They could’ve died. They nearly did die. And after they just… left.

Pete went home. Presumably to Ted or his parents. Maybe he was scared. Maybe his older brother hugged him for the first time in years when he got home. Maybe he tried to hide his obviously broken arm. And obviously broken heart. Maybe he stared at his phone as he was being driven to the hospital. Maybe he stared at a group chat he’s now the only member of. Or maybe he sunk into his, probably, elderly parent’s house and went to bed.

Grace went home. Maybe she was guilty. Maybe she came down from the high of the moment and realized what she had done. What she lost. Maybe she walked into her house with dirty clothes, and dirty hair, and a dirty soul. Maybe she was hugged and fussed over by worried parents. Maybe she couldn’t bear to look them in the eyes as she went to shower. Maybe this time she didn’t bother with the bathing suit. Or maybe she didn’t care.

Steph went home. To an empty house. Steph went home knowing home wasn’t there. And maybe it hadn’t been for a while, but it still hurt. Maybe she slept. On the couch, in her room, in her dad’s even. Maybe she couldn’t sleep. Maybe she heard him scream in the witchwoods. Maybe she still could. Maybe she gripped on to that gun like it was her only life line. Maybe she cried. Maybe she just thought about taking the shot. Or Maybe she went to a friend’s.

Basically i just rewatched npmd for the millionth time and was having thoughts.

no but Starkid's version of eldritch gods is so funny bc yes they're divided into black and white categories based on whether or not they help humans but there's only one of the helpful ones and the others are a pretentious theatre kid, a toddler staring at you on the bus home from work, a kid who forces his sims to set themselves on fire, reloads the save file, then does it again, Hungy, and a corporation that's trying to keep up its family friendly image. also the only one that doesn't actively harm humans is an indie folk artist

I feel like they took note of how a lot of us were disappointed that we didn’t see Pete really mourn the loss of his friends at the end of NPMD and gave Ella a moment to do so during Trappings Of Starlight, and the line “Your love will be missed” being repeated throughout drives it home
