[ID: a comic in the TUA paranatural au, depicting Patch recruiting Lila to spy on the Activity Club for her. Both of them are about twelve. The first three panels are a flashback of an argument between Diego and Patch.
Flashback, Panel 1: A younger Patch shouts at a younger Diego, "WHAT is the Activity Club!" Diego growls "None of your business."
Panel 2: Patch says, teary-eyed, "You've been so different since you joined."
Panel 3: Diego looks guilty while Patch continues, "It's like it ate your brain! Why won't you talk to me anymore?"
Present Day, Panel 1: Patch is leaning on a desk while Lila sits on it. Patch says, "So, yeah. That's why I want to know what the Activity Club does."
Panel 2: Lila kicks her feet and says " And that's why you want me to join YOUR club. So I can spy on them for you." Patch smiles, embarrassed, and says "Yeah, basically."
Panel 3: Patch hunches her shoulders, saying, "It sounds bad when you say it like that."
Panel 4: She looks beseechingly up at Lila. "But I'm really worried about him. He won't talk to any of his friends. What the hell did they do to him!"
Panel 5: Lila waves her hand reassuringly. "No, I totally get it!"
Panel 6: Lila holds out her hand to Patch, smiling. "I'll tell you everything I learn."
Panel 7: She continues, "Trust me." Meanwhile, she writes a list in a notebook, headed with "Lies for Patch". End ID]

even after all these years the gang learning about noahs ghostliness is so funny to me. like obviously they are freaked out that their friend is dead and was murdered. but no one is having a revelation about ghosts being real its not even mentioned. its like yea yea we all accept the existence of ghosts. back to the one living in our apartment.

thinking about spirits rn
do you think spirits can change color? i mean, of course they can, davey said that he never let cryptide’s gray energy grow any paler, but do you think that means the spirits that are pale are closer to becoming wights than others? do you think a spirit can go from black and become lighter/gain saturation? like black -> dark purple -> purple -> light purple -> white? spirits can feed from spectrals with a different color than them, altho its more difficult. do you think they could adapt over time, their energy changing in hue so they could feed more easily if they were fed often/long enough, or do you think they are forever stuck as they are unless they go full white

1) Three non-romantic duos: Hmmm...brotps I adore would be Jack and Daniel (SG-1), Sam and Daniel (SG-1), and Lune and Matsen (Jade Torch -- is it cheating to use my own book??? xD) If that's cheating, then Sam and Frodo (LotR).
2) A ship that might surprise others: I kinda ship Link x Mipha from BOTW. I like Zelda x Link too, but something about Link x Mipha is just so sweet and tragic. I like that they knew each other for a lot longer than Zelda and Link knew each other.
Let's be real. I don't have a lot of crazy ships. Although, in SG-1, I do ship Vala x Tomin (but I also like Vala x Daniel).
3) Last Song: Shackleton by Adam Young
4) Last Film: My parents and I watched Hitched for the Holidays last night. Very funny romcom with Joey Lawrence. It's a Hallmark movie from 2012, so just before they all got so unbelievably cookie cutter/copy+paste with their plots.
5) Currently reading: Operation Grendel by Daniel Schwabauer
6) Currently watching: The X-Files. I'm nearing the end of season 1. I've never seen it before, and I'm loving it!
7) Currently consuming: Coffee
8) currently craving: idk. I don't have a strong craving for anything right now.

Ianthe's fight with Silas
Ok so I was rereading this post from @thewinterstale because it's very good and I was reminded of something that's always bothered me about the fight scene between Ianthe and Silas in GtN: How on earth does Ianthe just whip out teleportation?
This is never explained nor even referenced again and it doesn't appear to be like...a thing necromancers can do.
Except, it is, and the method actually fits quite neatly with the one way we know it's done. Lyctors can move from point A to point C without going through point B, because they can travel via the River. It's a whole thing to do, with wards to keep away the ghosts (ravenous lava fish etc.) but it is a thing none the less.
The River is described as an oily, disgusting, bloody soup, not too dissimilar to the "rain" that comes with Ianthe and Silas falling out of the ceiling. Staying in it any length of time is extremely dangerous, but how dangerous would it be to travel a couple of metres? We never see it done by other lyctors but presumably because it's a lot more effort than just walking across a room, but this was not exactly a normal situation.
Did Ianthe, self professed limnal magician, manage that feat in her fight by detouring via the river? Was she even aware of what she did? And was that what caused Colum to go full possessed? I just reread the fight scene and Colum does totally grey and still as Silas siphons him, as normal, until Silas sticks his hands into Ianthe's horrible fat puddle.
Silas knelt by the puddle, and - silver chain starting to warp and buckle on his perfect white tunic - thrust his hand into it. Colum made a noise as though he had been punched in the gut.
It's only after she pulls Silas through the wherever that Colum starts moving again, while still being heavily siphoned, which...y'know we never saw that afore actually? And it's extremely shortly after that that he becomes obviously possessed. What happens when you open a door to the River, in a place as metaphysically shaky as Canaan House, in the presence of a person being siphoned, Eighth style, and pull their necromancer through the limnal spaces? I wonder...

Thinking about how there's a lot more ghosts wandering Mondstadt in the Archon Dvalin AU than usual because Venti is usually the one sending off spirits into the afterlife and well. he's kinda stuck on that side post-Cataclysm
At first there weren't any because they just followed Venti, but afterwards there were some that still lingered and the number just kept piling up over the centuries. Many did eventually go on their own, but there's just more that didn't want to or simply couldn't
Dvalin doesn't know how to send them off, no one really showed him how and he doubts that even if he knew, he probably couldn't. Still, whenever a spirit decides to show themself, he stays with them for a bit, just to alleviate their burdens even a little and maybe help them find enough peace
It's probably another thing that eats at him alive because he couldn't even help those that he failed to protect, no matter how much most of them say it isn't his fault
And then, after the whole reconciliation with Celio thing, one of the lingering spirits asks him for a song. Before, he might've gently turned down the request, but after everything, he decided he might as well
Dvalin starts singing an old song he loved. Singing it had been painful, once, considering it was made as a duet and having to listen to the silent answer just brought him nothing but grief. Now, there's a sort of peace to how the breeze and the sound of nature fill in the gaps and pauses.
Over the course of the song, more and more ghosts come to listen. By the end of it, Dvalin opens his eyes to see most of them disappear, not in terms of hiding away like usual but rather beginning to dissolve into light as they finally move on
The last one to leave was the one who requested a song. She turns to smile at him. "I suppose I can finally tell that bard how much you've grown," she says before finally dissipating into the wind

Erika didn't answer, but the way she averted her gaze and squeezed the bedsheets told Randall quite a bit, and so he ventured to ask, "Is it because you're...a little shier than your brother? Is that why you think they won't like you?"
There was a pause as Erika lowered her head, but she nevertheless made a little sound of confirmation all the same: While her brother was a regular social butterfly, happily talking anyone and everyone's ears off without needing any prompting (much to everyone's amusement), Erika was much quieter, very rarely daring to speak up. If asked a question, of course, she would answer, but generally speaking, she kept to herself, with dinner that evening being no different.
But what if that was a bad thing, she wondered? What if they would like Lon more because he was friendly and talked a lot? What if they wouldn't like her at all because she was so shy? It only compounded her nerves about being around these new people; just because they were family didn't make her any less shy. She liked them, and she wanted them to like her too, but still, she was shy nonetheless.
"Oh, Erika..." Randall said gently, leaning over to kiss her blonde locks as he soothed, "It's okay to be shy, really, it is! Some people are more...outgoing, like your brother, yes..."
He spared a glance at Lon (the boy was already fast asleep, all curled up contentedly in his bed and thus blissfully unaware of the current conversation) before he turned back to Erika, continuing, "But some people are also...quieter, more shy. And there's nothing wrong with that, and your great-grandparents and your granduncles know that. And they understand! They know you're shy, but that doesn't mean they won't like you!
And besides, this is only their first day here," he added. "They're going to be staying here a while, and so they'll have plenty of time to get to know you, and for you to get to know them. Even if it takes a little time, it's okay."
"Are you sure?" she asked nervously, and Randall nodded as he raised his left hand, saying, "Scout's honor, my spooky little girl."
