Mirrors.

There was nothing worse, honestly.

He'd been glad his Sunshine just assumed he couldn't see his reflection since they couldn't. Lying to them is something he wouldn't have had it in him to do, although he certainly didn't want to tell them the truth either.

He could see his reflection.

Although reflections were supposed to show yourself, were they not?

He couldn't tell which one of them was the real him.

The real him...

Who was the real him?

Surely this was, wasn't it?

Blue hair, red face paint, primary colored clothing and a chipper tune.

But if this truely was him, then why didn't his reflection, well, reflect that?

Brown hair, tired eyes, and those tattoos he eventually wished he'd never gotten.

None of that was him, no. At least, not anymore. It was quite clear when he looked down at himself and saw that he was how he wanted to be.

So why was he the one staring back at him? Why did his reflection not reflect him?!

Is this not good enough?

Sunny Day Jack was perfect.

Perfect bod, perfect friend, perfect at keeping his life together, perfect lover-

He could go on about how perfect he was.

It was quite the struggle to get here, so why shouldn't he feel a little bit proud about how perfect he'd become?

Yet here I am, still like this.

Sure his past may be a bit more... Imperfect. But we all make mistakes at some point! As long as we learn from them and do better, that's what matters most. That's how one becomes perfect.

The perfect spouse, the perfect defender, the perfect caregiver, the perfect actor-

It's clear he's not too happy with himself. With who he was. He tried so hard to change, to be perfect- for everyone else's sake! Say the right things, don't do the wrong things, and bury, bury, bury, bury, BURY everything that wasn't relevant to his new life anymore.

The reality he was a ghost had not escaped him.

His Sunshine was the only one who could see him, hear him, touch him...

If being unseen and unheard and unfelt by the world at large wasn't the qualities of a ghost, then what was it?

He cherished the bond he had with his beloved Sunshine. They gave him reprieve from that torment, proved that perhaps God had heard his prayers and sent someone to save him-

Saving that wouldn't need done if it wasn't for-

A gloved hand rested on the mirror. His reflection looked like it was crying. Was he crying too? He couldn't tell.

And quite frankly, the anger beginning to bubble up didn't care.

If it wasn't for a couple stupid mistakes, this mess wouldn't have ever been a thing! Why couldn't you have just stopped and thought about things for once in your life?! Maybe actually thought about the future and what you could have done to help it?! No, no no no no no! Making a statement right then and there was all that mattered. Yes, nothing truly important mattered until you had already messed everything up, and left it to a different, actually mature version of yourself to fix-

"Jaaack? Where aaaare youuuu?~"

A familiar voice carried from the bedroom.

It snapped Jack out of his thoughts and he froze, a fist he did not realize he had raised mere inches from shattering the mirror. His reflection stared back him, hollow and desperate.

He looked away, embarrassed. Slowly, he lowered his arms and relaxed his grip.

What a silly reaction, shattering a mirror wouldn't do anything but-

-but bury things yet again.

Perhaps it best some things stay buried.

"I'm in the living room Sunspot!~"

His voice rang out, matching his beloved's sing-song tune.

Already he was doing his best to forget what almost transpired. Moving quickly to the couch and plastering on his signature smile, his mind took heed and moved onto more important matters.

Such as looking up to see his bright little ray of Sunshine emerging from the hallway with a blanket in one hand and a dvd in the other.

"Movie night?"

He patted the open spot next to him.

"I'd love nothing more."

Not gonna lie, this was actually p hard to answer. I’m honestly proud of any piece I get done, especially any full body, full color, full background pieces, and I refuse to let myself out-right hate anything that I draw in general now-a-days, unfinished or no. I draw for fun, always have, so I try not to put too much worry on how good something looks so long as it gets my idea across in a way that I like, or that I tried?? (And ik being proud of a piece doesnt have to tie into what the end result looks like, im just covering that base) I looked through all of my recent digital art on my ipad(that i’ve had what, 3-4 years at this point?) and found myself about just as happy with each finished piece-

-Except one. There is one piece that I forget about constantly but I’m honestly super proud of the amount of effort it had put in to reach the end result. It probably sees a number of glances infrequently(due to my sporatic activity on said blog) but isnt posted to this blog’s art tag.

It’s the blog banner I drew for my @thelostguardianau fic, of the(at the time) whole cast in the au. You can find the post to reblog it from here but i’m also adding it below for reference. (* and honestly I’ll mention every other art piece in this au posted to it’s blog stands at having this same proudness, as each individual characters complicated design fed into this big banner, each one having a giant set of uniquely drawn wings, complex body markings, and unique clothing and features. And I would not have been able to complete this banner without having those singular character chart pieces finished first, except for Thomas’s design, who has yet to be posted for ✨reasons✨)

This fricking Banner was and still is(for now, *wink*) the most ambitious piece I’ve managed to finish. It took me so long, my wrist hated me, my ipad hated me, my ipencil hated me, medibang hated me, this piece pushed the limits of the poor app. Every time I try and open this piece up on the app it takes a solid couple seconds to open, save, and close.

From sketching to lining every single character, to having to uniquely match up Their Wing Sizes and Heights, because Guardians are fucking Tall, so Wing size and Height size was hell to calculate and portray. Why, you might ask?

Because I was limited to the proportions that would actually fit into a tumblr mobile banner. Which, funfact, is much smaller than you’d think!

I had to make sure they’d all fit, wings and all. And they didnt fcking want to. But I made it fit, because I wanted a full body + wings cast banner and goddamn it that was going to happen. And I did. And I lost a fuck-off amount of detail-space for it.

Coloring it wasn’t exactly difficult, but I will once again point back to this app hating this piece and it draining my battery because of it. I work in layers. My lineart will have 5-6 different layers in color before I combine them and set the hue to black, but I still keep my lineart seperate in that each character has their own lineart, and the background lineart is seperate.

I had their lineart, and probably still do, seperated into Seven different layers, one per character, each one w/ an extra masking layer for their wing glow. Each character got their own folder for colors, and had multiple layers for each colored section: clothing, skin, skin blush + eye whites, hair, wings, body markings, marking glow. And then there was the background layers, and the glowing affects, ect. The whole piece stands at having about 80 total layers having been used over the course of making it.

So yeah, Medibang does not like this piece when I try to open it. xD

But really, setting aside fighting and babying technology thats being pushed close to its limit, the real pride comes from the fact that this piece has Seven fully colored, near-full body characters drawn, all touching and interacting and accurate to the scale that I made. It is the most amount of characters in one piece that I’ve ever drawn, colored, and finished, and I’m pretty fricken proud of it.

Which makes it all the more daunting that said banner is going to get an upgrade, because it’s a Character Cast Banner after all, and its going to have four more fully designed and full winged characters added into it.

And by upgrade, I mean I get to redraw the whole dang thing. Because I gotta rearrange ✨everyone’s✨ positions. And at this point, the only way thats possible is by starting over.

This is my first, o f f i c i a l tumblr fanfic, so woo! I ' m f c k i n g t e r r i f i e d -anyway, this is a FatGum x reader, because Tai is the cutest thing and I don't see enough of him. I'll be doing some of my personal favorites from the anime, ranging from popular to underrated characters, so I hope anyone who comes across this weird mess enjoys it! Warnings: Mild cursing, also make sure to brush your teeth afterwards, cause this will give you a toothache from the sweetness-

A box. Wait, what? Where did it come from? Who put it there? Is this a prank? It smells like…Takoyaki?!? Fatgum rushed to his desk, opening the pastel purple box sat neatly on his desk. ¨Yes! Morning snack!¨ He cheered whilst fist pumping the air. Fatgum reached to take a piece of the octopus goodness, but hesitated, for just a moment. His smile faltered, and he took a second to evaluate, his hero instincts shining through. Poison? Intruder? Stalker? However, the mouth-watering smell of his newly-acquired treat pulled him sultrily out of his cautiousness, and Fatgum gave in to the temptation, devouring the takoyaki in mere seconds. He made sure to be careful with the box though. ¨Ill ask Kirishima or Amajiki if they gave me this. Those kids are just the greatest!¨ He bounded out of his office in a rush to excitedly badger at his two son- interns, but he soon found that neither knew what he was talking about. They had just barely entered the agency for the first time since yesterday, so they had no part in this adorable gift Fat had received. Fatgum was slightly put off, but resolved that he would ask everyone at his agency personally, determined to find and thank the angel who gave him this thoughtful present. 

Its been about a month since then. After a week of daily takoyaki, Fatgum was wondering if he´d be destined to live a life of having takoyaki for breakfast when he opened his office door and froze. Fatgum had expected to see that same lavender(he checked) shaded box of goodness, but he was greeted with a rolled up bag sitting on top of a box, but it was a different shade of purple. His seemingly permanent smile grew tenfold and he giddily bounced over to his desk to investigate the new items he had been gifted. He opened the bag first, and took out a cup. Coffee. He was stunned. Not by the fact that his ´secret admirer´ had brought him coffee, nor was it the fact that they could have gotten it wrong. No, he was floored by the logo on the coffee cup. It was the logo of the small cat cafe down the street. Fatgum asks Kirishima and Amajiki to visit there almost everyday, though he insists its just for the coffee. Fatgum went there once to get himself a coffee his two children were busy, and he hasn´t gone back since. Not because the establishment was bad, no it adorable. The pastel color scheme, the friendly felines who endlessly entertained him, even the mere scent of the cafe brings a smile to his face, but for one reason, and one reason only.

You.

You, the one who owned, managed, and staffed the humble cafe all on your own. Fatgum could barely manage to keep professional, for he had no idea where he was supposed to direct his eyes. Your precious attitude, the excitable gleam in your eyes, your contagiously cute giggle, and your blush, oh the blush! Fatgum had told you a joke to ease his own nerves, but the waver in his tone and ok-at-best comedy skills only proved to make him even more anxious. That was, until he heard you laugh. You didn´t just laugh, no, because he had just found your weakness. Simple, honest, puns. You attempted to cover your mouth so you could save your dignity, but resistance was futile when you were hit with such a bad joke from such a cute man. You doubled over in pure, jovial, laughter, and at that moment, you thanked every Greek god that has ever lived that you two were the only ones occupying the shop at that moment. Well, besides all the spectating kittens. You were so caught up in that stupidly funny pun, you failed to notice that you were the only one laughing. 

Fatgum was speechless. Normally, hes the one laughing at his own jokes, but here you were, laughing. Not only that, but your laugh was heavenly. It was music to his ears, and he could hardly stomach the rush of feelings that had hit him. Embarrassment, anxiety, calm, joy, happiness, lo-…

Love? Did he love you?

He wanted to say no immediately, there was no way. But his rushing mind stopped once he heard you snort. You covered your mouth, hoping he hadn´t heard such an embarrassing sound come from you, but it only made you laugh harder, and soon you were snorting with every other breath. He couldn´t breathe. You snort when you laugh too hard??? His head was spinning with every wave of feeling that enveloped him. He felt like he was floating. He was on cloud nine simply from the fact that he could reduce you to giggles and snorts like this. He was so overwhelmed, yet relieved by your reaction. You had bashfully admitted to him that you had trouble opening up to others, and you had found it remarkable how easily he had broken down your walls as if they were nothing more than a breeze. He wondered if this meant he ad a chance. Talking with you was effortless, and brought him a level of joy he had never experienced. It made him wonder what else you two would get up to. His mind flashed with endless scenarios, you appearing in every single one. You on a date, shy smiles and ´accidentally´ bumping into each other every two seconds. You at his house, leaning into his chest as you stuff your faces with popcorn, hypnotized by a movie. You underneath him, your small frame dwarfed by his larger one, breathless and writhing. You in his office, sitting on his lap and snuggling him as he finishes up some paperwork.

He wanted you, with every thing he had. He wanted to have you, have fun with you, do things with you, go places with you. He wanted you childishly, so you two could bounce around the world together with reckless abandon. He wanted you selfishly, to pull you close where everyone could see, so no one would mistake that you were his. He wanted you devilishly, giving you endless kisses and lovebites, just to see you squirm and blush. He wanted you innocently, to sing karaoke at the top of his lungs with you, and do scavenger hunts for your anniversaries. He wanted you longingly, knowing that he could power through the villains, the mountains of paperwork, all of lifes bullshit, just so he could be greeted by your smile, the smile of a tried-and-true angel.

After that day, Fatgum never went back to your store. He knew that if he saw you again, with that illegally cute maid outfit and those entrancing eyes, he would be compelled to get down on one knee and ask for your hand in marriage, which is a level of mortification hes not ready for. The day after his return, he was so stunned by the mark your presence left on his very being that he began to notice that almost everything reminded him of you. The fluffiness of the clouds brought to his mind the cute way the frill on your outfit bounced in excitement. The soft shades of blues and purples at nighttime reminded him of the perfect lighting of your cafe as he passed it late at night. Hell, his assistants cat reminded him of you, and he noted every one of these things for his own sake, but he never realized just how loud he gets when hes in his own head. His muttering got louder and more distracting, to the point that he would daydream at every possible moment, dreamily sighing your name like a mantra. Taishiro Toyomistu, an established pro-hero, a fully functioning adult, had been reverted back to a love-sick teenage boy. It was almost pathetic, yet he made up for by how excited even the mention of you made him. It piqued his interns interests, and they decided to take matters into their own hands.

Amajiki was currently rethinking his entire life. His decisions, his friendships, his entire existence was being heavily reevaluated. How did he let Kirishima talk him into this? His underclassman who he thought was just beginning to understand what boundaries are, had somehow, by some absolutely-mystical-means, convinced him to hide in his mentors cabinet to watch for some mystery person leaving snacks for him. He couldve been training, he couldve been eating, hell, he couldve even been talking with Mirio and Nejire, but no. Here he was, cramped between a shelf and crates of paperwork, staking out someone who he doesnt know, and hoping that he wont have to wait for too long stuck in this position. He was about to adjust himself to leave the cabinet and forget this whole plan, when the office door creaked open, the annoyingly loud squeeeak making the person wince as they continued to open it. Amajiki froze, barely containing his squeak of fear as he watched in awe as the door opened but...n-no one was there???

Amajiki blinked, wondering if was just a stray breeze, or some ghostly apparition, which brought tears of terror to his precious eyes from the mere thought. He blinked his tears away hastily, and looked back to reassure himself that no one was there, and even if they were, they were probably friendly. Or, at the very least, he could overpower anyone with relative ease, but he choked on his own reassurance. One second, there was no one, the next, there was you. You, the girl from the cafe, had just appeared out of thin air! You were the one leaving the snacks for Fatgum! Amajiki gawked as you set down the periwinkle box of cupcakes, along with the bag that contained his mentors coffee, brewed to perfection and made with so much love that he could feel it from his hiding spot. He stayed as still as possible, silently spectating as you arranged the snacks neatly while humming a sweet tune, as if you were in the comfort of your own home. You decided that you had adjusted the box by .1% enough times, and you smiled warmly at the box, before jumping at the sound of Fatgum's voice, laughing joyously at something while steadily getting closer to the office you both were in. You panicked and ran behind the door, closing it fully before he got too close, so as not to seem suspicious. Amajiki had blinked only once, and then you were gone again, and Fatgum had opened the door, bringing the operation to a screeching halt. When Amajiki reported back to Kirishima, he realayed back what he had witnessed to an excitable Kirishima, who jumped for joy when he heard that it was you. 

¨I knew it!¨ Kirishima exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. He had guessed beforehand that you were the one leaving such a heart-warming gift for his mentor, and now his next meal was paid for, which he was very happy about.

Fatgum was accompanying Kirishima and Amajiki to his favorite restaurant after a surprisingly peaceful patrol, and they knew they had to tell him then, when they had a peaceful moment to relax. So, they told him.

¨Hey Fat, I just wanted to let you know that…¨ Kirishima started, looking over at Fatgum from his menu, but his sentence was soon forgotten. He, and Amajiki, were staring incredulously at Fatgum, who was currently trying to disappear into his jacket. ¨F-fatgum?¨ Amajiki asked shakily. ¨Whats w-wrong? A-a-are there villains here?!¨ He looked around in alarm, but there were no immediate threats in sight. What had shaken their fearless mentor up so severely? Fatgum simply shook his head, and laid his forehead down on the cool table in hopes of soothing his burning face. Kirishima and Amajiki looked at Fatgum, then to each other in confusion. They both shrugged and went to comfort him when they heard a giggle that caught their attention. Normally that wouldn’t matter at a time like this, but that giggle triggered something in Fatgum and the most obvious shiver went down his spine at the sound. Amajiki, who was across the booth from Fat and Kirishima peered from around his seat to see who it was and gasped. He looked back at Fatgum, then mouthed to Kirishima ¨Its the girl from the cafe!¨ Kirishima gaped, standing up to get a better look. Sure enough, there you were, chatting with a friend who worked the reception booth at the establishment. You were there for your weekly shipment of leftover supplies from the restaurant that you could use for your sweets, but Fatgum didnt know that. All Fatgum could think of is how embarrassing it would be if you saw him cowering like a child in your mere presence. But even then, he couldnt get over how absolutely stunning you looked in casual clothes. He was thoroughly surprised at the fact that you werent already up and married when he met you, because you were simultaneously everything he wanted and needed, and not at all what he was expecting. You were funny, smart, and cute, but he knew there were worlds of things hiding behind your bright eyes. You were perfect. You were everything. You were-

You were right next to him, poking his arm. You were blushing almost as fiercely as him, for multiple reasons. 1. you were right next to someone who instantly caught your heart in his excessively large hands as soon as you met him, and you were poking him. 2. His two interns were staring you down so intensely that you began to wonder if you ever should have walked over in the first place. and 3. is he sick or not?!? You just wanted to make sure hes ok, and maybe kinda possibly ask him why he hasnt visited the shop in a while. But it doesnt seem like thats gonna happen. You kept your voice down because you knew that if a commotion happened that you would actually be sick from fright, but you couldnt help the worry that bubbled in your gut at the sight of him.

On the other hand, Fatgum was just about ready to fucking combust. He wanted to look up, he wanted to see your soft, caring features and the look of concern that was undoubtedly on your face, but he knew impulse would  overtake him. He barely managed to keep from making a fool of himself in front of you and everyone who knew him, and he felt backed into a corner. His mind was racing, and he couldnt even feel his heart beating anymore. His breath was getting heavy, but he barely noticed it. He was driving himself mad, slowly devolving into a panic that he didnt know was enveloping him, nor did he know how to get out of it. All he could think of was you, how disgusted you would be by him if he proposed to you, how you would walk away from him if he said the wrong thing. He wanted you, but he cant have you, and he doesn't know what to-

¨Taishiro!¨ you exclaimed, no longer worried about making a scene. You wrenched his head up from the table and pressed his forehead against yours. He stared wordlessly at you, his thoughts going silent for just a moment, and that was all you needed. ¨Taishiro, look at me, ok? You're ok. I've got you.¨ You spoke softly to him, phrases that you're soothing voice spoke to him. Things he could only imagine from his wildest dreams. His breathing slowed as he slowly came back to his senses, forgetting all about his panic in favor of taking in you. He made no effort to move, because he was completely content on being this close to you forever. He was astonished by you, how you could calm his mind and steal his heart all at once, but the thing he couldnt draw away from was your eyes. They held no pity, however in it's place was the light of experience. You held him not because you pitied him, but because you knew his fear, and wanted to take it away, if only for a moment. He couldnt help but tear up at the genuineness in your gaze, the gaze that you never broke, not even for a second. You had grabbed his arm as he sunk, pulling him back up, and encouraging him to let you help him. You knew what it felt like to be stuck with no one to help, so you told him to relax, let himself be helped just this once, all without any words. All you needed was to look into his eyes and he could understand everything you tried so desperately to convey to him for months. You lost control of your filter as you soothed him, letting slip how much you missed him and his goofy smile, and how undeniably happy he made you. You brought him onto his feet and carried him up, and as you unknowingly whispered "That was when I knew that I loved you", he could see the bright glowing light that enveloped you. You really were an angel. He could see your halo, your soft wings, but overall he saw your heavenly smile, one that begged him to respond, as you were losing confidence at an alarming rate. At that moment, he broke into the brightest, cutest, and dorkiest grin you had ever witnessed, and it melted your heart all over again. He leaped up in a flash, and before you knew it, he had you bridalstyle in his arms with dizzying speed. You squealed in fear, but relaxed as you saw him gaze down at you lovingly. You smiled back shyly, and buried your face in his chest when you could hear the restaurant goers cheering at the display, He carried you out of the restaurant in a valiant display, and his remark as you both exited made the cheers of the onlookers sound deafening, and it drove your blush all the way down to your ears in shock.

Its late and I cant sleep so this is a long update because Its Been A Second

It might be obvious by now but I do want to clarify that i ended up chickening out of the sorority tank before it even began so all of the ladies ended up in their own tanks

Yuna ate most of the shrimp i gave her but a few found shelter in the filter and a few baby scrimplets hid out in the monte carlo. All the shrimps (with the exception of like 4 that are with Colossus to see how that goes) are in the 20 with Daud since apparently his Rage doesnt apply to these ones

Mindy arrived! Uh. Alive, yes... healthy? Not. Really. Shes very alert, super responsive and eats ravenously when i do give her a few pellets. However, shes's really swollen, pineconey scales, and laying at the bottom of her box when she doesnt need air or food. Im pretty sure its dropsy or something similar which is. Disappointing. I have her in a breeder box with a leaf rest stuck to the side so she can rest closer to the top if she wants. I have her on kanaplex as of now but its been... awhile and while she doesnt seem to have gotten better she also doesnt seem to have gotten worse. Im not sure how much longer I want to watch her because it seems cruel to let her go on like this, the fact that she hasnt lost any energy at all since ive gotten her gives me hope? Like all of my fish know that the water tap means food. She is just as energetic as emily is just without the mobility.

Work on the 65 is. Slow. Painful. What i saved in money i am more than making up for in labor. There is silicone bits and sand all through carpet in the fishroom but its off my bedroom floor at least and the carpet makes for a better workspace than hardwood anyway. Thinking im going to ask my lfs if they can get replacement rims for me but if not ill have to order them myself. The bottom rim was totally bowed in the front, sand caught between it and the silicone and the glass and it was cracked in several places anyway so its not like it could have been salvaged. the top rim is fine though, and with the trouble its giving me to get off... i might just leave it be.

In the meantime ive been trawling the local craigslist ads and found... a homemade co2 rig for $200 which took an HOUR drive both ways so that was uh. Fun. Just gotta find a place nearby to get it filled and replace the airline on it and she's good to go. I ALSO found uh. Another. 65. And a stand! And the guy ended up only asking $80 for it! Which was also. Another 2 hours of driving lmao.

Shortly after that my roomate also hauled off to a craigslist deal and i went along to help him move things, also because the guy had some smaller tanks on the cheap. I got out with 2 2.6gals, 2 5gals, assorted sponge filters, 2 bags of Very Nice substrate for $20 a bag and... a sizeable scab on my arm from having Ate Shit down this dude's weird steps.

Currently introducing kirin to billie just to maybe see if that is doable, since mindy is uh. Yknow. And because i have these nice nasty 2.6s now that are great for bbies

So thats the angels and the khullis in the new 65 (totaling 6 now since i stole rescued them out of R's tank since we havent seen him in like 2 months) and the 30 is now uh. Mollies, unexpectedly.

Had a lovely round of die offs. Some of which include all but one of my oldest mollies, the largest of my angels, and lizzie and blue. Its been A Time. Most of these stem from some hard spikes in the 30 after i went a little too hard during an all day round of tank cleaning

Drac is lapsed back into looking half dead after shredding his fins Again so that's fun.

Speaking of, Dracula x blue's fry are getting big and theyre enjoying their new 2.6 and sponge filter upgrade, i think theyre maybe about a month old now? I cant be sure but i think i can tell which ones are gonna take which coloration. Im super excited to see for certain since they werent really uh. Conventionally produced i guess.

Hello! I'm FluffleFeather, I am Nonbinary and go by It/Its, Ze/Zir, or They/Them.

My Fursona- Sock, is a Goat whos face was Torn Off, by whom I wont reveal yet.

They go by They/Them or It/Its and are Genderless.

They wear a sort of reptilian like mask, to hide their face, if you were to remove it however, the face would simply appear to be covered by a thick shadow.

They are dark gray in coloration with a lighter gray underbelly and their mask is a Very light Gray(almost white). They appear to have a bite taken out of the Left? Ear. For more, see the Ref sheet.

They like flowers, bubblegum(even though they cant have it) and they LOVE music boxes.

They dislike being called "Socksy", have a very mild disliking of cacti, but they absolutely HATE when people pull their ears, it hurts!

Okay so soulmate au right?

Janus has a big splotch of a hand on the side of his face, and that plus his natural sarcastic demeanor his fellow middle school kids end up bullying him, because it looks like janus’s own soulmate hated him enough to slap him, and the teachers (With their own prejudice) ignore the bullying

Janus grows up to kind of hate his soulmate, trying to wall himself up because he doesn't want to grow even slightly fond of someone who hated him that much and caused him so much hurt

So time skip of him not getting close to anyone besides an emo guy named virgil and he’s in college

And he lives in the dorms with a roommate, this roommate is named roman, their a loud but sweet and pretty considerate theater major, and by the second month of Janus living in the dorm he gets a crush on this roman,

but hey, its not like he’ll ever tell roman about it,

So things continue into the months, and things are fine, roman to Janus’s relief had quickly found out Janus wasn't the biggest fan of physical touch (which isn't the whole truth but he appreciated it nonetheless) so Janus didn't have to awkwardly decline excited high fives or hugs anymore so he didn't have to see the disappointed look roman gave when roman thought Janus stopped looking

And on roman’s side he’s also had a crush on Janus, which is why he looks so absolutely dejected when declined even a high five, but he would die before doing anything that makes Janus even the slightest uncomfortable so he instead goes to his best friends, Patton and Logan, and rambles about the small interaction janus and roman had that day. Patton offers hugs and Logan always just sighs, grateful that him and Remy were platonic soulmates so Logan never had to dealing with those kinds of feelings,

And for a while its routine, Janus and roman get home, if the other one is there they might watch a show or just get their work done, then later janus might scream into his pillow after roman’s left to (unbeknownst to him) ramble about how silky soft janus’s voice is,

But the key word is for a while, because one day while janus is out shopping for food because he has more self preservation then to eat top ramen for every meal no matter how easy it is, he sees one of the kids who used to bully him, or at least that's who he thinks it is, because he didn't get a good look since he bolted from parking lot not a second after getting the smallest glimpse, flight pulsing through his veins so quickly as he hurriedly ran back to the dorm groceries in tow.

So after a bit he did get to the dorm and When he does he just kind of drops off the groceries onto the floor before running into his room and slamming the door, sliding down the wall to try and attempt to breathe as he keeps touching and itching the soul marked skin,

But unbeknownst to him roman hadn't gone to one of his classes that day meaning they were home, meaning he had heard the slam and also the hiccups and sobs.

So like roman doesnt want to intrude but he’s really worried because in the seven months of living with janus he’s never once heard janus cry, so he’s like standing outside the door, nervous that he might make janus somehow feel worse

But like eventually he’s just like “I’m a prince! I gotta help the person in distress!” so he quietly knocks and immediately janus is silent, terrified he had been caught crying, and once again feeling like he was in middle school no matter how many walls he’s built up

But after a couple minutes of pure silence and janus repressing his tears he realized he should respond to roman’s knock, and he was gonna tell them he was fine and to go away but he knows no one would believe it and virgil had talked to him about ‘repressing feelings’

So all that added up makes his mouth make a decision before his brain and he just kinda scoots out of the way of the door and mumbles “you can come in”

So roman does and he’s quickly distressed by janus’s state but they go to try and sit but then get an idea and bolt back to their room to grab something before coming back and plopping down a stuffed animal for janus that patton had given roman, because they didn't want to break boundaries but they knew janus needed a hug

So he plops the stuffy into janus’s lap which surprises janus but he quickly understand and wraps his arms around it tightly,

Roman is happy that it's been accepted and continues “what happened?” he tries before adding “you don't have to tell me but my friend says telling people helps sometimes”

And janus is stuck between a rock and a hard place because he likes roman and roman’s never even spared a glance at the soulmark, just looking at him and they’ve never mocked him, but he’s terrified.

So after another minute he just mumbles into the stuffed animal “saw someone mean” without going into too much detail but still tears start pouring once again

Roman is frantic, not knowing what to do besides mutter words of encouragement like patton and logan sometimes do when he’s nervous about going onto stage at the community theater, so he’s just trying his best but it doesn't seem to help much, janus is hunching into himself even more and roman can't do anything-

And then they ask a question “can i touch you?”

And janus despite himself nods slowly

And the roman leans forward and cups janus’s cheek in his hand, carefully wiping away some tears from janus’s eye, and then blinking in surprise because right as he’s forgotten about soulmates, his palmside of their hand is suddenly a beautiful pastel yellow color and suddenly janus’s face is a brilliant red,

And as he retreats his hand to look at it, janus just hunches his shoulders, not knowing why roman drew away but sure it's somehow his fault.

But then roman looks practically starry-eyed as he stares at his hand and janus’s confusion grows infinitely more,

Then Slowly roman turns his head to focus on janus again before just carefully offering their hand, and janus, confused but wanting something to hold onto, does gingerly hold onto it.

And roman is just beaming and janus has no clue why until his eyes finally process a slight change.

Roman’s hand is yellow

Roman’s soul mark is yellow and janus was sure it wasn't before.

Suddenly his mind makes a connection

First touch + activated soulmark = soulmate.

He freezes; he was soul mates with roman? How? Roman was amazing? And roman somehow seems okay with that?

Before he has a chance to spiral (for a different reason this time) roman just throws his arms around him ecstatically because !!!they just found his soulmate!!! And it's janus!!!

And like janus is kind of overwhelmed by the touch but his mind is also so happy, so he just melts into the touch and tries wrapping his arms around roman in return, and though its not entirely successful their both just like “!!!”

And then roman- while grinning broadly just goes “can i pick you up?” and janus- kind of thinking its a joke goes in his most teasing voice “sure” and then suddenly he’s off the ground and being carried like a princess and roman is bringing him to the living room so they can sit down on this couch, the whole time grinning and janus is just trying not to fall.

Then janus is plopped securely on the couch along with Roman.

And he’s just raising a questioning eyebrow at roman, haven already forgotten the reason he had been sobbing and instead  just focusing on Roman’s beautiful hazel eyes

Roman smiles softly at him and with the softest voice they say “I guess you're my soulmate then..  I wasn’t expecting this to be honest“

Janus hums and in the most teasing voice he can manage (which is a bit strained) he goes “you disappointed?”

And Roman looks almost offended as he answers “of course not! I’m simply stating I didn’t expect to be graced with you as a soulmate!” “Graced?” “Well of course!!! I don’t know much about you but I already know you're absolutely wonderful!”

And Janus just rolls his eyes in an attempt to hide the blush the ignited in his cheeks before focusing on clumsily pulling out his phone from his pocket and looking at his face

And then suddenly his breath hitches because people said it was gonna be a mark of hatred and it was gonna look awful, but as he finally looks at his now activated soulmark all he can think of is how beautiful it is, with just the beautiful red and the knowledgeable it wasn’t created out of hate

So he ends up just pushing himself a bit closer to Roman so he can rest his head on him

And after a moment he smirks and goes“I think I’m graced to be your soulmate too” and even though the words are slightly teasing Roman can instantly tell their ever so genuine

So he smiled.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER CHOICE/PERKS: 

about character advice u should level everyone up and try their perks out, your main wont depend on the perks (as u will unlock all perks for everyone else) but rather if u can rly “play well” in the characters model. I recommend nea and claudette for beginners as nea is a stealth-aligned character (specifically the perk “urban evasion” that lets you crouch faster) and claudette is one for teamwork but also can heal urself. (perk is called self care) but in the end you can choose whoever just looks good to u and learn theri perks. make sure to not get too dependant on one perk and learn to adjust to any situation

honestly u wont have a lot of perks at the beginning, mostly the one of ur character and the genreal ones available to all survivors. a very good perk is “spinechill”- a perk that will give u a lot of insight on when the killer is going into ur direction and a good way tosee if he is still following you when you Are running away.

ABOUT THE ITEMS:

save up the purple colored items, like the purple flashlight. ESPECIALLY the purple flashlight. if you are a beginner and dont know how to deal with a flashlight yet its good to save them up and use the green and yellow flashlights instead to practice and by the time u become level 50 (and are about to prestige to prestige I) u will feel more secure and testing+playing around wtih the flashlight

honestly? I only use my purple flashlight wtih a white ward (an offering that prevents you from losing ur item PLUS addons when you die) I cant handle to get tunneled and lose a good item!! they rly are rare keep that in mind

ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY ITSELF: 

work on gens thats the main objective and what will get u out, if someone JUST got hooked and hasnt like lost half of the hooked bar (the yellow bar underneath the survivors name) theyre still in “stage 1″ and u can work on the gen/try to finish it up before they get to “stage 2″.lets say you get unhooked and u were on stage 1, then you get hooked again. you get just put on stage 2 and just have to struggle while your teammates come to save you.now lets say you get unhooked and you were on stage 2, if you get downed and hooked youre fully dead. so keep that in mind and dont let teammates come to stage 2.

feel the courage to run to the generators that are more in the middle- and think of it that way: by getting the gen done in the middle you basically make the killer take longer to go check all gens. by the time a killer is going to another gen, kicking it and coming back, you can already finish one gen at one side.

you dont have to crouch around if the killer isnt near you (heartbeat wise) you can run, gameplay changes when you playagainst a myers, pig or ghostface (or any killers wiht a tinier terror radius) bc you wont hear the heartbeat that shows that hteyre near. 

ABOUT LOOPING:

looping is when you make the killer follow you around one obstacle, dont throw the pallet down if the killer is A: not close enough and B: youre not injured. pallet efficiency will make your gameplay and the one of ur teammates easier.

when you get chased by the killer around like jungle gyms (multiple walls wiwth like one window and one pallet), always look behind you to seeif the killer is still after you and not already going to the other side so you walk right into him. 

when the killer actually breaks a pallet that you dropped, take the time and immedaitely book it to the next jungle gym/out of sight. if you were not injured and the killer no longer can see you, stop running and sneak somewhere to hide- wait for the killer to come by and look around and then leave: run to the other side then. 

ABOUT GETTING HOOKED:

when you get hooked, DONT attempt to escape. there is a 4% escape chance. as long as youre not cowsIAM (who is KNOWN for unhooking himself all the time somehow) you wont have much luck. you can attempt to escape if thers rly no other way though. 

ABOUT PLAYING AGAINST SPECIFIC KILLERS:

NURSE if she blinks and is about to teleport to you, run to her so she already teleports too far away 

HAGcrouch over her traps to not trigger them. if you get unhooked and the hag put traps around, immediately crouch the moment u get on the ground and sneak away.counter perk: urban evasion

THE SPIRITlets say the spirit suddenly stopped running after you- shes most likely in her phase power and about to teleport to you. if you are not injured immediately stop running and normally walk somewhere out of sight and hide. the spirit relies on scratch marks AND the grunts of paint the player gives.if you are in front of a pallet and the spirit is on the other side just standing still WALK AWAY dont walk over the pallet there are spirits who “fake phase” so they just stand there and grab you when you walk over.counter perk: iron will

MYERSrun away and always try to break line of sight so he cant stalk you. when you loop him just crouch when he tries to stalk you so he cant see your modelcounter perk: spinechill

HILLBILLYrun around obstacles so he more likely runs into the obstacles than you so you dont get immediately chainsawed downcounter perk: sprint burst

THE HUNTRESS IM STUPID. THIS IS NOT GHOSTFACEif you are looping her and are at the pallet, and you see her raise her arm to throw a hatchet- keep running. the pallet drop animation doesnt make u invincible and the animation is locked so she can easily hit you with the hatchet. KEEP RUNNNIIIING counter perk: not spinechill this rly does nothing for u

TRAPPERif the trapper is playing, always look around for traps. they are almost always at pallet spots etc. if you trigger a trap either to disarm it or u walk into it- the killer gets a notification and will most likely return to it. avoid the place in general.

PLAGUEdont cleanse, if you cleanse urself in one of teh devotional water..things Idk you basically “corrupt it” and when she gets to it, she can get insta down attacks. u dont want that. it sucks either way since you will have teh broken status effect (youre injured and cant be healed up) but ykno. 

WRAITHif you flashlight him (just point the flashlight at him) when hes using his invisible power- he will get stunned :) be careful doing this they get easily mad and facecamp u either that or Im just that hated

DEATHSLINGERdont run ina  straight line just do curves and keep an eye on him when hes chasing you so that when he starts aiming you start running “chaoitcally” so he has a harder time to aim & hit you 

DOCTORwhen you are shocked and on any madness level, there might come up “fake doctor visions” that are just the model of the doctor looking at you. its not the killer himself just an illusion- and you should always stay on the move bc the killer can also see the illusion, know that somewhere is there, and imediately go to check it out. counter perk: calm spirit

CANNIBALdisconnect its not worth it (jk u get a penalty if u do disconnect.)

FREDDYwake urself up always byusing the time clocks, waking eachother up will at one point take way too long.counter perk: object of obsession

LEGIONloop him and try to avoid getting hit. outrunning him with speed perks is always good so he cant hit you. this is the dumbest tip so far. dont drop pallets too soon as he is able to vault them like you are. try to stun them when dropping the pallet if theyre close enoughcounter perk: sprint burst, lithe 

THE PIGthe pig is most likely always trying to sneak up on you so always make sure to keep ur surroundings in check. the moment you hear a ..groan? u will know what I mean- immediately run as she was about to attack you and has a light sprint animation.counter perk: spinechill, sprint burst

i honestly wanted to give gearbox some slack and try my best to like this game bc i know people had probably unfairly high expectations for this game given all the build up, but they really just kept letting me down in everything but the graphics

said this before but overall, the characters are all Quite lackluster

^^ tyreen and troy included. adding the word "bitch" to every sentence does not automatically make it funnier

that being said, i super love their backstory + relationship with typhon/nekofeyo-whatever

the character designs are equally boring. moxxi was the only one who got a real improvement imo. lilith and maya are okay. rhys...i dont think i have to explain. lia...i dislike her hair; the black felt like it balanced out her design better and the white streak was interesting and cool but full white just looks bad tbh. zer0 feels less sleek and more bulky which doesnt fit him much. tina lost her pretty color palette and cute outfit. where are all the bright pretty color palettes in general???? there are other colors besides brown and black???? use them?????

ending of pre-sequel: “you will need all the vault hunters you can get” me: “ooh does that mean all the vh’s from previous games are back? i can’t wait to see everyone meet each other! :D” bl3: only nine of them come back, 3 of them die, the rest are involved in maybe one mission at most

boss fights. super. boring. and tedious. i mean this could be partly because i was playing on ps4 which made it extra not fun but if the only reason the fight is difficult is because they have a lot of health...it's not fun or challenging. i want fights like handsome jack with interesting mechanics. i want fights like angel with emotional impact. i want fights like the pre-sequel final boss that i forgot the name of with variation that isnt just "now they have an attack that shines bright lights in ur eyes, covers the whole arena, and can knock you down in one hit im looking at you traunt and killavolt". tyreens fight was the only one that i somewhat enjoyed because of this. all the others were just like "ughhhh again?"

im really enjoying melee amara playstyle. taking out badass enemies in four hits is my jam. this is just my fallout 4 playthrough all over again babey heck yea

typhon just wanted to be a good dad!!! he called tyreen starlight which is adorable!!! he did the best he could and tyreen hated him for it!!! i don’t blame either of them for that tbh, it makes sense from both their perspectives. tyreen definitely should have been more understanding, but she’s a dick so :/ (not saying this is a writing flaw, just a character flaw)

hammerlock needs higher standards in men but i really appreciate the undeniably in-your-face "fuck you" to all gamer dudes

i really. hate. how little the player character seems to matter in the story. in pre-sequel the vh's all had unique dialogue AND npcs would respond, sometimes even with character-specific lines. even when it was the same across vh's, it still felt like the npcs were interacting and speaking directly to them. the player character felt like a character of their own, rather than just a vessel for the player to do quests and kill enemies with or an errand runner for the important characters. i thought that was the direction they were going in with bl3 too but this just feels like bl2 only worse. there’s a separation again between you and the story and it feels like you’re just watching things happen. now ur not just a silent protagonist, but instead your a speaking protagonist who gets completely ignored. whats the point of including unique dialogue if it's not even acknowledged beyond an "uh-huh, moving on"?

sometimes the logic just feels kinda dumb. the twins killed/disabled maya and lilith in a heartbeat, they can literally disintegrate the most powerful beings in the universe, but the vault hunters? absolutely not. they must fight them for 40 minutes and then die.

after the fight with troy, no one even touched tyreen. there's no way they could have thought "yup she's definitely dead, no need to shoot her in the head or anything just to make sure. we didn't do anything to even hurt her, we just assumed." turns out she's 100% alive and gets up to start the apocalypse. who'da thunk! i know they wanted the end to seem more dramatic but it just seems stupid that they could have stopped tyreen like 5 missions earlier had they even the slightest bit of common sense.

lilith was one of the biggest threats to tyreen and troy's whole plan. of course they should leave her alive and simply steal her powers. let's kill the monk siren instead.

i know they didn't include this to give all players a fair experience instead of favoring sirens, but it kinda sucks playing a siren character and it's just completely ignored outside of ur action skill. tyreen and troy are sapping siren powers left and right, but they choose to leave you with yours. when you enter the eridian place with typhon tannis starts glowing because it has "something to do with sirens". what about the one standing right next to her? this applies to bl2 as well...jack i would willingly charge ur vault key for u pls why do u take lilith instead :'(

oh yeah speaking of tannis! i LOVE that she got angels powers. for some reason it just makes me really happy. maybe it's bc i think it's sweet that part of angel survived. maybe it's because it makes for cool fanart. maybe it's just cool. idk. also like that we got a solid explanation of what angel's powers were (influence over technology). i always thought her having control over it in bl2 might've been cuz it was hyperion tech and she had access to it same as she had access to the satellite from bl1. it wasn't super clear since it seemed like she could also materialize things like the ammo during her fight.

that also reminds me: all the dramatic reveals in this game felt kinda badly done.

the very first one with zer0/katagawa. like the whole time i was walking around looking for him i was trying to think why he might've turned/something must have happened to him or rhys. everyone was saying it was undeniably zer0. i finally meet him and take one look at his bright ass maliwan armor and its like. really. you couldnt have made it anymore obvious that thats not zer0. and then his helmet gets knocked off and surprise! it's not him. i totally didnt already figure that out with one glance 10 seconds ago. (maybe even earlier when you got glimpses of him around the building but i always missed it cuz i was looking at the fish tanks n shit)

also the tannis reveal. she was speaking to me in the same way that only known siren characters could. weird unexplained things were happening and seemed to be related to tannis. i wonder if she's a siren? surprise! she's a siren.

tyreen and troy knew about the great vault through some unknown means. typhon was talking about having a son and a daughter who he told stories about the great vault. typhon calls tyreen his daughter a while later and lilith acts surprised like honey ur a little slow, i figured that out several lines ago.

basically i'm not saying they were so obvious that i knew from the beginning of the game; i only figured them out a little before they were outright stated. but it was enough that it kinda ruined the effect and the characters acting surprised only when it was blatantly spelled out for them just made it annoying.

i feel like most of this is pretty negative, but i don’t mean that i hate the game and was miserable playing it. it was honestly okay...like i said i wanted to like it, but gearbox hates me specifically and killed/ruined all my faves just to spite me sooo...*waves hand back and forth in a sort of “ehhh” gesture*. i think my opinion on bl games from most to least fav would be: tftbl, bltps, bl2, bl3, and bl1. so it’s not the worst, but deeefinitely not one of my faves. i mean jack’s not in it (or if he is he doesn’t have a big role) so it’s already at a huge disadvantage. the ending was ok, it was all dramatic n stuff and it kinda makes sense i guess, but it was just about as okay as the rest of the game really. i don’t hate it but it’s not great either yknow?

😳! HAHA im on my way to work rn so i cant indulge in a nice full color response like i wanna do, but later on at the desk i can reply to this again w some sketches :0

It started w me wanting to see Gladio in dreads bc theyre Nice and my dad started up the process to get them again about a year ago; like maybe younger gladio would have really thin braids at first bc its less ‘commitment’ but like, as hes training and running around with a busy schedule, the time between getting the braids, keeping up w them, and having to get them unbraided was Too Much Work so he just shaves it all off.

THEN i thought of him beginning to work on his dreads right before the roadtrip so like, for like a year he has the lil baby nubs hes been twisting up and i about died 😩✨he still keeps the sides shaved up until hes 24/25, where he decides to let them grow and even out the tips when they finally get long enough. My dad had his dreads on the thinner side and he was METICULOUS about the upkeep so they grew very fast and very strong, down to the crack of his ass lmao and while i would love to draw gladio w dreads of similar length, logically it would be hell. When its that long you get headaches (which is why my dad cut them off a couple years back), and like, in actual fights hairpulling is a legitimate tactic 😂 he just keeps it down to his shoulders for convenience

Noctis has either twists or super thin dreads that barely brush his shoulders, i cant decide. But they do wave in his face Alot and its fun thinking of him shaking his head for some reason and absolutely whipping his own damn face 😩 them shits is a Lethal Weapon. His dad helped him do his own twists for years when he was younger, and i like to think of Regis having his own dreads:> Hes got the nice gold and silver bands on some of his locks, and older!noctis adopts this as well post dawn. (Alternative is loose curls in the same pattern...)The fade flat top, the nice sharp glasses together w the clothes he wears is just an Aesthetic. He looks serious and unapproachable but u know...we know...hes a doof who makes puns and pastries, with a love of tacky coeurl print shirts; hes a sweetheart 💜

like honestly, i have to say this, dont hate me for speaking the truth but bemis did more damage to moon knight series than bendis did. i know, i know, sounds crazy but if u think about it... when bendis took over moon knight title, sure he chucked out all of previous development and just went with his unfunny shtick but at that point, moon knight title wasnt doing so good, wasnt even a blip on comic radar. bendis brought in new readers and although it pains me to say this, he kept the title somewhat relevant (not bc of his writing, hell no, it was just a matter of his name being attached to the project)

bemis came in in a completely different situation, moon knight title has NEVER BEEN AS STRONG AS IT WAS IN 2014-2017, like. both of its vols were super critically acclaimed, moon knight appeared in a cartoon for the first time in his history, he popped up in several comic crossovers, he showed up in like every marvel mobile game ever, there were talks of bringing him into the netflix universe etc etc, THE BRAND WAS VERY STRONG. INCREDIBLY STRONG. moon knight’s brand went from ‘uhhh minor character from 80s’ to ‘true comic connoisseurs read moon knight oh yes yes’

and then you know. bemis just demolished everything. and i dont use that word lightly because i get it, i rly do, different writer = different take. except there is something so frustrating about a writer who dismantles the previously established lore and builds his own inferior version rooted in sensationalism and just plain bad writing. 

like bemis couldnt have an easier start when writing moon knight comics but he went and fucked it up anyways and i KNOW the sales must have dropped, actually let me fucking check huh!

what does this blue color mean u might ask. it means that i took a screencap of the website’s background because bemis’ mk title didnt even enter the top 100 selling comics of that month. and this is just a year later. 2017 - mk comic has the 78th spot. 2018, same month - mk comic doesnt even enter the top 100 selling comics, we don’t know if its the top 101st best selling comic or 120th or 150th etc

and i should clarify that at this point, bemis’ run had its fourth issue out. so u might say this isnt a fair comparison, we should be comparing 10th issue of lemire’s run to 10th issue of bemis’ run so FINE, lets do that, tenth issue of bemis’ run came out in august 2018
