Tumblr media
Your frustration mounts as you click the permissions again to allow the camera and microphone access. It’s so annoying! It just keeps running you in circles. Great. This is off to a good start. Late for the interview. That’s always the best first impression.
When at last your firewall stops blocking the call, you flinch at the sight of yourself in the corner. You’re further jarred by the man staring back at you. Your mouth opens and for a moment, you’re frozen. You were so focused on troubleshooting, you forgot about what was waiting on the other end.
“Oh, hi,” you squeak. “Sorry, I--” you look around, glancing through the clear walls of the library study room. It’s the first time you’ve been to this branch but you didn’t think the clutter of your apartment would make a good backdrop. “I was having issues with my camera.”
“Quite alright,” he responds with a grin and a lilted accent. He sounds as professional as he looks.
He wears a grey jacket over a muted teal shirt that lights up his eyes, even over the screen. His short hair is combed back neatly and there’s not a speck of stubble on his jaw. Under the structure of his attire you can tell he’s well-built.
You resist the urge to look down at yourself. A white blouse. Boring but professional. It gets the job done. Hopefully.
You force a smile.
“Thank you for meeting with me,” he begins through your nervous silence. “I do appreciate your time and I would hate to waste it. So, we can hop right in.” He looks unflinchingly into the camera, “oh, let us not go so far past courtesy. I am James, we’ve been corresponding, yes?”
“Uh, yeah, I remember. James.” You gulp.
He says your name with a keen inclination. “This is rather not the position which requires those cliche questions so I won’t trouble you with asking what animal best reflects your personality.”
You cough out a humouring chuckle and fold your hands on the desk.
“Forgive if I should seem to the point. You see, it’s a very practical position. I think it’s best we go over what is expected before we go into the finer details; expenses, relocation, dates--”
“Mm,” you squeak and put a finger up, “s-sorry, um, I thought we were interviewing but it sound like you’ve made a decision?”
“Well, yes, I’ve reviewed your CV and your submitted profile and your answers to the questionnaire were acceptable. I didn’t think there was much else to consider,” he intones. You shift and try to hide your surprise.
“No, of course, that makes sense,” you say. “Thanks, I guess I was confused.”
“Not to worry. I find that written communication can often lack clarity so I thought it best we have a face-to-face in this circumstance,” he looks down as if he has a book or paper before him. “So, did you have any questions before I proceed?”
“No, no, really, I'm sure you’ll answer them all.” Your cheeks bloom in a half-smile. You were so nervous about getting the job but you’ve already got it.
“Right then,” he sits back and once more stares down the camera. “It is a very old property but the upkeep has been consistent. There should not be any glaring necessities for maintenance, this more of a custodial position. So, you would be the one to keep the place clean, make sure it is aired out, tend to the lawns but we do employ a grounds keeping service that comes fortnightly to trim.”
You nod. It’s intriguing. You were sent photos of the property but you’re not quite sure of its purpose. Judging by the clustered pines in the background, you would guess it’s remote. A getaway that could be a goldmine for those wanting a vacation from the urban jungle.
“You would have a roster, you see, of those you could contact for service so you will not require any specialisations. You are the day-to-day and would be expected to bring in the appropriate support for higher-touch difficulties.”
“Right,” you try not to show your anxiety.
“Albeit I should warn you that the reception in that location is not the greatest so if you cannot call out, you would need to keep trying. It will eventually catch but uh, not to mind, as long it is attended is what matters, not when,” he says.
“Mhm, that makes sense. Um, can I ask what the property is? Is it like a summer home or...”
“Ah, family inheritance,” he answers primly. “I’ve not much use for it past the sentimental value and I thought of leasing it for traveling parties but I’ve heard horror stories. Right now, I’m merely sitting on it until I figure out exactly what to do with it.”
“Oh, right. Wow. Quite the inheritance.”
“Hm, yes, my uncle did rather adore me. I was the only one named in his will but he was a bit of a curmudgeon.” He laughs. “Now, I must ask the most important question--”
Before he can, the door swings open and you jump in your seat. Your heart sinks. You signed the room out for ninety minutes. You thought it would be more than enough. Surely it hasn’t been that long.
Shoot. It’s him. How did he find you? You deliberately went out of your way so that he couldn’t.
“Jake,” you stand and turn to him, trying to block the computer. “What are you doing?”
“There you are,” he touches his chest as if he should be the one so afraid. “You didn’t come home--”
You growl and cross your arms.
“Jake, go away,” you grit out. “Not right now. Please.”
“I had to make sure you’re okay,” he steps into the room and you push yourself back against the table. “Who else is going to look after you?”
“I will scream, alright,” you warn. “Now leave me alone. I’m tired of telling you.”
He sighs and his jaw squares. “I don’t get you. You act like I’m such a bad guy and I haven’t done anything to you. I never hurt you but you hurt me. You just spit in my face--”
“Pardon,” the voice rises from the speaker at your back. “If I may, she is occupied and you are interrupting. I have a mind to contact emergency service should you persist.” Your mouth falls open and you turn to look at your laptop. James leans forward to glare at the lens, “Not sure who you are, fellow, but the lady has been clear.”
“Who-- who is he?” Jake sputters.
“Please, just go,” you plead. “Or I will call the police.”
Little good they will do, you think, but that doesn’t need to be said aloud.
He frowns and his eyes glint dangerously. You stare back at him, tense, fingers curling and uncurling nervously. That man on the screen won’t stop him and you don’t know if anyone would hear you from the desk.
“Fine, guess I’ll see ya around,” he relents and backs out.
You don’t move until he snaps the door shut. You hurry over and twist the lock on the inside. You don’t know why you didn’t do that before.
“Are you alright?” James asks, drawing you back to the desk.
You sit and look at the keyboard, “I’m very sorry. I...”
“He doesn’t sound like a friend,” James says. You shake your head. “Well, then, it does sound like you’re in need of a fresh start. I do hope this can be that for you.”
You look up and bat away the glimmer on the brims of your eyes. You’re not just afraid, you’re embarrassed. His kindness is as comforting as it is unexpected.
“Thanks, um, anyway...” you exhale, “you were going to ask something.”
“Yes, uh, yes, I was,” he reconfigures and puts another smile on. “When can you depart? I would of course arrange travel to be sure you get here safe and sound.”
“Oh, when... whenever is best. Not to be too desperate but as soon as possible,” you say.
“Wonderful,” he praises, “absolutely wonderful. Is tomorrow too soon? Pardon my own desperation.”
“Tomorrow?” You utter and shake your head. “Tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow.”
It's sudden and scary but it’s good. The sooner you go, the less time Jake has to figure out what you’re doing. The less chance he can follow. It’s an escape. Not a perfect one but it’s all you have.
🩸
You spend all night packing. You parse down what you have to the essentials and put the rest in bags. You don’t care about the furniture. You say as much in your email to your landlord, telling him to use your deposit for the disposal.
You whittle your life down to three bags. A large suit case, a knapsack, and a single purse. You have it ready to go by the door.
You feel uneasy about it. You stare at your luggage, the lights off, windows closed. Your phone buzzes and you put it to silent, ignoring the messages from your personal pest. You’ll be done with him too. You wonder if you should just toss your cell.
You don’t sleep. You can’t. You still can’t believe you’re getting out. You hope you haven’t given the game away.
There’s a tap on the window. You nearly roll onto the floor. You look over and hear it again, a harder impact. Are you serious? He’s throwing stones. He could break the damn glass.
You shake your head. You won’t fall for it. Not again. You remember when he came to your door and cried until you opened up. He even smeared ketchup on his face to make you think he was hurt. It’s hard to tell the difference through a peephole.
Almost there. Almost out. You just need to make it a few more hours.
As you ignore the incessant tapping and the light of your phone glowing ever few minutes, your thoughts turn bitter. You should message everyone who turned their back on you and tell them exactly what they’ve put you through. Somehow, you think they’d care as much as they did before.
Sleep eludes you but a foggy daze comes over you as the windows soften with the early morning. There’s no more pebbles bouncing off the pane. Just you and the buzz of the sleeping city.
Your alarm chimes and you get up as your head pulses. You’re used to the constant fatigue. It will ease up and you’ll just feel a bit heavy. When it’s normal, you don’t notice as much.
You get ready and have an instant coffee by the door. James messages just before nine. Your car will be there in ten. Oh, early. You don’t mind about that.
You won’t go out and wait. You’ll stay here, where it’s safe.
When your phone goes off again, you expect it to be Jake. It’s James. Whew. You’re so close, you can’t believe it.
You grab your knapsack and purse, and drag your suitcase out behind you. You lock the door and throw the key through the mail slot. You hurry down the hall and take the stairs over the elevator.
You don’t look back or anyway but forward. You look at your cell. 'Black Jaguar’ followed by a plate number. Jaguar? Holy moly.
The tinted window rolls down and reveals the same face from the Zoom call. You didn’t know he was coming himself. You assumed he was sending a cab or something. You slow as you come out the door. He smiles and pops open the door.
Before you can come forward, another figure appears, blocking your way.
“Hey, I've been calling all night,” Jake says. You stop short and nearly yelp. Of course!
“Jake, move.”
“Where are you going?” He looks at your bags desperately. “Wait, you can’t--”
“Pardon me, sir, is there some issue?” James strides up behind him.
Jake turns to face him and stiffens, “and who are you—wait, you’re that guy from the computer.”
“I’m none of your business, as is her life,” James insists. “Now, seems you’re used to picking on those smaller than you but let’s see how you do against me?”
James steps closer. He’s a few inches taller than Jake. You can’t move as they stare each other down. You wait, expecting chaos.
“I was only talking,” Jake shows his palms and shrugs. “It’s whatever. She’s a bitch anyways.”
He turns and snarls over his shoulder at you. You back up. As Jake turns, he’s knocked off kilter as James hurls his fist into his jaw. The shorter man staggers and falls to one knee, catching himself in the grass.
“Well, that was a lovely chat,” James smirks and beckons to you, “shall we?”

Relationship Dynamics/timeline
Previous | Next
------------------------------------------
This will appear in the comic, but it plays a part/context to his relationship. It's kinda spolier but not really, so skip is optional. This might change as the comic is created!
Pre Doom: Shadow x rouge failure
Rouge's positive influence on Shadow can't be understated, but Rouge digs too deep, even manipulating and attempting to use GUN methods on shadow to help him. This triggers the memory of Maria's shooting. This gruesome image creates confusion and the lack of certainty makes him suspicious of Rouge, given her job and connection to GUN. It was a GUN solider in his memory. It causes him to close off from her, and he becomes directionless. Shadow wonders aimlessly, in an attempt to find something familiar. Rouge, trying to maintain their connection, becomes more of an enabler than a partner, coddling him as he continues inward. Eventually they realize their dynamic is turning them into the worst part of themselves, and they return to being friends in an attempt to rebuild what was lost. Rouge offers shadow a place at GUN, maybe an agent under the Govt, or a bed at her new home. Shadow denies them, still unsure who to trust. This feeling is familiar and he longs for a connection, a purpose...
Doom: manipulation and self resolve
Click "Shadow's story" for shadow's canon lore Click "prologue" for my headcanon lore, post "shadow the hedgehog" (2006). Black Doom's return starts nov, 2005 and concludes march, 2006. The Toll takes place 1 year later, late feb 2007.
Post Doom: Fight with Sonic
Shadow joins GUN, much to Sonic's disappointment. He claims Shadow needs freedom and time to rediscover himself and should join team sonic. This ends in an argument, with Shadow deciding to be firm: "Are you joining because you want to, or because you think you have to? I just don't want you to be stuck under another hive mind's control and lose sight of yourself, because you're scared to face the world. You're not alone, by the way, you got friends, you got me--I think what you need--" "ENOUGH! We are not friends and you do not get to tell me what I need. Thank you for saving me, sonic, but I don't owe you anything, but I do owe the world... my debt will be paid through doing good with GUN, and that is my choice. When next we meet, it will be business or for the sake of the world. Goodbye." Sonic takes this very seriously and seems to spend a long time alone from everyone. Neither discuss the argument with anyone. Shadow often visits Amy's cafe because Sonic avoids it. She gradually wears him down and they become surprisingly close, like siblings. He begins to mull over the sonic situation with her, asking her advice and generally obsessing with sonic.
Nearly 1 year later: Fear of the public.
Shadow works for GUN, but the public views him as a fraud, a ticking time bomb and a weapon. GUN has him under media/social lock down, with his travels and events planned to better his report with the public. Shadow requires GUN's permission for most events. After being denied or having the permissions be granted AFTER the event, Shadow stops asking. He becomes withdrawn and restless, even to Amy. Shadow begins memory hypnosis and general trauma therapy to truly move on, but this only intensifies his unrest as November comes around... Rouge is unsure how to help him. She's fearful he will become defensive again and shut her out for good. (Omega doesn't understand these complicated emotions well enough to assist beyond offering his own views on his own experiences.) --------------------------------------

so u saying p’som not the one who find jobs for them ok so who does it? if GMMTV wants their artist to get money to the company so why some artists doesn’t have any jobs even if they are really successful? ppl was making points saying every single artist who is managed from p’som is seen jobless, while other from different managers have lot of jobs and isn’t even that successful. also, i really don’t think the actors themselves go outside asking for events or talking to brands, isn’t their job to act? im asking this genuinely, i know nothing from this industry, everything so blurry. tbh i find really weird how those managers have so many artist to take care of, i believed that each manager would have just one or two couple to take care of not above ten artist i was weirded tf out
According to Joong in that clip I linked, the person in charge of securing work for GMMTV artists is an Events Manager that is separate from the Artist Manager we usually see. In the case of First and Khaotung, P'Som is their artist manager and her job is simply to manage the schedules they already have. So, if you're wanting to get mad at someone for a perceived lack of work, you need to get mad at the nameless, faceless Event Manager instead of P'Som.
Artists might not have work for many reasons. If they aren't famous enough, no offers might be coming in, but in the case of both EarthMix and FirstKhaotung (who share a manager), they are 100% getting offers. They are simply not accepting them. As a general rule, the more famous you are, the less you have to do these gimmicky brand deals to make money. Win is probably the most popular artist at GMMTV and I haven't seen his face in like a year. They're not working because they don't want to work.
I don't know why this is such a strange concept for people. Like you said in your ask: they're actors; their job is to act. Nothing else is required of them and although the fans might enjoy seeing them every once and a while off screen, these events are not fun for the artists. They're just extra work.
The artists that do a lot of these events are people still trying to make a name for themselves. JoongDunk are a great example. I imagine that after THK, we'll see a significant decrease in their sponsored events as well because they will no longer need them to remain relevant. Not working is a luxury.
The only events that truly hold weight for me are magazine spreads and luxury brand endorsements, both of which are likely not coming in for FK—at least in Thailand—because they don't meet Thailand's very strict beauty standards. They're also both queer as fuck. Everything else is just pointless drivel to earn a few extra bucks, which they clearly don't need or they would do more of it.
These boys have a fantastic relationship with P'Som. They bought her a Nintendo Switch so they could all play together when they went to Brazil. The three of them + EarthMix hang out in their free time. They all went to a concert together just a few weeks ago. There is nothing to suggest they feel slighted by her and if they really didn't like their treatment at GMMTV, they could leave. Once again, they are adults. They do not need strangers on the internet making a fuss for them about some perceived slight that only exists in their heads.

Unwanted Soul _ Part 9 = Requested
[Yandere!Alastor x Owner of his Soul!Reader]
Part 1 — Part 2 — Part 2.5 (ask) — Part 3 — Part 4 — Part 5 — Part 6 — Part 7 — Part 8 — Part 9 (here)
Tumblr media
The days when you worked for Lucifer were dull and boring, you saw nothing to gain even though you’re the one doing all the information searching and collecting. You went belong Lucifer’s expectation when you said you’ll infiltrate and plant yourself close to the source so that the information collected was reliable
Lucifer told you directly that he expected for you to just listen and gather what rumors were around and tell him, or what information was available then you report to Lucifer in a neat pile. Never did he think you’ll go above and beyond, considering your mood and status of wanting to get yourself a second death
Well, you didn’t really mind it all. Back when you were writing your novel, you had a ton of characters, each with different backgrounds and personality. You tried just researching online to get the information, but there wasn’t that feeling when you were writing them. You needed to get the feel of it. So you actually tried out part-time jobs from all over the place to get it
Turns out it worked since even a copy of the novel got such fame and wealth…
Now, you realized you didn’t need to create something for you to know what you have. With your new power, you seem to have something akin to photographic memory to the point you’ll be able to keep what you see and know like a compute file system. Very convenient and steal-proof
Your main target happened to be Vox, the TV Demon and an Overlord that is acquainted and in alliance with another two Overlords Velvette and Valentino. Lucifer requires newer information of the modern Overlords, so you went to the V Tower to sneak within their ranks
That was before your charm abilities from your pages developed to what you have today, so Lucifer gave you an entirely new look and some common powers so you didn’t make an impression on Vox or the other two Overlords
It was through Vox that you learned of Alastor as well. While you never saw him, you heard plenty from Vox to know they weren’t overly fond of the other. Alastor seem to tolerate Vox and didn’t even see Vox as a treat since it was all so childish from on outlooker’s perspective
But what you learned from within was even worse. Vox was controlling, very controlling. He not only hypnotizes the customer and reporters to boost his fame and gain loyalty, he treats his employee the same and than some. His people were treated as slaves, dehumanized, and worse than animals. All for Vox’s entertainment
“Don’t.” You firmly declined, “Let’s just get on with it.”
“Wow, you’re really into all that redemption thing? Goody-two-shoes huh.” Vox smirked condescending, “Can I get your name or?”
You glared, feeling the shadows riled up by the second, you back up away from Vox. “No. This is strictly business. I hope we don’t see each other after this.”
“Hot and feisty. I like that in a demon. Let’s see how you’re at persuasion.” He turned to the lift and gestures for you to follow him. “Well, come on then, representative.”
Throughout the entire time Vox was bringing you to the ‘meeting room’, he had been so annoying with his small talk. There were a few times he tried hypnotizing you already but you acted like nothing happened, it was fun to see him try
You declined any drinks and food he offered, he set them on the coffee table between the two couches you two were sitting on. This setting was quite perfect for him to try a more direct hypnotizes, even if you were to accuse him of so, he can say it was a glitch in the system or it’s just his screen acting up
Everything was set to give himself the advantage he needs and wants
As expected the only thing he had against the hotel and Charlie was the fact that his merchandise were all destroyed without his knowledge. Though he even come clean as to why he would be aware of they were gone or not, he lied and said it was to ensure his services were top-notch and that he could send his employees to repair or replace them with new ones
Why he was doing this was to show his appreciation to the epic battle Charlie and the hotel put up. To defend all of Hell and the other sinners even when no one asked, to give everyone hope that there was good in this hellhole. It moved Vox’s metallic heart beyond words
Such flattery. You know information that Vox tried to watch the battle, you panicked when you wonder if Vox saw your powers when you defended and saved Alastor. It doesn’t seem like he knows by the annoyance and degree he went to ensure the hotel was under surveillance. He’s finding that one demon that interrupted his show. He’s looking for you
To compensate, the hotel is to either send someone to work for Vox, of course without a soul contract but a business deal only, or give them Angel. What it means was that Angel was to stay at the V Tower for as long as it take for him to individually produce all the cost of the materials used to make the devices Vox installed in the hotel
It was basically a contract that would ensure that Angel doesn’t get redeemed, stays under the Vees’ or rather Valentino’s hold, and continues to bring profit or even more to the three Overlords. You heard that Angel’s boss was Valentino, you also heard about the little stunt Angel did to his boss outside of the studio. Valentino sworn revenge. This was it
When you weren’t agreeing immediately, you were in for a shock when Valentino and Angel appeared through the doors. They took a seat in the couch between yours and Vox’s, Angel forcefully gapped between Vox and Valentino so that if anything happened, they’d have a hostage. Because unlike them, the hotel and its people are oh so very kind
“Angel here volunteers to work on top of our contract on this little mishap.” Valentino grinned, playing with his pipe as he released a puff of red smoke. “Angel came all on his own too.”
“Then why isn’t he speaking on his own?” You challenged, it’d take a blind person to ignore the nervousness and uneasiness Angel was displaying. From what you observed, Angel truly likes it at the hotel. He wouldn’t willingly leave it and everyone. “Why are you speaking in his place?”
Vox raised a hand, answering as if it was all rehearsed. “Val is Angel’s boss, so it only makes sense he speaks on Angel’s behalf on something so important.”
Your eyes narrowed, “You got it backwards. On matters as important as this, the one directly involved should be the one talking.” You glared at Valentino, “Not to be spoken on behalf by.”
Vox laughed, “You forget. You’re at our mercy now, we don’t need to care for your wants.” He got up and strolled over to you, “You know, you’re quite talented. We could use someone like you here. If you agree to take Angel’s place, then Angel can go free from this deal. I’m sure with your talent, you can make up that number in no time.”
“That wasn’t what you offered.” You hissed, you could feel Alastor growing rage as well.
“Oh, need more incentive?” Vox smirked.
The moment he said that, the doors opened and revealed Velvette though it was what was dragged behind that caught you off guard. Husk, all beaten up and bantered, was being pulled into the room by some hellhounds that was in servitude to Velvette, or maybe the Vees.
Velvette gave a cunning grin, “You called?”
This was obviously a bad situation. Two hostages and three Overlords, one of them were in the worse pairing possible as well. This was all a trap
There was a high possibility that Angel didn’t want to answer Valentino’s calls and was dragged to the V Tower where he’s be powerless. Husk most possibly saw what happened and tried to stop it since you were going to the same place later on
In the end, two were caught and used as leverage to convince you into servitude of Vox. Maybe you shouldn’t have came, but you didn’t want them to get hypnotized again and this was their domain so Vox holds more power here
You’ll admit, you’re cornered. Do you call for Alastor? But Alastor couldn’t care less about Angel or Husk went you were on the line. He’d even agree with the deal Vox offered just because you would be out of harm’s way. You just know Alastor will do that. While he cares for your decision, but when it was your time away from him on the line, he’ll do anything to keep you within his hold
In that case, you’re left with one option
“You want compensation for your broken devices, yeah, I can handle it. But I will not be working here.” You spoke firmly, “The hotel has a 16 floors, each floor has around 10 rooms, each room has a VoxTech TV and a pair of speakers that were installed, in total that’s 160 TVs and 320 speakers. The lobby has a large screen made of 6 TVs and 8 pairs of speakers to provide high quality sound transperance, the top floor has a cinema that is made with 10 TVs and 10 pairs of speakers aligning the walls.”
As you were listing, everyone was surprised with how well you knew everything. Especially Angel and Husk since you were rarely out of your room or around. How you knew all this was a mystery to them.
“So in total, you require the compensation of 176 TVs and 356 speakers. I can provide all of them back to you in the newest condition, but I will not be working here.” You concluded.
“Wow, crazy math, but how can we be sure you can give us high quality goods?” Vox questioned, “We can’t trust that you’ll leave us high and dry after we agree. You can even give us cheap knockouts like some copycat off the streets.”
You opened your hand, “Give me something, anything.”
The Vees all looked at each other, then Valentino passed a gun of his to you. They eyed you suspicously while you plainly inspected the object, Angel and Husk watched in confusion of what you were doing
You ignored all the stared. This was your last result. You’ll show them your power and ability with a page, they wouldn’t know how you did it and they wouldn’t be able to control you since you have Alastor’s protection and you could always put Lucifer on the table. They wouldn’t dare touch a servant of the King of Hell
Your fingers brushed through the curves and texture, feeling where the edges were and how they felt. Then you began taking it apart. Vox kept Valentino in place when you began, Vox keeping an extra close eye on what you were doing. You laid out the parts in front of you, then you inspected each part like how you did to the gun as a whole
When you were done, you reassembled it all. You quickly aimed a shot into the wall behind you so they wouldn’t say you attempted assassination to add compensation. You got the gist of what was used to make it and how it was made. You remember the parts and you remember how to assemble and take it apart. The conditions are set. You can do it
You moved away your oversized coat and took out your book, writing the words ‘Valentino’s gun’ on the page before tearing it out and blew on it. Then in your hand appeared the exact same. You gave to Valentino to inspect them
He was surprised his gun was replicated to perfection. He didn’t mean to say it since he was shocked and covered his mouth
That’s all you need to hear. You took Angel and Husk to your side, telling Vox, without giving him the room to deject your offer. You will reproduce those TVs and speakers, Vox just need to wait patiently and you can have it done within a few days. Someone will come delivery them. End of story
“It’s you! Hahahaha! So it’s you all along!” Vox laughed, falling back down into the couch, “You win this! So you’re not bad at persuasion too.” He grinned, “Now I really like you.”
“Well, I still don’t like you.” You snarled.
“Playing hard to get, huh.” He waved his hand, “Sure, I’ll wait and see. If it’s not delivered in time, I’ll expect you to work for me.”
As quickly as you came to the bright studio that blinds your eyes, you left with Angel and Husk hand in hand just in case they tried something. The moment you were out of the building, Alastor reappeared and hugged the living daylights out of you, you returned the hug, melting into his hold
It was such a scary experience, but you know you got through it because Alastor was watching and listening all that time to support you
Alastor sent Husk and Angel back through the shadows to retell the message of a smooth negotiation and nothing else. They were to have the cover story of meeting you and Alastor on the way back and to pass the message along while the two of you enjoyed a stroll for the hardwork. Needless to say they agreed easily to that plan
You walked with Alastor arm in arm, leaning against him for a more physical support. You closed your eyes to rest a bit since it was way too bright in the studio and you trust Alastor enough to lead you on the right and safe path
Being the radio host he is, he talked and talked about anything and everything he could to fill the silence and give you the perfect voice to listen to. At the sight of Alastor, a number of demons left the area and stayed clear of him
Everything was very peaceful, just you and him strolling down the streets. It reminded the two of you during those days when you both were in your home area. You’d sometimes want to just stretch your legs and walk around. Alastor would accompany you to keep you safe
In the beginning, it was just you and your music while Alastor was busy with whatever bloody methods to keep the demons’ eyes off of you. Then you and Alastor made small talk so Alastor’s attention wasn’t on destroying some poor demon that was minding their own business. Turns out, that was one of moments that got you to see another side of Alastor
You smiled as you hugged onto Alastor’s arm, you felt Alastor’s miniature jerk before he relaxed again. You really wanted to tickle him, but you’ll save it for when you two are back behind closed doors to have more fun
“You! You in the giant stupid coat! Stop!” A voice shouted behind you and Alastor.
Alastor looked down to you, you nodded as you opened your eyes again. Alastor turned around, shielding you from the unknown demon’s sight. “What is it that you need from us?”
“I’m not talking to you, f**ker!” The demon exclaimed at Alastor, “Move aside or else.”
“Else?” Alastor’s head tilted to the side with his smile growing to a threatening grin, “Quite bold of you to assume you have a chance here.”
You peeked from behind Alastor, this demon was unfamiliar to you, not someone you messed with nor did you gather information on them for anything in discriminating. You wonder if you should let Alastor have at her since you already dealt with Vox today. But something bugged you with how desperate she was acting, very familiar. So you stepped out, “What is it?”
Her eyes seemingly light up and came over to you, gripping onto your shoulders tightly with that crazed look in her eyes. “You’re the one he wants. It was never me. Whatever he wants with you has nothing to do with me. It was all a lie. The contract, the flattery, the money, everything!”
“Huh?” You glanced over to Alastor with confusion, Alastor didn’t return the sentiment as he looked ready to rip the demon apart. “Uh, what do you mean?”
“I saw your powers over the pages, you’re the one he wants! I don’t know how we have similar powers, but yours is much more superior. Trade places with me, I’m begging! I can’t work for Vox!”
You backed up and slapped away her hands, retreating back to Alastor’s side. “Similar powers?”
You wondered if it was her, that friend of yours. You watched she continued to rant on about the benefits of working for Vox like she prepared to pitch it to a customer. This desperate plead was like her asking (demanding) that you continue writing that novel she stole so she can go publish it in her name
Do it in the name of friendship, she said. It started small, she asked for some tips to writing, it moved to asking for character reference sheets, then ideas on a sequel, last was your help to write the entire thing
She knew you have written it beforehand, she was aiming for that in the beginning. Again, she stole it while you were distracted with setting up a sleepover for her. You remember that empty look you had when you saw the barely closed front door, the pillow you were hugging fell from your grasp
The next week or so, the sequel to her (your) novel was out. Millions and billions of people flooded the bookshops, mass sell out signs for that book was taped to the display for the novel. She came back and praised you for a job well done, you hanged out with you and shared so much with you
All that time, you smiled and enjoyed the peace. Anything to help a friend, you innocently spoke. After all, she was there for you when you broke up with your boyfriend. She was your closest friend, things like these happen. See? She’s back at your side
She appeared on TV, she appeared on podcast, she appeared in interviews, she appeared in best selling author signing sessions, she appeared as a professor to teach young aspiring writers. She was everywhere. That was because the novel was everywhere, it was adatped into movies, TV shows, cartoon series, it has audiobooks and was references in a number of places
People loved your work. You were content with that. It was fine. As long as your friend is by your side. You can take it all. Yet you can’t help it when tears flow down your face in the dead of night. You hugged your pillow so tightly
It was all supposed to be yours, yet it wasn’t… You gave it all up to someone that’s not worthy of it
“See?” She threw a bunch of papers into the air from her side bag, with a snap of her fingers, the pages turned into paper daggers and flew around her at command. “If you can summon things, then you’re a such better fit! Please, come back with me to the V Tower and take my place.”
“Shut up.” You spoke, your hands unconsciously gripped onto Alastor’s wrist tightly that it could have snapped. Reacting to your obvious hatred, Alastor snapped his fingers and fires burn down the pages that she was so proud of. “Ha, I can’t believe you haven’t changed.”
She raised a brow, “What?”
You sighed, “Karolina, so you died, huh. Did you have a good life? Must be good as the famous author, right?”
Kat’s eyes widened, now it was her turn to back up, “No way… You can’t be serious…”
“Dearest, do you know her?” Alastor inquired with a cute head tilt, his ears moving along.
“Yeah, I know her.” You smiled, you know what will happen after your words because you know Alastor, “Meet Karoline, my former best friend while I was alive, but most importantly… The one that stole my precious writing.”

Note: Another one~ There's one more part to this and the involvement of Kat arc is done. I think I might end this series after that. The unanswered questions could be counted as trivia or extra mini moments. Cause I feel like this series is getting a bit too long. What do you guys think?

lifemate (Chapter 1/ Sakusa x f!reader)
Tumblr media
summary: how did it all start? word count. 1.9k cw. marriage pact au, potential mature content a/n. this is my first time writing fic! hope you all enjoy this story! (♡ n pls let me know if you do enjoy them ♡) Masterlist
Every month, Motoya Komori, Sakusa Kiyoomi, and you meet up to catch up and enjoy each other's company. Surprisingly, despite the passage of time and the changes in your lives, you have managed to maintain your friendship well since high school. Your bond remains strong, bolstered by frequent chats in your group chat, where you exchange life updates.
Now you’re all in your late 20s, with you and Sakusa the same age, 27 years old, and Motoya a year older. Each of you is navigating your own unique path in life. Motoya Komori, always the cheerful one, shares his latest thoughts and plans. "Nothing much," he says with a grin, "just thinking about coaching some kids in my block." Then, he adds, "Mia thinks that’s a good idea too," his eyes light up when he talks about his wife, his smile widening. It's been a year since their wedding, and he’s never been happier. He met his wife during an open trip to Europe in his early 20s, a serendipitous encounter that changed his life forever.
Sakusa, on the other hand, often brings up his ongoing struggle with his fame. "I keep trying to decline gifts from fans," he admits, a hint of frustration in his voice. Despite his attempts to maintain some semblance of normalcy, his popularity often complicates things.
It’s no wonder you think that Kiyoomi is popular among women. A single, talented man who looks dedicated to his career is bound to attract attention. People on the internet often compliment his looks too. Standing at 6’4” with a lean build, his black wavy hair adds to his appeal. You can imagine his struggle a bit—balancing his demanding career with the expectations and attention from fans and potential romantic interests alike.
As for you, you share your own challenges of juggling your main job with multiple side jobs. It’s a constant balancing act, trying to manage everything without letting anything fall through the cracks. Yet, despite the hectic schedule, you find solace in these monthly meet-ups, a reminder of the enduring friendship that has weathered the storms of life.
“Why do you have to do several jobs?” Komori asks, a hint of worry in his voice.
You chuckle lightly and start explaining the reality of life outside the athletic world. “Well, life actually works a bit differently for non-athletes,” you say with a smile, trying to lighten the mood. You go on to explain that you're still early in your career, and your current job is only a mid-paying one. “I need some more money to cover my living costs and to send some to my retiring parents,” you add, your tone growing more serious.
Komori listens intently, nodding in understanding. He realizes that while his career path as a professional athlete offers certain financial stability and perks, your situation requires juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet and support your family.
Komori agrees with your statement about the high living costs, even for him. You continue, “Well, now that I think about it, in this economy, for average people, I think marriage helps a lot in a financial way. I mean, by having two incomes in the household. If we didn’t put children into the equation, though, maybe.”
Komori agrees, “Well, maybe that’s true. But I don’t know much about that since my wife stays at home. But financials aside, having someone to come home to… I don’t know how to put it. But it’s less lonely and, y’know? Feels like someone always has my back no matter what.”
Sakusa interjects, “But you don’t have to get married, you know? You can just move in with your girlfriend.”
Komori shakes his head, “I don’t know, man. It’s a different sense of security.”
You chime in, “Ooh, I get it. Maybe it’s kinda like… all these paperwork you sign? So, it feels verrrry official?” You raise your eyebrow, prompting Komori to laugh.
“Maybe? I don’t know. I’m just happy and secure. That’s all I feel,” he says with a contented smile.
You sigh and slam your hand on the table, “Man, I don’t even think about that. I just think it’s nice to split rent and chores with someone.”
Komori hums at your statement, then turns to Sakusa. “What do you think, Omi?”
Sakusa shrugs, “I just think being married makes it more convenient for me to politely decline some of the persistent and creepy fans.”
You chuckle, “Ha. Ha. Okayyy starboy. Totally not relatable.”
Komori adds thoughtfully, “Hey, in a sense, that applies to you as well in terms of being more secure when walking at night. Ward off some creepy men, y’know?”
You nod, a wry smile on your face, “Hey! That’s so fucking true. Pfft, I hate the world that we live in.” You sip on your drink, finding a moment of solidarity in the shared laughter and understanding.
“Okay. Now this conversation made me want to get married. But I can’t even afford a relationship right now. Trying to start a relationship is too urgh,” you say, scrunching your nose. “Too many steps to deal with. And don’t even talk about the emotional roller coaster! It’s just too tiring!”
You used to be a hopeless romantic at heart, dreaming of the day you would meet that one person, your prince charming. Falling in love so hard that your head feels dizzy, experiencing all those cute butterflies in your stomach, and seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses due to the happiness of love.
However, the idea seems more and more impossible as you grow older. Reality has hit you hard. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but you’ve never been lucky in your romantic life. It’s not like no one wants you; there are men who approach you. But the ones who do either don’t meet your standards or turn out to be douchebags when you try to get to know them better and pursue more, leading to frustrating situationships. It’s exhausting to be attached to them and constantly ride an emotional roller coaster.
Moreover, you can’t think of anyone or any way to meet someone new at the moment. You’re not keen on the idea of dating apps either, as you feel like you’re not that fun in chat, and it just feels too unnatural to meet someone new that way. Especially a potential lover. Damn all these standards you’ve set for yourself!
Sakusa speaks up, “I get that, and I don’t understand what girls want either.” Sakusa doesn’t usually talk much during your discussions, but he enjoys listening to you and Komori's thoughts. Right now, he finds himself agreeing with you on the topic. Everyone knows that Sakusa isn’t the most socially adept person. He doesn’t easily make new friends, despite knowing many people from all the training, practices, and matches he has been involved in. However, he can't exactly call them friends. That's why he treasures this friend group, even though one of its members is literally his cousin. It’s something he can describe as “cousins by blood but friends by choice.”
Given this, it’s not hard to understand why it’s not easy for him to have a romantic relationship either. He can be attracted to someone—he experienced it several times during his school days, having little “relationships” that lasted only a few months. But these days, it’s getting harder to form meaningful connections. Lots of girls try to approach him, fans and acquaintances alike. Some have piqued his interest, but nothing has gone beyond a few dates. So, he truly gets it when you say it’s tiring.
“What?! So you don’t understand me?” you exclaim.
Sakusa rolls his eyes. “No, I understand you. It’s different. We’ve known each other since high school.”
“Ha. Right,” you reply with a hint of sarcasm.
Komori is silent, looking at both of you intently. He clears his throat, “Hey, you know, right? There’s something called platonic marriage?”
Sakusa stares blankly. “What’s that?”
“I know!” you chime in. “It’s like you’re married, but you’re not actually involved romantically.”
“Oh. I’ve heard of them. Interesting, I guess,” Sakusa responds.
“Yeah. It’s like you can get the marriage benefits without having to deal with all the emotional roller coasters that relationships give you,” you explain.
“True. But it’s too creepy and risky, right? To marry some random strangers?” Komori folds his arms and laughs.
You give a distasteful expression and respond quickly, “Of course! I wouldn’t dream of it. If I ever wanted to do a platonic marriage, it would be with someone that I know quite well.”
The three of you suddenly become silent. Komori smirks at you and Sakusa.
“What are you even implying?!” you demand.
“Hey! It’s not crazy, though! You mentioned it yourself.” He makes quotation marks with his fingers. “It would be with someone that I know quite well.”
You widen your eyes. He’s right, you think. But still, it’s borderline crazy and something that never crossed your mind. Sakusa? And you?! Sure, you think he looks good. But then again, you’ve never considered any of your friends ugly! Moreover, you’ve always seen him as your friend since the beginning. Which… is actually the definition of platonic. It’s perfect! Shit… But Sakusa would never agree with this kind of thing… right?
You steal glances at him. Fuck. He actually looks like he’s thinking about it. It’s not the usual indifferent face he’s making. He’s thinking. Wow. Years of friendship really do give you the ability to differentiate his micro-expressions.
“Look. It’s just… an idea. A good idea, can I say?” Komori wiggles his eyebrows and smiles proudly. “Given you guys’ predicaments. It’s like the stars aligned, y’know? I’ll definitely support you guys. There. You guys have my blessing,” he laughs.
You and Sakusa exchange quick glances. He shows a lack of repulsiveness. Now that you think about it, this thing actually fits him. But does he really think it is a good idea?
“Some friends do make marriage pacts or whatever it’s called,” Komori adds.
Oh, right. You definitely have heard about that. Something like if we’re not married by the age of… we should marry each other.
“Yeah, I think I’ve heard something like that. But isn’t it complicated?” you ask.
“What would be complicated? It’s all for convenience, right?” Komori replies.
“That’s just insane, though…” you mutter.
You all go silent for a bit but then you try to change the topic and continue to talk about other trivial life updates. Other things that aren’t awkward and, again, crazy to think about. Your mind isn’t ready to handle the full visualization, especially with Sakusa right in front of you.
After another hour, you and the other two decide to head home. You still have to work tomorrow, after all. Urgh, the work thoughts on Sunday are the worst. These meet-ups with Sakusa and Komori always prove to be very recharging to your mental battery. You’re so glad to have this monthly meet-up with your two precious friends.
On your way home, you replay the conversation you had earlier about the platonic marriage and can’t help but think of how good of an idea it is. The words “financial” and “someone to come home to” ring in your head. Shit. You do often feel lonely in your apartment nowadays.
If you ever agree to do something like a platonic marriage, the idea of being married to Omi doesn’t sound bad at all. Your very dear friend since high school. Someone you’ve known for more than 10 years. Someone who knows your antics and vice versa. He can be a pain in the ass a lot of times, insensitive at times. But the good thing is that you can be blunt with him. He might be an ass, but he does always listen whenever you scold him for anything insensitive he does.
But anyway, it’s just an idea. It will be forgotten, right?
Spoiler: No, it’s not.

hey, im a young nz artist too and i like making comics/want to do something bigger when im older, and i think your stuff is genuinely so fucking cool. i love it so much. i was wondering how you pursued art after highschool, like did you go to art school? if so, where and what was that like, and if not, how’d you find the time to continue doing it? its always felt like my opportunities for a career in art specifically seem smaller living in nz, but idk your stuff inspires me to think otherwise. thank you :)
kia ora!!
thanks so much for asking, it's truly so flattering that a young nz artist would ask me for advice! <3 sadly i might not necessarily be the best person to ask...
First of all, it's been a loooooong time since i've been a young artist hahaha I'm 32. After high school, I studied architecture at university because, as you're probably aware, we don't really have art schools like our peers do overseas. But after studying for a few years, I had a major depressive episode and dropped out. After that, I ran away to Korea to teach english for a year before coming back to work in cafes for about 6 years. Back then I was pursuing a career in editorial illustration cause that's what all my favourite artists were doing but I didn't realise that it was a dying industry at the time and there weren't exactly lot of full-time professional artists here who could have warned me...
So after about 10 years of trying to piece together some kind of profession in illustration, I ended up looking for a tattoo apprenticeship which was looking pretty promising but my bosses turned out to be not-so-great people. I tried to keep tattooing on my own but that was around the time COVID hit which wasn't (and still isn't) great for a job that requires you meet face-to-face with a lot of people. So, since the pandemic began, I've just been subsisting off of jobseeker, chipping away at comics and the occasional illustration gig.
The whole experience had me perpetually burnt out for the past ~15 years and made me realise that art as a career really just shouldn't be a thing. Under capitalism, it requires either an embarrassing level of compromise, privilege or luck to pursue. All the household-name artists you know in NZ either come from privilege or got unbelievably lucky. I don't say this as a value judgment or anything, most of them are truly wonderful people, it's just what I've learned about them as colleagues who've worked together a few times over the years.
I don't fault anyone for wanting to pursue that, but if you want to make uncompromising art that makes you feel fulfilled, you can't stake your livelihood on it. Art is supposed to be a by-product of life well lived, not content to be sold.
It's why I'm making plans to go back to uni next year to switch careers into a cushy office job because, as you've observed, even if you still want to pursue this as a full-time career, opportunities for artists in Aotearoa is extremely limited.
Having said all that, there's still a lot of nuance to this whole thing that would take me too long to cover in a tumblr post, so if you'd like me to elaborate or anything or have more questions, you're more than welcome to contact me through my email: [email protected]!
And this offer extends to literally anyone who might be looking for advice or just wants to talk about art <3
Final thing: the thought of studying something else at college/ university and keeping your art as a hobby might sound bleak when you're young, but life is so much longer than you think. You might feel like you have limitless creativity and ideas at the moment but when it becomes your entire life, you burn through it all faster than you'd think. It's because you need fuel to inform what you make and you can't get that from just making art. Like I always say, art is a by-product of a life well lived; You need life-experiences; You need to love, hate, care, be hated and loved to make art and you can't do that if you're too busy to do any of that. Those 3 years you spend on a bachelors is nothing in comparison to a lifetime of staring at a blank page, agonizing over what to make next.

Thinking about College AU Terzomega....
CW - Teacher/Student, all are consenting adults!!
Terzo is one of the few Emeritus siblings that works at the college. Theater and theater make-up! Very big in the arts studio and occasionally drops by the other departments where his siblings are. Omega, a senior getting his medical degree, two very different departments that only met as he was staying after in one of professor Primo's class to finish a test he was absent for when Terzo showed up.
Hearing him babble on about his own students, something about a new pallet destroyed. Omega just... Can't help but keep looking up at him, locking eyes one too many times. Omega finishing up his test and turning it in, smiling and thanking both professors and leaving, only for Terzo to follow him after.
"Hopefully he's not pulling your leg too much, hm?"
"Oh, uhm, no, Sir."
Terzo just babbling before finally turning, offering a card. "There's auditions happening in a couple weeks for The Glass Menagerie. You should consider it." Eyes him a little bit. "Hope to see you soon."
Omega just flushes a bit, watching him walk the opposite way, eyeing the card again. He just glances at the card before continuing on his way. For DAYS he's staring at the card, so glossy in black and gold, eyeing the number on it just as much. He's much, much too busy to really do this. He has tests bi-weekly, classes nonstop... But, why not? Give himself an outlet like he's been needing. Never been a theater kid, so why not a theater adult?
Calling the number, and it's picked up fairly quickly. "I-I was interested... About the auditions?"
Asked to meet in a few days, and eventually Omega is sitting awkwardly across from him. Terzo scrolling through his academics before agreeing, looking at Omega a bit more before reaching into his desk and pulling out a script for Jim.
"Just try it! Couldn't hurt."
Oh.
Oh he's terrible. Terzo listening with an eyebrow raised before reaching back in his desk and offering stagehand sign-ups.
"That bad, huh?"
"Oh, very much so. But I admire it! You gave it a try, so that's what important."
Omega laughs a bit and nods, reading over the new sign-ups, talking a bit back and forth but he can't help with his cheeks getting red as they keep talking. Terzo leans over some, smiling, head tilted.
"Would you like to get some coffee? We can discuss more about the responsibilities later, as I have some more people to go through today."
There's a bit of a blank stare before a nod, and personal numbers exchanged. When they meet, it's a bit awkward, but Terzo stays true to his word! Explaining each requirement, each job and his responsibilities.
"Heavy lifting will be required, of course... But someone of your stature?" Looks him up and down and Omega IMMEDIATELY goes red. "You'll be just fine."
It's not too bad, actually! Omega enjoys moving props, assisting the actors and getting to watch behind the scenes. Coffee meetings continue, and before Omega knows it, there's something else there. Something warm and comfortable. All it takes is him reaching forwards for a cautious hand hold after a few months.
There's a pre-performance party a week before the show, and Terzo is there just as bar patron but happily indulging with his class. Omega's never been one to bury himself in alcohol, but his nerves keep rising from classes and let alone the fact he's SO close to his new boyfriend who's also their professor... In front of everyone. It's embarrassing!
Wanna know what's kinda more embarrassing? Drunk rambling to your professor how much he's made you happy and you want to keep going.
What's even more embarrassing? Waking up in his bed.
Terzo settled so comfortably on his chest, Omega just staring at the ceiling as he tries to figure out what to do. He, eventually, settles on holding Terzo tighter, burying his face in dark hair and agreeing that the situation is a thing for not-hungover him to deal with. He just wants to spend time with his secret lover for a bit.

Hi Jen. Would you mind giving relationship advice?
I have been in a relationship for almost a decade. She didn’t have a job when we first got together, but she previously had a part time job so I thought that she was mostly just between jobs. As we’ve stayed together, she still hasn’t got a job despite me asking and begging her to. She has some issues so it’s kind of understandable but it increasingly stresses me out.
I’m staying with her and her mom (can’t afford a place on my own and have 0 family due to homophobia). I love her but I feel like she doesn’t love me or she would get a job. It’s literally the only thing that I want her to do and she’ll be super sweet and a chivalrous butch. But she just won’t get a job and feels incapable. When I feel like we’re doing kind of okay financially I don’t mind. But other times I feel really taken advantage of, unloved, resentful, hurt, and confused. I think I’ve enabled the behavior too long and she’s never going to change but I literally can’t afford to up the ante and give an ultimatum since everything requires dual income right now. (I just wish the dual income was mine and hers rather than mine and her mom’s). It’s also upsetting because I feel like she doesn’t care enough about her mom either. I feel like the one time I brought that up, she did kind of consider trying for a part time job (more seriously than ever before) which is more than she’s ever done for me. So I feel very unloved to say the least.
I’ve tried communicating and feel at a loss.
I am going to answer this from 17 years of experience. My wife quit her job within a year of us getting together and was in and out of a few jobs but would sooner or late come home and say things like "This job is really stressing me out and It is making me feel sick can I quit? Will we be okay if I quit". I loved her so I, trying to be the supportive wife, would always say "yes, of course, there are other jobs" but knowing full well she might go months without looking or applying for jobs.
Once we became parents she took that opportunity to be a "stay at home mom" but the problem was she didn't clean or do paper work or even want to take them to appointment or do homework. SO i worked two jobs and dealt with the household management for most of the time we were foster parents. IT was terribly stressful and looking back I realize we would not have been constantly financially struggling if she would have just worked an average full time job.
The only thing that drove her to get a full time job was when we separated and she knew the relationship was ending. I STILL ended up partially supporting her until she was able to meet someone new and share living expenses.
In 17 years she did not change. Your girlfriend is not going to change and you need to decide if you want to consistently struggle to support two people on one wage OR just support yourself on one wage. My advice is to decide if you love her enough to give up a chance at financial sustainability. I know you are kind of "stuck" right now. Start to plan ahead. DO not give her any money. IF she asks it all went to other bills and there is none to share. You should stop buying food, nights out and gas. Pay only her mom or ask to take on particular bills and pay them yourself so you know the money is getting to things like water or electric.
It sounds like her mom relies on you as much as you rely on her for help to keep the house/apartment. Use that to you advantage. It is easier said that done but if you want to offer a solutions by where you all stay in the house start a budget sheet listing the house and shared expenses. Divide it by 3 and present that number to your girlfriend. Pay only your 1/3 of the expenses.
If you don't feel like you can do that it is understandable. I would make an exit plan and stick too it. Don't spend the rest of your life with not stability or financial security and working yourself to death in the process. You don't owe her that. Make a savings account, start to look around for roommates at your job or in friend groups. It feels terrible to be sneaking around and making break up plans long before it is feasible for you to break up but you might have to in order to keep yourself safe.
It is possible that you can break it off with her and continue to "rent" from her mom. It sounds like your GF has little respect and no empathy for you and the fact that you are working so hard all the time when she does nothing. Perhaps she only loves what you can give her not you as a person. I hate to even say it but either way, you deserve to be happy and secure and she is preventing both of those things from happening.
She won't change so it is up to you to change your situation.

After the Battle (Commission)
My first commission! Thanks to @denim-lich for checking me out, I had a great time writing about your bard fella and their vampire bf :]
Commissions are still open if anyone is interested!
Word count: 1017
“This is…utterly ridiculous.”
“Well, perhaps if you held still, I could finish quicker!”
“I could very well handle this myself, you know.”
“You want me to stop?”
Astarion glanced over Barry, a grumpy look still on the vampire’s face. The party had just dealt with a particularly tough and rowdy gang of bugbears, and all of them were thoroughly exhausted. Seeing as it was so close to nightfall already, they set up camp in a secluded part of the woods for a well-needed rest. Despite the challenge, all of them got out fairly unscathed, with Barry not even having a scratch. Astarion, however, was probably the worst for wear, which one may say was his own fault.
Barry raised an eyebrow at their partner, who simply made a huffy exhale and glanced away once more. “That’s what I thought,” it remarked, going back to his wounds. They weren’t anything too severe, but for their past encounter, it was rather notable. Some horrible gashes along his arm, a shallow pierce in his chest; nothing that required healing magic, just a small patch up job. Despite that, Astarion wasn’t exactly being the most co-operative patient.
“Why did ya even go and do something stupid like that?” Barry sighed, as they grabbed some more bandages. “I had everything under control with the three guys I was taking.”
“Oh? Oh, I’m sorry,” Astarion scoffed, chuckling almost. “I was simply, as they say, covering your behind? Making sure our lovely party leader did not meet an untimely end to a slippery assassin trying to skewer you with a spear? Is that so wrong? Should I apologize for saving your life?”
Barry grumbled under their breath. True, they were rather occupied with three rather tough bugbears, but it’s not like they had dealt with worse before. It was also true that they did not see the assassin sneaking up from behind, and they likely would have suffered some wounds had Astarion not intervened.
“Okay, sure, but you did not have to do it as you did,” it countered. “You could have zapped them or something. You were dealing with two guys yourself, you didn’t have time to leap over to my aid personally. I worry you may have gotten hurt more had Karlach not come around swinging with her axe.”
Astarion shrugged. “Helpful as her blade was, I still ended up nicked,” he remarked, lifting his other arm and turning it over, revealing some additional still-fresh cuts.
“AH—for the sake of the gods, Astarion!” Barry huffed. “When were you gonna tell me about that!?”
“You were already dealing with this one arm. I could handle this one after you were done with this.”
“Like hell you are! Give me that…!”
A few minutes later, and both of the vampire’s arms were heavily medicated and wrapped up. A small slip of bandage was also placed on his cheek, where Barry had noticed a small cut. “See? Doesn’t that all feel better?” They offered, smiling.
Astarion grumbled something under his breath. “...I suppose. Even if I would have done better myself…you did a good job, my love.”
Barry beamed. “Glad I could help. Getting late, though. Think it’s about time we turn in.” They blushed a tad. “You still feel up to snuggling?”
Astarion blinked, and then raised an eyebrow at it. “What an inane question…after everything I had done today for you, risked life and limb, you think I would choose not to take you to sleep with me? How moronic.” He rolled his eyes, yet extended an arm. “Of course I do. Come on, now.”
Barry laughed, and leapt into the vampire’s arms, though they took a minute to dress down comfortably and get up under the covers. The night had just the slightest cool to it, so the two nestled close together under the blankets, arms around each other while Barry’s head rested on their lover’s chest.
For the moment, the two simply laid in silence, enjoying the close presence of one another, before Astarion spoke up. “I take it you expect some form of apology for today, hm?”
“Eh, it’s not a big deal, really,” Barry shrugged.
“No, no. It is. For me, of course,” he went on, in his naturally pompous way. “I was foolish, leaving myself much to open. The heat of battle, it makes one act irrational. My mind wasn’t clear. All I saw was…that assassin, and the way they were gunning…for you.”
His voice grew softer, a tad hushed, as Barry looked on.
“I simply…it’s a matter of being aware. Had there been any more, any poison present, any number of factors really…it could have been curtains for one of us. Or both. These,” he lifted up one of his bandaged arms, “were simply warnings. Wake up calls. Signs that we are not as strong as we think we are. Dear…for my own sake, we both must grow stronger. Do you swear to me you will do that, as I will as well, for myself?”
The bard blinked, before smiling softly. There were times they wondered if this was simply how Astarion always was, even when no one was looking or when talking to himself. Always grandiose and dramatic, a bit self absorbed. Yet even then, the way he spoke alone, like this, the double meaning was clear. In a way, as far as their party members would argue, he hasn’t changed much since joining them, but from Barry’s own experience, he’s changed very much so, and for the better.
“Of course, my star. For you, I will become the strongest I can be,” they told him, before gently leaning in for a soft, quick kiss on his lips. “Just as long as you do the same, ya know.” They chuckled, playfully tapping him on the nose.
“Hmph. Naturally. Just make sure to keep up,” Astarion chuckled himself, and the two snuggled back up together.
Silence once again overcame them…
“I also accept your apology.”
“Oh, thank the gods. That would have kept me up through the night.”
…until both slowly fell asleep in each other’s arms.

An Inquiry Into The Perfection Of Systems
(Or, Kevin Flynn is actually the worst and Clu never stood a chance)
So, this is a post about business analysis/project management, sort of. It is also, mostly… about Tron: Legacy. Hold onto your seats, we’re going to talk about IT project management.
Tumblr media
Watch me.
Developing software and managing a software development project require surprisingly different skillsets. While intrinsically connected, Computer Logic and People Logic are not at all the same sort of logic. There is no better way to observe this than by putting developers in charge of managing a development project. (Looking at you, Flynn.)
Tumblr media
I see you, Kevin Flynn.
There are a couple questions you have to answer in the process of a dev project. They are very common sense questions, like…
When will we call it done?
What does “done” mean?
How do we assess the quality of the result?
As is usually the case when common sense meets computers, the answer is more complicated than the question, to the point that a great many books and papers have been written on the subject. (1)
Tumblr media
Does this look like a man who reads Project Management books? No.
Which brings me to a number of useful concepts: Definition of Done, Fit For Use, and Fit For Purpose. The terms may be more recent, but their spirit most definitely isn’t.
Definition of Done is what is says on the tin. It is formally defining what it means for an IT feature to be fully finished: what does it need to do, what does it need to look like, what quality standards does it need to meet, etcetera. This is not the place to be vague: you want concrete, measurable goals.
Tumblr media
(Here’s a hint, in case that wasn’t already glaringly obvious: “Perfect” is not a good Definition of Done.)
Now, you can define this “done” in purely hard, technical terms. But typically, software is intended to do something for someone; Computer Logic, meet People Logic. That’s where the “Fit For” terms come in.
Tumblr media
“Fit For Purpose” means, the software does what it was intended to do.
“Fit For Use” means, the software does what it does well enough to be actually usable.
THESE ARE NOT MUTUALLY INCLUSIVE.
But a good system is both.
A “Perfect” system would be both to the highest degree. Ideally suited to the requirements of its Users, in functionality and useability both.
Important here is that these are completely relative concepts, entirely dependent on what the users want out of their software. Regardless of how attainable it'd be, you cannot define “perfect” as a measurable goal without understanding what is required of the system in the first place.
Now… look at the Grid.
Tumblr media
(Yeah. I know.)
The Grid has no users. The Grid has no user-end functionalities. The Grid isn’t set up to do anything, really, in the software sense. It fulfills no obvious function.
It’s a back-end environment accidentally turned front-end.
Which is… Imagine if someone walked into a factory and was like “oh wow I love the vibe of this place!” and then after getting home began setting up their own production lines, but based on vibes and aesthetic, with no regard to production output, worker safety, resource management, or even, you know, the goal of actually making anything.
Now picture being the manager of that factory.
They told you when you got this job that you had to make this the perfect factory.
But the place is falling apart despite your best efforts. People are getting injured left and right. The owner disappears for months on end, and when he shows up he just keeps adding more production lines that look cool to him rather than offering any clarity. The hope that he might have a plan for all of this is dwindling fast. You desperately try to keep track of anything quantifiable, trying not to think about the fact that you still don’t know what you’re even meant to be producing here. (Everything going wrong weighs on you; you were meant to make this perfect. You should have the ability to do what you were meant to do, right?)
And then, for some reason, random unauthorized strangers start walking into the factory breaking shit. And because the owner thinks they’re neat, they get to stay and do whatever, and you should be happy about it.
If this was an actual factory, you could... quit your job.
But this isn't a factory, it's a computer, and you, a piece of software, ARE your job.
Tell me this wouldn't drive you off-the-rails crazy. Like, actually full-on psychotic.
Tumblr media
I know man. I know.
Computer Logic and People Logic are not the same thing. But Programs, being software and people both, have both influencing their experience.
So, was Clu evil? I rather think he never had a chance to be good.
After all, what is good, for a piece of software?
Allow me to refer to my explanations above.
..... ..... .....
(COMPLETELY UNNECCESARY) FOOTNOTES:
(1): One such book that Flynn could have read is “The Mythical Man-Month” by Frederic P. Brooks, which is very good and surprisingly relevant to this day, but I’m only mentioning because when I first heard the title I thought it was a Mothman pun.

“Hey, are you with me? Lotus?”
You felt a flick to your forehead and blinked, focusing on the person sitting across from you. You couldn’t hide that you’d been spacier than usual, your brain was a blender, swirling and liquefying all your thoughts. Between the job with Rokuhara and the announcement Suzaku had made at the division meeting and the fact that Genbu asked for you made your barely recovered head spin even more.
You lightly shook your head. “Sorry, just thinking about stuff.”
Nezumi leaned on the table with his chin in his hand. “Clearly, but honestly I don’t blame you. You’ve kind of been through a lot lately.”
“Something like that,” you laughed weakly. “I’m sorry you’re stuck babysitting me.”
“It’s not a big deal. Suzaku said runners were required to work in pairs for the foreseeable future, and honestly, I don’t mind being paired with the best.” Nezumi flashed a genuine smile and you didn’t know how to respond.
Nobody in your division liked you, or at least that’s what you figured based on the stares and whispers. You didn’t let it get to you and you played into the unlikeable persona because people would leave you alone. Unfortunately, after the incident that left you with a concussion, Suzaku declared that no runner was allowed to do a job alone. Top runners had priority, so it would be you, Nezumi, Shika, and probably-Hato. The four of you naturally gravitated towards each other and decided you’d pair up that way. It was going to be inconvenient though.
“You don’t have to lie to me,” you mumbled, pushing your food around your plate.
Nezumi sighed. “You’re weird,” he said. “But you’re not as bad as you make yourself out to be.”
“But I’m still some degree of bad,” you said, accenting your words with a jab of your fork in his direction.
“We all are,” Nezumi pointed out. “None of us are exactly doing clean work. Anyway, stop being so grumpy. You need friends.”
“And you’re offering?” You raised an eyebrow. “I thought we were just supposed to be discussing our usual jobs and how to make things work with our schedules.”
“Stop dodging the question,” Nezumi said, on the verge of whining. “But yeah, we do need to work out when our runs are happening and any other jobs Suzaku gives us.”
“I make my weekly runs to Kabukicho on Sunday,” you told him. “There’s no set time, except for the guy that owns Byakko’s space. Gotta get to him before 5pm.”
“Noted. I run Ōtemachi and Marunouchi on Wednesdays and Fridays. Both during the day, preferably in the morning.”
You nodded, mapping out the locations in your mind. “I can’t say I’m fond of any time before noon, but I’d rather not get my face beat in again. Either by Suzaku or the other guys.”
Nezumi’s face twisted into something uncomfortable. He rubbed his temples. “Can you have a normal conversation with anyone?”
“Nope!” You grinned. “It’s part of my charm.”
“Right,” Nezumi said flatly. “Charm.”
“I’m sensing sarcasm from you.”
“Hmm, I’ll try harder to mask it next time. Anyway, what’s your current burner number? It would be best if we can get into contact outside of division meetings.” Nezumi held out his own burner phone.
“Huh? Oh yeah sure.” You took it from his hand and punched in the number you had just memorized. It would be changed by the end of the month, since it made it a little harder for the cops to sniff out Wuxing’s trail.
Adding a little ‘<3’ to the end of your contact name, you finally handed the phone back to Nezumi. He looked at it, sighed, and looked at you with dull eyes. You just waved like nothing had transpired. He shook his head and stood. “I’ll get in touch soon,” he promised. He gave you a lazy wave before heading out and you put your head down on the table.
It was going to be a little harder to traipse around with the Haitanis like this, but you’d figure it out. Right now you had more pressing problems, like why the hell Genbu needed to see you. You did your part of the operation and you weren’t important enough to be part of the circle that knew.
You couldn’t even think about why these people were so obsessed with you. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, remarkable about you. You spent the first thirteen years of your life raised in an area where nobody would care if you or your family disappeared. Your father wasn’t in the picture. You didn’t know who he was and your mother refused to talk about him. You quickly learned to stop asking about him when she threw a ceramic tea cup at your head. The memories of your mother were fairly fuzzy, thanks to the years working for Wuxing that shaved time from your lifespan. You remembered the day you found your mother dead, and it was something that you could never forget. You didn’t think you ever could.
Of course, after your mother’s death, your brother spiraled deeper and deeper into gambling. He lost his job. He spent all day most days drunk and wasted instead of sober. You were still too young to get a part-time job, but you were certain that your brother would burn any money you brought in.
You were able to keep you and your brother afloat because sometimes he would come home from gambling with cold hard cash. You’d take some from him when he finally blacked out. He never remembered how much he won, so as long as you left something, you could at least get groceries and pay rent and bills. Even when he caught you and beat you within an inch of your life, you still kept stealing from him. You weren’t going to let yourself be thrown onto the streets. Trying times made you consider learning to pickpocket, but before that could come to a head, Wuxing came knocking.
At that point, you weren’t even sure you were human anymore. You had lost weight. You were covered with bruises that could easily be hidden under school uniforms. Anyone who saw you turned a blind eye, because it wasn’t their business what happened in your home. You hated every second of it, and it all culminated when your brother sold you in an attempt to ease his debts. Your brother’s blood was still warm on your face when Genbu’s men grabbed you. They whispered terrible things in your ear, telling you in explicit detail how they planned to make you pay “your” debt.
Your first few years with Wuxing were something you wished you could scrub from your mind. Yet, you would never be clean of the things done to you and what you had done. Even now you felt like there was a disconnect between you and your body. Just a permanent state of detachment that would rear its head if you weren’t cracking jokes or making a conscious effort.
Fuck, you had to get your shit together before you went to Genbu. Throwing a wad of yen on the table, you stood and headed out. Everything around you was a blur as you made your way to the abandoned police station where Genbu did his business.
There was a specific knock you were supposed to use, but you couldn’t be bothered to remember it. You popped a stick of gum in your mouth before loudly banging on the door and yelling. It had the same effect of getting attention and before you could even strike the door a third time, a disgruntled looking Genbu had opened the door.
“You tryna make trouble?” he grunted.
Your smile was devilishly saccharine. “It’s what I do best.”
Genbu snorted before stepping back and letting you walk in. You hadn’t been to this part of Wuxing’s domain. Each of the Four Symbols had their own regions where they conducted business and very rarely did these overlap. You were one of the few that had seen Seiryu’s underground fighting ring and Byakko’s brothels. Now having visited Genbu’s hideout, you were familiar with each of the Four Symbols’ kingdoms. Probably one of the only lower status members, now that you thought about it.
Wuxing’s upper echelons may spit on you, but even they couldn’t argue that you weren’t good at what you do.
“What couldn’t wait until the big meeting that made you call for me now?” you asked as Genbu closed the door.
“Whoever we caught,” Genbu started, “they know who you are.”
You stared at Genbu. “Yeah, I’m Suzaku’s Lot—”
“No, they know your real name.”
What?
What?
“That doesn’t make sense,” you said, stumbling over your words. You couldn’t hide how shaken you were. Any mention of who you were before sent you into a horrifying spiral. “Nobody should know who I am.”
“That’s what we thought too,” Genbu said.
“We?”
“Follow me.” Genbu didn’t wait for a response before he started walking away. You jogged a little to catch up with him and he walked into a room. Stepping inside you saw Suzaku, Byakko, and Seiryu. Your eyes quickly scanned the room for any sign that you were going to be murdered, but they stopped when they landed on the one way mirror to the adjacent room.
There were four men, each handcuffed to a chair and displaying a variety of bruises and bloodied faces.
“What the hell?” you asked, voice barely a whisper.
“They haven’t given us any useful information,” Genbu said. “But they know who you are, who your mother was, and who your brother was. When we asked further, they said nothing. Just laughed. Said they’d only talk if it was to  you.”
Fuck, it was exactly like the guy you and Rindou had run into. Almost as if they could tell you were staring at them, their heads snapped up and they looked straight at you. Even the Four Symbols stiffened at the sudden movement.
“Did you bring her?” the one third from the right asked. Maybe he was the leader? He sounded familiar, like the one you had met in that warehouse.
They had been locked up here so long you doubted they were high, unless Genbu drugged them during the interrogation. But the unnerving smiles they wore... This was too much for you.
Genbu moved forward and spoke into an old microphone on the desk. “She’s here.”
“No, let her speak.”
Genbu stepped away and motioned you to come forward. You weren’t entirely sure what to say, but you knew you were close to snapping. “I’m here. What do you want?”
You prayed they didn’t hear the waver of your voice, but if they did they gave no indication. “Do you remember your mother?” the leader asked, using your real name.
You shuddered. “Not really,” you lied.
“I see,” he hummed. “Do you know anything about your family?”
Even though they couldn’t see it, you shrugged. “Just that my sperm donor was a deadbeat, Mom hated when we asked about him, and my brother was a bastard.”
That got a chuckle out of the four men in the interrogation room.
“Would you like to know?”
“What?” Your blood froze. Behind you the Four Symbols exchanged confused glances.
“Everything you need to know,” the man said. “You will learn if you—”
“I’m not interested.”
The man frowned. Was he expecting you to give a shit about the people who made your life go from worse to absolute hell? All you cared about was getting out of Wuxing, maybe even the country, and never coming back.
“Just seems like a lot of trouble,” you drawled. “I don’t particularly care about my family history.”
“Are you loyal to Wuxing? Did he convince you to join them?”
You didn’t ask for clarification because if they knew who you were, then surely they knew your brother got you into this mess. “Something like that,” you said, keeping the answer neutral. The last thing you wanted was any of the Four Symbols to think you were betraying them. Well, you supposed your record wasn’t exactly clean in that aspect, but it didn’t include these sorry bastards in front of you.
“That is unfortunate,” the man hummed. “Well, if you ever want answers, consider seeking Nirvana.”
You looked back at Suzaku and Genbu, avoiding eye contact with Byakko and ignoring Seiryu. They were blank faced and likely as confused as you were. Genbu stepped forward and pulled you away from the mic. “What do you mean?” he demanded. “Who are you people? How do you know these—”
Suzaku jerked Genbu back and the man’s words were cut off. Then, like a switch was flipped, the captives dropped their heads and refused to answer any more questions or demands. You were confused to start with, but now it was even worse. You weren’t anyone of importance. You knew you weren’t.
It seemed like the Four Symbols had an idea of what was going on, but they weren’t going to tell you. Rarely did you ever need to know what was happening, and truthfully you didn’t want to. The less you knew about the situation the better.
Ignorance was bliss and you refused to let go of that. “I don’t know what the hell they want from me,” you said. There wasn’t anything defensive about your tone, just confusion and fear.
Genbu ran a hand down his face. “Yeah, we gathered that.” He sighed. “We’re going to have to report this to Kirin.”
You could almost feel the collective groan they didn’t let out. So they hated reporting to their boss too. You would almost feel sympathy if you hadn’t been tormented by every single one of them.
“You’re not coming,” Suzaku said immediately.
“Huh?!” You were genuinely taken aback at how quickly Suzaku snapped that out. “I didn’t say anything and I don’t want to!”
“That’s a first,” Byakko snorted.
You wanted to turn around and snarl at him but you didn’t. “I don’t want to be tangled up in this shit any more than I have to. I don’t know a goddamn thing about what they were saying. I’m not important. You all know this! The only reason you haven’t killed me yet is because of my stupid brother’s debt and because I’m maybe a good runner.”
You didn’t want to break down in front of the Four Symbols, but they said nothing as tears streamed down your face. If they were kinder, they would have taken pity on your confusion and anxiety, but they didn’t care. They had seen enough that you breaking down wasn’t going to faze them.
“Seiryu, take Lotus home,” Suzaku ordered. “I’m going to get in touch with Kirin and figure out what we’re going to do next. Genbu, keep digging for information. Byakko, keep an eye out in your territory.” Suzaku looked you in your stinging, teary eyes, “And Lotus, you don’t fucking go anywhere alone.”

Hi, I recently found your page because of Afterlife Archive and became really interested in playing it, but I noticed that the last update on development is from last October and was wondering if you're still developing it or if you decided to take a break from that.
I just wanted to know in case you plan on making more changes in dynamics in the future, but I intend to support the development of the game either way, because it seems great
First of all, thank you so much for reaching out with this positive input. 🙂
Afterlife Archive got put on hold at the end of last year because I was hired at a new job and I was taking time to settle in. In my free time, I put effort into creating updates for the game that I was never entirely satisfied with, and so they were never released.
I've noticed that my posts about the game still do get some attention here on Tumblr, and the Kickstarter prelaunch isn't dead either— there are a number of followers waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don't want to abandon the project or the people, like you, who are interested in seeing it develop fully.
In the past couple of weeks, I've been toying with the idea of a big rework for the game's premise and mechanics. I would also be renaming the project After-Connect.
In this new version, the game would function more like an interactive fiction with randomized and score-keeping elements, instead of a journaling rpg with player customization and minigames. The game would flow more intuitively, and the rules would be learned as the player progressed through a case, making decisions and rolling dice to bring about different consequences, all the while tallying up points that could be used to unlock things like badges, player prestige titles, and perhaps even abilities/skills to be used in later cases/playthroughs to change the course of the story.
The interactive fiction approach to making this game would no doubt require more pages, though, especially if I want to include a wide variety of settings, entities, and clients for the player to interact with. So, I think I may try splitting the game into volumes, each one containing a small set of 2-3 haunting modules for the player to have at. 😉
The title change— from Afterlife Archive to After-Connect —seems only appropriate since I intend to tweek the premise.
Before, the player would take on the role of an investigator belonging to an old Order of scholars with a focus on occult knowledge. The player's main objective was to learn and speculate about the nature of the entity.
In the new version, the player would take on the role of an independent agent verified by an online organization and network called After-Connect. Here's some copy I came up with for the fictional online service XD :
After-Connect is a network that pairs occult experts with real people experiencing real paranormal problems. We at After-Connect, alongside our growing userbase of verified agents, are here to help with a wide range of occult related issues. You're not alone, and there are solutions.
Submit an Agent Request Form here.
Essentially, After-Connect offers verified agents multiple cases to choose from, and puts them in touch with the Clients who submitted those request forms. Agents may rent equipment from After-Connect to use during their investigations, as well as gain access to the wealth of occult information stored in the virtual archive when and where it would assist in making judgment calls.
The player perspective would switch back and forth between After-Connect's user interface and present-tense second-person point of view set at haunting location.
The overall player objective in this new version would be to meet the Client's request. Maybe they want the spirit expelled from their property. Maybe they want you to facilitate communication with the spirit. It all depends on the Client. Your goal is to satisfy their curiosity, put them at ease, make them happy. To accomplish this, you need to gain a clear understanding of the entity you're dealing with, and gathering various pieces of evidence will help you do that.
So that's my plan for the game formerly known as "Afterlife Archive". To hold myself accountable going forward, I intend to post pictures of new pages as they're drafted. I want to keep those interested in this project informed about its progress as much as possible, and I apologize for the radio silence that's transpired for the past few months.
Let me know what you think of these concepts and possible developments. Do you like the sound of this new direction? Does After-Connect seem like a good idea? Feedback is always welcome~
Thank you again for the ask. It feels great to know there are still eyes on this project. It keeps me invested even with the distractions of life swirling around me. I'm grateful for all input from the gaming community! 😄

why do you dislike astarian?
I'm sure if I answered truthfully I'd get mountains of lectures telling me why I'm wrong and awful for not liking the fandoms darling but heres my attempt to articulate my issues. This is in no particular order.
1. It actively makes no sense in character for any version of Tav to keep Ast*rion alive.
A good aligned Tav would likely attack him after he attacks them when they meet and if we assume we give him the old "OK we'll forgive you this time but don't do it again" once he tries to snack on us without consent while we sleep that reasonably should be his last straw.
An evil aligned Tav should have even less reasons to give him second chances cause killing should be nothing to them. And it isn't till later we really know how his worldview would align with an evil Tav
The only real reason to keep Ast*rion is if you are roleplaying a pushover OR you are being Meta because you the player find him attractive. Even Lae'Zel who starts the game really mean (somewhat justifably so since shes put in a cage and racially abused after being put through what her people claim is a fate worse than death), has a good reason to be kept around, she claims to have a cure for the parasite and will share it with the rest of you. Ast*rion offers nothing other than trying to stab you when you meet and then trying to drink your blood without consent while you sleep. Realistically his luck should have run out like if it was Wyll or Karlach or Lae'Zel in charge and you didn't control them he'd be dead. Probably even Shadowheart and Gale would as well.
2. By changing how DnD Vampire Spawns work they made his plot actively very confusing.
OK so Vampire Spawns are meant to not have any control over themselves, their master is meant to be able to control them. We briefly see this when one of the Spawns goes to disobey Caz*dor later. The issue with that is if Caz*dor can control them.... why does he need to punish them into submission? Ast*rion says he almost escaped once but why did Caz*dor ever give him enough freewill to even attempt that? Is Caz*dor just a sadist? If so they don't do a good enough job portraying that. They make the hunger and bloodlust that Spawns feel seem almost.... inconsequential for Ast*rion after that first feeding scene, they basically plays so fast and loose with the DnD Vampire lore but still used the lore to justify every bad thing Ast*rion did under Caz*dor so that he doesn't have to admit any fault like no don't bend the lore into a pretzel but then still use the lore for justifying and exonerate Ast*rion.
3. I don't get the impression he changed as much as people claim.
Like does he grow through his romance? Sure he starts to see Tav as more of a person and less of a tool. That's great. But Lae'Zel and Shadowheart both have fantastic development OUTSIDE of their relationship to Tav. The bar was set too high for you to hide his development behind a romance route I have no desire to do. I'll admit this is an issue Gale to a degree suffers from as well, less so that he doesn't change if you romance him but in his case more so his very examples of his growth are hidden in his romance scenes.
But with Ast*rion I did not think he really self reflected in the ways I would have liked. Even right before fighting Caz*dor he was still claiming he had no reason to feel guilty about what he did as a servant of Caz*dor, like yes the game wants me to believe you had no control, but someone with a conscience would still feel guilty about it. Also everyone else provided you've been pushing then towards good throughout the game will choose to make the right decision on their own accord when given the chance in game, every version of the Ascension scene I've seen requires a persuasion roll for Ast*rion, meaning he doesn't choose to not do the ritual himself he always needs to be persuaded not to whereas provided you've pushed Shadowheart towards good the whole game she will choose to save Dame Aylin on her own, Lae'Zel will choose to turn against Vlaakith on her own etc. The only way he doesn't need persuaded is if 1. He never learnt about the ritual from Raphael, thus he is only there to kill Caz*dor anyway or 2. You kill one of the Spawns in the battle thus the ritual can't be complete
4. He was favoured by the developers at the detriment of other characters.
It's insane that there's literally proof from some of the people who worked on this game that they favoured Ast*rion over other characters when it came to content. And some of his fans think this is somehow a good thing? When all this does is show the rest of the fans (who let's remember the most recent stats the majority of players are not Ast*rion Girlies, they are very loud within fandom but fandom is not everyone who bought and played this game) that we are not as valued by Larian and that's gonna breed resentment.
Wyll got absolutely shafted compared to other companions and everyone got shafted compared to Ast*rion. When the game had to cut out content for Wyll and Karlach but was able to add in like double the amount of romance scenes of Ast*rion when compared to the next companion with the most scenes then we need to start asking why this was allowed. We'd all rather have a complete story for everyone than an extra sex scene with Ast*rion that doesn't add anything to the plot.
5. His fans are obnoxious
Now.... I will be the first to admit all the fans of each of the characters are kinda obnoxious (except most Wyll fans, you guys are cool, I like you). I love Gale and even I know that his fans can be overly defensive at times (sometimes justifiably so, other times they just need to take a step back and realise not every joke at Gale's expense is hateful). BUT because Ast*rion fans are so prominent in fandom spaces you are more likely to run into obnoxious Ast*rion fans than the rest. Like if a post doesn't mention him, don't bring him up in the comments, if someone says "I'm role-playing a Lawful Good Paladin etc. I need a Rogue cause my character wouldn't bring Ast*rion along" don't spend the next hour of your life trying to twist yourself into a pretzel to justify why someone who is Lawful Good should be OK with having the man who disapproves of you helping slaves around. And stop throwing the "canon" word around. This is an issue I have with fandom in general nowadays but "canon" doesn't matter much. BG3 will NEVER canonise a love interest for Tav, they might never even canonise a class or race for Tav. So stol trying to argue that because Ast*rion x D*rge got so much extra content that it's canon to try and win some silly Internet war. All you're doing is annoying people.
What's kinda sad is... I found Ast*rion to be incredibly charming early on, not my type for romance but I enjoyed having him around for the snarky commentary. But whenever his plot came up I found myself rolling my eyes cause the rest of the game Ast*rion seems so self aware that he's kinda an asshole yet when his plot scenes happen he seems to lose that self awareness and it just soured the character for me. But hey, by most modern day gaming standards he's still basically Shakespearean in comparison so this will likely be the only post I make detailing my issues unless I'm asked something more indepth.

I feel the same way Japanese Maidens...
Those people are bat shit stupid and insanely retarded with what they think about Jesus Christ. They have no fucking idea what the hell kind of disaster is coming because it's all some popular media delusion to them with no memory of cultural violence about the matter because they think they are different than the Ancient Hebrews even though they are committing the same unforgivable sins.
You and I both wanted to know, and it is horrifying how many people do not know how important that wisdom is in this day and age...
This is a male problem, with a very maidenly solution.
It's like rock, paper, scissors. You've got evil crones to terrorize you, and I can knock them out no problem. Easy. Crone-killing is one of the things I am naturally proficient at. They are powerful to maidens, but impotent before a good man, because they are ugly and old and menopausal.
Don't listen to the old ladys or their husbands. They are stupid and trying to control you with systematic violence and economic oppression. Stay true, stick to your guns, and I will meet you with heavenly joy most amazing on the other side of the carnage they are so kindly offering their bodies to entertain everyone with.
Your crones are the ones bullying your prince, and my natural proficiencies are why I did not end up like that myself. However, your prince knows something I am very interested in knowing myself too, and I hope we can someday introduce ourselves formally.
It is a very serious problem, but realistically is little more than old ladies being dirty. That's something that is resolved by the same solution as every other thing.
We have to show the people how to do things the good way.
The problem happening currently in the USA on account of their antagonism to the consistent universal wisdom of always is a biblical extinction scale problem, which in reality is the most unforgivable crime that cannot be tolerated under any circumstance whatsoever.
That is all because the president is not some random person, but a role of responsibility that involves and concerns all people in the world, and is not one of any biological or bodily importance. It is not genetic, inherited, or any sort of bodily qualification requirement like the older nobility traditions had with their ways of life the people in the USA are trying to imitate in offensive vanity and total ignorance of noble ideals.
That is just a job on paper, and they can be punished on paper with or without their bodily cooperation.
(I would be "some random person".)
God is real and Christ is real, and they are both underneath the standard of dignity that is required for human beings. This is true, and even if you doubt it, when you uncover the divine order of reality for yourself, you will see by rebuilding all of creation yourself, that this is how it is and always will be.
The Christ is the first person who is awakened by an insult beneath human dignity, and God is the last person awakened by that same insult if it is not corrected. That is not an idle power.
Christ may be "lulled back to sleep", but once God is up, everyone is on their faces begging for mercy and the entire world changes overnight.
If this is all very new and shocking to you, you may find it helpful trying to understand by being flexible with the meanings you know for certain words until you have a good grasp on the true form of those words in your mind.
The entire idea I am intending to share with everyone is what I know in my own mind that makes me so exceptional in this situation and coveted by enemies who do not understand that I was freely giving the very thing they were coveting before they started antagonizing me at all to make me stop.
I want people to know how to think the way I think, to conceptualize forms and passions in their mind the way I do, methodically, knowledgeably, and with innate understanding of the divine powers of the universe in the most subtle and intricate ways. I want everyone to have that for themselves. That will be amazing. You will all love it, and you will love even more what we can do together.
This "mind magic technique" is what I call storiometry.
It is a science you need to know yesterday, and will be able to learn yesterday to make up for all the mistakes you caused between then and now to prevent or mitigate any consequences you may suffer until you reach enlightenment, and then it as all grease and gravy with no fat around the waist ever again. Swear to God. Christ the Savior Jesus. Quetzalcoatl on crack with Odin spearheading the latest dope craze.
Stop fighting. Put the attention on me. I will give everyone the Word and then you will have all the attention back. That quickly, that easily, painless, and I will not take any personal pleasure in anyone's suffering unless they choose to make an example of themselves for our enjoyment.
After the Word gets out, I don't care about treason the way you probably think. I care, my judgement stands, but it is among the least of my present concerns for my plans and ambitions. That betrayal is the most obvious fact of reality the public will not be allowed to ignore for much longer before they start noticing the problems.
It's a lot harder to explain the more serious problems, but that is much easier to ignite the investigation that is needed to expose the more problematic crimes.
What needs to be done in a clinical sense, is that all the people infected with the delusion of "circumcision" need to make a conscious judgement of free will about the matter. There is only one outcome when a person does that with sufficient information to achieve any answer.

The Evolution of Web Design in Qatar: From Dial-Up to AI-Powered Experiences
Let’s rewind to the early 2000s in Qatar. Picture this: You’re sitting at a bulky desktop computer, waiting minutes for a single webpage to load. The screen flickers to reveal a plain text-heavy site with tiny images and a menu bar that looks like it was designed in Microsoft Word. Fast-forward to today, and you’re scrolling through a Qatari e-commerce site on your phone — sleek animations, Arabic calligraphy woven into modern layouts, and instant checkout options. How did we get here? Let’s dive into Qatar’s web design journey, explore what’s trending now, and peek into its futuristic ambitions.
The 2000s: Baby Steps in Qatar’s Digital Playground
When Qatar first dipped its toes into the internet, websites were like digital pamphlets. They weren’t pretty, but they got the job done. Government portals, local businesses, and even schools started creating basic HTML pages. Here’s what stood out:
Text Over Flash: Fancy graphics? Forget it. Early sites prioritized information — think paragraphs of text, bullet points, and maybe a pixelated logo.
Bilingual Basics: Even back then, Qatari sites knew their audience. Arabic and English text sat side by side, often in clunky layouts.
Patience Required: With dial-up internet, waiting for a site to load felt like watching sand trickle in an hourglass. Designers avoided heavy images to keep things moving.
Remember Qatar Airways’ first website? It was all flight schedules and contact details — no flashy promotions or 360-degree cabin tours. But these humble beginnings laid the groundwork for something bigger.
2024: Where Tradition Meets Cutting-Edge Tech
Today, Qatar’s web design scene is a vibrant mix of cultural pride and tech wizardry. Let’s break down what’s hot right now:
1. “Mobile-First” Isn’t a Trend — It’s a Rule
Over 90% of Qataris browse the web on smartphones. Sites now start with mobile designs, ensuring buttons are thumb-friendly and menus collapse neatly. Take Talabat’s app-like website: it’s so smooth you’ll forget you’re not using an actual app.
2. Arabic Calligraphy Gets a Modern Makeover
Gone are the days of generic fonts. Designers are blending traditional Arabic scripts with minimalist layouts. Check out Msheireb Properties’ site — elegant Kufic-style typography dances alongside crisp images of Doha’s skyline.
3. Speed is King (Thanks, 5G!)
Qatar’s 5G networks are among the fastest globally. Websites now load in under two seconds, with designers optimizing every image and line of code. Slow sites? They’re as outdated as flip phones.
4. Storytelling Through Scrolling
Qatar’s tourism sites are masters of this. Scroll down Visit Qatar’s homepage, and you’ll glide from desert dunes to futuristic skyscrapers, with videos that make you feel the Arabian Gulf breeze.
5. E-Commerce: No More “Add to Cart” Frustration
Local platforms like Snoonu and Farfetch Qatar have upped their game. Features like:
One-tap checkout
Live chat with real agents (no bots!)
AR try-ons for abayas and sunglasses
…are making online shopping feel like a VIP experience.
6. Inclusivity Takes Center Stage
Qatar’s push for accessibility is reshaping the web. Sites now include:
Voice navigation for visually impaired users
Color contrast adjustments for dyslexia-friendly reading
Easy-to-read fonts in both Arabic and English
2030 and Beyond: Qatar’s Web Design Crystal Ball
Qatar doesn’t follow trends — it creates them. Here’s what’s coming next:
1. “Siri, Find Me a Luxury Villa in Lusail”
Voice search is exploding. Soon, Qatari sites will answer queries like, “Show me hotels near Katara Cultural Village with sea views” in flawless Arabic or English.
2. Your Website Knows You Better Than Your Best Friend
AI will personalize sites in real time. Example: A returning visitor to Qatar National Bank’s site sees custom mortgage offers based on their browsing history — no login required.
3. Virtual Souq Waqif Tours
Why just read about a store when you can VR-walk through it? Future e-commerce sites might let you haggle with a virtual shopkeeper or smell digital oud perfume samples.
4. Eco-Friendly Coding
As Qatar aims for sustainability, expect “green web design.” Think solar-powered hosting servers and sites that track your carbon footprint while browsing.
5. Biometric Logins
Forget passwords. Qatari banking and government sites might soon use facial recognition or fingerprint scans for instant access.
Why This Matters for YOU
Whether you’re a startup in Education City or a heritage brand in Souq Waqif, your website is your digital handshake. In Qatar’s competitive market, a stale design can cost you customers. But a site that blends Qatari culture with innovation? That’s how you stand out.
Final Thoughts
From the dial-up days of the 2000s to tomorrow’s AI-driven interfaces, Qatar’s web design evolution mirrors its leap from regional player to global innovator. The next time you browse a Qatari site, notice the details — the way Arabic script flows like poetry, the split-second load times, the subtle nods to desert landscapes in the color palette.
For businesses, this isn’t just about keeping up. It’s about leading. And for users? It means smoother, smarter, and more beautiful online journeys.
