vampire au where they can only drink the blood type they were before they were turned. other blood has an almost poisonous effect, burning them from within like acid and drinking too much of it can kill them
in the old days, before the knowledge of blood types, it made humans they could feed on absolutely precious. they're kept safe, pampered and doted on; a vampire’s most prized possession
attacking another vampire's human is seen as the highest insult; not only is it a slight against them, it also carries the implication of "i want you to starve"
it's also used as the cruelest of punishments; starving a vampire for months, until they're feral with hunger just for their torturer to throw in a random human, watching them desperately suck down poison, their instincts begging them to keep drinking even as it kills them
ghost is one of the few who survived it; thrown in a pit so deep, he saw stars in the middle of the day, left with nothing but the dried bodies of the humans roba drained without care, others with their throats slit, blood he can't drink spilled out around them
a taunt of the one thing he needs but will never get
but ghost hasn't survived this long just to give up here
he refuses to die in this stinking, rotted pit
ghost is a force of nature as he descends over roba's manor; killing any who wander into his path until the halls run red. until he gets his hands on roba and tells him a secret:
vampires can feed on the blood of any vampire, regardless of blood type
it becomes a legend in vampire high society; if you starve another, you'd best make sure they actually die
otherwise you might end up piled in a dining room, the vampire you left for dead lounging on a throne of corpses with his fangs lodged in your throat
ghost decimates roba's empire, burning it to the ground until no one dares to speak his name in fear of incurring his wrath. it's incredibly taboo for a vampire to feed off another but ghost's too powerful for anyone to challenge him and the other vampires are too scared to try. scared of what he's willing to do, the lengths he'll go to; not that they'll ever admit it
soap is the first human he ever brings to court; delicately bathed in the finest silks and jewels, his throat always bare so he can show off ghost's ownership, his bite framed in lace
he's not like the delicate waifs the other vampires show off; he doesn't cling to his master, demure and submissive. he shows off his teeth as often as any vampire, fully willing to rip out the throats of any who insult him or ghost
a feral master needs a just as feral pet
#this also has me thinking of the different ways vampires would test blood before they drink it#obviously they wouldnt go straight for the bite just to get a mouthful of poison#have you seen the interview with the vampire movie and that scene with lestat and his sharp ring cuff thing?#ghost would absolutely have something like that#i see him having a full skeleton gauntlet type thing that cuffs onto his wrist and fingers#and at the end of his fingers hed have the claws#using them to shallowly stab johnnys throat#just enough for a drop to run down to his collarbone for him to lick up#goddamn#soft stop writing half your aus in the tags challenge#its hard okay i like to keep the post clean but then i get supplementary ideas so they go here#i only wanna present one idea at a time but i need everyone to picture soap dressed like one of the brides from van helsing#anyway high vampire!ghost and his beloved human pet!johnny au when#also peep the coraline reference lmao i had to#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#we’re a team. ghost team#soapghost#ghostsoap#ghoap#simon ghost riley#ghost cod#john soap mactavish#soap cod#cod mw2#save post

poster of lestat de lioncourt as liane de pougy:
based on a poster (under the cut) of french courtesan Liane de Pougy who was openly bisexual, left her husband armand, escaped to paris where she tried acting, had a long-term relationship with a woman whom she wrote a book about after said woman left her, had a long list of affairs, described herself as a terrible mother who saw her child as a doll to dress up, was regarded as one the most beautiful women in Paris, and ultimately became a princess. fascinating woman, really

Poster for Liane de Pougy at the Folies Bergères, Paul Berthon (c. 1890s).
#lestat de lioncourt#lestat#iwtv#interview with the vampire#tvl#decided to use this as a reference after seeing it in my art nouveau poster book#but i promptly fell into the rabbit hole that is liane’s life#a quote from liane about the woman she wrote a book about:#‘during the summer natalie wrote me a line saying that she was in love—madly in love with a woman—#and that this love outstripped all her other loves by a long way. rather vexed I answered: ‘the best in your life was me! me! me!’’#<—and if this isn’t the most loustat shit 💀#she really feels like an amalgamation of many anne rice characters plus anne rice herself.

Louis and Lestat are laughing over shots of drunk ppl neck at a bar and Louis is like, "you wanna hear something crazy though? I topped him for 70 years." The laughing stops abruptly but after a moment's pause, Lestat says "ah, you mean you topped him from the bottom" and continues nursing his beer. And Louis' like "uuuh, NO. I mean I topped him." And Lestat, thinking that they've reached the source of the misunderstanding, says "ooooh, I see now, you mean you bottomed for him from the top." And Louis' like "...no, no, what?? no, ~~~I~~~ topped ~~~him~~~." And Lestat is like "??? OH! Oh my god, how silly of me, I thought we were talking about sex! You must be referring to some modern game I'm unfamiliar with, like bottle caps?" And Louis says "Lestat, I am talking about sex, I topped Armand for 77 years" and Lestat laughs and says "Oh, Louis, and I'VE been the one hermited away in a little shotgun shack! I don't think that word means what you think it means, but you're very cute." It takes another 7 minutes for them to truly come to an understanding, but not before Lestat literally throws his hands up and attributes the confusion to a language barrier that they won't be able to get past and maybe they should just 'move on.' When the realization really hits Lestat he's left with a profound sense of horror that almost immediately morphs into smug satisfaction that both Louis and Armand have been having the worst sex of their lives for nearly a century, but then it goes 360 fully back round to a horror so sobering that Lestat's blood alcohol level has shot down to base level at miracle speed. all they can do now is stare at each other and Lestat is hoping with all of himself that Louis can see the genuine sorrow pouring from his eyes and Louis is thinking "i forgot that he can really be so empathetic, i've gotta let him hit tonight" and Lestat says through blood tears, "Louis, one time over a century ago you asked me why God put us here. I know now, in every atom of my being, that God put me here to fuck you the right way"

Paring: Lestat de Lioncourt x reader
Synopsis: sick and tired as you are of Lestat’s treatment you decide to put your situationship on hold, until he comes for you. Inspired by the SDCC trailer.
Warnings: toxic relationship, kissing, p in v sex, blood drinking, biting, choking, clit pinching, edging, violence, butchering of the French language.
A/N: reader is AFAB. They/them pronouns used, but French is a gendered language, which forces me to decline the adjectives as feminine whenever Lestat uses them when referring to reader.
The bustling in the dressing room is doubled by the fact that there’s no space to move; the concert is due to start in no time and you are all still running about, trying to prepare the man of the hour, the rock star the people in the arena are cheering, whose name they’re screaming at the top of their lungs: The Vampire Lestat. The one and only.
NSFW and 18+ only please!
Your current walking, not breathing headache. The undead man you’re trying to ignore with all your might.
You had asked a colleague to do his hair and makeup these last few nights, even though you’re supposed to be his personal stylist, and threw yourself into working with the rest of the band as a revenge for the way he’s been treating you lately; you know you’re on borrowed time, that he’s letting you give him the cold shoulder that, if he truly wanted, you’d be still working on him, whether you liked it or not.
You almost crash in one of the documentary crew people: they swarm everywhere and are always in everyone’s general space, filming and asking questions. You try to lay low, do your job and then hide until the next concert, yet you feel like the journalist, Daniel Molloy, has his eyes trained on you behind his tinted glasses, and you don’t like it: Lestat has a rabid fanbase, if anyone had the inkling he’s fucking you (because to call whatever it is what you two have a ‘relationship’ would be an exaggeration), you’d have no peace.
Lestat has been a menace, more than his usual self, during rehearsal and in his dressing room, unhappy with the various options for the Halloween concert, changing his outfits too many times and now your colleagues are in a hurry to prepare him, hence why you’re here instead on your perch backstage, ready to do touch ups in between songs.
You ignore his stunning eyes as you bend to finish applying the last layer of powder on his forehead and nose.
“Ma choue.”
You can hear is deep voice in your head, almost snapping the small brush in a half in annoyance: he knows you hate it when he calls you ‘my cabbage’, it makes your blood boil that it’s supposed to be a term of endearment; who, in their right mind would call someone at least dear to them ‘cabbage’? Might as well call them ‘lettuce’ or ‘ tomatoes’!
“Tu me manques.” He continues, his face not betraying any emotion, while his hand moves sneakily to caress the inside of your tight; in your head his voice has taken that low timbre of when he’s deep inside of you, fighting his orgasm.
“Would that be all, Mr. De Lioncourt?” You ask, coldly, moving away from his grasp. “You don’t look like you need me.”
Your words echo his when he dismissed you, not longer than a week ago, right before the first day of shooting.
As used as you are to his mercurial moods, that day you were already angry with him, his careless words were the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back and made you decide to put whatever the two of you have going on (“Still better than Twilight” a voice in your head keeps telling you) on an indefinite hold or, as indefinite as he’ll decide it’s going to be.
Before leaving for the backstage, you let one single thought ring through your mind, positive as you are that he’s listening:
“Fuck you Lestat! The only thing you miss is my blood!”
To everyone else his face betrays no emotion, you’re used to read in between the lines with him and the twitch of his mouth tells you there’s going to be hell to pay: you’ll burn that bridge when you’ll get there, if ever, now it’s your time to be an asshole, and have fun while you’re at it.
You run into the dressing room swearing under your breath: how in the name of all is holy and sacred you forgot one of the foundation sponges here? You didn’t even use it on Lestat!
In a hurry you start rummaging through all the crap and garbage your colleagues and Molloy’s crew have left around: between your crazy work hours and the concerts dates being so close to one another, you don’t have the time to buy a new one and you find yourself hunting for this stupid one that’s finished God only knows where.
“Looking for this, ma choue?”
You turn around too fast, whipping the muscles of your neck painfully to look at Lestat, who has closed, and locked, the door behind his back and is leaning against it, pink sponge in his hand.
You know he’s fresh off the stage after the third encore, the pinkish red of perspiration is staining the dying makeup and collar of his elaborate shirt.
“I should have known you had taken it.” You growl back.
“What should a man do when he’s been ignored?” He says nonchalantly. “You left me with no choices, ma belle.”
Instinctively you start looking for a way out of the small room, knowing all too well there’s only the door, and that he stands on your pathway out of here and towards the safety of your hotel room.
“Perhaps, a man, should ask himself why he’s been ignored.”
You square your shoulders, yet your insecurity is betrayed when you start pinching the inside of your right arm, where he’s first bitten you.
The wound has healed nicely, the scar remains, too small to be truly noticed if not for the constant redness of your picking at the skin there.
You remember when he first drank from you, so many months ago when you still believed the whole ‘Vampire Lestat’ persona was just a stage play; he had looked at you with those eyes, mesmerizing, whose color you couldn’t truly name, making you feel like a lamb would in front of a hungry wolf, right before gently grabbing your uncovered arm to bite the delicate skin and drink enough blood to make you feel dizzy on your feet.
“And what did a man do?” He asks, advancing like the predator he is, as if he owns the room hell! The entire building.
You try to stand your ground, shoulders squared, legs firmly planted on the floor: the bridge is here, you might as well go down swinging.
“Oh, I don’t know, treat me like a blood bag and demean me in front of the cameras?”
Two days before your personal bombshell, he had complimented the taste of your blood, and responded a second too late, when you had bluntly asked if he looked at you like he would a steak, then the whole ‘Do I look like I need you?’ incident had happened: the proverbial icing on the cake.
To be absolutely clear, you don’t expect anything from him that is not great sex (narcissist or not, he knows how to show you a good time and not having to breathe to live helps when you’re going down someone) and a bit of consideration.
“Oh, that.” He stands in front of you, impossibly tall, cutting off any escape route. “Would you like me to apologize publicly? Perhaps in front of the crowd tomorrow?” He mocks you.
And you fall for it: hook, line and sinker.
“Don’t you fucking dare!” You growl, invading his personal space, as if you’d ever pose a threat for him.
In a second you find yourself against the wall, arms stretched over your head, your work bag on the floor.
“What would you do, ma choue, how would you stop me?”
You’re so angry you’d kill him with your mind, if only you could!
Uselessly you try to kick him, squirming in his light hold, until he’s plastered against you with your legs around his trim hips.
“Let me go, now!”
That wins you a laugh, a low rumble against your chest: he knows that you know that he loves when you fight back, that your fascination with him doesn’t stop your fiery spirit to burn bright, like a light in the darkness.
“Why would I do such a thing?” His lips leave butterfly kisses all over your pulse point. “After scheming to have you here. That would be most stupid, wouldn’t it?”
Slowly, seductively, his hips grind against yours, his erection already pushing against your core, almost forcing a wail of need from your lips: even angry you missed the liquid need pooling in your belly as soon as your bodies are near, how his touch would ignite your desire and burn any reasoning to keep him away.
“I hate you so much!” And you both know is a lie.
“Then why can I smell how ready you are for me, ma petite?”
You let your head slam against the wall, baring your neck to his fangs, now tracing a path of goosebumps leading to your collarbone and heaving breasts.
You squirm against him, not trying to evade him, but because you need him desperately: you want to tear his clothes off his body and fuck your rage and pent up desire until you are both spent on the filthy carpet of the dressing room.
The words almost leave your mouth, when knocking on the door, followed by the voice of your fellow make up artist stops you, and him.
“Are you coming or not?” She asks from the corridor. “I need to shower! Come on!”
“I’m on my way!” You shout back, your desire retreating as your brain reminds you of the way he’s been treating you.
Lestat eyes you with a smirk on his lips; for a moment you think he’ll not let you go and blow your illicit relationship for the whole crew to see. His eyes seem to shine as he stares into yours, searching, searching as you wonder, again, what color they truly are.
“Saved by the bell.” He murmurs in your ear, letting your shaky legs off from around his hips. “Off you go, ma petite lapinou. You’re not going to be as lucky the next time.”
You’re still trembling as you grab your bag and rush to your friend, cursing yourself for being so weak in your resolve.
As per your contract you, and the other two make up artists, are supposed to share the hotel room to kill the costs for the whole production; the rest of the crew does the same, while the actual band members have rooms for their own, usually in a better hotel than the one chosen for you all.
The wandering life you have all chosen has changed those plans: in fact you have the hotel room all for yourself, since one colleague is in a committed relationship with one of the sound technicians (they always crash together), the other is in a situationship with a girl from Molloy’s crew; the relationship is even more toxic than whatever you have going on with Lestat, yet the two always bunk down together.
You don’t mind having all the space, and the bathroom for yourself: you love the quiet after a concert and before you are all on the road again.
You exit the bathroom, your skin still warm after the shower. You hear the TV on in the background, not giving it much attention: it’s just white noise to keep you company as you dry your hair and decide what to wear to go out with some colleagues.
“Now, what is this?”
You screech in surprise and almost slip on your ass.
“Are you out of your fucking mind? Why are you here?! I’m naked!”
Lestat looks at you from the armchair where he’s sitting, long legs encased in skin fitting leather and a white shirt half unbuttoned to showcase the hard planes of his chest you’re trying very hard not to ogle.
“You haven’t answered my question, ma petite lapinou.”
He’s holding your Taylor Swift pink T shirt, showing it to you with a frown on his brow.
Him and Taylor, better, the respective fan bases have this crusade going on, sniping at each other: the swifties being absolutely rabid whenever one of Lestat’s songs is higher in the charts or his tours sold out faster than hers. Taylor has published another remastering of her latest album and Lestat responded with new songs that beaten her to the top: it’s an ongoing messy feud and Lestat loves throwing jabs at her and her fans in his interviews. Thank God he has no control over his X and Instagram accounts.
All of this considered, you bought it before your fallout with him, as a prank: you thought about appearing in his hotel room clad only in that to see how he would react, and reap the benefits. You deciding to withdrew from the ‘relationship’ killed that idea; you have been using it to sleep.
“It’s a T shirt.” You answer.
“That I can see.” He says reigning in his annoyance at your pretend ignorance. “I have never pegged you as a fan of mademoiselle Swift.”
“With the things you don’t know about me, you could build a ladder from here to the moon.” You shrug your shoulders, hoping he’s not snooping in your mind right now.
He throws the T shirt in the general direction of the bed and spreads his legs even more, the outline of his bulge clear against the tight fitting leather.
“Going somewhere, ma petite?”
His voice is a low rumble that goes straight to your core.
“Yeah.” You feign indifference. “Out with some people, have fun. I have decided I’m going to play drunk trick or treat.”
He’s not wearing any makeup now, he looks like a carved marble statue come to life, yet you can see curiosity etched on his beautiful, alien features.
“I am not, comment tu le dis, privy to this particular brand of trick or treating.”
You tighten the towel around your head, you’re going to need it.
“It’s pretty simple, actually. I go out, get drunk and fuck the first person I meet. Having an orgasm, finally, is going to be my treat. It has been too long.”
In a heartbeat you find yourself slammed against the wall. You should be used to his inhuman speed, yet he’s managed to knock the breath out of your lungs again.
Your ears are ringing, the towel having done a poor job at shielding your head from a hard knock against the wall: one of these days you’ll get a concussion. How fucked up is it that you’re accepting your fate so calmly?
Your vision swims as your eyes try to focus on his face, now contorted in rage: Take that asshole, you think.
“Who would be the lucky candidate, ma petite?” He growls, his hand finding home around your throat. “Perhaps one of Molloy’s subordinates? Or one of the sad men drinking themselves in an early grave in the hotel lobby?”
“Anyone would do.” You spat back, despite the pressure of his hand. “You wouldn’t know how to find my clit with two hands, a flashlight and a neon sign pointing at it!”
For a second his hold is too tight, cutting off your air supply completely: is this how you die?
The thought flies out of your head when you find yourself on the bed, coughing and trying to absorb as much air as your poor lungs can manage, Lestat between your splayed legs: you have gotten to him, to his pride and possessiveness. Revenge tastes so sweet, knowing you can slither under his skin the same way he does with you.
“Ouch!” You whine when he strips you of the towels, uncaring of the cotton burning your skin.
“Two hands, a flashlight and a neon sign, is that what you said ma belle pute?”
You try to push him away, fruitlessly: he’s far too heavy and strong for you, even if he were a human man, yet you trash under him and try to go for his eyes, like a cat, until two of his long fingers pinch your clit cruelly.
You cry out in pain, arching under him in the vain attempt to escape your punishment.
“I hate you so fucking much! I wish I could put a stake through your heart and see you die!”
He doesn’t move for a second; he truly seems a marble statue, Bernini’s masterpiece, betrayed by the shining of his eyes.
You scream when his fangs pierce the delicate skin of your neck, and his cock slams into you.
The pleasure is a wave that engulfs you and your senses. You don’t know where you are, who you are, you’re only feeling his heart beating to the rhythm of yours as his hips meet yours, again and again, fast and hungry in the desperate pursuit of his own end.
You can’t plant your feet on the mattress, too taken by the impossible high you’re experiencing, all of your senses drunk on him and on the pleasure burning through you, the tight band in your belly snapping, forcing another scream from your lips.
You whine when his fangs leave your neck.
Through the roaring of your own blood in your ears, you can ear his moans of pleasure when the pain of your nails in his back finally register in his brain. Through hooded eyes you look at his beautiful face, now marred by the red of your blood, his pupils so enlarged you can’t see the color of the iris.
He’s still hard inside of you, not pounding away anymore his hips have taken a sensual, slow rhythm, meant to savor the warmth your body provides.
He kisses you when you try to say his name, your taste, metallic and heady in your mouth, pushes you into a frenzy he doesn’t let you follow, forcing you to go slow and feel the way he owns your body.
You arch your spine when he starts kissing your neck and chest, unhurried and possessive, his cockhead finding your G spot to bully it again, to feel your walls clamp again around his erection, too slow to throw you into the throes of another orgasm but enough to keep you on the razor’s edge, your moans and keens music to his ears.
You buck under his weight when his skilled fingers find your center again, massaging your bud with slow, deliberate motions.
“Two hands.” He groans after a vicious push. “A flashlight and a neon sign, n'est-ce pas? Then why are you moaning, ma belle?”
You grab his arms, needy and desperate for the end he’s denying you, embarrassed by the squelching sounds your cunt makes around his cock.
“Anyone would do.” He spats in your face, pinching your clit cruelly, to enjoy your whines of pain and how your body squirms under his.
You want to beg for mercy, scream how sorry you are but his devious fingers have rendered you speechless and thoughtless, mad for an orgasm he’s denying you with a cruel smile.
His forehead meets yours, now that the pace is slow. He’s switched to French without truly realizing what he’s doing, too lost in feeling your muscles clench and massage his cock: he’s missed your body, something you must never know.
His tongue finds the bites on your neck, licking lazily at the blood still spilling as his hips pick up the pace again, grinding cruelly against your puffy clit, drunken words of appreciation fall from his lips when your cunt wounds so tightly around his cock, forcing him in deeper and deeper, the fullness blanking your mind to his words and to the world around you.
You shatter like crystal again, forcing him over the edge as well, your combined screams of pleasure reverberating against the cheap walls, his breaking the table lamp on the desk.
Your cunt milks him of all he can give and robs him of his strength; it’s a miracle he manages to pull out and fall by your side, unfocused eyes trained on the chipped ceiling.
You hear him stretch luxuriously next to you as you try to find the strength to go to the bathroom and deal with the mess of blood and semen he’s left on your body.
Your legs wobble when you stand and the room spins as you bend to retrieve your Taylor Swift T shirt fallen on the floor, after your ‘activities’; you hear him say something in French, his voice a low purr and you can feel his eyes trained on your naked arse.
“Shall I remind you I have taken Spanish in high school?” You say, wobbling to the bathroom as you feel his come slide down your legs, ignoring how he grabs his shirt to wipe the excess of blood on his face.
When you come back he’s still laying in bed, smoking, arms spread on the headboard as if he owns the place.
“This place is horrible.” He says, as if you had chosen it yourself. Sincèrement affreux."
“Your tour manager picks the place for us, which means that you did.” You retort, sliding in bed to put your head on his naked shoulder. “This one isn’t so bad. The clown themed one was worse.”
“Clown themed?”
He wants to know more, but you’re already asleep, out like a light; he can hear the whooshing of your blood through your veins, now that your heartbeat has calmed into your usual tattoo.
Without waking you up, he kills his smoke and tries to make himself comfortable on the lumpy mattress: perhaps that’s why you have been in such a bad mood lately. He will look into it as soon as he wakes up from his slumber: he’s going to be famished and his tour managed looks delicious.

Louis and bestie reader fighting the married allegations after the books is published (lestat and reader dedicated chapters were neck to neck)
MARRIAGE ALLEGATIONS 😭 the video has me crying that's exactly how they talk to each other too
Ik Daniel's messy enough to purposefully give bestie reader one or two more chapters than Lestat just to start something (also there really was that much bestie reader content to put in there).
This concept is so funny to me, here's a short list of things bestie reader centric things in Daniel's book that started a lavender marriage conspiracy theory:
During the interview, Daniel once jokingly referred to bestie reader as Louis's 'girl crush' and instead of laughing it off or defending his relationship with Armand, Louis said something about bestie reader being such an amazing person she warrants feeling deeper feelings than a simple 'crush'.
Sometimes the bestie reader tangents Louis goes on are so long that Daniel just pretends to take notes (because his non-fiction book on vampires doesn't need a chapter detailing Louis's fascinating introduction to the world of skincare).
There's at least two anecdotes in the book about reader and Louis silently agreeing to act like they're together while out when reader wants to avoid male attention.
Even though Louis isn't planning on dying, he's implied that bestie reader is in his will.
Louis and bestie reader once got into a playful argument about whether or not they would have been in a lavender marriage if bestie reader was alive in the early 1900's. When reader rejects his joking proposal (like the girl in the video), Louis (who has had multiple vampires literally beg for this level of commitment from him) was a little too offended by the response. Daniel summarizes this interaction and puts it in the book (for context, not drama ofc).
Bestie reader has a very intricately designed ring that Louis gave her as a gift. She may or may not wear it on her ring finger every day.
Bonus/only slightly related:
After reading the book, Lestat says that he left Louis to Armand not to some random girl. Lestat's ranting is so intense it takes Louis a second to realize he's talking about bestie reader. Things do not get better when Louis tells Lestat that if he so much as looks at bestie reader the wrong way Louis isn't even going to get mad, he's just going to leave.
I'm sure you can imagine how interesting Lestat and bestie reader's relationship is right after their first meeting. ---- a/n this ask found me at such an ideal time because I was thinking of potentially writing an iwtv fic primarily set in the early 1900's timeline where reader and Louis are friends and they get married in an attempt at appeasing both of their families. Does it work? Maybe for about two weeks, but it's okay because then they get to be family and reader can be the one adult that actually treats Claudia well. Also I feel like peak toxic Lestat would use her as a bargaining chip every five minutes 😭. It's not very planned out yet, but if anyone's interested, pls lmk <33

Be careful, it's one of a kind! - Or: the trial script.
I took a few screenshots and put them through the editor, and there are a few interesting tidbits of information that can be gleaned from the few shots we got of the final trial script:
Supposedly the trial was written by the "Vampire Santiago", and the "Vampire Samuel Barclay". With... "additions made" by the "Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt".
Now the last part is particularly interesting, because as we see in the screenshots we get, that there are quite a few "additions" that Armand makes, but he is not listed there.
We now have (additional) confirmation by Assad (at the SDCC 2024 panel) that Armand was the one who orchestrated Claudia's / their deaths, so let's keep that in mind here. Especially since he is not listed.
"Our red curtain. Our spotlight. Santiago acting as master of ceremonies. But this is the only part of the play that will mimic our normal fare. That and our finale."
There's several aspects to this.
We know that - at least in Armand's tale - Santiago "took over". "Master of ceremonies." But only acting, not actually being. The "mimic our normal fare" both hints at this being not what they normally do, and, given the mock aspect of the trial - it acknowledges the farce it is. It is not a play, not a trial, but something in between, framed as neither, while implementing both.
Santiago's entry speech. With an interesting annotation by Armand: "You are standing half in and half out of your light."
Only, Santiago isn't actually standing in and out of the light. (At least in the version we got to see.)
Now, those who know the books know that the force of Lestat's personality is often called a "light", and not always in a wholly positive manner.
For example there is this comment by Nicolas, which refers to it:
And for every aspect of our proposed damnation you found exuberance, and there was no end to your enthusiasm and the passion coming out of you-and the light, always the light. And in exact proportion to the light coming out of you, there was the darkness in me! Every exuberance piercing me and creating its exact proportion of darkness and despair!
The lights of the stage obviously put them all into focus, too, something that was forbidden before Lestat came and destroyed the old ways. The "walking in the places of light" was one of the things the Children of Darkness accused Lestat of when he encountered them.
I think the comment there is a kind-of-meta comment, of Armand being half in shadow hand half in light. There is a choice here, for light or darkness.
Here, he chooses darkness.
Some things we haven't heard in the episode:
"If the prosecution's evidence convinces you to condemn those HERETICS for the heinous trampling of the vampire laws we will carry out our sentence before your very eyes as only we at the Théâtre des Vampires know how: slowly, inventively, gruesomely."
And then, this lovely stage direction 💀:
"Agency: If and when Claudia or Louis speak, (drive) them together, close their throats, (Santia)go will address it with the audience, as per the below:"
"I don't need to hear from you..."
That part we heard in the trial.
Apart from the stage directions and the part we didn't hear Armand's notes are also interesting once more: "Remember to comment...." and something starting with "Fi"... "Fine" - or "Find their thoughts" (could fit I think). Because this note, even largely unreadable proves once more that Armand was fully in on what they did to Louis and Claudia there. Made sure that the blows... would land.
This one. This one we didn't get to hear! (The part after "Tik Tok")
Santiago reading from her diary: "He soaks in the light from everyone around him, making it all about Lestat. This is most definitely about you and your death."
Light reference again! (See the quote above.)
And (accompanied by Armand's notes to have Santiago hand the diary to the audience):
"I know she was your favorite. I know she was your baby lu. But she had us all fooled. She's the best actor of all of us. She lies so sweetly, doesn't she. But look closer. When the mask falls away, she's a monster."
Oof. When the mask falls away... Pot to kettle.
"I can't hear you." - say it louder.... Lestat.
And then: Lestat's entrance. Being seated in an especially prepared "Bergere en cabriolet".
And here we have another "I can't hear you! Let me f...". It's the counterpart to the blend-over (below), another read from Claudia's diary there, after Lestat talks about loneliness and Louis "abandoning him". (Btw, I don't buy this shift to blame to Louis and Louis "hunting" Lestat for one second, for the record^^. I think that was all very much BS for the trial, in order to make Louis seem guilty to the audience.)
Armand's comment (on Lestat's first lines) makes it seem as if Lestat was less than enthusiastic - or weak. Now, I said before, I think there's quite enough evidence to suggest that the "real trial" might have gone a bit more like in the book, with Lestat mostly out of his mind and his mind meddled with as well (see below).
But the counterpart to the blend-over is actually the most interesting one, imho:
(This is a hard one to see, it's only seen in blend-over and Louis' hand moves across it before the scene fades to Armand scribbling down the note!)
"It This is too early for Lestat to acknowledg[e...]"
This is too early for Lestat to acknowledge. Louis and Claudia, would be my guess. This direction is proof that Armand made directions for Lestat especially as well. It's the only one (we have so far) where he actually writes the name.
Armand knew he could make this direction. And he made it.
Given Lestat and their history this, for me, is proof, that Lestat's mind has been meddled with as well, at times at least. Because there is no way that Lestat would have followed Armand's directions there, imho. Would not have done something, especially in that moment, where they set up the execution.
Yes, Sam is on record saying that Lestat played along with the play itself so he could get into the audience's heads, and therefore make it easier for him to make them shift Louis' sentence to "banishment" (that's where the "additions" come from, in all likelihood), but there, at the point of judgement and the execution being set up he does not look at Claudia (but he does look at her afterwards!), he's staring straight ahead, swaying on his feet.
Taken out of the equation, so to speak.
(That's an extra shot btw, extra shots always carry meaning.)
So.
Quite the script. -.-
Clear stage directions for Santiago, Lestat, and the other coven members should Louis and Claudia try to do something.
Now. I know there have been a lot of posts about Armand "master mind" or "villain" or victim, or what not. And I am glad that Assad has been so very clear on that just recently, though all of it is already given with what the show gave us, imho.
Armand did plan the trial. Did master-mind it. Did pretend. Did direct. Did lie.
He orchestrated their deaths.
And Lestat interfered with Louis' death. At the very least.
And.. Armand continued to betray Louis. For 77 years.
I said it before, I don't quite buy the tower scene, I expect it to get more context, at the very least.
It will be very interesting to see if they return to the trial next season, and in what capacity.
Because all the "hints" are, all the evidence is there already.

Fanmade TVC Book Covers: Inspired by The Vampire Armand
When I was making my other set of Vampire Chronicles ebook covers, I had another idea for a set inspired by my favorite of the original hardback covers: The Vampire Armand. The Vampire Armand cover isn't just well designed, it's also a specific painting referenced within the book, so I wanted to see if I could make covers with a similar design that also met that criteria for the other books!
As before, my disclaimer is that I am not a graphic designer, I am a nerd with a hobby! I don't own the rights to any of these books, images, or paintings (and I believe they are all out of copyright). I hope you like them!
See below for what each painting is, and a few notes about why I chose it and where it appears in the book:
Interview with the Vampire
Painting: Witches Sabbath by Francisco de Goya
Source: Directly Described, Artist Name Provided in The Vampire Lestat
Quote: "I kept looking at Claudia, the way she lay against the books, the way she sat amongst the objects of the desk, the polished white skull, the candle-holder, the open parchment book whose hand-painted script gleamed in the light; and then above her there emerged into focus the lacquered and shimmering painting of a medieval devil, horned and hoofed, his bestial figure looming over a coven of worshipping witches."
Notes: In The Vampire Lestat, Lestat specifically references that Armand's cell contains copies of paintings by de Goya. There are two different de Goya paintings of a horned devil, I believe this one is the one described here.
The Vampire Lestat
Painting: Amor Vincit Omnia by Caravaggio.
Source: Subject Referenced with Artist Name
Quote: "He moved into the glow of the candles on the side altar. His clothes were black velvet, once beautiful, and now eaten away by time, and crusted with dirt. But his face was shining white, and perfect, the countenance of a god it seemed, a Cupid out of Caravaggio, seductive yet ethereal, with auburn hair and dark brown eyes."
Notes: Armand is repeatedly compared to Cupid as painted by Caravaggio in The Vampire Lestat, and this painting is of that figure. Lestat also references Gabrielle having copies of Caravaggio paintings in her rooms at his childhood home. This painting actually has scattered sheet music and a violin lying in the corner, which was another section I considered using to represent this book.
The Queen of the Damned
Painting: The Dionysian Friezes of The Villa of the Mysteries
Source: Directly Described
Quote: "Then the realization had come to Daniel as they stood together in the ruined dining room with its famous murals of ritual flagellation barely visible in the dark: He isn’t going to kill me after all. He isn’t going to do it. Of course he won’t make me what he is, but he isn’t going to kill me. The dance will not end like that."
The Tale of the Body Thief
Painting: Syndics of the Drapers' Guild by Rembrandt
Source: Directly Described, Including Artist Name, Discussed by Characters
Quote: "Finally, a week after my arrival, I found David in the empty Rijksmuseum, just after sunset, sitting on the bench before the great Rembrandt portrait of the Members of the Drapers' Guild"
Memnoch the Devil
Painting: Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch
Source: Directly Discussed by Characters by Name
Quote: "Exactly, like Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, that kind of luscious sensuous paradise! Of course, I hadn't seen Bosch's painting yet in the Prado. But it was here in miniature in these books. Little figures frolicking beneath the abundant trees. Old Captain said, 'Garden of Eden imagery,' that it was very common. But two books full of it? No. This was different. I had to crack these books, get an absolutely clear translation of every word."
Pandora
Statue: Roman Depiction of Isis, Hadrian’s Villa, 117-138 AD Est
Source: Described
Quote: "My Isis had been Greco-Roman. Even her statue in the Roman Sanctuary had been clothed in a gorgeously draped Greek dress and her hair had been done softly in the old Greek style, with waves around her face. She had held her sistrum and an urn. She had been a Romanized goddess.
The Vampire Armand
Painting: Primavera by Botticelli
Source: Directly Referenced by Name
Quote: "Come on, somebody, tell me I make you think of Mercury chasing away the clouds in Botticelli's Primavera"
Note: This is, of course, the original hardback cover of The Vampire Armand, and the inspiration for the rest of this set. This is a remake to match the aspect ratio of the other images.
Vittorio, the Vampire
Painting: Annunciation with Two Kneeling Donors by Filippo Lippi
Source: Directly Named
Quote: "My father took me to see two more of his works, which were both paintings of the Annunciation… I had particularly enjoyed paintings of the Annunciation. Well, this last one I saw before I left Florence, done by Filippo sometime in the 1440s, was beyond anything I had beheld before. The angel was truly unearthly yet physically perfect. Its wings were made of peacock feathers."
Merrick
Painting: Madame Monet Embroidering (Camille au Metier) 1875 by Claude Monet
Source: Described, Artist Named
Quote: "I looked at a painting by Monet—one I'd come to neglect of late due to familiarity—a painting full of sunshine and greenery, of a woman at work on her needlepoint by a window under the limbs of delicate indoor trees. Like so many Impressionist paintings it was both highly intellectual, with its obvious brush strokes, and flagrantly domestic."
Note: This is a painting in the house on Rue Royale, which is one of Louis's Monet's, as he's referenced owning one or more of them frequently throughout the series.
Blood and Gold
Painting: Events of the life of Moses by Botticelli
Source: Directly Described, Artist Named.
Quote: "It didn't matter finally what these paintings meant. They filled me utterly. And in one, there were two maidens rendered so sensitively and yet so sensuously that I was amazed."
Note: Marius describes all three pieces by Botticelli in the Sistine Chapel over several pages, but the specific reference he makes that is quoted above is this painting, which is he compares to Pandora. Later he frequently compares Bianca to Botticelli's work, and I like the interpretation of this cover representing Bianca and Pandora.
Blackwood Farm
Painting: Salvador Mundi by Dürer
Source: Directly Discussed by Characters by Name
Quote: "'I'd save Dürer,' he said. 'Salvador Mundi--you know, the face of Christ with the hair parted in the middle.’"
Note: Many paintings get referenced throughout Blackwood Farm, though many of the artists are ones discussed in other books. Quinn's answer to the question he and Tommy are discussing (which one painting would you save) is a Madonna by either Fra Filippo Lippi or Botticelli, artists represented elsewhere in this set.
Blood Canticle
Painting: One of the "Unpainted pictures" by Emil Nolde
Source: Artist Referenced
Quote: "What the hallway needed was Emile Nolde. How could I get my hands on the German Expressionists?"
Note: Later in the book the other characters reference recently purchased paintings, and paintings with sailboats in them, though this specific painting is not mentioned. Other paintings in Rue Royale are described as "impressionist paintings" showing the sky, which are implied to be Louis's, and Lestat mentions them not being his personal preference.
Prince Lestat
Painting: Still Life with flowers by Rachel Ruysch
Source: Painting Described, See Notes
Quote: "What a pretty room, painted a cobalt blue and with bright white enameled moldings, and on the wall a brilliant painting of roses, wild, exploding roses against a backdrop of a darker blue."
Notes: This is a painting from Rose's bedroom, and Rose is described as having fond memories of visiting the Rijksmuseum. This specific painting is not referenced but matches the subject matter and description and is by a Dutch artist, contemporary of Rembrandt, who has similar works in the Rijksmuseum.
Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis
Painting: Marie-Thérèse Durand-Ruel Sewing by Pierre Auguste Renoir
Source: Painting Described, See Notes
Quote: "A Chinese vase filled with fragrant leafy eucalyptus, and a small undoubtedly genuine French Impressionist painting on the wall of a woman in profile, a woman with long russet hair."
Notes: The description given of the painting above is not very specific, but Renoir frequently painted women with red hair, several of them in profile, and this painting is one of them.
Blood Communion:
Painting: Sunset (1872) by Camille Pissarro
Source: Painting Referenced, See Notes
Quote: "Well, Louis and I have been reunited a number of times, and this time around, at the Court in France, our reunion is enduring. He left that Impressionist painting behind at my request in our old flat in the Rue Royale, and now these miserable miscreants had senselessly destroyed it."
Notes: All I had to work with here was that it was an impressionist painting that was special to Louis, so I wanted to find something that fit the tone of Blood Communion and was of a sunrise or a sunset, which feels in character for Louis. This painting is also currently in a private collection.

Haven't seen many people talk about it but the stuff around sexuality in this episode was so fucked up. The entire premise of the trial is the racist victim blaming narrative where Louis was a lustful predator preying on Lestat. Lestat relentlessly calling Louis to come to him is flipped around so that Louis was saying with his every action 'come to me', and when he denies it he's told he still must've done it at least unconsciously and caused Lestat to become obsessed with him. Louis' attractiveness and mere existence is seen as manipulative and seductive, and it's his fault when someone wants him, literally 'she was asking for it'. Louis and Lestat's relationship being a traditional marriage is emphasized, with Louis agreeing to Lestat's offer of companionship in church at the altar 'with a kiss of acceptance' - and thus agreeing to everything that marriage has historically encompassed for a woman, including obedience and constant sexual availability. It's emphasized that Louis not giving Lestat enough affection and not 'sharing his body' with him anymore is what directly caused the cheating and later domestice violence - with an implication that it was justified since Louis didn't fulfill his marital duties, and the audience agrees. Lestat talking about seven years of 'compromise and denial' and Santiago saying that Lestat was 'teased until he toppled' has sexual undertones too i.e. Louis withholding sex from Lestat is what caused him to lose control.
Lestat skips over the part where he bites and forcibly drinks from Louis, maybe because he's particularly ashamed of it, but Santiago saying 'to us monters, what's a bite between paramours' is a clear reference to it. When you consider that drinking from other vampire against their will is seen as akin to sexual assault among vampires, they're essentially joking about marital rape. Lestat says he's 'burdened with his maker's temper', when Magnus assaulted him and in the books Lestat calls it rape. In 2.05 Daniel said that he could 'be on his knees in a second' if Armand lets him go and in this episode Louis literally gets on his knees for Lestat begging that 'he'll do anything, be anything' if Lestat turns Claudia. I don't think either Louis or Lestat was thinking of any sexual meaning in that moment, but it's kind of hard to avoid that implication when Louis was suffering of low libido and Lestat was already very sexually frustrated with their relationship at that point. Like everything in the show is recontextualized when you know that Louis promised Lestat that he'd never leave him, and do everything he wants, and be happy if Lestat just saved Claudia. And he never left, not in those seven years, not when Claudia tried to leave in ep6, not even after ep5, even though he kicks Lestat out he still doesn't leave New Orleans or say that their relationship is over. That dissociative sex scene in ep6 where Louis pretends that everything is fine while having a full telepathic conversation with Claudia about how he's not going to leave is even more unsettling now

Let’s talk about Armand’s speech.
First of all, he starts it out in third person:
“This is Amadeo, he's 20 years here.”
He purposely distances himself from his past. Honestly, I think that he disassociated for much of his young life, as we see here:
“He was rescued from a brothel when he was 15, named named Arun then, I think. I cannot be sure. The abuse in the brothel was such that he cannot be sure that's what his parents named him. Arun. The parents that sent him to work on a merchant boat in Delhi when in actuality they had sold him into slavery to the ship's captain. All fragments.”
All fragments. A clear indication that Armand was dissociated. And who would blame him? He also refers to his parents as “The parents,” which distances even Arun from his parents.
“Shackled on the boat. The brothel.”
Not even using a personal pronoun, mirroring his own feelings of depersonalization.
“My maker's purchase. His renaming me. His reluctance to share the Dark Gift, knowing what it would do to his beloved Amadeo.”
Adding in first person pronouns as we shift to Amadeo, indicating that he feels more connected to that time in his life.
“I served him with all my heart. Basked in his mercy, his worshipful mercy.”
And we can see why here. Armand felt more human here, with his vampire master than he did with human beings. The monstrousness of the vampires is often mirrored in their humanity.
“Still... Amadeo had a skill. And if a friend wandered into town, I was occasionally... donated.”
We can see kinder words being used for what Marius did to Armand. After all, Amadeo had a skill, it would be a shame to waste it.
“Meatier in the forearms, but then this was... seven years before I was stricken with illness, before I was turned, and imbued with my powers.”
He was turned when he was less useful, presumably less attractive to Marius.
“And Armand? The name the coven in Rome gave me. After they set fire to the studio. Set fire to my maker.”
Based on how Armand uses language in this speech, he would prefer to be called Armand. He is no longer Arun or Amadeo, as those parts of his life are over.
“And sent me to Paris, to reign over the coven abandoned by Magnus. Magnus who begat Lestat. Lestat who begat Louis. On and on. And on and on and on.”
Armand doesn’t know who he is outside of an abusive relationship. This is extremely common in people, especially those that have been abused young. Armand doesn’t know what love feels like.
“Who am I, Louis? I am my history I have endured? I am the job I do not want? I do not know anymore. No one has painted me in over 400 years.”
Who is Armand? In the end, I don’t think even he knows. He wants someone else to tell him.

CW: Armand's backstory, Claudia's assault, Louis' suicide attempt
The assumption that Louis and Armand never talked about Marius or that Louis was somehow fine with Marius because of the 2x5 fight makes as much sense as assuming Armand was making jokes about Paul's death or referred to Claudia as "throw pillow" the whole time. The whole point is they're digging their fangs into the softest underbelly of each other. Louis attempts suicide not five minutes after he says that!!!
Louis listens to Armand's story in the Louvre without passing judgement, and even in being cruel in the 70s he is being cruel about Armand being exploited and the incestuous nature of his relationship.
It's much more likely going to mirror the conversations we see between Louis and Claudia about her kidnapping and assault by Bruce, where he is incredibly heartbroken and sympathetic but struggles to find the right words. His instinct is to say stop, he doesn't want to hear this, but he does give her the grace of listening. Just as in the Louvre he offers Armand his support and assistance, what he offers Claudia is his presence, watching her being inducted into the coven. We even see this earlier on with Lestat - Claudia is upset that Louis offers Lestat love and grace after hearing his story with Magnus.
Yes, Daniel is much more likely to interrogate and force Armand to open up or cast judgement on his story - but remember "He only hit me the one time, officer!"? He is not sensitive, and he takes a combative and argumentative stance even when he's trying to side with Louis and point out Lestat's usage of domestic violence. This can be written in such interesting ways -- especially when Armand of 2x5 comes out to play defence through attacking Daniel. I think Daniel has the same arrogance that many of us can have when we're talking to those we love who have been abused - if I say it, if I point out the logic of it, if I give enough examples, they'll realise it's wrong!! It's patronising, but it's also comforting, because we wish that's how it would work.
In contrast, I think there is so much unsaid in the relationship between Louis and Armand that there's no place for open conversation. How can there be, when any mention of "Paris" is already a landmine in any conversation which could detonate their whole relationship? We see how the tension of it seeps into every single aspect of their relationship - take the Fred Steins. Armand denies them, Louis clearly doesn't believe him, they both yell, but then it fizzles out. Because as soon as they go beyond the Steins, it goes into the cracks of the foundations of their relationship.
But that doesn't mean there can't be tenderness. Louis and Armand are incredibly tender. Louis lets Armand display Marius de Romanus right in their dining rooms - something I don't think Daniel could stand - because he knows it's important to him. I think he would listen to Armand, even if he's uncomfortable. He might perhaps make more gentle suggestions that Marius wasn't the hero Armand remembers him as, but probably after a certain amount of Armand-walls is going to be frustrated and leave be. They're also physically affectionate, which is really important in terms of establishing that connection if Armand needs to talk about it. Louis is also likely to offer action - going out together, doing something small but meaningful for Armand, taking care of some of their business.
Armand is 500 years old, it isn't Louis' job to be his therapist, and it's honestly patronising to pretend that he needs a partner to "make" him work through his trauma, whether that's Louis or Daniel. Equally, Daniel isn't a therapist, he's a guy who got divorced twice and whose daughters went no-contact, I think he would genuinely want Armand to "realise" Marius is bad news, but he'd go about it like he's busting open a scandal, not necessarily talking about a father-husband-figure who, as far as they both know, has been dead for half a millennium. (And he's 100% going to get hurt by Armand in the fallout.)
Viewing the measure of Armand's relationships as whether his partner can "fix" his trauma is just so so condescending. All vampires are made from trauma in one way or the other. There are very interesting discussions about how that trauma functions -- Armand's reflexive lies vs Daniel's obsession with "truth" vs Louis' schizophrenia and subjective storytelling fascinates me -- but I feel it's unfair to all involved to single out Armand as a problem-character because of the nature of his trauma.

Hi there!
Just saw one of your reblogs for lestats role in the trial and it reminded me of something I was thinking the other day that has actually more to do with louis.
Louis chose to stay with armand, is shown to forgive armand and even present him as his current love of his life despite armand fully knowing about the premeditated public executions of himself and his daughter.
From louis pov armand knew for months, could have prevented it for months and only at the last minute "changed his mind" (we know the reveal showed that was not the case but louis didn't know that). And he STILL chose to stay with him. For all his talk about avenging claudia he let armand go unpunished.
Why? Because he thought armand saved him.
That is shown to be louis' choise way before any mental influence from armand started taking place.
When the reveal about lestat happened the same parameters were shown but reversed to lestat instead of armand.
He is shown to rehearse, know about the trial and choose to save louis in the end. We don't know his actual state during that (and rolin loves to make all lestat injuries imaginary 🫠)
Book readers know what happened and what might get picked up in season 3... but then again they have changed a lot of aspects from the books especially where lestat is concerned. Changing this too would not be a stretch given their choices so far.
Also a lot of show watchers know nothing about the books and if you only watch the show coming to this type of conclusions is understandable imo.
I hope and pray rolin will choose to actually follow the books for this one but I can't know that he will and unless proven otherwise we kinda have to live with these takes for now 😅
Hey nonny,
ermmm.... I - forgive me - but no. We do not have to live with these takes, because actually the show gives us everything we need - you just have to pay attention.
This is what I meant in another post about what I would change on the show with the show being too subtle.
Because you obviously missed a few rather important clues.
Louis didn't choose to stay with Armand.
(Outside the initial spiteful decision, maybe. And even that I doubt, because the tower scene... is damned weird, and I doubt it happened as told.) Armand manipulated, lied, edited Louis' mind, and kept him in a literal golden cage. THIS is Louis' face when Armand chose to reveal himself at the end of 1x07:
That's trepidation.
You might want to read this post, as to "The Graduate", which Rolin Jones named for that scene, it is a direct reference, and has not much to do with why you take it for. Keep in mind that this analysis was written way before s2 though and does not contain its reveals.
In s2 it becomes clear over the episodes that Armand keeps Louis as the proverbial "Stepford Wife" in Dubai - edits his mind when he acts out, edits it when Louis asks questions, the diary request is not followed up on, Louis' mood changes are blatant.
He literally puts words into Louis' mind to say. 2x05. Daniel Hart accentuated it all beautifully with that single note.
Louis does not forgive Armand.
Louis literally does not forgive Armand, because IN THE VERY MOMENT when he gets the truth, in 2x08, he throws Armand into the wall for it and leaves him.
Like, these are Armand's words there, when he runs after Louis:
One night, 70 years ago. You are over this, Louis! The pain of it has left you. Don't let an insignificant detail, delivered from am insignificant mortal... You have forgiven me for what part I played in her death! And time has opened back up to us and we are once again teachers of one another.
And who knows, maybe Armand even believes it. (Though I doubt it because Assad says Armand sees Louis as a vessel for himself.)
But Louis throws Armand into the wall after this, and Jacob said it was to "make him stop lying".
That's not forgiving.
Louis thought Armand had been roped into the trial, had been made to think Armand was only a victim in it, like he was.
But Armand was the director, as is very much evident in the trial script. And when that becomes clear, his rage is quite clear as well. And he goes to Lestat immediately.
____
A lot of show watchers (only) seem to not pick up on a lot of clues, and I don't mean this in any ill will.
But this show needs you to think when you watch it, at least if you want to analyze it. It's okay if you don't - but if you want to understand it, or follow the twists, then you need to pick up the clues.
And pay a LOT of attention to the details.
Because the details are there. Hints to the truth are there.
For example Murder Night - that cannot have happened as shown either. The writers said they would revisit still, and Claudia's little diary with Lestat' blood does not match what Louis told. Or the train scene - neither the time tables nor the cities match, Lestat cannot have brought back Claudia as told. Or the twice given speech on the radio on different evenings that was actually only given once. The wound of Antoinette's taken off finger, which doesn't match. Louis and Claudia being not as afraid of Lestat as they claimed. Lestat's outburst at the chess game being about more than just a temper tantrum.
And so on.
You think these are coincidences?
On this show?
No.
But they are subtle.
Very subtle.
And I have a feeling they are too subtle for some.
Because people are used to be fed a story that they can believe, for a show to have an objective truth.
And that is very much not the case here.
And it doesn’t have anything to do with book reader‘s knowledge and all to do with attention to details. And the willingness to doubt what you’re told.
Because we were fed a tale - not the (whole) truth.
