I'm a fiend for repetition and it's a dream to be backstage on my favorite musical completing my cool little prop tasks 24 more times. Two show day here we gooooooo

when I was first designing light for my animatic, I was thinking lots of light and shadow on the characters with pale fog between them and the camera:

But it was missing something...so I looked at photos taken in fog, and of dramatic animated lighting (ESPECIALLY in The Secret of Nimh) and what I found was...

The clouds overhead would be blocking most (if not all) of the light on the scene! And images with the characters fully in shadow made for a much more dynamic image. So I focused on silhouette, putting light shapes over dark backgrounds, and dark shapes over light backgrounds.

Taking the time to research realistic lighting, then exaggerating it for storytelling helped turn this into one of my favorite projects I've ever done! And I may work this dramatic lighting more and more into future art.

The Apotheosis is Upon Us!!! So grateful to be props master and run crew on one of my favorite shows of all time. Lots of amazing personal touches throughout this project from absolutely everyone at @teamstarkid and I couldn't have done my part without the talent and hard work of my amazing assistant props master @shreddinthemarart !
