33 / 1.8k / shark mermen Gaz and Soap for mermay :)
...
You emerge from the cold saltwater with a gasp and cling to the only thing you canâa metal buoy, just as freezing as the ocean.
Something brushes your leg. Again. Then you feel a jolt of pain.
A moment later, he surfacesâthe mer who cut you off from the boat and pursued you here. He looms closer, curious eyes fixed on you.
"Don't come any closer!" you tell him, half-strangled by seawater. You wish you sounded stronger. Your throat burns raw and your voice is choked. You press yourself up closer to the tower-shaped navigation buoy in a vain attempt to pull yourself away from him.
Gaz cocks his head to the side at the command, his black eyes flickering to your mouth in recognition. He treads the rough water effortlessly, lazily, the shape of his body under the water rolling.
He understands you perfectly. Then he moves closer anyway.
You sputter, fingers slipping as you scrabble for a better hold toâyou're not sure, pull yourself to safety? There's nowhere to go.
He looms over you. You turn your face away and press into the buoy as tightly as you can. He rests his hand against the metal near your head, claws digging into the rust. His eyes rake over your body. Youâre cold. Wet. Scared. Gaz canât keep his eyes from moving all over you. From your wild, dripping wet hair down to where you disappear into the sea, thin human skin flat against curved metal. All the soft, exposed flesh in between.
Tentativelyâwhen he doesnât grab youâyou steal a glance at him. His broad shoulders are bare, skin dark and smooth. Scars mark the sculpted muscles of his chest and forearms. Saltwater in the open cuts on your arm force your attention back to the situation at hand. He spots the bloody rivulets running down your forearm at the same time you do. Itâs not just a series of cutsâitâs a bite mark. He bit you.
Then something big brushes your leg. You jolt, kicking, your shin banging hard against the base of your safe buoy. You nearly jump out of your skin when a second mer surfaces right behind you.
Gaz follows your stare back to the second mer. Itâs Soap.
Soap grins, razor-sharp teeth flashing in the dim light. His dark hair is drenched, swept back from his face and away from his eerie all-blue eyes. When you donât react immediately, freezing up instead, his hands crawl up your waist. You shriek. Soap laughs at your reaction. He tightens his hands on your waist and pulls you so easily from the buoy into the cage of his arms.
You struggle to keep yourself aloft without anything to hold on to. Soap seems blasĂ© about keeping you high enough above the surface to breathe. He's more interested in your peculiar human featuresâyour gilless ears, your flat teeth, the soft skin that extends well past your waist and hips. Even Gaz moves closer, enthralled with the sight of you wrapped up in Soapâs arms, your comparatively tiny human hands gripping and splashing around in a way theyâd consider rather cute. Like a kitten curling its paws around a toy rather than someone fighting just to stay afloat.
Your lungs still burn with salt and your sparse clothes cling to you as you twist in the waves. Desperate to escape, you shove your left hand against Gaz's chest and your right elbow against Soap's, trying to make room for yourself between them and lift yourself away from Soap's curious, clawed hands. But there isn't much you can do.
Gaz stares down at your hand lingering on his chest. You have such short, blunt, thin claws. How are humans supposed to protect themselves with those? He looks up to see Soap attempting to wrestle your squirming, slippery little human body more securely into his arms.
"I had her," Gaz says in their mer language.
You can't understand it. To you, it sounds strange and half-muted, but you can feel the depth of the vocalizations in Gaz's chest and snatch your hand away as if burned.
âAnd now I have her,â Soap says.
"You shouldn't have grabbed her. Sheâs riled up now."
âYou just want to be the only one to see her up close. You can share." Not to mention he knows how Gaz can be. If Gaz were to get his hands on you first, Soap would be lucky to see a damn thing, much less touch you. Soap, on the other hand, knows how to share. âHave a look at the skin. Like an eelâs, but with little hairs.â
Gaz glares at him but obliges, dipping under the waves as he moves closer. He canât resist the temptation of that soft flesh, so different from his own. Especially when Soapâs already got his hands on you and is feeling you up as much as he likes.
He circles you slowly as his eyes adjust to see you better in the low light. The rest of you is just as interesting as what's above water, if not more. You've got knees. Feet, even. He skims a claw from your ankle to your thigh. You kick in response, and Soap's long tail twists in the water to keep hold of you. Your feet, your legsâtheyâre so tiny. All flesh, no fins at all. Even when you kick, they just slide through the water so uselessly.
Above the water, you cry out at the sudden feeling. Cold dread settles into your gut as you recognize these two for what they areânot just mer, but sharks. Their size and sharp teeth give them away. Not to mention their skin. It looks like human skin, but it's smooth when rubbed in one direction and sandpaper-rough in the other. Exactly like the skin of the creatures they mimic.
You push blindly against Soap's chest, ignoring the bite of his claws as he holds on to you. You're certain they're about to pull you underwater and drown you. Maybe eat you. You've already been bitten.
Then, over the roar of blood in your ears, you hear the distant sound of a boat's bell. You swivel your head to see a small rescue boat. Someone must have noticed you were snatched overboard. Instantly, energy pulses into your limbs again. You push yourself up as far as you can, nails digging into Soap's shoulder, and you wave your arms and shout for all youâre worth to get the rescue boat's attention.
Soap whips his head around to follow the sound of the boat. He knows exactly what it is, and he doesn't like it one bit. The more he tries to hold you still, though, the louder and shriller your cries get. There's no chance the boat will miss you like this. Humans have really good eyesight even without their little lights. He could just let you go. He wanted to see you up close, and he did. But with Gaz circling below the water, and with every little touch reinforcing his curiosity about you, and with the smell of your blood filling his senses, he decides he and Gaz haven't had nearly enough time to study you.
With a beat of his tail, Soap pushes away from you.
You sink instantly, gasping in a mouthful of saltwater as you struggle to right yourself. You break the surface of the water one more time, but all that comes out when you try to call for help again is a watery choke.
A clawed hand wraps around your ankle and pulls you down. Your head submerges. Everything goes muffled besides the sharp stinging in your nose, eyes, and the bite on your arm. Soap's grip is like steel, pulling you down, down, down until the surface is just a glittering ripple far away. Your wild thrashing just tires you out, which makes keeping you under easier. He can only imagine the kind of panic thatâs taking hold. Humans are notoriously poor swimmers.
Your vision spots as you struggle. Soap knows exactly what he's doing. His blood sings in his veins, the thrill of the hunt overriding everything. The moment is perfect: you under his control even as you fight like good prey.
The pressure of the water grows immense. It presses in on your eardrums and your chest cavity. You fight against the urge to breathe, but you are well and truly running out of oxygen.
Soap feels your struggling grow weaker. There's no way you're getting away now. Youâre all his.
Suspended in the water above you both, Gaz understands exactly what Soap's instincts are telling him to do. His are saying the same thing: to strike while you're vulnerable, disoriented, desperate.
Instead, he dives to Soap and stops him.
"What are you doing?" he snaps. "Humans can't survive in the water."
Soap blinks like heâs turning his brain back on. "Aye. Am only hiding her."
"For how long?"
"Til the boat leaves. Morning, maybe."
Gaz grits his teeth. Before Soap can protest, Gaz darts up and grabs you with a burst of speed, ripping you right out of Soapâs grasp. The way he hooks you into the inside of his elbow knocks the last of the air out of you.
Your head spins. Your body is wracked by a dry, painful cough, and your mouth opens as your body instinctively tries to find air. Water fills your lungs. Gaz feels you convulse. He clamps his hand around your mouth. But it doesn't do you any good.
He propels you both up toward the surface. But instead of breaking through, he swims parallel, leaving the rescue boat behind.
Youâre clinging to the final frayed threads of consciousness when you finally break the surface of the water. Your back hits sand. The impact forces your diaphragm to push a mouthful of water loose. That gets you coughing again. You flip over and cough what feels like an unsurvivable volume of seawater out of your lungs.
You cough until every muscle in your stomach hurts. You keep coughing as you get to your hands and knees and drag yourself up the rocky beach. Gravel cuts and burrows into your hands and knees. You don't have the capacity to notice anything besides the air you're desperately swallowing.
As soon as you're not completely convinced you'll die here, you collapse onto your side, curling into a fetal position. You don't notice the two lambent pairs of eyes watching you from the shallows.

Yandere! Sea Monster x Reader
In the spirit of Mermay, I come to you with a slightly different approach: an octopus hybrid, dwelling in the dark depths of ancient waters. :) Hopefully close enough to the sea monster you imagined, @wally0117
Content: gender neutral reader, male yandere, monster romance, reader likes sharks (a lot); inspired by The Shape of Water and My Octopus Teacher; photo from Whalebone Magazine
Heâs always been aware of humans, naturally. Observed them from the beginnings of time, from the very first rudimentary attempt of a boat that crossed his waters. Though he can only guess how these creatures exist, how they breathe, how they move. What arrives in his depths is always a corpse of some sort. Bloated, decaying carcasses, rarely intact, whether chipped by fish or by time. Everything else is left to his imagination.
Until today. The fish are restless, the currents are stronger. Something must be happening above, stringing him along curiously. His many legs sway in tandem, opening and closing, as he investigates the source of interest. His pale white eyes narrow to a mere squint, unused to the light of the surface levels. At last, he finds it: a human.
Yet this one is unusual. Intact - save for the bleeding wound - and unlike the washed-out, cadaveric blue tint heâs normally accustomed to. He notices a twitch of the limb and it dawns on him: this one is still alive.
You wake up with a violent cough, thrusting out the leftover liquid that had invaded your lungs earlier. You clearly remember drowning, so how did you end up on shore again? The answer reveals itself rather quickly: a monstrous creature, albeit humanoid for the most part. The upper half resembles a man, but the torso ends in thick, enormous tentacles, now flopped onto the sand, surrounding your body. You search for the creatureâs face, framed by translucent tendrils that seem to replace what youâd expect as hair.
âThank youâ. He scans your features and remains silent. Does he even understand human speech? After a moment of consideration, he looks ahead, surveying the water, then returns to you, giving you a nudge. He most likely wants to know how you ended up in that situation to begin with. âThatâs, wellâŠâ
Conveniently enough, the monster has brought you back to your little camp, so you reach for your backpack and pull out a book. Of course, no words can ever replace the image itself. With renewed enthusiasm, you open your encyclopedia and turn it towards the man, showing him a photo of a sand tiger shark, tapping on it excitedly. âI was looking for sharks!â
Ever since the bizarre, life-saving encounter, youâve been returning to the same spot most days. And without exception, the monster will be waiting for you in one of the neighboring caves. Judging by the pellucid, pale skin and his reluctance to be in the light, you guessed early on that he might be a creature of the depths.
One that has been around for a long time, it seems. Once he understood your interest in sharks and other aquatic animals, he developed a liking to play guide for you, silently touring you through forests of kelp, hidden caves, labyrinths of reefs and hills. He knows where the animals linger, and they don't scurry away when you approach. You've never dreamed of being so close to them, staring into their eyes and tracing their fins as they swim past you, unbothered and relaxed. The monster will gaze at you from a distance, amused by your passion.
On ground, youâve begun your own little experiment: can the octopus creature learn sign language? You didnât need long to discover how intelligent he is, mimicking your gestures with flawless ease, instantly memorizing the meanings, the connections, the implications. He seems to be terribly delighted by this newfound tool of communication, often asking you questions with earnest curiosity.
Ah, yes, the questions. It makes sense that heâd want to know more about humans, though his interrogations are ratherâŠparticular. Specific. Itâs less about humans as a whole, and more about you. How long have you been swimming here? How deep can you actually swim, with or without aid? Might you have a family waiting for you back home? A mate, perchance? No? Interesting.
"My vacation will end soon", you sign with pursed lips. He tilts his head. "Leaving?" his webbed hands gesture, somewhat uneasy. You nod. You can discern a glint of melancholy in his eyes. Eventually, he resumes: "Would you like to see my home?" Your eyebrows raise in surprise. His home? Down there? Was such a thing even achievable for a human like you?
The plump suckers attach themselves to your skin, one resting over your mouth. "Do you trust me?" You cast one final glance over the underwater abyss, a black hole trapping all light and matter. You shake your head in approval. Without hesitation, he plunges over the cliff, pulling you after him and into the yawning void of darkness. His form glows eerily, and his movement is swift and elegant. You can tell this is his land, his territory. You would've been dead a long time ago.
He releases you on the wet stone, inside the air pocket of a cave. You need a few moments to overcome the wave of claustrophobia pressing against your lungs. As you catch your breath, you recall your long path from the surface. It would be impossible to make it back out again without your friend. A cold shiver runs across your spine. "Have a break, and I'll show you everything else afterwards", he gestures with a smile. "How long will it take? I don't want to walk back at night", you explain.
Silence. You stare into his empty orbs, awaiting a reaction. There's not a sound, not a gust of wind, not a shred of light. "You're not going back", he finally answers.
You see, he's done a fair amount of research himself. He doesn't need an encyclopedia to figure you out: how you breathe, how you move, how you exist. In fact, he is rather confident in his ways of helping you adapt to a life spent together. He would've never brought you down here if he wasn't certain of your survival. His grin widens in anticipation, a strange warmth enveloping his innards at the mere thought of it: a future with you in it, right here. However, one question remains, a cheeky, perverted detail that has been on his mind from the moment he met you, yet he could never investigate it properly.
How do humans mate?

Fishy Business (Mermay'24)
Mermaid!Soap x Reader
4k words - masterlist
Cw: injuries, smut, oral sex, unprotected p in v, monsterfucking(?, let me know if I missed any đ
Johnny has been living in the tank for two weeks now.
Discovering mermaids were real, shock the world, but in all honesty, only for a couple of days before the evil human mind started to think of ways to profit out of them.
Luckily, mermaids were not stupid and knew perfectly fine that they needed to stay away from the human reach; almost able to smell the putrid aroma of ill intentions pouring out of them.
But no matter how good they hide, humans still find the way to, even if not on purpose, to damage the ecosystem. And when you get the call that a mermaid got his tail tangled on the propeller of a boat and needed urgent care, you weren't really surprised.
You sent your instructions, so the poor thing could get the needed treatment while you made your way to Pentland Firth.
It only took you a couple of days to reach John Price's aquarium. Gruff, big guy that offered the empty tank at his fish sanctuary to keep the merman until it got released.
A solid handshake was his welcoming greeting when he opened the door and he let you into his house. âIt's nice to finally meet you, Doctor. Youâre making quite a name for yourself lately.â He said, a kind smile on his face making his beard move with it and wearing a funny looking hat more fitting of a sailor on his head.
âWell, not so hard to do so when there is so little competition in mermaid care.â You answered, not completely lying. Little was known about the mermaids, and almost every paper that got published was the first of its kind. Your name just happened to appear on most of them.
âThen I can assume you know your way around them? Sneaky little shits, with kind eyes and sharp teeth.â He said, a chuckle leaving his mouth as if he just remembered something.
âTo be completely honest, you have probably seen more than me.â You admit, as you walk next to him, trying to keep up with his pace. âI hear they are quite a number up North, they must like the cold.â
âThey like the lack of people.â He almost interrupts you with a low unhumorous chuckle. âThis one swam a wee bit to the south⊠and look what happened.â
You see him shake his head, as if he felt guilty himself of the creature getting hurt. âAnyway, ready to meet him?â He asks, the kind smile back on his face as he takes a corner. He opens the only glass door on the hall, and with a hand on the small of your back, he lets you into the platform sitting over the water surface inside of the tank.
The metal platform rustles with the weight of the man walking alongside, only stopping when he walks up to the man standing at the end of the gangway. Standing just a couple of feet away from them you are able to comprehend their size, massive men, broad, strong, muscular, tall men. They definitely don't look like the classical marine biologist who would own a fish sanctuary.
But then the water splashes, making you look to where the surface of the water is rippling, but without any sign of what causes it.
âSimon, let me introduce you to the doctor. Doctor, Simon here has been the person in charge of following your instructions.â He slaps Simon's back hard, it reverberates against the tank walls but the blonde looks like he didn't even feel it. He is wearing a surgical mask and the rest of his body is covered by a wetsuit. A little contradictory thing.
âNice to meet you, Simon. How has it been?â You ask, smiling as you look up at him.
âLike givinâ a stray cat a bath.â He mumbles, shaking your hand with a strength that has you trying your best not to shake with it.
âAnd him? How is it?â You ask, trying your best to be professional and not act like a kid in a candy shop. But the truth is, this is the first time you are going to interact directly with a merman.
âHm⊠Like a stray cat that got splashed with cold water.â He says, shrugging his shoulders.
âYou are good with metaphorsâŠâ You mumble, hearing Price snickers behind you. âSo⊠not really happy with the treatment, then?â
Simon shakes his head, looking back into the water. âNah, the sashimi shit doesn't want anyone to touch him, and his tail is looking more and more grey as days go by.â
You hum, nodding as you turn to also look into the water. âI'll work on some antibiotics to pour into the water⊠it won't be as effective, but it'll be a start.â
Price turns as well, all eyes on the water looking for the creature that seems to have disappeared into the water. Camouflage abilities are not to be dismissed taking in consideration how little is known about them, but if Simon was just dealing with him, they should be able to see it.
You look into the deep end, the hairs of your nape rising when you feel eyes on you. But the water in front of your eyes is empty, not a droplet moving out of his place and the only thing you can hear is both men breathing next to you.
âHow does he look? Maybe if I have a mental image I can-â
You don't get to finish your sentence, at least not before you feel a wet hand wrap around your ankle and pull it. Hard.
It doesn't give you time to use your hands to stop the fall before your chin knocks the metal of the ground, the skin bursting at the hard hit. A single drop of blood mixes with the water underneath before two pairs of hands grab your arms keeping you from going under the water.
At the pull of your body, you feel sharp claws rupture the surface of your skin where they are holding you, only stopping when Simon stomps his foot right beside yours, threatening to step on him next.
âEnough, Johnny!â He snarls at the creature, standing between you and him, while you cling to Price's legs. If you end up underwater, you are not going alone.
It is hard for you to focus your sight on anything, panic and pain mixing in your system. Only being able to see the creature when you hear him hiss at Simon. The stray cat comparison of Simon being really appropriate now.
The merman captivates you, looking perfectly human, still knowing that no human would stand so high over the surface in open water like him, your brain forcing you to remember the fish-like tail under the water.
You can't bring yourself to pull your eyes from him, both your hunger for knowledge from finally being so close to a real breathing merman and both for the fine specimen of a man staring you up and down like you will be his next dinner.
It's Price the one that pulls you away, helping you on your feet and keeping his arm around your waist to help you walk without resting weight on your foot as he walks you out of the tank. Behind you, and without you noticing, Simon and Johnny share a knowing look, only broken when Johnny gives him a short nod before sinking back in the water, the taste of your blood still floating on it..
It's already night time when you hear the noises, like a piece of furniture falling against the floor. And against your better judgement, you walk, well, limp out of the room you were laying down in.
Turns out Simon and Price are not the only ones living in the sanctuary, and there is a third man called Kyle who was the one that bandaged up your foot and chin.
The ground trembles under your feet as you walk closer, each step you take letting you know with more certainty that the sound is coming from Johnny's tank. You see it before he sees you, standing in the shadows behind the glass door as the merman swims in circles.
Gaining inertia before slamming his body against the wall of the tank making it shake. You see his nostrils flare with his troubled breathing, the grills on his neck moving just as fast. It's such a worrying behaviour that your doctor brain makes you act on it before you can realise how stupid of a decision it is.
You turn the knob opening the door, barely managing to get a foot in before a deep voice startles you. âWhat thâ fuck did ye pour intae thâ water?! I'm fucking drowning!â
It takes you a second to realise it is the merman talking to you, muscular chest rising with each hard breath as his arms, big enough to crush a skull, hold his body over the water surface.
It also takes you a second to realise that what he means is the medicine in the water, the pungent taste of the chemicals probably making him struggle to breath as normal as before.
âIt's the antibiotics.â You answer, almost mumbling. The lights from the tank making the water reflect into the walls in a beautiful imaginary that almost works to trick your brain into ignoring the danger. âFor your tail.â
âMy tail is perfectly fine! I dinnae need yer bullshit! I need tae go back!â He shouts back, slamming his fist on the metal like a petulant child.
âIt is infected! If it enters your blood system you could die!â You shout back, setting both feet a step further into the tank.
âLies! Human inventions! I'm perfectly fine!â The water splashes around his body when he waves his tail to push himself further out of the water.
âIf you were fine you wouldn't stink of rotten fish!â Another step closer to him.
âI dinnae stink! That's just how I smell!â He sits on the gangway, pushing his body out of the water to do so, the massive tail that forms his lower body making the metal creak under his weight.
The sheer size of it doesn't stunt you, it being just proportional to the width of his upper body. But the scales that cover it, dazzling with the light of the reflections and looking like its own miniature sea. Speckles of blue, green and silver dancing around making it hard to look away from it, and making it impossible to miss the pink colour of the exposed meat. Not grey anymore.
âIt is already looking betterâŠâ You explain, pointing to his wound as you keep walking closer. âYou cannot tell me that it doesn't hurt less.â
He follows the direction you point at, quickly moving back so it is under the water; away from your gaze and making you frown at how little time you had to stare.
âThat's just because time went byâŠâ He says, almost mumbling and averting your gaze. âI need to go back.â
âWhy?â You ask, the volume of your voice also lowering as you bend down to sit, crossed legged but with the injured one still sticking out. âSomebody waiting for you?â
âYes!â He raises his voices once again, exasperated with your ignorance of his issues. âEveryone is fooling around, and next year when they all havd their wee bairns I'll be alone and I dinnae wantae! 'n' I cannae dae nothing about it cause a'm stuck here!â!â
His words slowly clicks into place, his eagerness to leave, the specially shiny scales, wandering outside of his territory. âIt's mating season⊠mermaids have mating season?â
This is not the time to be asking these questions, you are here to help the merman heal not to study him like an aquarium specimen. But you can't help yourself to ask, only second guessing yourself when the merman looks at you like you just grew a second head. âObviously⊠humans dinnae?â
You stare at him, thinking it thoroughly before answering. âNot⊠really, no.â
âAnd when do humans mate?â
â...anytimeâ
The disgust appears on his face as if you had just insulted him and everyone he has ever loved.
âYe spend thâ whole year shagging, and then have the balls to call us beasts⊠hypocrites.â
âIt's not like that!â You exclaim, suddenly afraid of disappointing the beautiful merman. There is a split second in with you remember every singles fable that talk about dangerous mermaids are, how they lure people in with pretty songs and prettier faces only to get eaten alive, how they trick sailor man to crash their boats in the rocks and then they have a feast on the corpses.
The alarm bell is loud and clear in your head, but just as easily it gets silenced when his wet warm hand lands on your injured foot, right under the bandages. He looks confused at it, eyebrows furrowed and slight pout on his lips.
You shouldn't let him grab you, last time he didn't drown you because Simon and Price picked you up. But you are alone now, and instead of pulling your foot back, you lean in, closer to the creature, and peel the bandages up, showing him the wound.
âI did this?â He asks, his fingertip grazing the skin surrounding the wound. You nod at him, your eyes glued to his face not wanting to lose a single expression of him. He furrows his eyebrows again, his hand moving to rest on the underside of your calf. âHumans are weak⊠I barely touched ye.â
âWe are not weak⊠You just have sharp nailsâŠâ The sound of your voice makes him pull his gaze up, catching how you scratch the skin close to the wound of your chin, the sting from the stitches making you itch.
He pulls your leg again, softer this time, and it should worry you more with how much ease he is able to move you, with a grasp of your foot he easily slides you closer, leaving your feet hanging over the water.
He lays his hand flat beside your leg, propping himself up out of the water. With his arm completely stretched he towers over you, making you pull your head back so you can see his face. He looks down at you, cocking his head.
His other hand finds his way to your jaw, pulling your head even further back so he can see the wound on your chin. You can't see him with the new angle of your neck, but you can feel him get closer to your throat.
The feeling of his breath on the skin of your neck makes every hair on your body stand on end. The alarm bells ring in your head again, this man, as handsome as he is, is still an apex predator in the water that would be able to dismember you in seconds if he wanted to.
Still, and with that knowledge in mind, you have to bite your tongue to keep any tell-tale sounds from escaping you when you feel his face so close to yours.
"I dinnae do this one.... Are ye going to stick to yer theory that ye'r not weak? Or are ye just soft?" his deep voice murmurs, causing a shiver to travel down your spine.
His hand that was on your jaw moves down, resting on your thigh for a second before squeezing the soft flesh. Moving up slowly, dragging it over your skin to your hip, his thumb anchoring itself in the crease of skin between your thigh and your belly. Squeezing the flesh once more making you jump.
As his hand continues to move up, squeezing and whispering against your neck. "Soft... Soft from head to toe.... See? Soft, soft, soft..."
With each repetition of the word, he grabs a different part of your body. Your thigh, your hip, your tummy, your waist and it is when he reaches your chest, his hand wrapping around the soft flesh of your breast that he finally gets a sound to fall from your lips in the form of a faint moan of his name.
"What is it, my soft girl? I can feel yer pulse rising..... It's not fear, innit? Or something⊠else?" The whine that escapes your lips echoes against the walls of the tank, encouraging the merman in his movements.
The merman presses his wide body between your legs, forcing you to spread them apart to accommodate his width. And before you are able to form a full thought, about everything that is wrong with your actions; how morally wrong, how dangerous, what this could mean for your career... you feel the man's wide tongue travel from your collarbone to behind your ear, scorching your skin with the heat of his body.
Your hands grip his shoulders on impulse, feeling the strength leave your body as you feel him roll his hips against yours.
His assault on your neck continues, nibbling and licking until you instinctively wrap your legs around his hips. By the time you realise you are lying on the platform, opening your eyes to see the massive merman on top of your body with lust in his blue eyes.
You look down to where his hips are pressed against yours when you feel an unfamiliar weight over your pubic bone. Once again, a day's worth of interactions with this specimen is proving more productive than previous years of study, for the great unknown of how mermaids reproduce has just been revealed to you as you see the merman's member lying on your body.
And you are only aware of what kind of expression you have to have on your face when he speaks to you. "What's the matter, ye humans donnae have this either?"
"No, no, they have it, like... some do, but not so... like this.â
Once again, a deep chuckle drips from his chest making you look up to him as he looks down on where your pyjama shorts stick to your clothes when they get wet from the water dripping from his body. His fingertips bury themselves under the hem of your pants, trying to pull them down but grunting when he can't because his body is in the way.
He leans back, sinking back into the water and finally pulling your pants and underwear off, leaving you bare and exposed to him from waist down. You try to think of a reason as to why you seem so unbothered by his advances, it must be some kind of mermaid powers. The guy that took you on a date and asked to go to your home later? No. The guy you met online that asked to meet? iugh. But the merman on the tank that could ruin your career? Yeah, he's alright.
But mermaid powers or not, the way you feel his tongue lap at your soaked folds is very real and so is the whiny moan that falls from your lips. You feel him bury his face even deeper into your cunt, slurping the juices and moaning at the taste of them making you curl your toes. His hands move under your thighs, locking you in place so he can peacefully devour you.
Even though the man has no intentions of pulling back, you still grab the hair at the top of his head urging him closer which he happily complies making you moan softly. One of his hands moves closer to your cunt, dragging his claw over your skin making you shudder at the feeling.
You worry for a second that the merman will scratch you just like he did on your ankle, but instead he uses two fingers to spread your folds leaving you as exposed as he can before shoving his tongue into your entrance making you arch your back. The muscle dragging along the ribbed walls of your cunt, flooding his mouth with the taste of you.
A shameless whine escapes your lips when you feel him pull his face back, your grip on his head lacking all force. He coos at you, shushing your cries as he turns you on your stomach, keeping one of your knees bent as he slots himself behind you.
He props himself on an arm, keeping his chest flush against yours as his other arm hugs you pulling you impossibly closer to him as he rolls his hips to slide his already hardening dick between your folds, making you buck your hips to meet his movements. The heat of his wet body making you ache for more, to feel him closer, deeper.
You lower your hand, placing it between your legs and keeping his cock from moving forwards, making it sink into your welcoming walls. A harmony of moans filling the tank when he slowly sinks into you, the weight of his shaft inside of you feeling comforting in the cold of the tank.
The merman buries his face on the crook of your neck, biting softly your skin, just enough to feel you between his teeth as he moves his hips back, moaning at the feeling of your tight warm cunt sucking him back in.
He moans in tandem with you, a song of your voices accompanying the dance of your bodies. Everytime Johnny's hips move forwards, yours move back, the sound of skin slapping growing louder as his movements get faster.
Every snaps of his hips threaten to pull the air out of your lungs, leaving you unable to do anything else but moan at the feeling of his length hitting so deliciously deep while stretching your gummy walls to accommodate his girth.
âA'm gonnae tak' ye wiâ me once I'm out⊠would ye lik' that, bonnie lassie? Keep ye close, fucked ânâ dined, nae a single worry inside of that bonny head of yers but to take my big fucking cock as good as yer right nowâŠâ Every filthy word that leaves his lips, falling like melted honey into your ears making you clench around him, is accentuated with a snap of his hips making you bounce on his arms.
His arm that was hugging you moves lower, fingertips travelling down between your legs and rubbing tight circles over your clit making you whine as you close your eyes. You can hear his tail splash in the water with his movements, and you can tell when his thrust starts to become sloppier, almost losing the rhythm, but keeping it long enough for you to combust around his shaft.
He groans on your shoulder when your walls clench around his length like a vice, milking him for what he's worth, making hims moan against your skin as he keep moving his hips, slowly, letting the two of you ride out your orgasm as you try to get air back into your lungs.
Under the tank, on the underground level of the sanctuary and hidden in the shadows, three pairs of eyes see how Johnny kisses your shoulder softly.
âYou know⊠I was feeling bad about dragging the poor girl into this mess, but⊠I don't think she minds it too much.â Gaz says, eyes glue to the two of you.
The thing is, that just like sailors knew that the earth was round long before anyone else; they also knew mermaids were real long before the rest of the world. But being able to communicate with one of the sea apex predators has its benefits, and negotiating with them usually translates to an improvement on the business.
And if the merman they accidentally run over with their boat says he wants a cute little partner to repopulate the north sea in exchange of pushing the fishes towards their fishing nets⊠they will get him a girlfriend to keep him happy.
After all, since humans always find a way to benefit from mermaids, it's only fair that mermaids benefit from humans too.
I hope you guys still wanted some mermaids, I don't know how it took me so long đ©·

a/n: here it is - the nice final surprise for our mermay mini series, this is for all of us who would kiss fuck the handsome merman lol! Thank you to @pr0ximamidnight for letting me scream about this & to @the-wild-wolves-around-you for always being the best support - and to you, if youâre reading this, thank you so much âĄ
The sun hangs low against the sky, painting the world in a soft orange creamsicle shade. Sliding your shoes off, you sink into the soft sand and walk the shoreline.
You love your aunt and uncle dearly. But having such a large get together at their house to meet the neighbors and their friends just got too much. Itâs why you politely excused yourself and ended up here.
The crash of the waves, the peaceful quiet of the thankfully vacant beach, it all settles you while you walk aimlessly getting lost in your thoughts.
Until a sharp deep growl pierces the air.
The noise sounds close, electrifies your skin, and makes you stop. Thatâs when you notice trickles of blood in the water.
Petrified your eyes follow the trails.
Then you come across a sight you canât believe.
By the long stretch of rocks leading out from the shore into the sea, a man sits half up on the rocks.
Older, distinguished in the wrinkles around his face and beautiful grays in his curled hair, his skin however seems drained of color. Thereâs also a huge gash against his side as if he was impaled.
Even though heâs partially out of the water, you notice, the skin at his hips donât lead to legs. Your eyes go wide.
Another snarl of a growl comes and you realize itâs this man. His face fiercely stares you down in menacing terror.
âYouâre hurt!â You blurt out.
âGet the fuck outta here!â He howls, even has an accent of someone from this area.
âYouâre bleeding out too fast!â You donât even know medical conditions that well to know this isnât good.
On your walk here you noticed a few beach towels left vacant on the shore.
You immediately turn around and bolt.
The man screams out a curse, yelling at you to stop, but you donât. Thankfully you donât have to search too far down the beach to spot one of the forgotten towels. Quickly grabbing it you then rush back.
The strange man is still on the rocks, but itâs obvious he tried sliding down them in an escape. However it opened his wound up more.
âWait!â Now you cry out. âI know this isnât much but this can stop the bleeding for now!â
You offer weakly that you could maybe try to get medical attention, but even weary his eyes go wide, and he snaps out a fast sharp no.
âThen you need to wrap this around the wound or press into it.â You offer the towel.
âYâdonât think I know how to handle this, ya dumb human?â He snarls.
Human. So he isnât human like you suspected.
âYour wound is getting worse.â You urge now, promising you wonât get others but have supplies that can help.
âDo what ya fuckinâ want.â He snarls.
Gingerly, you place the towel down on a rock then scramble out of the water and head back to your familyâs beach home. Thankfully everyone has moved upstairs, allowing you to sneak in, grab a first aid kit, then leave.
You just hope the man hasnât left or gotten worse.
The sky grows dimmer. The sun almost vanishes beyond the horizon. And thankfully, the man is still on the rocks.
Yet his eyes flutter in and out of consciousness.
Keeping the first aid kit as dry as you can above the waves, you rush into the water towards him.
Heâs barely awake, might not even fully notice youâre beside him now. But quickly you unpack things fast on the nearby rocks and tend to the wound as best as you can. The man hisses a half growl at the padding you place to stop the bleeding. Then you use an embracing amount of large bandages over the wound.
The bleeding doesnât seep through the wraps and itâs enough for now. Youâre afraid of leaving him here, but youâre more worried about moving him. So taking the towel you grabbed, you delicately drape it over his body, keeping his face open.
He seems human enough from his upper body. This mystery man is also handsome, scarily so. But the sky is getting dark, and you need to get home. Gathering your things you return to the beach house.
âHey, whereâd ya go?! And whatâs with the first aid kit?â Your mom says a bit surprised.
You explain with a half lie that you went walking on the beach and helped a guy who got cut.
âWell look at you! What a hero.â She grins warm and her words feel soft.
That night you barely get any sleep and think of the man on the rocks. Earlier, when you were panicking trying to tend to his wound, you didnât have time to fully look into the ocean at his lower body. But you caught a glimpse.
You saw a partial marine like body, a sea creature like tail even among the cloud ocean water.
A merman, you had possibly helped a merman.
Now you just hope he makes it through the night.
Scrambling awake the next morning, you make an excuse of wanting to enjoy the beach bright and early, and head to the rocks.
Of course heâs gone.
You almost knew he wouldnât be here. A piece of you did hope, faintly hoped, he would be. Even the towel is gone.
Out in the ocean a loud splash, like someone slapping against the water, arrives.
There floating in the waves, only seen from the chest up, is the mystery man. Heâs okay. Heâs here. Heâs alive.
âYouâre alright.â You exhale relieved.
This man glares at you fiercely. It highlights his weathered wrinkles but also intensifies his handsome features. Thereâs an intimidating and hardened nature radiating off this gorgeous creature.
âWhy did ya save me?â He flat out asks, and youâre stunned.
Thatâs what he came here to ask you about?
Your face even scrunches up slightly confused, but you tell him the truth.
He was hurt. You had to try and do something.
The answer does soften his features. If anything his eyebrows furrow harder.
âYâfuckinâ tell anyone about me?â
For possibly being a mythical being, this man does speak very human. You shake your head no, promising you didnât and wonât ever tell anyone.
He scoffs, distrusting.
With sharp narrowed eyes, he gives you one final look before slipping back into the water.
You sit on the shoreline for what feels like hours, but he doesnât return.
A bit dejected and quiet, you head home.
Later, trying to get your mind off everything, you decide to enjoy the time youâre here and head into the water.
The wind provides a nice breeze, and the sea swirls around you. Slowly you trek deeper into the ocean letting the water rise. Eventually you comfortably float and glance back towards the shoreline. Your mom lounges in her lawn chair with the recent book she just bought. The sky, beautifully soft this morning, now seems dimmer with all the clouds moving in.
A wave crashes over you from behind.
Powerful and large it drags you under. You were so focused on watching the beach you didnât even see it coming.
Now youâre under the water, caught beneath the sea.
The saltwater stings your eyes as you try swimming against the current. But youâre a bit disoriented and even trying to just float back to the surface seems harder.
Suddenly warm solid hands are on your hips pulling you up. Youâre guided up to the surface. Sweet air fills you and you cough through the stinging in your lungs. Youâre kept above the water, held up.
You whip around trying to see who helped you, but thereâs no one around.
Someone screams your name frantically. Your mom and your aunt on the edge of the water shout for you.
Weary from the waves you slowly swim, practically float, back to shore before your family scrambles to help you out. They rapidly ask if youâre okay, covering you with towels.
âWe saw you go under and didnât come up for so long.â Your mom explains still very worried.
âDid you guys see that shark?!â From behind by the beach house, your uncle calls out as he comes running.
âWait, shark?â You blurt out.
Your uncle rapidly explains how he saw the fin poking out of the water around you.
âCould have been a dolphin.â Your aunt offers.
âNo, definitely looked like a shark. Thank goodness you got outta the water.â Your uncle playfully ruffles the towel over your head.
A few bystanders sitting nearby ask how youâre doing and also comment how they swore they saw the ominous shark fin swimming around you.
A shark. It doesnât make sense. You felt strong very human hands on you. You knew a guiding force saved you.
But then the thick cotton clouds above pop and the rain comes. After heading inside and deciding to rest for the day, your gaze stays watching the harsh waves. The storm and ocean move in tandem. You wonder about the man you met, if heâs safe in the water.
Maybe itâs all the talk of the supposed shark in the water, but before you end up fading into a nap, you swear you see a fin swimming in the current.
- đ€ -
âYou gonna be okay with us heading to the museum?â
For the millionth time you reassure your mom youâll be fine staying back and getting more rest. The rain from yesterdayâs storm stayed, a quiet downpour thankfully not as strong. After everyone heads out, you see this as an opportunity to head out to the beach.
With the rain, the shoreline is vacant. So with your umbrella you head to the beach. The murky water under the dim sky seems more mysterious and your eyes scan the waves, maybe waiting for something to appear.
âGlutton for punishment or somethinâ?â The familiar twanged voice.
Immediately you snap your gaze to the side. There in the water, closer to the edge of the shore, is your mystery man.
You blurt out how worried you were about the storm and about him. His eyebrows furrow.
âAinât nothinâ I canât handle.â He answers muttering.
âAnd you,â he asks, nudging his handsome chin towards you. âYâdoinâ alright?â
Your heart jumps in your chest. He came to check up on you.
Nodding firmly, you thank him gratefully. You knew it had to be him who saved you in the water.
The man simply nods.
You swallow hard then blurt out if heâs seen a shark.
His face hardens confused. Itâs actually adorable with how curiously his dark eyes shine.
âA shark?â He mumbles.
âYeah, thought I saw a fin in the water.â You donât want to tell him your uncle did as well.
âWasnât a shark.â He answers gruffly, almost a scoff.
You want to press more, ask if it was a dolphin instead when your stomach instead growls loud. Your eyes go wide embarrassed.
One of his eyebrows raises.
âSorry, need to grab some lunch soon.â You sigh embarrassed.
âThen head inside, lilâ minnow. Go get somethinâ to eat.â He says firm.
Before you can reply heâs sinking back in the water. But as he swims away thatâs when you catch it faintly -
A sleek fin towering out of the water.
The shark creature is him.
AlsoâŠyou realized he just called you a little minnow and for some reason, you find it oddly affectionate.
The next morning a mess of crabs clutter the beach. Even the neighbors besides your familyâs place head to the shore to admire.
âItâs like the sea wanted us to have a crab bake.â Your mom laughs.
âThey normally donât wash up on the beach in this many numbers, itâs odd.â One of the neighbors explains to your uncle.
While everyone eagerly moves to get the crabs, your eyes stay on the water hoping to spot a fin among the waves.
At night, once everyone is asleep, you quietly slip out and head to the beach. The patio lights from the beach homes cast a soft illumination. The crashing waves among the abyss beyond are strangely calming even with the darkness of sea and sky stretching out wide.
Patiently you sit at the edge of the water, not even knowing what youâre truly doing here.
âPersistent one, ainât ya?â
His voice emerges from the darkness and your soul almost jumps out of your body. This time the mysterious man flutters up from the waves and is closer than before.
âWhy were there so many crabs on the beach?â You ask quickly and curious.
âDonât know. Crabs are fuckinâ weird little shits.â He replies bluntly with a hard grimace.
A part of you thinks he does know why.
âHowâs your wound?â You ask.
Gingerly he lifts himself closer to the shoreline and then goes to rest halfway upon the beach allowing you a sight of his torso.
The area where the wound is healing up nicely and you even grin relieved.
But him being half out of the water onto the shore also allows you a better glimpse at his lower body.
Tail. He has a tail.
Itâs sleek, a deep stormy gunmetal gray, that in this dim lighting almost seems like a lovely rich blue. Faintly you can even see the dorsal find at his lower back.
Itâs beautiful.
Heâs beautiful. Lovely sun and age spots pepper his skin. His bare chest is broad and seems strong. This man from the sea is burly, solid, and aged, a force of the water that speaks of his power thatâs weathered the tides
You donât even realize youâve said something, much less called him beautiful, until your mystery man responds.
âYâthink Iâm beautiful?â He sounds terribly confused.
âWeirdest god damn human I ever met, lilâ minnow.â He adds muttering.
âI have a name.â You huff back, gently teasing.
âYeah?â
Your lips twitch at his reply, and you give him your name. This beautiful merman stays quiet.
âAnd you? Whatâs your name?â You ask cautiously but hopeful.
No reply comes. Youâre worried youâve pressed your luck.
âJoel.â
Until he answers, and you discover this mermanâs name is so lovely.
âDonât normally see ya around here.â Joel comments.
You perk up asking if he lives nearby.
âMore or less.â A cryptic answer.
You explain that youâre here for the summer. After finishing up for the semester you and your mom decided to take a break out here.
âYounger than I fuckinâ though.â Joel says harsh under his breath, and annoyance bristles in you.
âProbably not as young as you think.â You argue back, even explaining youâre just starting grad school so the break was needed.
Joel scoffs, not looking convinced.
âMaybe youâre just an old barnacle.â You fire back, teasing.
Surprisingly, this man from the water snorts amused. The sound is precious. You want to ask him more, learn more about him, but a tratorious yawn escapes you.
âHead to sleep, lilâ minnow.â Joel mumbles.
âNot tried.â You huff, but another yawn betrays you.
âMhm.â Joel hums, and you think you see a twinkle of amusement in his deep eyes.
Thereâs so much you want to say, maybe even ask when youâll see him again. But rising up off the sand, you hear a splash in the waves.
The spot where Joel rested is now empty. A wistful ache settles into your chest.
However the next morning though, an impressive mess of clams and oysters are on the beach. A bright bubble of a laugh almost escapes you.
When the night rolls in, you again sneak back down to the beach. This time you bring some of the leftover sushi from dinner.
You donât wait for long before Joel swims onto the shoreline.
You greet him with a warm grin. His focus however is on the container on your lap. His handsome scrunched up face seems grumpier.
âWhatâs that?â He rumbles.
âItâs just fish and rice.â You explain opening the container. âThought we could share.â
âItâs sushi.â He flat out says and your eyes go wide. He knows what sushi is and you even admit your surprise.
âYes I know what sushi is.â He replies a bit crabbier. âDonât live in a fuckinâ damn cave.â
âWhere do you live?â You ask now.
âSomewhere.â He replies flatly not answering, so you donât push it.
Instead you return to the meal before you.
âSince itâs fish, thought you might enjoy it.â You offer.
âYouâŠbrought me food?â His voice sounds steeled, cautious. You realize how suspicious it sounds and how hesitant he would be.
âItâs fine, I promise.â You reassure and even prove it by chomping down on one of the California rolls. Trying to ease the tension you ramble about the different types of sushi you like and those you donât care for too much.
You realize now you must sound ridiculous. Youâre about to clamp your mouth shut when very cautiously, slowly, Joel reaches over and grabs one.
Itâs like feeding a stray cat and not wanting to scare it. You canât help but turn to stare and see his reaction. He plops it in his mouth and cutely chews thoughtfully.
âWell?â You ask a bit hopeful.
Joel simply shrugs, almost bored, not even speaking on the taste or if he likes it.
But you do notice he reaches for another one.
In the quiet night, you and Joel simply sit enjoying this space together. You try to ask more about him and about his world. But the dry unamused look he gives his answer.
Joel instead is the one asking questions about where you live, what are you studying for, and one question that knocks you out surprised.
âYâdont got a mate.â Itâs more of a statement than a question, but you still almost choke on a sushi roll.
Stammering, you ask him what made him say that.
âDonât have the mark humans wear that theyâre taken.â Joel comments then moves to point to his ring finger where a wedding band would sit.
âSome couples donât wear bands.â You argue back.
âOh? Ya one of âem then?â He challenges.
Deflated, you mutter out a low no.
âWhy?â Joel asks direct.
âWhy what?â
âWhy donât ya have a mate?â He questions serious and his thick voice crawls over your skin.
You shrug, not knowing how to fully answer. Instead you half heartedly tell him you havenât found anyone yet.
âDonât sound like a good enough reason.â Joel replies.
Now youâre annoyed, even feel your face scrunch up at his casual tone.
âWhy do you even care?â Your question comes out a bit sharper than expected.
Joel shrugs. âJust donât make sense why a young thing like you is alone.â
Immediately you fire back that youâre not alone. You have friends and family that love you.
Now you stare at Joel hard and fully annoyed. His dark eyes scan your face while he stays composed, unable for you to read.
Your phone chimes with a text notification breaking the moment. You decide to call it a night. Joel is quiet when you move to leave.
The air hangs thick and tense. Internally, you try reasoning that youâre literally talking to a mythical being. This merman was bound to have a strange view of human customs.
You simply tell him good night and walk back.
Before you head inside, you turn around to the shore unable to stop yourself.
Joel very visibly is still in waves. His upper half floats among the obsidian sea with his dark eyes hyper focused on you. However once you spot him, let your eyes lock into his, the merman sinks into the water.
That night you dream of a man from the waves so handsome and real in your arms, but it feels as dangerous as a storm.
The following morning, instead of creatures fit for a seafood restaurant waiting, the most lovely shell sits on the sand.
âOh thatâs pretty.â Your mom even coos. It is.
Cherished and still in awe, you place the shell on your dresser.
Later that night you return to the beach again. This time time with a bag of chips.
Joel arrives hastily.
âThe shell is lovely.â You tell him.
âDonât know what youâre talkinâ âbout.â He answers simply, but his gaze stays eyeing the chip bag. Your heart warms even at his grumpy reply.
Opening the bag, Joel wrinkles his nose.
âSmells salty as hell.â He sneers.
âSays someone who lives in saltwater.â You snort munching on one of the chips.
âThatâs sayinâ something if I say that shit is salty.â Joel huffs.
âTheyâre delicious.â You clarify holding out a chip to him. Joelâs face scrunches up even more, you laugh.
âWhatâs with all the sudden human food?â
You shrug. âJust a nice late night snack, thought we could share thatâs all. Let you maybe just try more human food.â
With a cautious hard frown, Joel leans forward to the chips in your fingers and moves to bite it. In the process though his lips slide over your fingers.
His mouth is hot, wet. You even feel the brush of his tongue against your fingertips and try not reacting.
Joel makes a face as he chews, maybe not aware of what he just did. Your heart however rages fast and you ask if he liked it.
Now Joelâs eyes flicker to yours. You notice him swallow, notice how thick and bare his neck is and how you want to kiss it already.
He shrugs. Youâre learning thatâs a very common Joel answer and canât push for more.
âYour mother. She seems nice.â He suddenly says.
Youâre surprised he noticed her earlier out here. Sheâs been enjoying reading while you stayed inside enjoying a nice nap.
âYeah, sheâs pretty great.â You admit with a soft smile.
âJust you and her?â He presses and you agree happily.
âWhereâs your father?â
You didnât know youâd be discussing this with him. But you explain gently that your dad passed away when you were younger.
âOh.â Joelâs voice pops a bit. âI⊠I apologize.â
You reassure him youâre alright. You were young, a child then, and appreciate his sympathy.
âBesides my mom always told me if I ever missed him, I just had to look up.â You tell Joel.
âWhat?â He asks and you turn your gaze up to the sky.
The stars are faintly out but so sweetly twinkling in the dark.
âMy mom said my dad sits with the stars now, watching down and always shining bright to remind me heâs always with me, even when I can't see him.â
The words still warm you to this day.
Joel stays silent.
âAnd you? Whatâs your family like?â You ask returning your eyes back to earth, back to this son of the sea.
Joel continues to stay quiet. His focus now falls to the sand where you sit. You shouldâve known he wouldnât respond to something so personal.
âGot a brother, but he doesnât live too close. Heâs gotta pod of his own now.â
He has a brother. And they call their families pod. This information warms you, feels precious and rare.
âI had a pup.â Joel admits.
He had a child.
âLost her many years ago.â He mutters soft.
Your heart shatters deep in your chest.
âJoel, Iâm so incredibly sorry.â You tell him earnestly and sympathetic.
You gently ask him what her name was.
âSarah.â A lovely name.
You glance back up at the sky. You donât know anything about merfolk culture, how they honor those who have passed. But you can at least honor her the way you know how.
âSarah is definitely up there too among the stars, watching over you.â You say reassuring.
The stars seem to twinkle back.
Again, Joel stays silent. Youâre worried you might have stepped too far.
âThank you.â
But in the soft breeze of the night, you almost miss his kind soft whisper of a reply back.
You and Joel sit in a soft silence for the rest of the night.
Waking up the next morning, from the view of your bedroom window, another shell sits on the beach.
This goes on for a little over a week. You sneak down to talk with Joel, even teach him how to play tic tac toe in the sand and discover heâs a sore loser.
Then beautiful trinkets arrive on the beach the following mornings.
Some were dazzling sea glass pieces you want to find a way to make into a necklace. Once he even left you a weather and a very old waterlogged broken compass.
You cherish it all.
But then one night, Joel doesnât show. You wait, and wait. But no appearance of your merman. And no new seashell or trinket sits on the beach the morning after.
Again you head down to the beach at night. Still no sign of Joel.
You try not to get wrapped up in worry. But soon a week passes.
Now youâre worried, fully wondering what could have happened. You donât even know where he lives to say you can simply go check on him. You feel a bit helpless, frustrated.
At the weekâs end, your aunt wants to take you and your mom to a nice dinner in town. That night enjoying the nice meal, your eyes still drift to the view of the sea. Watching the soft waves, the dreamy sea, you simply hope Joel is okay.
When you get back, you head straight to bed and wonder if youâll see your merman again.
In the morning, you almost donât look out the window, like youâre trying to slowly detach yourself. But you do.
On the beach sits a new shell.
You practically fly out of the house and down to the shore.
Later that night, Joel this time rests on the edge of the water - waiting for you.
Heâs never looked more beautiful in the moonlight.
You exhale relieved, welcoming him back. Joelâs eyes seem endless as he stares at you nodding
âSorry, had some things I had to sort out.â He explains, even apologizes. You donât even want to press why or get upset that he simply vanished.
Heâs here and heâs alright. Thatâs what matters.
âI know it might be too personal, and you can tell me no,â you begin weakly. âBut where do you live around here?â
You rationally explain itâs simply to see and make sure heâs alright. You even vow to keep it a secret.
âWorried about an old ass barnacle like me, lilâ minnow?â Teasing, heâs faintly teasing.
But you do worry about him. Even tell him that. Joel doesnât reply for a moment.
âTomorrow, come âere early. And Iâll show ya.â His voice is as steady as a river.
You barely get any sleep that night. Before the sun even reaches over the horizon, with the sky faintly showing signs of waking up, you head down to the shore.
Joel already waits for you. Heâs ethereal in the morning light. The soft cotton candy sky paints him in a delicate glow.
You walk along the shore while he stays in the ocean and you follow his lead. The guide of his fin from the waves would look menacing, the sign of a terrifying shark in the water. Yet you follow it without hesitation. Thankfully the pace is easy and you enjoy the fact that you simply have him by your side in his own way.
Slowly you walk further away from the familiar beach homes and down towards a more secluded part of the coastline. The houses begin to dwindle. Those still standing houses seem older in their style, rickety and abandoned.
Compared to your familyâs beach home that sits further back on the land, these homes sit right above the water.
Weathered from their location, they seem like ghosts watching you. Eventually Joel leads you to a home thatâs collapsed.
Halfway in the water, halfway in the sand, it is a cluster of debris and scattered remnants of a home
You watch Joel swim into it from the sea.
So this is where he stays. You find a small alcove to duck under and then step in. Surprisingly, the beach house had collapsed into a father cozy like alcove.
The echoes of the ocean softly swirl all around. When you glance out the opening, it gives a clear sight to the sea where Joel must freely swim in and out hidden by the cover of this remnant.
Heâs made a home out of these hollow bones. He emerges out of the water, and his freshly slicked back hair has always made his face seem sharper. But here in the soft atmosphere he seems even more dreamy.
You earnestly thank him for showing this to you and even admire its coziness.
âYâlike it?â His voice is gruff as you continue taking in the space. Yet you feel eyes on you the entire time.
âI do.â You admit truthfully.
Thatâs when you spot the towel you gave him. Itâs crinkled up in a ball, still covered in some dried blood. But he kept it. That reality gets logged in your throat.
You go to sit down on the sand and slide off the bag you brought. You didnât know how long the trip was going to take and trying to add to the lie you told your family about going to search for sand dollars, you added the bag.
Now it proved handy as you pull out the box of assorted fruits you packed.
Feels like itâs been so long since Joel and you have done this.
Handing him an orange slice, he bites down on the whole thing not even letting you finish explaining not to eat the peel. You shriek a bit panicked, but he mumbles about you worrying too much.
âWell, someoneâs gotta worry for you.â You huff back.
In this seemingly short yet expansive time youâve known him itâs like youâve become completely bonded to this strange man.
In very common Joel fashion, he settles into silence. Playfully taking an orange slice, you put it in your mouth then smile at Joel.
He snorts a faint type of laugh and itâs everything.
This time you also notice how close he rests on the sand next to you now, closer than heâs ever been before.
âYâknowâŠâ Joel begins soft. âNever got to thank ya for savinâ me.â
His tender low rumble almost mixes in with the crash of the tide. You think of the blood stained towel still here.
âItâs okay. And youâre welcome. Plus I think weâre even now at this point.â You gently tease.
A deep hum comes.
âAinât like any human Iâve ever met.â He says even lower than before.
Something indescribable claws in you, and you glance at him. Joel is undeniably gorgeous, the most beautiful being youâve ever seen.
His usual slicked back curls are starting to dry, highlighting their light fluff, and you ache to brush back some of his strands. However his intense gaze bores unflinchingly into yours. Itâs like his eyes spark a fire in your chest burning everything in its wake.
Before anything can be said, Joel suddenly snaps up sharply glaring out to the sea.
âNeed to get ya home, lil minnow. Gonna storm soon.â
The sky looked so clear on your walk here. Even now it doesnât seem like a storm approaches. But you trust Joel. The minute you reach the beach house, thunder rolls in the distance.
Later, in the shower, your mind drifts to Joel. Your thoughts have been with him so much. But now they cross into a more sticky territory.
Joel resting beside you earlier was the first time you had ever seen him fully out of the water. Your eyes snuck as many glances as you could trying to commit the sight to memory.
You knew his golden skin bled into the color of his tail. But his tail, now that you fully saw it, was magnificent. Strong, sleek and sturdy, it speaks of how much power he holds as a son of the sea. Yet you canât stop wondering where his reproductive organs were.
You knew he had a daughter but you also donât know if maybe he adopted her. You didnât want to ask about merfolk procreating, but your mind swirls with thoughts of it. Thoughts of something slippery slick, simply Joelâs, slithering in between your legs clouds your imagination and your throat goes dry.
Youâre so caught up in those thoughts, you donât even head down to the ocean that night.
Instead you dream of merman and the taste of saltwater on your lips.
-đ€-
The beach is crowded today. You shouldâve known the weekend would bring in more crowds. The amount of people must have deterred Joel away from leaving a gift.
You admit you were a little heartbroken when you didnât see anything on the beach this morning, but you understood.
Now you sit peacefully in the water and search for more shells in the sand to add to your growing collection.
Eventually a soft beach ball gently bumps onto you.
âSorry!â The splashes come, and off to the side are a pack of three frat boy like guys.
âKinda got away from us.â One of them says bashfully.
âItâs okay.â You reassure.
âI like your swimsuit.â The guys smiles, and you thank him.
âYou wanna come hang with us? You look lonely.â One of them asks then takes a swig of his beer.
Politely you decline, but thank them for the offer.
âAww,â another says, swimming a bit closer. âCâmon. Gotta be better than just sitting here doing nothing.â
âIâm fine.â You kindly try to stay composed, but you already donât care for how persistent they are.
âMan just leave her, she looks like a fuckinâ prude anyway.â One of them laughs, and your gut feels uneasy.
Fucking pieces of shit.
You don't even reply, not knowing what else they can do. Skin feeling tight, you want to get out of the water now, and hope they leave soon.
They snicker and laugh with each other, talking amongst themselves. It makes your skin crawl even more. Now you really decide to leave.
Suddenly a horrified scream comes.
Itâs male, pierces through the air with pure agony.
You whip your gaze around and find blood spilling into the water. One of the guys that was just speaking to you is the one screaming, holding his leg swearing something attacked him. Another one of the guys then collapses into the sea as he screams. More blood colors the waves.
âThere was something in the fucking god damn water!â One of them yells.
Off to the distance someone yells âshark!â and terror fills you fast. The panicked commotion arrives. You frantically scan around.
The fin barely moves above the waves, but you catch a glimpse before it dips below the water.
From the shore, your mother screams your name begging you to get out. You return to land but are determined to find Joel.
âIâm gonna take a walk, clear my head.â You tell your mom.
âThereâs a shark in the water! Just stay inside for the day.â She urges.
Promising you wonât get in the water you even reassure her youâll have your phone on hand. With an apprehensive sigh, she nods.
You practically fly down the coastline.
Even in the middle of the day, no one pays you a second glance. Thankfully further down the beach the commotion trickles down until itâs just you and the sea. Approaching the decayed and vacant homes, this time they feel like guards keeping you safe.
Immediately you slide into Joelâs alcove. Youâre not sure it was him, but something inside just whispers it was.
You discover a sight.
Joel sits halfway out of the water and snaps his face up to you. His eyes are what you notice first. Even with how dark they are, his pupils are now slits, reptilian like. Then when he spots you, they expand and dilate as his face crumbles.
He mutters out your name.
You spot his hands - now instead claws with faint traces of blood staining them.
Before you is an apex predator, a true hunter of the waters. And heâs glorious.
The blood seems to confirm it was him in the water. He attacked those guys.
âGo home!â He barks, a fierce growl.
âDid they hurt you?â You ask softly, approaching him with hesitant steps.
He repeats his words, roaring at you to leave, but you donât. Even with how fierce and terrifying his voice rages, you move, almost possessed, to kneel on the sand beside him.
âAre you hurt?â You repeat again gently.
He pauses before barking out a quick no.
âYou were in the water?â You question low.
âIâŠâ youâve never heard Joel hesitate like this. Your eyes stay on his claws.
A moment passes.
âAlways try to swim nearby when yâget in the water.â Joel admits, like he doesnât even register yet that he's speaking.
Your heart gets tangled in your throat.
âNormally I stay far away and deep enough, but those fucking boys⊠the things they said.â He snarls disgusted and vicious.
He attacked them because of you. That reality rearranges your soul.
You now gingerly reach down to the water and gingerly grab his hand. Reflectively he almost draws away.
âWhatâre yâdoing?â He mutters sharp.
âThereâs still blood.â You whisper back then start pouring water over his hands, cleaning him.
The emotions surging in you feel too deep and strong to describe, but they consume you. You rinse his hands, being cautious of the sharp edges, watching the water fade away the crimson more and more.
Itâs quiet in the alcove. Just you, him, and the soft sound of the waves. When his hands are free of blood, you gather one in your grasp. His talons are sharp. Heâs dangerous, and you adore him. You gently draw it up to your face.
He doesnât stop you. You even worry this might be too much, possibly overstepping. But this feeling in your chest is so raw you canât stop.
You lean into Joelâs palm and gently kiss the center of it as your eyes close.
âThank you.â You speak, barely recognizing your soft voice.
Suddenly youâre jostled. Your eyes snap open petrified thinking heâs shoving you away. Only to find heâs instead swiftly pulling you closer.
Youâre only allowed to process that in a blink before his lips crash into yours. You inhale sharp but eagerly scramble to grab onto him now.
He tastes like the sea, of something deep and ancient but beautifully Joel, and your mouth opens up to him wide and greedy.
You can tell he hasnât kissed recently, or maybe kissing other merfolk is different, but heâs messy. Teeth clink and crash, but itâs fierce, truly him.
Like the surge of a wave Joel moves against you unleashed, and you draw him closer now moving to rest back against the sand.
Joel shifts moving over your body with a clumsy but earnest ease as he continues kissing you fervently.
Your hands run up his broad and strong shoulders while his hands, claws no more, now map your body out.
âSo god damn soft.â He says hoarse and deep against your lips. Then Joel burrows his face against your neck and inhales.
âSmell sâgood.â His voice trails off while his lips begin kissing and nipping against your skin.
Your body reacts, rising up to grind against him.
âJoel.â You whisper out his name and he growls. The vibrations of it rumble against your skin rattling your bones.
âWanna mate ya.â He mutters low, as if smoke leaks into his voice. âWanna make yâmine.â
âPlease please please.â You beg him dizzy and clawing at him.
Joel licks at your skin, and your eyes close in bliss.
Heâs a force, dizzying and consuming like the sea itself, and you happily fall under his current. Your swimsuit top is discarded and Joel makes quick work diving down your body to your bottoms.
Without warning he shoves his face into between your legs, flat against your pussy and inhales deep. The most powerful groan rattles the air and you whine.
âWanna taste, want more.â He mutters possessed, clawing at your bottoms that you shimmy out of.
Now you squirm a bit self aware, very hyper aware, of how intently Joel pokes and strokes around your folds with eyes focused.
You even shift your legs hoping to close them when he growls.
âDonât hide. Sâmine.â The possessive nature leaking out of his voice makes you drip.
That first lick he takes against you, you almost come especially when he groans debauched.
âTaste so fuckinâ good, knew yâd taste so fuckinâ good.â Joel mumbles.
What he lacks in his full knowledge of your body, he makes up for that in how fervently he lets his tongue explore and dive into you. It drives you mad, and your hips trash trying to press into him more.
When you come, he moans loud.
Lips wet with your essence Joel crawls up your body in a daze kissing you as much as he can.
Now he grinds down into you and you feel a very new sensation, a hard bump against your core.
Joel draws back and you now fully see the new raised area against his front torso. His hand palms it, the same way a human would, and he hisses. You ache to touch him.
âWanna make you feel good too.â You mutter.
Joel blinks back at you, still hazy in his dark eyes. But he leans down and bumps his head against yours soft.
âStarlight, yâsure you want this?â You sure you want me, is what you hear.
You nod and kiss him soft on the lips.
A part of you wanted to be afraid, to not face the growing desire for this creature of a man. But when Joel and you become one, it feels as if the world becomes whole. Like this is what itâs always meant to be, you and him.
Your legs sliding against his tail, his teeth biting into your neck with an aching promise wanting to break the skin, you discover a crescendo of passion like no other, a crashing of the land and sea.
He is yours, just as much as you as his.
Now curled against him on the sand, your merman keeps you in his arms tracing his fingers against your shoulder. Every inch of you feels sore but in a delicious way. You enjoy resting against his sturdy frame.
âYouâre still so warm.â Joel mutters a bit in awe.
âAnd you feel nice and cool.â You smile wiggling closer to him even while being practically glued to his side.
âCan I askâŠâ you begin hesitantly, and he hums a rumble of a noise that sounds like heâs giving you the okay.
You ask him why he suddenly vanished for that week.
Joel sighs, dreary and deep.
âDidnât wanna face how⊠close I was gettinâ to you.â The reveal makes your heart flutter.
Softly you rub against his solid chest then lean to kiss it.
âGlad you came back.â You tell him, and he simply nods.
However even in this soft afterglow, a small doubt trickles now in.
âJoel.â
âHm?â He sounds as if heâs falling asleep against you.
âIs this⊠Are you sure this is okay?â You ask delicately.
Joel snorts.
âYeah, sâokay.â He reassures you. âBeen practically courting ya this entire time anyway.â
He says it almost casually, like if itâs an afterthought. Your mind however skips over itself.
You bolt up to look down at your merman still lounging on the sand. His face scrunches up pouting at the loss of your body next to his.
âWait? Courting?!â Your voice shrills.
Joel rolls his eyes and tugs at your arm trying to get you back into his embrace.
âWhat do you mean courting?!â You continue sqwuaking.
âYou sound like a seagull.â He deadpans. You swat at his shoulder urging him to please explain.
You even stare at him determined. An adorable almost bitterly bashful expression colors Joelâs handsome face. Those deep eyes of his dart away from your stern gaze.
âSânothinâ. Been takinâ care of you same way youâve been takinâ care of me, thatâs all.â He replies gruffly still seeming embarrassed.
Suddenly it all clicks.
A few semesters back you took an ecology course for a science credit. You faintly remember a lecture about how different species mating behaviors. Your professor even made a comparison of a man winning a game of billiards against another guy to establish himself as a strong opponent.
In essence, sometimes mating rituals were about proving you were a strong provider and protector.
Joel had been doing this all along. The way he protected you on the beach, the various seafood critters left on the beach, the way you also fed him, along with the beautiful seashells and trinkets he left -
It had all been his own way of showing his affection and intentions.
Your merman opens his mouth to say something, but you pounce on him quickly. You kiss him pouring in all your devotion you can, and Joel welcomes you greedily.
Eventually a text from your mom comes asking if youâre alright and it gently bursts the bubble youâve been happily sheltered in. Begrudgingly you kiss Joel many times goodbye. He of course swims by your side the entire walk home.
Later that evening, you sneak back out to the shoreline and kiss your handsome myth of man so many times under the moon's watchful eye.
âSo youâre mine?â You ask quietly among the crash of the waves.
Joel nods firm and steady. âJust like youâre mine.â
You float in a dreamy bliss and wish more than ever you donât have to leave him for the night.
âDonât worry, lilâ minnow.â He reassures you with one last soft kiss. âIâll be in the water.â
Itâs a promise, a vow, as true and beautifully ancient as the sea.

I've been thinking, about how you would make sea creature kazumaji... do you already have headcannons for that or is it something more new?
a lil mix of both đ€ I originally drew eeljima for MerMay and was gonna leave it at that but I got really attached to the idea of kiryu and his dumb fish boyfriend so I rolled with it kdlsjfddsf. I got a few ideas tho đ
majima's an eel - nothing specific but I leaned to electric since the rpg games give him electricity as an element. also, knifefish (what a coincidentally convenient name đ) have spots that remind me of his snake's spots so that fit well with his overall theme plus they're related to eels so even better >:D saejima's also a fishdude, a grouper specifically because they're huge and chonky but also gentle uwu
kiryu's a silly lil fisherman guy, one of them commercial types that goes out on a boat to get big hauls. nishiki's there too being the saddest wettest little beast. other characters make up part of the crew in similar ways the canon families are set up. so like kazama and kashiwagi for example are captains of the crew
I have thought about if they were fish too if I wanted to do a branching AU of this and kiryu could maybe be a thresher shark - because they got that big slappy tail but also their huge beautiful eyesâą. OR a betta fish because I think the colors would really compliment his heat colors. nishiki can be a koi because of course
kiryu and nishiki live in a lil shack on the shore. nishiki hates it but kiryu likes the simplicity and being close to work. nishiki would move closer to the city but frankly all the haircare product he buys is so obscene that he can't afford a place on his own â
majima and saejima (+ yasuko) live in some nearby kelp forests/coral reefs. merfolk tend to stay away from humans and live further out in the ocean, deeper underwater but these three take advantage of all commercial fishing going on to get some easy food. but being so close to fishing trawlers, this leads to majima getting caught in a discarded net, being trapped and beached where kiryu finds him đ
merfolk can breath air and go on land but it is as awkward as you can imagine. when majima hangs out with kiryu, kiryu drags him up the beach to enough dry land where the tide isn't a problem. merfolk do have to be moisturized often so majima's either doused with a bucket of water or gets a big ass lathering of lotion. whether or not that'd actually be realistic doesn't matter to me I just think it'd be funny for nishiki to be very suspect of the comical amount of lotion kiryu suddenly starts buying
majima's fav thing to do with kiryu is have him fry up some fish since he's never had cooked food before and thinks it's the bee's knees. kiryu will often go into town to buy all sorts of things for majima to try or majima will catch some wack fish from who knows where for kiryu to fry up. they pick secluded beaches as not to be disturbed but kiryu is ready to fling majima into the ocean at a moment's notice just in case
majima has a second set of jaws normally not visible unless he's snacking on a fish. sometimes he pops em out for a smooch and kiryu is wary but willing to try anything đ€ nishiki is often very worried about the numerous weird bite marks kiryu comes home with but kiryu chalks it up to clumsily falling face first into some coral. you can tell by now I'm very into the trope of person dating a cretur is very bad at keeping it a secret dsklgjk
majima tends to have electrical flare ups when he's feeling emotional so kiryu ends up getting zapped a lot. it's not enough to be dangerous but kiryu has since avoided touching light switches and makes nishiki use them first
rarely kiryu will take majima out on the town in a wheelbarrow covered in a blanket and everyone's like *squint* but eventually gets used to his funny lil friend who seems fascinated by literally everything
there's defo some tigerfish action at a later point once nishiki eventually decides to follow kiryu to one of his little secret beachside escapades to not only find out kiryu's being a weirdo as usual but now with a weirdo fishguy. on the other side, saejima is eventually convinced that there is not a bunch of people on the shore waiting with harpoons and nets and joins majima for one of kiryu's fish fries and finds out hey maybe humans ain't so bad if they can put up with majima for more than five minutes
#I had this side idea that there's also a boat that daigo's on and Mine is constantly trying to get transferred over there#but there is a comical number of obstacles in his way and he's bout ready to swim over there himself in the middle of a hurricane#everyday their boats part you just see Mine gripping the side of his ship with big melty eyes and daigo on the other ship doesn't notice#just random drama happening over there while kiryu and majima frolic in the background#merfolk!au#yakuza#ryu ga gotoku#kiryu kazuma#majima goro#saejima taiga#nishikiyama akira#kazumaji#my art

The Sea Breeze Carries Unknown Secrets
Poly!141 x reader. Special edition for mermay!
Recently your grandfather had passed away, leaving you his one story seaside cabin in a small town you had visited growing up. Your grandfather took over the house once your grandmother had passed, leaving it just to him and whoever decided to visit. You were the one to visit the most, spending summers on end in that small cabin playing in the sand that covered the front yard.
You can still vividly remember the feeling of the sand getting stuck under your nails as you dug a moat around the small sand castle you built. Though it looked more of a heap of sand then a castle, since you could only use dry sand.
Whenever you tried to wander closer to the sea line your grandfather would always pull you away and tell you how dangerous the sea was. Mumbling to himself about creatures that would snatch up any thing they found interesting.
Your grandfather was seen as a crazy by everyone in you family, with his stories about his time at sea and the things he had encountered. Everyone in your family ignored him but you always sat and listened with intrigue. Stories of mermaids and sirens that haunted the rocks and the coastlines of the seaside town.
The small coastal town embraced your grandfatherâs stories with their own, twisting in their own thoughts on the creatures that haunted the sea. When the summers came where you sat in town listening to all the stories that were woven.
The town looked just the same as it did when you were younger, as you slowly drove into the streets remembering the summers you spent here with your grandfather⊠and now they were the streets you would be living in. It wasnât long before you pulled up to the sandy driveway of the house you inherited.
âJust how I remembered itâ you smiled to yourself as you started to unpack your bags from your car. There wasnât much to move from your small apartment in the city, so it only took close to twenty minutes to bring everything in.
You had finished unpacking later in the evening, leaving you quite exhausted. With a heavy sigh you sat yourself back on the couch, exhausting eating away at your muscles. Eventually you gave in to the tiredness and fell asleep, the comfort of the couch and the sea breeze blowing from the window lulled you to sleep.
The sound of the breeze whistling through your window and a soft chime swinging from your porch filled your dreams, leaving you feeling comforted in the new environment. Though it was soon to break with the sounds of splashing water, louder then the ones you hear before a storm brews.
With a jolt you sat up from the couch, leaving you with crumpled clothes and an ache in your neck. Your mind told you to brush off the sounds and go back to sleep, but as they say, curiosity killed the cat.
Carefully you reached out and grabbed your phone from the coffee table, using the screen to illuminate your way to the front door and outside to the beachside that you considered your front yard. It takes a second before your eyes finally adjust to the dark of night.
When your eyes do adjust you notice a dorsal fin cutting through the water, leaving a small wake of ripples behind it. Sharks never came this close to shore, so it was a surprise to see this. The fin quickly dipped back into the water, leaving you with more curiosity than before.
As you step out of the house to get a better look, the water quickly splashes, large enough to send rippling waves to the shore. Along with the splash you think you hear a gruff laugh calling out from the ocean, surely your just imagining it. Youâve barely even slept!
The splashes continued, your eyes drifting to watch the water rippling. Gaining some courage you step off of your porch and get a little closer to the shoreline, when a large splash sends freezing ocean water to soak through your clothes.
âShit! Thatâs cold-â you cursed to yourself as you backed up slightly. With your voice breaking the silence of the night, the crashing of water immediately stops and it goes eerily quiet. The silence qualms your curiosity, it must have been some fish.
Right as you go to turn away you notice two heads popping up out of the water, it takes you a second to reel in the fact that itâs two human heads. A pair of crystalline blue that could rival the sea, and a pair of chocolate brown eyes that made you want to melt under.
Surely this was a delusion of exhaustion right?
âWell look aâ the Bonnie lass we âave âereâ the one with crystalline blue eyes spoke, a Scottish lilt to the voice.
Your eyes widened at the scene unfolding right before you, two men in the ocean..? At this ungodly hour? Questions riddled your mind as your tried to find an answer to this mystery, though your brain kept trying to tell you that you were sleep deprived!
âGreat you scared her mateâ the one with chocolate eyes scoffed to the other, raising a hand to slap the back of the others head.
Finally you got yourself out of your head and tried to take notice of their features. The one with crystalline blue eyes seemed to be sporting an overgrown Mohawk, with some stubble that coated his chin and cheeks, and lastly seemed to be a scar that ran along his chin.
The one with chocolate brown eyes had shorter cut hair that looked like tight curls, along with a bit of stubble along his top lip.
You stayed quiet as you observed the men, though your eyes strained slightly when you looked at one of them. Instead of ears that looked similar to her own, she saw webbed fins that took place instead.
These werenât men.. these were the creatures your grandfather had warned you aboutâŠ
Note!- Iâm so nervous to post this!!! I hope everyone enjoys this; considering itâs only the prologue not much has happened yet but more will !!

PAC Pick a Picture: Yes or No (or Maybe) đđđ
Hey y'all, I'm back in time for the end of May with another pick a card reading. I thought that since it's been almost a year since my last yes or no reading, that now would be a good time to do my second one. Today, perhaps because of the last day of Mermay in part, I'm inspired by the colors green and blue (and some purple thrown in). I'll be using Mermaid Tarot for this reading. đđ§ââïž
Below, there are 12 images for you to choose from in a random color assortment, from left to right. Take a deep breath, pause, and relax all tension in your body before deciding what your question is. There are a lot of piles to choose from, so if you have a lot of questions, feel free to select them one at a time and read in any order you want.
Pile 1 - Hot Air Balloon Pile 2 - Peacock Tail Pile 3 - Plumbago Flowers (Light Blue) Pile 4 - Azurite Pile 5 - Grass Field Pile 6 - Lily Pad Pile 7 - Damselfly Pile 8 - Gentian Flowers (Dark Blue) Pile 9 - Blueberries Pile 10 - Blue Jay Pile 11 - Butterfly Pile 12- Mountain Bluebird
apologies for the misalignment in pics; this stock photo collage was initially for fun
Pile 1 - Hot Air Balloon
IX Hermit, 9 of Swords, 6 of Swords, XIII Death; 24 - Heal Thyself, 15. Adrift in Shallow Water
This pile is a No. You may be wanting to move forward with something, but the energy I'm picking up on is too closed inward and focused on the worst possible outcomes. You may need to detach from the situation if a decision is called for. Answers will more likely come to you when you are given the quietude and privacy needed to listen to your inner guidance system. It knows a lot more than it may let on, but you won't be able to hear it amidst the chaos.
"Take a few deep breaths and reconnect to your inner peace." This card is talking about using mindfulness to recenter the self. It is very difficult to make important decisions and move forward from a place of anxiety. Things are more likely to move in the direction you desire when you make plans from a calm and positive outlook. Once you're fully ready to move on, the tides will turn for you.
Pile 2 - Peacock Tail
4 of Pentacles, 4 of Cups, 6 of Cups, 7 of Pentacles; 13 - Awareness, 5. Change Direction With Ease
For you, this is a big Maybe. Your reading starts with two 4 cards which can indicate a state of stagnancy and lack of motion. With 6 of cups, you may be more focused on what's happened before than what could happen next. Remember that cycles don't always repeat themselves perfectly and giving something another go can reap potential success if you put in the proper dedication for it.
"You may be in for a surprise." 4 of Cups can talk about unforeseen surprises around the corner, so if you're able to keep your mind more ahead into the present and future rather than the past, you may be prepared to catch this surprise. This surprise could be the key to allowing things to flow through to a more desired resolution. Stay present for what's to come.
Pile 3 - Plumbago Flowers
XIX The Sun, XVIII The Moon, 3 of Cups, Queen of Cups; 7 - Clear Aura, 49. Be Insightful and Established
So this is a definite Yes with the Sun card coming out first! But then the Moon card popped up, which definitely surprised me. This combo doesn't often happen a lot! I think with this particular yes, you may be very excited to jump the gun and celebrate. But the Moon wants to remind you that as alluring as it may be to throw caution in the wind, it's important to keep your emotions leveled and even keeled. Your friends or community may also be affecting the choice or outcome; never mind their energy and stay true to what's in your own cup. Your intuition will guide you.
"Ground and realign your energy." Give yourself a clean fresh head start and look before you leap into anything. Lighten yourself from heavier energies. Make decisions from a place of solid reason rather than through the emotional frenzy that may surround you.
Pile 4 - Azurite
4 of Pentacles, Page of Swords, 2 of Cups, 5 of Pentacles; 14 - Grace, 42. Gentle Moderation
This pile is a very likely No. When I drew these cards, it was like rapid fire. All these cards came out at once. I feel there may be a lot of impatience, especially with the 4 of Pentacles. You may feel you've been waiting too long for something to come to fruition and you may be getting frustrated by the lack of results. With Page of Swords and 2 of Cups, I sense that there is an important lesson you must grasp before you can move ahead with this. It may have to do with communicating to your partner, friend, or coworker, or even asking for assistance.
"Take your time." Time is greatly emphasized in this pile. Before I drew this card and I saw Grace, I thought, "grace period." So you may be in or soon getting a grace period which will allow you to have the ability to ease back and think carefully about how you want to go forward. I get that it sucks when things don't show up when we've desire it for so long, but the cards want to remind you that you have more time than you think to get the results you're after.
Pile 5 - Grass Field
Knight of Pentacles, 8 of Cups, I Magician, 9 of Swords; 30 - Practical Intuition, 5. Change Direction With Ease
This pile looks to be a No, for at least this moment. This is something that may take a while to accomplish, but because you may be holding on to something no longer needed, it could be taking longer than necessary. The Magician card wants to remind you of your power to take control of the situation. Do not listen to the fears that disguise themselves as your intuition. Practical Intuition is about grounding your psychic energy into the material world. Remind yourself that your intuition works for you, not against you. When you're able to let go of old fears and worries, you'll be able to step forward with more confidence.
"It is a time to reconsider what you are wanting." Take some time to get clear on your intentions before you work your magic. The more you paint your worries as being realistic, the more likely they are to become real. Use your intuitive gifts for your benefit. You are not powerless in this situation. But it's ultimately up to you to change how this will all play out!
Pile 6 - Lily Pad Page of Wands, III of Swords, X Wheel of Fortune, 8 of Swords; 9 - Self Acceptance, 29. Empower Yourself
This pile is a Maybe because I almost took out the World card after 8 of Swords. I think with this pile, you need to take account of who you are and what you're capable of doing. You may get this sense that things are totally out of your hands and up to the universe to decide, but the cards are advising you to not default to that reasoning with this question. While it's one thing to recognize when things are out of our hands, this should not be confused with helplessness.
"Allow yourself to be the strong, beautiful person you are capable of being." I'm getting that some of you may be really harsh on yourselves when things don't turn out right. But resorting to negative self talk when things go wrong and positive talk about the universe when things go right, is an imbalanced way of perceiving this. You are powerful, and this situation can resolve itself in part thanks to your efforts. But you must be kinder with yourself to see this power first.
Pile 7 - Damselfly
XIII Death, XI Justice, XVIII The Moon, Page of Wands; 13 - Awareness; 3. In the Light of the Moon
This pile is a No. Something must be done away with here, something must be remain in the past. This is something that needs to occur inevitably, even if it's hard. Whatever it is, things seem to not be going to plan. Ultimately, this No will be in your personal favor, though it doesn't seem that way right now, because letting go will set things into better balance. You may be feeling lost with this, uncertain of how to proceed. But you are gently being guided to your next chapter in life. It's okay if you are feeling down right now, allow yourself to process the emotions (even if you're feeling disconnected from emotion) by doing what you find enjoyable to you as this all unfolds.
I find it interesting how the full moon shows up three times in this reading. I find this magically significant. Do you by chance work with lunar magic, or do you simply follow your emotional energy closely as the moon waxes and wanes? The number 13 appearing twice is also to be noted here. I'm getting that this will have to do with some kind of specific timing, like 13 days from now, or on the 13th of a month. Pay attention to your dreams for further insight and clues. Don't be afraid to shed the old to welcome in the new. Even if this doesn't work out, you carry so much magical potential in you that whatever comes next will be nothing short of wondrously transformative.
Pile 8 - Gentian Flowers
King of Pentacles, 2 of Swords, X Wheel of Fortune, King of Cups; 25 - Truth, 42. Gentle Moderation
This is a likely Yes, but there are signs of some wavering here. The message I channeled was to be true to yourself no matter what decision you may take. You may be dealing with too many conflicting opinions weighing in on something that may be important mainly for you. I'm getting practical needs vs. emotional needs. You must come to your own conclusions about how much you'll factor in one need compared to the other. If you decide both that are important, then you will need to figure out how to get the two needs to cooperate.
"Pressure from others or yourself can be released by renegotiating what you are trying to accomplish." One King to hold the wheel, the other to hold the compass. You are both the guide and the driver of this choice. Once you come to conclusions about what your personal Truth is, let that be your map to a more harmonious outcome.
Pile 9 - Blueberries
XII Hanged Man, 5 of Cups, Knight of Pentacles, XV The Devil; 29 - Nurture, 26. Where You Need to Be
This pile is a No. I'm getting a lot of nervous energy from this pile, I'm needing to take my time and breathe between each card. It may help for you to also take time out and breathe deeply. This could be something that has been stressing you out, keeping you in limbo. This is your sign to take it easy. Be gentle with yourself. You're being asked to see the difference between needing to be patient for things to manifest, and needing to rely on your own energy to overcome this. But you cannot use that energy if you cannot see it for yourself.
"Have faith the Universe will take care of a current concern by providing the best possible outcome for all involved." Just because something doesn't turn out now doesn't mean it won't be for later. You're on the right path, don't let this temporary situation sway you. In the meantime, your current focus needs to be on personal self care. You must tend to your garden and provide yourself with the healing you need to take on the things that are within your grasp.
Pile 10 - Blue Jay
2 of Wands, Ace of Wands, King of Swords, IV The Emperor; 21 - Shadow Treasures, 7. Dancing in the Rainbow
This pile is a strong Yes. You got what it takes to see this through. There is a passion lighting up from within you, and by keeping your head high and focusing on the outcome you desire, you will be given the tools you need to succeed in this. But all this won't happen on its own. You are being asked to do a majority of the work and organizing needed to pull this off. This may be a solo effort for the most part. But rest assured that you got the motivation and integrity to do it right.
"Break free from whatever you feel is holding you back." Your mind, the King of Swords, may try to freeze this fiery passion by giving you reasons that it isn't plausible or reasonable. But the 2 of wands says "this and more." Release the dichotomy of being rational and enthusiastic and embrace both, for they both have gifts to offer.
Pile 11 - Butterfly
8 of Cups, Page of Wands, King of Cups, Page of Swords; 3 - Strength, 5. Change Direction with Ease
This one is a soft Yes. It seems like there is something you need to work through first, however. You may be feeling like you need to hone in on specific skills or internal resources for the best results. You need to be confident in yourself that something must fall away if you want to begin a new with something else. Make peace with where you are now and see that you have an inner reservoir of talent and ambitions to tap into.
"This is a time for change, shapeshifting, or your soul's evolution." There is something telling you that the next stage to come will help you grow and become more well rounded. You've already mastered the art of staying calm under the tension of seeking greater and greater heights, now it's time to play into your passions and find new ways to learn and expand your knowledge.
Pile 12- Mountain Bluebird
Knight of Cups, Six of Wands, XI Justice, VIII Strength; 6 - Freedom, 11. Persistent Drive
This one is a strong Yes. Now is the exact time to make the move. Try to visualize or imagine your most desired outcome, first. Which one makes the most sense to you. Which one utilizes your greatest strengths? Which one gives you the emotional freedom to pursue your goals while abandoning all restrictions from the past that still try to tie you down? And, last but not least, which one recreates that joyful spark that lights up the dreams within you? Step out into the world and don't be afraid of a little bit of risk.
"See what you desire and move toward that goal." Be completely sure of where you want to go or want to do next. Set a practical target, one that you can easily see. Take a calculated risk, but don't get cocky or too brash. If all goes well, stay humble and pass the good vibes on.

*whispering chant* Mermay, mermay, mermay!
Other Worldly
Part 4
Part 3
Alastor X Shy Reader
Warnings â
â selectively mute reader, italics= thoughts, cannibalism-Rosie and Alastor â
They were still quiet.
Why were they still quiet?
Alastor was confused.
He gave them the option to speak normally, they could talk all they wanted after singing to him. So why wouldn't they?
One thing he forgot to take into account was that the mer was a quiet one, and only spoke out of necessity. Sure, they had spoken to Charlie. Giving the Princess and the others quite the surprise, but they hadn't spoken to him.
It's been a month.
Why not speak to me? I'm a wonderful conversationalist! We could talk for hours! He thought with an annoyed smile.
At the moment he was up in his radio tower, finishing up a broadcast and putting on some music. Muttering about how the siren must be too intimidated or too shy to speak to him.
What he didn't notice was his shadow leaving his side.
.
You paced back and forth in front of the Radio Demon's hotel door.
Can I go in? Am I allowed to? You kept asking yourself. I mean, it was the other half of the room that I'm allowed to use but I don't know if I can go in through the first half. You sighed. I should have just asked before coming here.
There was an odd rattling chuckle behind you and then you felt something pull you down.
"Whoa!", you yelped and looked down to find Alastor's shadow grinning. "What are you-!"
Everything went black as you were pulled into the darkness.
You closed your eyes out of instinct and held your breath, scared that something bad might happen. There was the sinking feeling in your stomach as you felt the shadow drag you somewhere before everything just stopped.
Then you heard the wind rustle the leaves, feeling it brush across your cheeks. Peeking an eye open, you saw that you were where you wanted to be.
The fireflies were out and blinking their lights, a few landing on the tall grass nearby the wooden dock that went out a few feet in the water. You heard the shadow make another noise and turned around to find them behind you.
"Thank you.", you smiled at them and started to take off your shoes.
The shadow tilted its head at you. confused until you started to take off your pants.
It hissed and turned away.
"Sorry! Sorry, forgot you were there.", you apologized but continued to take off the bottom half of your clothes. "Last time I fell in water, my pants ripped and those were my favorite.", you explained. "Maybe I should just wear long skirts or something."
With the bottom half taken care of, you left your shirt on and jumped into the water, laughing as you made a big splash. The feeling of your legs turning into a fin felt comfortable, you just hated when you had to get your legs back. Lifting your tail fin up, you started to push yourself closer to the middle of the water.
Then you noticed the shadow in the water, moving like a snake to get to your side.
"What are you doing?", you asked but just let the shadow swim around you in the water.
Closing your eyes, you decided just to stay put and float. An activity that you haven't done in a long while since dying.
A minute to relax couldn't hurt.
.
Alastor noticed his shadow was missing after it didn't appear when he tried to call for it.
How odd.. Where is that rascal? He thought and got up to search for it.
Feeling the static from his shadow, he found that it lead to his hotel room. It's not odd but usually the shadow stuck near him and followed orders. Something had its attention.
As quietly as he could, the deer demon opened the door. A quick glance, nothing was out of the ordinary, so he walked in and closed the door behind himself. Following the static, he found his shadow went deep into the bayou.
Let's see what you've got now. He thought before making his way through the brush.
The Radio Demon made a list of ideas of what his shadow could be doing. Messing around with one of the crocodiles, hunting one of the little creatures, or something entirely different that he hasn't seen it do already.
That's when he found the dock, spotting his shadow with a sleeping mer.
"Well this explains it.", he crossed his arms. "I suppose I don't really need your help, though it would make it easier if I did have it."
All his shadow did was make a rumbling pur.
"Yes, yes. You're comfortable but don't make this a habit.", he waved it off and turned to face away from the water. "I'll leave them in your care.", he said before leaving.
As he made his way over to Cannibal Town, he thought of getting something for his little mer.
Perhaps I can make them a little safe haven to get them more comfortable... Yes, that should work.
The bell of the emporium door rang as he stepped through and greeted his friend.
"Rosie! How lovely it is to see you!", he said with a genuine smile.
"Alastor! Where have you been? Honestly, after hearing about that little fish, I thought you'd give me a clue on what happened next.", the black eyed woman walked over and linked arms with the man in red, guiding him over to her office.
"I do apologize but I have good news!", he said as they both entered the office.
It was a familiar sight for him, the pink-ish wallpaper and the plush cushions on the couches. A few plate platters with snacks on the coffee table, tea, and eating utensils. Quite the relaxing room.
"Well don't keep me in suspense.", Rosie released his arm and took off her hat, setting it aside before sitting on one of the couches. "Would you like a snack? I've got some cut up thigh meat."
"Sounds lovely, don't mind if I do.", he sat on the couch across from her. "Now, for what you've been asking."
"Go on.", she said, getting the plate of thigh meat on the coffee table.
"I finally got the little mer to make a deal with me but the only problem is that I don't own their soul."
"And why not? You'd never make a deal unless you got something worthwhile out of it.", Rosie asked.
"Ha! I've got all that I wanted at the moment.", he grinned. "I've got half of their powers and get to listen to them sing.", his smile widened. "Now all I have to do is make them more comfortable until they give their soul to me willingly."
"Alastor, I hope you're not doing anything to hurt the poor thing.", Rosie placed a fork on the table and took her own to stab into the thigh meat. "Quiet one like that should be taken care of."
"Of course not!", he said to ease his friend's worries. "Which leads me to what I wanted to ask."
Alastor picks up the fork on the table and stabs it through a big slice.
"Do you have anything that would catch a siren's eye?"
*lying in bed, sick* Mermay, Mermay, Mermay!

Iâve been being eaten away at by devil eyes brain rot for a while now and even though itâs not may anymore
What if devil eyes eclipse was like, a mer creature of some sort?
And what would he be?
Anon, I'm looking directly into your eyes and shaking your hand. It is always MerMay in our hearts!
Devil Eyes Eclipse would be a tiger shark mer! He is large with long fins and a long tail. He has a light-yellow underbelly with currant red skin and striking dark stripes across his entire body. His teeth are terrifyingly distinct with terribly sharp, pronounced serrations. He can locate prey (or mer Y/N) with electroreceptors which allows him to detect electric fields, including the weak electrical impulses generated by his prey. Oh, and did I mention he's a solitary, nocturnal hunter?
Since I'm already here, I'll toss in Devil Eyes Sun and Moon mers as well!
Moon is a blue shark mer. He prefers cool waters and is generally lethargic, but he can move very quickly. He has long fins and a long tail just like his brother Eclipse but is slightly smaller. His skin is midnight blue with small spots of baby blue while his underside is white. He's a cold-blooded mer and has a unique sense of smell which he uses to avoid other mers and keep him and Sun safe while they wait for Eclipse. He's also memorized Mer Y/N's sense and is still deciding whether he likes how pretty you smell. (He grows anxious whenever he smells your blood, blood on Eclipse, or both at once.)
Sun is a shortfin mako shark. He's the same size as Moon but slightly smaller than Eclipse with long fins (despite taking after a shortfin) and a long tail. He possesses a brilliant yellow color on top and a white underside. He's very agile and swift which makes him an incredibly fast swimmer, and he can leap to extreme heights out of the water. He maintains a body temperature that is warmer than the surrounding waters which he has used on the occasion to keep mer Y/N warm in the cold sea. He doesn't do well sitting tight in one spot and will often venture out to scout and scan the area for dangers or watch for Eclipse coming back to them.

Oh, I have an idea for a Mermay! If you would like to write it: merformers Megatron being tangled in a net or something and the waves threw him on the beach and he can't go back to water. When the (gn) reader finds him he's scared that they will use his vulnerable moment to hurt him but they go like: "Wow! You're gorgeous! Oh! And you need my help!" And they help untangle him and roll him back to the sea. What do you think?
Absolutely! Mermay may have passed but I'll still be answering these asks because I'm slow, so don't worry if you left any but I haven't answered yet! Also feel free to leave more as it turns out I really like writing merbots!
Apologies for the low writing volume as of late, the hits just keep on coming, and with my area of the country taking wildfire smoke I swear thinking has never felt more difficult...
Megatron was certain he was done for.
He should have known his fate was sealed the moment the harpoon had pierced his side, especially with the weight of a powerful net dragging on his every move and tangling his limbs the more he struggled, but he'd dared to hope he had a chance after managing to swim away. It was only when exhaustion had allowed the waves to force him to shore, his colossal frame crashing against the rocks in a heap so tangled he was effectively immobilized, that he had accepted the inevitable. All the weary old mech could hope for now was to be finished off by the harpoon before he was discovered by those who'd wounded him.
Memories of a long, violent life played before his optics as the waters receded and the stars began to fade with the arrival of the day, the cries of seagulls growing louder as they woke to feed and curiously circled overhead. It wasn't the end he'd wanted, but it also didn't surprise him in the slightest. He'd never been able to find peace, as the scars across his frame could attest, so he could have predicted his spark extinguishing under such painful circumstances. Perhaps the Allspark would finally allow him to rest...
He was so exhausted he barely heard the soft patter of bare feet approaching over stone and sand.Â
You had been hoping to find treasures from the sea along the rocky shore when you'd woken up well before the crack of dawn, but as you approached the massive unknown thing that had washed up overnight, you couldn't have prepared for what greeted the beam from your flashlight. Silver armor tangled within the heaviest netting you'd ever seen was all you could make out at first, but more careful observations revealed a fluke the size of a large tree trunk, atop which you found a massive metal torso with its limbs bound at the front. Your heart hammered as you approached despite your better judgment, some unspeakable instinct telling you that the being before you was in a great deal of pain. You realized you were beholding a real live Thalassicon the moment your light found his face and he opened a pair of brilliant red optics, their pale iris constricting then dilating as they focused on your eyes. Fear reflected between the both of you in equal measure.
When he returned to his prone position as if to surrender without a fight, you caught a wince of pain and a pink glow along his side, which brought your eyes and the flashlight beam to a massive harpoon jutting from behind his arm. Instinctive concern welled up within you, and the haggard breaths from his vents made you certain he was enduring a great deal of agony despite his calm appearance. No amount of common sense could compel you to leave anyone to so much suffering. Coming round to his head, you aimed the flashlight to the ground so as not to strain his optics.Â
"Do you... need help?" you asked uncertainly, not sure how to better phrase the question.Â
He looked back at you, making a sound like a strained scoff of disbelief. His voice rumbled like a heavy wave rolling over a rocky shore as he rested his helm against the stone. "Would it matter if I did?"
"I... think so? Because I can probably help you out a bit." you said, getting a bit more of a hold over yourself. It seemed likely that you could help him escape the net, but you were going to need him to work with you, and even if he'd given up you weren't about to just let him die. Loving the ocean extended to everything living within, and that included Thalassicons, as alien to the planet as they may have been. Reaching for the tiny toolkit you kept in your bag, you were surprised when the production of a small knife made the mech tense in alarm.
"Why are you here? Are more of you coming?" he asked with his full attention on the little blade. It wasn't enough to do more than cause him a minor bit of harm, but as he'd already endured plenty of that, he had no interest in letting blind trust cost him an optic. You seemed surprised and confused by the question, which ironically made him trust that you weren't planning any harm. Humans had never bothered to feign kindness for him anyway.
"There might be more people coming once the sun actually comes up, but I tend to be the only one up this early." you explained, trying to answer the question as best you could. The answer made him tilt his helm and raise a brow, compelling you to elaborate further. "Now's the best time to collect shells. The tide is going out, but no one else is up yet. Anyway, I just got this knife, let me see if it's sharp enough to cut you free."
"You're very trusting. Are you not afraid of my kind?" he asked before you could begin, giving you a bit of pause. The whole situation was odd, but you were quite perplexed as to why this very obviously struggling bot would try so hard to convince you not to help him. It only made you all the more determined to help, but it seemed you would need to convince him not only of your intentions, but to work with you to save himself.Â
"I've never actually met a Thalassicon before, but you all don't seem to start fights with humans most of the time." you said as you put the flashlight down and aimed it over where you'd be working. Dropping to your knees but keeping a final foot of space between you both, you held up your tiny knife and gestured to his tangled limbs, certain you could work at least one free with enough cutting. "If I help you get your arms free, can you pull yourself out of this net?"
Still burnt out on hope, Megatron didn't dare to believe he was really getting out of this situation, but decided he had nothing better to do than play along. Even if you were some kind of government agent playing a long game, it was more interesting to see what your plan was than to wait to bleed to death. Flexing his arms to test the net's resistance, he found them folded against his front but otherwise unharmed, and while he was incapable of reaching the harpoon he had no doubt he could untangle himself if even one limb was freed. "Possibly." he conceded, remaining limp so that you could work.
"Worth a try, then." you said with a bit of inflated confidence, still unable to believe what you had gotten yourself into. Biting your lip and committing to your desire to help, you grabbed a random section of net and began to cut. Straight away you found progress to be definite but slow, the sharp blade taking its sweet time to carve through the reinforced material even as you pushed the sharpened edge down with all of your strength. "Ugh, this might take a second, these are some seriously thick ropes."
"Take all the time you need, I'm certainly not going anywhere." he replied with a sarcastic flop of his fluke against the stones, emphasizing his lack of options. You'd have possibly found it funny were you not carving through the stubborn netting with all of your strength, jaw set tight and brows furrowed in deep concentration as you looked for possible shortcuts. It wasn't like you had all the time in the world to cut him loose. The sun would soon be peeking over the horizon, and when it did you had no doubt that other humans would be coming to the beach, some of whom you couldn't trust not to sound the alarm. Many members of your species looked on his with open fear and boundless hostility.
"Hold on, if I'm able to tear this one... ouch!" you hissed as the knife nicked your palm, compelling on you to suck at the little cut before getting back to work. Your lack of hesitation to push on surprised him even more than your initial offer of aid, and for the first time he dared to believe you might be genuine in your desire to help. He could already feel his arm gaining wiggle room with every sliced rope, the heavy weight around his limbs needing only a little bit more of a reduction before he was confident his strength would prove sufficient to break free. Sweat had begun to bead on your forehead when you gave a growl of frustration and sliced through two more holes to free his arm. "Just one second, I've almost got it... there! Can you help me work your arm out?"
"Yes, one moment." he said, barely hiding the anticipation he couldn't suppress. Still mostly immobilized, he tried to work his arm free with a shift of his shoulders, only to receive a lightning bolt of pain as the harpoon was jostled by the movement. Roaring in agony, he went limp save for a full body shudder of pain, fresh energon flowing down his side.Â
You jumped to help but pulled back when he hissed in instinctive fear, vents coming in hard and fast before the initial burst of pain began to fade and he calmed down. Looking around for potential witnesses with growing concern for the lack of time, you finally settled on the only thing you had resembling a plan, ignoring every bit of common sense you had saying it was a bad idea. "Would it help if that thing came out first?"
"It... it might. But I cannot reach it." he said weakly, once more feeling the urge to lie limp and allow fate to claim him. You'd proven an interesting diversion from his demise, but it was physically impossible for him to free himself. Between the restraint and the agony he felt when trying to move, there was nothing his great strength could do for him, and the steady flow of energon from his wound was taking even that away. Self repair couldn't initiate with the offending projectile still lodged under his armor.
"How deep is it? If it doesn't need too much of a pull, I can probably take it out." you offered, self preservation briefly taking a backseat to concern. It wasn't fair for anyone to suffer like this, and despite the danger you felt compelled to do whatever a squishy human body could to help. The Thalassicon stiffened at the suggestion, compelling you to drop to your knees and talk face to face to convince him you meant no harm. This wasn't something you could attempt without his full cooperation. "Do you trust me to do that?"
Megatron was silent as he eyed you up and down, looking for signs of the betrayal he'd been certain was coming but finding only earnest desperation in your face. It would be foolish to take you up on your offer considering his history with your kind, but with the harpoon scraping his insides during every ventilation, he was compelled once more to accept out of a lack of alternate options. All you could really do was help him, or end him that much quicker.Â
"I cannot leave while it's there, I suppose I have little choice." he muttered bitterly, distrust coloring every word to make it apparent this wasn't a choice he enjoyed. It wasn't an enthusiastic assent, but you took it regardless, stepping back to try and figure out how to best approach the problem when the mech spoke up with far more force. A piercing look from his bright red optics made you flinch with each harsh syllable. "Just be quick about it, and know I will take you with me if you get any ideas."
"Okay. Fair enough. I'll climb on up, just hang tight." you conceded quickly, hands up in a brief gesture of surrender to show you understood. One thrash of his massive tail could easily turn you to paste, so you were equally serious in your promise not to try anything unexpected. Fully aware of his optics watching your every move, you climbed up his shoulder by using the net as a makeshift climbing aid and his armor as handholds, following the trail of bleeding energon until you arrived at his back.
When you stood up to face the harpoon for inspection, you were shocked to find it jutting out as far as you were tall, the heavy metal gleaming even in the darkness as if it was smelted from something unnatural. Ignoring the chill the weapon created in your gut, you angled your phone light to try and get a better idea of how to proceed. The sight of the ragged wound torn into his armor made you flinch in sympathy, and even without medical experience you could tell it had been yanked about as the mech had struggled against his attempted captors. The painful site left you stumped until you realized the roughness of the wound would actually work in your favor. Struggling hadn't just moved the harpoon, it had pulled it most of the way out, far enough that you were confident in your ability to pull it the rest of the way.
"I'll try to remove it as fast as I can, I'm sorry if this hurts." you said as you grabbed the frigid piece of metal, hoping you sounded confident just for his sake. All of him stiffened beneath you, but he made no further movements, remaining silent as you secured your grip and set your feet.Â
"Okay. Here I go!" you announced as you sucked in a breath, clenching your shoulders before you pulled with all of your might. At first you felt nothing but his tremble of pain, which compelled you to square your jaw and lean backwards so your weight could assist, every ounce of your willpower pouring itself into the task at hand. After a few unproductive moments the harpoon slid an inch upwards, compelling you to double down until your knuckles paled and veins throbbed along your skin. The Thalassicon hissed when you felt something under the surface give way, and the weapon popped free of the wound in a single motion that sent you toppling backwards just as the mech arched his frame and roared in pain.
Soft sand met your back as you were thrown clear, the harpoon clattering over the stones as you sat up in a daze to find the mech tearing from the net and standing upright on his tail as he shredded the restraints with a growl and tossed the remains aside. The sudden show of motion was reassuring, but the sight of fresh energon running down his side made you fear you'd only made the situation much worse. "It's bleeding, did I make it worse?!"
Your words seemed to surprise him, almost as if he'd forgotten you were there in the rush, but he turned and gingerly probed the wound with much more freedom of movement than he'd had before. "No... It will clear itself and then my self repair will begin..." he explained, relaxing his mighty shoulders as the fact he'd be okay settled over you both. Now able to see the full extent of his size and strength, you felt even smaller as he dropped back down onto his front to speak to you, expression softening in relief and gratitude as he met your gaze. "Thank you. I would not have survived if that remained in my hide."
"Don't mention it." you replied breathlessly, surprising him once more as you made no attempt to request a reward for your services. Rather, you looked at him with concern, your eyes lingering on his injuries as you picked yourself up off the sand. "Are you... good to go? The beach will probably start to see its first visitors before long."
"I can see myself off. For your own sake, it is best you pretend we didn't meet." he answered quickly, pushing himself along the rocks until he came to the edge. For all of his desire to know more about the most peculiar human he'd ever met, it was better for both of you if he cleared out quickly. There was no telling what his attempted captors would do to those who aided him, and you didn't seem like the type to leave well enough alone even if your life was on the line. Knowing that didn't stop him from hesitating as he planned the best way to drop into the dark water below.
"Oh... okay." you said, unable to keep the disappointment from your voice. You'd come to the beach with the intention of finding some beautiful sea life, and while you'd succeeded, it was still hard to accept this one wouldn't be coming home with you. Unwilling to let him go straight away, you stalled with another glance at his injuries, hoping that even if you didn't see him again you would know he was safe out there. "Are you sure you're okay? That looks really bad."
"I have endured far worse, it will heal." he promised, already planning to seek out the deep sea supplies he knew would help him heal. Compared to what he'd suffered before at the hands of humans and bots alike, this was nothing now that he had the freedom to move and swim. The news made you smile, and his spark was so softened by your continued compassion he couldn't bear to leave without some show of gratitude. "Before I leave, allow me to introduce myself. You can call me Megatron."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Y/N." you replied eagerly, wishing the first tendrils of the sunrise shining over the ocean would give you just a few more minutes. Unable to think of all you wanted to say, you ignored the hurt in your heart to bid him farewell, putting your wishes into words so they might come true. "I hope I can see you again sometime, under better circumstances."
"Perhaps, if fate allows. It would not be in your best interest, however." he replied much more sagely, swinging his tail over the edge but holding on with his upper arms. In the moments before he descended further, the position allowed the two of you to come face to face once more, and it was his turn to smile fondly as you bid him farewell.
"I don't really mind. Safe travels, Megatron."

another mermay post đ§ââïžđ§ââïžđ§ââïžđ§ââïžđ§ââïž hehehehehe
short part two of siren!ghost x sailor!soap
-
In the darkness of the cave, with nothing but the bioluminescent something speckling the damp walls to illuminate the space, Soap isnât sure how much time has passed since Ghostâs departure.
All Soap knows is that heâs cold, wet, and hungry, and has no idea how long heâs been left in this caveâand if thereâs any way out.
He doesnât venture far, not with what little visibility he has, but he feels along the slimy, algae-coated walls for any hidden crevice, any opening, any alcove. When heâs unsuccessful in that regard, a dares to inch toward the water, peering into its dark, murky depths, and wondering just how deep it goes. How deep underwater he is, in this little pocket of air that will most certainly run out.
And if itâs so deep that he couldnât make it back up to the surface on his own.
Soap is curled up against one side of the cave when Ghost reappears, hauling fish, oysters, and tattered, sodden clothing of which Soap could very well guess the origins.
Ghost nudges everything as far up the stone floor as he can without having to push himself out of the water, but Soap never moves to accept. Fear still encases every one of his senses, even if his life had been spared. Even if Ghost said he wouldnât kill him.
âYou canât keep me here, you know. Not forever,â Soap declares shakily, wincing at the echo of his words. Ghost just stares at him, bobbing gently in the abyss of water, those amber eyes now two pitch black holes boring into Soap.
âI canât even⊠how would I even cook and eat the fish? Iâll starve if I donât first run out of air,â Soap continues.
Ghost watches Soap for another long, silent moment. There isnât enough light for Soap to place his expression, but his lack of reply is worrying enough.
âI wonât let that happen,â Ghost eventually says. Thereâs decisiveness to his answer, but in the echoey confines of the cavern, Soap swears thereâs a slight waver in confidence. Like Ghost hadnât thought this completely through, despite the cocksure way he had acted up until this moment.
âIâll need sunlight,â Soap argues weakly. âAnd to be dry.â
Ghost outwardly falters. Soap can imagine a plethora of thoughts and emotions crossing the sirenâs face, all obscured in the dim lighting. Soap waits and waits as silence only stretches again for what are only minutes, but feel like hours.
âThen Iâll find somewhere new,â states Ghost, before sinking back into the water with that same air of mystery as he had the first time.
Soap sighs, careful to fill his lungs minimally, lest he suffocate.
Well, he supposesâmaybe wringing out the old clothes and laying them out could at least make for a somewhat more comfortable place to die, and the oysters might be enough to tie him over as to not make his death nearly as miserable.
Maybe he shouldnât have argued with Ghost in the rowboat. Maybe he should have pretended to be lured in by the female sirensâ song and be put to death far quicker than whatever torture this is, that Ghost has planned.
Dejectedly, Soap squeezes out what excess water he can from the fabric, bunches it up in a pile and lays down on the makeshift pillow. The constant drip, drip, drip makes it impossible to sleep, so instead he just shuts his eyes and listens to the sounds of water lapping the stone floor, waiting for the swish and ripple of a disturbance to mark Ghostâs returnâif there ever would be one in time.

35 / 2.1k / shark merman Price and remora mermaid reader for mermay :)
...
Price isnât stupid. He knows youâve been following him since the early morning as he makes the rounds through his favorite reef. Youâre stealthing poorlyâjust poorly enough that he knows youâre there, but youâre still small enough to dart into the reef every time he tries to get a good look at you.
He's been ignoring you and hoping youâll take the hint to buzz off before he makes you buzz off.
You think youâre getting the hang of sneaking up on him when you turn a corner and lose him. And then heâs sneaking up on you.
You peek around the bright lumps of coral, wondering where heâs gone, when something blots out the sunlight above. You look up to see himâthe long expanse of muscle and bulk on top and the smooth sharkâs tail belowâas he peers down at you.
You stiffen, pressing yourself to the sandy sea floor.
He scans you with his dark eyes to determine just what kind of creature has been following him. Not a threat, decides. Even as a mer. Youâre too small. Too soft. You have no teeth to speak of. How laughable. And a tiny little thing, at that.
You straighten up, watching him circle you. Youâd been looking for an opportunity just like this. Thatâs why you were tailing him. But now that his shrewd gaze is finally on you, you feel exposed.
He takes his time inspecting you. Then he swims a wide arc around you once more and lowers his clawed as if to touch you. You force yourself to stay still, your tail curled under you on the sand.
âYouâve been following me,â he says. Itâs not a question.
âYes.â
Price hooks one of his claws under your chin and pulls your head lightly upwards. You slowly rise as he tilts your chin up until you're suspended in the water in front of him.
"You should be scared of me,â he says.
You settle your own hands on his wrist in contentment. You look less like a meal being evaluated and more like a kitten being scratched under the chin. "Would you like me to be scared?"
He chuckles at your enthusiasm. He knows exactly what this is. You're a remora mer, which means you instinctively seek out and bond with bigger creatures. Even if that creature is an unfriendly shark mer. Surely you must know how dangerous it is to be within his reach?
"You're very big. You must be king of this reef,â you say.
He pauses as the praise washes over him. He knows how intimidating he is, and you should realize you're nothing but small, soft and fragile. But obviously your instincts for fawning and flattery are finely honed.
He can see the way your little self seems to be drawn to him. A remora mer, indeed. He's seen others like you, but they've always avoided him. He could just as easily kill you as he could accept your company.
There is something pitifully adorable about you. The way you tilt your head and expose your throat unwittingly is endearing. He knows itâs because your instincts are leading you to bond with him for the safety he provides. You're too willing.
"Do you lack the common sense to fear an apex predator?" he asks, voice low and amused.
"Yes," you respond obediently.
He can see the way your little body is pressing up to his hand, desperate to get closer. He moves his arm, gently guiding you closer to him. "Good," he rumbles softly before using two claws to stroke down the curve of your neck. "Very good. You're too small to survive my teeth, you know."
"Of course. Much too small. Your teeth are so big and sharp."
"And you're soft and weak. Soft as a piece of kelp, I bet." He gives the tip of your tail a flick, and his eyes glitter as you bob and shake out your tail fin at the touch. Fussy little creature. "You're not very good at what you're supposed to do, little mer."
You open up your eyes. "I'm not?"
"Following me for hours without even trying to ingratiate yourself to me," he growls. "You're supposed to busy yourself with my needs. Not..." He trails off as you tilt up into his touch, almost nuzzling his hand. He gives your forehead a light flick with his claw to make you pay attention. "Acting like some kind of pet."
You quickly smooth yourself down. "Of course. I know that." You dart closer, putting your small hands on his inner arm, his shoulder, his chest, inspecting him. Your fingers glide over him, brushing and scratching and plucking away bits of sea debris and dry skin. Grooming him. "I just thought you might want me to be scared of you first."
Oh. Heâs enjoying this far more than he thought he would. For something so soft, youâre quite bold.
He presses on your hip to turn you slightly as you work, idly inspecting you in return. "Maybe later. Letâs see if youâre worth the effort first." He rests his chin on his other hand to watch you fuss over him. It's been a long time since he had any kind of attention on him. You dart around behind him and busy yourself with his hair next.
He leans into your touch when you start to untangle his hair. "You seem to enjoy this.â
âI do.â
âGood for you,â he drawls. "Are you good for anything else?"
"I'm good for lots of things." You move from his hair down to his tail, trying not to stare.
"Oh?" He reaches up and idly drags the back of his knuckles down your spine and over the fin there. He smirks as your fin flattens with the touch. "Like what?"
"Anything you can think of."
"Anything?" He gives a low rumble in his throat at your words. "Don't go promising favors you can't fulfill, little remora."
"Okay," you chime.
He grabs ahold of your tail fins. "And don't agree with every single thing I say, either. That makes you far too easy to manipulate."
"Yes, sir!"
He rolls his eyes. You really are a pushover. It's like you want him to be cruel to you. He lets go of your tail but twirls his fingers in the tip of your tailfins. "Is it your instincts that are making you so deferential? Or are you just a coward?"
You pretend to think about this for a moment. Then you respond, pleasantly, "Which do you prefer?"
"Mm, so you do have a brain."
"Me? No, surely that can't be. Not a thought in my head, sir. Promise."
He eyes you like a disobedient puppy. You're putting on this fairly convincing act, being a mindless, servile little thing, and it's confusing his instincts to know you're doing a fair bit of manipulation yourself to win his protection.
"Might prefer you a bit more brainless, actually," he says. He nudges the underside of your chin with his knuckle this time instead of his claw, noting how you drop what you were doing to follow the gesture as he guides you out in front of him again. "You're willing to do anything I ask, then? No questions?"
"Yes, sir.â You rest your much smaller body against his forearm again. âAnything.â
He looks down at how you submit willingly to his hand, taking in the sight of your small body pressed up against it. He feels something primal coil in his gut at the display. You let yourself fall under his control so easily. "What if I told you to open your mouth like a goldfish?" He brings his thumb up to your lip. "Would you?"
You open your mouth.
Interesting. He taps your lower lip with the tip of his thumb. "Wide," he murmurs. "Open up wide for me."
You open wider.
"Now bite."
You bite down around the tip of his thumb.
His lips twitch up into a smile at the feeling of you nibbling at him, the little scrape of your teeth. "Good. Harder."
You reposition your grip and chomp down in earnest this time. He grunts. Your teeth are smaller than his, but they're still sharp.
"There you go. Not bad for such a small mouth." He pulls it away, half-expecting you to start hollowing your cheeks on his thumb if he dawdles too long. "Have you ever had to deal with bigger fish?"
"Of course," you chirp. Like it's no big deal.
Price snorts. It's hard to imagine something like you doing anything but darting behind the nearest rock at the first sign of danger. âHow many have you killed?"
"None."
"Right, I'm sure you ask them nicely to leave you alone," he says. "And do they listen?â
"Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't."
"And when they don't, what do you do? Do you fight back? Do you give up?"
"Well..." You wring your hands briefly. "You're going to handle it now, right? So what does it matter?"
"It matters to me." For some reason, the thought of you trying to fight back against a larger fish makes him restless. "You still need to know how to defend yourself."
You frown. "You're not going to do it for me?"
He scoffs, but you're starting to make him feel something close to concern for you. He doesn't know why the thought of you being defenseless irks him so. "Are you really that helpless? Are you really so soft that you just want me to fight all your battles for you?"
"I mean, you're a shark."
He huffs irritably at that, his annoyance with you outweighed by his annoyance with himself for feeling concerned over you. "Do you think I'm going to do everything for you just because I'm bigger and stronger?"
You smile at him, pleased.
Ah. He's the fool suddenly. He grabs you around the waist with just one of his big hands and brings you close, his voice lowering in warning. "Stop smiling, little fish."
"Okay," you chime.
"I told you to stop sounding so bloody agreeable. You make me want to bite you." He lifts you up in front of him to get a clearer look at your face. Your eyes are too wide, your smile is too sweet, your body is too flimsy. It's all infuriating to him. Heâs been roaming the ocean a long time and he's grown comfortably hard and cold. Youâre not changing that. "You have no self-preservation instincts at all, do you? You're just going to get yourself killed one day."
You settle into his hand comfortably. "Maybe so. Can I get you anything else, boss?"
You're hopeless, he decides. With how sweet and docile you are, he feels something clawing at the inside of his chest the longer he holds you.
Instead of answering you, he fits you against his chest, into the crook of his arm. There. Better. He can keep you closer this way without having to look at your silly doe eyes.
âNot now,â he says finally. âMaybe later.â
You lean into the position, tucking into the side of his chest like you're making yourself at home. "Okay, boss."
He canât decide if he likes you calling him that or not. He can feel the way you nestle against him, settling in comfortably and making no effort to resist. You really are too easy to control. Just a little pull and you're molded against his side. He feels you start to smooth down some of his chest scales without even thinking. Grooming him. Nice and clean. Little busybody.
He's not used to being pampered, but feeling the tension start to bleed from his muscles under your touch⊠maybe itâs not so bad. He glances down at you, wondering how you're able to look so contented tucked up against him. His chest rumbles as you scratch near his throat. He lets his muscles relax under your hand.
You're an annoying little thing--too innocent, too naive, too sweet, and he conveniently forgets how capable you are of convincing him of that to win him over--but it's been too damn long since he's allowed himself to be comforted.
Maybe it would be alright to let you stay with him for a little while.

Yan-Poll #13
[Mermay Special Part 3 a/n This is an interactive story, your choice continues it, so choose wisely!]
"I... I need to go home. Now."
Raising a hand to your head, the headache was banging painfully in it. You didn't feel nauseous, didn't have the symptoms of a migraine, but by the gods, it hurt. You could barely look straight, much less think, missing the brief discontent washing over your friend's face as you refused their invitation. But you'd not be lulled away again, following their invitation blindly. That was your last word on the matter.
"[Name], are you alright?" your friend asked, worried, swimming up to you the second you began to hunch over. You didn't fight them as they helped lower you to a soft surface, sitting you down and eventually even laying you down to rest as you couldn't move.Â
"I feel terrible," you confessed, hearing your own slurred words.Â
The word "Fuck," slipped from your friend's mouth, their voice so sharp and agitated that it ripped through the massive headache, causing you to convulse as the pain dragged through you. "Shh, shh," they calmed you, suddenly sounding a lot more nervous than agitated, but you could barely crack one eye open, even when their hand rested over your forehead, spreading a gentle, comforting cold from their palm.Â
"I'll be right back... could be... I will ask..."
You were confused as to why your friend was whispering, but it was your conscience that slipped away as the pain overwhelmed you. How could it have come to this mess, you wondered before you fell into the darkness, hoping everything was alright with you.
»»ââââââââ ⥠ââââââââ««
"What were you thinking?!" was the first thing you heard as you awoke again. The throbbing in your head had subsided, but the confusion weighed heavily on you, exhausting you completely. You were too tired to open your eyes, sighing as you enjoyed the cold waves washing through you instead, pretending to still be asleep to get a few more minutes of calm before facing reality.
"I did what father said! I went out there and found my mate! Why are you so angry with me, mother?!"
"Humans are not mates. We do not lure them back here to let them live, son, and you know it. Their bodies are too weak to withstand the changes."
"Not them!" your friend screamed in frustration, and it made you jump, giving away your state of alertness.Â
Immediately, the cold sensation disappeared, and you were forced to open your eyes as your friend swam to your side, shaking you not-so-gently awake. "How are you feeling?!" they asked, desperation in both their voice and their gaze. "I thought I lost you when you suddenly collapsed."
"What happened?" you croaked, slowly trying to get up when another hand reached up to your shoulder, pushing you back down.Â
"Rest some more. Your body is still experiencing complications from your form change."
Your eyes moved to the other person in the room, her presence unmistakable. The queen's gaze was still as judgemental as it was cold. "You need to leave, human. You cannot bear the changes and will die if you stay here."
The severity of the situation was a little much for your barely awake mind to comprehend. Still, you nodded slowly as her words began making a little more sense when you repeated them over and over in your head.
"That is not true!" your friend suddenly protested. You had believed that for a moment, their mother had convinced everyone that it was better this way, but your friend glared at her defiantly. "I chose my mate because they can withstand the changes. I know it's rare, but I knew they could do it the moment I looked at them! They are special and will allow me to do what my father was incapable of doing with you!"
A moment of hurt flashed through the queen's eyes, but it was gone just as quickly, replaced with anger. "Truly, what a brat you have become. Well, ask your 'mate' what they want. Do they even want to help you unite our people? Merfolk and humans are just too different; there's no way it will ever work."
Her attention shifted to you as she addressed you directly: "What will it be? Do you want me to send you back, or do you want to stay and help my son with his illusion of peace that hasn't worked in a hundred reigns before his?"
"Don't!" your friend hissed, and for the first time, you saw his less human-like side, teeth bared threateningly. It was as if he knew something more than you did, warning his own mother of consequences he didn't need to voice. Your friend quickly returned their attention back to you, their expression softening immediately.Â
"Don't listen to her! She will kill you if you accept her offer. My people used to lure and eat humans all the time, but I will put an end to this. You and me, we can do it! Your body can accept the change, and we can work towards a bigger goal together. You'll never suffer as long as you stay with me; your life will be fulfilling and wonderful, and I will love you unlike any other person ever could. So pleaseâplease don't waste your life by becoming my mother's dinner."
It was all a lot to take in. Your eyes went back and forth between your friend and their parent. Had they not technically kidnapped you here, you wouldn't have such a problem trusting them now, but did you even want the life they were envisioning for you?
"You'll not like what awaits you if you stay, human. Don't make the same mistake that so many have before you," the queen warned you. "You go back, and we'll treat this as if nothing ever happened, I promise."
(Reasoning and discussions welcome! â„)

For mermay: how about merman! Joseph where Y/N finds him on the beach at low tide and when he sees them he freaks out and tries to go NIGERUNDAYOOOO but he's on land and he's just flopping around đ
Absolutely! That's hilarious, you didn't specify whether you wanted yandere or non-yandere, so I made it ambiguous. Enjoy my beautiful mermay enjoyer (you also can be handsome if you want cutie!)â€ïž
Beached
Joseph was often told that his attention seeking behavior would cause him trouble one day. His elders often scolded him for causing currents in the city, startling fish, and wandering too close to the surface. He'd always laugh at them and quip back something clever that made them angrier. Now he realized they might have been right.
It was a simple bet really; Cesear and he were swimming around causing mischief when the topic of the surface came up. "I bet they've got some pretty hot babes on the surface. Ones with two tails instead of one." Joseph sighed dreamily, causing Cesear to scoff. "The women of the land can't compete with the women of the sea." Typical Cesear, so close minded. A smirk appeared on Joseph's face as a "brilliant" idea came to mind. "Oh Cesear, I think that I can find someone more beautiful than all the merfolk in the sea just by the beach." Cesear's kelp green eyes narrowed. "Your next words are 'You bastardo Joseph, you've got yourself a deal!'" Cesear fell for Joseph's ploy. "You bastardo Joseph, you've got yourself a deal!" Joseph shit eating grin was met with shock and anger from the other merman. "You smug sea devil, get back here!" Joseph giggled to himself as he swam from his friend.
Things were going good for Joseph no merfolk noticed Joseph and Cesear sneak towards the surface. Cesear still kept his underwater, like the bloody coward he is. No matter all Joseph has got to do is scope out the land for some hot babes! Swimming closer and ducking his head underwater when he thought someone might be coming, he eagerly spied on the beach to find... NO ONE?! What gives? It was a beautiful morning, sun rising steadily into the sky water at low tide. Low tide... "OH NO!"
You had just woken up and stretched a bit, this was a great place to vacation during the summer. Beautiful town, friendly people, and the sea. White sand for miles around and clear blue ocean water. You love the Mediterranean! Donning a swim shirt and swim trunks and covering that with a light beach cover up, you slipped on your sandals. You rode your bike through the small town that was peacefully asleep, it was pretty early in the morning. Perfect time to have the beach all to yourself. You were ready for another day of tanning, relaxing, and summer fun. You hop off your bike and walk over to the beach humming a tune that was stuck in your head. (Fav song) gets better each time you hear it. Your peace was ruined by someone screaming, oh my god is that person okay? Running to the source of the noise you found a handsome man. He had a mop of wild brown hair and eyes the color of sea glass. He was tall, tan, and muscular and had no legs. Instead, there was a beautiful green fish tail. The man Stopped his loud yelling and violently slapping his tail to look at you. The merman precedes to flop even harder.
Joseph was stuck and while he was an intelligent bastard he also was a cocky one. He wasn't paying attention to the tides and now was flopping around like a fish out of water. Well, he was one but that was beside the point. "Cesear, move your big tail and help me!" The man was met with bubbles. Oh, so that's how that is, Cesear was laughing at his misfortunes. Fake friend! Joseph was too busy cursing the blond traitor that he didn't notice a pair of footsteps quickly approaching him. A light gasp caused his head to snap over to the creator of the noise. A person who was (short/medium/tall) and had (h/l) (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. They were wearing baggy cloth that hid their curves from his curious gaze. He found a two tail... a hot two tail! Crap a two tail! Joseph begins flopping harder than before he needed to get out of here. He heard the two tail speak in a language he could not understand as it franticly approached him. Hell no!
Wack! the powerful green tail smacked you straight in the gut, throwing you onto some sharp seashells thoroughly knocking the wind out of you. You were trying to help but this merman just gut punched you with his tail. He frantically made clicking and chattering noises to something in the water you could not see. Another merperson? That didn't matter right now, what did was getting the merman back into the ocean before other people came. The merman looked to be made of pure muscle so there was no picking him up and approaching him from behind would get you smacked again. Maybe you could get some water over to where you are. You crept around the merman and threw your hands up in a sign of nonaggression towards the frightened brunet. the ocean was further than you thought and you didn't have a bucket to pour water on him. Frustrated you sank your feet into the wet sand causing water to fill in the hole you made in the sand. Bingo!
Joseph was confused as to why the two tail was digging a hole at this time. Is that what two tails do when stressed? He'd have to ask Speedwagon but right now he continued to observe the two tail and keep them a tail length away. Continuing to watch he saw water slowly filling the hole they made as the dug up to where Joseph would be making some sloppy aqueduct. Who knew two tails could be smart? Joseph met the desperate (e/c) that held no malice towards him. He was good at reading people and knew the land dweller was no danger to him and was even trying to help. Joseph began slowly inching towards them and the small saltwater river they were making, their hands looked tired, but they didn't stop, even as sweat began to form on their brow. Joseph felt his heart began beating faster not out of fear but something else. They didn't have to help them and yet they were trying, more than some merfolk ever did for him.
You heard a squeak and a splash coming from behind you the merman enters the watery area you made for him and was pushing you with him towards the ocean. You both landed with a plop in the warm waters of the Mediterranean, salt stinging your eyes as you had not been prepared to go swimming right now. Surfacing you gasped for air as you searched for the merman, only to see the green merman circling you like a shark. Did you just put yourself in danger? Plop the merman's head surfaced from the water a cheeky grin on his face. Face only centimeters from your own, he looked like he was going to kiss you. You blushed as you found him handsome but wasn't expecting this, squeezing your eyes shut and turning you head away from him. Nothing. You opened your eyes to look at the merman who looked at you with lips puckered and squirted salt water into your face. Gross! The mermaid disappeared before you could even yell at him for not only scaring the crap out of you but getting salt water in your mouth. You couldn't help but laugh though as the merman was very playful and you didn't mind the water. That was until you saw your shoes floating away from you.
Joseph swam down to a smirking blond with a big goofy grin on his face. "Well Joseph, did you see a land babe?" Cesear mocked him but Joseph was in too good of a mood to pout. He was so close to you, he could have kissed you! However, kissing was sacred in mermaid culture only to be done with mates. He blushed at the thought of you being his mate. You could swim with him, he could introduce you to Cesear, and he could show you his home! His giddy thoughts were interrupted by the sour taste that came to his mouth when he thought of introducing you to Cesear or any other merfolk. He didn't want to do that, you were too precious for them. With that decided he planned hen he would meet his own little two leg again with Cesear chasing after him.
Sorry if it sucks, I kinda rushed towards the end because I didn't know if you wanted yandere or not, so this was more fluffy. Please feel free to request more this mermay.

Mermay Fic pt1
Ezio always felt bad about the small number of humble gondoliers he sent into the canale for a swim, he really did. He did try to apologize the first couple of times but honestly, he just did not have the time for it anymore. He usually did just toss them coins if anybody did walk up to him all angry the next day at the square.
And it truly was not that big of a deal, It's just waterâŠÂ
âOh did you hear-â
Ezio picked up his freshly repaired boots from the apprentice of the cobbler when trained ears picked up on the two ladies gossiping about the latest in Venice.
âNo wait he did not! The assassin?!â
Who? Did what? What did he get up to this time? Ezio nodded at the shop as he slowly walked closer getting into the earshot more to get the full story on his new supposed doingsâŠ
âYes Yes! Elena saw it too! He was docked as he always is around those times, you know that man likes a scheduleâ The other woman nodded agreeing and Ezio held a sigh.
Stalling aren't we⊠get to the juicy bits woman. His foot tapped on the stone ground
âand suddenly the brute jumps down on him and throws him into the canale, doesn't even yell sorry or look back, just takes off with the gondola!â
The other woman did an offended gasp as Ezio finally also clocked what they were talking about
âAnd I normally like the assassin guy too! So I was shocked ofcourse, everyone was-â
He tilted his head remembering yesterday's run-ins, Yes maybe he did throw another one into the Canales torrents as he was on a chase but what was the big deal this time, if he got legs he can swim, it's not like the gondolier was-
âI mean what kind of a sane man throws a paralyzed man into the water and steals his boat!â
OhâŠ
The gondolier was Paralyzed...
Nothing is True everything is allowed so might as well toss a disabled towner into the water Ezio!
âWell was he all right? Is he injured?âÂ
Yes was he? Ezio wanted to rush out to the woman and shake her asking if his victim was okay, what was his address and would he accept a sorry in payments.
âThankfully no, but he refused to let us help him outâŠâ The woman's tone took a curious tune. âIt was weird but he was probably embarrassed and didn't want people to see⊠you knowâŠâ The hand gesture around the legs told what she meant and it only drew another stake at Ezios heart so Ezio took it as his cue to leave and look for the man.
Well⊠He fucked around too much and now has to beg this old dude for forgivenessâŠ.Â
He looked at the new boots in his hand⊠can't even give him these, great fuckup Ezio. Leo will laugh his ass off about this.
â------------------
It took him two days to track the man down, turns out when half the city is traversable via water everyone tries being a gondolier at least once, but this one has made a name for himself, which did not help Ezios conscience because all everyone said was;
âOh, that man? yes, you can find him around here when the sun is up midday, very sweet and strange that one, always jokes with the others, nice to talk to.â
âOh you mean him? Such a nice fella always chats to me about my dayâŠâ
âParalyzed GondolierâŠ. ah you mean the nice one that hangs around here all day?â
So needless to say Ezio was sweating a bit but he was here to make things right!
His purse was heavier than usual today with an apology gift added into it, he walked the middle district scanning over any water he could see as he passed the bridges, he came to an opening of a small courtyard where people were sitting under the tree on benches and some street kids were playing around. It was one of those areas that had access to the water via stairs and docks. It was one of the busier yards since it had few shops around it too.
Ezio realized this was, in fact, the route he took 3 days ago, hopefully finding him will be easy, there can't be that many disabled gondola rowers. His eyes moved over the body of water, there were 5 gondoliers docked near just hanging about, 2 of them sitting on a dock near their boats. He tried to look for an old weak man but the one he did notice did not show up on his eagle vision at all.Â
When the same man also got up to stretch Ezio erased him off of possible victims.
Then he caught a flicker of gold light and his eyes zeroed into a golden bright figure on the left,
He blinked turning the vision on and off a couple of times...
âAh cazzo, just my luckâ
He didn't almost drown an old man who couldn't walk, he almost drowned one of the most handsome gondoliers in Venice.

fish out of water | jjk
pairing: human!jungkook x mermaid!reader summary: your routined excursion to the above world is at risk thanks to the harmless-looking stranger who might still be a threat to the discovery of your existence. rating: nc-17 | word count: 1k genre/au: fluff, modern retelling, fantasy, dark comedy, little mermaid!au warnings/content: alcohol consumption, threats (playfully tho), near-death experience
a/n: to celebrate the official release of the Little Mermaid live-action movie and MerMay, hereâs a small thing from me ig cuz i canât just let this jungkook go. poll who atp sorry yâall i wrote this when i was missing him sm đ
The moon has always enamoured you.
The clouds around it add to the picturesque of what you could have painted if artworks can be perfectly stored underwater.
Watching it from above water is unparalleled when youâre observing it from underneath. You bask in the moonlight, occasionally closing your eyes and imagining being able to moon gaze like this every night. That would be impossible including staying here any longer as it is strictly forbidden for you to be out here in the open on land.
It doesnât matter as long as no one discovers you hereâ
âomg, a giant fish!â
You whirled right away in the direction of the loud voice, spotting its owner, a man walking sluggishly by the seashore towards you. Panic rushes through you at the prospect of being identified, your mind prompting you to think of possible ways of escape.
The position you are currently, sitting on top of the huge rocks unfortunately doesnât give you much of an advantage to attack him unless he comes near. And he was slurring words that youâre trying to decipher. He doesnât appear to have any weapons with him except for that strange transparent object in one hand with gold liquor in it.Â
You ready your stance the closer he gets, bracing both your clawed hands in front of you. He might use that object or the liquor against you. One of your advantages is the lack of enough light where the scenario wouldâve been different had it been during the day. You move your tail behind you so he wonât be able to see it further.Â
âoh wait, youâre pretty for a fish!â the strange man starts to giggle as a points at you and youâre in confusion.
Did he just compliment you? Arenât humans supposed to be scared of your kind?
âiâm not a fishâ you declare calmly despite the wave of anxiousness bubbling in you. He may be just a human but he could also be acting all innocent, a perfect bait to lure you to his other comrades that may be hiding somewhere.
Waiting to capture you.
Your father warned you of how vicious humans are so you must not trust him even though he seemed harmless. Youâve looked around and a bit of relief washes through you when you found no one on the shore aside from him. Still, you mustnât lower your guard.Â
You continue to observe the man as he continues to walk where youâre sitting by the rocks. Only then you can see his face more clearly. Heâs pleasing to look at, different from the humans that youâve seen in fishing boats before. Wearing only a plain white shirt, its top buttons are undone which makes him more dashing than he already is.Â
The simple loose pants heâs wearing perk your interest as you quite canât figure out what material it was made of yet.Â
âi must be drunk holy shit, iâm talking to a fishâ he continues to laugh, smiling brightly while looking up to the sky and youâre getting warier of what he is planning.
Youâre running out of time and this man is wasting it. You promised the others that you wonât be that long. You wouldnât want them to come back and find you in a company of a human boy.
Heâs right in front of you now, drinking whatâs left of the strange object heâs holding before placing it on the dark sand. Youâre surprised that he was able to stand up again, wobbly, sure, but it did not affect how heâs acting around you.
Quite the opposite for you the closer he gets.
Your eyes couldnât help but follow his right arm, adorned with dark markings, some with colour but you couldnât see the rest of it since he rolled his sleeves up until his elbows.
âhow can i be a fish and talk to you like this?â
The man stares at you with furrowed eyebrows, confusion evident on his face. Only then that you notice his hair, slightly damp curly that almost reaches the base of his neck.
âi can see your tailâ he responds with a bit of clarity now, still confused but his curiosity overpowered it. Heâs now trying to see behind the rocks, to see more of what the moonlight can show. He looks adorable, tip-toeing to get a glimpse of your tail and youâre tempted to show him just so he can leave you alone.
Fully revealing yourself could scare him or not but youâll try. It worked with others before along with many threats. If not, then you could kill him though he doesnât look like he can harm you in this state.
âi could eat you, but i'm full alreadyâ you hiss, trying to sound threatening and staring him down with a glare but the man starts laughing hysterically instead.
"i'm supposed to be eating you since you're a fish" he wheezes as he shakes his head, enough for him to lose his balance.
You catch him just in time and you have no idea why you did. You couldâve just let him fall on the rocks in front of you and call your sisters for another feast but you couldnât find it in you to let it happen.
âdamn..strong..fishâ he slurred before losing consciousness in your arms. In a strange way, you find yourself smiling at the strangerâs remarks. He might be well-built but he weighs like nothing to you with your inhuman strength.
Up close, his rosy cheeks are glowing and youâre unable to avoid touching them, feeling the warmth coursing through you. Albeit your bodyâs much colder than humans, it piques your interest that he feels warmer than the others youâve held before. You can also smell the bitter scent wafting off of him, leading you to think that all this was because of that golden liquor that he consumed.
You eye the glassy object, looking back and forth between him and it on what to do next. But his face distracts you again, noticing the pieces of jewelry on him. A silver necklace is peeking out underneath his shirt and only his right ear has silver bands on them. Youâve also noticed a ring-like silver metal attached to the right corner of his lower lip.
Is this a new way of putting on jewelry?Â
It seems that you have plenty of things to catch up on and this man might help you with it.Â
But will he when once wakes up or will he turn out just like the others?Â
e/n: i have big plans for this one but weâll see lmao. lmk what you think tho!
