school or at friends’ houses

Josie had Just Dance 4; Kevin has all of the main series; and Trevor has 2014, 2017 and 2020

Kev is insanely competitive and a sore winner/loser, meanwhile everyone else is just playing to have fun and dance

He’s also a huge show off

Kev and Cait have a favourite kind of song and it’s anything that flatters their egos

They’re very, very confident in themselves and we love to see that #self love

Rudolph is god awful at dancing, so he doesn’t join in but will happily support Trevor from the sidelines

Brooke, however, is an exceptional dancer but has never really played/learned the dances for the games

She eggs on Kevin’s competitive ass for fun and chaos

Josie literally only knows a handful of non-musical songs. 9.8 times out of 10 she is going into these completely blind and expecting herself to pick up the melody, the choreography and the lyrics first try

Trev loses at least one shoe every time they play. There’s one stuck in the catwalk above the school auditorium, they haven’t been able to get it down so it’s still there

Cait thinks the guide is just a suggestion

Half of her additional or replacement choreography is just hair work

Josie thinks she needs to fully preform every time. She’ll sing along, give herself a character, maybe some dialogue if there’s an instrumental part of the song

Has definitely fainted upon burning up so much energy subsequently

It’s to the point now that the others can almost spot when she’s about to go. Kev picks her up so fucking gently and sits her down

The others happily perform with her

Kev almost exclusively does all the expert dances when playing solo

Josie’s siblings had Just Dance when she was younger, but she rarely got to play. Too busy having to care for them and the house. (And when she did, she never got a controller, so has no idea how good or bad she is). The songs on there are all really nostalgic and great tunes in general but can also be traumatic and tinged with bitterness

Trev only started doing Never Gonna Give You Up to rickroll the others but actually fell in love with the dance and is genuinely just wanting to play it all the time

In honour of the musical Beopardy on Smosh, I just want you all to know that if hypothetically Miss Mulberry did a musical quiz or kahoot or something like this, Josie would have immediately gotten every question right…

Save the Greatest Showman one because she hates it with a burning passion.

So she would have literally all the other points and whoever managed to buzz in first between Caitlyn, Kevin and Trevor would have gotten that 150.

okay so those drama club headcanons are EXCELLENT. But the ones where Ruth is mentioned definitely peaked my interest. If you don't mind, do you think you can talk about their opinions on Ruth and vice versa? Because from the sounds of it they all fucking hate her (except for maybe Josie, but you still mentioned that she's not always nice to her I think. Or I could've misinterpreted that idk)

It's just the fact that even the drama kids are bullies is sad yet funny. My personal headcanon is that they're all a very affectionate and tight-knit group, yet literally hate everybody else. It's so bad even Max has a hard time bullying them

A bit of context here, Josie is the only drama student who is taking both performance and creative parts of drama. Meaning that she has been part of the crew at times (e.g. creating props, costumes, sets, etc), usually playing double duty alongside whatever she's meant to be doing onstage. Subsequently, she has had to work (to at least some degree) alongside Ruth as lighting.

The others have that superiority of just being purely cast and want nothing to do with Ruth as a 'lowly' techie. (That is not to say they don't appreciate the crew though). This is partially why Josie is kinder to Ruth; she just has a little more respect and sympathy for the crew in general, having had to work both sides of the stage.

Josie is just nice. If you don't bother her or the rest of the drama kids, she really has no issue with you. In saying that, Ruth isn't one to just stand back and not say anything, subsequently has managed to say things to make Josie defensive. It's usually an insult to Caitlyn's acting.

As for their opinions on Ruth and vice versa:

Ruth canonically thinks little of Caitlyn, claiming she can act at least as well as she can (in a tone that implies it's not very well to begin with) - considering that it isn't a general statement and aimed at Cait specifically. This is something I imagine she has probably said on multiple occasions. Alongside similar snide remarks of Cait's bad acting.

Caitlyn and her don't get along at all and have never really attempted otherwise. It's been so long now, why would they? It's really tit for tat at this point. Cait's jealousy beliefs aren't entirely unfounded - Ruth is jealous, but nowhere near to that extent and not of them specifically. And they have all caught Ruth borrowing their scripts or props and having a go herself from time to time, leading to Caitlyn snapping back with critiques of her performance. And the belief Ruth is stealing.

Ruth just hates Kevin because he calls her Rachel. Think that one scene in Workin' Boys between Zoey and Ruth, but it's been going on for fucking years. She's sick and tired of it but he thinks it's funny as hell.

Kevin doesn't really mind Ruth that much. He thinks she's weird and he doesn't want much to do with her, sure, but he doesn't actively hate her like Caitlyn does. He just thinks he's so much better than her and treats her in a very condescending manner, but he's like this with a lot of people that he believes have no idea what they are doing in the theatre.

Ruth finds Trevor annoying because his mishaps make it difficult for her to follow along with the cue lines, but beyond that? She's fairly okay with him and would honestly pick him as a friend out of the four. Partially because Rudolph is kinda cool and a lot more accepting.

Trevor seems to think Ruth really likes them all and looks up to them as theatre inspiration. Which still comes off as fairly condescending Same superiority issue as Cait and Kevin, but more of a charming "aww, she wants to be like us when she grows up, that's so sweet" rather than "she's trying to be us, that's so pathetic" vibe. If that makes sense?

Again, Ruth has no real issue with Josie. She just finds Josephine to be too emotional and too attached to Caitlyn to consider her a friend over Trevor. Any of the issues between them are the result of Ruth saying something about Caitlyn (or one of the others), in spite of being well aware that Josie won't take it kindly.

Josie herself is usually the most civil with Ruth. She's sympathetic because of how she's treated by the bullies like Max and will even help when she thinks things have gone too far. Being over emotional makes her fairly empathetic. But... she values and loves her fellow drama kids deeply, especially Cait, more than anything and she won't tolerate unearned hate being thrown at them.

But you are 100% right. The drama kids are incredibly tight-knit and do hate everyone who isn't in their group. With the exception of Rose (as an honorary/ex-drama kid), Rudolph (Trevor's boyfriend) and Brooke (Trevor's best friend/general terror).

Max kinda just leaves them be. Four against one aren't good odds, especially when it's this four. If he has the rest of the football team with him, then maybe.

For example, if Steph were to wonder into the auditorium mid rehearsals - just needing a space to charge her phone or something completely neutral - you'd get the following reactions:

Kevin and Caitlyn would be pretty hostile and would definitely tell her (the Stephanie Lauter, mind you) to fuck off pretty quick after she came through the door

Trevor would throw her disgusted, passive aggressive looks but he wouldn't say anything - at least not to her face

Josie would just leave her to it. She's not happy about some popular kid being here (as they are known to hate theatre kids and Steph could easily tear them to pieces with just a few clicks on her phone) but she can tolerate it and get on with what she needs to

They play just dance after shows. Caitlyn is shit at it because she's an only child. In duo dances, Josie ends up as the male dancers a lot. Kev gets really into kpop extremes (let me have this, kpop extremes are fucking fun). Trev hits someone by accident a lot

YESSSSS

Kevin is the group dancer, so he really enjoys it but also gets insanely competitive about it. Like nobody is really playing Just Dance for the sake of beating people… except Kevin. “Haha, fuck you, Caitlyn, you stupid bitch, I got all five stars! And you didn’t!” / “What’s the matter, Trev? Can’t keep up with the professional? Maybe next time we’ll play on easy mode for you?” / “Josette, if you aren’t putting a reference to me beating you in Just Dance in your vows, we aren’t getting married.”

Caitlyn just does her own thing. She thinks the dancer is more of a suggestion than an instruction she’s suppose to be following. Sometimes this screws her over and she gets no points, sometimes she somehow ends up winning. There’s no in between.

Trevor usually ends up hitting Kevin or Caitlyn, whoever he’s beside. There’s been a few bloody noses for sure. Josie lucks out being shorter than him, she can duck and dodge slightly easier.

Josie’s favourite game. Has to bring some kind of acting or roleplay element to the table - like Angela as the wedding host in Smosh’s Just Dance Livestream, during “September”. She doesn’t realise she doesn’t need to sing along every time, so ends up burning more energy and tiring herself out real quick.

What are Mulberry's thoughts/opinions on each of the drama kids?

Great question, great question.

Miss Mulberry loves them all dearly and they are some of her lowkey favourite students. In her eyes, they can do no wrong and their peers believes that these four could get away with anything - while they are certainly favoured, I wouldn’t go that far with it (as seen in the Carrie fic, she’s not afraid to call them out).

She has no particular favourite or ranking of the four, loves them all equally.

Though there is a believed bias for Kevin and Caitlyn, as she does always cast them as the leads. She does, however, set higher expectations for Cait and Kev as the two leads and consider them to be the ones who will carry the show. She’s less likely to tolerate them mucking about in the wings and they will always receive the first of her critiques.

Josephine causes the least amount of “issues”. She rarely gets any critiques, her messing around backstage is not as disruptive as the others can be and she hasn’t been caught in a fight about who’s copying the pink character in some Just Dance YouTube video. But Miss Mulberry’s also aware a lot of this comes from Josie’s home life scarring her.

(She really dislikes meeting with Josie’s parents at parent-teacher conferences; they are so fucking uninvested in their eldest daughter).

Trevor is the baby of the group and it shows. As the youngest and least experienced of the trio. Has definitely called her “mom” on accident several times. This wasn’t completely relevant to the question, I just thought it had to be said.
