I have been called out for being too mean before. What tends to happen is I have really good dramatic ideas for things to say in the moment and then I'm like "well, I'm used to people not hearing me before I bring up the gravity of the situation sooo... maybe dramatization is justified?" But that's never worked out for obvious reasons.

I'm really sorry if I came off as needlessly cruel btw. I don't want to have anything bad to say about you guys, genuinely. As a Marcy kin, as well as mayybe a Sasha kin but on my betterment path (btw not in the manipulative cheerleader side of her or even the team leader side but in the "I have opinions all the time, and if I'm not in control at all times, I'll go crazy! it's actually kind-of exhausting" type, mainly because of autism abuse(?) trauma- but like, that's not begging for sympathy it's just an explanation), as well as a sapphic who likes to imagine being loved, I completely understand why the trio are favourite characters, esp with how comparitively uncomplicated most of the side characters seem to be. With a cast so large and all.

I'm sorry I went too far, honestly I'm really just trying to make a splash at this point due to current issues and I'm really sorry I said something that made you feel bad about liking characters or the writing of the show. Believe me, I know how it feels for comfort characters to be ruined by a hater.

Lastly, sorry that I went off on you, I genuinely did not guess that you were a Sprig enjoyer. Terribly sorry about that, honestly. It's just... did you forget? Forgive me for assuming negative things about you based on nothing. I also don't blame you if you forgot that one moment before posting, nuerodivergent brains are just like that sometimes. (also remember how Sasha sacrificed herself at the end of s1 with the iconic red moon shot, which was when the fandom started being open online. So, also canon window-throwing moment kiiinda? Like the setting and intent is different but like, does it still count?) Bottom line is forgive me for being mean to you with no basis.

Actually I'm doing a PS. thing because it's worth mentioning: I'm not bringing up current issues to justify my being a bully or anything. Just as an explanation for the bad things I've done. It's honestly hard to tell where to draw the line between constructive criticism and ruining other people's comfort characters. I absolutely do not want to give any people like me the impression that they are doing something bad by making content about a character they can relate to and their happy ending, since I get enough of that irl and I do NOT want to be the next link in the chain.

I did some mental reframing and my problem is that I'm obsessing over characters who are basically tertiary characters and rarepairs in the minds of the greater fandom once again and making it out to be a bigger deal than it is, as I'm kinda pissy about this non-issue specifically since this is The Frog Show and I feel a bit more entitled than usual, yeah sorry I'll stop I am way more in the wrong than I was lol I'll shut up (please don't feel like you have to beg for me to come back I explicitly am not trying to manipulate you into feeling guilty with this last one btw since I have had to defend myself on this front)

No need to apologize! It's not one singular person doing it and truth be told I don't think it's a large majority that thinks that (albeit the ones that do are quite vocal). I didn't mean to upset anyone or anything when complaining about it, I was just letting off some steam.

Admittedly, I do think there are reasonings for people thinking this way. A lot of the focus with Clash has been on the cogs, especially after the 1.3 update. Which I can't say I blame them! Managers were something new and exciting and (from what I can tell) really separated them from the other servers. I don't blame them for wanting to put focus on that because that was their thing. Alongside other things, but majorly when you hear Clash the managers are mentioned in someway shape or form. But as we all know, toons ended up taking the short stick from this. This isn't helped by the gameplay itself, being mainly a fetch-quest deal so you often only talk to npcs once or twice unless if they're repeated ones and the taskline wasn't entirely accessible on the wiki for a while (shoutout to the wiki maintainers. The taskline script is a savior). Which I'm quite excited to see if they deal with this issue with the rewrite. I imagine they will, but anyways. Social media posts would often contain more managers than toons, which I also believe they're starting to fix. And ontop of this, I believe most of the team in the early era of the sever is gone, so there's been some stuff lost in the change. So yeah, dialogue/writing has been kind of rocky. AGAIN- I am completely aware of the rewrite going on and I am not judging them harshly based off of their current state. I'm very appreciative of the fact that they took the time to listen and are focusing on trying to fix it up. And then there's also fandom mischaracterization- especially of the cogs. Forgive me for mentioning mischaracterization because normally I wouldn't really care (I've mischaracterized characters before..especially in my younger years. I think it's just a process of learning an having fun and I hate to limit anyone because of it). With that being said, there's a lot of baby-fying and coddling of the managers. Especially with those who have more 'sympathetic' stories (Misty, Chip, Winston specifically). Don't get me wrong, I like these characters and I can appreciate the story they're trying to tell, but I feel like so many people will hear their dialogue and then misplace their anger. People get mad at Bessie for trying to protect HER lighthouse or at the Elders for trying to keep YOTT safe (lets not forget Winston was there to brainwash toons). Yes, yes technically there would've been better ways to do it but consider this: The toons are scared. Their homes, stores, lives are being taken over by a big corporation that has more resources that they do. They don't have the privilege of waiting, seeing, and gathering. And then people forget that the company has such a huge role in both toons and cogs lives. If you're mad over the mistreatment of Misty or the fact that Winston is still in the dungeon, your anger should be directed at the company who doesn't care. I may be completely wrong in saying this, but I feel like the stories with almost all of the managers is a reflection of the company. The toons are only trying to protect themself and their environments and yet this seems to go forgotten when people start bashing them. And of course, I'd consider myself a toon guy so me saying all this and complaining may come off as "I HATE the cogs and everyone who posts only about them!" and for clarification that's not true. You all know how much I like that little brain thing. The cogs are interesting, their designs are fun, I don't blame people for liking them because I do too. I just wish that the thought process behind so many of these discussions wasn't so cog focused because I believe that this anger at the toons for, RIGHTFULLY, defending themselves helps push this mischaracterization of them as a whole. That they're mean, boring, unlikeable while the opposite is true. Yes there are some, what I'd consider, "filler" dialogue from the shopkeepers. This is just because of the gameplay. But there are some funny and cute moments with them if people would just listen and read.

Which also brings me into another point: people skip the dialogue. I've caught myself doing this before (on my first account. I have 4 accounts total, so I reread the dialogue on like 3 of them). But people will complain about lack of toon personalities while doing this. It's like reading through a comic book, only looking at the drawings, and then complaining because there "isn't a storyline". Luckily, there's been efforts to keep track of the dialogue on the wiki but I doubt a lot of people are going through and reading the entire script. It just feels very disingenuous to criticize the dialogue when you haven't even read it. Likewise, people don't seem to read the blogposts either. This is both from a dialogue aspect and from an update aspect (people continuously asking about hammerspace/mix-and-match under unrelated posts).

First of all I'm so sorry for bringing t/b discourse here but this has been so gd annoying I need help. And all this is is on twitter-retro etc.

I'm 100% here for switch please keep in mind. Idc what anyone else likes it's food I'll eat all of it. But this fandom. Oh this fandom. So here's the context, it's a anime show with a really popular almost canon mlm ship, one of them is crazy beautiful and the other one is a big muscular man. Naturally the fandom like the pretty man as bottom and the muscular man as top. Let's call this DC. Not all people tho and it's the problem.

See, there are some creators who hate the above dynamics so much they make the muscular man a woman, sometimes trans which is fine but they always babygirl him, call him wifey, use she/her pronouns, go all out to make the pretty man over the top masculine so he can be top while making the canon masculine man demure little wife. Note that they're both really tall but D has long hair so they always make him wear accessories to feminize him. I made friends with some authors who used to like switch, they wrote DC back then and they were so good. They were all into switch too. Over the years they became really hateful of DC dynamics and started to exclusively write CD, talk about CD only, rt CD art exclusively.

This is still fine, they're like 10 people out of thousands who don't care, and most people don't care. Until one day recently when I said it was better to ship switch. Those people started clowning me, saying it's their right to exclusively like whatever, write whatever, started ignoring how the show portrays them. They wrote literal threads detailing how to how use tags as if no one knows, shaded people who said they didn't care and would use whatever tags they liked. It got to a point I had to ask them to stop, they started saying I was harassing them and accused the fandom of harassing them on anon and ao3. When I said it Doesn't Matter they said it was racist to suggest that, telling me to block if I didn't like their posts. I could not make them understand how fetishistic it was, just because Japanese fans do this doesn't mean it's good or we have to follow? They somehow figured out who I was and blocked me, kicked me out of a server we were in together, so I lost mutuals and some followers too.

Then they started answering my asks unseriously like "I write CD to piss YOU off" "can't project on the twink like yall" and started insulting switch fans calling us hypocrits. There isn't much CD content to begin with how can I share more of those? Whatever is available they make it heteronormative like that. One of them deadass called me an asshole for "harassing" them just because I said it's rude to block people over t/b dynamics when no one is bothering anyone, because these people are always blocking anyone posting DC and making a bubble of CD only fans. This is bound to make them lose track of canon but who cares anymore. They keep complaining about being harassed for liking CD and yes some fans probably send anon hate but that doesn't mean any critic of CD is harassment?

Tell me how I'm the asshole here for suggesting they stop obsessing over t/b this much? How am I the asshole when I'm the one they all blocked and apparently I'm a bad guy because I followed some popular accounts who post DC and said some weird things about D which I didn't even know about.

- obviously, you'd have to get along with Tom, Georg and Gustav. So if you don't, there's no way he'll go out with you, especially if you can't get along or hate Tom.

-Dates together consist of stuff you guys bought somewhere, or if you guys went to a fastfood restaurant.

It really disgusted me as someone who is mentally ill because this isn't acceptable behavior in a fandom with such a demographic that NEEDS to have this sort of content tagged. I tried to tell them that this was unacceptable and they can't deny responsibility for how they're hurting other people just because they're mentally ill and that they need to get help and find ways to heal so they aren't suffering anymore, but eventually they blocked me because they didn't want to listen. The behavior they displayed and the way they spoke to me was really disturbing and I worry about this kid being engaged with on here. Please just block and report them. I tried my best to push them towards getting help but like I said, they blocked me. If you want to send them resources so they can get help I wouldn't be against it but otherwise don't engage and just simply report and block. I don't like knowing that someone this unstable is online at SUCH a young age and I really want you guys to steer clear of this person so they aren't negatively influenced any further. I can't force them offline and I don't intend to, but they really shouldn't be here if they can't even come into a social space without spewing out triggering and glamorized material of horrific topics into a kids fandom. Really, they shouldn't be here given their age. They're not stable. Someone else (who also isn't a good person but we won't get into that) seems to have told them off as well in asks but that didn't get through to them either. I only said something because I got a direct notification of them reblogging something with disturbing text.

And before the usual "why are you bUlLyInG a child" anon ask comes in... Children need to be held accountable and given appropriate consequences and I've already held them accountable. They openly admitted to not wanting to do anything about this with excuses so the best option for consequences that aren't unfair or rude is to make sure people aren't engaging with them until they stop with their extremely harmful behaviors. They don't get a pass for their behavior even with mental illness (as someone with mental illness) because there's a difference between struggling and acting on bad stuff + making others suffer. I would even excuse it if they had been like "omg sorry I was having a mental break" but they only tried to defend themselves having done it by being like "I'm just mentally ill I can't help it" lol. And again children need to be held responsible for their actions or else they grow into adults who think they can do whatever they want

I feel so bad

I was in a thread. Defending Stolas, beacuse I don't see him as a abusive character in the way the antis do, I guess. And then one person comes in. And I am stating to feel like a bad person. Was I in the wrong here. I am shit at explaining things, and I really didn't try to offend anyone. I was just saying what my opinions are. I am crying right niw and I feel like never having an opinion again!

Them: There's a certain point you shouldn't respect someone's opinion. You sound like republicans saying "Agree to disagree" and what we disagree on is the right for people to live. Ignoring what is overtly abusive behavior isn't going to make it less abusive. All it does is normalize it for people who are less experienced.

Me: That's not what I was trying to get a across. And I respect your guys opinion on hating Stolas, so can you guys respect that I don't see him that way. Like, it's a cartoon we are talking about here. It can be interpeted in different ways because it's not real. Again. I do think that what Stolas did was not okay. But I think he is starting to change for the better. I belive that everyone desreves a second chance. And if it makes you feel better.IF I had to choose a side I would choose Blitzø. But it's not all black and white. And I am not going to choose sides on this. They are both broken and needs LOTS of help.

Me: I think people also forget that Blitzø is not afraid of Stolas. He mouthed of to Mammon. Blitzø is not scared of the higher ups. He could/would not let himself be intiminated like that. He's gone through to much shit for that.

Them: That isn't true because you are here commenting about how much you think you shouldn't have to respect our opinion. "He never did anything to ME so even though he abused you, I think I should not have to take sides and I'll still be his friend". Which is also the attitude you have.

Them: Coming here arguing with people and telling them they are wrong because you don't like the facts isn't respectful. And recognizing a lot of people who hate Stolas' do so because we are victims of narcissistic abuse and so recognize it readily while you defend that sort of person is inherently triggering, even when we have the space to not be personally invested or upset, we will never respect abuse defenders.

Them: And arguing that Blitz isn't afraid is to just entirely miss ... Everything. If you don't think people express fear as anger or lashing out, I wonder how you made it this far. After all, the terror response is literally "FIGHT or flight"

Me: I am sorry. I truly didn't mean to offend anyone. You don't have to like Stolas. Again. I am not saying what he did was right! I am just saying there is more to these characters. That's all. Again. Sorry. 100% sincerly. I didn't mean any harm.

Them: There is more to them, but how you decide to value that is a reflection of you. Dahmer brutally tortured and murdered young men of color and many people romanticize that as him being lonely and gay. John Wayne Gacy tortured and killed 33 boys between the ages of 12 and 18. He was also a victim of physical and sexual abuse. Does any of that matter? You can still see Stolas perspective and all the ways he was hurt and still have the sanity to say "that doesn't excuse what you did".

Them: When you start deciding that the abuse somebody went through is more important than the abuse that they inflict on others around them. That's a reflection of you. We're not even talking about the abuser anymore.

Oh my guy I feel you ENTIRELY!!! It is such a shame that fandoms these days seem to live and die in the same breath. Its a mix of a lack of attention span, canon creators speed running the ruin of their work, and fandom festering with neo-conservatism dressed up in progressive clothes. Its truly a shame but every time I even touch fandom stuff I get worn out by just how...toxic it has become.

I'm so tired that whether its antis or the other side (genuinely don't know what its called anymore) fandom has become a soapbox. Its work. I wish the focus was on communities creating things for each other and interacting instead of a debate to see who is the most right.

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that in my opinion, you have nothing to apologize for because you did nothing wrong but expressing your POV. I'm sorry I do it anonymously, it feels wrong because until now I was never afraid of voicing my opinions... but these days it feels like saying anything in relation with this subject could be taken as "taking a side", which is weird. It feels like, you know... cold war lol !

I've recently noticed a tendency to, instead of directly commenting an opinion x user disagrees with, opening another post to criticize the opinion in question. Is it fear to confront the person who said the 'controversial' opinion ? Is it a way to say "I have a different opinion but I won't discuss it ?" (which is fair, sometimes I want to say things I feel without having someone arguing with me over it). It's very passive agressive, and it makes a certain number of fellow fans very uncomfortable. That's what I gathered from the recent discussions I had in private, anyway.

It's just not within the Haladriel fandom, it's in the entire TROP fandom ! Some people don't dare to speak about Celeborn because they're scared that someone will react by posting an agressive take on him. Recently, there was a fight about Adar being a good guy or a bad guy, fans were mocked (again, never in the face but in parallel posts) because they thought that maybe Sauron could be healed with Nenya, etc. Myself I used to post quite frequently, now I just reblog stuff because I think that if I say something that will sound controversial, maybe my opinion will be attacked in another post ! even if my name is not mentioned I'll know it's about what I said. That's not what I call a safe environment.

I don't want to see Tumblr turn into Twitter and Reddit where people will fight and throw insults at each other over fiction, but I'm a bit worried regarding where this passive agressive attitude will lead the Haladriel fandom and even the TROP fandom at large, to be honest.

There's not a day where I don't dread to open the Haladriel/Saurondriel tags and find post opened by shippers who criticize how other shippers see their ships. We don't need the antis anymore, it seems, we seem to become very good at destroying ourselves. It makes me very sad because pre 2x08 and even a couple of weeks post 2x08, the Haladriel tags were filled mostly with positivity, good fun and awesome metas. Now I only see dick contests : "my opinion is better than yours." "No, mine is better than yours and you have no media literacy if you think differently !".

I'm sorry for weighing down with this, but it had to come out of my chest and I don't feel safe anymore saying all this on my blog.

I'm sorry anon you feel this way and I'm sorry you felt the need to stay anonymous to protect yourself. This isn't the inquisition. This is fandom space and you should feel safe enough to express your opinions without fear of taking side. Again, this isn't a war. There are no sides and no wrong takes, no matter what some fans believe.

And yes, I decided to speak up because after a couple of posts I've made, I started to notice posts from other Tumblr users that alluded to things I said. Even from a blog I had blocked. And it got me thinking. And it pissed me off a little.

I'm usually chill. Even when I don't agree with some takes, I don't feel the need to write a long ass essay on how the other's interpretation is bad while mine is progressive, feminist, smart, supported by canon, text, my best friend, my butcher... I just read the post, think 'meh, that's bs', scroll and go on with my life.

I know that for some people that's impossible. I know that some have this need for validation. But really, I can understand (sometimes, not always) this crave for queer relationships. But when the ship involves a hot white man (villain) and hot white woman (heroine), there's really not need for validation, right? History of television validates you.

And yes, things changed by the end of season 2. New waves of fans sadly always mean more assholes. And sometimes those assholes are popular. That's it. The only thing I can do is to call out this anti-fun/fan behavior and try to create a safer space.

So, I'm glad for your message. And if you are afraid to speak up I can do it for you. I've got broad shoulders and no desire to be popular 😂
