It’s the silence that gets me in this scene; you can hear everything - his apprehension, their breaths, her moans. And the way he lifts her dress and looks at her in awe, the way he kisses her neck before every bite, the way he grips her breast, and the way she urges him back to her when he starts to leave. Shockingly intimate.

Director and writer Werner Herzog produced two different versions of the film simultaneously, one in German and one in English, in order to appeal to English-speaking audiences. Most dialogues were filmed in both languages, although a few scenes were shot only once, using dubs as needed.

Skarsgård will never be half the monster Kinski is. But he does his own thing instead of trying to copy his predecesor. And so does the whole movie. And so did Kinski not trying to just copy Schreck. Gotta respect that.
