listen to my royjamie playlist here if you want 👨❤️💋👨💞
#love that it starts with the legend of chavo guererro and ends with when kissed the teacher <333 insane arc <33#it’s not meticulous or anything but it is put in a specific order to follow their arc and all the songs are from jamie’s pov :)#royjamie#i also tried really hard for most of the songs to have a slight sport montage feel to them. like rocky and uptempo. besides the slower ones#not rocky as in the movie but the genre. i guess the movie too though lol#also this is very much a work in progress 🙈 the crj song could be replaced with a more fitting happy love song for example but it’ll do lol#also hopelessly devoted to you and i always knew dont really fit 😭#but i needed some buildup to when i kissed the teacher……. i’m really letting on how much effort i put into this lmao. and still not happy:(#ted lasso

assy transformers headcanons and AU crap 2
-Starscream was a nerdy kid, but not that "erm ackshually ☝🤓" nerdy i mean he was actually really good in school or smth and always has a scientific response to a simple ass question but he wasnt that cringe nerdy kid, other sparklers actually enjoyed being around him
-Skywarp makes fun of people for being scared of horror movies then cries in fear in the corner 3 minutes into the movie
-Acidstorm can spew up acid (rocky bfb reference!!1!!!1!) he also does that bluehh sound rocky does too i guess yeah/j
-D-16 and Elita were best friends before they met Orion (dont worry they became one big friend group with Bee)
-Soundwave found out what Spotify was, and has a playlist for each genre he likes with his liked music one being the most bipolar playlist he has. He obviously didnt tell any of the 'cons he found out what Spotify was though
-(Voice Headcanon yippers) Sunstorm's voice is a mix between Your Anxiety Buddy and the lead singer for Cojum Dip (IM SORRY I DONT KNOW WHO IT IS) because Moon Waltz is just beautiful bro
-(my AU ig yeah) since Elita's altmode is a Cybertronian freight train, carrying heavy cargo is her everyday job. So she can also piggyback Bee on her shoulders, pick up Orion and even drag Dee if she asks him to do something and he dont want to do it so uhhh yeah
-Starscream needs glasses, hes farsighted and his field of view is equivalent to seeing the Waitakere Ranges, so everything else is blur if you know what i mean. So no glasses no sight bro
-Orion is near sighted and also needs glasses
-(AU stuff ew) Starscream and Hotshot were childhood best friends yippee!!!
-When the Elite Trine were sparklings, Starscream was the tallest and eldest and Skywarp was basically the baby of the family, being short and sweet and all, and Thundercracker was the kind middle child. Now, Sky's the tallest and the most annoying, arrogant and cocky one, Thundercracker has been through a lot but still kind, Starscream is sadly the shortest now (older-shorter siblings RISE🔥🔥🔥)
-Wheeljack is that really smart but stupid at the same time friend (so is Meg)
-TFP Meg would introduce MLP to the Malterrans like "ok ok, Hashtag, search up 'My Little Pony' on YouTube"
-Megatron was born to be a "OMG HAIIIIIIIIIII GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!! :3333" but forced to be a "wsg"
okay thats all from me bye

I'm so tired of dealing with people who can't acknowledge that an adaptation of one piece of media can be a bad adaptation and still a great piece of media.
I'm gonna start this off by saying, I have not read The Vampire Chronicles so I don't have all the context for the Interview with the Vampire tv show, and I also am aware that I exist in the tumblr echo chamber where iwtv has been trending nearly nonstop for like 2 or 3 weeks with thousands of adoring fans.
But I think the show is a good piece of media, regardless of how good an adaptation it is.
I was talking to my boss about the show because she loves the book series, and she says she won't touch the show with a ten foot pole because every adaptation of The Vampire Chronicles up to this point has been horrible. She complained that all the actors in the show are too old because characters like Armand and Claudia were turned at a much younger age than Assad or Delainey are. She complained that Armand shouldn't be Indian (I'm aware Assad is Bangledeshi, not Indian but Armand was born in Delhi, India in the show) too. She was super concerned with the character accuracy.
And I showed my mom (who has also read the books) the Vampire Lestat s3 trailer, and at the end of it she just kinda awkwardly smiled and said "Oh... They went the Dr. Frank-n-furter route, huh?" in a disappointed voice which I totally don't understand because my mom loves Rocky Horror.
And of course people are allowed their opinions. People are allowed to not like a piece of media. But it just annoys me to no end when people won't give adaptations a chance or just automatically judge them as bad whether they've seen them or not because it doesn't live up to the source material.
The live action Avatar: the Last Airbender show was still a beautiful and gripping show, even if it didn't live up to the animated series. I love the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie so much and think it's a great and fun movie, despite the fact that I've gone on so many angry rants about everything they changed or left out from the book that I can't even count them anymore. There are so many Marvel movies that I enjoy greatly even though it pisses me off from time to time how much they stray from and mix and match the comic storylines. I've read countless reviews about the 2023 romcom Anyone But You that said it's one of the worst Shakespeare adaptations some people have ever seen (it was supposed to be based loosely on Much Ado About Nothing) and I don't even care if it was a bad adaptation of that play because it's such a fun movie regardless!!!
I don't know, I guess I'm rambling at this point, but what I'm trying to say is, there's gray areas when it comes to liking and judging media just like there are in any other area of life. Just because you don't like something or it doesn't live up to your standards doesn't mean it's a bad piece of media. Give it a chance. Be respectful of the ships or scenarios or tropes or genres that your friends and neighbors and coworkers and mutuals like, even if they aren't your cup of tea. No one's gonna like everything, and not everyone can always like one thing, but you can choose to be openminded 💗
#and before y'all come in my notes talking about 'well maybe your mom and boss are just homophobic'#I'm 100% sure that's not the issue#dot says#ranting#adaptations#might delete later

Hello hello hello ☕ is here!
I guess I can ask what's your OCs favorite type of movie, documentary, or series this time. What would they prefer to watch while having some me-time, to have some fun, or resting? Actually I wonder their favorite movie though but I thought that it might be too specific and harder to choose, but of course please mention if they have a specific one/ones! And of course, not all of them has to like watching somethings, some of them might not prefer this kind of action.
How do I deserve these beautiful questions each day 🥰✨️
Isaiah: He likes political thrillers, movies inspired by real events and likes to compare movies from different countries. French and Czech movies just have a completely different flavour than Americans or English. He loves Perfect Strangers (French and Czech version), Masaryk (political thriller based on real events), Cop war (old French version and the new Slovak version). Otherwise he is pretty open to various genres, action or more dialogue heavy, even the occasional romantic comedy. He is the guy you tell your mood to and he will chose the perfect movie for you.
Seline: She loves series and movies both and is super into binging shows. Mainly into dialogue heavy and calm movies, thoughtful and romantic or downright action thrillers or action comedies for fun. Fave movies would be Pride and Prejudice, Last Night, After Sunrise, Becoming Jane, The Mirror has two faces. She also loves animated movies like Spiderverse, Luca, Princess Mononoke and the like.
Matthew: He likes the superhero genre a lot. Marvel movies, Avengers and all that jazz. Thrillers and detective movies are also great and he is the only one who actually enjoys horrors. He likes Avengers Infinity War the best.
Hector: Mafia movies all the way. Godfather is his fave classic lol. He also likes Tarantino movies for all the gore and good fight scenes and epic battles like in Gladiator and Troy.
Arnie: He likes watching movies in general very much. For relaxing he likes sitcoms like Big Bang Theory or Friends, but he loves scifi and mind games movies. His fave is Inception. He is also fan of specific actors like Dicaprio, Wahlberg, Crowe, Hanks, etc. He also watches anything that does well on Netflix, like Yellowstone or Bridgetons just to see what the fuss is about.
Dylan: Into action movies and buddy comedies or cop movies like Rush Hour or Leathal Weapon. Fight cheroegrapies and boxer movies work great, he adores all Rocky movies and sequels.
Rip: If it has fast cars or hired assassins, he loves it. His faves are Ford vs Ferrari, Fast and Furious, Collateral and The Jacakall.
Thank you for the question!!💕

Since it's almost spooky month and your blog reminded me of it, I was hoping if I could tell you a story of mine. (Of course feel free to get rid of this if you don't want to read.)
So when I was about 11 I started wanting to watch scary movies since I HATED anything gorey beforehand. My mom was excited since she really likes horror and wanted to show me the cult classics. Now keep in mind I was 11 and just easing into this genre so we wanted something not too gorey if any at all. My mother also gets super uncomfortable watching anything hinting at sexual relations (Even just dirty jokes). So those two combined cut down about a majority of our options. We spent about 30 minutes to and hour looking till my mom finds something and says.
"Oh, I remember this movie, I think I watched it around your age too. Don't know why it's rated R though." Right before she puts it on.
Want to guess what the movie was? That's right, Rocky Horror Picture Show. I still don't understand how she forgot basically the entire movie, but I still love the film and gained a new found love for Tim Curry.
THAT'S SUCH A HUGE TURN AROUND
From being uncomfortable with any sort of sexual references whatsoever, to watching ROCKY HORROR. I bet that was one heck of a surprise for her LOLLL
I feel like that's the perfect movie to introduce someone to Tim Curry!! IN HIS FULL GLAM 💅 Once you see him, you can never get enough of him :D
#pinkie speakie#TIM CURRY IS MY FAVORITE ACTOR! I was first introduced to him when I was really little and my mom had me watch Clue for the first time#then my lil brain thought “HEY THAT GUY'S IN HOME ALONE 2!”#and thats how MY love for tim curry began!#i love when people come into my inbox to chat thank you for this#rocky horror#tim curry

Kate laughes a bit at the face Ingo makes. "Aren't too into sour flavors? I love sour foods and drinks, especially sour lemonades combined with savory food".
She sips on her drink again as she carefully unwraps her sandwich as well. Kate looks a bit absentmindedly at the table, not really focusing on anything in particular, as she takes a few seconds to think and jog her memory about the last 24 hours.
"Hmm, not really. Nothing I can remember... Right, we were playing a questions game! And I think it's my turn to ask the question. Hmm... What about, favourite movie genre?"
(That's cool. I don't think I had something like that happen to me, thankfully. One time though when I was getting my new laptop years ago, it didn't work properly when it arrived. It kind of just restarted on its own every ten minutes. It was impossible to work with and I have no idea what was wrong, so we returned it immediatelly and ordered a different one. I guess that counts?
I wasn't haha. I was always conditioned to be very careful with items so I never did any of that. But I had an obsession with small items, from glass statuettes to just miniature toys. And also digging up pretty stones in sand and dirt. And generally looking through shelves and drawers in search for something cool. That kind of stuck to me to adulthood. I can't fix anything but I can and will go through your old closet/boxes/whatever and help clean up for free in hopes of digging up something neat. Or will look through a rocky road for pretty rocks (i found a cool ammonite fossil once!) and generally collect different minerals or collect miniature stuff like dollhouse food lol)
Kate hummed in thought again, but after not coming up with anything else, nodded.
"Yeah, let's so that. I don't think I can decide today anyway
She smiled at Ingo. "You decide then. WHat should we get?"
((thank you!! man you played a lot!! i still have too many to try lol. my very first pokemon game i had since i was 6 got destroyed and i tried to cope by emulating it on a tablet. didn't like it and just saved up for the ds one lol. which ones your favorite?))
"I'm up for that apple and cheri berry sandwich if you are."
He quickly pulled out his wallet. "And it's on me today. No protests."
((Oh that's a hard one... The original red and blue carry a special place in my heart, Sun and Moon had the best story in my opinion, but I think I had the most fun playing Violet. I am very impressed with how far the franchise has come. ))

First Time
Pairing: Eddie Munson x fem!reader
Summary: You take your best friend Eddie to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time.
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 2917
Warnings: pet names, Rocky Horror Picture Show spoilers, sexual language, explicit language,
Author’s Note: This takes place in the same universe as my series but is just a short little moment in their friendship, this is pre-relationship and also established relationship at the end(there is a time jump). As we don’t know if Eddie has seen RHPS I’m making it that he hasn’t. The movie came out when he was like 8 and I don’t think Hawkins would have showed Rocky Horror. And the VHS of it didn’t come out in the US until 1990. And the friends we see him with in the show don’t seem like the type to take him. But thats just me, and this is make believe. Also, I am a RHPS shadowcaster myself so the call back lines are from my cast and may be different than ones you have heard at a midnight show. Hope you enjoy!
Masterlist
*GIF not mine*
“So wait, you’re saying you're a virgin?”
“I mean, I guess if you want to put it that way.” Eddie said as he lounged on his bed next to you, flipping through a magazine
“That’s what we call people who have never been to a Rocky Horror shadowcast show before.” You said with an excited smile. You had found a flier for a local cast when you were in a record shop in Indianapolis the day before and had brought it back to show Eddie.
“We? Who’s we?” The metalhead asked, cocking his head and looking up at you as you sat on the bed next to him.
“The group of weirdos, like me, who regularly went to midnight shows.” You laughed, you had been going to midnight shows as often as you could with your group of friends back in L.A. for a few years now and since moving to Hawkins you were missing the experience.
“I guess I’m a virgin then as I’ve never seen it.” He said as he flipped a page.
“Well,” You started, drawing out the word. “We could always change that. Says here they perform the second and fourth Saturday of the month. The second Saturday is this upcoming one, what do you say?”
“What’s so different about seeing it in a theater than a tape?” He asked as he tossed the magazine aside to look at you.
“Well, it’s not going to be on a tiny TV screen for one, also I can’t find a tape of it anywhere.” You smirked, “And for two, it’s the whole experience. There will be people dressed up like the characters, like me, I dress like Magenta. There will be a cast performing the show in front of the screen while we watch. We’ll get to yell at the movie and throw props and dance if we want. It’s a wild experience and so fun.” You said quickly, clearly very excited. “Please Eddie?” You pleaded.
“Okay, okay. Sounds fun.” He smiled, “If you’re dressing up, are you going to make me too?”
“Not yet, we have to see which character you like first. Though, there is a character named Eddie played by Meatloaf so we could dress you up like that if we wanted. But I think you should see the movie first.” You beamed. You couldn’t wait to go, not only for yourself but to see how Eddie likes the experience too. “I can’t wait to pop your cherry!” You laughed as Eddie rolled his eyes.
“Don’t say it like that, doll.” Eddie moaned lightly, a small grin breaking on his face despite himself.
“What? I am. I’m gonna pop your Rocky Horror cherry.” You said with a large impish smile.
“I’ll have you know, I have already popped the cherry that matters.” He retorted with a wink.
“Oh my god, Eddie!” You groaned as you felt the heat rise to your cheeks while grabbing one of his pillows and hitting him with it, pulling a loud laugh from the man.
~ Saturday ~
You were waiting outside of Eddie’s trailer, having just knocked to pick him up for the show. You were in your costume, a form of a maids outfit with black stockings, high heeled ankle boots, your colorful hair was curled wildly and your make up was done to complete the look.
A moment later Eddie opened the door, shrugging his vest on over his leather jacket and smiling as he looked at your outfit. “Wow, sweetheart. You look great.” Eddie said as he caught himself staring. He knew he was going to have a hard time paying attention to the show when you would be looking like that next to him.
“Thank you! I haven’t gotten to wear this in so long! I’m so excited!” You got out as you did a little spin for him, “Come on, let’s go ‘give ourselves over to absolute pleasure.’” You said, grabbing his hand and pulling him to the car.
“Sorry? Do what now?” He laughed as he was dragged along.
“It’s a line from one of the songs, come on.” You chuckled as you opened the door of your car and got in. Once you were both seated, you started the hour long journey to Indianapolis.
~
You walked up to the theater and saw the large line of people waiting at the door. “Oh! It looks like it will be a full house tonight! Those are the best!” You chirped eagerly as you got into line.
“Why’s that?” Eddie asked as he looked around at the people getting in line around him. He noticed they were in alternative clothes, and some in costume like you. He could see why you fit in here.
“Well, that means it’ll be loud and hopefully very funny. I hope they have call backs like ours back home.” You said, spying a cast member dressed like an old timey cigarette girl, complete with a tray that was hanging from her neck full of brown paper bags. She was walking down the line talking to the audience with a guy wearing a shirt with a pair of bedazzled lips on it, he was writing on the faces of some of the people he talked to.
“What’s a call back?” Your friend questioned.
“So when a certain line or event happens in the movie you yell back a phrase. Like whenever Brad has his name said or he does something douchey, we yell ‘asshole’ and whenever Janet gets her name said we yell ‘slut’. Things like that. But most casts can fill the entire movie up with call backs.” You explained with a large smile, Eddie nodded his head not quite understanding what was going to happen tonight.
“Hi, any prop bags?” The cigarette girl said as she walked up to you both, you could now see that along with the bags she carried, her tray was also full of pins for the movie.
“Yes, two please. Also can I have two of the pins please?” You asked politely.
“Sure, that’ll be $2.” She said with a smile, handing Eddie two of the bags while you pulled out the money. She put the money away while you took two pins with the Rocky Horror lips on them, thanking her as you did. “Enjoy the show!” She said as she walked past you.
“Here you go, you don’t have to wear it but I just wanted you to remember tonight.” You explained, handing the pin to him as you took one of the bags.
“Thanks, doll.” He smiled at you before holding the bag in between his teeth as he attached the pin to his vest. You bit back a large dopey smile as he put it on, happy that he wanted to wear it for you.
“Any virgins here?” The other cast member said as he walked up to the two of you.
“Just him!” You informed, gesturing to Eddie.
“Okay pal, I’m going to write on your face.” He announced, holding up a tube of red lips stick. Eddie glanced at you quickly, saw you nod your head, and then nodded his own. The guy drew on both his cheeks quickly, before moving to the next group.
“What’s it say?” Eddie said, turning to face you.
“Well, one cheek just has a V, but the other does have a dick on it.” You laughed, watching as he groaned slightly. “You have to keep them on until after the show though! Those are the rules of going to Rocky Horror.”
“Okay, I hear ya.” He replied with a grin.
A few minutes later you were sitting in the theater about 4 rows back, you had explained to Eddie that it’s better to be up close for this type of show. While the audience filled the rows you explained all the props and their uses from the bag.
“So the first prop we use is the rice, we’re going to throw it in the air like they do at weddings. Then there’s the newspaper and water guns for the rain scene.” You told him, going on to list the others. “But I’ll tell you when they all come out.” You finished with a sweet smile, you saw an equally sweet smile appear on Eddie’s face as well.
“Hello!” You heard someone yell from the front. The audience went quiet as you all turned your attention to him, it was the cast member with the lip stick. “Welcome to the Rocky Horror Picture Show!” The crowd cheered loudly all around you as you and Eddie joined in. “So first thing right off the bat, we’re going to go over the rules.” He yelled.
“Fuck the rules!” You heard the audience say back.
“You can’t fuck the rules, but you can fuck me!” The cast member yelled back, the crowd laughed with a few emphatic “Okay!”s and “When and where?”s called out. “So rule number 1! No throwing props at the screen! It costs more than you will ever have and we will rat you out! You’re going to throw your props up and back, away from the screen. Rule number 2! If you’re going to dance, do it at your seats, we will be having cast members running around the theater. Do not get in their way or they will run you down. And finally rule number 3. This is an audience participation experience! Which means that you as the audience will need to?”
“Participate!” You and the rest of the audience yelled back.
“Good! Okay! Now for the fun part. Everybody stand up!” You and Eddie stood up with everyone else. “If you’ve seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadowcast more than…let’s say.. 100 times, say “woo!” And sit down.” A few members sat down. “They don’t count! They work here!” The man laughed. “Okay 50?” A few more sat down. “30 times?”
You wooed and sat down, Eddie looked at you with an amused look and his eyebrows raised. “30?” He mouthed as the cast member continued to count down. You nodded your head with a shrug of your shoulders.
“Okay, if you have seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadowcast 1 time, say woo and sit down.” Eddie was still standing with a few other members of the audience, he looked around at the others standing with him. “Okay, what do we call the people standing?”
“Virgins!” You and the crowd yelled.
“And what do we do with virgins?”
“FUCK THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!” The crowd and cast yelled. Eddie looked down at you with raised eyebrows again and a small grin, looking a little uncertain.
“Virgins! Raise your left hand into the air! And place your right hand over your heart! And repeat after me!”
“After me! After me!” You and the audience yelled back, you knew what was about to happen as it happens in the L.A. cast too.
“I, State your name!”
“Indiana!” A few cast members yelled back while the virgins said their names.
“I said state your name, not name your state.” He said back. “Pledge allegiance to the lips. Of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. And to the decadence, for which it stands. One movie, under Richard O'Brien, with sensuous daydreams, erotic nightmares, and sins of the flesh for all.” Eddie and the virgins repeated after each pause the cast member made.
“Okay, sit the fuck down! You're in a movie theater!” Another cast member yelled causing the audience to laugh. Eddie sat down and shot you a large smile and a shake of his head, what had you gotten him into?
“1-2-3 Start the fucking movie!” Some in the audience yelled.
“No, forget the movie and start the fucking!" You and some of the other members called back. You laughed and shared a look with Eddie as the lights dimmed in the theater and the music of Science Fiction Double Feature started, the cigarette girl from earlier walked out onto the stage. “A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. God said, let there be lips! And there were lips and they were big, red, cock-sucking lips and they said!” You yelled with the crowd just before the lyrics started and the woman began to perform.
You kept glancing at Eddie’s face as the woman did her routine and you yelled call backs, having not told him that it’s usual to have a strip tease at the very beginning of the show. When she started taking off small articles of clothing, like shoes and her fishnets you watched his eyebrows furrow slightly. When she took off her corset, he cocked his head to the side very slightly as the furrow deepened. You then watched his eyebrows raise and eyes slightly widen when she had taken everything off until she was just in her matching lace lingerie set.
“What kind of show did you take me to, sweetheart?” Eddie said with a smirk as he turned to you once the scene started to fade and the woman gathered her clothes and walked off the stage.
“I told you it was going to be a wild time, Eds.” You shot back with a smirk of your own. “Time to throw the rice!” You pulled the small bag of rice out of your bag and threw it up as the wedding party came out of the church both on the screen and on the stage. Eddie chuckled as he threw the rice up with you, seemingly trying to throw it just over you.
The show went on with you yelling call backs and telling Eddie when to use certain props. You made him dance the Time Warp with you and the rest of the crowd, loving the happy laughter that was pulled out of him as you both danced next to each other.
His expression seeing Tim Curray as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in all his lingerie clad glory for the first time was an amusing sight indeed. As well as his reaction to Meatloaf as Eddie. “Wait, he wakes up, sings a song, and then dies? That’s it?”
You had a blast singing Eddie’s Teddy to Eddie while he chuckled next to you, you invading his space while you sang, “When Eddie said he didn’t like his teddy, you knew he was a no good kid! But when he threatened your life with a switchblade knife! What a guy! Makes you cry! And I did!”
“What do you mean they’re aliens?” He whispered as the movie was ending and RiffRaff and Magenta were taking over the castle. “This was an alien movie the whole time?”
“I know, weird right? This movie about sexual freedom and just being who you are, with a very loose plot, is technically an alien flick.” You giggled as the castle turned spaceship flew into the sky.
The lights came up for the curtain call as they introduced the cast members who had performed, you and Eddie cheering loudly for them as they bowed. “Thank you all for coming, you don’t have to go home. But you can’t stay here! Get the hell out!” The host for the night had yelled as the audience started to stand and leave.
“So what did you think?” You asked as the two of you walked back to your car hand in hand.
“That was so much fun, doll!” Eddie exclaimed, squeezing your hand as he did.
You beamed at his words, “I’m so happy you had fun! Maybe we can go again soon?” You asked once you got to your car, looking up at him with a hopeful look.
“Definitely, sweetheart.” He smiled back, leaning forward and leaving a chaste kiss on your cheek. “Thank you for taking me.”
“Any time.” You said as you felt the heat rise to your face and a dopey smile pull your lips.
~ 2 Months Later ~
“Babe! Come on! We’ve got to go!” Eddie yelled from the living room of his trailer. You were in his bedroom changing into your new costume you made. You grabbed the top hat you were going to wear after straightening out your wig, and headed out the door. You were dressed like Columbia tonight, even down to fake tap shoes that you had thrifted.
Eddie was standing there in the Eddie “costume” you had made him. Really it was just the leather vest and shirt that you thrifted as well and had painted to look like the ones in the movie, you had even added the leopard print lapels.
“Wow sweetheart, look at you!” He said as you walked up to him, this was his first time seeing you in it. He wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed you, pulling back after a moment to smile down at you. “How do I look?” He asked as he let go and did a little spin for you.
“Perfect.” You smiled, biting your lip ever so slightly. “You ready to go do the Time Warp again?”
“More than ready, I think I even remember some of the call backs now!” He said excitedly as he grabbed your hand and led you out of the trailer and towards his van. “Think we can get away with doing some of the lifts?”
“You are not throwing me in the air Eddie Munson!” You scolded with a laugh.
Eddie just shrugged with a mischievous smile, “We‘ll see about that, babe.” He said with a wink causing you to roll your eyes.

➳ LMLY
Pairing: Jackson Wang x male reader
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 1,3k
🎵 LMLY
[If this is goodbye don't leave me loving you.]
Masterlist.
"You really need to end it, Y/N." Bambam sighs and stares at you, not intentionally to sound severe. "You'll only end up getting hurt."
It wasn't the first time you two have had this conversation, though. And you were very aware of what he has been repeating every time he got the chance, despite the way you acted.
"I know," You, as always, remind him of it. "I know that. But, honestly, wouldn't you do the same?"
"No, definitely not." He denies with his head and has an indecipherable expression on his face. "I know you've had this big crush on him for a while, but is it really worth it?"
Whatever you were about to say is interrupted by the sound of a message on your phone. You quickly glance at it and the rapid beating of your heart combined with a small smile, gives away who's the sender of that message.
"He wants to meet me later." You murmur, to which Bambam simply denies with his head. "Look, I understand why you don't like it, but I'm very aware of this; I know this is nothing serious and no matter how much I want it or try, Jackson will never love me as much as he loved his ex, but this is the only way I get to be with him, so I'll just go with it."
"I, I just really want you to know that you deserve better, Y/N. I don't want you to see you hurt, but if this is what you want... Then I guess I can't make you change your mind."
He stands up and ruffles your hair a bit, making you smile. "I have to leave, but call me if you need anything."
You tightly nod and get up from the couch after he leaves your apartment, getting ready for whatever Jackson wanted to see you.
After putting on your nicest clothes for the mere purpose of him finding you good-looking, you exit your place and make your way to his, with the excitement and nervousness running your entire body.
He greets you with that smile you fell in love with and hugs you quickly, inviting you to enter his apartment and saying he prepared dinner for you. Your heart feels fluttered and your cheeks covers in a pinkish hue.
Deciding to have dinner while watching movies, you both sit on the couch and share laughs and a small conversation when the movies are over and in the time you pick the next one.
Jackson is very attentive to everything you say, smiles at you all the time, and even comes up to you to snuggle on the couch, leaving occasional kisses on your shoulder and head, giving you the famous butterflies in your stomach.
When you both realize it's too late, he invites you to spend the night there, so you end up sleeping in each other's arms after another kissing session, and when he sleeps peacefully next to you and you look at him, so perfect, so wrong... The realization that you shouldn't have accepted this in the first place makes you feel terrible. Jackson just had told you it was fun to spend time with you, and you only wanted to tell him how in love you were with him.
"It's been like three months now," You say and turn on your feet to face Bambam, who is now raising his eyebrow and his arms are crossed over his chest. "So I'm just going to tell him."
"Really? You should've told him since day one." He blurts out sarcastically.
"Not helping! Your friend here is having a crisis now."
"Alright, alright." He walks towards you and places his hands over your shoulders to give them a small squeeze and comfort. "Are you sure you want to do this? You know, you're probably expecting him to consider your feelings and... really try to have something serious with you, but..."
"I know that it can go wrong. Of course I took that into consideration."
"Okay, I was just making sure." He smiles and sighs. "So, when are you telling him?"
"Well, I'm going to see him tomorrow."
"Alright, well, good luck, I guess? I don't know what to tell you." He giggles, making you smile and feel less tense.
"Thanks, I'm going to need it."
"Just in case things go wrong, for the record, I always hated him." He says, making you fake gasp. "But if all goes well, then... Nah, I always hated him."
"Hey!" You pout and he walks over to your living room as he laughs. "Come here!"
When the day finally came you were more than nervous. Your body shaked at the thought of you confessing to him, and your heart would feel the excitement by imagining things actually going well.
Just when you were about to get ready, someone knocks on your door, and you immediately think that it's Bambam, probably to give you some encouragement, but you are surprised to see Jackson with a nervous expression on his face.
"Oh? I thought we would meet up at the restaurant. Is everything okay? Do you want to come in?" You quickly babble, feeling incredibly nervous.
"I'm sorry," He says, not intending to get inside. "I- I've been talking to Jae lately... And we kind of, you know, are getting back together."
"Oh," An awkward smile appears on your face. "I, uh, I understand. After all, this wasn't serious..."
"Yeah, again, I'm sorry."
"No worries," You say, feeling a lump on your throat and your hands shaking. "I'll see you around?"
Jackson nods, not knowing what else to say, and walks away.
When you close the door, your weak legs make you slide to the ground, feeling so pathetic, wondering how you could have ever believed that what you two had really had a future.
You knew it. Deep down, you knew things would end up just like now; yet, you still held on to that bit of hope, and now you're there, with tears streaming down your face and a broken heart.
With shaking hands you get to grab your phone from your pocket and text your friend, knowing he'd be there for you in no time.
Bam♡
Do i have to beat someone?
You
No, just get here as soon as you can
And bring nice ice cream with you
Bam♡
Rocky road and movies?
You
Please:(
Bam♡
I'll be there in a heartbeat!
That night, Bambam let you cry over his shoulder. He gave you hugs and made sure to always be around you, listening to everything you had to say.
"I'd say it's not worth it to cry over that jerk, but now you need to let all that out." He says as he comes back from the kitchen. "Here. More ice cream and tissues."
You take what he's handing you and whisper a thank you before start crying again. "I am so stupid. I should've listened to you."
He sits next to you, pausing your favorite movie and staring back at you. "You're not stupid, don't say that... a little bit silly, maybe..."
When your crying becomes louder, Bambam goes for a hug. "I am just kidding, ah, I am sorry, I just wanted to make you laugh."
He gives soft caresses to your back, making your breathing more stable and stoping the tears in your eyes; bringing you calmness.
In between his warm arms, you feel thankful to have such a supportive friend next to you, meanwhile Bambam knows his heart is beating fast because, even after all this time, he's still in love with you.
But not today, he reminds himself. Tonight he has to put his feelings aside and comfort you because you need it. He doesn't want to burden you with the confession of his crush right now, you don't need that now. So for now he only gives you a shoulder to cry on, his support and, in shy caresses, all of his love.

Vintage Kiss, Nearly Missed | Park Minhyuk
Pairing: Female reader x Rocky (Park Minhyuk)
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Warnings: None
Length: 2k words
Summary: MJ loves to mess with her by putting her in situations that don't fit her nature. She tried getting used to it, but this time around MJ hit the jackpot when it came to a dare that would change her relationship status with Rocky.
⭐
⭐
⭐
Becoming friends with the members of Astro was the start of a tireless journey. She couldn't believe how many things came to fruition because of Myungjun's jokes - and considering his wacky mind, it wasn't a normal day if she didn't feel the rush of adrenaline at least 5 times. The stupider it was, the stronger the temptation to make it true; costume parties, comedy skits and competitions of all sorts. Life with them was always exciting, Myungjun made sure of it from the get go - as they were extremely different in nature, he had a knack for turning things in her life around. Although getting used to such fun was pretty heartwarming - it wasn't what suited her best. She came to love the thrill but calmness was her motto. And well, it ended with her getting a 'boyfriend' because of it.
It happened through the mystery drink challenge - whoever got the most bad ones was to be punished by receiving a ridiculous dare from Myungjun. (As if the drinks weren’t enough of a punishment by themselves.) As much as she prayed to the angels above for her opponent, Moonbin, to be the one to grimace - the oyster taste hit her tongue and she knew she was done for. As for the loser, Myungjun made sure to hit her where it most hurt - he made her become a 'nurturing girlfriend' to one of the members of Astro for 3 days. (Originally it was a two weeks but she fortunately had amazing negotiation skills.) They were all staring at her expectantly so she would choose who she wanted to take care of - but it was as if Myungjun knew that she had taken a liking for a certain someone.
Minhyuk's eyes widened out of their orbits when he was chosen. He was good at cooking, independent and strong, so why feel the need to nurture him? She could have chosen anyone else, like Sanha for example, kid can't cook to save his own life-
He couldn't understand it no matter how much he thought about it - perhaps she chose the lesser evil, or she just wanted to hang out with him. Either way, he couldn't refuse the dare so he was just another one of Myungjun's victims.
---
She couldn't pretend like she had made lunch boxes before - she really hasn't, and making them for Rocky was extremely embarrassing. The cute sausage octopi failed her, and she gave up without even trying on making anything fancy. She made a heartfelt steak (she could never do wrong with meat when it came to men) with some salad on the side. She also bought some snacks they could enjoy when they're together. The girlfriend act had to be perfect or else she would have to feel Myungjun's wrath.
Minhyuk was, in one word, impressed. He didn't think she'd go through with the joke, less be hugged the moment he opened the door and given free home-made food. Myungjun made sure to spy properly and evaluate the merch and remind them they need to go on a cute date too.
"Date? That wasn't part of the conditions!" She suddenly snapped completely out of her calm state, her brain going in a frenzy.
"It is now!" Myungjun rebutted with a laugh. Minhyuk was standing in between them, confusion written all over his face.
"We can watch a movie?" He suggested, to have an easy getaway from what his hyung suddenly wanted.
"No 'lets watch a movie and not actually pay attention to each other', yeah? It better be a real date, yeah? And it better be cute!!" Myungjun's tone increased in volume with every following question.
"Got it, got it, sheesh." Minhyuk once again had to jump in to clear the waters, as things were getting a little too heated. "We'll go on a date… do you know how to roller skate?"
Caught off guard, with Minhyuk looking straight into her eyes with such intensity, she furrowed her brow and thought back if her parents ever took her out to do such a thing.
"I don't think so. Just ice skating, I guess."
"Great, then we'll go try it out together." A flash of something unknown to her occupied Minhyuk's eyes for a second. She had no idea what he was thinking - or where the idea even came from. Maybe it was in the attempt to save her from Myungjun, or he simply wanted to go roller skating and had no one to tag along with him.
In a nutshell, Minhyuk didn't understand why he was chosen and she didn't know why he was so willing to take her on a date. The answer was staring both of them straight in the face, but perhaps they had something more in common besides calmness - they were both thick headed. But they had no time to think about that as Myungjun was yelling at them to cuddle on the couch. The 'nurturing' part wasn't even there anymore. Not that the girlfriend part was - MJ was basically making two friends be awkwardly close to each other physically. Even if they had crushes on each other - thing which they both denied - they felt too cramped and forced to enjoy it.
Evening came by eventually, after about 10 different incidents when they had to dodge each other and pull away as if burned because Myungjun was pulling pranks. But right when they saw the waters had calmed and they could sigh relief, Dongmin proved them wrong. The look on Minhyuk’s face hearing Dongmin ask “So are you guys gonna wear cute matching outfits tomorrow?” was of utter betrayal. Of course Myungjun loved the idea, and the unfair number of conditions to the losers punishment only kept increasing.
“What about those cute overalls you bought with me?” Moonbin suddenly asked her. “Since Minhyukie likes that type of stuff too, maybe you can both dress vintage? It would fit with roller skating, honestly.” she looked at Moonbin as if an Angel just descended on earth to save her. She ought to thank him later.
“That doesn't sound half bad.” Minhyuk commented, but Myungjun didn’t really look satisfied with Moonbin’s solution. Nevertheless, they just shut him up and proceeded with planning ahead some cute vintage outfits. They were excited about it, almost alike kids.
They said their goodbyes when dark came over the streets, and she headed home to put together the outfit that she promised Minhyuk she would wear. A slight palpitation took over her chest and she clenched the clothes close, as if she was a teenager all over again, even if this date wasn’t even real to begin with. Still, she knew she had to catch a blink of sleep if she didn’t want to be a zombie tomorrow, even if the emotions got the best of her with the moon up high.
Minhyuk had no fancy car to pick her up with, and no fancy facial expression either. Their greetings were very friendly and normal - but an unfamiliar awkwardness overtook them as they walked side by side to the skating rink in the city. Minhyuk indeed matched her blue jeans overalls with high waisted baggy blue pants - but he chose to wear a white shirt while she wore pink. They stole glances at each other the whole way - as if to check if the situation they were in was even real. It very much was, but they only realized it when they had arrived and were getting their skates at the reception - the workers there were very much treating them like a couple. A wave of warmth crept up her face, but also a bit of paranoia; because Myungjun was always there to check on them if they were being lovey dovey, and now he wasn’t even there, but she felt the tingles of romance in her belly. Perhaps it was strictly because he wasn’t there that the feelings felt free to surface.
Minhyuk tried to act all knightley by letting her hold on to him as she stepped into the rink - but he was the first one to lose balance. Trying to flex his years spent in ballet, he acted as if nothing happened and didn’t even try holding onto the railing like she was - perhaps he was trying to impress her. She, on the other hand, had no thoughts of impressing anyone. Her legs were wobbly and she didn’t seem to get along with being on so many wheels.
They were supposed to have a romantic date but eventually Minhyuk separated from her and she only noticed when she felt him whoosh by her - that he caught onto the trick of roller skating way before her and he was just showing off by that point. Even all of the other couples were staring at him.
“Are you gonna do a triple axel next?” She jokes, but Minhyuk just smiled like a kid in response.
“I’ll even do a quadra.” He boasted, a dimple showing on the right side of his face. Right as she was about to stop him - because she knew from the beginning it was a bad idea - she saw him start skating faster so he could try and go into a turn. She braced for something that would end up in even a trip to a hospital, but thankfully the speed made him lose control and he just ended up slamming into the side of the rink he was heading towards. Slowly, along the railing, she headed towards him to check if he was okay, and saw he was cursing under his breath and holding his hand tightly.
“Sh*t, I hit my hand on the railing.” He mumbled, and she spotted the red spot he was talking about.
“That’s what you get!” She rebutted. “I don’t know what got into you.”
“I thought you liked people who do crazy weird things?” He asked, a childish curiosity in his eyes. His gaze was a lot more serious, though.
“Me? I like chill and calm, honestly. That’s why Myungjun steps on my tail so often. He can’t stand me being so passive and getting overly sentimental about my plants.” Minhyuk took in her words with pure thirst, a light suddenly coming on in the shine of his eyes.
“You get sentimental over flowers?” He asked, the smile he once wore reappearing on his lips. It was extremely charming, and one of the reasons she found herself often swooning after him. “That’s so cute.” As if the air got knocked out of her lungs, she couldn’t say a thing as Minhyuk approached her silently. She dared look up into his eyes and was met with a happiness that was hard to describe. They would have had the most movie-like romantic kiss, if Minhyuk didn’t once again lose balance on the skates when he leaned in to kiss her. She caught his torso and stabilized him, giggling with her entire heart. Softly grabbing onto his hand, she placed it on the railing next to them so they both be supported, and stole a quick kiss from his lips before dashing away to the exit of the rink.
“Let’s grab some shaved ice on the way home!” She told him from afar. “Both to eat and for your swollen hand.” Minhyuk shook his head but continued to smile, carefully following the railing to catch up to his now girlfriend. It was foolish of him to believe he needed to change anything about himself to be liked back by her. All that became apparent as her soft calming voice filled the ice cream shop they nestled at to enjoy each other’s company - her body was finally relaxed, her gaze filled with love and affection. From now on he knew to stick to his own ways around her, even if they were old fashioned - or he would be missing out.

hi,, I’m not sure if you write for Yamaguchi but if you do, can you please make a comfort scenario where the reader goes to him after coming out to her family under pressure? I really need it rn 🥺
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope you’re doing okay now!
I’ll Always Accept You
Pairing: Reader x Yamaguchi Tadashi
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
After coming out to her family goes rocky, Y/N bolts to her biggest source of comfort, her boyfriend Tadashi, who’s quick to reassure her that she’ll be accepted by him, no matter what.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The clinks of the forks and knives at the dinner table were the only things to be heard throughout the silence. Y/N shifts uncomfortably in her seat, the tense atmosphere getting to her. It had been relentless, ever since they finished watching that movie.
Y/N’s younger sister had insisted on having a ‘family movie night’. She was forced to be part of it, having had to cancel her plans with her boyfriend for it. The whole family was sitting, staring at the screen silently at some rom-com she hadn’t bothered to remember the name of, and Y/N had made a comment of how pretty one of the girls were, and how the guy defiantly didn’t deserve someone like her. She saw her parents exchange a glance. They stayed silent throughout the rest of the movie, occasionally throwing questioning glances at her. Her sister remained unbothered, engrossed by the film.
Now here she was, awkwardly sitting at the dinner table, pushing her food around. She debates whether to bring up something to talk about, when her sister beats her to it.
“How did you guys like the movie?” She asks excitedly, not seeming to pick up the tense air.
“Fine.” Her mother nods, “though Y/N seemed to enjoy it a little more than-”
“I liked it!” Y/N interrupts hastily. She really didn’t want to discuss this right now. Though she had become more and more confident with her sexuality, she still wasn’t ready to tell her family, nervous at how they would react. She could always do something about unsupportive friends, but family…that was a whole other story. Y/N was sure they wouldn’t kick her out or anything like that but that didn’t do anything to calm down her fears. There were always those ‘What If’s’ in her mind.
“Don’t interrupt your mother like that.” Her father says, putting down his utensils. The glance her parents then exchange makes her insides twist with anxiousness.
“Y/N.” Her mother finally turns to her. “You’ve been jumpy ever since the movie. Is there something you’d like to tell us?” Her face doesn’t hold her usual smile and the seriousness freaks her out a little. Y/N shakes her head, because she’s sure her voice would crack over waver if he tried to speak. She was never a great actor.
“Are you sure?” Her father prompts, to which Y/N switches to nodding her head. She can tell her parents don’t believe her.
“The movie?” Her sister questions. “Oh! I can guess who your favourite character was!” She says excitedly. “It was the girl with the braids! You said she looked pretty and-” Y/N really really wanted her to shut up now.
“Y/N…we’ve been noticing for a while now.” Her father folds his arms, and her mother continues.
“What your father means is…we know you have a boyfriend now, and Tadashi is lovely but…” she pauses. “Before that…and still now, you’ve always-” the woman struggles to word it the way she wants, looking to her husband for help.
“Taken an interest in...” he trails off himself. There it was. They couldn’t even say it, Y/N thinks a little bitterly. She wanted to just blurt it out under this pressure. She had been hiding this for years now and she knows it’ll feel good to know she doesn’t have to hide anymore.
So Y/N caves under pressure. She takes deep breath and nods.
“I’m...yeah. I like women. And men.” She winces as she hears her sister’s knife slip out of her hand and her parents eyes widen. “I’m bisexual.” There’s a moment of silence, before everyone talks at once.
“What?”
“You’re what?!”
“But I thought-”
None of the reactions were positive and Y/N feels tears well up in her eyes. Part of her knows that it’s the shock of her coming out that bluntly, but the bigger, more overwhelming feelings of anxiousness win over. Y/N shakes her heads and stands from the table backing away. She didn’t want to deal with this. She ignores her parents calls for her to come back and grabs her phone and bolts out the door. There was only one person on her mind that could help her, and he wasn’t too far away.
If anyone was worried about a sobbing girl running down their street, they didn’t show it. The night was cold, the wind hitting her face as she ran. Reaching his house, Y/N knocks frantically on the door, shivering a little from the cold.
The door opens, revealing a wide-eyed Yamaguchi.
“Y/N? Oh my-...why are you crying?” he questions, letting out a small grunt when she throws himself at him, burying her face into his chest, tears still flowing. Yamaguchi is shocked and a little panicked at her crying.
“Are you hurt? What’s-...you’re so cold!” he ushers her inside gently, up to his room, sitting her down on his bed. Y/N’s cries have died down to sniffles at this point, and she sits there staring at the ground. She feels someone lift her arms up and slip something on her. She looks at herself and realises Yamaguchi had slipped one of his hoodies onto her. She feels the bed dip next to her and two warm arms wind around her body. Her head is pulled into his chest and she reaches up and grabs the front of his shirt.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” He frowns a little at the silence, but doesn’t push her, sitting there and running a soothing hand through her hair. He was very worried as to what got her this upset. He’d wait until she was ready to talk.
“I did it.” She whispers after a while. “I told them I’m bi.”
Yamaguchi pauses. That couldn’t have gone well if she was in this state. He’d known she was hesitant to tell them. “It didn’t go well?”
“I-...I don’t think so?” She shakes her head. “They were...not angry? But they weren’t happy either.” He nods slowly, taking in the information. Maybe it was the initial shock?
“Hey.” he says softly, moving way to look at her. “Whatever they might say. I’m so proud of you for doing that.” he smiles. “I love you, y’know? Whatever might happen, I’ll always love you.” he assures her with a reassuring smile.
Y/N nods, getting choked up again. She lets Yamaguchi pull her back into a hug. He agrees when she asks if she can stay over, asking her to text her parents to let them know she was okay. Y/N ends up texting her sister, who responds with telling her to take her time.
When she puts her phone down, she sees Tadashi smiling at her, sitting on the bed with a movie paused on his laptop. He pats the spot next to her and Y/N complies, climbing in next to him, cuddling up against his side. The arm around her makes her feel safe and loved.
“It’s going to be alright.” He smiles down at her after a while. Y/N nods. She would have to face her family eventually, but with Tadashi by her side, she could maybe face them. His silent comfort was more than enough to make her relax.
Requests are Welcome and Appreciated

trailer of you
park jisung x reader
main masterlist
description. “Will a 30 second trailer really tell you everything you need to know about a person and know what you’re getting yourself into?” The only question that resonates in my head after my smooth relationship with the guy next door started to get rocky. Judging from his trailer, he seemed normal at first glance. Should I even open my heart to him? I trusted him too quickly with his baby face and sweet words, only to find him hurt my heart with his expertly hidden agenda.
genre. college!au, trailer!au, strangers to lovers!au, betrayal but soon get back together typa au cudndjdn
warnings. nonee
a/n. as you can probably tell the idea came from the 30 seconds trailer trend on tiktok and i liked the concept so i wanted to try it out! this is my first time writing jisung HAHA other than that this is going to be a long ass ff so buckle up! :D
“Did you know?”
I groaned as I heard Jaemin speak. “Dont tell me you have another mind blowing discovery fact that I just had to know.” I waved my hands around in the air jokingly as i kept my back towards Jaemin and continue writing my essay on my laptop.
I’ve been friends with Na Jaemin for a long time. Probably too long. Ever since I got to meet him in high school due to being in the same mathematics class and sitting next to each other almost everyday, it didn’t take the two us long to become close and soon, best friends.
Of course the two best friends decided to attend the same college together. At the very least, not all our classes were the same. The only class Jaemin and I signed up together was psychology, since we both shared an interest in that field. Apart from that, we went about pursuing our other interests. For me, it was modern dance while Jaemin decided to take some class about Geography, a subject I just seem to never come to like.
To top it off, we got a room in college together as well. Might seem weird to others since almost everyone shares a room with the same gender but then again, it felt completely normal for us.
On days like these where the two of us ended our classes around the same time, we would usually stay in for the day and just hang out.
“So you know how the room beside us is empty?” Jaemin sat up from his bed while I spun my chair around to face him. I rolled your eyes clearly at him, making him snicker.
“It’s not another ghost story i swear!” Jaemin lifted his arms up in the air in defence. I chuckled and raises my eyebrows, motioning him to continue and elaborate.
“I found out that a new student apparently enrolled.” Jaemin sayed nonchalantly, moving to the edge of the wall and letting his back lean on it.
I shrugged. “So?”
Jaemin folded his arms and gave me an unimpressed look.
“High chance he or she will move in next door.” Jaemin clicked his tongue. I turned my chair back to face my desk and resumed typing on my keyboard.
“Not to be rude, Jaemin, but that fact is practically irrelevant to me.” I mumbled, loud enough for him to hear. “Who knows?! He or she might get possessed by the spirit lingering in that room!” Jaemin retorted. I heard the bed creaking as he stood up and took two wide steps to reach my desk, his hand placed on the headrest of my chair and having him bent down beside me.
“You said this wasn't another ghost story.” I bore my eyes at Jaemin. I shook my head and pressed my finger down on the period key, signalling the end of my paragraph for today. I let out a sigh of satisfaction as I used my mouse to scroll through my essay, scanning over my sentences and paragraphs briefly before proceeding to shut down my laptop.
“I get that you hear banging on the walls but that happens in basically every apartment.” I added on, standing up from my chair and walking to the kitchen to find something to eat in the fridge. Jaemin followed closely behind me.
“Okay yes well apart from that...” Jaemin pauses for a moment while I went to the fridge and pulled out a packet of KitKat. As i peel the wrapper off, I jerk my head up with raised brows. “That...” I repeated his last word to signal him to finish his sentence. “We should make friends with him or her.”
I kept silent as I started to think about Jaemin’s idea. Making friends? It’s not my thing, never has either. The only person I would consider to be my friend is Jaemin. Other people whom i’ve met were just merely people I consider acquaintances. College was no different. Jaemin is clearly the more outgoing among the two of us. Having plenty of friends and quite high of a social status within the college. It was he who had to force me to socialise by bringing me to parties or outings with his friends, though the only group of friends he have that i seem to get along with decently are his hockey friends.
“I guess that’ll be okay?” I reply, the tone of doubt that i tried to hide away somehow shined through. Jaemin pat my head as I break the KitKat into two, unconsciously giving Jaemin the other half and taking a bite of mine. “It will be. Remember, I’m always there to guide you if you feel the awkwardness” Jaemin reassures me, lifting his half of the KitKat in the air before taking a bite. He grins happily, a feature of his I will never get tired of. His ray of sunshine and liveliness has always been a vital part of our friendship. I truly appreciate the fact that he always has a happy aura around him to get me through college.
“Do you know when the student’s moving in?” I ask, leaning my hip against the kitchen counter. Jaemin copied my posture and nodded his head. “I heard from Jeno that they’ll be moving in tomorrow.” Jaemin quickly finished his KitKat and washed his hand. I wasn’t even half done through my stick.
Shaking off the excess water on his hands, Jaemin walks back to the kitchen counter. “I’ll text you when I end for the day and we can meet him together.” I only shrug my shoulders in response, finally finishing the stick and throwing the plastic wrapper into the trashcan and washing my hands. I heard Jaemin’s footsteps going away from me as I assumed he went to the living room, hearing the television switching on.
I took my seat beside Jaemin as he opened up Netflix, browsing through different movies we could watch on our free day. “We can see his trailer as well. I really hope it’s not boring like many others.”
In my opinion, all the trailers of the people I came into contact with were really boring. It didn’t seemed to peak an interest in me and I overall felt that I wouldn’t be able to fit myself into their life as my life just didn’t seem to fit well with theirs. Jaemin was the only one who had a trailer whom I found interesting and I immediately thought that I could be close to him. Hence, becoming best friends.
“You’re just way too unique. Honestly when I saw your trailer it made me think Looks like I'm the only one who can fit into her lifestyle. And now look. I’m your only best friend.” I smacked Jaemin in the chest, making him let out a wince in pain. Lucky for him, he was used to my beatings and recovered right away.
I shook my head as a waved a finger in front of him. “Nuh-uh yours was as weird as mine. You don't know know how skeptical I was watching your trailer.” I retorted with a scoff.
I tried making myself comfortable while Jaemin was still browsing the movie section. With impatience taking over my body, I snatched the controller away from him and decided to choose a horror movie that had an interesting cover with an intriguing synopsis.
“Both our trailers were weird, and that’s why we’re a match made in heaven.”
“No shit, dork.” I lay my head on Jaemin’s shoulder as the two of us grew silent and paying our attention onto the tv screen.
Classes today went by as usual. Not surprised by the fact that I received my results for my History of Architecture test and earning an A+. It always felt so good when my hard work of staying up and having daily night long sessions of completing workload paid off. Well, it was mainly my determination but also Jaemin’s ability to get me my milk tea from Liho that pushed me through those sleepless nights.
I finally ended my last class. I was packing up my stuff when someone bumped into me, i assumed accidentally as he walked away without even reacting to the fact that he bumped into me and caused me to drop my pencil case and having my stationery falling out.
I scoffed in amusement. “Rude, much?” I mumbled to myself as I brought my gaze upwards from the floor to see the back of the person who caused me this mess.
He was wearing a black backpack and a black jean jacket which had green accents on it, along with black jeans and a pair of Classic Old Skool Vans. I creased my forehead as I quickly shrugged it off, not wanting to make a big deal out of it and went back to packing my bag.
“You sound annoyed. Sorry i guess.” My eyes blinked rapidly as I heard a voice. I knew from the guy who bumped into me as i heard his footsteps coming back to my direction.
It irritated me how he sounded arrogant and had a somewhat husky voice. Though I thought it was the kind of voice where the owner of it would be bright and lively like Jaemin, but dangerous once you anger them. I wanted to take a look at his face but he was soon out of my sight as he exited the classroom.
While i was walking out of class and making my way down the halls, I took out my phone and texted Jaemin to ask where he’s at. After not receiving a reply, which was odd since he has always been able to reply my texts in the matter of seconds, I only assumed he had an important matter to attend to or his class was being extended. So, I decided to head back to our room.
I unlocked the door and headed inside, tossing my bag onto the chair near my desk and throwing myself onto my bed, letting out a long sigh as i felt the comfort of my bed, grabbing my stuffed toy fox to indulge myself with even more comfort.
Bringing out my phone that I had in my hand, I got comfortable in my bed and started to play on my phone till Jaemin finally sent me a reply. I opened the chat instantly.
nAnA 😤🙄✌️: Hey sorry for not replying. Class got extended. I’m heading back to our room. You’re there right?
y/n: yeah i am. see you soon dork <3
I put my phone under my pillow as I look down to my fluffy stuffed toy fox. I got lost in its beaded eyes as i start wondering about how the person next door is like. More importantly, how his or her trailer would look like. What kind of moments would the trailer show that could describe their life story in 30 seconds?
My thoughts got cut off when i heard the door open, knowing it was Jaemin. He closes the door behind him and throws his bag off to the side of his bed and walking towards me to take a seat at the edge of my bed. I knew he was about to tell me about how we should be going to meet our new neighbour but before he opened his mouth, I lifted my hand up to put his words on hold.
“Do you even know what time he or she ends today?” I asked, sitting up straight and hugging my stuffed toy close to my chest.
“Firstly, it’s a male. Secondly, I found out that he’s in the same elective as Mark, he told me that it’s their last class for the day so they should be finished by now.” Jaemin rambled on as he glanced at the time on his phone’s home screen.
“You seriously have way too many connections with way too many people.”
Jaemim chuckled. “It’s not wrong to have connections that would never fail to benefit you.”
I shrugged and pushed Jaemin off my bed so i could get up, planting a quick kiss on my stuff toy before placing it neatly in front of my pillow. I looked towards the body length mirror in between the two beds to adjust my clothes. I then tilt my head up to Jaemin. “Shall we go then?”
Jaemin nodded. I grabbed my usual essentials as Jaemin opened the door for me and we headed out.
It only took us about 6 steps to reach the room where our unknown neighbour lies behind the door. However, I also started wondering if he’s even in his room or not. Who knows? He could be busy and hasn’t arrived yet.
Regardless, Jaemin took the initiative to knock on his door. The two of us could only wait silently as we didn’t seem to get an immediate answer. Jaemin bobbed his shoulders and knocked on the door one more time. We waited, again, longer than previously.
I was about to open your mouth to tell Jaemin that he’s probably not in his room until he puts a finger in front of me as he leaned towards the door. I paused my actions as I could hear footsteps from the other side of the door coming close.
Finally the door opens, revealing a blonde haired guy who looked like he had just woken up from his slumber. His eyes were half opened as he rubbed one of them with his hand while the other hand ran through his hair. He shakes his head as he widened his eyes to focus on the two strangers in front of him.
I scanned him up and down. Taking notes on his posture, actions and appearance. As my eyes went down, I took a look at his outfit. It matched to the guy who bumped into me at the end of class.
“Quinn?” He asked while he yawned. I tilted my head in confusion.
“Oh you know Quinn?” Jaemin asked back, surprised as he pointed his finger at you.
He looked taken aback for awhile trying to process the situation. I started wondering how he knew my name.
“Uh yeah. I’m in her Architecture class.”
“But how do you know-“
“I saw your name on your notebook when i bumped into you.”
Jaemin cocked an eyebrow as he noticed an unknown tension.
“So what’s your name? Im Na Jaemin, and as you know, she’s Quinn.” Jaemin introduced, his hand gesturing to me. I barely bowed my head to greet him. “Park Jisung.” Jisung introduced himself, shoving his hands into his pockets. It made a clear voiceless statement that he didn’t want to shake our hands or have any form of contact.
“We live next door to you so i guess we’ll be seeing each other often. Especially Quinn.”
Jisung doesn’t reply, constantly switching gazes between me and Jaemin, probably having the same idea as us. Jaemin however was the first one to speak up. “Could we... perhaps watch your trailer?”
“I’d like to see yours as well.” Jisung jerks in head towards us. Jaemin and I nodded, proceeding to do the same actions as Jisung to reveal our trailers.
Putting his index and middle finger in the air, he places them beside his head and swiftly bends it forward slightly. That resulted in a see through screen popping up from his head.
Jisung watched Jaemin’s trailer first, reaching his hand out towards his screen and pressing the play button.
Jaemin and I exchanged glances before clicking on the play button for Jisung’s 30 second trailer to begin.
While Jisung was looking at Jaemin’s trailer, I noticed a few things.
Honestly speaking, what i was seeing in the trailer didnt exactly match the person whose standing in front of me. The trailer showed a lot of moments where he smiled, eyes forming into a thin line and a scrunched up nose whenever he does. It showed him doing what I assumed to be hobbies like dancing and playing video games.
I thought about how Jisung and I have a common love for dance, something I hold dearly and thought it would be a great way to get close to him. I just have that common connection with dancers, since they know things about dance that's unique which others don't.
I only saw one group of friends around him. They seemed like the group of friends who are always chaotic and would have play fights with each other almost every second, but that was what showed me that Jisung had a close relationship with them. It was heartwarming to watch.
I also saw him trying to cook in the kitchen. I see a few of the same friends in the kitchen with him. Only one of them seemed decent in cooking while Jisung was practically clueless. It made me laugh softly. I found it cute how he’s dorky and clueless.
As i finished watching the trailer, taking into account all the moments that showed who Jisung really is, he seemed like someone i could vibe with. Someone I could possibly be my quirky crazy self like how I am around Jaemin. The person in front of me may not seem like the one in the trailer, but it made me think that he’s like me, someone who can't open up to others at first glance.
When Jaemin knews that Jisung has completed his trailer, Jaemin gave a questioning look towards him. “So how’s my trailer?”
“You’re weird, looked drunk most of the time but i assume its due to the coffee that you consume an unhealthy amount of everyday.”
Jaemin laughs nervously. “But I like you, don't worry.”
I saw Jisung’s smiling. The warm smile I saw in the trailer.
The next trailer he had to watch was mine. For some reason, I felt nervous thinking about all his possible reactions. Would he be fine with it? Would he be disgusted or irritated by the moments in my trailer. Will he not think that I would be able to make good friends with him like how I thought about him?
I guess my nervousness showed through my actions when i felt Jaemin patting the lower part of my back. I turn towards Jaemin who nodded his head to show a sign to reassurance as Jisung extended his hand to play my trailer.
Jisung’s reaction was skeptical. Some parts had him make a soft smile, which was great while other times he had a serious and judgy expression. It looked like reactions that you made while watching other people’s trailers.
30 seconds went by fast and the see through screens above our heads all dissolved into thin air at the same time. “What do you think? Wanna hang out with us more?” I brushed a few strands of hair behind my ear.
Jisung hummed softly. “Sure, looks like i'll have fun with you guys.”
Jaemin and I grin in unison. At least I finally had someone whom I might be able to consider my friend. It was too quick to assume that, but I just have a feeling and Jisung and I would get along pretty well.
As time flew by, Jisung started to get closer and closer to me and Jaemin. More so to me. After a day out where the three of us went to check out a new restaurant that just opened a few blocks away, Jisung started to invite me to go out with him alone. I felt a little bad on our days out since it meant for Jaemin to be excluded, but he was always cool with him, opting to stay in the room or hanging out with his other groups of friends.
Today on a Saturday night was no different.
“You heading out with Jisung again?” I hummed in reply as Jaemin appeared behind me. Only his chest down could be seen in the mirror in front of me as i wore my earrings while sitting down at my dressing table.
“Where to this time? You seem to be dressing up classier than usual.” Jaemin commented, brushing my hair through his hands gently as he took a good look at my outfit and makeup.
I looked at him in the mirror, letting out a soft, “I don't know.” Jaemin’s eyebrow twitches as he looked as me with suspicion.
Jaemin leaned forward, his face alighting with mine side by side. “He better not do shit to you, or else I’m killing him.” Jaemin’s eyes grew dark and his voice became low and husky. I shivered, not seeing this side of Jaemin often since I was never in a situation where he had to be protective.
I turned my head to the side and push his face away, earning a frown from Jaemin. “I’m going to fine. He said he wanted to surprise me so...” I shrugged, standing up from the dressing table and packing my essentials up in a small sling bag.
“Got any plans tonight?” I asked Jaemin as I slid my phone into my back pocket.
Jaemin bobbed his shoulders with a slight smile on his face. “I might be going out with someone.” Jaemin whispers softly, looking down and fidgeting with his feet.
I smirked widely. It was no doubt the suspicion in my mind was right. “Keep me updated on her, alright? Have fun!” I said to Jaemin as I checked the things in my sling bag one last time and winking at Jaemin playfully to which he responded with a chuckle before exiting the room.
Jisung and I have been walking down a street for awhile now. I was met with unknown shops left and right. Clearly this place was quite secluded and out of public view. Despite me exploring the town near college, it was only now that i found out this place existed thanks to Jisung.
“Just where are you taking me?” I asked with a soft laugh.
Jisung suddenly stopped in his tracks and swung his body to face me. I tilted my head at his sudden behaviour. Jisung motioned to a shop on the left. I looked towards Jisung’s direction. It didn't have a sign above it nor a window where i could see what was inside. “Come on. I’ll show you.” Jisung interlocked his fingers with mine, something we have grown to do as friends. Our friendship eventually grew to be more physical as time went on.
Jisung opened the door ahead for me, gesturing me to walk in. As i stepped inside, my mouth gaped open. The shop was filled with books. Book on shelves, on tables for display. It was like I entered paradise made for me. I flashed a wide smile over to Jisung, who tightened his grip on my hand.
“I knew how much you liked reading. So I did some research and found this place. I heard all the books have been hand picked by the owner.”
I didnt reply, only laughing in excitement as I looked around the tiny shop, immediately going to a random shelve and picking out a book that had an interesting cover.
While reading the synopsis behind a book, I whispered softly, “Why bring me here when it’s not your place of interest?”
Jisung breathed sharply as he let out a quick sigh. “I wanted to do something for you. That’s all.” Jisung replied simply, shrugging as if what he did was just a small gesture. I, however, thought it was a huge gesture. It showed me that he cared. The fact that he went to research for a place I have never heard of and would like.
“Ever heard of The Wrath and the Dawn?,” I asked, pulling it out from the shelve immediately when I recognised its spine. Jisung shook his head. I chuckle, passing the book to Jisung. He took it into his hands, not sure what to do with it.
“Read it. I know you don't like reading, but this book really changed things for me.” Jisung hummed, holding the book up in the air with a subtle smile.
I browsed through the store, quickly picking out two books that seemed interesting to me as I didn't want to bore Jisung any longer by having to put up with me checking every book in the store.
Just as I was about to take out cash from my wallet, Jisung placed a hand on mine that was in my wallet. I looked up to meet Jisung’s eyes.
“I’ll pay.”
“But you pay for everything on every single outing we went together-”
“You know you cant fight me on this. Put the wallet away.”
I pouted, making him let out a laugh as I slid my wallet back into my sling bag. He payed for the three books, two of mine and the book I recommended him to read. I took a good look at him while he had a small chat with the cashier and owner.
The way he smiled and laugh. I started to think about the times I’ve spent with Jisung. The fact that I was able to open up to him quickly and have conversations I never thought i would have after meeting someone after less than a year. The deep conversations we would have, in person or on the phone late at night while Jaemin was asleep. He saw me in states where i felt all the more cautious about. My intense breakdowns due to stress which could only be treated with Jaemin’s comfort as well as kind words that had immense impact from Jisung over the phone. We shared dark secrets as well. Looking back at these moments made me felt something I never did. It was similar to how i felt towards Jaemin, but very different.
“Quinn?” My thoughts were cut off with Jisung’s voice. I shook my head off the thoughts and proceeded to head out of the shop, offering to carry the books but of course Jisung insisted on holding them.
We decided to head back to college grounds and hang out in Jisung’s room. The place was secluded and dimly lit, only the library was opened for students who wanted to study there overnight.
“Can i ask something?” Jisung paused the video about the funny moments of Seventeen on his laptop, turning his is body to face me. “Hm?” I let out, frowning at the fact that he paused the video at my favourite part.
“Have you ever been in love?”
A question I have never had a proper encounter of it. I hugged my knees near my chest as I took a sip of iced peach tea in a can that we got from a vending machine near the cafeteria. “I don't think so? I did date Jaemin once, but we were kids and barely knew what love was.”
I let out a soft sigh, “I’m still unsure of it... even now.”
Jisung flashed me a subtle smile. I felt soothed by just that. “Never did I, either.” He pauses for a moment before continuing.
“But if I had to guess... I’d say that love is a feeling where you feel yourself wanting to be better around that particular person. You start to act so dumb around them to make them laugh and you start finding out what they like and dislike, to make sure all that person could feel were butterflies and rainbows.”
I started to think about his words. Butterflies and rainbows. Something I’ve always felt whenever I’m with Jisung. No matter what state of emotion I was in, it felt as if he knew me well and knew what to do to make me feel better. I started to find myself wanting to look better around him, dressing up to make myself more presentable as usual. I even have his Liho order etched into my mind every time we went to Liho to get milk teas.
“And you know what’s funny?”
“What?”
Jisung took in a deep breath before letting out a loud sigh, chuckling to himself as he shook his head, his blonde fringe falling down his forehead to frame his face perfectly.
“The fact that I feel all those things whenever I’m with you.”
I froze in my spot with my muscles suddenly becoming stiff. My mind went blank as his words were repeated. How do i even react? What do I say? Do i tell him I feel the same? But that would mean he thinks I like him and I should be in a relationship with him but I’m clearly not prepared for that yet.
“You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to.”
My frown deepened. I wanted to say something. I couldn’t just leave his words hanging with no proper conclusion to the conversation. It was sort of my habit to have everything laid on the table so I could get a clear look at the situation.
“I feel the same... but I’m scared of getting involved in a relationship.”
I watched as Jisung forced a smile. I knew it was forced. This smile was different from the one he would have every time he take a bite of his favourite chocolate ice cream. He nodded his head, telling me that he understood my feelings.
“I get it. We’ve only been friends for less than a year. When i watched your trailer, I had a feeling you weren’t one for relationships.”
I was about to open my mouth to speak, but my words were stuck in my throat. A second passed before I could form my sentence properly. “I mean I’m open to it but you’re kind of right. I want to give us more time.”
I heard him sigh. I could tell he was disheartened yet he’s trying his best to stay together. I felt a sharp pain in my heart as he chuckled to himself.
“It’s fine. I can wait. Just as long as I’m not waiting for nothing.”
I could purse my lips into a thin line. Slowly but surely, I brough my hand up to brush away strands of hair that covered his eyes. He lifts his eyes up, but they were unable to meet mine.
“I promise. I see myself with you in the future.”
“Quinn~” Jaemin called out to me while i was playing with my phone while laying down on my bed.
“What?” I asked, my back still facing him.
I heard Jaemin’s bed creak as he stood up to take a seat at the edge of my bed. He gently places a hand on my head and caress my hair. I turned my body and looked up to face him, obviously weirded out by how nice he was being.
“Are you seriously babying me so that I would go to the frat party?” I rolled my eyes. Jaemin’s intentions were always too obvious whenever he gets all soft and sweet with me.
As Jaemin is my best friend, I knew his habits. One of them being that if I didn't agree with him on something, he would pamper me as much as possible as a way to convince me with anything that was on his mind. And with his puppy dog eyes and cuteness, you could imagine how hard it was for me not to fall for his trap.
“Yes, yes I am.” I gave Jaemin a look of disinterest. He knows I dislike going to parties. And he knows how hard it is to persuade me to go. Yet he never gave up. The next thing he said however, intrigued me immediately and started to take his idea into consideration.
“Jisung’s gonna be there.” Jaemin shrugged, trying to act nonchalant but I knew he was thinking about how he’s winning me over. I blinked my eyes once as i gave a blank expression. I then pouted my lips and sat up straight. Jaemin’s eyes literally sparkled the moment I did so.
“When is it?” I heaved a sigh in defeat, rubbing my face with my right hand. “This Sunday.” Jaemin answered immediately out of excitement.
Though I had my focus on the conversation with Jaemin, my mind also wondered off to thinking about food. I was seriously craving take out right now. “It’ll be fun! Come on, we’ve just finished out exams. You’ve been stressed enough. You should go out more.” Jaemin added on.
While listening to Jaemin talk, I opened the app Grab Food on my phone. As i scrolled through the different places near the college and browsing through different menus, Jaemin let out a quick, “Plus, it was Jisung’s idea to invite you.”
“Did he now?”
Jaemin hummed as he leaned near me to have a peek of my phone. “Take out?” He asked, with his tone was bright and happy. I nodded my head.
“We seriously think so alike.” I gave Jaemin a subtle smile before Jaemin and I ended up looking through the menus together. While Jaemin decided on what to order, I couldn't help but feel somewhat nervous about the party on Sunday. Would I really be fine? I’ll have Jaemin, though I assume he can't be around me 24/7 due to his social nature. The only hope I had that would best help me get through the night was Jisung.
Jaemin and I entered the frat party. And I already hate it here. I wasn't even five steps in when a stranger hands me a red plastic cup filled with beer. The huge crowd and very limited space, the loud banging music, though I only appreciate listening to them on my earphones and the amount of talking and screaming that filled the room. Of course it had to be topped off with the reeking smell of alcohol.
“I’ll find Jisung for you, alright? I’m going to meet my hockey friends after.” Jaemin said, keeping his arm around you shoulder to make sure you were close and protected near him.
I only nodded nervously. I honestly wished I could just magically vanish myself out of here and in the room with a book. But I never want to disappoint Jaemin by leaving the party that he tried so desperately for me to come, so I made a clear decision in my head to put up with it and prayed that nothing would happen to me.
Jaemin kept me very close as we walked through the crowd, people bumping into at every direction. “Jisung-ah!” Jaemin shouted. Jisung didn’t seem to hear his call. He was about to shout again when out of nowhere, one of Jaemin’s friends pulled him away from me. I opened my mouth, wanting to call out to him but he soon disappeared into the crowd. I did however see his hand waving up high above the crowd and giving me a hand sign of a phone to signal me to call him if anything happened.
I groaned and rolled my eyes, looking down at the cup of beer in my hands. Shrugging, I took a small sip. I wasn't much of a drinker, but tonight - tonight was the only exception, using alcohol as a way to release the pent up stress that have been bottling up inside me during the exams.
“Hi!” I suddenly heard. I turned my back to see who it was. Oh no, was all i thought as I stared at the girl whom I dislike. The girl who broke Jaemin’s heart.
“Hey, Ji A” I mumbled back. I tried to give her a half-smile. I felt myself tensing up at the thought of starting a conversation with someone I held a slight grudge against.
“What do you think of the party?” I blinked at her. I kept quiet for a moment before answering with a soft. “It’s fine.”
I was about to burst if she ever think she can hold a conversation with me right now. She knew very well what she did to Jaemin, as well as the fact that I’m his best friend. I couldn't get how she could act as if nothing happened in the past and putting it all behind her like it meant nothing and did not result in a single impact on her.
“I was thinking about asking you if you wanna-”
“Hey, baby.” I heard the familiar voice that made me let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Baby? That’s definitely a first.
I felt Jisung’s arm slide around my waist swiftly as he pulled me close. I would be lying if I said that my heart didn’t quickened as butterflies started fluttering in the bottom of my stomach. I only prayed that my cheeks were not blushing a bright pink. To make matters worse, Jisung leaned down to plant a quick kiss on the side of my eye as he fakely smiled towards Ji A.
“You need another drink, don’t you?” I looked up at Jisung, slightly confused. As he raised his eyebrows and jerked his head slightly, I immediately received his signal that told me to play along as he sent some telepathy message that he was trying to save me from my uncomfortable situation with Ji A. “Uh... y-yeah of course.”
“Sorry but please excuse us. We’re going to be a little busy upstairs soon.”
I wasn't sure if this was the real Jisung, or the alcohol that I assumed he has consumed to be talking. I was definitely shocked by how bold he was since he has always seemed to be the shy type to me.
Ji A looked at us with a smug face, clicking her tongue and huffing in amusement. “Sure, go ahead, Have fun.” She said with annoyance before walking away with her arms folded. Jisung kept his hand on my waist, not to tightly nor loosely either as he led me to a space in the house that was away fro the large crowd that was gathering for who knows what reason.
“You seem to not like that girl.” Jisung bent down to whispered near my ear in an attempt to overpower the loud music in the background. I pursed my lips into a thin line and hummed. “If there’s anyone I would throw under a bus, it would be her.”
Jisung replied with a smile and a chuckle. “I know you have plenty of other people you would like to do that to.” And it was true. Due to my judgy nature, I would judge anyone that came into my sight. And if i sensed that I didn’t like their attitude, I would never fail to whisper to Jisung or Jaemin that i dislike them at first glance.
“Did you drink?” I asked Jisung, noticing how his breath reeked of beer yet he was his usual self. “Yeah. Had a few but I have a high tolerance.” My mouth formed an ‘ah’ as i nodded.
Out of the blue, Jisung spun my around, this time placing both his hands on my waist as my body was now facing his. Not to mention there wasn't a single inch of space between our chests’.
“You look cute whenever you’re pissed.”
I rolled my eyes, faking my exasperation. “Ho ho wanna see some real annoyance?” I raised both my eyebrows as I gave Jisung an intimidating smile. Jisung shook his head, looking down before matching my gaze with his again. “Please save that for tomorrow.”
I laughed softly. Jisung then looked around the house, as if trying to find someone. He lets out a soft “Ah. Found them.” I hummed as I looked around as well, wondering who he found.
Jisung released on hand from my waist and walked me over to a group of guys. My vision only became clear when the crowd that was blocking my view went away, revealing Jaemin as well as his group of hockey friends. I smiled at the familiar faces before me as they all shouted my name and urged Jisung and I to seat with them.
“You know them?”
Jisung only shrugged, taking a seat beside Mark and gesturing me to sit down next to him. “I met them through Jaemin.” I looked over to Jaemin, who was laughing hysterically and punching Winwin’s arm, who immediately turned to him to fight back. Clearly they were drunk. I wasn’t surprised at all.
I laughed when I turned my attention over to Jaehyun, the guy in my Psychology class. The way he only sat there, unbothered by the chaos surrounding him radiated couldn’t care less energy.
“You guys seem pretty drunk.” I commented.
Jaehyun chuckled lowly and tilted his head to Jaemin and Winwin who were fighting, eventually having Lucas joining in as well, along with Taeyong trying his best to keep the situation at bay but has soon given up. “You think?”
I let out a long sigh as the little sips of alcohol I have been taking from the moment I stepped in until now started to kick in. My head started to get dizzy as my vision became slightly blurred.
I lay my head down on Jisung’s shoulder. I felt Jisung’s eyes on me. “You need to go to a room or something?” Jisung whispered. I frowned.
“You think i should?” I mumbled softly with my head turning in multiple directions to find a comfortable position on the crook of Jisung’s neck. I breathed in his scent. You would think his body smelt like alcohol but his perfume was still standing strong, putting me at ease.
Jisung tightened his grip around ms, pulling me closer so that my body layed comfortably on his.
I could tell that the others, especially Jaemin were worried about me when he shouted a, “Bro she good?” to Jisung.
“She can use my room if you wan-“
“I’ll take her back to her room.” Jisung cut Jaehyun off. My eyes were now half opened as I saw Jaemin tossing the room key to Jisung, who caught it swiftly.
“Take care of her.” Was the last thing I heard before fully closing my eyes and passing out.
I woke up, taking awhile to process my surroundings due to the banging in my head from all the alcohol. As I took into consideration the items and furniture of the room, I quickly concluded that I was in Jisung’s room. Jisung, however, was nowhere to be seen.
I patted my hands at the space around me, desperately trying to find my phone. I eventually found it within the covers, pulling it out and looking at the time on my lockscreen. 4:16 AM. I stared at the time. Where was Jisung at this timing? Could he still be at the party?
I tried recalling what happened before I passed out and remembered that Jisung was about to bring me to his room. So what i remembered was practically useless and didn’t benefit me in knowing Jisung’s current location. Great.
I groaned as I pressed a hand on my head, praying to God that my headache would come to an end soon. Though I highly doubt that as I knew from my past experiences of getting drunk that it takes me a very long time to sober up, meaning that I predicted that I would be in a hangover for quite some time.
I heard the door open. My eyes remained on the bedsheets as I assumed it was Jisung who entered the room. My assumption was soon proven wrong when I heard the sound of high heels clacking against the wooden floor, the sound coming closer and closer to me.
I looked up and tried my best to adjust my vision as I squinted my eyes. The figure, poster and clothes. Without a doubt, it was Ji A.
“So he left you here with the door unlocked and no one protecting you? Not surprised.”
“What?” I whispered, raising an eyebrow at Ji A. Just what was she doing here? How did she know where Jisung’s room was? What does she want from me?
“Hey. Lemme tell you one thing while I can tell you’re still hungover.” Ji A placed her weight on one leg as she puts a hand on her waist. I started feeling irritated again, but I was way too weak to even bother putting up a fight.
Ji A bent down to meet my eye level. The signature smirk that lit a fire in me appeared on her lips as her eyes looking down on me unsympathetically.
“You ever wonder why Jisung has been way too nice to you? How he was been nothing but perfect in the way he treated you and how you two just never seem to have gotten into a fight once in your single year of friendship?”
I used one hand to rub my face. What is Ji A going on about?
I took in a deep breath. “I’m sorry?”
“Buckle up, honey. All the butterflies and rainbows you have been experiencing with him will all be ruined by a storm he’ll be sending in not too long from now.” I heard Ji A chuckle in a devil-like manner.
As I started to process her words, my thoughts became clear and my suspicion started to peak. “The fuck are you talking about, Ji A?” I asked as I cleared my throat. I didn’t get a reply as I watch her laugh and leaving the room.
I scratched my head furiously as I tried digging further into her words to find the true meaning behind it. Was she trying to threaten me? What “storm” was Jisung about to bring upon me? As more questions filled my mind, I found it too much for my hungover state to take in. I ended up falling asleep after looking at my phone meaninglessly.
I felt a finger or two gliding over my jawline. My eyes were closed but I immediately sensed that Jisung was sitting at the edge of the bed. I fluttered my eyes open as Jisung came into my view.
“Sweetheart, how you feeling?” Jisung asked in his gentle, calming voice that always helped to soothe me. Oddly this time, it didn’t. And I knew it was because of the weird encounter I had with Ji A before I went back to sleep.
I sat up from bed weakly, falling back slightly but having Jisung hold me up and I shook my head, placing my hand on the back of my neck.
“Hey, you need to rest.” Jisung said, trying to put my body back down on the bed but I fought back. Ji A’s words about Jisung started to repeat itself in my head. Out of pure distrust that I suddenly developed towards Jisung, I pushed him away and forced myself to stand up.
I saw Jisung standing up and holding his hands out, getting ready to catch me in case I fall while I staggered to the door. “Get back in bed. I bought hangover soup for you-“
“Just...” I placed my hand on the doorknob, turning my head around to face Jisung who had an extremely worried look on his face. “Just get away from me.” I whispered, twisting the doorknob and pushing the door.
I headed out of Jisung’s room and made my way over to mine. Before I could open my door, I heard Jisung’s footsteps coming towards me as he stopped me with a hand on my wrist. “What’s wrong? D-did something happen?” Jisung stuttered, surprised by my sudden attitude towards him.
I yanked his hand off me and opened the door, seeing Jaemin on his bed with widened eyes as he saw my weak body at the door. He rushed over to me. “Quinn? Jisung...”
“Get the hell out of my sight, Jisung.” I raised my voice ever so slightly. Jaemin heard my words and furrowed his eyebrows towards Jisung.
“The fuck did you do to her?” Jaemin asked, his tone growing dark and intimidating.
“I-I dont know she just woke up and told me to back off-“
“I’m finding out what you did to her. And once I do, it’s game over for you.” Jaemin threatened Jisung as he brought me in by supporting my body with his hand around my waist and closing the door quietly in consideration of the state I was in.
Jaemin carried me to my bed and placed me down gently. I rubbed my eyes with my hands as I looked up to Jaemin, who had his arms folded and standing still.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Jaemin asked, his voice becoming soft and gentle as he took a seat on my bed. I sat up from the bed and placed my head on his lap, my head digging into his chest.
“Not now... please.” My voice got muffle as tears started to flow out of my eyes. As much as I want to hide it, my body didn’t let me. Jaemin felt his shirt getting wet and immediately started to caress my head slowly, letting out a soft, “Sh sh..” to calm me down. I continued to sob and cry as I got vulnerable in Jaemin’s embrace, eventually crying myself to sleep, wanting to forget everything that happened before and needing to rest my mind for at least a few hours.
I woke up once again. This time, the sunlight that shined through the thin curtains of the room made me wince as I looked at my surroundings which has now became fully clear.
I realised I was still laying my head on Jaemin’s lap. I noticed how he was in an uncomfortable position with his back against the wall and his head hanging downwards. I sat up and poked his shoulder in an attempt to wake him up. Luckily it worked and Jaemin rubbed his eyes before fully opening them and looking at the side to face me.
“Your eyes are all puffy, love.” Jaemin said with a subtle smile, reaching his hand out and gently brushing his thumb over the bottom of my eyes. I chuckled softly. “Did I cry that much last night?” Jaemin nodded. I let out a long sigh.
“Care to tell me what happened last night with Jisung?” Jaemin motioned me to get close to him. I got near and wrapped my arms around him as I was indulged in his cuddles. “I was at Jisung’s room. I don't know why he wasn’t there, but suddenly Ji A came into the room.”
I could tell Jaemin was taken aback since he didn’t give an immediate reply. “Ji A?” He finally spoke. I hummed in reply. Jaemin clicked his tongue and kept silent. He was thinking about his past relationship with Ji A but still signaled me to continue the story.
“For some reason, she threatened me. She said that my relationship with Jisung is going to get wrecked soon. I don't know what she meant by that.” Jaemin eyes started to fill with anger as I felt him balling his first against my shirt. Though he tried to stay calm and wanting to make me feel better is his top priority , I could tell he was furious. “The bitch really did that?” Jaemin muttered, running a hand through his hair.
“Wait how did she even know where Jisung’s room was?” I suddenly question as I started to get deep in my thoughts. That fact was odd, but the answer was obvious. “Those two probably knew each other.” Jaemin quickly replied.
Does a 30 second trailer really tell me everything I need to know about a person? That question started to resonate in my head now that I thought of what Jisung could be doing. I started to think whether is actions were pure and sincere. Could there be a hidden agenda as to why he’s been oh so nice to me just like Ji A said? She could have told me that just to make me feel insecure. But at the same time, what if it was true?
“Tell me what to do, Nana. I seriously don't know what to think right now.” I whined to Jaemin, whose face was as still stern and scary after I mentioned Ji A.
“Maybe act normal around him first, like nothing happened. While I go spying on him and Ji A.” Jaemin said with a wide smirk. I immediately laughed, giving him a light smack on his chest. “You can’t be serious.” I said back, shaking my head.
Jaemin furrowed his eyebrows and pouted. “Hello! We can’t ask Jisung straight up. We need to be discreet.” Jaemin jokes. I swear Jaemin could make me laugh at his dorkiness in any situation.
“I might just ignore him, to be honest. I’ve been hanging out with him too much. I want to spend more time with you.” I said, reaching my hand out to ruffle Jaemin’s perfectly soft hair.
Jaemin gave me a few pats on my back. “Good that you’ve realised it now. I’ve been lonely without you.” I gave a subtle yet sincere smile.
-
I cocked an eyebrow at Jaehyun’s words. What is he even thinking?
Jaehyun leaned in close, looking around to check if anyone’s watching. “Jisung keeps pressuring me to tell you to talk to him and I know you’re avoiding him but I can’t take it no more.” He grumbled. I placed a hand on my forehead and let out a long sigh. “Tell him to give up.” was all I said as I heard the professor slamming the door shut and getting everyone’s attention in a matter of seconds.
A week has passed now without Jisung. And although I have Jaemin with me, it felt like I was missing something. It just didn’t feel right with him around. Being away from him made me look at the big picture. I’m deeply in love with him. I could deny that fact all I want but I’ll never be able to get away from it. I missed every part of him. His scent, laughter, smiles, the way I felt so right with him. But I also thought of my trust towards Jisung that was slowly deteriorating. I’ve been receiving constant texts and calls from Jisung, but I didn't reply, only using my anger as a way to keep myself from replying to his texts or picking up his calls.
“Yo your guy here is starving and craving Subway.” Jaemin shouted out while laying on his bed. I was in deep concentration while in a PUBG Mobile match. “Order us something, will you? I’m kinda busy.” I muttered.
“I was thinking of buying it downstairs. I need to walk around a little.” Jaemin stood up from his bed and stretched out his arms, groaning in the process. “Yeah sure, have fun.”
Jaemin went over to my bed and take a peek of my phone. “Okay firstly, why didn’t you invite me? Secondly, you know I’m not going without you. Come on.” He suddenly said, grabbing onto my arm and dragging me out while I was still concentrated in the match.
As Jaemin and I walked down the halls to get to food area where there were different fast food shops, including Subway, my eyes were kept on the screen as I feel Jaemin’s eyes on me and my phone, watching the match intensively.
“Oi! Kill him!” Jaemin shouted and constantly tapped my shoulder.
“I’m trying, idiot!” I shouted back. I realised we were already at Subway as Jaemin pushed the door open for me, his eyes still glued on my screen.
I quickly took a random seat that faced the door while Jaemin sat next to me. “Ah fuck!” I screamed, not too loud as I didn’t want the other customers to look at me as I died in the match.
Jaemin and I groaned at the same time as I slammed my phone on the table while Jaemin shaked his head.
“You can never win without me now can you?” Jaemin said with a cunning smirk. I punched his shoulder. “Shut up.”
“Alright, hurry up. Invite me.” Jaemin said. I looked down at his phone to see that he was already in the app. “Damn, you’re quick.” Jaemin shrugged nonchalantly.
While Jaemin and I started the match and were playing together, I heard the door open. I didn’t really thought anything about it until I saw a figure at that was unrecognisable from my point of view. I took a quick look at the person, not thinking who it was and assumed it was a stranger. “Sorry this table’s taken.” I said simply.
“How long are you going to keep ignoring me, Quinn?”
Jaemin and I shot our heads up at the same time, knowing that familiar voice belonged to Jisung. He had a really concerned look in his eyes with a small frown. Jaemin scoffed, putting his phone down and leaning in with his elbows against the table. “She doesn’t want to see you. I’m sure she’s made that pretty clear.”
I placed my phone screen faced down on the table, unable to meet Jisung’s eyes. “No. I have to talk to her. Quinn please.” Jisung pleaded with soft eyes. I glanced over to Jaemin who bobbed his shoulders as a way to tell me it was my decision to talk to him or not. I let out a long sigh and nodded reluctantly.
Jisung placed his hand on my wrist and dragged me out. I took on one last look at Jaemin who mouthed out, “Be careful, love.” i could only take a deep breath as Jisung dragged me to a secluded seating area.
Jisung sat me down and sat on the opposite side. He had his arms interlocked on the table while i tapped my hands on my thighs. “Please tell me why you’re doing this to me..” Jisung whispered.
I glanced at another direction before gathering up courage to look at Jisung. Fuck those eyes. The sweet eyes of Jisung that could mesmerise anyone if he wanted to. “What are you and Ji A?” I asked sternly.
“We’re just friends, mere acquaintances.” Jisung immediately replied with no hesitation.
“Then how did she know where was your room?”
Jisung opened his mouth to reply but not a single sound came out for a moment.
“I’m sorry?”
“I woke up in your room. You were nowhere to be seen. The door was unlocked and Ji A came in. She fucking threatened me saying that my relationship with you would go bad.”
“I- wait how did she-”
“Please don’t act. Stop all this bullshit you’re trying to pull.” I cut Jisung off.
I exhaled sharply. “Your 30 second trailer. Was it even real? What are you hiding from me?”
Jisung puffed his chest a little before running a hand down his face. “I...” I waited impatiently for him to gather the words he needed to explain what was about to be said next that completely shocked me.
“I made a bet with Ji A during a party. She said I have to make you fall for me to prove that I’m capable of being in a relationship.”
My mouth practically could fit a whole burger at how large it gaped open as I scoffed in astonishment. I slammed both my hands down on the table that was placed on my thighs before.
“So what? I was just some bet to you? I didn’t mean two fucks to you, huh? I should have known. You were too nice from the start. Fuck you. Gosh I didn’t know it was possible to lie in your trailer.” I said, adding a hint of sarcasm at the end.
“Wait Quinn please calm down I can explain-”
“You already did. I’ve known enough.” I stood up from my seat and took a full ninety degree turn to find Jaemin right in front of me, looking towards Jisung with angered eyes.
Jaemin rushed over to Jisung and grabbed him by his collar, lifting him up slightly from his seat. I tried pulling Jaemin away, only wanting to get away from Jisung but Jaemin pushed me back. “A bet? You played my best friend friend just for a bet to keep your pride? God you’re low.” Jaemin pushed Jisung back down on his seat violently.
Jaemin leaned in, his hands firm on the table as Jisung backed himself away ever so slightly.
“Stay the fuck away from Quinn here on out. You fucked up, big time. Don’t show up in front of us ever again. You don’t deserve her at all.” Jaemin gave Jisung a clear and taunted warning before grabbing me by the wrist and walking us away.
Jaemin doesn’t say a word when Jaemin walked us back to our room, immediately closing the door in front of us. “He’s a dickhead for doing that to you.” He muttered and he quickly sat down on his bed. I walked over and sat on mine, heaving out a long sigh. “Are you gonna cry again?” I heard Jaemin ask. I shook my head.
“I’m done crying. I feel pissed. Can I somehow constantly slam his tongue on a car door?” Jaemin couldn’t help but laugh. “It’ll be more fun to slam his head against the wall.” He added. The two of us laughed but the room grew quiet quickly.
“Wait isn’t our trailer suppose to show our true intentions we have with the person watching it? How did I miss such a huge thing?” I asked Jaemin.
“I’ve heard a rumour of people altering their trailers. I never thought people actually do it.” Jaemin inhaled and exhaled sharply.
“Fuck it. I just don’t want to see him anymore. End of year exams are coming. I can’t let shit like this get in the way.” I said with determination. Jaemin nodded.
-
The end of the year soon came. Our results were handed out this week and we could finally have some break time for Christmas. Students were allowed to leave college and celebrate with their families. However, for me and Jaemin, we decided to stay together this Christmas, opting to video call our loved ones to keep in touch.
“This place is so creepy with not many people here.” Jaemin spoke as we decided to walk around the college campus for the fun of it.
I shoved my hands into my padded jacket, letting out a sigh as smoke came out of my mouth. It was very cold this winter, but it seemed that snow has yet to fall. “I’m so glad we’re done for this year.” I whispered.
“Two more years till we graduate.” I added, looking at the shops that were closed and noticed that only the vending machine was working.
“Please don’t tell me-”
“Let’s go ghost hunting!” I laughed out loudly as I walked over to the vending machine. “Very funny, Jaemin.” I took out a one dollar coin from my wallet and placed in in the slot of the vending machine. Pressing on the drink I wanted, I waited for it to be dispensed.
I soon heard the canned drink and pick it up from the bottom slot. I looked at Jaemin who was staring at my drink. I shoved it towards his chest. “Open it.” Jaemin smiled and cracked open the top, drinking down a few gulps before handing the drink back to me.
“When do you think the snow is coming?” I asked Jaemin. I’ve always been fond of snow ever since I was little, playing in the snow by myself was what I did everyday.
Jaemin only shrugged and looked up into the sky. I did the same as well. “I’ll pray that it’ll come soon for you.”
I reached my hand out and ruffled his hair. “A thoughtful prince indeed.” I said with a subtle smile.
“Oh wait! What happened with the girl you were talking to back then?” I asked as the thought suddenly popped up in my mind. In the midst of whatever was happening between Jisung and I as well as the exams, I completely forgot about it.
“Eh I don’t like her. She’s not like you.” Jaemin shrugged nonchalantly.
“Your girlfriend isn’t suppose to be like me.” I commented.
“They say your significant other should have the same qualities as your best friend so that you two can click immediately.”
I shook my head. “Yeah, yeah.” I waved my hand in the air lazily.
“Hey guys..” I suddenly heard. Jaemin and I turned around, taking in a deep breathe in unison.
“Jisung.” Jaemin greeted with an uninterested look. Jisung bowed his head slightly at Jaemin before turning to me. “I thought you went out of college.”
“Oh no my family’s busy this Christmas so I can’t visit them.” I simply nodded my head. “Besides the point so anyways, can I talk to you, alone?” I looked to Jaemin, somewhat wanting to ask for his approval. Jaemin glared at Jisung before letting out a quiet sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Go ahead.” Jaemin said with a tone of defeat.
Jisung pulled me by my the edge of my padded jacket as Jaemin soon left my view. “What is it that you want, Jisung?” I finally asked.
Jisung didn’t answer and only stared into my eyes. I raised an eyebrow. “If you aren’t going to say something-”
“I’ve been wanting to talk to you, Quinn. I have been wanting to talk to you but with exams and all I didn’t want to bother you.” I watched as he pursed his lips into a thin line. “So now that exams are over you came to bother me?” I asked with a hint of sarcasm. Jisung shook his head furiously.
“Have you heard of the rumour about the first snowfall?” I sighed, shaking my head as I start to think about what he’s going on about.
“They say...” Jisung started as he took out my hands from my pockets and holding them dearly in his hands. I looked up to look at Jisung but found that he was admiring my hands, gently brushing his thumb over the back of my hand.
“They say that if you’re with the person you like in the first snowfall, it signified love and fate, symbolising that true love will blossom.”
I bit my bottom lip as my mind slowly went back to the times I’ve spent with Jisung. It would be a understatement to say that I’ve been reminiscing my past when Jisung was a big part of my life. Although my mind back then was concentrated on the exams, Jisung has always been somehow hidden away and never forgotten in the fold of my thoughts.
“I’ve heard of it.” I whispered, unable to meet Jisung’s eyes when he lifted his head up.
Jisung took in a deep breath. “I’m sorry for what happened. At first, I only got into your life because of the bet. But I truly did fell in love with you the more I got to know you and spent time with you. And I still am. I’m still in love with you. It pained me everyday when you avoided me and hated my guts. I’m just sorry for everything.” Jisung confessed. I felt a lump in my throat as I couldn’t make up an answer to give right away. “S-so what are you going to do about it?” I asked.
Jisung slowly took a step closer, closing the gap between us as he leaned in towards my face, our noses barely touching and our lips so close. And then, it happened naturally, Jisung connected his lips with mine, pulling me into the softest kiss ever that was filled with passion and care. It took me awhile to process what was happening before moving my lips in sync with his and closing my eyes.
As if this scene came out of a fairy tale, I felt something falling onto my head. I opened my eyes slightly as I continued to kiss Jisung, realising that snow has fallen onto us. The first snowfall.
Jisung pulled his lips away from mine as we both stared up into the sky, watching as the snow continued to fell. Jisung smiled softly as we both looked down to meet each other’s gaze.
“I love you, Quinn. Please be mine.” Jisung whispered softly as he got close to lean his forehead against mine. I bite the side of my cheek as I looked into his eyes, taking in the moment of silence to admire the person I dearly missed. “Don’t make me regret it.” I whispered back, taking the initiative to place my lips on Jisung’s to once again feel his sincere love.

Part III: Birthday Surprise
Author’s Notes: The plot and setting may look familiar to you guys in this. I mixed Abby’s trip with Owen with Joel’s trip with Ellie. While I could have made the museum romantic, I figured the Aquarium was more so. Also, this takes place several months after the 2nd chapter. To help imagery, it is late Autumn/fall. It’s cold and flurries of snow fall but not a full fledged winter yet.
Genre: Fluff
Summary: It’s your birthday and Joel has a surprise for you. Despite being distant with him, you decide to go along and feed into your feelings for him. If you were waiting for cute, romantic Joel, this is it. This is the beginning.
Ship: Joel x Reader
Joel has loved you since he made the choice to leave the hospital with you in his arms. That was when he admitted it to himself at least. He constantly tried doing little things to make you feel better, especially after having a fight. Sometimes, that just meant giving you space. He held on tight to the moments he got to have with you that did not involve you bringing up the incident. In those moments, he caught a glimpse of what life could be like with you and he had a strong desire for that. All he wanted to do was protect you and forget about the Fireflies.
The day before your birthday, you responded to a knock on your door only to find a wood carved version of your horse with a note attached sitting on the ground. You could tell it was from Joel by his handwriting. It explained that he had a surprise for you and it involved an early start. It was your birthday, so your positive disposition allowed you to accept his surprise.
He wasn’t kidding when he said early start. Joel was at your door knocking before sunrise. You groaned before lazily throwing your legs over the bed. He knocked again with more force before you made it to the door. He wished you a happy birthday before walking into your makeshift living room. Your eyes were tired, but you gave him a smile nonetheless when you thanked him. He sat on the couch, rubbing his hands together in front of your space heater while he waited for you to get dressed. Apparently, the surprise involved a hike to get there so you dressed in layers.
By the time the two of you made it past the gate with your horses, the sun had begun to rise. It was not often that you got up while it was still dark. Sunsets were more of your thing. Watching the sun rise, however, was a different kind of beautiful. The sky turned brighter shades of blue as the two of you rode through unbeaten paths. At one point, the woods became too thick for the horses and you two had to start hiking. Joel secured both of the animals before guiding you in the direction of the surprise.
“Alright, c’mon.” Joel said.
“I’m going to start guessing now.” You stated.
“You want to spoil your surprise?” He asked.
“I’ve held out long enough.” You responded. “Is it an alien crash site?”
“Stop trying to guess. I ain’t tellin’ you.” He said with his back to you.
“Okay.” You let silence fall between you before guessing again. “So is it a nice, new car? With heated seats and one of those tvs that hang from the ceiling to watch movies on?”
He sighed playfully. “You’re not gonna guess.” You fell quiet, trying to think of something even more outrageous. The two of you approached a ledge as the path grew narrower. Joel pushed back a bare branch to give you just enough room to scoot by without falling over the edge. “Mind your step.” He warned as he gestured for you to go first.
The walkway was so narrow that there was no other choice but for your backside to brush up against Joel’s body as you walked past him. You took it slow as to mind your step. He was so close, you could feel his breath on the back of your neck. Back in the day, you would have used this opportunity to flirt with him just to watch his face go red. After safely making it passed, you did the same for him and held the branch down while he walked across.
“Fuck it, I’m done guessing.” You spoke up, filling the air with sound.
“Oh, good.” He replied.
“But really though, is it a movie or something?” You got really excited before he could answer. “Don’t tell me you found some old abandoned theater and dusted off the projector and somehow figured out how to power it back up.”
“Um, no.” He said, slight disappointment in his voice. “Would you have liked that?”
“I would like anything you give me, Joel.” You replied genuinely. After a few more minutes of walking, the two of you come upon a clearing riddled with frozen over puddles. In the middle of it all was a huge temple front building. You approached the steps ahead of Joel. “Is this it?” You asked with a smile on your face. You didn’t quite know what it was, but having earned an art history degree, you had a penchant for big, old buildings.
He nodded. “Yes.”
You run up the steps like Rocky during his famous training scene in Philly. The grand doors had a faded logo painted on. It appeared to be of a dolphin and a whale swimming together like the Pisces sign. You waited for Joel to catch up with you before opening the doors. He watched as you made your way inside the large lobby. There was an enormous whale hanging from the ceiling with two grand staircases on either side leading to separate wings. The dead remnants of overgrown plants decorated the dark blue walls. As you walked closer to the information desk in the middle of the room, snow began to fall from the ceiling. You looked up and noticed that part of the roof was missing. It looked dilapidated rather than the result of an attack. It allowed in the only source of light, bouncing off the walls to cast a grayish-blue atmosphere. As you made your way further in, you found a mural on the wall of different aquatic animals.
“I think this is one of those zoos but for fish.” Joel quipped.
“Shut up.” You said playfully. He chuckled.
You walked up the stairs and immediately became attracted to a room with a shark head adorning the doorway. You headed in that direction first, but Joel warned you not to. You asked why, barely giving him the time to answer before you ignored his plea and continued to the door. It looked like a lounge room for adults. The walls were really just floor-to-ceiling windows. It gave an amazing view of the small lake behind the building. There was a bar, a large tv and multiple couches. You made your way around one couch and realized why he didn’t want you to go in the room. A skeleton, mostly decomposed, was lying on it, resting, waiting.
“I didn’t want to move the body.” Joel spoke up. “He looked too comfortable.” He referred to the pillow behind the skeleton’s back and the blanket draped over the legs. You notice a piece of paper lying on his lap; his boney fingers keeping it in place. “(Y/N), no.” Joel protested as he watched you reach for it.
“If it wasn’t meant to be read, then it wouldn’t have been written.” You responded. The paper had all kinds of stains on it, most likely from the decomposition of the body. The writing was faded and barely legible. “ ‘I’m taking Max away from here. He can’t spend his life inside this rotting building. All he’ll do is take on your weaknesses. I want Max to see what it looks like when people are willing to stand up for what they want. The world is harsh. It’s up to us to change it. Maybe we’ll come back someday. If we do, I hope you’re not still sitting in your stupid, fucking chair’. Wow. His kids ran off and left him.”
“Jesus.” Joel mustered.
The two of you go back downstairs and eventually find a doorway shrouded by dead vines. You pushed passed them, holding open a space for Joel to follow. Painted in large white letters are the words “Max’s place”. On the other side of the doors was the gift shop. You guessed that Max used this as his room while his family stayed there. Joel let you look around the pamphlets and trinkets. He watched on with a wide grin before he beckoned you over to the open elevator.
“C’mon over here.” He said.
You approached the opening and looked down. “If I knew you’d brought me out here to kill me by pushing me down this shaft, I would have stayed home”.
“I’m not gonna kill you, darlin’, but we are going down.”
“You’re joking.” You said flatly.
“Nope.” He popped the “P” sound playfully as he climbed onto the ladder against the elevator shaft. He held out his hand for you to take. “It’ll be ok.”
“It better be.” You whined. He took your hand and guided it onto a rung. He began to climb down and you followed.
He jumped off the ladder first, causing the elevator wires to shake. It made you nervous but you persevered. You gently hopped off the ladder onto the elevator roof and followed Joel through the opening of the new floor. It was very dark save from the light coming through the glass windows. You were in the basement level because there was nothing but water on the other side of them. You walked up to the plaques in front of them and read about the animals that were no longer there. You wondered if they’d been hunted or simply died when there was no one left to take care of them. Joel stayed until you were done reading. He followed you around the corner and stopped in front of a large fort made of cardboard boxes. It had a child’s touch as it was painted over with cartoonish figures.
“Solid fort, Max.” You said.
Joel approached the entrance. “Ladies first.” He held the flaps open. You got on your hands and knees to crawl through.
“Oh my God, Joel!” You exclaimed in a breathy tone. “You gotta see this! Have you seen this?”
He nodded. You turned to him in disappointment. “I had to secure the place before I showed it to you. ‘Sides, it’s your surprise, not mine.”
“How did you find this place?”
“I found it a few months back when it was warmer. I was on patrol with Nick. We came in from back where the lake is.” Joel explained.
“This place is beautiful, Joel.” You said, almost in a whisper. The room that you had entered was semi-circular and it was all glass. Even below your feet was glass. You couldn’t lie, it scared you for a moment. You were taken off guard when a small school of fish swam by underneath you. “Joel! Did you see that?”
“I sure did.” He replied with a smile. Through the algae and seaweed covering the windows, light peeked through and projected a dark blue glow. As the water on the other side moved, so did it's reflection on your skin. Joel gazed at the sight before him. You looked ethereal and it damn near took his breath away. He watched as your eyes filled with wonder. It was the purest thing he’d seen since the world fell apart. He allowed himself to gaze at you a few moments longer before he slid his backpack off his shoulders. “Now, this took a mighty great effort to find.” He said to get your attention. You turned around as he reached into his backpack. He pretended to dig around to prolong the suspense.
You rolled your eyes. “Joel!”
He chuckled. “Okay, okay. Here.” He pulled out a light brown ukulele. “Happy birthday, (Y/N).” He watched as your face broke into a smile. It was a wholesome experience and it made him warm inside.
She whispered a thank you and took the ukulele. “I can’t believe you remembered. You said that you’d teach me how to play the guitar and I said--”
“You said you didn’t want to play the guitar. You wanted to learn how to play the ukulele and I said I didn’t know if I could help you with that.”
You looked up at him and met his eyes. “But you said you’d try.”
He took a step closer and watched as you fiddled with the strings. You experimented with the sound of each one before making up a little, silly tune. It was not perfect, in fact it was far from it. Still, you enjoyed playing. You even did a little dance as you plucked the strings. You twirled around and caught a glimpse of a shadow. You knew it wasn’t Joel; it moved too fast. The high pitched sound of the ukulele faded out as you stepped up to the glass. There it was again! Was it a large fish? It was too small to be a dolphin. What could survive in this cold water? You watched and waited. Joel came up behind you and did the same. A seal swam out from its hiding place and swam up to you. It's big black eyes gazed at yours. You were probably the first person that it's come across in a very long time. You let out a breathy chuckle as you watched it swim away.
“I do okay?” Joel’s voice filled the room. It was the softest you ever heard him speak.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” You turned to him with a smile. His grin spread wide to match yours. “Thank you, Joel.”
He continued to gaze at you with loving eyes. It made your heart flutter and stomach do back flips. You weren’t sure what was going to happen next but all you knew was that the atmosphere was perfect. You wanted to kiss him, but was too scared. He took another step forward and you let him. Now, the two of you were close enough to touch. He leaned down and closed his eyes as he did. You saw what he was doing and you wanted it so bad but…
“Joel.” You said his name while pulling your head back.
“I’m...I’m sorry.” He looked down at his feet.
“No, don’t be sorry. It’s not you. I just...I’m scared.”
He playfully scoffed. “Don’t tell me you’ve never kissed anyone before.”
“No, it's not that.” You paused for a moment. It sounded logical in your head, but you were afraid it’d sound stupid out loud. “But what if I infect you?”
Joel looked taken aback. “What?”
“I’m a carrier of the disease. What if I'm contagious? I can spread it to you from a kiss like it was a cold.” You spoke with genuine worry.
He let out a small laugh. “You know how many times you’ve sneezed in the house without covering your mouth? If spores would have come out. I would have breathed them in and I’d be long gone by now.”
You look down in shame before laughing yourself. “I’ll remember to cover my mouth next time.”
Joel caressed your cheek, prompting you to look back up at him. You smiled, inviting him to try again and so he did. Joel leaned down and this time, you reached up and met him in the middle. You took his bottom lip between yours. His beard brushed against your skin but it was a welcome feeling. The two of you stopped for a split second before going in again for another kiss. Joel was the first to pull away. He knew it was the first time that the two of you had kissed and didn’t want to ruin the moment by going too far. He looked down at you and realized he was ready to go as far as you’d take him, however far that was. Kissing you was a heady sensation and it was something he’d been wanting to feel for a while now.
******
You start to let Joel in more. Your romantic feelings for him overcame your apprehension. It still lingered in the background, but you convinced yourself to focus on the present. What happened at the hospital had already been done, right? You thought to yourself. What if Joel was telling the truth? You rarely allowed yourself to play that angle. Joel and his brother respectively left the Fireflies for a reason. Maybe they did something that rubbed him the wrong way and he didn’t want to stay there and wait for me to wake up. You couldn’t help but trust Joel after he fought to keep you alive during the journey out west. He must have had a good reason, whatever it was.
Preparing for the Jackson winter was harsh but focusing on the present was easy and your present was with Joel. He walked you up to your door the night you two came back from the aquarium. He stood there awkwardly as if he wasn’t the one who initiated a kiss from you first. The long ride back showed you that you hadn’t infected him after all, which gave you the confidence to pull him into a goodnight kiss. You caught his eyes widening in shock as you pulled away. It was so different from the Joel that you were used to. Moments like these excited you in discovering more about him.
It’d been a very long time since you were in a relationship and quite honestly you weren’t in many of them especially after the zombie apocalypse. You could only imagine it was the same for Joel given his guarded demeanor and the fact that he never talked about any past relationships. The morning after your birthday, he made you breakfast. He did a damn good job with what little he had in the fridge. It was easy to tell how much effort he put in it between setting the table and plating the food. The rest of the day was a whirlwind of attention. You were never good at hiding your feelings, but with Joel, you didn’t want to. People in the settlement noticed the change in your demeanor. The glow on your face. The pep in your step. Lynn definitely noticed and she wouldn’t let it go. You spilled everything to her. She soaked it up like a sponge but couldn’t believe it. “Joel?” She kept asking. Unlike you, Joel was much better at concealing his feelings. He always came off as a tough nut to crack. After a year and some change in Jackson, the townsfolk found him easier to get along with, but he was still a closed book. It made you wonder if even his own brother would be surprised by how gentle he could be.
You didn’t see Joel again until later that night after his shift had ended. You left a note on the fridge door letting him know that you’d be down at The Watering Hole, the only bar in Jackson, if he wasn’t too tired to meet you there. You sat around waiting for him, nursing your gin and tonic. You missed cell phones for this very reason. If he was running late out on patrol or was too tired to come out, he could just call or shoot you a text. This blind waiting was almost too much to bear. You figured that you would just meet him at home and come back out later if he was up for it. Just as you got up, however, you spotted him walking through the door. You watched as he said hi to the barman before scanning the crowd. He smiled when his eyes found yours. You beckoned him over with your finger.
“Perfect timing,” You began as he sat across from you. “I ordered you a dinner a while ago, so it should be out here any minute.”
“Thank you.” The skin around his eyes wrinkled as he smiled. You noticed that he looked tired.
“We could go home as soon as the food comes if you’re tired.” You suggested.
He waved his hand at the idea. “No, no. I want to be here with you.” He laid that same hand down on the table, palm up, encouraging you to lay yours on top. You did so and his fingers enclosed your smaller hand, giving it a squeeze. It was his first public display of affection. On the outside, it didn’t look like much, but it meant a lot to the both of you.
“Joel,” You paused, not knowing how to start the conversation burning in your mind. “I, um....” You were nervous and you didn’t know why. What happened to that confidence you had on your birthday. Just as you decided to begin again, the barman came over with Joel’s food and drink.
He thanked him before turning back to you. “I know there’s somethin’ here, (Y/N). I’m not alone in thinking this am I?”
You shook your head fervently. “No, Joel. I want this, whatever this is, to be something.”
“Whatever this is, huh?” He repeated. “Well how about this,” With his hand still grasping yours, his voice turned serious. “Go steady with me.”
You raised your eyebrows. “Go steady? I don’t think the kids say that anymore.” You lightly made fun of his wording. Still it was everything you wanted to hear.
His face broke into a half smile. “Well, we ain’t kids are we?” The smile turned sly as he watched for your response.
You shook your head. “Not at all.” You said coyly.

ok. i must know the music tastes of *preparation cough* [insert all of your ocs here] :}
Thank you for enabling me to talk about this 🙏
Kimiko Yukihira 🍳
Kimiko has her own little radio in her room and this radio is pretty much her main source of exposure to music. She therefore listens to a lot of Pop and is especially fond of the upbeat kind. Thanks to the men in her family she has been introduced to various Rock or more Alternative songs as well though.
Favorite Artists: I feel she’d like Owl City & possibly also Paramore
Hiroshi Aldini-Tadokoro ⚓️
Hiroshi listens to soft things that ease him down. His playlist is full of cute, soft-sounding pop songs and acoustic stuff.
Favorite Artists: Hm, Jason Mraz, Sleeping At Last & Ai Means Love, I think
Mika Aldini ☀️
As an avid dancer, Mika mainly listens to songs that you can also dance to. So her playlists mainly consist of very fast-paced, exciting songs. Her favorite Genre is Latin-Pop, but she listens to a lot of regular Pop as well (as long as it’s good for dancing). She also does enjoy some Reggae once in a while, especially if she does feels like relaxing.
Favorite Artists: Shakira & Jennifer Lopez
Kaori Hayama 💐
Kaori listens majorly to Soul, R&B & Blues. She considers it very relaxing and she does mainly listen to music in order to relax. Kaori does also have a little soft spot for a lot of older jazzy tunes from her mother’s favorite movies.
Favorite Artists: Aretha Franklin, Sade, Alicia Keys & Adele
Lola Nakiri 🦊
Lola is Daddy’s little girl when it comes to the matter of music. When Lola Nakiri puts on headphones, she’ll be blasting her ears off with Rock & Heavy Metal. She’s also known to have a rather impressive collection of band T-shirts. She can find some appreciation in the sassy Pop her mom listens to, but ultimately Rock & Metal is where her heart is.
Favorite Artists: Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin I guess. And probably another Metal Band. I sadly only know a few and only by name because I do not listen to Metal, ever.
Mona Nakiri 🐺
Techno. Mona walks around with her headphones a lot more than Lola does and what she listens to is all sorts of Techno sub-genres and House, with a good number of Remixes in-between.
Favorite Artists: Lea doesn’t know any tbh sfghgfhg
Takayuki Hojo 💥
Takayuki listens to Rock like the tough cookie he is. Should he ever listen to anything that isn’t Rock, his father or Suzume most likely made him listen to it. His two favorite songs of all time are “T.N.T” by AC/DC & “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor (Takayuki loves the Rocky movies)
Favorite Artists: As long as it’s Rock he doesn’t care who sings. Okay but he is pretty fond of AC/DC and Guns n’ Roses
Kazuo Mimasaka 💕
My boy Kazuo surely has one big playlist that is filled with nothing but the most sappiest and emotional love-ballads imaginable. And I don’t even want to think about how long it would be. Kazuo can listen to almost anything, the exception being Hardcore Gangster Rap, but what he listens to privately is...yeah, Ballads.
Favorite Artists: Lionel Richie & Celine Dion are the first names to come to my mind. “My Heart Will Go On” is at the very top of Kazuo’s playlist
Yasu Ibusaki 🌲
Shun passed his liking for Rock down to Yasu. When growing older, Yasu additionally also developed a love for all things Indie & Folkish. Has been called a Hipster for his music taste more than once by Hideyoshi.
Favorite Artists: Arctic Monkeys, Twenty One Pilots, Hozier
Chieko Marui 📚
Chieko does listen to a lot of LoFi or Movie/Video Game Soundtracks for studying and relaxation. Her favorite movie soundtrack is that of “The Theory of Everything”. However, when it comes to casual listening her mother got her into Pop. And also thanks to her father, Chieko kinda became accustomed to Pop from all decades. She majorly listens to all sorts off love songs.
Favorite Artists: TAYLOR SWIFT, Chieko is a confirmed Swiftie. Also really likes Britney Spears tho I feel.
Hideyoshi Kawashima 🎤
Hideyoshi listens mainly to things you can #party to. Out of all the characters he’s the one who keeps up with the charts the most. Likes Pop and also K-Pop! His dad did successfully get him into some HipHop as well though. Hideyoshi also has a secret soft spot for the boybands of the 90s.
Favorite Artists: Jason Derulo, Backstreet Boys & BTS
Daisuke Aoki 🎸
Daisuke is our Retro-Kid. His music libraries is mostly 80s and 70s, with some songs of the 50s and 60s that his father likes in-between. Is usually the last one in Polar Star to discover the newest hit in the charts, because he’s too busy bopping to the past. Lea can relate.
Favorite Artists: Queen, A-ha & Huey Lewis & The News
Hiraku Yukihira 🐙
Hiraku likes the modern Rock from the 2000s and 2010s. Occasionally he will stumble over something in the Indie and Alternative department and then be real proud over being the only one who knows a particular song.
Favorite Artists: Panic! at the Disco, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons
Akio Hayama 🌱
The same as Kaori. This is a thing they have in common, they both do enjoy the same music pretty much. Though I can picture Akio liking some Reggae once in a while in addition. Also just a few days ago, I established that he’s a secret theatre kid who also listens to a lot of Show Tunes.
Favorite Artists: Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye
Suzume Hojo 🔥
Out of all the characters in the cast, I’d say that Suzume probably has the broadest music taste. She is capable of enjoying a lot of stuff. Being the Meme-Lord that Suzume is, she does love to put on some Meme- and Guilty Pleasure songs. Though of course, there is irony playing into that enjoyment. When it comes to the songs she enjoy unironically, they’re mostly very fast-paced and energetic. I guess you could say her favorite genre is bouncy pop of all decades. Her favorite song of all time would be “Girls just want to have fun”.
Favorite Artists: Lizzo, Beyoncé and Cindy Lauper.
Shigeo Eizan 💎
Jazz is Love. Jazz is Life. Shigeo listens to Jazz ahdhd. A lot. He basically always has Jazz going on in the background when he’s working. When he finds the time to listen more attentively, he loves listening to Swing the most.
Favorite Artists: Frank Sinatra. Also likes Michael Bublé tho I feel.
Noboru Shinomiya 🍂
Noboru loves nothing more than his collection of classic French Chansons. It’s what he listens to on his long autumn walks through Paris and it makes him happy and content. He also does like the Enka-songs his mother enjoys though.
Favorite Artists: Joe Dassin and dith Piaf
Kiyoko Saito 🌸
Kiyoko really loves Classical Japanese music a lot but she only really does listen to it on special occassions. She does also enjoy a lot of modern Pop and also K-Pop as well though and she really loves to put it on whenever she dresses up, paints her nails... etc. (Also I can see her being into Vocaloid tbh).
Favorite Artists: BLACKPINK. I can also see her liking Ariana Grande
Masashi Eizan 🍜
Okay this is our true Classic-Fanatic. All of Nene’s efforts to bring Masashi to operas, ballets and just plain classical concerts have paid off. Masashi listens majorly to Classical Japanese music or Western Classical music. He also does really like Enka.
Favorite Artist: His favorite Western composer is Beethoven, I haven’t figured out anything else yet.
Ran Mimasaka 🖋
Ran listens to a lot of operas actually ahdh because, well, she likes operas. Aside from that, she does also enjoy Rock and ChillHop though shdhf. To some this might be a weird combo, but it do be like that sometimes.
Favorite Artists: In the Rock-department it’s David Bowie.
-
I admittedly only did the most important high schoolers here, I will need a Part 2 I guess ahdhdf
But still thanks for asking ☺️
#Well#That took longer than I expected#But it was still fun ahdfhf#Gofer answering to stuffz#Shokugeki no Kimiko Stuffz

What Happens After Midnight
Summary: You normally spent every year trying to avoid your relatives at the annual NYE’s party. But with a twist in fate, you would meet someone who would change your viewpoint of the last hours of each year completely.
Pairing: Yoo Kihyun x reader
Prompt: Fake!Boyfriend/Fake!Girlfriend AU
Genre: fake boyfriend au / fluff
Warnings: typical cliché fairytale talk that I like to do a little too much!
A/N: this is part of the @kwritersworld Christmas Prompt Event. I chose to do mine for a New Years Eve scenario so hopefully that still works! This is the last fiction of 2019, thank you everyone for a fantastic fiction-filled year!
Word count: 4014
Letting out an anxious breath, you sidestepped through a gap your Aunt Marcie hadn’t overtaken yet, her voice booming around for all those who wanted to hear about her year in business for the fourth time this evening.
You didn’t like parties at the best of times, but the end of year party was the one you despised the most.
As a family, you all opted to spend Christmas in your close-knit units, meaning the festive day was quiet and cheerful most of the time. You liked this part of the tradition, knowing you could stay in your Christmas pyjamas all day until helping in the kitchen with dinner. Your family never really did much and you loved that. You could be comfortable and not worry about impressing anyone.
New Year’s Eve was an entirely different story. Your whole family would get together and host a hall where friends, family and even colleagues were welcome to join. It was messy in your opinion, no true rhyme or reason. Family would catch up, judgements would be made, competing over who had the most successful year. Friends would attempt to get involved and you had no idea why the work colleagues came. Most of the time they would just hang out together by the bar, not participating in the antics of your family.
You did love some of your family but it was just too much socialising for an introvert like you. If you hadn’t been expected to attend as a family member each year, you would be at home, nestled in front of the TV watching a movie on Netflix and no doubt be asleep well before the New Year even rang in.
Instead, you were skirting through crowds in attempts to remain unseen, holding your breath and making rounds of the room constantly, lessening the chance of being caught by anyone. There was only a little over half an hour left until the clock hit twelve and finally then it would be acceptable to escape. You couldn’t exactly exclaim to have a headache like last year. It was written within the family newsletter that you had left early for little reason and you would at least last until then to remain out of the gossip lines of the party write up this year.
But luck would not grant you an easy passage all night long. You had avoided your Uncle Matt’s magic tricks that hadn’t changed over twenty years and ducked out of sight from your cousin Melissa’s constant gushing over her recent engagement.
There was, however, no way to escape your cousin Joshua. You should have known better and when he rocked up in front of you, it took all your effort to not openly roll your eyes or backtrack in your step. “Well, well, well. I thought I wouldn’t see you all night long, Y/N. Where have you been hiding all this time?”
“Nowhere, I’ve just been making my rounds.”
“No headache this year?” he remarked, feigning concern as he examined you from head to toe. You suppressed the urge to stamp on his expensive boat shoes, even though it was highly inviting.
After all, he was the one who ratted you out last year to his mother, the editor in chief of the family newsletter.
“Absolutely not, though perhaps if I spend too much time in your company, I’ll feel one come on.”
“Now, cousin why are you being so foolish? We used to be the best of friends, didn’t we? Being the same age meant we were basically raised as twins.”
You smiled forcibly, knowing those innocent years were long gone. You had considered him like a brother until he exposed your secrets in high school one year for everyone in the hallway to hear. You had since taken a distinct dislike to spend any time in his company.
Whilst he relished in discovering more weaknesses to drag you down with.
“No boyfriend this year?” Joshua questioned, looking about you as if one would magically conjure up. “Again?”
“Is everything going well at the office?” you bit back courageously, somehow surprising yourself as much as you did Joshua. Your momentary burst of confidence waned and you tried to grapple onto what little remained. “I hope it’s going well for you.”
“Y/N, how dare you talk of that here!” he hissed and you stepped back, blinking rapidly as you bumped into someone.
And your breath hitched in your throat when they wrapped an arm around your waist. Darting your stunned focus up to the face of the person holding you, you merely stared at his side profile until he angled his head, smiling at you graciously. You were grateful for the firm grip around your waist as you felt your legs weaken a little.
He was far too handsome for you to handle right now.
“I finally found you. How could you play such a trick on me, baby? I just went to the bathroom and then you were nowhere to be found. I’ve been looking for you all this time!”
No one responded immediately, your gaze still upon the handsome stranger’s face and Joshua was watching you both intently. With a subtle press of his fingers into your side, you straightened, an awkward, breathy laugh tumbling out of you in response. “Oh, uh, I was-”
“Is this your cousin you were telling me all about?” the man prompted and you looked between them, suddenly nodding your head vigorously.
Joshua tentatively held out a hand to take the stranger’s outstretched one. “Joshua Melton. And you are Y/N’s friend?”
“Friend?” he repeated and chuckled, shaking his head. “Not unless that’s how you refer to someone you’re dating. Right, Y/N?”
It was growing difficult as you struggled to keep up with the conversation and not grow faint from the smell of his aftershave. You were overstimulated in this environment and so you snapped away from the stranger’s side, causing him to eye you carefully. He was working too hard on your behalf to mess this up and so you took over, slipping your arm more comfortably around his middle.
You then smiled. “How silly would it be to call you a friend-”
“I’m Yoo Kihyun. I work in marketing and met Y/N when she was doing an article on the trending marketing tactics of twenty-eighteen.”
You looked at Kihyun in wonder. You had edited an article on that topic and so it surprised you that he knew who you were and yet you had no idea where this mystery man had even come from. Still, he was helping you regain some credibility in front of your cousin and that was all you needed to focus on right now.
“I guess you’ve been so busy at work Josh that you hadn’t even heard my dating news?”
“I mean, it is early days,” Kihyun offered and you nodded thoughtfully, trying not to grin too much.
“It’s in that stage where I feel like every time I see you is the first time all over again.”
Kihyun snorted and Joshua chuckled hollowly.
“Well, uh, I’ll leave you both to it. Y/N, lovely to see you!”
“You too, Josh!” you called after his tailwind departure, trying not to giggle in triumph. You then turned to Kihyun, who was still holding you. Looking at his embrace, your cheeks flared. “Oh, uh well um-”
“We’re a couple now, at least for tonight, so we better make sure it remains a known fact for old Melton there,” Kihyun told you and you nodded gingerly, slipping away just enough to grab Kihyun’s hand and lead him over to an empty seating area along the wall.
“Thank you so much. You have no idea what your help tonight means to me.”
Kihyun shrugged, smiling at you again. “I think I have a fair idea.”
“You do?” Blinking slowly, you tried to remember if you had truly met Kihyun anywhere. He allowed your curious examination before chuckling softly at you. “Have we met before?”
“I’ve seen you before, but this is our first time talking, Y/N.”
“Then how do you – I mean, you knew about my article and everything!”
“Well, when you come to events like this each year, you kind of get the rundown of family dynamics after a while.”
“This isn’t your first time?”
Kihyun shook his head, turning thoughtful. “I think it’s about my fourth time? I work for one of your relatives and I get a bonus for turning up. Sounds ridiculous, but I work hard-”
“You should be rewarded for it then,” you concluded on his behalf and Kihyun nodded. “Well, again, thank you. Joshua has been holding power over me for years and even though I knew about his rocky position at work, I normally don’t speak up so boldly. I’m really glad that I had support to get through that moment.”
“I have to admit I find you incredibly interesting.”
“Oh?” Your cheeks felt warm again. “You do?”
Kihyun laughed heartily. “You are quite a funny little thing. Each year you try to hide. Why bother coming if you don’t want to be here? The first year I came, you were pressing yourself against that pillar there.”
You glanced at the large column and sighed weakly. You had hoped that hiding behind it in the corner would keep you out of Melissa’s wrath that year. She had just broken up with her soon to be husband for the eighth time and you hadn’t known and mistakenly asked her about him.
Kihyun continued. “And the next year, I swear you dropped to the ground and hid under a table at one point. Then last year you disappeared after claiming to have a headache and until your cousin found you tonight, were you waltzing independently?”
You couldn’t help but laugh, dropping your head into your hand momentarily before peeing back at Kihyun. “I’m rather foolish, aren’t I?”
“You don’t like family gatherings?”
“I might edit articles for several magazines and speak with a lot of people, but I am definitely no extrovert. Events like these really aren’t my thing.”
“Then why come?” Kihyun leaned forward, arching an eyebrow dramatically. “Are you being paid too?”
“No, but I wish I was,” you answered with a laugh. He laughed with you for a moment and you smiled. “This is actually the first event in gosh, ten years, where I’ve genuinely laughed. I owe you a lot tonight.”
“Well, you don’t have to pay me for it; it’s been a pleasure to have something to do other than observe the rituals of this party.”
Sharing a smile, you got lost in his gaze, startled when the countdown to midnight began. You didn’t join in, nor did Kihyun. Instead, you continued your moment.
And when the clock struck twelve, you leaned in and kissed Kihyun.
He didn’t hesitate to kiss you back, placing a hand on your cheek as his mouth pressed into yours. It was the best way to bring in the New Year you decided, and when you finally pulled apart as celebrations rang around the entire party, you smiled brightly at him.
“Happy New Year, Kihyun.”
“You too, Y/N.”
When you opened your eyes the following morning, you couldn’t erase your smile. The events of last night played over in your mind and you rolled about in your bed excitedly, kicking at your sheets as you squealed.
It felt like a dream and yet, Kihyun had truly been a knight in shining armour.
Not only that, he had kissed you again after the first kiss and you had ended the night with one more before getting into an Uber and heading home. It was all so magical; you half expected a solo glass slipper to be sitting over on the chair with last night’s dress.
It was when you got up and started brushing your teeth that you realised there were some flaws in your fairytale ending. You racked your brain for any point in time where you asked for a way to contact him. Surely you would have thought to grab his phone number or a social media account in the very least. But as you replayed each scene carefully, taking your time to cleanse your face in between, you gasped, realising you hadn’t so much as mentioned exchanging details.
After patting your face dry, you reached for your phone on the basin, scrolling through for any new contacts. You knew you had none, but you checked several times, chewing on your bottom lip anxiously as you did so. There was no trace of Kihyun anywhere. Placing the device down with a little more effort than usual, you pouted up at your reflection. It was then that you noticed you had bumped the camera button and went to close out of it, spotting a thumbnail from a previous photo you had taken. Clicking it, you realised your phone did have at least one sign of Kihyun on it, easing your sudden return to thinking it had been a dream. There was only one photo, but it was enough to let your heart sing out as you stared fondly at your selfie with him.
Still, it wasn’t enough. And when you recalled that he worked for a relative, you couldn’t remember which one – or if he had even said who. Your family was large and it would take you some time to find the answer.
With the twist in events, you realised that it was Kihyun who should have left you a glass slipper instead. Aside from his name, in which a quick search on your social media handles and a Google search of his name left you empty-handed, you only had a photo to go upon.
As you thought over his kisses one more time, you felt determined to try and find him all the same. You hadn’t just kissed him out of gratitude, and you were certain Kihyun hadn’t helped you because he was amused by your antics either.
Despite all efforts, you exhausted your resources. You asked around the family as discreetly as you could for Kihyun and came back with no information at all. He eluded you on every step and as the months went by, you slowly became convinced that he was a mystical pixie of the night. It was the only thing you could conclude it to as Yoo Kihyun had otherwise entirely disappeared from your life altogether.
Not that he had been in it for all that long, to begin with.
And so, when Christmas arrived again, you had almost forgotten all about the man who saved you last year.
Almost.
Of course, when your family had gotten together earlier in the year, you had fibbed that your boyfriend had to work overseas so you had chosen to separate for the time being. Somehow, that was all you could hold onto as well. Being unable to find him here felt more plausible when you considered it was because he wasn’t in the city anymore.
And as you readied for the annual New Year’s Eve party, you told yourself you wouldn’t search for Kihyun in the shadows, not even once.
You arrived at an acceptable hour and politely had drinks with Melissa who was newly married, listening to her gush about her wedding as if you hadn’t been there to witness it all. You didn’t sidestep around Aunt Marcie, and you even laughed at one of Uncle Matt’s magic tricks.
And when Joshua appeared in front of you much later into the evening, you smiled brightly at him in greeting. “Cousin.”
“Y/N, how are we doing tonight?” he wondered, leaving you no time to respond before moving onto his next question. “Oh, no boyfriend this year?”
“Afraid not, you know what happened.”
“Yes, yes, overseas you say. You know, I did ponder the idea that you faked it all.”
You shrugged. “And maybe I did. I must have paid him to come over and pretend in front of you, huh?”
“Well, it makes sense, given…”
You blinked as he trailed off, his attention falling from you. “Given what?”
“Sorry I’m late, did you wait long for me?” a voice mentioned breathlessly and you turned, your eyes widening to find Kihyun behind you. He barely gave you a look before turning to your cousin. “Oh, Jenson, right?”
“Joshua.”
“Of course, sorry. I’ve been so busy this year, it’s easy to forget about the small details. Y/N, are you okay? I know I’m really late.”
You didn’t even hear Joshua’s departing sentence, still staring up at the man before you. And slowly, you raised a hand to his face, blinking when your fingers brushed along his jawline. “You do exist.”
“What? Of course, I do.”
Looking around yourself you then dazedly looked back at him. “For only a night?”
Kihyun grew amused. “Ah, right, you seem to be expecting me to disappear after midnight. Maybe leave you a glass slipper? Dive into the back of a pumpkin carriage?”
“Cinderella leaves before midnight,” you replied indignantly and moved over to the same seating area you had last year. Kihyun sat down beside you and it took all your effort to not reach out for his hand. “And Prince Charming discovers her far more easily than you are to find.”
“I clearly left a sore spot, I apologise for that,” he mentioned and you nodded simply. “Did you look for me?”
“I don’t just kiss anyone.”
“But you kissed me, and I could be just anyone. You barely knew anything about me.”
“I still don’t.”
“What are fake dates for? It means the details can be anything,” he offered and you glanced at him cautiously.
“Did you lie about who you are last year?”
Kihyun shook his head firmly. “No, but I wasn’t entirely honest either. I had to go away and help build the new branch overseas for most of the year. It was something I had pre-planned and then I… well, you kissed me first and I should have told you then but I chose to kiss you back and lead you on. I wasn’t in any position to start something with you back then.”
You laughed, shaking your head incredulously. “I told everyone we broke up because you went overseas.”
“That’s uncanny,” he murmured and slowly took your hand. You didn’t refute his advances and Kihyun rubbed your skin gently with his thumb. “I thought of you a lot over this year.”
“Wait, you knew who I was, you could have contacted me!”
“I did, I emailed you in January right before I went overseas.”
“You didn’t!” you exclaimed, feeling flustered at the concept that he had even thought to reach out to you.
He held up his phone after a quick scroll, showing you that he had emailed your work account. Kihyun sighed sadly. “And then I rang your branch in March. They told me you had left your job as you had been given a better offer.”
“So we both looked and found no glass slipper,” you surmised.
“Are you wearing any now?”
“It was you who I thought was Cinderella, remember?” you replied, nudging your heel into the side of his shoe.
“Well, how about we do this the modern way. Give me your number. That is if you want to.”
“Are you going overseas again?”
Kihyun shook his head. “I’m receiving a promotion and running a department here. Permanently.”
You took the phone he held out and put your digits in, saving it and even pressed call before handing it back so you knew you would get his number. Kihyun laughed heartily. And then you let go of his other hand altogether, shooting him a look.
“I tried my hardest this year to not do any silly antics at this party.”
“Except when it comes to me, huh?”
“Well, like you said, as a fake date, anything can be a detail.”
“Can I share what I think would be a good idea to try?” Kihyun asked and you nodded softly. “How about, there’s a guy. Who watched you from afar for four whole years. He was completely intrigued by you but for a while, he felt that you were too closed off to approach. Then he saw you having trouble with a relative and stepped in, offering to be your fake boyfriend to rise above the ridicule of that relative. You kissed him right when it hit midnight, changing how he viewed you completely. Unfortunately, he had made prior commitments and couldn’t just drop them for a beautiful girl he barely knew more than five things about. So he did his best to try and forget about you until he came back. And now he’s slipped back into the role he started last year, though he doesn’t want to be that anymore. He wants more.”
“What does he want?” you breathed, certain your heart was now fluttering around in your stomach wildly.
Kihyun shifted closer, stopping when he heard the countdown begin. Just like last year, you didn’t join in, too focused on Kihyun’s expression. And when it finally hit midnight, his lips crashed down on yours, passionately taking you into another realm of celebrations. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed yourself against him, kissing him back with just as much demand.
When you could no longer breathe, you fell apart, heaving in some air to regulate your breathing from such a mind-blowing kiss. And Kihyun caressed your cheek affectionately.
“Let’s actually date. It’s been fun creating an alternate world with you to fool Joshua, but let’s make it real. I don’t want to have any more time go between us before I get to kiss you again.”
“You’re talking a lot for a guy who doesn’t want any more time to slip by,” you told him before pressing your lips briefly to his again.
“Happy New Year, Kihyun.”
“You too, Y/N.”
Waking up later in the morning, you peered around your room cautiously. There laid your dress from last night over on your chair, and you noticed nothing else was out of the ordinary.
And then your phone rang.
“Hello?”
“So, I was wondering if I could take you out for breakfast. Or I could make you some. I’m pretty handy in the kitchen actually. Wait, you haven’t eaten yet, have you?”
Suppressing your initial urge to squeal out euphorically, you giggled instead. “I just woke up.”
“You don’t say?”
“Wait, you could tell I woke up now? Can you see me right now?”
“I wish I could.”
Relaxing, you played with the edge of your blanket. “So it wasn’t a dream this year?”
“Sorry to disappoint,” Kihyun replied with a laugh and you imagined what he looked like right now. Was he dressed already? Or still in bed like you with messy hair? You sat up then, reaching a hand up into your hair.
If Kihyun wanted to meet up soon, you would need to get moving right now.
“So, breakfast?”
“Give me an hour and I’ll meet you anywhere,” you answered.
“An entire hour? Don’t you think it’s been too long since I last saw you? After all, we’re in that stage where seeing each other will feel like the first time all over again.”
You laughed. “You remember that line?”
“I remember everything about you that I’ve learned.”
“Which isn’t much,” you retorted as you moved into your bathroom.
“No, but I’ve decided that it’s okay.”
“Really?”
“Sure. I have all the time in the world to find out all about you now.”
“You’re not going to disappear again?”
“Not unless I’m disappearing somewhere with you.”
After arranging a place to meet up, you hung up and stared at your reflection in the mirror, biting your lip to conceal your excitement.
You really had hated those parties each year. But they had also been where you met Yoo Kihyun. Bringing in the New Year hadn’t felt this good before.
And you were more than ready to see where this year would take you.

Name: hi, i am nyx Age: 20 years old Writing Blog URL(s): jungcity.tumblr.com | v-asl.tumblr.com
Nationality: filipino Languages: english, filipino Star Sign: pisces! MBTI: infp-t Favorite color: white accentuated by silver Favorite food: it’s sweet and spicy chicken garlic!! Favorite movie: hmmm, it’s prolly flipped because that movie was so cute :,) Favorite ice cream flavor: rocky road!! Favorite animal: it’s gonna be cats!! although i love lions so much because of narnia :,( Coffee or tea? What are you ordering? coffee :,) Go-to karaoke song: i don’t sing agskh the world would end if i would
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)? i think it’s me writing about jaehyun??? since he’s the king of fanfiction, especially in ncity nowadays.
What fandom(s) do you write for? nct + wayv
When did you post your first piece? three days ago!! that would be august 4 i guess???
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? i don’t really much write fluff since i don’t have any idea how to write a good fluff!! :( this has been an issue every time i write some au’s. so im always ending up writing and focusing more on angst. it’s the genre i know best. well, crack… it’s hard to make the readers laugh when you can’t even make their tooth ache from sweetness with your fluffy writings. :( smut… i don’t write smut explicitly any more. i’m more on the suggestive side rn.
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc i write OC’s especially when im writing a series!! to diversify my writing. but i usually am on the x reader side. ships? not that much.
Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? uhm, back in 2017, i was searching for some website where i could publish my works. ive always been a tumblr-girl since i am that wanna-be-aesthetic kinda person :D then i had found that i could write and publish on tumblr so yeah that’s pretty much why i am on this app rn
What inspires you to write? ooh, music has been a great help for sure!! whenever i don’t feel like writing something, i always listen to music and the idea would flow like a river. classic poems helps, too. :)
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? supernatural!au’s, fantasy!au, medieval!au. i feel like it’s easier to write something out of pure fantasy. i have a hard time writing modern!au’s since i lack the humor and the knowledge for modern slangs.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work? ooh, i always always always am careful with the way that i craft all my works. i try to feel what my characters feel to give them a certain validation. i put my shoes on the scenarios i have in mind even though i haven’t yet experienced everything ive written. and i do love writing strong female characters, whether it’s oc’s or female readers. that’s my main priority whenever i write. and i want them to know that girls could do just as much everything boys could. women are powerful.
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? i read a lot to get back on my foot. i also try to re-read my past works so i’d be inspired to better my writing on my current draft.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? my favorite work is the one i’m still writing rn, which is entitled 505. it’s a hendery fic in which he is a bandit and the female reader is a sacristan. it’s my fave since i relate myself so much to the female reader. :) my most successful one is the childhood best friends!au taeyong x female reader. it’s about to reach 600+ notes i guess? and im so grateful of all the feedbacks i got from it.
Who is your favorite person to write about? it’s jaehyun and hendery :)
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? character wise, perhaps. since you already have a face value in fanfiction, but in an original prose, you would have to craft everything from 0.
What do you think makes a good story? a good story is something that doesn’t romanticize the bad things going on in the world. a good story is something that is emphatic to the hardships of others. a good story is something that gives comfort to those who are in the dark. a good story is something that boosts the hearts of the readers and makes them feel things!!
What is your writing process like? first, i think of a plot! (this happens oftentimes when im washing the dishes) when i have the plot, i think of the ending. when i have the ending, it’s time for me to device a fitting title. and the plot would develop from then on.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? i don’t think so… this is scary. since some people think of fanfics as delusional works from delusional authors. it’s kinda sad.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? i love love love enemies-to-lovers trope!! one that i couldn’t stand and do my best to not read is probably… hmm… no, i love all tropes!! i just love e-t-l most!
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? it means a ton. since it could really boosts me up. heavy sigh. it’s the best thing when you write something— the feedbacks. even though it’s a simple reblog with the ‘#ATKSHSKSHSKAHAKSGAHGEGSJA’ or ‘#myfave’. i would smile like an idiot whenever i read it.
Dream job (whether you have a job or not)? i want to be a successful writer someday!
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose? teleportation!!
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose? ancient greek + victorian era
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you? yes!! im so hell deep in indecision right now so i want to restart to make everything right
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken? 100 chicken-sized horses!!
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been? enemies-to-lovers trope agsksj LOL
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures? YES!!! perhaps they are lurking somewhere here on earth and we don’t know it yet ;)
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know? oh… i don’t really know what to write. i don’t give much attention to my personal details agsksj
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged? yes!! ugh, there’s this recent issue wherein stan twt called fanfic writers as freaks. and it broke my heart. i mean, most fanfic writers get inspirations from their idols and that shouldn’t be a bad thing. we aren’t delusionals as one might think. we are simply doing our craft.
Do you think art can be a medium for change? yes!! our country’s hero ‘jose rizal’ had somehow stirred the nationality of the people back in the old days because of his writings. i do believe that art changes things!! it has the ability to pierce the heart of the people.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself? yes. i feel this whenever im writing smut. i mean, let’s be real, your works would do better once you’ve included some steamy smut scenes in it. when i was writing my first fanfic after three years, i didn’t think that i’d ever include smut. but the fear of not getting feedbacks crept up in me, so i forced myself to write some sexy scenes. i know that’s like… weird. but i’m trying not to dwell on feedbacks any longer. and i also have decided not to write explicit smut anymore. honestly, i feel better now that i don’t force myself to do something that i think would please others rather than me.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times? uhm, as far as i can remember, nope— still hasn’t felt that way. :)
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? yes!! my best friends irl knows about it. my sister knows. my parents are also aware of my passion in writing, and they do know that i write. but where and what, that remains obscured from them :D
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? that it’s okay to be vulnerable. it’s okay to make mistakes. it’s okay to fail sometimes. it’s okay to feel things. because like a good book, there is always a character development and you have the pen to write your own version of happy endings.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? i’ve been there: the scared and conscious part. but one thing i would say is, you have to dare yourself!! you won’t know how your writing would have impacted so many lives and touch the hearts of people if you won’t grab your pen or your gadget and start your draft.
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? nope, there aren’t. the community has been lovely to me ever since i started writing. :,)
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey? yes!! oh my god. i’d like to take this opportunity to thank my mutuals who’s done me nothing but kindness— @legendnct (hannah), whoo!! you know how much i love you, right? thank you for always being there to listen to me. :) @cloudysuh des, since day one you’ve supported me. i couldn’t ask for more. thank you for the never-ending praises, keyboard smashes, for the tags, and for always boosting me up. @bohoes georgie, you know i love you. since 2017 you’ve been with me— praising my works and supporting me. thank you. @cherr-e cherry!! thank you!! for teaching me how to better my writing. i hope endless happiness for u and please take care. @writermoon hello my babe!! thank you so much for reading my works with such vivid imaginations. i love you. @jaeyongf amy!! the bestest person :,) thank you for always leaving me feedbacks!! thank you for being kind to me. thank you for always supporting me. i love you guys so much and let’s be mutuals for a long time!!

“If the world hated you, and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved you, and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends.” — Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë

Grief and decisions
Pairing: Kim Jongin (Kai) x Reader Genre: Angst Word Count: 2.271 words Warnings: Mentions of cheating Note: The photo’s from EXO’s website. Just wanted to be clear that I hate cheating. It’s so infuriating and sad, tbh.
Excitement radiates off of Jongin in waves. It will be the first time he’ll see you again in two weeks and he’s just so stoked to have you back in his arms.
A soft buzz interrupts his thoughts and he looks at his mobile to open the notification that just came in.
From: My sweetie pie 2:13 PM Please go to the apartment around 4PM
Not letting even a beat pass, Jongin’s fingers flies across the screen to type out an affirmative response. The smile on his face lights up even more upon seeing the contact name you put for yourself on his phone.
Standing up from his place on the bed, he makes his way to his closet and opens the dresser to flick through each of the shirts he owns. He decides that he has to look his best that afternoon. You haven’t really communicated with each other for the past couple of weeks, so he figures he should dress up for the occasion.
Besides, he wants to always look his best whenever he’s meeting up with you because that’s what you deserve anyway, only the best.
Sounds of shuffling filled the room upon his rummaging. Gucci, Balenciaga, Valentino, Burberry, high end brands fill his clothes hanger, name it and it’s sure to be there, but he just can’t seem to find the perfect one to wear for you.
But his actions come to a halt when he catches a glimpse of a white button up and a memory makes his lips tug upwards, urging him to reach for the piece of clothing. He picks it up from the rack and looks at it wistfully.
It isn’t anything grand, he just remembers you saying he looked really nice in a simple white button up, with you telling him he looked like he could be your boyfriend, to which he replied, ‘Why don’t we make that true then?’
He laughs even more upon the reminder of what you did next. He expected you to kiss his cheek like the darling that you were, but instead he was met with a shocked expression on your face followed by a smack on the arm and you telling him he better not be joking.
It’s decided then, he’s going to wear that shirt.
Upon finishing his preparations, he picks up his phone, wallet and keys from the counter and rushes out early so he can buy some flowers for you.
——
Fifteen minutes has passed since he arrived at your front door and just stood there. Anxiety is eating at him from the inside and the level of nervousness he feels is through the roof.
Glancing at his watch, he sees it’s already 3:58. Should he wait two more minutes or just knock already?
He almost jumps in surprise when the front door opens and looking in, he sees it was Kyungsoo who unlocked the door. His brows furrow a bit. He had wanted to talk to you alone, but he guesses he couldn’t really blame you or Kyungsoo if either of you decided he should be there when Jongin came over.
Wiping his sweaty palms on his pants, he enters your home quietly, but he’s not prepared for the lump that suddenly forms in his throat upon the feeling of missing you and missing being with you in your home.
He walks further down the hallway and into the living room where he spots Kyungsoo leaning over you and whispering something to you. You give a small nod to the man which makes Kyungsoo release a heavy sigh and walk towards the other room.
“I’ll just be here if you need me,” he hears the man say in a low voice.
Yin and yang is how the whites of the room contrasted with the dark brewing inside him and he’s positive it can also describe the two emotions he’s feeling right now. On one hand, he’s filled with immense joy and love upon seeing you there, but on the other, the shame and regret flows through his veins as if they were already part of him.
And oh, how much he wants those feelings to go away, but he perfectly knows it won’t be that easy. How can it be easy when he hurt you because of his selfishness?
It’s as if he’s glued to the floor. He wants so bad to run to you and just engulf you in his hold, but he finds that he can’t move.
You’re staring at the ground as if it’s the most interesting thing in the room and Jongin’s heart breaks just a bit with the reality that you can’t bring yourself to look at him.
“[Y/N]...” he calls your name quietly, not daring enough to break the silence in the room.
You lift your head up to look at him and Jongin has to stop himself from breaking down at the sight of your red and puffy eyes. It is clear as day to him, you had been crying and it’s all because of him.
The flowers almost slip from his grasp which makes him snap out of his trance.
Taking a few steps forward, he kneels in front of you but you look to the side to evade his stare. Grasping your hand, he pushes the flowers towards you, but still, you keep your gaze away from his.
“I’m so sorry, [Y/N]...” he whispers. He rests his forehead on your knees and the moment he closes his eyes, he hears a quiet sniffle from you.
The tears start to fall down your cheeks, dropping onto Jongin’s hand and he finds that he can’t take it anymore for he’s aware it’s all his fault and he knows it damn well.
He raises his own teary gaze and grasps your face with both palms. “I’m so sorry baby, I’m so sorry,” he says amid his own tears.
You hold his hands and gently remove them from your face, all while still sobbing quietly. You still haven’t said a word and it makes Jongin even more frustrated and angry with himself.
He can take crying and screaming. Hell, he knows he deserves to be hurt by you, but this... this silence that you’re subjecting him to is something that he can’t take.
Standing up from your place on the couch, you walked towards the counter to a large brown box settled on the floor, something Jongin didn’t notice upon entering the room. He follows your movements and he tilts his head in confusion upon seeing it.
You release a shuddering sigh and clear your throat.
“These are your things,” you murmur lowly, sniffling after. “It hurst to...” you sobb. “...it hurts to keep seeing them, so I want them gone.”
The look on Jongin’s face physically pains you - he looks so guilt-stricken and heartbroken.
The first sob that escapes him wracks his chest and it is immediately followed by more. He stands up in a rush from his place and almost runs to get to you, but he falls on his knees by your feet.
Banging his fist on the floor, he cries in hate and disgust at himself. “I hate myself! I hate myself!” He sobs harder, and with shame, he realizes that he is laughable for having the audacity to think that you’ll still want him after he broke your trust.
You can’t bear the sight of Jongin hurting so you drop to your knees and grasp his arms, pulling him to you and engulfing him in a tight embrace. You relish in the feeling of having him against you even though you know the circumstances could’ve been way better.
Rubbing his back in gentle circles, you soothe Jongin through his tears as you whisper comfort to his ears. He’s still crying, going on about how much he regrets his actions, that those were all mistakes, how much he loves you and how he will do absolutely anything to get you back.
You bury your face in the crook of his neck and let your tears fall. You love Jongin, you really do, and contrary to what he believes, you have already forgiven him.
But you can never go back to how things were. You know it and he knows it even more.
It has been two weeks since he admitted to having cheated on you. You were shocked, so shocked in fact that you actually thought he was playing a cruel prank on you. You thought you knew him, and it never once passed your mind that he can do something like that. But oh, what do they always say? Right, never say never.
Your relationship had been experiencing some strain because of the stress both of your careers put on you. He was a popular model, one of the most sought-after, in fact, while you were an up-and-coming actress. Your busy schedules coupled with the pressure to deliver quality output caused the two of you to be so strung-up.
The situation wasn’t the best, but you honestly believed that you could pull through, just that you had to let the rough times pass and you had to work together. It never even occurred to you that he would try to find from somebody else the relief he needed to tide himself over.
Instead of seeking comfort and assurance from you, he chose to bask in the warmth of someone else.
That was a few months ago, and you were right, you did pull through what with the success of your most recent movie and the deal that he secured with a high end brand. You were mostly free to spend time together again after everything, and you loved the pleasant moments that came everyday.
You guessed that’s how it was with Jongin, he always brought you joy and light, and more importantly, hope and comfort.
At least until he admitted to everything a month after the release of your movie.
He said it meant nothing, that she was no one. But when you asked who she was and he told you his ex’s name, Krystal Jung, you didn’t even try to fight the hurt. She was his first love, the only woman he showered with love for years before he met you and developed feelings for you. The moment he uttered her name amid his choked sobs, you knew you had already lost the fight.
You believe him, the part where he said he regretted everything, but you don’t believe him when he said it meant nothing.
The affair made you realize that while you were hurting because of the rocky times in the relationship, he was hurting, too, and you weren’t even aware it. So much so that he felt the need to turn to another for the comfort he so wanted to feel.
But no matter the reason behind the affair, the fact remains that he cheated. The fact remains that he chose to do something that would inevitably break you apart. Ironic, huh? Ironic for him to do that when he should’ve done something to fix the strain instead.
His crying has eased, but you continue to rub his back. He rests his forehead on your shoulder as he keeps whispering sorry and forgive me to you. You halt your arms and breath a deep exhale that comes with a slight shudder, something Jongin notices so he plants a kiss to the underside of your jaw.
You hold his face with your hands and prompt him to meet your gaze. “I’ve forgiven you, Jongin. I’ve forgiven you the first time you asked for forgiveness.” You give him a pained smile and continue, “I love you, but seeing you hurts me every time.”
Resting your forehead on his, Jongin closes his eyes tightly as he starts to tear up again.
“I need some time to myself so I could heal from all of this,” you whisper. “...so we could both heal from this.”
He hugs you tight and starts crying loudly. “I can’t lose you, [Y/N]!” The force of his sobs makes his body shake, along with the frustration and guilt that is coming out of him almost in tangible waves.
“Please don’t leave me, I can’t live without you!”
Suddenly, a strong pair of arms roughly yanks him from you and you come face to face with Kyungsoo holding Jongin by his middle. Kyungsoo’s brows are furrowed deeply and you know it isn’t easy for him to see you and Jongin like this. He has long been friends with the two of you and he’s even closer to Jongin, which is why it hurt him too when you told him about what happened.
“Leave her alone, Jongin,” Kyungsoo says gruffly as he drags the taller man out.
Jongin loses the fight in him and doesn’t even try to break free from Kyungsoo’s hold. Instead, he stands up straight and walks towards the door, terrified of the possibility of not being able to have you back in his arms again. But he knows the least he can do is to honor your wish for him to give you space. That much he will grant to at least show you he respects you.
It feels even more final when Kyungsoo thrust at him the box containing his belongings.
He doesn’t even try to wipe his tears anymore. Grasping the knob, he opens the door as he prepares to exit your apartment, but not before turning back to see you sobbing on the floor, with Kyungsoo now holding you while looking at him with disappointment and hurt.
