Honestly, art by Tanya Anor is my favorite witcher art ever. I adore how rough she makes that universe feel. Most artists make women seem perfect, her women are still attractive but acc look like real people. And let's not even talk about her book accuracy. She adds her own unique touch while keeping descriptions present. Even if she wasn't a witcher artist, she'd be on my top 10 bcz i simply adore her artstyle. Her designs are often not game inspired (although she does draw game versions too) and that's smthg i really appreciate. I would buy 1000 books with her illustrations. The moment i see her style, i yell "YUP! THAT'S WITCHER!!" Bcz it fits the universe so well 😭🙏🏻

Like, this is my favorite drawing ever!!!? Her style of shading is very hard to replicate (trust, i tried) and her designs are filled with extremely small details.

This one takes the cake tho. Idek where to begin. Some designs are bit game inspired probably, bit imo they are still much different and maybe superior. LIKE LOOK AT THE DETAILS AAAH. The flower pattern on their tunics and look at that mwtal texture!!! as someone who doesnt know how to draw metal, idk whether i should hate her or admire her, or both 😭🙏🏻. But my favorite thing ab the drawing is Ciri's scar, often they draw it as a very hot scratch, while Sapkowski proclaimed times and times again how ugly it is. and she captures the horror of her scar perfectly!

Ofc, i could go on and on ab the designs, but i think enough is said, whole lifetime is not enough to explain my love for her art.

I also wont go too far into her artistic skills, bcz everyone is aware of it. Her composition and contrast is mesmerizing. I like my art, but damn i wish i understood tones as good as she does. I barely achive the elementary four tones, she achives over dozen.

Anyway, i just wanted to say that cuz ive been looking at it entire morning. She is basically my biggest inspiration and i used her designs at the beginning of my witcher obsession (i never liked game designs enough, sry 🙏🏻)

im not very good at explaining things but eem ill try !!

i feel like one of the biggest things is the sort of sketchy/messy vibe .. i use a super tiny brush ('digital brush' on ibis (its a premade lol) on size 1-2) and kind of scribble scrabble sometimes .. i also dont do lineart, i cant be bothered to do allat so i just clean up my sketch using an eraser !

i also stay away from using curves and instead try to use as many straight edges as possible if that makes sense .. also arbitrary lines in the drawing are a must . i think thats one of my fav parts of drawing :)

when it comes to coloring and rendering, i start by adding a darker, slightly more saturated color for shading, then blend it out with a midtone, do thr same for lighting, and then i add details !!

ive also been told that my usage of warmer tones is recognizable, and i achieve that by playing around with the 'color balance' filter on ibis until im happy with the results

for shading, i use a dark color (anywhere between blue and red, depending on the character and environment) for shading and a light yellowy color for lighting on an overlay layer ! then (also on overlay) i use those colors to add more arbitrary lines and scribbles

here i kind of tried to break down my sketching process, idk if it makes sense or not tho😓

my current artstyle is the result of six or so years of constant drawing and growing and experimenting !! experimenting with your artstyle is a huge factor in allowing it to evolve as well as for you to find what works the best .

referencing/figuring out how specific artists that you like achieve their artstyles is super good for experimenting !! in 2021 i was a huge fan of bellasaurus and animatedwings, so i referenced their art a lot, picked out what i liked, and incorporated it into my own style :)

i didnt include humans in this because im not very confident when drawing them and still have to heavily reference things lol .. maybe another day

overall just have fun and go with whatever feels right ! below ill attach some of my art pieces broken down if you want to use them as a reference

Heyo do you want to see some unfinished art? This was initially started back on October 27th because I thought “hey it would be fun to make a clothing design that would work for the Puzzle Park/WOTFI 2024 episodes!” and I wasn’t that biggest fan of Puzzles getting his lower limbs removed lol. Glad that he got them long legs back in the end! Buuuut kinda lost interest in finishing the details, kept promise myself I’d get back to working on it “the next day”, and proceeded to avoid touching the canvas for rest of the month :P

I think something about the lineless artstyle wasn’t agreeing with my brain. Or the colored outlines for Meggy + overly detailed hair texturing. Also I drew his legs too short again DAMMIT *slams head into desk*

Kinda same situation for this artwork here! Once again, I attempted to revise the design (mostly for Puzzles) and I was even going to watercolor the scenery—but then the page got some water splotch on it. And I tried to dry it off as quickly as possible OH BOY THAT WAS A MISTAKE!! I should have just let it absorb and dry naturally because now there’s an ugly noticeable tear << immediately rage quit after that point jksjspk

Hi! First of all, I love both your au and your artstyle. But anyway, I had a little silly idea; you don't have to draw a comic for that or even respond to this ask or anything.

So recently I rewatched the Boss Baby movie. I don't know if you know it, but after watching it I thought of Foop and Ymmit from your au. Maybe I'm insane, but I found a few small similarities between them and the main characters from the movie (the biggest one is in the movie the younger brother is technically more like an older brother because he's more mature and while Foop looks like the younger one, he's technically older). So what if Ymmit and Foop were forced to work together on some mission or something and even though they are not a fan of each other, they slowly start to bond and get to know each other a little better. And then something happens and one of them is in danger or something, and the other starts to worry because they actually started to like one another and they both realize that dang, I actually like having him as a brother and I want him to be in my life.

Again, just a silly idea, I know it probably goes against many things and headcannons in your au. You don't have to respond to this rambling 😅

i didn't watch boss baby, but Foop and Ymmit were forced to do chores around the castle together by anti-wanda when growing up, so they talked and bonded while doing them.

I wanted to ask, what media inspired you to create your artstyle and characters?

And also, how did you come up with names for your character stories, Abnorms and ManicMD ?

1) Tbh, it's hard for me to name any one thing that inspired my art style. It's something that I developed over the course of my art journey and can't quite pin down! But some of my biggest inspirations when i started were early 2000s cartoons and don bluth/disney movies. I also tend to find inspiration in my art mutuals :3

2) I came up with those names by deciding what the main thing of the story was. Abnorms being about "abnormal" creatures or situations, the supernatural, aliens, monsters, yada yada, and ManicMD being about a mad scientist, a "mad MD".

I like to try and give as much information in titles as possible without giving anything away. Unicorn's Dogma, another series I'm making, is titled that bc it delves into the "dogma" of the unicorns, and that tells you a story in itself!
