Happy Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ I made a comic reflecting on my church upbringing as an eXvangelical trans person. The Jesus conservative Christians claim to represent looked lot more like many of the LGBTQ+ friends I know and love. Just some food for thought 💖

We need to stop talking about how conservatives don't want their kids to know LGBTQ people exist. They do want their kids to know we exist, but we will suffer for it.

They don't want their kids to know that it is okay and acceptable to be LGBTQ, that society will allow them to exist in peace and happiness. That at times LGBTQ people will be accepted.

They want their kids to know that LGBTQ is not okay or acceptable. That if they are LGBTQ they will be persecuted, marginalized, beaten, and scorned. That if they are they will have a terrible life, so they better g-ddamn be the good little cishet Christian soldier that Mommy and Daddy wanted.

They aren't actually scared that a couple rainbow displays will turn their kids gay or an affirming book will forcibly transition them. They're scared that their already LGBTQ kid will know that them being themselves is a just as valid life and not a one way ticket to misery and then hell.

They want to not just eradicate LGBTQ from existence, they want to have everyone else watch us suffer as a warning to stay in line.

Or maybe that's just LGBTQ survivor of an entire childhood and adolescence under an extreme abusive homophobe of a parent in me, idk why listen to me on this stuff.

The whole freaking point of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is that you love and respect people regardless of their differences, because at the end of the day you have to realize that they are a human being just like you, made in my father’s image, and loved dearly by my father. So when you hate that person, you might as well shout out that you hate me and my father, the very people you claim to worship and love with all your heart! Is this starting to make sense now?

I've gotta be real, while the person who created these comics wasn't religious, this still eats. When I was a young trans person, I never thought religion in general could accept me, and this changed my life to see, and seeing it reposted by religious folks was so comforting. While not all religions aren't the same, I was so afraid of rejection

Jesus is canonically simultaneously 100% god and 100% human, so that means even if the human part of him was cis, he’s still 100% gender non-conforming because a god can’t subscribe to human binary definitions of gender.

happy easter and trans visibility day to the trans and nonbinary christians who: -feel comfortable within both their faith *and* their identity. -found out they were trans *because* of christianity and/or God -have just recently converted to christianity -just came out to their community and was welcomed by said community -recently left a toxic church and are now comfortable expressing themselves because they left said toxic church also happy easter and trans day of visibility to the trans and nonbinary christians who: -cannot come out or transition due to their 'community' being unwelcoming -don't feel safe or welcome in the church because of transphobia -were forced back into the closet by their own 'community' -are questioning their gender identity or their faith -are considering leaving christianity entirely -are dealing with internalized transphobia -have transitioned but is considering detransitioning due to bullying/harassment from their own 'community' -are deconstructing their faith

it's easy to assume that being trans and christian is contradictory, but that's just not true. God loves you, Jesus loves you. You don't need to be "saved" from being trans or nonbinary, because God *made* you that way. God made us in His image, and he created your trans identity. <3
