Does Louis IX of France’s statue at Saint Chapelle not look like lord Farquaad? The square jaw, the hair, the height, the raised eyebrow?
Photo credits to me for the statue photo.

people need to stop tagging every age gap post as hannigram tbh. their age gap is around ten years at most, probably closer to six years, and for two people in their mid to late 30s and 40s thats not that big of a deal. i promise there are more interesting age gaps out there <3

anyway said this fifty times before but sheldon harnick performing his own lyrics is so touching bc it always feels like its earnestly *his* worldview, his feelings, while absolutely staying true to the character and situation in the show. like fred ebb and jerry herman, who are also really great performers of their own work (ebb more than herman)

Ya know, everyone talks shit about Fairytail because it does rely heavily on “the power of friendship” and I get if that’s not your thing or feels too childish for you but
Can we acknowledge how dark it all is? Loke/Leo is suicidal in the beginning, Lucy comes from an abusive father and dead mother, Gray is an orphan And his step in mother figure died to save him after he made a bad choice, Erza was an orphan and a Literal Slave as a child with a bunch of other children and her childhood love got possessed and continued her abuser’s work. We all know the shit with Natsu and the dragon slayers.
That’s not even going into the Mirajane/Elfman/Lisanna backstory, or the story of any other characters like Juvia and Happy and Charla and Zeref and such. Like holy shit? This show is so so dark and everyone looks over all the trauma and dark themes because there’s the whole power of friendship thing, which was weaved into the show to actually mean something and not just there for shits and giggles.
All this to say, you can dislike the show, hate it even, but don’t just judge it for the light hearted outer shell it has, because inside is dark and dense and Meaningful
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

Witnessing the half-life of so many people’s relationship with fandom nowadays is so…hmmm. It gives me this sort of pitying dread. You’re never obligated to stay in a fandom that no longer rings you joy, but the way I’ve seen several people now Announce their “retirement” from certain fandoms (and no, this isn’t just the dca fandom I’m seeing this in) when they no longer want to make a bunch of content is so symptomatic of this poisonous idea of the content creator vs the fan, and how you can’t really be considered part of a community if you’re not producing for that community all the time. Guys, this is NOT how fandom has always been. This is new and this is awful. Please kill the capitalist that lives in your brain and is trying to infect the fan in you and its relationship to fandom. Are people just uninterested in j retracting with things that don’t bring the same dopamine high as they did when they first encountered it and were newly obsessed? And how much does that speak to peoples’ wide relationship with media nowadays?
Nothing I’m saying here is new or original, i know. But I’m just sort of… shocked by the attitude I see a lot of people treating fandom and the media it spawns from with lately. It’s uncomfortably transactional.

so what i'm getting from a lot of this separatist discourse is half of us don't read theory, an eigth of us are homophobic, and a quarter of us are still trying to belittle the bits of feminism that make us uncomfortable or demand a bit more effort and self-reflection. what a week.
and it's only wednesday.

This is gross but i would bet money that elon and grimes did artificial insemination but they did it like ritualistically to make it sexual. There is no way they did that shit traditionally... look at everything else

gendercrits with no experience of trans/nonbinary identity, detransition/desistance etc, while perfectly able to make observations on misogyny, homophobia and racism in TQ+ circles...just inherently don't seem to "get" how differing trans and nonbinary communities view gender, and make a lot of damaging assumptions and judgement errors along the way
there's no way to stop this, everyone has their own opinions after all. but it's frustrating to see, as someone who has gone from being a "trans women are women" no-debate neoqueer to being a radfem. and no doubt it's much much worse for detransitioners, bearing the brunt of most of these presumptions
equally though, it's infuriating - as a former member of the queerios club - to see self-identified queers pulling the whole "that never happens" trick. don't bullshit me, kid, i was there, i witnessed it, i experienced it lol. guess the gays can just never win 🤷‍♀️

I was just about to make a post complaining about the music video for How Far Will We Take It by Orville Peck and Noah Cyrus where they're both like kissing on a boy because the boy is so clearly Not Into Guys and he looks so stilted and awkward in every clip where Orville is feeling him up. But then I looked him up and he's an out bisexual french canadian actor dating a man, so I guess that's just his energy. Anyway, find more hot guys that would ravenously make out with Orville Peck on camera like I would.

Impulse includes so much more of his interactions with others in his episodes it's sooo nice and really interesting to see how much gets cut out from other's episodes in comparison esp with the Boatem episodes I've been watching it's so interesting to see what each Hermit thinks of as necessary to the video that other's don't.
Like there's a lot of instances of Hermits cutting down or sort of "refining" their own sentences and stuff where in other's episodes they'll leave in the little fumbles and stuff because to them it's nbd.
I feel like Scar and Impulse are on opposite ends of the interactions included per episode spectrum in how much I've seen of s8 so far
I feel like in Scar's episodes he edits interactions with other Hermits to be short and sweet and his edits make himself look smooth and everything he says is intentional, but you see him from literally any other perspective he's literally just Saying What Ever and falling and dying 5 times in 2 minutes, there's that one clip from one of Cub's videos where Cub is watching him fly around his base several times and Cub just knows he's repeatedly trying to do an intro to a video, Scar's perfectionism is on like full display in his videos which I think is cool
And then on the other hand you have Impulse who leaves in Sooo much of a conversation that you'd normally miss from other Hermits, like he'll keep some kinda Casual Chats he has with his fellow Hermits and its very sweet and chill and like there are some funny little moments that generally you'd miss if you watched other Hermits
It was really highlighted to me when I watched the second Boatem meeting the one with the explosives from each of their perspectives, there was a lot that I hadn't seen before on Impulse's side, vs Scar included like 3 quick quips that he made during the meeting and that was pretty much all you see on his end
Idk it's just so interesting to see what is deemed important enough to keep and what isn't by whoever it is I'm watching

absolutely fascinating, that post I make about ppl who make it their life's goal to be miserable to other ppl online reaching the point where it slipped out of orbit and just made a mad dash through a lot of random folks ahah. Very much a microcosm of the internet for sure.
I was specifically referencing the ppl connected to the g@ter movements b/c they all seem to have a very specific playbook, (cant forget that they know everything about art and game making and journalism and film making despite never doing anything in it, and of course the bonus transphobia/racism/etc) but also it was kinda me thinking about like...just make sure you branch out? like find joy in things that isn't just hurting other people? You don't have to be nice to everyone, you don't even have to not be a hater but like...knocking off the personal attacks that the fascists use could be cool, and like, I dunno, make sure you smile at something else that isn't telling artists they should become obsolete b/c they can do something you can't? or like, turn some very well deserved anger to things that need it and affect the real world we all live in & maybe make some change? I dunno, it IS open ended, so I guess death of the author is bound to happen like most meme-y things lol
I just didn't expect it to go anywhere to be honest ahaha. I do appreciate that is speaks to most folks in the way I hoped it would, and I hope everyone has their potted plant they can enjoy, whatever form it may take lol
