i really like this webtoon but unfortunately it's one of the daily pass ones <//3 i've been slowly making my way through day by day on my reread because she's worth it. to me. and as for situations...well she has fucked up prophetic dreams in canon, so maybe her having a nice dream for once? or going to an aquarium or something. or just her as the "pondering my orb" wizard sldjgkhjkljfeww
omg you're a trooper for persisting 🫡🫡🫡 she seems so fun!! I love her vibe, I hope she can catch a break, but in the mean time she's pondering her orb

Hi Miss Raven! I'm really enjoying reading the things you wrote for the future event and trien sensei event! Wonderful writing as usual ^^
If you don't mind me asking, I actually want to see some yume content to certain twst characters from japanese players but I don't know what tag to use or where to look Do you know where I'm supposed to look? I'm not sure how jp player tag their content.
NOTE: I know shipping can be a sensitive thing, but please, please, please be civil about it. This is meant to be an informative post; if I list particular tags or examples here, they are just meant to be that: TAGS and EXAMPLES. It is not equivalent to me endorsing certain content or ships.
Tumblr media
Thank you for the feedback 🎵 I have a lot more requests to write so you’ll be fed for a while please look forward to those~
The Japanese fandom LOVES to tag works so it's easy for other fans to find what they are interested in and to avoid what they dislike. Keep the fandom etiquette in mind and practice it yourself! This means don't use unrelated tags to boost exposure when sharing your own posts; it's seen as disrespectful and rude. It also means you do NOT go out of your way to find content you know you dislike and attack the creator.
I believe the general tag for Twst is # ツイステファンアート or #ツイステ. #twstファンアート or #twstイラスト are used for Twst fan art. Most people I know look for Twst stuff on Pixiv, Twitter, or doujin purchasing sites.
If you're looking for shipping content, there are different tags for that:
# twstプラス is for any Twst character x Prefect
#女監督生 is female Prefect
#男監督生 is male Prefect
#男装監督生 is female Prefect dressed in male clothing or pretending to be male
#twstプラスNL is for Twst character x female Prefect
#twstプラスBL is for Twst character x male Prefect
#twstBL can be used for Twst character x Twst character (no Prefect)
#オリ監 (may also include 創作), #顔あり, and #監督生顔あり refers to the creator's OC or their interpretation of Yuu; Prefect generally has a "face" in these works
#モブ is a generic or “mob” character; typically means Prefect is faceless or can easily be self-inserted or projected onto
#ツイステ夢 or #twst夢 is “yume” or self ship works
If you see a B or Q in the tag, the former means male and the latter means queer or genderfluid
Here are tags that may help you find a particular genre or more specific content:
#夜のツイステ or #夜のツイステプラス refers to general 18+ Twst content
#夜のtwstプラス is for 18+ Twst character x Prefect
#twstマイナス is for yandere Twst character x Prefect
#夜のtwstマイナス is for 18+ yandere Twst character x Prefect
#女化 or #にょた is a scenario in which a character's gender changes to female
#ケモノ is animal features, generally ears and tail (ie kemonomimi); this doesn't refer to beastmen (who already have these traits by default), but generally refers to Prefect or a non-beastman gaining them
#ツイステプラス or #twstプラス is typically “feed good” romantic content
#ツイステマイナス or #twstマイナス is basically angst or content that makes you feed bad
#twstパロ is literally “parody” or an AU; you can add other phrases ahead of it to denote the kind of AU
#卒業後 is "after graduation" and generally means a work setting
受け refers to a submissive or passive personality while 攻め refers to a more aggressive personality; these typically describe the dynamics in a romantic relationship
If you’re looking on Twitter, specific emojis tend to refer to the characters or groups of characters, which I have listed below. I’ve also included the first 2-3 katakana of each character’s first names.
The beginning katakana are combined with one another in order to write ship names. For example, if you want Leona x Prefect, you’d combine the first few katakana for Leona, レオ, and Prefect, 監 or ユウ, to create レオ監 or レオユウ (LeoPrefect or Leona x Prefect). Use a similar formula for your desired character. For example, swap out the レオ (Leo-) part for ジェイ and you get ジェイ監, or JeiPrefect, or Jade x Prefect.
Generally for yumeshipping, it’s the canon character’s name first and then Prefect in the end.
If you’re looking for a BL ship, name order matters. The name that appears first is the “proactive” one in the relationship, while the name that appears second is the “passive” one. For example, カリジャミ (Kalim x Jamil) has Kalim as the lead in the relationship, but ジャミカリ (Jamil x Kalim) has Jamil as the lead in the relationship. YOU DO NOT CROSSTAG; the name order basically makes the ship two entirely separate things and they are treated as such in the JP fandom.

a shitty guide to tumblr for people who have never been on this godforsaken website
yeah so ive been thinking about making one of these posts, because tumblr is pretty unlike a lot of popular social media today and because i lost the ones that used to be making rounds. this is mostly for my own use so i dont have to reexplain tumblr every time i try to introduce people to this website, and i can just send this post to them instead
this is more to help you get started with no context of how tumblr operates, its not really a strict guide for you to follow fyi. you could ignore this completely if you want, this is generally for people who are confused, lost, and need somewhere to start. this post also mostly expects you to know what the buttons do, or at least be able to figure out what they mean
quick table of contents for this post: 1. setting up your blog 2. how to use tags 3. tumblr algorithm 4. tumblr etiquette [as of this post] 5. common lingo [also as of this post]
Tumblr media
1. setting up your blog
okay, so. tumblr has a hugeeeee bot problem. these bots typically have default pfps, nonsensical or overly average urls, no personalization to their blog with everything as the default, no reblogs/posts or very few of them. i, and many others, tend to block these. however, if youve just gotten tumblr and havent customized your blog yet, you might be confused for a bot. so the first thing you should do is something to show that youre a real person, like changing your banner, pfp, or blog title. people also tend to hide their following and likes, but thats up to you if you want them hidden
if youd like to add more information about yourself, such as having an introduction to your blog that doesnt fit in your bio, put it in an intro post and pin it to your blog to make it your pinned post [if you arent sure how to do that, press the three dots on the top right of the post and then press pin post]. ofc your pinned post could be some other post you really really like, such as a pinned reblog of a funny post, a post you made that you thought was a banger and encapsulates your blog, whatever. but keep in mind it will usually be what introduces people to your blog.
for me, my blog introduction has a short introduction to me, what i post, my main tags [ill get into that later], and masterposts. masterposts are posts that you use to link to other posts, typically for posts that are all connected in some way. some examples would be for an art challenge, an au, or a story that spans across posts. it just helps compile and keep track of things.
and ive seen that one repost of that tiktok post. you dont have to prep like its professional or smth [unless you want to ofc]. youre fine, tumblr is informal as hell. just be kind and respectful of others and you should be fine. also, random thing i didnt know where to put elsewhere. go into your settings. you can put stuff like a theme for your blog, add timestamps to posts (which i highly reccommend, keeps you from reblogging warnings that are out of date n such), and whatever else you can find in there.
in addition, you can make side blogs! side blogs are attached to your main blog, and are used for a variety of things. some examples include: gimmick blogs [a blog whos whole purpose is to do one specific thing], ask blogs [a blog where you rp as a character and answer asks as if you were them], au/story/comic blogs [just to keep all of it in one place, if you dont want to use tags], fandom blogs [to split up your blogs by the fandom they post about], and more!
Tumblr media
2. how to use tags
people here on tumblr can be veryyyy particular on tags. if you misuse them badly enough, you will likely find out the hard way. so, to prevent that from happening, here a quick crash course in tumblr tags!
dont spam unrelated tags if you make a post about blorbo and tag bingus, despite him not being in the post, that is using an unrelated tag and people will probably get annoyed or mad at you. you tag what is in the post. im looking at you instagram users. you tag the character[s] featured in the post, the fandom/story theyre from, and as [fandom] fanart, [fandom] fanfiction, or whatever it is. [pssstt fyi instead of fandom in brackets you put the fandom the character is from!]
dont main tag vagueposts a vague post is when you talk about someone, without naming them. this is typically done to shit talk the person its about. if you reallyyyy need to talk shit about someone that badly, dont tag it with the main tags you both interact through. ngl i think its just petty and shitty to make vagueposts in the first place, but you do you.
dont main tag critique/hate of people, ships, or characters lets say, for example, you really hate a ship in your fandom, and it bothers you to the point you feel the need to make this dislike known. you do NOT tag it with the name of that ship. people go into that tag to see people talking about how much they like that ship. that is a quick way to get a lot of hate. if you really need to, use that tag with crit slapped onto the end of it. generally, dont walk into someones house, shit talk it, and be surprised when they punch you in the face.
dont censor tags youre not going to get murdered by staff if you say suicide in your tags. if you put tags using censored terms like sewerslide or suc1d3, that only makes it so people who have those terms blocked will get those posts on their dashes. tag that shit and dont censor it, for the sake of the people around you.
now that thats out of the way, heres the other cool thing about tumblr tags! as i mentioned in the third to last paragraph of the previous section, you might want to put your main tags in your pinned post. tumblr allows you to search blogs by tag, so if someone wants to search for all of your posts that are tagged #blorbo, they can!
as an example i have 5 main tags listed in my pinned post that i use, the tag with all my art, the tag with all my writing, my tag for random textposts i make, my tag of reblogs, and my mutuals tag so i can look back and be like yayyyyy i love my moots :3. and while i dont have one, people tend to have an ask tag, where they can put all the asks they answer
Tumblr media
3. tumblr algorithm
hate to break it to you pookie, but tumblr doesnt really have an algorithm like other social media. i lied. im sorry. im stealing your spleen. the for you page is... there. but no one uses it most of the time. tumblr operates more like websites used to, and you have to go hunt your posts down in the wild.
here on tumblr, we have the dashboard! it shows the posts from the people you follow in reverse chronological order. this means that, as a tumblr newbie, your dash will be empty. so, go into the tags and follow people who post and reblog things you like. however, that is step one in the circle of life here. you can stop there, of course, but you must keep something in mind.
if you like a post and want to share it with your followers, reblog it. a like will not get it onto their dash. a like is more like telling the original poster you thought the post was neat or that you saw it; this would be more like vent posts, posts about their private life, stuff like that. if its a post youd like to share with your followers, you reblog it; this is usually someone spitting facts you want to show your followers you agree with, a post you thought was funny, cool art, and whatever else you might want to have on your blog.
fyi, when i reblog i typically leave a like. it lets me know that i have interacted with this post before, and helps me so if im looking through a mutuals or someones blog and theres an awesome post left unliked, i know i didnt reblog it. however, thats just how i like to do it
Tumblr media
4. tumblr etiquette
tumblr is a very old website, and that comes with a lot of unspoken rules the community has learned over time. heres a quick list of some rules you might need to keep in mind!
dont repost/steal posts a common thing i see on instagram and twitter is people reposting art, animation, or copying posts they thought were clever to farm likes. here on tumblr, we have reblogs! if you want that art on your blog, just reblog it. for example, if you run a gimmick blog that focuses on posting about one character, dont repost someone elses art [especially without credit]. just go reblog the original post, and let them know how much their contribution to the fandom is appreciated in the tags.
dont derail/hijack a post if you see a post thats completely unrelated to blorbo and about a different character completely and go, wow this is so blorbo coded! talk about it in the tags, or go make your own post. we build posts together here, we dont tear them down.
blocking you dont like seeing someone on your dash or when youre looking through tags? dont go and yell at them or something, or make a vaguepost. block their ass. how dare you interpret blorbo in that way. explode. get out of my sight. block tags you dont like. block keywords you dont like. block people you dont like. curate your online experience.
youve dicovered youre blocked oh no! someway, somehow, youve discovered youre blocked! oh the woe. dont make a vaguepost about it. dont go and make a hate mob because of it. it was likely nothing personal. maybe they just didnt like the way you typed. who literally cares. move on.
mutuals whenever you make a mutual, you often get bonded through blood together. i may be be posting about dogs and youre posting about taylor swift now, but through whatever led us to become mutuals, we are forever intertwined through our experience. the dash needs some diversity anyways. however, if this mutual has, for example, spontaneously started reblogging and posting about heinous shit you hate? block. begone. curate your online experience
someone posts something you dont like so you dont like what someones posting? what should you do? nothing. just leave them alone. dont send an ask, dont leave hate in their replies/reblogs. just block them if you need to, and move on
replying to reblogs you want to reply to someone in your reblogs, but you dont want to make a whole reblog or separate post? @ them in the replies of that post and chat with them there, or go to their dms and talk there
Tumblr media
5. common lingo
heres some common terms youre likely to run into on tumblr! ofc this can vary from fandom to fandom, but from my experience these tend to span across fandoms.
op - original poster. the origin. the person who made the first post youre reblogging
moot/mutual - a person who you follow and they follow you back
<- prev - used in tags, to denote tags taken from the previous reblog. this can stack, to denote prev prev prev, but just screenshot the tags and add them in a reblog at that point
<- ops tags - used similarly to prev, but specifically for ops tags
blorbo - a term to describe the character that has taken over your mind like a parasite
scrimblo (and its variations) - a term similar to blorbo, but with more of a scraggly tinge to it
tumblrina - a gender neutral term for tumblr users. its not used all that commonly anymore, but i felt it was worth mentioning
yuri - term for a ship between girls
yaoi - term for a ship between boys
headcanon/hc - an interpretation of a character that is not canon. usually is a trait that falls in line with their canon portrayal, but not always
id/alt text - an image description. it describes an image in text, so that if the image is not loading or someone is blind, they can still know what it is/what it says. heres a helpful image for how to write one
Tumblr media
asks - when you open your askbox, something you have to do through your settings, it allows people to send you messages that when you answer it posts as a whole tumblr post on your blog. you can also customize your askbox, only by changing the text from 'ask me anything!' to whatever you want. also, it might just be a me thing, but i like to tag who sent the anon in by their url or anonymous if theyre on anon
anon/anonymous - what we use to refer to people who are sending you an ask while on anonymous. some people have them off, because many people dont have the balls to send... unsavory asks on main. this is also why when people are getting hate, anon is turned off
queue - something ive actually neglected to mention! when you add things to your queue, it will post a certain amount of posts over time at the rate you set it to, during the time range you set it to
communities - tumblr communities are a more recent thing that was added to tumblr! you can go join them if youd like. quick warning though, communities that are open tend to get the occasional porn bot posting links in it. report it to a community moderator. this also means that communities that you have to be accepted into likely arent going to reject you. its probably just there to help prevent bots from getting in
porn bots - bots that post links to porn. they spam tags, communities, and spam follow people. report the porn as spam or sexual content, block, and move on
of course, there are way more terms used on this website than this, especially fandom specific ones. i couldnt possibly include them all, but this should be enough so you can understand what people are saying most of the time
Tumblr media
in conclusion...
thanks for reading! i hope you enjoyed this post, or found it helpful. make sure to be kind to people around you, stay respectful--even of things you might think are a little odd, cringe culture is dead--, and most of all, have fun!
happy blogging :3
[pssstttt hey tumblr users, if theres anything major you think i missed, let me know in the replies or a reblog and ill add it.]

Pinned Post + Blog Info
MOD NOTE: Blog on pause for a few months! Be back in ~August?
What is this?
We post question prompts for talking about your original characters for the Fallen London universe. People can reply or reblog to answer the prompts for their characters, or check the notes to find out more about other people's characters.
The aim is to post two prompts per week. Each prompt post will contain multiple questions or concepts to discuss. You don't need to answer everything on the post if you don't want to - the various questions are intended to provoke thought for your answers, or give ways to elaborate in more detail.
See below the cut for more information:
Why QnA?
There are two main goals for the blog!
First: sharing OCs is a really fun part of the fandom, but posting information about your OCs, or introducing new characters, can be hard to do, especially for people new to the fandom. The posts here aim to serve as easy ways to talk about characters, without the pressure of deciding what to talk about or the anxiety of making your own posts for it.
Second: There's a lot of cool OCs in the fandom, and not nearly enough time to find them all and learn about them. The hope is that QnA posts will serve as a way to find new characters you didn't know about yet, or to learn more about the ones you already know.
How to join?
Easy! Just reply or reblog a QnA post with your response. You can also make a new post of your own if you want, though consider linking back to the prompt and/or tagging as "fallen london oc qna".
Responses can be handled however you want. Want to write them in character? Including art/picrew designs/moodboards/etc.? Just a simple bullet point list instead of full sentences? Go wild!
There are no skill requirements for responding. You don't need to respond to every post - feel free to skip any you don't feel like answering. There are also no time restrictions, so if you want to post 15 responses in a row 3 years late, you can do that.
General etiquette
As a general rule, be respectful and polite to other people. Do not be rude or antagonistic in the replies - take people's posts in good faith, or make use of the block function if necessary.
Be sure to credit and source things where relevant. If you post a Picrew image, share the link. If you include a commissioned piece of art, credit the artist. If you're posting a moodboard, take the time to check if the images are free to use. Don't use AI generated content.
In summary: be kind, be mature, and support your fellow creatives.
Other notes
We accept suggestions for future question prompts via asks. Any suggestions will include credit - include in the ask if you want credit anonymously or under a different username. Suggestions will likely be rephrased for consistency.
The plan is to post twice per week, but this may change in the future, depending on supply of questions, etc. The posting may also be inconsistent based on moderator health. Patience is appreciated!
Questions will be tagged for spoilers if directly relevant. If a spoiler tag is missed, send in an ask and it'll be fixed ASAP. Responses may (and most likely will) contain spoilers, so tread cautiously if you're avoiding those.

Currently, blog is run by @reliably-derogaffectionate.
This blog is unofficial and is not affiliated with Failbetter Games.
Header image and blog icon are both official art from Fallen London - the Lodgings header image and the Ambitious Barrister icon, respectively.

Regarding Tagging.
I've gotten frustrated in the past about people tagging me in their character introductions. I'd like to provide context as to why some roleplayers might find it a little frustrating!
Tumblr RP Etiquette.
The lovely Vampi has in the past made a REALLY good RP etiquette guide. I don't have the link on hand but the moment I find it, trust I'll be linking it HERE.
A lot of us have been writing for a long time. Some of us on tumblr and some of us using other methods. To put it short? It was always considered rude to tag people in posts that aren't directed at them or have nothing to do with their account. ESPECIALLY if you don't follow the person. So if you're a side blog who is tagging someone who might not know you're main / cannot immediately see who you are... it's a little strange to be tagged by a stranger!
Not EVERYONE minds, but please consider this:
You're in a Dead AF fandom, replies and new follows have been slow and hard to come by... Let alone people liking your content! But suddenly..! PING! You get a notification! Yay! You can write!
Only to see it's an edit of someone else's OC, or a Pinned from a new account from someone you don't know / is using your account to bolster their own following.
Well, it's a little disappointing!
I really truly do not mind being tagged. Most people don't, and enjoy it! But if you tag someone please make sure it has something with the blog you're tagging <3

I don’t understand why people get so fussy about being asked to read comics in a comic fandom,,, like. you’re supposed to like these characters. don’t you want to interact with their media??? maybe it’s just me being autistic and devouring everything I can about my faves, but like. I really don’t understand liking characters and not wanting to interact with them. I get not wanting to read certain comics, it’s a fun hobby, if you aren’t having fun with a comic there’s no moral obligation to finish it, but with the availability that pirating websites offer, there isn’t a huge reason not to read a few? And if you aren’t having fun with any comics, do you even like them?
I know there are shows, but most often when they’re used, they have different tags. (CW is the one I have in mind but I know there are more) It’s fine to be in a show fandom! There’s nothing wrong with that! But again, the characterizations are different. When I’m talking about Oliver, I’m never talking about CW Oliver, and I tag accordingly. Why is wanting the same etiquette with Batman so uncouth?
The only thing I really cannot fully wrap my head around is the people who get all of their information from TikTok and Tumblr incorrect quotes blogs. These sources are great as a starting point for people to get into DC, but they aren’t DC! With the minority of the fandom with the loudest voices being from here and having such an iron grip on a good half of DC fanon interpretations, (Hal being an idiot, Guy being aggressive, every character other than Batfam being a punchline, Joker being an uncomplicated pun-making End Goal Bad Guy) it’s no wonder people get upset. It’s not wrong to like fanon, but when posting about characters you haven’t read a comics of/seen in media/only know from Batfandom, and then tagging them, it makes sense when people get annoyed about it. It’s like if I tagged Batman on an incorrect quotes post about Scooby Doo, because they’ve collaborated, and he’s inviting the gang over to his mega-mansion to meet his parents. The post isn’t about him, got him and the crux of his character wholly wrong, and only uses him for what is misinterpreted — his parents being alive.
That’s what it sounds like to me when Batfandom people make posts about the Batkids ‘totally owning’ Hal for being an immature idiot. The post isn’t about him, got the crux of his character wrong, and only uses him as the punchline which only works for his misinterpretation.
I was just wondering if you had thoughts on this, because I know for a fact it applies to Jason, but I’m not sure how since he isn’t within my sphere of knowledge. I also know you like Hal and was wondering if you had any more thoughts on the matter with him. He means a lot to me.
Thanks in advance!
-evilanon
I have a LOT of thoughts about it. I have no idea WHY they don't when they're told how to access them but I'm pretty sure it's def a COVID thing. I've talked about it a little bit before but people couldn't get out to comic stores so there goes physicals for the most part, and people are weird about piracy sometimes. As for the tagging situation I think they just don't care.
Really I think people are assholes honestly. They don't give a fuck. And as much as I would LIKE for it to change, it won't. Because even if you're the most polite person in the world, they get defensive and hide behind "people can like what they like!!"
and like. Fanon can be fun!! but. It's SO ANNOYING, and what really baffles me? They do it to the characters they claim to love too. Like Hal and Guy? Doesn't matter to fanon fans bc they aren't bats. but they do it TO THE BATS. (my enemy titans tower) and the thing is? They claim it doesn't hurt anyone? It does. Batfanon is some of the worst racism and misogyny I've seen in fandom (I know it can be worse, but this is just my personal experiences) and it's INSIDIOUS bc its often disguised as "the girls are too good for this!!" "Duke and Cass are the calm ones!!" but on the flip side how they treat the al Ghuls is INSANE. I just. It's insaneeeeeeeee.

hi robyn!!
I just read your post about complacency in fandom and wanted to say that if you ever feel the need to leave this fandom, join a new one or just yap about fanculture and fan fiction as a whole, I'll still support you and your content just as much.
Because you are so correct. With the recent hype around the reboot, a large portion of this fandom seems to have shown its true colours. I joined this fandom a long, long time ago (like legit 15 years ago) and had to have a real reckoning with myself in the aftermath of jkr beginning her crusade against trans people. I decided to stay at the time, because the general tenor of fandom seemed to be ferociously anti-jkr and trans inclusive. I still felt that guilt for remaining, but I honestly think it would be bad if I didn't, it kept me reevaluating my place here and working to be as trans inclusive and ethical in my fandom participation as I possibly could.
There were always those few people who still went to the parks, bought merch etc but they seemed to be largely outside of the fanfiction community and just fans of the original books/films. The people who then dipped their toes into the fanfiction community were swiftly educated on how to ethically participate in fandom, enjoy fanfiction without profiting JKR and not engage with official hp content/ accounts.
However I think on platforms such as tiktok, the two groups have begun to merge, without people learning or respecting the culture of the fan fiction community as a whole. This also happens on booktok, with people recommending fanfiction as 'books', selling bound fanfics to people completely unaware even of what fanfiction is or that they can read it free on ao3, and just completely bypassing the fan fiction community and its etiquette. Now, when I engage with any account on (particularly) tiktok about hp content, I worry that they engage uncritically with hp and aren't above financially supporting jkr. Often now I find I'm right, and if that's not a damning indictment of the state of fandom, I don't know what is.
You and other similar content creators have played a large part in educating newcomers on how to ethically engage with hp fanfiction, which contributed to the safety I felt in fandom before, but I feel like the makeup and tenor of the fandom has changed significantly and has been changing for a while now. I feel like we are being outnumbered and our work undone by vast swathes of people, (who unapologetically engage with jkr's work and buy official HP content), joining the fan fiction community and completely ignoring the culture of the space that they have joined. And that new flood of people seems now to have given license to a more quiet group who were here before (and only performatively anti-jkr), to begin buying official merch and hyping the reboot more freely again. It's sad to know that the fandom I felt safe in might not have really been as safe as it purported to be.
Before, I also feel that just engaging with character tags and fandom specific content etc on Tumblr or tiktok wasn't so harmful as it's becoming, because the fandom stance as a whole was so anti-jkr that just by increasing the popularity of those tags you weren't necessarily putting money in jkr's pocket, but I'm not so sure about that now. If the fandom culture shifts as a whole to one that's complacent with financially profiting jkr, it's just the truth that increasing its visibility is harmful.
That's the issue I'm now grappling with myself. I can do everything I can to minimise my impact, not buy the books, not stream the movies, no merch, no studio tour etc, but just existing in this fandom now feels damaging. I now regularly donate as much as I can to trans charities, gofundmes and top-surgery funds just to minimise the impact of my engaging with this content, but unless the general culture of the fandom changes soon, I might also have to leave.
I feel that's kind of sad, because it's never going to stop those who support jkr or frankly don't care about the lives of trans people from being in this fandom, I'll just be conceding a little bit more of this space to those groups of people, but I'm just not sure what to do anymore.
So thank you, you've been such a true and honest light in this community and if you feel you have to leave, I'll follow you to whatever greener pastures lie ahead. <3
love,
a friend
i would say good morning but its 5pm and i've just woken up (we don't talk about it) but HI !
summed it up PERFECTLY. no notes. the way tiktok works compared to other fandom spaces is so broad and it leads to so much overlap between fandom and generic fans, and that can be such an issue when it comes to retaining fandom values.
and yes !! i don't know if i explained it too well but it's less *my* space, and more the act of posting? especially when i see people post about the reboot, check their account, and it says "follow back". i think it's the fancasts that did it. it's the fact people blow up the fandom in random comment sections and celebrities comment sections and draw people to the fandom that's like,,, hi. we don't do this. because when you go into a comment section that's not part of this fandom and talk about the marauders, people won't think "oh they hate jkr and engage ethically" they'll just think "hm there's a part of harry potter i missed!" and start engaging. (not to mention the fact andrew is literally pro-trans and now gets asked about this universe in interviews where he can't just say "fuck jkr", he HAS to act complacent and UGH)
idk it's tough. it's been extra hard for months for me and i've always felt that guilt, but as i watch more people i considered friends support her, or just watch tiktok lean that way, it's no longer guilt for being in that space and more guilt for *providing* for that space.
OH last point because i said no notes but i can't shut up:
tiktok is not a platform for long-form discussion like tumblr it. here i read and reblog so many intense discussions and see so many critical thoughts in reblogs and replies and i think "yeah, we know how to address things", but tiktok is built for short and snappy videos. it's not built for the discussions i've been having over there whether thats jkr or etiquette or discourse or hierarchies, it's not Built for it.
which has been fine because i talk because i enjoy it, but i stopped enjoying it when it felt like i was educating people on a platform that isn't built for that.
ANYWAY !!!! lots of big discussions here and i agree with alllll of this. fandom has been a lot less community-based for a while now and i think i'm going to have fun building a new one or just sitting down with my people <3

my own advice post for twitter refugees. hello hi o/ my only impact on the fandom has been writing solitary snow lmao.
uhh. we use the tag #qsmp and thats where you can find most liveblogging, fanart, analysis, etc. << there isnt really an algorithm so imo best place to find content is just clicking or searching the tag :3
im a huge qbbh fan and i think most of us here are. we also have tons of other mains, so many people to follow depending on who you watch. (if my info is correct tho most of yall are ghosties)
we are generally ok with sexualizing adult characters here, we are mostly away from prying cc eyes. yes, even qbbh. you'll see the pregnancy posts. that being said dont come here to try n share our content with ccs, thats bad etiquette.
discourse here is smoother as long as you also agree to be courteous. this means owning up to mistakes or misinfo, arguing politely and sometimes backing off if its clear the other person isnt going to listen.
make sure to add tw tags to ur posts, such as for flashing lights, child death, child abuse, derealization etc. encourage rbs for your art! dont be shy in asking! rbs >> likes here :D
best way to join is to dive in, dont be nervous, very little ways you can make mistakes here. have fun! glad to have more ghosties in the army lmao

So I'm new to the Fandom and I'm really confused about Hopeless and fandom. I get they wrote horrid stuff but I dug deeper and... they warned people about minors trying to get into nsfw spaces? And that was actually turned against them too by multiple minors? And it seems anything dark at all is looked down on until it's something like chick x lightning, but jackson and lightning isn't fine. All this problematic stuff isn't fine, but this one thing is. Or is it a blind eye being turned? I'm confused about the entire Fandom really. And really scared away.
OK. long post here and a lot to go through so everything addressed goes under the cut.
long and short of it is, anon: don't let yourself be disheartened or scared to post or participate in fandom! tag appropriately, filter out what you don't want to see, internet etiquette, etc. etc.
so for anyone not in the know: hopelesss is a user in the cars fandom that wrote and created proship art and writing. the main thing they got under fire for was a darkfic of their oc's that depicted sensitive topics. they also additionally brought a nsfw drawing of a cars character in disneyland (?), of which they claimed no one else saw it but the action itself is still very weird. you don't do that dude.
now, thats all i know. my whole take on the issue is (as someone who thinks callout posts aren't necessary at all) that it was quite overblown.
as to correct and inform you, anon, you should know that while hopeless did warn minors about entering nsfw spaces, they were incredibly irresponsible about letting minors follow them and following minors. it was not "being turned against them too by multiple minors" which i'm not quite sure what you mean by that? the minors (and some adults too) were just speaking about their unpleasant experiences with hopeless and disproving hopeless's claim that they "didn't talk about it with anyone who didn't want to hear it" -- which they did do in a public server.
frankly, i find the following minors thing the most egregious fault because in other fandoms i have been in, all the 18+ accounts are very strict about not letting minors follow them. blocking accounts without ages in their bio, blocking minors, unfollowing/avoiding any minors, etc. etc. and i believe that is a basic thing anyone who runs an account posting 18+ content should do.
the whole thing with hopeless wasn't a case of a random user minding their business and posting what they wanna post, it was someone who was actively making other people uncomfortable and being irresponsible about their content and account
"And it seems anything dark at all is looked down on until it's something like chick x lightning, but jackson and lightning isn't fine. All this problematic stuff isn't fine, but this one thing is. Or is it a blind eye being turned?"
this I don't quite understand fully and may misinterpret so sorry in advance.
i'm not sure if you mean to imply with your first statement that lightning x chick is a "dark/problematic ship" but it isn't. people headcanon lightning's age to be however they want but it's pretty clear in the movie that he is an adult and i don't see mcchicks any differently than say, lightnesco or lightningstorm.
im not sure where you get the idea that ppl dont like lightningstorm when it's a pretty popular ship if ao3 tags are anything to go by, unless that's a typo. lightningstorm's definitely not a darkship either way unless someone interprets them like that or headcanons a huge age gap or something.
as for the whole problematic stuff in general -- if you don't personally like and see these ships or any others as "problematic", that's fine and okay! people like what they like and it's a matter of interpretation. it's not a "blind eye being turned", it's just people liking what they like and probably interpreting things differently.
you will rarely get any actual flack or harassment for posting, i can assure you that. I can't control your feelings towards the fandom and such but if your fears are in being harassed out, than that is very unlikely and will not happen, i promise you that. be internet safe and curate your experience however you like

I'm. crying. I didn't realize the Leona parallels... I'm so leonapilled I accidentally alude to him in random places (/jjjjj) 😭😭😭😭😭 but now that you say it... Yeah that's exactly how savanaclaw students see him, huh... I hadn't thought about it that way... I mean I don't think you're as intimidating as he could be but I guess it does fit in a way.... PARALLELS EVERYWHERE 😭😭😭
thank you for stating your boundaries clearly too !! now I'll try to keep them even more in mind 🙂‍↕️ from the things u listed I think I may have sent an ask once asking smth that could've possibly made u uncomfy but I kind of realized just after I had hit send 😭 I was like "wait maybe she wouldn't be comfortable answering this"... And ever since I always read my asks 73829193 times before sending them 😭😭😭 I deeply apologize for that... I think I've never asked smth like that again tho so I hope I can keep our interactions (on anon and outside anonymity) as comfortable as possible for you ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ I'll try my best for it not to happen again !!

Ew 💀 You see Him everywhere now… My condolences… YElxnsksbwjGaxxaga But yeah, I’m not a muscular tattooed cat boy, not by a long shot 😂 Best I can hope for to intimidate people is to make my best whimpering bird noise.
I don’t think I’ve ever been compared to… Him before, so that’s an interesting observation. I believe the characters I most frequently get compared to are Lilia (by the public/readers) and Jamil (by my friends). I guess Lilia because I’ve been told it’s hard to discern my age because of how I bounce between serious analysis/advice and half legible brain rot?? And Jamil because I tend to be pragmatic and dry in private but still end up playing the part of older sibling to others.
To the comment about the income thing, it was in the context of fandom and not asking for actual financial advice. I believe the gist of the (now deleted) ask was that someone was under the impression I was frequently commissioning artwork and wondered how I afforded it. This happened a while ago so I don't remember exactly why they might have come to that conclusion. The ask wasn't phrased rudely or anything, I just found it uncomfortable because I'm not okay with telling online strangers about money, finances, my spending, etc. I think most people would be uncomfortable with that, honestly.
While I do have a tag for advice, it's reserved for like... gameplay tips and reminders on fandom etiquette. It's NOT meant to encourage people to actually come to me actively seeking counsel. (In hindsight, perhaps a poor choice of word on my part 💦) If those advice posts ended up helping you out in some way, that's great! I'm happy for you. Please just remember to not impose on me too much. (Not sure if it's the turn of season or recent fandom news, but I've been getting a lot of spam or really lengthy asks lately.) I'm not here to be the unpaid therapist that the Twst fandom so often jokes that Yuu is. I'm not here to change the world and teach everyone to get along (which Yuu is voluntold to do www), either. I'm here to do my own thing, and that's it.
I appreciate that most people that interact with me are mindful about my boundaries 😅 Sometimes I do feel like I need to remind my audience of what those are, but thankfully I haven't really gotten flack for it.

Rules, Guidelines, (pretty much anything you need to know) for Roku Week 2024!
Prompts ✦ AO3 Collection ✦ Asks/FAQ
As Roku Week 2024 comes closer and closer, here are some rules, guidelines, and everything you need to know for this event!
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns that may not be addressed under the cut!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Just create something about Roku! Whether it's fanart, fanfic, edits, headcanons, meta, poetry, analysis, gifs (gifsets if you're feeling fancy) - anything and everything you can think of is welcome! Following the prompts is encouraged, but if you're really inspired by something outside of the prompt list, that's cool too!
Please use the tags #rokuweek and #rokuweek2024, as they will be tracked! You can also mention this tumblr, rokuweek, in your submissions if you want to be extra sure it gets reblogged!
All submissions will be reblogged here by the end of the day. While the tags above won’t be as closely monitored as they will during Roku Week, late submissions are allowed and encouraged! :)
You can also add your submission to the Roku Week 2024 Collection on AO3!
RULES & GUIDELINES:
1. Follow general fandom etiquette. The principles of being kind and respectful of others' works and don't like, don't read apply (for the latter, where applicable). Ship/character bashing will not be tolerated, and most importantly: tag your work properly!
2. Works that have been plagiarized or generated using generative AI will not be allowed.
3. NSFW works will be allowed - provided that any characters involved are consenting adults, and you follow Tumblr's guidelines regarding explicit content. Worst case scenario, you can post your submission elsewhere and just link it here so it can be shared :)
4. Whitewashing, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, sexism and any other forms of bigotry will not be tolerated. However, works that explore these themes (i.e, internalized homophobia) will be accepted, provided they are tagged with the appropriate warnings.
5. All works should primarily be about Roku, but other characters and relationships from the ATLA-verse that may not be from his era are welcome.
6. When posting a work with either visual or audio media, please try to include a description of said work in the post itself or in the ALT text. If you're not sure how to do that, here is a helpful guide all about image descriptions!
7. Have fun! This is supposed to be a fun event celebrating Avatar Roku, not to tear down anyone or anything.

Rambled in the tags so I figured I'd ramble here since I didn't see an ao3 link and I'm not familiar enough with Patreon or Kofi to know if it has the leave comments/messages feature or what the etiquette for that there is. Our beloved hellsite is great for that.
Love your stories. Very comfy and relaxing, even the more intense storylines. Big "getting tucked into bed" vibes fantasy stories. Or reading in the woods like Frodo at the beginning of FotR.
The spacy ones are somewhat cerebral? All futury and yet so incredibly human. Fuck protocol indees.
And then like.... Action-y romance superhero stories. They don't revolve around secret identities... I'm realizing a lot of the hero/villain stuff I read specifically on tumblr doesn't as often revolve mainly around secret identities? Some to be sure, I wonder if miraculous ladybug fandom has taken over that niche? Thoughts for another time.
As I mentioned in the tags I'm a bit tired and the stories helped relax me. My cat helped some too ^_^
The superhero ones are delightful. I'm a sucker for romance. It feels bizarre compared to other romance stories, in all the best ways. It's all very soft and gradual. Almost the whole "fell first vs fell harder" and it seems many of your main characters are the fell harder. As if they had to come around and remember that they could be loved. Very burnout gifted kid mood with Demi vibes.
I dunno if there's a set rule to powers in your world(s). But I do so enjoy figuring out through the narrative what certain people can do. Getting just a specific peak into their lives. I don't mind or even really notice the first person. (My spouse has a hard time reading first person). But yeah, each one is also a little mystery in trying to piece together power sets and so on.
This is long and if you've read this far... Well I've posted stuff and love getting comments to note solely scream at a void. Thank you for sharing your stories!
Apologies for the late response and I saw your tags! I found them rather delightful, thank you for that! And for this ask as well, this made me smile a big, happy smile.
I am really very happy that you enjoy my stories! Writing brings me so much joy and happiness, that I always hope I can share that with someone who reads them. I hope that my stories can make someone feel better or make a boring day brighter or help someone bridge time as they wait for an appointment. I am very glad they give off such a lovely feeling! That's genuinely everything I could hope for!
I am very happy that I managed to write the alien and superhero stories well as well! They are a joy to write as well and I am glad that the way I write them makes for fun reading!
I am very happy that you could relax with my stories - and your lovely cat. Cats really are such sweet beings.
Haha yeah, I have a lot of "fell first vs fell harder" vibes in many of my stories. I often try to show and build a connection with the characters before love comes into play, which is very much a demi vibe and many characters are indeed almost surprised that they are loved by others. Or rather, by the person that they fell in love with in return.
There isn't really a rule that connects all the stories, it's more that powers have limits or prices or side-effects and it's up to the person who has them to figure out what to do with that. And those who have no magical or supernatural powers to speak off, they get to be clever and smart.
I'm very happy that you enjoyed my stories and thank you so much for all your kind words. It makes me happy to know that my stories are liked and that people had fun reading them.

This is really disconcerting as I have rarely seen this in my experience as a Snape fan and have always treated it as an exception thus far, but it's also good news, isn't it? There still are snape haters, perhaps more so than before, but on tumblr, they have adhered to the tagging etiquette, from what I (and my mutuals) have seen. Yes, there are some hate posts here and there, but it's Tumblr's algorithm being a bitch, not the users' fault, and as far as I am concerned, by adhering to tagging etiquette, they want to avoid drama and respect Snape fans' preferences/zone. So it's all good!
In that case, we may start to encounter "nice snape haters" in greater numbers: people who may agree they are not being very fair when it regards him, people who say it's true they rather follow marauder fandom than hp canon, and aren't here to villify Snape or shame Snape fans -- they just don't vibe with him, respecting tagging etiquette to avoid causing drama or triggering people.
"Nice snape haters" is totally weird, and based on how I described them above, the term "hater" doesn't really fit. "Anti" sure doesn't; "hater" has too much of a negative bagage to qualify them. Not Snape-critical either because they aren't always here to talk canon; plus you can be critical AND a fan of Snape. I thus wanted to use another name for them, but I don't know which one.
(I'm not saying we will encounter lots of them, but we may, and it's time we give them a proper name to distinguish them from the snape haters we encountered so far, isn't it?)

Hey! I'm wanting to post my own writing but honestly I'm kinda scared and I just kinda worry that no one will see it..? How was it when you first started writing and do you have any tips for someone new to posting their work? Thank you ♡
hi omg i’m so sorry for replying to this just now!
i first started writing for toji and jjk was such an active fandom (like cod!) that i’m so thankful my works pierced through the tags and opened my blog for viewing and interaction
honestly i was really nervous when posting my work for the first time. like, i started this blog as a jjk meme (in a sense) blog before i transitioned into writing so the worry was really bloated 😭
but there was a nagging idea in my mind and i knew toji was a famous character already so my work was just going to be one in a hundred but i had to spit it out. i posted it with tags that matched my work (the character, character x reader, character x you, fandom x reader, etc.) i remember being advised not to clutter the tags cuz it might look like it’s spam so i made sure to be conscious of that too
i don’t really have a precise advise in ensuring that the work you will publish will be seen to the extent that you want it to be because in my first year of writing, engagement was fluctuating - even now, actually! sometimes it gets buried in the feed; sometimes no matter what i think, the work is just not that engaging. but when i started, engagement can range from 200 notes to 15. i remember it was the very first part of ‘how we break’ - my biggest series as of date - that actually reached my first ever 500
but even with that fluctuation, i kept writing cuz it was fun and kept engaging with the fandom - supporting writers; supporting artists; fandom rambles; etc - and was fortunate enough to have met mutuals who liked me and gained lovely followers who liked my works
i’m truly so sorry that this is not a proper advice. i also wish that i can be the type of person to say numbers don’t shake me but isn’t it so fun when people read your works? so i can’t really also say to not worry about numbers, but what i can 100% advice is to have fun!
write for yourself, first, before for others. curate a blog for yourself - your interests, your thoughts, your boundaries. and have fun!
(for semantics, also remember to use the right tags and engage with fandom with proper fandom etiquette)
god i’m so sorry again for this but i don’t really know how it happened. i just kept writing and here we are!

Rules & Guidelines (pretty much everything you need to know)
Prompts ✦ AO3 Collection ✦ Asks/FAQ
Hey ghouls! As MH Rarepair Month creeps closer and closer, here are some rules, guidelines, and everything you need to know for this event!
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns that may not be addressed under the cut!
What is Monster High Rarepair Month?
This event is dedicated to super rare romantic pairings from all generations of Monster High. The 'spirit' (pun intended) of this event has its roots in crackshipping, any ship that has less than 10 works on AO3 is permitted. (see the fandoms tagged for g1, g2, g3, the g3 movies, and general 'toys' fandom tags to see if your pairing is eligible)
Monster High Rarepair Month will run during the entirety of September, with prompts being delegated on a week-by-week basis.
How do I participate?
Just create something about an ultra-rare pair! Whether it’s fanart, fanfic, edits, headcanons, meta, poetry, analysis, gifs (gifsets if you’re feeling fancy) - anything and everything you can think of is welcome! Following the prompts is encouraged, but if you’re really inspired by something outside of the prompt list or want to combine them in any way, that’s cool too! (PS - if you have a really niche crack pairing you've been waiting to show off, this is your time to shine!)
Please use the tag #mhrarepairmonth in your works as it will be tracked! You can also mention this tumblr, mhrarepairmonth, in your submissions if you want to be extra sure it gets reblogged!
Feel free to add your work to our AO3 collection! It's by no means required, but it's fun to have everything all in one spot.
All submissions will be reblogged to this blog by the end of each week. Late submissions are also permitted, whether it's by a week or even longer! :)
What pairings count?
As mentioned above, ships should not exceed more than 10 works in the above MH AO3 fandom tags. We’re counting counterparts from each generation as separate characters, so if there’s a ship with >10 ships but they’re marked under the Monster High (Toys) fandom tag, take a closer look and see if the pairing from whatever generation you want to create for is eligible! Some exceptions to our >10 fic limit may apply, see this post for more information.
Polyships/OT3s/OT4s+ are allowed, provided they also follow this rule. Get creative - maybe you'll even create an entirely new relationship tag in the process? :)
Since this is a ship-focused event, your work should be focused on a romantic pairing; even if the characters aren't explicitly dating, they should hold a romantic interest in one another. Incestuous pairings and selfshipping will not be included in this event.
Are crossovers allowed?
Unfortunately, crossovers from fandoms outside of Monster High won't be permitted (sorry EAH we love you 💔) Feel free to cross over the various generations of MH characters, though! As long as your pairing follows the rest of the rules, go crazy!
Other Rules
1. Follow general fandom etiquette; The principles of being kind and respectful of others’ works and don’t like, don’t read apply (for the latter, where applicable). Ship/character bashing will not be tolerated, and most importantly: tag your work properly!
2. Works that have been plagiarized or generated using generative AI will be excluded from this event.
3. NSFW works will be allowed - non-con/dub-con and adult/child relationships will not be permitted. Please be sure you follow Tumblr’s guidelines regarding explicit content.
5. Have fun! Rarepair month is supposed be a fun and silly event to explore or create really rare pairings.

Hello recently fell back into the hetalia fandom again , uhh i kinda dont know how to navigate the fandom etiquettes around here anymore since the last time i was interested was like 8-9 years give or take and wonder what has changed (sorry if its an annoying ask...)
Hi! It’s not annoying at all, don’t worry! I’m not sure if I’m the right person to ask this though because I joined this fandom in 2021, no coming back to it then or anything, I got here as a new fan only 4 years ago haha!
But from what I have gathered through interaction with older and newer fans & what I’ve seen on old blogs I can tell you the following: people tend to be a lot more conscious about real life history, especially when it comes to shipping, but also tend to ignore canon more these days? You should definitely be ready to see a lot of character and ship interpretations that are rather far removed from canon (which isn’t particularly bad but you can like that or not I guess).
Hmm what else.. The manga is still ongoing with weekly updates, but we are currently in what I would call a canon AU arch called gangsta (or gangstalia). I haven’t kept up with reading but it’s kinda like if you combine a non-serious mafia AU with Yugioh-esque card game battles. (And we got some really cool outfits for the characters for that, even for some minor characters!)
What else is new.. If you like “discourse”: I think it was 4 years ago now that the hetalia collezione came out. It’s a book featuring character descriptions lots of little bits of information and trivia about the characters and there was 1 mention there of Austria and Prussia being cousins which caused a huge uproar for a while (a lot of people tend to ignore this now or don’t take it for canon because seriously wtf lol). And recently there’s been a lot of usuk hate on tiktok, seemingly because younger fans haven’t read any older manga strips started calling people names for shipping what they deem brothers or father/son. On tumblr we just block and ignore though, I generally don’t bring hate and negativity here onto my blog.
So much for what you might have missed in recent years. As for current fandom etiquette I think it’s mostly just the basics. Don’t spread hate, curate your online experience (don’t be afraid to use the block button), live & let live (ship & let ship), reblogs are better than likes, keep comments in the tags if they don’t add onto the post.
I think that’s it. This got longer than expected, I’m sorry for getting a little off on a tangent! I hope what I said is at least somewhat helpful & most importantly welcome back and I hope you have a good time coming back into the fandom 🥳🧡
