If somebody in your life offers to knit or crochet or, really, create anything for you, please be an active participant in the creation of the piece they are making. I adore making and gifting things, but nothing bums me out quicker than a person who passively just goes "okay," to my ideas about what I'm making them - it can send the message that they won't like it, or that they don't care, even if they're happy about my offering. The back-and-forth feedback is a great way to make sure that you are being gifted something that was truly worth the time, effort, expertise, and money that will inevitably go into the gift!

I know it's really hard to be an active participant, believe me, I'm an anxious ball of horror, but it will only do good for both parties to interact in this situation. It is a big deal to be offered a hand-crafted gift, but it's also something we want you to love and use, and that can only happen if you tell us what would make you fall in love with what we create.

Brief rant but there is something so appalling to me when I see a writer use AI-generated images (no I won't call it art because it isn't, tyvm) for the header/cover of their writing/fic.

People don't want their work scraped. Be it writing, visual arts, music or voices even. But then go and use AI-generated shit out of an art field they don't actively contribute to. It disgusts me. Have you no conscience or shame?

Most writers are actively against the use of AI. Many people don't want to read fics written by AI.

So for the love of god...

If you're against AI - fucking be against it in all art forms and not just your own. It's hypocritical af!

I finally have something that might help in my hand and I'm hesitating because I can't shake that deeply rooted belief medicine is Bad and Evil that my dad liked to shove in my face all during my childhood. Next Scum Villain Fairy Tale AU will be a variation on 'The story of the youth who went forth to learn what fear was' which is such a long title honestly.

It's gonna feature Yang Yixuan as the titular youth.

But what I actually wanted to talk about, since I'm rereading the original real quick for inspiration, that titular youth really is just such a himbo. Nevermind throwing a person down the stairs because they keep ignoring his demands to identify themselves or leave, because they are pretending to be a ghost to scare him. No my dude camps out underneath some gallows and then when he gets cold ponders and decides to cut down the unfortunate hanged people above him cause 'well if I'm cold down here, how cold must the poor sods up there be?' And that's like only the start of it

This one really is one of the fairy tales I really like, because the protagonist is just so unique.
