i can try!

first, I recommend starting with the easy read version of toward transMad epistemologies: a working text. It's not an exact 1:1 and i have many gripes with the obfuscating/inaccuracy-making work of plain language. But it's a start! I'm also v open to feedback on it.

I'm also going to try my hand at simplifying + summarizing the excerpts I included in the other post, in the rough order that I list them there. below is my attempt. it will be imperfect but I hope it helps!

transMadness, redux:

transMadness isn't just, or most importantly, an identity per se. It's a way of thinking, knowing, and being in the world. I got the idea for transMadness, in part, from words like "neuroqueer" and "queercrip," portmanteaus that also gesture at the links between different forms of bodymind noncompliance. Both are interested in norm-transgression, and both don't hold with artificial boundaries between types (gender, sexual, disability, etc.) non-normativity.

What transMadness does with this knowledge is to embrace unruliness and borderlessness as important to how we know what we know. If psychiatry/the DSM establish authority by creating borders and categories for pathologizing us, transMadness embraces intellectual interdependence and ambiguity, as well as willful refusal of "sane" approaches to organizing the world.

transMadness is also an embrace of failure -- failure to comply, failure to "live up to" cis/sane standards, failure to work without friction -- as something generative, not negative. This is something we can bring into our research/relationships/pedagogy. We can embrace it as a feature of our community, and use it to navigate challenging situations where access needs conflict - for example, when bodily autonomy creates risk for multiple marginalized groups of people.

Another way that I look at transMadness is through xeno/neogender identity and community. For me, an orientation toward coinage/invention is a deeply transMad one, which takes psychiatric/medical authority over language and legitimacy and turns it on its head. Xenocommunities/self-dx oriented communities reclaim and transform hitherto violent language to suit their needs and possibly even serve collective liberation. The communities that form around identificatory self-determination are vital to keeping us alive and loved, and to transMad antipsych resistance. In the face of diagnostic practices that demand individual rehabilitation rather than social transformation, this is deeply necessary.

Xoriel is an anthro rabbit angel who identifies as luxine and collects genders under that neogender label. While luxine is by far and away cos strongest gender identity, co is also multigender and identifies with other neogender labels the system has, too, holding their sense of identification with genders that are recently coined and unrelated to the binary but are not xenogenders (while potentially using some xenogenders as well). They are also a cenelian gaybian, which they use to mean that they are gay for non-binary people and have a preference for ones who lean towards being either masculine or feminine. Xoriel is very calm and even-keeled. When other members of the system have strong and overwhelming emotions, they are able to neutralize those emotions and restore balance to the system. They take care of the system emotionally in general and serve as as a comforting presence. Despite the fact that it is an emotional neutralizer, it also experiences strong and passionate love for anyone the system considers themself in love with.

These results were particularly interesting to me, because despite the high amount of respondents, only 2 xenogenders went over 10 responses at all despite the massive overall number. Xenogenders are a very vast 'type' of gender with usually very personalized meanings.

I do think these results support my hypothesis that there is a strong intersection of neurodivergency, as well as specifically with autism.

COMMENTS ABOUT XENOGENDERS:

>> I believe that there is a huge problem in Xenos where the coiners end up deleting their blogs or presence online so it makes it impossible almost to trace back the gender, as well as there not being a well documented enough place for people to access info on Xenos. The best I found that is specifically only for Xenos is a Wikidot but it doesn't have a lot in terms of some genders imo. There's a weird sort of sense where genders and pronouns become their own lost media, and it's sad. I wish we had a way to properly catalog them as best we could but it's nigh impossible as MOGAI and Xenos were intended to be made where anything could be a Xeno (which is good!) but in the wake, double-coining happens and we lose the ones we did coin in the end. Sorry to ramble oops

I have no problem with non-xeno neogenders at all, but it's so hard to figure out what they mean because posts never have the definitions linked and if they do the link is broken lmao. Like I just wanna know some cool new genders please.

Also I'm really feeling dimensen, spiritine and eroscoitus for myself. I definitely experience them in a xenogender way but there's no reason I can't personally experience them that way since I also experience boyhood in a nonbinary way because I don't understand the concept of having a binary gender. I'm not sure if my reason for experiencing them this way is because I'm already xenogender or if it's a neurodivergency thing because my autism just makes me not relate to shit in typical ways and not understand certain aspects of identity or be able to tell the difference between them sometimes, especially in cases where the differences are highly subjective and if you don't feel it you can't really grasp it. I'm like that with romantic and platonic attraction. They're very subjective experiences that have a certain "je ne sais quoi" that make you know it is what it is only through experiencing them.

Maybe a shorthand word to say "I experience these neogenders in a xenogender way" without implying that they're inherently xenogender could be Xeneo. That's a nice little word. Yeah. I like that. E.g. xeneo dimensen, xeneo kenochoric, xeneo feruvel.
