I do find it notable that this party is presumably just so tired. Like they just keep attacking each other again and again. They had so little and took so long to get through to Chet. I’m sure some of that was letting Travis have his fun but for nonmeta reasons it could appear as just a weariness. They’ve accepted they just need to put each other out when they loose themselves like that.
Idk if that’s good or bad but it might be something.

When I was ~13 I also used to win Pokémon battles like this and people online got really, really upset with me. So out of spite and a desire to keep winning I started doing it on purpose.
I keep at least one nonmeta strategy in every serious competitive team I have and it’s really funny. I test them on Pokémon Showdown (an online battle simulator) and sometimes if it’s effective I take the time to replicate them in my physical game copies. Then I fight competitive players in the actual game too. And frequently get ragequits in the form of someone abruptly turning off their Switch’s wifi.

"Why does no one want to play board games with you? Wait, wait, wait let me guess. Are you...overly competitive and/or insufferable to others? Orrr...Well, I doubt you're a sore loser. Maybe you win too much and that's why people don't play with you?"
One thick brow perked up over his left eye, the question seemed innocent enough but the answer would reveal a condition not everyone was comfortable with. Thad, answering his own question with guesses, had a smirk tugging at those corners, eyes dancing with delight at the breakdown of a speedster brain in nonmeta form. "All of those are great guesses. Actually, it could be a combination of them all. I wish I was a sore loser, but alas, just a sarcastic one. It is because I want to read all the directions first and then break down how to actually play the game. No one wants to wait for me to digest it, just want to dive in with impatience." There was one incident, though. "There was a monopoly game that went south quickly. I used the rules against everyone and gained each corner of the board that, statistically, people land on once in a go around. One of my brothers ended up pulling out a gun on me." Can Thad guess which?

very happy with how the ptcg is right now. 4 or 5 different meta decks in rotation, each pretty balanced against eachother, and nonmeta decks still stand somewhat of a chance against them. in addition, most of the meta decks are actually really fun to play, too. I find myself switching between miraidon ex and gardevoir ex pretty often because they’re both just so much fun. genuinely cannot understand how people enjoy playing mew+genesect or cramorant lostzone

Earthquake. It looks cool, you feel like a badass casting it, and bonus it is also meta. Out of the nonmeta moves, aroma therapy
To cleanse my TIMEAWFUL feed right now:
What is everyone’s favorite TM. And don’t say TOXIC we all know it’s ‘META’ or whatever but it’s not INTERESTING.
I like SWORDS DANCE.

i want to say this very carefully but i love love love content with babs being open with and giving advice regarding her disability and chronic pain but when babs is somehow the sole messiah on chronic pain in a cast where people have had their backs broken, been brutalized with baseball bats, and thrown out of moving vehicles as just another tuesday feels less like fandom angst/fluff and more like folks only seeing babs as 1) her disability or 2) a device to bring angst/fluff to another character or their development. ahhhhh

Like let's be real for a minute. If someone wants to turn a T9 into a miner or a T7 into an explorer or do combat in a Hauler or some non-optimal shit, and your first rewponse is to tell them that ship is not good l, then I don't like you.
My T9 is a multirole trader/miner/explorer and I get sick of being told how it's bad or not optimal. Who gives a shit? Clearly I don't so talk of optimisation isn't relevent.
Everyone benefits by ignoring meta brainrot and talking about the ship, fit, plans and ideals. Engaging with pilots on nonmeta ship usage is good, it opens dialogue for talking about engineering choices and what the pilot wants from their ship. It opens discussions on why pilots want to do stuff in certain ships. And most importantly it makes a more welcoming environment for experimentation.
Genuinely despise how metabrained ED gets sometimes "The T9 is a bad miner because of the distro". Didn't ask + don't care + I'm having fun + there's no wrong way to play a ship + metatext of gaming leading only to optimisation at the sacrifice of enjoyment leads to backlash against percieved deviations from meta and ruins other peoples fun + Again, I'm having fun.

i choose to believe the Runaways meet up at least once a month (rotating through where each of them live) to skateboard and eat take-out and junk food and watch movies and TV and play video games. it's like a little ritual for them and they always try really hard to make sure it happens, especially when their schedules are busy
I think that's so sweet for them, while Tye and Asami are living civilian lives, coming together is like a chance at normalcy
Ed and Virgil get to forget their hero burdens and just have fun with friends
Tye and Asami are with people who won't shy away from their powers, and give them a reprieve to just exist fully as they are, not as a nonmeta and not as a hero, just them
They probably go more so over with Tye n Asami as I'm sure they feel more grounded and more of an escape for the other two
I could even see them going on a road trip! Traveling around like when they were younger but safe and happy

Hello and good tidings to you!
Now, you may be wondering where I have been these past few months! Well, aside from some... rather bad mental health days, I have been scouring a terrain most unusual to me to find information on a representative species!
Specifically, the... well, I'm not sure what humans would call it. The human habitus has been considered a "backwater" by may of those in magical society, but as my, ahem, creator can attest, humanity is more than capable of harboring magical fauna. Like most things worth studying, it simply requires inspection.
Of current interest both of myself and, in niche circles, are these so-called "liminal spaces." Now, the casual term is for spaces of transition or decontextualization in a nonmeta-physical sense, perhaps conflated with the academic term due to the access of metaphysical locations through these casually-termed spaces, or the metaphysical-liminal spaces resembling "mundane" liminal spaces taken to exaggerated extremes.
It is the dream of a world, context filtered into magical shapes and decontextualized and jumbled. The dream of the world humans live in, much like the Memory Palace is the memory of the multiverse, though due to lack of study from magical society, any connections possibly linking the two are as of yet unknown.
There are enough native species to such locations to space out hundreds of entries, but with the aid of our pictured friend I have decided to focus on one. Specifically, the Maskers.
They are, as it seems, floating masks, often with some means of conventional locomotion but not always, sapient and able to access fine manipulation through facial expressions. Their biological systems on non-invasive inspection appear to be semi-organic and semi-inorganic but requiring supernatural means of biology for support of multiple systems.
Their ecological nitche appears to be akin to the cleaner wrasse or the infamous necropossums, in specific they are symbiotic creatures that allow creatures to empower aspects of their personalities not only by allowing concealment, but also in manifesting these aspects in supernatural powers, drawing energy in a mutualistic faction from this catharsis.
There are some restrictions, as my pictured friend has told me. There are nuances I may detail later, but the most prominent is an entity cannot have these qualities as their main "socially presentable" outward expression, the reaction of "matching masks" is supposedly a "taste" they find "disgusting".
Their written history is currently... difficult to access, due to the nature of its storage and the location, but they were able to introduce the body of their oral history regarding their origins. Apparently, they were created when thinking beings begain to hide their feelings beneath social graces, but not as expressions of those masks. Rather, as the world's reactions to these masks, for every reaction produces a reaction in and of itself. This bears further inspection, though it will require some navigatorial... finagling.
As with many inhabitants of this plane, their appearance shifts slightly from meeting-to-meeting,my hypothesis being this is a result of the nature of the "plane," but individuals do retain enough aspects of their appearance to be recognizable to lay individuals upon repeat encounter.
Hopefully we will meet again, as the fellow who was my main contact; who's name was Cheribam, was quite a sanguine; gregarious individual and a gracious conversant even with my, admitted, relative lack of familiarity with the area!
Though, their sanguine nature does make me curious upon which aspect they "surface" in their interactions...
Oh silly me I am annoyed I forgot to ask. Well, perhaps next time.

So, because I haven't returned to the former for depressingly long despite how many pics I had for it ready to go, I decided to tie together my XXX Book of Monsters stuff and my Liminal Spaces stuff, because I thought it might at least make that return a bit less... jarring.
And also because I love worldbuilding-crossovers, UNIFIED SETTING FTW!
And yes, I did make Cheribam as a "basic" representative of those mask-creatures who keep showing up in my Liminal Space stuff, so there's a bit more info there!
In the interest of giving, this type of surreal-specimen is free to use as you see fit under a CC-BY 4.0 license so long as I; Thomas F. Johnson, am credited as their creator!
And, if you wanna support me, maybe check out my Patreon, or even just send a Ko-Fi my way! Every penny is appreciated, and I am eternally grateful for those who donate!
Or, if you wanna commission me for a pic like this, my commission info is thisaway!
