any thoughts on hero 42? My theory is that Harriet is one of the "reject" Horizon animals, one who is a toad that was spliced with other reptilian and amphibian DNA, namely turtles, hence the shell we can see on her. alright this sounded so utterly deranged BEFORE I checked the links. I was internally going "how much did I miss in the rodent's story", but these posts have some fascinating insight I'd encourage everyone check if nothing else. Gonna post the links cleanly here for the sake of usability:
For personal reasons I'd of course ADORE if this character actually is a giant buff spiky turtle mutant lady. if this sentiment confuses anyone, this is an open invite to the "#my art" tag on this account. But by default I'm not getting my hopes up because come on, that's TOO perfect for me, I shouldn't be allowed to get that happy. Then again I was WILDLY surprised by Junker Queen's in-game design, so you never know.
I've said before I don't like to base expectations on arbitrary categories (namely the current insistence on more villain supports but not villain tanks (even though we were clamoring for those before Sigma and then as far as I'm concerned the rest following were all warranted as catch-up)), though if I can have my own biases then I'd also prefer not having another Junker, but also I'm not wild on the idea of another Horizon animal guy, especially when I really don't like playing as the two we currently have (and playing in a lobby with a Wrecking Ball whatsoever). The idea of them being a Moira experiment both makes more sense and is a little more appealing, but like half of Talon seems to be Moira experiments already, so I don't know how upping the Level of Freak they are would really be shocking at this point.
I'd be astonished if the mutant-looking creature with glowing green spikes wasn't called "Hazmat" at at least some point in development, though based on the hero select in the Venture gameplay showcase, their internal codename seemingly is somewhere alphabetically between Sigma and Winston. Not necessarily their final name though, as evidenced by Juno in the same teaser being between Moira and Zenyatta (which works for "Space Ranger") as opposed to between Illari and Kiriko like they are in their release state. I speculated before their working name might be "Spike" or "Toxic", which could've been placeholders before "Haz" was used for the Ashe interaction.
I don't entirely want to rule out this possibly of this hero being someone named "Harriet Oris", but while that reddit theory points out the Horizon animals have dated english first names, it neglects to point out they don't have last names either. Winston is just Winston (named after the Horizon scientist Harold Winston) and Hammond is just Hammond. If "Hazmat" and Harriet Oris are the same, then that'd be weird if they were also a Horizon animal with a last name for some reason. The Waitron does also say "It has been a very long time!" to them in the unused dialogue, which could lend credence to the theory of them being a former Talon member and possible escaped Moira experiment. The same account points out similar dialogue for Mauga, and considering the Waitrons are in Circuit Royal (a Talon base of operations run by Maximilien), so maybe there's a parallel there.
Regarding the streamer mode name easter eggs potentially meaning this is a frog (or more accurately a toad, a buff one at that), I don't know how much stock I'd put in that part of the theory specifically. It's weird how few of the names aren't a reference to something, but the only ones the wiki doesn't attribute to anything are "BEEFToad", "BioHazard", "Ch00Ch00", "EZTarget", "GarlicBread", and "SillyGoose". I think most of these are pretty clearly jokes, maybe "Choo Choo" being a reference specifically to Reinhardt's one skin or the Busan train, but those first two are definitely more conspicuous. "BioHazard" is the least joke-like of the bunch, but could also be a reference to other things like the toxic waste area in New Junk City or Mauga's weird canisters. "BEEFToad" feels like a joke, but not as obvious as SillyGoose or GarlicBread. I dunno, to me it just feels like trying to stick on another data point that doesn't necessarily add anything. Making them a frog with turtle DNA feels like an arbitrary extra step and it feels like a weird thing to tease so specifically like this. The turtle thing in the other post feels more like a deliberate nod, they already look more turtle-ish and it feels like such a "nudge nudge wink wink future hero reference here" bit to emphasize.
This all does give me some more enthusiasm for a character that previously felt like a dead end to speculate on, and while I don't wanna get my hopes up, there's definitely something cool here to consider. Gonna be a bit of a wait before they get a proper reveal though, and not sure how it'll be done without a Blizzcon this year. We probably will still at minimum get a reveal and playtest around the same time we did last year for Mauga, so somewhere in November before the proper release in season 14 this December.

wanted to record random footage of me fighting against nayul on easy mode (i am NOT fighting him on normal or hard). i might record + share other gameplay too just for the hell of it hehe.
so anyways i mentioned how i wanted to write about my thoughts on blade & soul today and i figure i might as well do it on this post. not a writer by any means so sorry if it's a little unbearable to get through. anyways!
so if you play blade & soul, you know that to clear the dungeons for your dailies, you have to form a party usually through faction or world chat and then you go and have at it. i've never had any luck with LFP after bns started to die down, and if you're reading this now, you're still not gonna have any luck with that! HJRHGJFGG
granted, i've only been doing stage1 for demonsbane so that's probably why, i noticed everyone else is usually doing stage5 and above (for good reason too) but for me, i like to play alone and i'm not sure why i feel so awkward asking for help from random people. i think i just miss the days of doing LFP and finding people instantly
i've been attempting to solo things, i was shocked when i cleared chaos pohwaran for the first time, 1 billion HP is a lot, but that experience reminded me of the good old days when you'd fight pohwaran at LV.45. the mechanics aren't too different from back then either, just more intense with tiger mobs added i guess and yeoharan is there too briefly, but a good place to start to challenge yourself if you'd like to solo it at stage 1
the other dungeons? not so successful LOL i don't see myself clearing them without help but just today, i cleared abyssal throne by myself with the character shown here. i ended up dying at batara on my first attempt, so i looked up a guide on mechanics and i feel like if you're soloing stage 1 like me, you're better off not stepping on the plates that sends the orb to the center/boss. 4 billion HP is a huge step, but i was still able to clear it. that dungeon... not familiar with it, i think it's one of the more newer ones (for me at least) and the mechanics just to get to batara seemed a little silly but i got through with it so whatever. despite all of this, it's been fun trying to figure things out and experiment
i'm gonna dread when chaos avalanche den arrives though, because i'm pretty sure that's when daily challenges will change and i'd actually prefer it to not change. well i know that chaos avalanche den will be the new thing added to the rotation but i wish they'd just keep the same dungeons sometimes and just add in ones that haven't been in rotation for a while especially with a small playerbase and i'd also like to just clear my daily challenges
i guess i'm just playing it because i miss playing a game that is fast and intense combat wise like this. the story... kinda have mixed feelings on it. i feel like certain things could have been executed better but it's an MMO so it might be hard to express certain things in this medium but i feel like towards the end of it (act 10 + 11) they Kinda got experimental with it but didn't go too far. idk anything beyond act 11 by the way, i've stopped at the interlude/prelude that comes after act 11, i think act 12 is out now (or something like that)
i also wish the localization was better and that... in general i just hope if BNS continues to be active in the future, i just hope it gets its act together. i read a little bit of the letter from the korean 11th anniversary letter and while my korean isn't very good, they do have plans to bring more to BNS in the future and for ncsoft's sake i sure hope they do! HJRHGJFG i also read some korean comments from fans who currently still play the game or formerly played the game and they all kinda shared the same sentiment. very fun gameplay, very fun story, occasional fun character designs, but a company that has made very questionable decisions in terms of monetization and balancing in game so it kinda kills off interest for players
not gonna lie, i would like to see BNS return to its roots in just having fun dungeons back in the LVL45 days, i don't really like high HP stuff, i don't think we needed to constantly have bigger bosses (in terms of lots of HP and needing more AP for dps) and then we need to have better gear and have to make it tedious to farm. i get that's how they want to monetize or whatever and want to continue that cycle of player engagement and wanting people to spend to catch up or whatever but that obviously didn't work out
idk i think they just need to be creative and be more thoughtful to its players. i feel like this could also tie into the curse of being an MMO and having constant updates and having to make profit constantly which sucks. i'd hate to see this game close but it is what it is! i think that's why i've been starting to play it more as well especially with recent news in regards to preserving things on the internet and how companies can decide to take things away from you at any instant just because it wasn't making money or whatever. and i've played games that would announce their servers closing, so i'd like to immortalize and share my stuff as much as i possibly can before that happens. i'm actually amazed how the NA/EU server has still managed to stay open for this long, and same goes for KR being on it's 11th anniversary.
tl;dr: miss this game and it's gameplay, i still think it's fun and it's been enjoyable figuring certain things by myself. a little lonely however and sad to know it can close at anytime. btw if you'd like help with a stage 1 demonsbane dungeon or any other dungeon then feel free to reply here or something with your character name or whatever hjrghjfg this character is only at 2800AP or something like that i dont remember

‘My Next Life as A Villainess’ Anime is over...
SO WHAT NOW???
A lot of us are disappointed that Katarina’s adventures are finally over, and a lot of us are gonna miss watching the wacky hi-jinks of our dense villainess. I’ve seen a lot of people say that they will stop posting or paying attention to hamefura after the anime ends, and while I might be the same to some extent, I just want to say that there are still a lot of hamefura things to look forward to after the anime ends!
These are actually some very obvious things to look forward to, but you know I’d still like to share them so you can use them to fill the hole in your heart that the anime left behind.

The Manga

Hamefura still has an on-going manga that is currently in Chapter 3 of the Light Novels! A lot of you already read it, and understand that it can get frustrating when there’s a lack of updates on the english side of things, but if you’re really curious, you can go over and check out the JP releases every month so you can have an idea of whats to come for the manga :DD (The fan translation of ENG Chapter 26 came out a few days ago so you know it’s not dead!!)
I’d recommend reading the english translation on Mangadex, since most translation groups officially upload their translation on there. 
The Spin-off (Hametsuo/Bakarina Alter)

It deserves it’s own category for just how unique it is in terms of its reception in the western crowd. I know a lot of people probably read it, but I guess people barely talk about because it’s not really that far into it’s premise yet. 
I just can’t stop recommending this manga to people (despite not going where I thought it’d be) because of how good the art-style is and how much promise it has. It updates monthly, which I know is a long wait, but it does pay off when you see the quality of everything. Plus it’s just fun to imagine how hamefura would go if it followed the typical “villainess otome isekai” format.
I actually love talking about hametsuo, so maybe my posts are woth the look ;; w ;;
The Light Novels

I’m happy to read that a lot of people are gonna go switch and buy the light novels after the anime ends! By the time the anime ends, the Vol. 6 of the LN would release a week later, acting kind of like a replacement of what is supposed to be a new episode for that week.
The fan-translated version of the web novel is available online, up until half of Vol. 4, but I still recommend buying the books on bookwalker (i don’t know if the sale is still there, but I’d recommend picking up the book regardless!). If reading the fan translation piqued your interest, then playing for the books would definitely worth your money if you ask me! 
An increase of sales might show them that there’s interest for this light novel, and might make them translate the JP novels even faster! (or maybe i’m just too impatient to wait 2-3 months for Volume 7 dshfjsfgs who knows?)
My only warning is that the tone really does shift post-arc 1 (Fortune Lover I) so if you’re looking for harem hijinks, from spoilers I’ve seen I think there would less of that and more of world building. (ps. please stop asking me where to read it ;;-;;)
Edit: Volume 8 is coming out in a few months, with Volume 9 probably being released at either Jan or Feb next year, then after that it’ll be a yearly update
StoryMe Otome Game

I’m surprised a lot of people doesn’t know about the StoryMe game, despite it updating every week alongside the anime. Just kidding I didn’t either lol, I actually found about this thanks to the hamefura reddit discord server! StoryMe is a choose-your-own-adventure otome game, kind of like those “Episodes” or “Chapters” game that gets recommended on Youtube a lot. 
It’s still in japanese, which is probably why not a lot of people knows of it yet, but it seems like you can play as Katarina and romance anyone from the entire harem (yes, the girls too), so keep you eyes peeled for if ever it gets an english translation!
It’s basically the bluray Fortune Lover game with the DVDs, but instead of Maria, you actually get to play as Katarina!
(I’ll make a separate post for this later, maybe)
Edit: The game just came out in English in September 16, and just spat out a 11-episode update at September 30
tldr: go play it, it has 19 episodes out right now
Katarina’s Farm

It’s a newly announced mobile game with a web trial version that centers around playing as Katarina, trying to earn money and points for expanding your farm land, planting more expensive plants and getting the other members of the harem to join you! It’s a 2D pixel game that seems like it wouldnt take too much time to play (you can get the first 4 characters within 30 minutes of gameplay, but that might be adjusted in the mobile version) so I understand if it might not interest some people, but that’s still something to look forward to!

The Bluray Otome Game

While I can’t say this for certain, but maybe if there was ever an official english bluray release, it might include the Fortune Lover Male Capture Target Routes that are included in the game. Maybe someone will play it and translate it even! It would interesting to see how different the boys are, and give us further appreciation for Katarina’s influence and changes!
There’s a preview for a CG in Keith’s Route, which comes with the second bluray (no pv for Geordo ;; w ;;)

We don’t know if they’ll ever be released in English though, so hopefully someone translates them at least ;;w;;
The Manga and Yuri Anthology
Missing the hilarious and heartwarming antics of Katarina and her harem? Then you should check out the Manga Anthology (that has just been been translated in its entirety). It’s 14 chapters of absolute hilarity!
There’s also a Yuri Anthology, featuring the 4 girls of the harem! If you’re looking for more of that then, it’s an absolute recommendation!
Spin-off Visual Novel

The Second Season of the Anime

I seriously wasn’t expecting another season, considering how different the next arc is, but I’m happy nonetheless for more Bakarina! I hope this motivates the fans to continue supporting the series, as a bigger reaction will definitely lead to more content for us to enjoy! I have a theory about S2, which I think is worth the read :3c
Other Otome Isekais
There’s a lot of other Villainess Otome Isekai’s that are worth the read, and a lot of them as just as interesting as hamefura, despite the lack of a harem (from deep rooted revenge to hilarious and crazy villainess, there’s a lot!) The quickest recommendation I can give is just looking up “Akuyaku” and “Villainess” on Mangadex (do both btw they dont have the same results), but theres a lot that doesn’t get recommended so do your research! I swear it’s worth your time!
Anyways, I hope any of these fill the hole that the hamefura anime will leave in our hearts as we wait for season 2! (sorry for repeating the same line again hdsfgdjhsfg) Feel free to add anything like fanfic recommendations and artists, as I can’t cover everything on my own, as those really help provide hamefura fans with content :DD

Above is a drawing I did for another, currently ongoing, prompt list! This is for week one of the childhood memories 2021 prompts! I’m actually posting this one as it’s going on because I reached the character limit for the post on Instagram 😭 So I’ll go into more detail in this post under the read more!
✨✨✨✨✨
The prompt for week one was toys/games. And when I think back on some toys and games I think about my GameBoy Advance SP which I think was my first gaming system. It’s like the one in the drawing. Adorned with Pokémon stickers! 😊 I actually used mine as reference and drew the game that was in it when I grabbed it and it was Pokémon pinball: ruby and sapphire edition! And I know there’s a black boarder around the screen but I remembered it as I was finishing coloring Pokémon pinball and it was too late 😭. And I had shared games with my brother, who had his own GBA SP, but his was silver.
For the content of the picture I’ll start from the top and go counterclockwise and I’ll share my memories with the games:
✨On the top we have a little Spongebob waving. 👋[I don’t recall ever playing a GBA Spongebob game, maybe? But he’s here because I had one of those white game cards that was just videos! I think one of the videos was the bubble stand one! Because of it’s a giraffe. And I think another one may have been the one where Squidward gets into an accident or something and Spongebob and Patrick take care of him because of firmly grasp it!]
✨Then of course we have Claire from Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town. [I know it’s like now Story of Seasons, but you know, not at the time kinda thing. Anyways, my grandpa, or 公公 (gung gung) (according to google that’s how you write and spell it), got me this game as a kid and I loved it 💖 It’s a wonderful game and I love the art and stuff and caring for the cute animals, the people, the aesthetic, and almost everything about it 🥰 It’s what pulled me into the series and into farming Sims like Stardew 💕 I think I’ve played this game into the 10s of years. And I chose Grey ❤️ I’ll always treasure this game 🥰].
✨Next is a pink lightning bolt symbol ⚡️ from the evergirls game. [I don’t remember what this game was about or even know why I picked this game out. I don’t even know if I completed the game. I think there was some character customization?]
✨Then we have the girl and a dog from the Dogz GBA game. 🐕 [I only vaguely remember this game but it had cute art and I loved it. Though I think it had short gameplay 🙁 I wanted to play with my pup forever... But I think it ends after a certain amount of time? I wanna play it again. And I remember carrying the dog for a bit! And also playing the reversi mini game].
✨At the bottom is Cream the Rabbit from Sonic [I barely remember anything about the Sonic game I played. I think that it was one of my brother’s games. Like I remember her and a light blue character I think was Chao? I remember running from Dr. Eggman as he was chasing me in a flying machine and the art was nice. 😊].
✨Then we have Leaf and a Bulbasaur! 🍃 [I think that Pokémon Fire Red was the first game I had! And bulbasaur was my first ever starter 🥰 But I also remember I was playing a new file in the car and I had over-written all of my progress 💔😭. My second starter is technically charmander... And I remember battling my brother and losing a lot. But I beat one of his Pokémon with a metronome toxic once and that’s memorable between the two of us 😊 I think I still lost though lol].
✨Then we have Michelangelo (or Mikey) from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. [I think this was one of my brother’s games because I don’t recall playing much of it. I picked to draw Mikey because I recall the sewer skateboarding mini game! And I also remember that one time I got some kinda score on it and bowed and like tripped or something and hurt my lip lol].
✨To the right of Mikey we have Mega Man. [This was another one of I borrowed my brother’s game. I honestly don’t know what Mega Man game this is. Maybe Battle Network? I only really remember Roll and a cactus enemy].
✨Then we have the girl character from Mario Golf Advanced Tour. [Again a game I borrowed from my brother. And I guess the girl’s name is Ella? I just looked it up. Anyways I don’t remember progressing the story all too much. I thought it was really cute. And I drew her crying because I only remember getting bogeys lol].
✨Next to her we have a cat as a representative for Catz. [Another game borrowed from my brother. I’m sad I don’t remember much of this game, but it’s probably like Dogz where it’s short but you take care of a cat].
✨Then we have Spyro. [Probably also a game from my brother. I don’t have like any recollection of playing Spyro games at all. Like I think I played as him as he was defending something on a wooden bridge as things were getting shot at him. I don’t know. I included him anyways].
✨To his right we have my game chest which holds some of my games! I painted it myself!
✨And in the center is my red GBA SP! It’s playing Pokémon pinball (I think the Ruby level). And on it you can see that I have Cyndaquil, Chikorita, and Eevee stickers. [I loved this game so much and played it a lot but I don’t think I ever actually got to catch Jirachi 🥲].
I had other GBA games I played but might not have remembered them. Some I do vaguely remember are finding Nemo, Winnie the Pooh, SMB 3, That so Raven, Pet resort, Pokémon games, other harvest moon games, hot potato, and some kinda game that had other games like a racing one and dig dug.
Other games I played in general were like Jack and Dexter, computer games, and maybe Raymon?

And in terms of the drawing, I’m happy with how it turned out! And I think I’m gonna do lighting like how I did with Leaf’s hair from now on! Sneaking hearts in where I can. And I have just noticed that I messed up Cream by drawing on the wrong layer 😭. But I think that the colors remained pretty much consistent from what I had on my laptop at least.

Dying Light 2 - Q&A
In the official Dying Light discord one of the representatives, Uncy, from Techland held a q&a session during E3 2019 and I took the time to copy everything down. There were a lot of questions asked, but I only copied down the ones that were answered.
Uncy said they were going to post a FAQ with all of these questions and I’ll make sure to link it when they do. As of right now, I don’t think it has been released.
A lot of people were typing during the session and unfortunately a lot of questions got repeated. There is also a decent amount of typos in these questions, but it felt important to keep the Q&A session in an honest a form as possible, so I have not corrected any typos or omitted any duplicate questions.
I did add a “Q” and “A” to the beginning of every question and answer for clarity. Uncy used emojis sometimes in their answers, but I did not copy those over if they weren’t text emojis.

Q: Are all current zombies considered volatiles? A: Not really, there are still regular zombies and volatiles
Q: Zombies only exit the night? A: now that's a hard one, zombies can stay outside for some time during the day but they get weak IN THE SUN
Q: How much diffrent endings are there? A: About endings - more than one, don't want to spoil it
Q: Battle royale mode? A: no BR mode
Q: Are you able to clear the city of zombies? A: Basically human learned how to deal with infection, so the more humans the less zombies
Q: how does Aiden stop from turning? does he use antizin or something else A: antizine is finished but human discovered that strong UV light weakens the infection, that's why you have the biomarker
Q: Is Aiden a foreigner to the land like Crane? A: Aiden doesn't even know Crane exists Q: I meant is Aiden from around there or did he come from somewhere else A: he's not from the city, he's an outsider
Q: What are future plans for multiplayer? A: multiplayer wise - we have some stuff coming apart from co-op, but I can't really share multiplayer details now
Q: Will there be a fallout kind of karma system? A: karma system? nope but your choices and actions will affect how people see you
Q: How long will one playthrough of the game be? A: hard to tell, but i know that dl2 will be a game for a long time
Q: Will dying light 2 feature the same great ragdoll physics as the first. A: upgraded ones
Q: Will the game be translated into Brazilian Portuguese as the first? A: more languages will come, cant really tell for now
Q: Can we expect to see actual time sensitive activities within the game? (IE: Do this now or forever lose the chance) A: Yes, but its more like choice wise, like do one thing and u will never be able to do another
Q: Will you play Dying Light 2 with me on release ;d? A: why not
Q: Will Aiden be customizable (e.g. hair, individual clothing pieces,etc) A: yup there will be customization

Q: Will there be brutal finishers after stun, like in old Dying Light version where Kyle pulls out smth from the chest? A: yup, we're still adding more and more finishers
Q: Are safezones upgradable in any way? A: you can't upgrade them as in "click a button and its happening" it changes when you do something for the city or you act in some way
Q: is there gonna be a volatile chase mission in the sewer like dl1? "extraction" with more running action? A: that's a really gameplay-detailed question, I don't think i have answer for it now
Q: Will there be weapons rarities? A: some weapons will be stronger than other - don't know about how will we deal with rarities

TL;DR: if you haven’t seen it onscreen in the Pastilles or referred to in-story, it probably isn’t canon for me!
but of course, where’s the fun in not going indepth. spoilerish talk below the cut.
You know how I am with spoilers, tho, so I can cover some things that aren’t truly spoileriffic:
Obviously, where I am now? No, Tabasco Sauce does not have a hidden baby, or a grandbaby. That’d be difficult, with him being a teen and all. I said no teen pregnancy for the Pastilles and he is... for better or worse, an honorary Pastille.... he has a rainbow border now and everything.
he’ll probably have a baby later, as most legacy characters do.

Ruby x Sauce’s baby was originally okayed by me when he wasn’t meant to be a major player in the generation... it was just a “well, that happened!” /shrug
especially since in his initial concept, Tabasco’s Pastille fixation was Kabinett.

and this is why we love you, Tabasco. you took charge of your own story. despite your mean trait. 
Regardless--if there was a Ruby x Sauce baby in canon, they would not be the same as Tomato Sauce-Song in the Prisms. They would not live the same life, they would not be the same person.
there’s a lot of spoiler stuff to account for here, which is why I can’t go into more detail. a lot of branching character paths, and frankly--Maddy is the Generational Wildcard, her final path is the one that ripples out and affects everyone else’s.
how Maddy reacts to such a child would depend on several factors as well, like whether or not they’re dating. Maddy told us already that she’s not looking for forever right now--which is fair, she’s almost 16. 
if you read the tags on this post, I noted that he was meant to be a shit dad to Tomato... 
so think of it this way: do you really want a story where Madeleine Moon Pastille (a Pastille, from a very loving, fairly well-adjusted family) is willing to be with someone who doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with their firstborn child until he’s a teen--or even later?
Which further means: up to where I’m mapped out, I’ve made no plans that account for a Sauce-Song grandchild. Marinara Song exists in a different universe, and will not be canon in mine.
While characters in my story may pop up across the berry simblrverse (because while the current generation is not available publicly, I have shared them privately before)--unless it’s explicitly stated to have happened on screen, it can’t be counted as canon for the Pastilles. Call it AU, call it fanfic, call it whatever--if I don’t personally say “this is definitively canon” and show it as part of the story, it is not a thing for my characters.
Even if events happened on screen in someone else’s story, they may not exactly have happened the same way for the Pastilles (see: Veri’s friendship with Candy Cane Gumdrop on both mine & Mary’s blogs... timelines are wacky there. Maddy is the same age as Figgy over in the Gumdrops... But Veri and CC are approx the same age in the Pastilles. It happens).
Of course, this isn’t to say you can’t use the Pastilles (or Grims or Fogs or Eons or whoever) in your stories and gameplay, especially if they’re up for public download--I love seeing them in other people’s stories! I think it’s wild that people love them (I think it’s wild you guys love the Sauce so much). But as for the canon? That’s all gonna be here.
I hope you stick around to see exactly how everything plays out. I think it’s pretty good, overall, but I’m a little biased.

The Community Build Challenge 
There’s so many build challenges I wasn’t sure what to call this thing but it doesn’t fit any of the current ones out there. So I really didn’t want to say I was doing one of those and then severely alter the rules someone worked hard to put together. The big reason I don’t care for a lot of the current ones though is due to the restrictions placed on my household (must have x traits, or do x job, must have x sims to build x lot and to have the x sims you need to master x skill..) and you all know I tend to play things out on high autonomy. I just like a lot free will in my simverse so being ultra controlling over every small thing in the town really isn’t my style. So this is laid back sort of build a community challenge.There are some pretty heavy rules though so don’t think I’m just gonna slack off over here. :P
The Rules  
1. Choose one town to start in, you will not really leave that town until it’s done being built so choose wisely. 
2. You must build (or place if you want to do this and aren’t a builder like me) at least one community lot and one residential lot in that town per generation. Preferably as cc free as possible so the lots can be shared and used easily in other saves.
*I did make an exception for the legacy house which I have to keep them in for a long time so it  has oodles of cc. I probably won’t be sharing that lot, it requires way way too much.  
3. You must move one new family into town per generation. They cannot be related in any fashion to the main household. Even distantly like the 7 or so generation gap between Yager and my Walk of Life sims. I know they are still family even if no one else does and I want to limit founders effect as much as possible. 
4. You may only visit lots you’ve built or locations the “nearest settlement” (more on that in a sec).
5. Until you build a general store you may only eat food you’ve cultivated or acquired at the “nearest settlement.” 
6. Services don’t exist until you build a support building for it. I’m using Zerbu’s go to school and careers mods  since they’ve been updated for seasons to facilitate this. So kids will not go to school, there will be no visits to the hospital, and those jobs will not exist officially in my town until they have buildings of their own. I LOVE these mods, they really make my save feel alive. I had really been missing go to school especially. 
7. You must choose one other town to act as a waystation for your sims to visit and meet people. I’ll explain my setup/background story in the next post but basically it functions as a place where your heirs can find a mate/new friends or pick up supplies for the community.
8. When you visit the waystation you must stay at least one night. The community is meant to be pretty remote. This rule is 100% optional imo but it adds some immersion for me. 
9. Until a world is complete I cannot move to a different house. I may only move my family once they unlock the next community section. I can visit those sections but they are empty and my sims would have to camp. I’m using another one of Zerbu’s great mods to make everything but the current worlds I have unlocked and my way station vacation worlds. I didn’t really HAVE to do that but I like how it functions.
*note I am not sure how well the vacation worlds function as home worlds.  Zerbu’s mod enables a lot of things but it seems a bit glitchy at times when building and inviting sims over so I don’t recommend using them as starters. When I build there I”m probably just going to just keep extending my vacation instead of plopping down a residential lot. 
10. Heirs must trace back to my founders. If I chose someone outside of the main household (say if my heir dies without child for example), they must move into the generational house for that neighborhood. 
11. Death is permanent, no purposely bringing peeps back to life (some of my gardener sims magically seem to produce death flowers at the right fucking time... looking at YOU REVAN the Undying pain in the ass..... so I know that can happen sometimes but don’t do it on purpose), no moving in ghosts.  
I think that’s it, should anything come up in gameplay I think should be added I’ll edit this post and make a changelog at the bottom. Anyone is free to try this out and amend it to their own tastes. If you do feel free to @ me, be interested to see if anyone else gives it a go and if it’s enjoyable for anyone else.

So, I guess I’m gonna write up a little about the Minecraft server community, and why people in this community often become enamored with the idea of a “free market” and often gravitate towards libertarian or even ancap politics.
This is all mostly speculation on my part, but I’ve been running (or helping run) minecraft servers since 2013, and I’ve seen a thing or two. Can’t make any promises of properly sourced figures or material, or even a super coherent story, but I’ll try my best.
Basically since minecraft was first released, online multiplayer existed. It’s a pretty integral part of minecraft for most people... It’s just so much more fun playing with other people. This multiplayer was, and still is, completely user-operated. You download an executable .jar file from minecraft.net, run it, and if you’ve set things up correctly, you have a working minecraft server that anyone can join.
Notch, and Mojang in general, never intended for the game to have MMO type gameplay where they centrally hosted servers for people to connect to. I don’t like to bring up Notch very much when talking about the current state of minecraft, because, I love minecraft, and my hatred for Notch burns hotter than the sun. However I think it is his ideas that helped cultivate the kind of environment we find ourselves with regarding minecraft servers now, whether he intended for it or not.
Earlier today, I found a minecraft server which is founded upon Libertarian ideals of economics, and attempts to recreate a sort of “anarcho-capitalist” lifestyle. Yeah, you’re supposed to laugh at that, but it’s a real server, which I may or may not plan on trying to grief later. The owner seems pretty hardcore about these ancap politics, judging by the kind of garbage he posts on his blog. He talks about cultural marxism and shit like that.
I was kind of disgusted, but not surprised at all. I don’t know if maybe this is obvious to other people or not, but it is obvious to me that the minecraft community is full of some pretty awful people. It’s why I think my server QuixolMC is so important to have- there’s not much refuge for LGBT folks elsewhere, let alone the kind of niche we occupy. Servers that are very blatantly adhering to right-wing politics are a bit of a rarer sight, but even among the most tame servers, their owners are often very fond of libertarian/right-wing mindsets... Including many of the most popular servers. Why?
Before I get too into this subject, I’ll just share this screenshot of the blog of that one minecraft server owner I mentioned earlier, because he pretty much explains it himself.

Minecraft server owners, or rather, regular minecraft players who get into running servers because they love the game, are often enticed by libertarian politics precisely because of how the minecraft server ecosystem is. There is little to no oversight from Mojang (the game’s developers) or Microsoft when it comes to running a server. As this excerpt explains, the barrier to entry is very, very low. Anyone can set up a server just by following a youtube tutorial and paying a little bit of money. It’s that simple.
This lack of regulation from the developers, or anyone really, is exactly why minecraft server owners love the concept of the “free market”. In their eyes, the minecraft server ecosystem IS the free market, and it’s what has allowed their “business” (and, yes, many many people consider their servers to be a legitimate business) to thrive and generate revenue.
However, just because people can spin up a server anytime they want with very little oversight or restrictions doesn’t necessarily mean that’ll turn people into ancaps all of a sudden. Something else is going on here.
Turning to this blog again, I think the title of it is very revealing:

Reactionary.
They literally use that term to describe themselves! And, well, I think it’s entirely accurate. You see, I’ve been in the minecraft server community since 2013 or so. I’ve always just kind of lurked from the outside, never really poking my head in very much, but I keep watch on forums, reddit, youtube, whatever... I see what these people post, I know the latest news and what’s going on, developments within the community, etc.
It’s my theory that one very prominent event event led to this sudden insurgence of reactionary thought in these servers owners... the drama regarding Minecraft’s EULA.
For the longest time, Mojang had a EULA that forbade monetizing their game at all... like, you couldn’t make money off of it. But, clearly, as many a minecraft youtuber will tell you, they never enforced this. In this environment where there truly was no limits to monetizing your minecraft server, many servers popped up which essentially had pay2win mechanics- you paid money to get a clear gameplay advantage over other players. This was incredibly common. I literally bought a rank on one of these servers back in 2013, because I was tired of losing all the time. Servers made a lot of money off of this. People’s livelihoods depended on this, because they had quit their jobs to run minecraft servers full-time.
Then, the EULA happened. I won’t get into all of the drama regarding the EULA, but let me tell you, it was an absolute shitstorm. In June of 2014, Mojang released a statement about updates to their EULA forbidding server owners from selling access to gameplay benefits. The fallout that ensued was probably one of the biggest controversies Mojang found themselves embroiled in up until the microsoft buyout- hell, that probably doesn’t even compare. You can read about it from this guardian article, probably explains it better than I could.
All of the server owners whose businesses depended upon these predatory tactics of monetization were pissed. The amount of ire that this drew towards mojang was just mind-boggling. For many server owners, this is probably what tuned them into this idea of the “free market”... despite Mojang being a company, and not, you know, a government. They saw this action by Mojang as an overstep of their authority, poisoning the free market that was the minecraft server ecosystem. Their business effectively relied upon this lack of restrictions, so they came to resent any kind of control over servers.
In the end, it ended up taking two whole years and an acquisition by Microsoft before Mojang ever actually started taking action to punish EULA-breaking servers. But, that wasn’t before many of these servers basically shut down because they thought they couldn’t even run a server without pay2win mechanics.
So, that’s my theory of how Libertarianism is so popular among the minecraft server community. Many are just straight up trump-loving haters of political correctness, too, but I’d blame that more on the likes of popular youtubers than anything. That’s out of my realm of expertise, so I’ll let someone else cover that story.

This includes the status of my web comic Folk Knight, my visual novel MuseStruck, and all the work I’m doing for upcoming conventions (I hope to see some of you there!)
After this week, the blog entries will be a lot more digestible. But I feel, for this first one, I just need to lay everything out.

Oh, hey! I’m surprised you clicked “Keep reading.” I mean, I’m glad you did! Makes me feel less like I’m just shouting this to the void... heh ^_^;
Conventions:
Anyway, let’s just dive right in with the most time sensitive item I’ve been working on, convention prep. I’ve got three cons coming up in the next two months *sweats profusely* . This may not sound like a lot for you (or maybe it sounds like an insane “con crud” induced death wish haha) but I am equal parts super excited and super nervous about this! Upcoming cons are:

So I do my printing on my own printer. To save money this time, I’ve decided to try out a Refillable Ink Cartridge system. Which involves...... lots of syringes I guess? Haha, I think I accidentally ordered too many or something so now I just have an abundance of large needle syringes 0_0 (also note they’re a special kind for ink. not the pokey skin kind :P). Syringe Wolverine cosplay?

MuseStruck:
Okay, so before I talk about my current project, Folk Knight, I think I need to talk about MuseStruck (my other baby). So a couple years ago I suddenly got the urge to make a Visual Novel (gee, wonder where I got that idea... *side glances at Steam catalog* >_>). This VN had inspiration pulled from a lot of my favorite things including fantasy, mythology, classic literature, art, and anime.
Then a year ago, @cornpickerart and I started working on it... and quickly saw the project balloon to a size we weren’t ready for. We thought about cutting back ideas, some trimming was to the story’s benefit really. But then there were aspects that we couldn’t let go. Things that I felt were integral to the story or game experience that we wanted to make.
So. Here’s the thing. We just realized we needed to try smaller things first and work up to the type of gameplay we want to have in MuseStruck. Baby steps. That being said. MuseStruck isn’t dead. Far from it. 
I draw characters from MuseStruck still all the time. Though I’ve told myself to not dedicate so much time to writing stories for it and instead put that time and energy into bettering my skills in both art and programming. Now I can say that when I do get back to MuseStruck (which I do have a plan for when that will happen, but I’ll save that for another journal) I know I’ll be more confident and prepared to tackle it! \(^o^)/

Folk Knight:
And finally there is Folk Knight. If you made it this far then... wow. I think I might love you. Anyway, this is my current project that I am working on. I would say probably my time is split 50/50 with this and con stuff right now.
Originally I wanted it to be a web comic. Why a web comic? Well... it’s something I’ve done before. @cornpickerart and I ran a web comic back in high school that we stopped once we went of to different states and different colleges.
I wanted to tell a story that takes place in the MuseStruck universe but with a lot less overhead work and a shorter story altogether. So, Folk Knight was born! Well, so it was supposed be but then I realized something... I don’t want to do a web comic. Le gasp!!!
I actually read a ton of webcomics and enjoy the weekly experience and appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping them up. Seriously! It’s tough stuff! But after a few updates I realized that making the comic was taking a lot of time... and I wasn’t feeling it. Gosh that sounds whiny doesn’t it? I guess what I’m trying to say is, I figured out if I was going to put that much work into something, I want it to be something I want to do. And what I want to do is make a stinkin’ Visual Novel danggummit!
So that’s what brings us to the Folk Knight of now... a serial Visual Novel!

So it’s kinda a combination of both. Baby steps remember? To keep the game making doable for me, I’ll be releasing the Folk Knight VN in chapters. Every chapter will be released free to play, just like the web comic would have been free to read.
I’ve already begun the conversion of my Chapter 1 script into the Visual Novel format and am working with a few beta readers/players to help me work out the story flow and gameplay.
I’m hoping to get a Chapter 1 demo done by the end of April and Chapter 1 completed and released officially by May! I know it’s a tight deadline but I’m seriously pouring all my blood, sweat, and time into this now!
Next Week:

Double Trouble
The fact I’m posting this when season 3 just started is purely coincidence.
No, really. I planned to post this 3 days ago, but I had another project that required my attention until yesterday so I couldn’t focus completely.
So here it’s to @jantomweek day 4 prompt “double date”. I admit I had a lot of  fun with this one and even wrote this before day 3 haha.
A special mention to @weather-artz cause I know she loves Jantom, I hope this little bit helps to bright your day my child <3
Anyways I hope you guys like and have fun!

There were just a few things in this world that Janna couldn’t understand. For one, she would never get the right value of x (she gave up long ago, but miraculously always got the right answer in math tests even if her whole account was wrong), she wasn’t able to do voodoo (yet!), Tom somehow was hella chill around her… But the biggest mystery and that made Janna break a glass she was holding once (just by her own force) on how much she raged at it, was the fact Star and Marco were just friends.
And they are fine with it.
“I mean…” Janna went on one of her rants as she and Tom were chilling at her sofa forgetting all about Friday the 13th gameplay they were watching after dying once again, “if they were really just friends it would be ok, but they are not! You don’t act to your friends like they do! They are pretty much dating each other without noticing and letting out the kissing part and stuff!”
“Uhm…” Tom murmured listening to her, but it felt like he was paying more attention to the inexistent tangles he was undoing on her hair as she laid on his chest and while he was laying on the couch.
“I am serious! Tom, they have matching keychains! Star has a Yin and Marco has a Yang and if you put they close they glue to each other by the magnets inside! We didn’t have matching keychains before we started dating!”
“To be fair we already used matching wristbands,” Tom replied looking at her ceiling. Was that a blood drop or another mosquito corpse glued in the there?
“I am serious, Tom!” Janna whined turning around so she could look on his face and pulling his leg of the couch by doing so, “We need to do something!”
Tom huffed and rested his hands on her back, “I don’t see the point in that.”
“Don’t you care about our friends?”
“You know I do, but I don’t see why it should concern us.”
“Because it’s making me mad. It’s just so freaking obvious they like each other why they don’t just-” Janna pointed to a random direction with both hands- “Do it.”
Her boyfriend pulled her into his chest gently caressing her hair again (why did he like that so much?), “I understand you want them together and you love them, but force won’t help anyone. It might have the opposite effect even.” She huffed and he gave a light kiss on the top of her head. “We can’t be cupids, you know very well how that ended badly the last time we tried.” They both shivered at the memory of when Janna learned a love spell by accident and had half of Echo Creek falling in love with objects instead of people...
“There must be something we can do!” She pouted.
Tom looked at the wall across him thinking, “Well�� The most we can do it’s to call them to tag along on a date. They won’t want to be around for long and will have no other option but to hang out with each other.”
She moved on his chest, “I guess it could work…”
Tom smiled and kissed her forehead, “We can’t do much more than that anyway.”
“Fine…” Janna supported herself on her elbows in his chest, “We gonna use those tickets we got from the park, I’ll get two new ones and say we won the 4 of them”
“Sounds like a plan.” Suddenly there was a voice of a woman speaking and he looked at the screen where showed Jason walking back to his house where his dead mother called him. “Well, new round. We go with who this time?”
Janna didn’t reply, instead of holding his face turning towards her again and smashing her lips against his. The last thing that the demon would do in this world would be complaining about her surprise kisses (he wouldn’t dream of interrupting either, especially when it got this passionate) if was one of the best parts of dating her. Janna simply didn’t give a care on where or who was watching and was able to make him forget about that too when she kissed him.
For good or bad she was like drinking to him and he was past phase of drunk in love.
“Hey, if you two are going to make out at least mute the damn microphone again!”
Janna leaned back smirking at Tom and he blushed frowning at her. The bad part was the huge embarrassment she would put him into (since she didn’t care about it), by parents gasping, disgusted children, groaning in movies, complainings and witness around.
His girlfriend sat up and took the controller setting them to play as Jason and then getting the headphone to use.
“Get ready to get smashed guys!” she said and Tom heard the players groaning, two even got out the server. Janna was a merciless Jason, if you didn’t get to call the cops and have a way to run away before she got the 3 first powers, then there would be no way to win.
She put the microphone on mute again when he sat beside her and kissed his cheek, “If I get to kill all of them you call; if one of them get to escape, I’ll call them. Afterwards, some make out.” she winked at him and then got back in the game that was just starting.
Tom smiled, “Let’s see if you can.” He pulled her towards his lap hugging her by the back giving a sweet kiss on her jaw.
After all his teasing by tickles, kisses and even screaming to the players on where she was going, she called Star and Marco. And only after he got the kisses he wanted. Still worth it.

None of this was worth.
Janna was angrily sipping her smoothie, Star looking at her worried and Tom acting completely indifferent. She was mad, but unless she took the Witchery handbook out her pocket things would be fine.
“Why are you so mad?”
“Because out of all days and out of all people to meet in the freaking park, we had to meet Jackie and she had to come today!” Janna smashed the plastic cup on her hand as she looked at Marco and Jackie friendly talking as they were getting their ice creams.
Star looked confused at Janna, “I thought you were friends too?”
“We are! But not-” Janna sighed heavily- “Just not a good moment for her to be here…”
Tom handed some paper napkins so Janna could clear her hands from the smoothie she smashed, “It’s not like she’ll tag along, she’ll be back to her friends soon.”
“Hey, guys!” Marco said handing an ice cream to Star and eating his as Jackie was still waiting for hers, “Guess what?”
Tom had a bad feeling and made negative signals with his arms doing an X to Marco behind Janna, he looked at it just confused as Star, but paid attention to Janna anyways “Just say it, Marco”
“Uh…” He decided to ignore Tom’s wild signals and replied Janna, “Jackie’s friend got sick in a ride and they are riding back and won’t come back until later, so she’ll be tagging along for the afternoon!”
Janna let out something that sounded like a roar and jumped to Marco’s throat, being stopped by Tom who held her by the waist before getting her on his shoulder and walking off so she could calm down.
“What was that?” Jackie asked as she watched Tom carrying a cursing Janna away.
“No idea.” Both Marco and Star shrugged.
.
At the end of the day, Jackie was finally back with her friends. To make sure Marco didn’t suddenly decide to turn the “double date” against them, Janna made girls and boys day by doing some rides with Star and Jackie while Tom and Marco went on the other cars.
They were finally eating something waiting for the night show to start in an hour. Janna was happily chatting with Star while eating her fries when suddenly her friend began to feed Marco and giggle as he texted his mother that they had already eaten, but that wasn’t out of ordinary.
What was out of the ordinary was Marco quickly looking around and then going up to Star and giving her a quick peck on the lips.
Janna dropped the french fry on her hand, Tom blinked twice and her jaw dropped to the table. Star giggled at Marco and turned to them again blinked innocently at their shock.
“Uh, you guys ok?”
And then Janna let out a scream while Tom went on laughing hysterically.
“Since when?! How?! Why you didn’t say anything?! How come no one knows?! How I didn’t know?!”
“Uh…” Star thought for a second before replying “Since a year ago… We kinda realized and decided to give a try… Sorry, I lost the other questions.”
“How no one knows and how she didn’t know.” Marco supplied.
“Thanks, honey” Star smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek “We aren’t exactly hiding, we just don’t know how to announce and we aren’t fans of public demonstrations either, so… I guess this answer both questions.”
Tom had finally found a way to stop laughing and fist bumped Marco “Congratulations on your victory man.”
Marco smiles sheepishly “Thanks.”
“You didn’t tell me” Janna pouted sitting back and crossing her arms.
“I'm sorry, we just… decided to let everyone figure it out. It wasn’t my intention to hide.”
Tom hugged Janna by the waist and kissed her cheek “Come on, at least they are together and Jackie wasn’t a threat as you thought. And they to be a thing wasn’t what you wanted?”
“I guess” Janna took another french fry and pouted. Star and Marco laughed in her childish behavior and Tom kissed her cheek again so she gave in and smiled. “Well, I guess this deserves a cheer?”
Everyone grabbed their sodas, Star had a cup since she was sharing hers with Marco. Tom was the one to speak up, “To the most subtle double date ever”
“Agreed, cheers on us!” Marco giggled.
“I never thought I would see my ex-boyfriend with my friend while on a double date with my best friend and current boyfriend. Earth is weird.”
“Well, it makes us wonder what if things went different somehow right?” Marco said laughing.
“Not for me.” Everyone took their drinks, but Janna finished speaking, “I would still be ok since I had a crush on every person in this table.”
Janna took her soda while all the others spilled theirs.

Thinking Globally: Chu’s presentation at GDC 2017
http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1024266/Thinking-Globally-Building-the-Optimistic @kerrigore pointed me in the direction of this and said that I should watch this presentation.  I must say, it was well-worth my time: it’s a little bit over an hour long, but Michael Chu goes into an interesting discussion on three main things:
Creating the world and background setting of Overwatch
Developing the characters and their personalities from their gameplay mechanics
Translating 1 and 2 into the game, comics, animations, and videos (”how we tied it all together in one crazy team-up story”)
I think I’m gonna end up making separate posts on the different parts that stick out the most to me but for some interesting sound bites:
Chu outlined the major “guiding principles” of the entire development team’s process: 1) make it “a future worth fighting for,” 2) “focus on heroes...lots of heroes,” 3) “context in game, story outside.”  Number 1 is focusing on an idealized sort of future that is both realistic (grounded in the real world) and sci-fi based (based on sci-fi technologies).  He said that the team wanted a vision of the Earth that was not “unobtainable” as many sci-fi stories are (aka set “two-thousan years in the future”), but they didn’t want the “gritty, dark” versions of present day Earth that many other video games present.  So they settled on something more halfway (”60 years in the future”).
“Trust your audience” - this one was interesting because Chu said this was the rationale behind why the team presents its story as they do.  He argues that “trusting your audience” to solve the mysteries is more rewarding and engaging than just handing out the lore when the game launches.  While I agree with the principle of the idea (trusting your audience to be smart and witty enough to put pieces together), I don’t fully agree with Blizzard’s current methods for releasing lore, especially the pace at which it is released.  There’s “trusting your audience” and then “leaving them hanging.”
Simplicity - split a complex (mechanics-wise) hero into multiple, simpler (mechanics) heroes.  This is pretty obvious given the fact that the original Reaper had Junkrat’s frag launcher in the Museum Heist short.
“Firm” Science Fiction - the world of Overwatch sits inbetween “soft sci-fi” and “hard sci-fi” with a psuedo-“firm sci-fi.”  This means giving things cool, but easy-to-understand names and mechanics, but not working out the technological details (aka, you’re never gonna get an explanation for how Hard Light works).
Diversity - Chu says that the team is committed to making a diverse cast of characters.  The team understands that “nationality alone is not the same thing as diversity” and that “each character is a combination of traits people identify with.”  
What Makes a Hero - Abilities, Personality, Backstory, Challenges/Goals, Nationality, Relationships, Voice.  IMO, the last one is very, VERY interesting, considering how influential some of the voice actors and actresses have become in the fandom.
Relationships - Chu specifically talks about the relationship between Fareeha and Ana, as well as Fareeha’s inspirations from “her world around her” (other heroes, in particular Reinhardt, her idealism, her sense of justice, etc).  He shows the picture of Fareeha at dinner with an older man from the Reflections comic, while saying that “I don’t just mean romantic relationships - you take a character like Pharah.  She’s defined by her relationships with her family (cuts to pictures of the Strike team + young Fareeha + young Angela + young Jesse, and picture from Reflections), particularly from her mother, Ana.”
7, continued: “She also has an awesome relationship with Reinhardt... She’s much better at ice-fishing than he is.”
HERE’S THE ONE MY FOLLOWERS WANT: (34 minutes) Cuts to a picture of the Old Soldiers - Gabriel, Jack, and Ana - the one that is dropped at the end of the Old Soldier comic and which Jack looks at in the Uprising comic.  “And then I’d like to talk about one of my favorite relationships in the Overwatch universe, which is the one between Gabriel Reyes - now Reaper - Jack Morrison - now Soldier: 76 - and Ana Amari.  Cause it’s a story about power, friendship, and how a changing world can bring people together and split them apart.  It’s a relationship that defines the story of Overwatch, and how Overwatch grew as an organization, and even now today, what they’re all now up to is important to driving forward the current story of the game.  And what I really like about it is that it’s a deep, complex relationship that’s not necessarily only driven by romance, and it highlights how different people can see and experience different events, which brings me to... (changes slide to Sombra with the caption of “Perspective”) Perspective.”
9, continued: alright.  So it’s not “a lot.”  But seriously.  Please watch the segment.  I might be nitpicking words and intentions here, but considering that: 1) Chu emphasizes Fareeha’s relationship with Ana and Reinhardt literally seconds before he switches to the Old Soldiers trio, 2) Chu has retweeted lowkey Anahardt content on his twitter, and 3) “it’s a deep, complex relationship that’s not necessarily only driven by romance” all seem to indicate, however subtly, that Ana is NOT the romantic interest of either Gabriel or Jack.  In any other “similar situation” (two male friends/rivals, one “strong, single female character”) the outcome would be a given - the female character would eventually “choose” a romantic partner and the rejected male character would...ostensibly “go bad.”  In fact, Old Soldiers almost seems to imply that’s what happens - Ana “takes Jack’s side” in the fight between Reaper and Soldier: 76, but the interesting thing is that Reaper is not mad about him losing her, but rather remains mad that “he did this to me.  They left me to become this thing.” (emphasis from comic itself).
9, continued: also important is the idea that “different people can see and experience different events” and how that shapes their perspectives of the world.  Which like: http://segadores-y-soldados.tumblr.com/post/159512959195/alright-so-the-subject-of-ana-being-the-source-of   This particular post talks about.  More specifically, it talks about how these exact three characters can potentially have three extremely different interpretations of the exact same event (Ana’s “death”) and how this might have contributed to the fall out between Gabriel and Jack.
Immediately following the Old Soldiers discussion: “One of the things that we really like doing with Overwatch is playing with perspective.  We utilize perspective when we tell stories about what characters are thinking, what their goals are - and we have a lot of unreliable narrators.”  This is...a very big deal.  I think many of us in the fandom knew each character had a unique perspective on shared events, but this confirms that Blizzard is 100% aware of how they are conveying characters, the character’s motivations, their goals, their flaws, etc.  “We want people to pay careful attention to what characters think about in particular situations.”  Please, see Point 11 again.  “When [Sombra] is telling you something, she’s serving her own ends too.”  Soldier: 76 - “You can take a character like Soldier: 76 - like obviously, he has this mission that he’s on, that he believes is good (Chu’s emphasis), he seems to be willing to sometimes do things which are...maybe not super heroic, and so it makes him complicated.”
Junkrat and Roadhog: Chu has a great section on their two characters, and how they have been affected by their lives and perspectives.
Villains: “What’s important to us is that their motivations are not purely rooted in being evil, despite how they might seem on the surface.  As we reveal more about these characters, we want people to be able to empathize and understand their beliefs.  Because sometimes what makes a villain a villain is the extent to which they’re willing to go to reach their goals.  And one thing that we find most important (Chu’s emphasis) when we’re talking about our villain characters is that there is nothing (Chu’s emphasis) to say that a villain cannot be as charismatic or more (Chu’s emphasis) charismatic or as likeable as a hero character - because, like the old saying goes, ‘every villain is the hero of their own story.’” (Gee I wonder who this section was about)
Character dialogue spectrum: Chu shows a spectrum of characters while discussing their dialogue style.  Ranges from "exaggerate/silly” to “military/serious.”  From Exaggerated/silly over it goes: Junkrat, D.Va, Mei, Zenyatta (middle), Ana, Reaper, Pharah, Soldier: 76.
Timeline: Chu gives a (not detailed) rough timeline of the lore, including where the comics are placed.  
Tracer: the very last thing Chu talks about is Lena Oxton/Tracer.  And for my followers who are feeling concerned about the fact that Blizzard revealed Lena is lesbian/wlw but hasn’t done anything since, I would like to encourage you to watch the end of the presentation.  Chu talks about the team’s commitment to gender and sexuality diversity in the game’s cast, and how Lena represents their starting point for this - that she is a hero we can all aspire to be, and that she has a girlfriend at the same time.  On twitter, Chu has been very public about his support of Korra/Asami, and how excited he is for the next Avatar comic to come out.
Tracer, continued: “From early on, Overwatch has been committed to diversity of all sorts - not just nationality and gender and body type, but also sexuality.”  This, along with their repeated statements that more LGBT+ characters will be confirmed in due time, does give me some small hope that we will see 1) more of Emily (much like with Brigitte, I suspect Emily will show up, but it will take time to see her), and 2) more LGBT+ characters will be revealed or confirmed. 
“What we have always striven to do with the Overwatch universe is to make diversity seem like the fabric of the world, as it is in our world.”  Chu’s commitment to this statement can be found in the Uprising dialogue, both in the game and in the comic, in with Lena plays a major role.  In the comic, she helps convince Commander Morrison to “do the right thing” and send in the Strike Team to rescue the hostages, and in the game mode, she is the fun, cheerful, focused voice of optimism compared to the other more cautionary members.  
Again, I would highly encourage everyone to watch some or all of the presentation.  Super interesting, very thought-provoking.  While I don’t totally love Blizzard’s approach to handling and releasing the story of Overwatch, I do respect and appreciate the perspectives behind the building of it.  Many of Chu’s principles to world-building, character-development, and story-telling are similar to my own (and @kerrigore, who feels the same way about his approach to storytelling).

All in all the entire Panda Pop package is put together nicely. There are numerous things that can make the game more dynamic. For example there is an interesting gadget system that’s interesting to play around with.
Gameplay aside, Panda Pop has a really nice Chinese-looking aesthetics. It’s mostly colorful, cute and fluffy stuff, and if you’re a fan of these, you won’t be disappointed. Each bubble you pop represents an element and has a different color. Red bubbles represent fire, blue bubbles represent water. While green and yellow bubbles represent wood and the sun.
It all adds up and in the end makes Panda Pop quite a decent game.
