The Future of Art: A Detailed Guide to Art Tokenization
Art-tokenization is shaping the diverse fields inspired by digital innovation with a significant footprint: the art world is not a partaker. One of the trendiest topics in the art world is art tokenization. It is revolutionizing the ways through which art can be bought, sold, and owned and is providing many unique opportunities for artists, collectors, and investors alike.
But, what exactly is this art tokenization? What does it mean? How does it work and why does it have the promise of doing something special for the art-and-collectibles market? This post discusses the pros and cons of art tokenization and what they are likely to portend for the future of this world.
What is Art Tokenization?
Art tokenization as the process of converting real or digital assets into tradeable digital tokens on a blockchain. In essence, tokenization allows an art piece to be represented by a token, in the same way as any crypto or asset on the blockchain, and may be bought, traded, and sold. A token represents a part of reality or digital asset that is backed by the token. These tokens are backed by the real-world or digital assets, denoting thereby a fraction of ownership or a piece of the artwork itself.
Art tokenization can also be simply understood as breaking down an artwork into fragmentary pieces, managing as tokens and can be owned by more than one owner, bringing about sharing of art with an audience who normally wouldn't be able to afford art because they cannot buy a whole piece outright.
Instead of buying the whole painting for a million dollars, someone could buy tokens that represent shares of ownership in that painting. Those tokens are verified and traded on the blockchain to ensure transparency and security.
Key Concepts of Art Tokenization:
Blockchain Technology:' This is a decentrally and immutably secure digital ledger for all transaction histories.
NFTs or Non-fungible tokens: Unique tokens of the form of non-fungal currency that indicate specific ownership of any item, and tokenizing art is often referred to use them.
Fractional Ownership: The shares of an asset to break it into several smaller parts, allowing many people to own a part of the asset itself.
The Role of Blockchain in Art Tokenization
The core of such art tokenization is found in the innovation of blockchain technology for the creation, exchange, and validation of digital tokens. It effectively guarantees authenticity, from the provenance to security, of art assets-as much for the buyer as for the seller, without reservation.
How Blockchain Secures Art Tokenization:
Exchange transparency: All transaction and transfer instances related to tokens are permanently written on the blockchain, and hence can be publicly verified. Such transparency aids in the fight against art forgery and also ensures that provenance has a traceable history of ownership for any artwork.
Security-in-blockchain : tokens and all transactions made with these tokens are secured by cryptographic methods. Once token issuance occurs and its ownership is transferred, it cannot be changed. It is, therefore, that strong security is there.
Smart contract: While blockchain also allows for smart contracts, these are self-executable contracts, the terms of which are written directly into code. For example, smart contracts for artwork tokenization would automatically execute their transactions once the given conditions are satisfied automatically reducing chances of fraud.
How Does Art Tokenization Work?
Of course, blockchain technology is very important for art tokenization, but much has to be done to bring an artwork into the tokenized marketplace. Below are some measures that will be taken for tokenizing an art piece:
Token creation: Selecting an art piece (physical or digital) to be tokenized. The artist, gallery owner, or owner works with a blockchain platform to mint a token for the artwork.
Valuation and Fractionalization: Calculate how valuable the artwork will be, and divide that total into smaller, tradable tokens. For example, a $500,000 artwork could be split into 500,000 tokens, each worth $1. Offer these tokens to investors or collectors.
Issuance of token: These tokens are then minted and put up for sale on a marketplace or auction site, enabling multiple individuals to buy shares of the artwork.
Trading and Selling: Token holders can purchase, and sell, as well as trade on the blockchain. If the price of the artwork goes up, the value of the tokens increases as well, giving a new avenue to earn from owning the art piece.
Smart Contract Enforcement: Smart contracts handle the transactional event automatically, like transfer or sale, of tokens. Based on that pre-defined template, the proceeds of the sale would be distributed to the artist, platform, and holders of tokens.

The Types of Art Tokens:
NFT Art Tokens: Generally used for digital artworks, NFTs or non-fungible tokens are unique tokens that represent ownership of a specific work of art. Unlike cryptocurrency assets such as Bitcoin, NFTs are not interchangeable and thus are unique, providing verifiable proof of ownership.
Fractionalized Art Tokens: These tokens signify a fractional ownership of a physical artwork-the ownership of the entire work is broken down into smaller pieces, which enables collective ownership without actually having to possess an entire artwork piece.
The Benefits of Art Tokenization
Tokenizing art provides a plethora of benefits to artists themselves, as well as collectors, investors, or, for the most part, the entire artistry marketplace. Here are some of them:
1. Accessibility
The world of art has traditionally been closed off for many potential investors, largely due to the extremely high costs associated with buying an original piece of art. Art tokenization further shatters these barriers by enabling people to invest in fractional holdings, making art accessible to a worldwide audience.
2.Liquidity in the Art Marketplace
The art market has since time immemorial been the one with the lowest liquidity. Art being such a long-term investment, the selling of a physical artwork may involve a long and complex process. With regard to tokenizing art, the fractioned tokens could entitle possession on a digital platform, making it easier to buy and sell art quickly.
3.Wider Reach to the Market
Through tokenization, access to art ownership is opened up to international investors and collectors with the opportunity to buy fractional tokens; thus, art can reach many more people than it ever could with traditional galleries or auction houses.
Ownership Clarity
With the persuasive impact of the transparency and immutability of the blockchain, art ownership will become clear and less complex. In turn, fraud or theft in art will be mitigated since actually, every record of a transaction is recorded and verified through the blockchain.
Income for Artists
Tokenization may well be an avenue through which artists maintain some ownership of their work post-sale. The function of smart contracts would mean that artists would automatically receive a share of any future sales or resales of their works-comforting income sources.
The Future of Art Tokenization
Future of art tokenization is indeed promising, despite the challenges. Whenever the blockchain gets matured and proper legal frameworks are kept into place, art tokenization could just start becoming a norm in the art industry. This could possibly shift the way art is bought and sold, and how people consider it - possibly utilizing digital tokens and owning a stake in well-known artworks.
Eventually, art tokenization could bring artists to different audiences, make the investment in art less rigid for collectors, and give liquidity to what is otherwise a rather illiquid market. As the industry develops, it would influence the platforms and channels for other new forms of hybrid and digital arts, such as augmented reality or virtual art, and would most likely further broaden the horizons or parameters within which art tokenization could work.
Conclusion
Art tokenization indeed has a great future despite all the challenges that are ahead. The moment the blockchain reaches a maturity level and has been established by legal fundamentals, art tokenization could well become standard in the art industry. Buying and selling art, and viewing it - possibly by utilizing digital tokens and owning a part in well-known works - could therefore become transformed entirely.
Eventually, art tokenization can facilitate bringing different audiences to artists, making investment in the art slightly less rigid for collectors, and ultimately liquefying what has been otherwise a fairly illiquid market. As the industry progresses, it would also affect those platforms and channels for other new hybrid and digital art forms, such as augmented reality or virtual art, and probably broaden the horizons or parameters within which art tokenization could perform.

From private “clubstaurants” to NFT reservation tokens to concierge services, getting a table is a lot easier if you’ve got the money.
Credit...Jonathan Carlson
Published Oct. 15, 2022Updated Oct. 18, 2022
As long as there have been high-status, celebrity-studded restaurants, there have been people clamoring to get into them, working contacts, making phone calls, greasing palms. Lately, though, it can seem like every restaurant in New York is that kind of restaurant.
In the pandemic era — with hours cut back in many cases, and a public eager to eat out once again — the competition for tables has reached a frenzied pitch on electronic reservation platforms.
“Without over-embellishing, within five seconds basically all reservations are taken,” said Steve Saed, who started #FreeRezy, a free electronic forum where people could swap reservations among themselves. “It’s like winning the lottery to eat at these places,” he added.
But a new generation of tactics have emerged to help would-be diners jump the line, including latter-day concierge services, NFTs granting holders special privileges, members-only credit card perks and private “clubstaurants.” What they all have in common is that they will cost you.
“However many years ago, it was slip the host or hostess $20 and bypass the line,” said Alex Lee, the chief executive of Resy and vice president of American Express Dining. He runs the companies’ Global Dining Network, a program that offers a select group of Amex members (Amex owns Resy) access to certain restaurant perks through the reservation platform.
The program, he suggested, is just the natural evolution of that furtive $20. For an annual credit card fee in the hundreds or sometimes thousands, Global Dining Access members can obtain priority reservations at hot restaurants across the United States. “The first thing customers want is access, right?” Mr. Lee said.
But at certain members-only restaurants, a reservation alone is not enough.
Haiku, a private Japanese restaurant in Miami, makes a slightly different calculation. The restaurant accepts members by invitation only, for an annual fee, and asks them to commit to at least four reservations annually for a 10-to-12-course kaiseki-inspired omakase menu. The restaurant declined to discuss either the application process or the price.
Jeff Zalaznick, a partner at Major Food Group, was only slightly more forthcoming about plans for the New York debut of ZZ’s Club, which will feature a members-only Carbone. Like the first ZZ’s in Miami, which offers members access to a Japanese restaurant, a sushi bar, a bar and lounge and a cigar terrace, ZZ’s Club New York will bring the Major Food Group experience to the financial and social elite. (Like Haiku, Major Food Group would not disclose the fee or the application process.)
But given that the original Carbone — which recently lost its Michelin star — is already impossible to get into, is it really necessary to have an even more exclusive version just two miles away?
“One of the great things about being a private member’s club, is the fact that you really can tailor everything on the food and beverage side to your customers at an even higher level than you can, obviously, when you’re just a public restaurant,” Mr. Zalaznick said.
This means knowing what members want, and how exactly they want it: How do they take their steak? Do they prefer still or sparkling water? What is their standing order, and with which modifications?
Diners can have all those things at the London import Casa Cruz, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, but for a stratospheric price tag. The top-floor dining room there is reserved for the 99 members of the restaurant’s “investor group of partners” who have paid between $250,000 and $500,000 to join.
“I think there’s a demand for curation,” said Noah Tepperberg, the co-CEO of Tao Group Hospitality, which next year is opening a private club in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, in collaboration with the restaurant group Lettuce Entertain You.
In the grand tradition of private clubs — from New York City’s Union Club to San Francisco’s Bohemian Club to the recently rebranded ’Quin House in Boston — these exclusive clubstaurants require not only cash but status.
“Restaurants began as places to show off status,” said Andrew P. Haley, an associate professor of history at the University of Southern Mississippi. Generally, this took place in public, where discerning diners could be seen demonstrating their discernment.
The members-only clubstaurant, on the other hand, confers another kind of status, suggested Megan J. Elias, the director of the gastronomy program at Boston University: “You can be a connoisseur among a very small number of connoisseurs.”
Mr. Saed said he’s not surprised that access is being monetized.
“Part of it tracks to the types of people that are renting in New York now,” he said. “With rents pushing over $4,000 to $5,000, I think that the proportion of people that are living here that have the discretionary income to spend are kind of more here.”
Still other restaurants — the public kind — are leaning into patronage-style programs, aiming to give certain customers premier access, while remaining open to the rest of us.
Under normal circumstances, it can take weeks or months to get into Dame, the West Village fish-and-chips sensation. But there is a workaround: Front of House, a platform designed to help restaurants sell “digital collectibles,” also known as NFTs, that grant holders special access.
Instead of lining up at 4:30 p.m. on a Monday, the one day Dame takes walk-in diners, a devoted diner could pay $1,000, which buys them the ability, with at least 24 hours notice, to book a table once a week through the end of 2022. (20 such tokens have been created; 11 have been sold so far.)
Stephanie Dumanian, a cosmetic dentist in Manhattan and a fan of the restaurant, was trying without success to make a reservation for her husband’s birthday when she found Front of House. She bought a token in July, and has been three times since. “It’s been great,” she said. “I feel like I’m supporting a local business.”
Colin Camac, a co-founder of Front of House, said the platform is simply expediting intimacy.
“I think one of the best things in the world is going into a place just like Cheers, where everybody knows your name, where they know what you like, where your martini is sitting there as soon as you walk in,” said Mr. Camac, who is also a regional director at Resy. “It’s an easier way to be part of that community if you don’t have the time to really invest in it.” In other words, anyone can be a regular, for a price.
“It’s kind of a trade secret in the concierge space that you have to build relationships, and spend a lot of time doing it, in order to deliver these very hard to get reservations,” said Peter Adams, the founder of Table Concierge.
His start-up is for people with money but not time, and a would-be diner doesn’t actually have to be a regular to get treated like one. “You could do this on your own,” he said, but he streamlines the process so you don’t have to wake up at 8 a.m. or book at midnight.”
For a price — usually $50 per reservation per person, but it depends on the difficulty — Mr. Adams works his connections to open doors that appear closed to the rest of us. (White glove service means he will go as far as going to a restaurant in person to negotiate on a client’s behalf.)
With a week or so warning, he puts his success rate at 90 percent. You want Lilia? He’ll get you Lilia, nevermind what Resy says. “We can get you in anywhere other than Rao’s,” he said of the exclusive Italian restaurant in East Harlem.
Though he added: “But if you want to give me $10,000, I can find a way to get you into Rao’s.”

The Hierarchies and Organizational Systems of Angband Addition Two: The Kitchens And Food
Angband world building and aftermath of captivity masterlist
The Hierarchies and Organizational Systems of Angband Continuation Part One: The Mines
And finally I have a post about food and complex trauma in The Silmarillion and Histories . This will explore the psychological and medical aspects of what’s described here in more detail.
(none of these have to be read, they just add more information!)
And as always Angband world building and world building/lore in general is a special interest of mine! Always feel free to ask questions!
The kitchens of Angband are a chaotic, messy place. Meals for the majority of the prisoners are made up of stews and gruel of an amalgamation of collected and stolen ingredients which are brewed and delivered, occasionally along with stale breads.
There are about sixty elves in the main kitchens, branded with the first letter of the word for kitchen in Angband’s language. They’re usually sent there if a, one of the overseers has requested more prisoners, b, they’re needed alive or in something resembling decent condition but couldn’t be in the mines (for any number of reasons), or occasionally through random switched assignments which sometimes occur to further disorient prisoners.
Twenty orcs oversee the kitchens where food for prisoners and the majority of the orcish soldiers and servants are prepared
The tasks there are repetitive and painful, stirring and scrubbing as well as sorting through inventory. They are overseen by several orcs, some of which are familiar with the order of the kitchens, some of whom are not and are merely familiar with the ways prisoners are handled and punished.
Though there is less punishments from the few who oversee these jobs than there are in the mines, they are nonetheless extremely unpleasant. Standing for long hours with no rest and with relief for blisters and bruises from the endless tasks.
These elves sleep in the several large communal areas overseen by orcs lower in their own hierarchy unless they have been defiant in which case are usually isolated. The common areas (I’ll go into more detail if you want) are bare chambers with a few sheets per dozen or so elves though as stated previously there are many black market and token systems in place that might spread resources beyond official rules.
Ingredients are sourced more variety of places. Most food for the prisoners is made up of a hodgepodge of whatever happens to be on hand including spare supplies taken from captured elves upon arrival as well as gathered and created throughout the fortress
It is worth noting that the knowledge of the cultivation of yeast does allow for bread to be made though what is offered to the prisoners is often stale and flavorless
Meat usually salted to store, sparse plant and fungal matter, and basic bread are the most common categories
I do have this post here on flora and animals raised for food in Angband too
Many food related jobs inn Angband do not involve actual cooking but rather gathering, storing, organizing and serving food. These are completed by about forty to seventy elves with thirty orc overseers as well as one of Sauron’s own assistants
They are branded with the equivalent of a miscellaneous organization and gathering symbol which is the first letter of a word meaning something like ‘systems’. Prisoners who collect and sort/distribute water and other non edible materials also have this mark.
There are other places where food for the more important is prepared and served that are overseen by a few lesser Maiar and occasionally assisted by elves. The elves here are usually older prisoners who have gained what passes for privileges within the fortress The elves who are tasked with the important preparations typically another brand as well as the kitchen’s one. This second one is common with prisoners who have, willingly or otherwise, gained any sort of status, privileges or higher positions though a small number were chosen for relevant knowledge or experience prior to their capture
Theft of food is so harshly punished that it is extremely rare. Despite the high levels of starvation, meals in Angband are associated with such fear and dread as prisoners line up and are inspected again and again to ensure they have only taken their rations. And as punishments are often doled out to groups, it’s strongly discouraged among the prisoners and leads to social consequences as well.
Finally, it’s worth noting, as I talked about on my post on the psychological aspects, food is used as a weapon of control and punishment in a variety of ways. Food being restricted or withheld is perhaps the most common method but force feeding including under heavy restraint, food only being given as a reward for performing a degrading task or on the condition of a form of degradation (eating off the ground, or worse, etc), and being forced to ingest harmful or unpleasant substances among other things are all also commonplace. Likewise extra portions of food, better quality food and other rewards are highly useful methods of control. Starvation induces desperation
As always I have way too many thoughts on this and can’t possibly get down everything so please feel free to ask more!
I’m going to do the forges next!

Minis Gazeteer: Fungi
Being an overview of various fungus minis available for your 28mm RPG.
I was actually surprised at the lack of weird fungus creatures. For D&D, aside from Myconids, you usually get Violet Fungus and Shriekers, and that’s….that’s about all there is. Let’s cover those first, anyway. And let’s be honest — there’s nothing spectacularly different about anyone’s violet fungus or shrieker minis that set them apart from anyone else. Here is Reaper’s Bones Black version of the violet fungus:
And their Shrieker:
Here’s the Pathfinder version, the “Purple Fungus” (links to an ebay listing).
Any particular reason to prefer one over the other? Not really. You could even make your own pretty easily by following DM Scotty’s directions.
With that out of the way, let’s talk Mushroom Folk. They come by a variety of names. The unfortunate thing is that mushroom-folk tend to be really cartoonish. Indeed, you may as well use the nearest Nintendo Toad or Toadette or even Goomba minifig as use most available minis. I’m going to save myself and you a lot of time and only mention the ones that stand out to me. The official D&D version are the Myconids, and honestly the WizKids Myconids are some of the better mushroom folk minis around. They avoid most of the cartoony pitfalls, they have lots of little details that make them fun to paint. They are inexpensive (like most WizKids minis). Solid.
After the WizKids version, things start to turn Toadish rather quickly. However, I would recommend checking out a couple others as well, including:
Otherworld Miniatures’ myconids,
Krakon Games’ Mykelings
Mirliton SG’s Fungoid
Song of Blades’ Fightin’ Fungi line, which is a mixed bag but has some winners.
You can find a few others on this thread over at randomplatypus, but a few of the links don’t work at the above are mostly the best I’ve been able to find.
One last stop for our Mushroom Folk category, is the Fungus Queen, Zuggtmoy. The official Gale Force 9 mini is really all you’d ever want for it:
Reaper also has a Fungus Queen, which takes it in a different direction. I suppose they could both be aspects of Zuggtmoy?
If you want your bard to seduce a mushroom demon, I guess.
Moving on from mushroom folk, we come to Mushroom Beasts. Here we have some more variation and creativity. Let’s start with this 54mm “Myconid” by A Villain’s Lair, available as a 3d Printed mini from Shapeways. (I have tried to stay away from 3d Printable minis for this guide, since i don’t have access to a 3d Printer, but apparently Shapeways prints the items for you? I’m not sure.) I know this is called a myconid, but it’s going to be too big to use as a standard mushroom guy, and looks-wise, it’s not going to be something you parlay with in a darkened alleyway.
Pathfinder has a couple good fungal creatures, including this Ghost Fungus:
See also this undead-ish “Fungal Guardian“:
(The Song of Blades line that I linked to above also has some fungal zombies if you want to go this route.) WizKids has another take on a fungal zombie as well, this time from their DND Ravnica line, the Fungus Drudge. I have not seen one in person, but all the pictures I’ve see make me very iffy on the paint job of this one:
Another MtG: Ravnica mini, which I like a bit better, is the Saproling. It’s not my favorite version of the saproling from the card game (I like the more recent tokens with bright colors) but it serves as a smaller fungal beasty:
(I actually bought a couple of the saproling minis, and I think they go very well with the WizKids shambling mound mini -- they look like very small mounds themselves, or perhaps the mound looks like a giant saproling. Either way.)
Moving on, Epic Salvatore Creations has this Phantom Fungus:
I’m sure there must be some other fungal monsters out there, but these were the few I was able to come up with so far. I have a couple other left-field non-standard suggestions before we’re quite through, though. The first is, the Mi-Go. These are monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos, and are from the planet Yuggoth, and are fungal creatures. They’d fit in perfectly but be a surprising addition.
Reaper has a great Mi-Go:
Pathfinder has a Mi-Go as well:
The Dust minis game has Mi-Go with ray guns!
The board game Mansions of Madness includes two Mi-Go minis which are pulling brains out of human heads!
Other Mi-Go minis you might want to check out:
Fenris Games
Black Cat Bases
EM4 Miniatures
The Ancient Evil miniatures
RAFM
Modiphius’ Achtung! Cthulhu
All right, that’s all the “official” fungus minis I have to talk about. Here’s one more item, though: a while back, I postulated that perhaps — just perhaps — unicorns were just horses that had been infected by a fungal parasite, much like the cordyceps fungus. And that their horns were just parasitic extrusions. This idea had been touched on previously, apparently, by Charles Stross in his short story “Equoid”. Given this idea, I think a few undead unicorn minis would fit in with this list. (Really, if you want to mess with your players, you could just a cordyceps extrusion onto virtually any other mini to make a fungal parasite variant of it. Take it to the extreme: have a dungeon where everything is infected, it’s all one fungal organism.)
So here is an undead unicorn mini:
“Flaming Undead Unicorn” by Stonehaven Miniatures
And here is one more (Chromatiz from Zombicide)
There we go. Have I missed anything important?

Dominaria - Black
From Blue to Black, let’s see what the Cabal has for it’s loyal followers!
My Top 3 picks:
Cast Down
Grade: A-
Home: Any Black Deck
Range: Very Wide
Like Doom Blade and Go for the Throat before it, Cast Down joins the hallowed ranks of 1B conditional (but not really) instant removal spells.
Grab 7 of these.
Phyrexian Scriptures
Ugh, someone got blood all over my alter. It’ll never wash out.
Grade: B+
Home: GY Hate, Artifact Decks
Range: Wide
We’ve got it all - Artifact conversion (haven’t seen that since Ashnod’s Transmorgant), Board Wipe, and GY hate, in three easy turns. One of the most interesting mythics we’ve seen thus far. Even with the weakness of Saga’s - people seeing them coming - most players welcome a board wipe every now and then, so unless this gets taken out the round it comes down, BOOM, new board.
And we’ve got a lovely Phi symbol sneaking in the background. Wonder how that infected artifact plane is doing...
Yawgmoth’s Vile Offering
Grade: B
Home: GY Decks, Any Black deck
Range: Wide
Unfortunately, due to the order of effects, you can’t kill something and steal it, but that’s hardly something to worry about. The Legendary hoop of these Sorceries is more worrying to me.
Killing something is worth 2 mana at Sorc Speed in black, and Resurrection without downsides is probably worth 3-4 mana. Entwining the effects is probably worth another 1 mana, so this is a pretty fair card given it needs a Legendary and Exiles itself. Any deck can use it well, but Entomb decks use it more reliably, and I love reliability over anything else.
Blessing of Belzenlok
Grade: F
Home: N/A
Range: N/A
I miss Unholy Strength now. Combat trick version is just bad.
Cabal Evangel
Grade: D-
Home: Cleric Tribal
Range: Very Narrow
Bog-standard Limited filler.
Sweet flavor, for those followers of Belzenlok reading this.
Cabal Paladin
Grade: C
Home: Artifact Combo
Range: Very Narrow
Can combo infinite to take out Hexproofed opponents. Mirran Spy, Banishing Knack/Retraction Helix, cheerio artifact. But there’s other options out there that are easier, or more brutal.
Caligo Skin-Witch
Grade: D-
Home: Discard
Range: Very Narrow
2 mana for garbage, or 6 mana for “everyone else discard 2.” Solid potential in discard, but I think Dark Deal and Unnerve do a better job, as the body is lame.
Chainer’s Torment
Grade: C-
Home: LG Deck
Range: Narrow
Mild damage.
Mild damage.
Giant monster.
Do it for the meme.
Dark Bargain
Dormammu. I come to bargain.
Grade: C
Home: Any black deck, GY deck
Range: Wide
Few black Instants involve drawing, and they’re usually like Altar’s Reap. This card lets you choose the best two out of three, for double the mana. Instead of a sac, you take 2 damage, but who cares!
Landing something in the GY can work to your benefit, drawing 2 is nice. It’s like a cousin of Ambition’s Cost at instant.
Deathbloom Thallid
Grade: D-
Home: Fungus/Saproling Tribal,
Range: Narrow
Body’s skinny for a 3 drop, feels like a Penumbra creature balanced for today. A three drop should probably be more than just slightly underpowered and sticky.
Demonic Vigor
Grade: C-
Home: Death Triggers?
Range: Narrow
Nice little cheap recursion, a passable usable Aura. Nice commander tax dodge, if that’s a problem.
Divest
Grade: F+
Home: Discard?
Range: Very Narrow
Another cousin of Duress. I’ve always had a fondness for B Sorcery discard spells, they’ve always had a flavorful effect of “mind ripping” that Black Mages seem fond of.
That said, this is garbage, even in the worst Creature/Artifact meta.
Dread Shade
Grade: D
Home: MonoBlack Swamp Ramp
Range: Very Narrow
A shade?
I actually like Shades, but they never do well in EDH. Play one on Turn X, pump it with X+1 mana next turn, and wham, tons of damage. Suffers like most of the CCC cycle (like the damn Blue Djinn) with the EDH scaling problem.
Drudge Sentinels
Grade: F
Home: N/A
Range: N/A
Ah, Drudge Skeletons, this is what has become of you.
Brutally overcosted in CMC and ability cost. A sorry successor to an Iconic card of Magic’s history.
Eviscerate
Grade: F
Home: N/A
Range: N/A
Never thought I’d miss Murder. Limited and Standard has been controlling the removal introduced to the game - reasonable, given the game has been going on 25 years of slow power creep.
Unfortunately, it’s useless for our purposes.
Feral Abomination
Grade: D+
Home: Any Black Deck
Range: Very Wide
Fatties above 4 power don’t really need deathtouch - they should be able to kill things with raw size. With that said, I’m not complaining. This guy is big enough to stomp any small stuff, as well as remain a threat to a 30/30 creature.
But at the same CMC, look instead to Grave Titan, Harvester of Souls, Soul of Innistrad, Sidisi Undead Vizier or Hythonia the Cruel, all around better choices.
Final Parting
Buckle up kids, we’re going on a feels trip.
Grade: C
Home: Any Black Deck, GY decks
Range: Wide
Entomb stitched to Diabolic Tutor could only have a home in EDH. Solid workhorse of a card, if not a spectacular.
Fungal Infection
Grade: F+
Home: Saproling Tribal
Range: Very Narrow
Saproling Tribal’s equivalent of Darkblast. Feels like something out of Lorwyn block.
Knight of Malice
♪ Fighting hard, fighting on for the steel / Through the wastelands evermore ♪
Grade: D
Home: Knight Tribal, Anti White
Range: Narrow
Black Knight rides again.
Hexproof is the new Protection, making it way easier to understand. Ironically, the two knights can now trade instead of being unable to fight each other. Ah, time marches on.
Lich’s Mastery
Grade: B
Home: Horcrux.dec, Pillowfort Deck, Combo Deck, Token Deck, LG deck
Range: Average
Good luck killing me now Harry, I have another Horcrux!
I just wanna make a trolling deck that’s impossible to kill, just more and more Lich spells.
A good option to keep yourself alive for another turn or two, especially if you have a GY or tokens to feed it.
LG makes good use of going from this into combo, but there’s a non-zero chance of drawing yourself out with Beacon and the like, so count your cards.
Lingering Phantom
Grade: D
Home: Historic. Recursion
Range: Narrow
While self recurring spells are nice, this offers a poorly priced body, with cheap recursion. Much like Deathless Ancient of recent Ixalan block, it depends on the deck. Might have nominal usage in decks that need something to discard constantly.
Repeatable discard or playable creature is interesting, but not that powerful. I think I’ll stick with Reassembling Skeleton or Sanitarium Skeleton for my self-recurring needs, as they have less activation hoops to jump through.
Rat Colony
Grade: C+
Home: Rat Tribal, Whatever Relentless does
Range: Narrow
Relentless Rats, except top heavy and cheap!
Get 20 of them if they end up cheaper than Relentless (which is still <$2).
For everyone else, grab a Tsavo’s Decree or Kindred Dominance to do something about all these darn rats.
Rite of Belzenlok
Grade: D+
Home: Demon Tribal, Sac Effects
Range: Very Narrow
Make your own Lord of the Pit. Nice to have Clerics for saccing to anything you need, and while a 6/6 Flying Trampler is nice, 6 damage to the face isn’t nearly as bad here as it is in any other format.
The real problem is how bloody slow it is, and the possibility that a turn 6 demon isn’t big enough to be worth it.
Settle the Score
Grade: C-
Home: Black Superfriends (Atraxa?)
Range: Very Narrow
Unexpected PW synergy from Black.
And it’s like a hundred time better than Impale at the same cost. Everyone can use exile removal, sorc sucks but is workable.
Soul Savage
Grade: D-
Home: Any Black Deck
Range: Very Wide
Kinda feels like Death’s Duet.
I’d recommend Death Denied instead, it’s instant, and can scale like crazy. I think it works in most EDH decks instead.
Stronghold Confessor
Confessor? That’s what they’re called now?
Grade: D-
Home: Any Black Deck, Piracy
Range: Wide
Meh as a 1 drop, meh as a 4 drop.
Menace and counters don’t make it that useful.
Thallid Omnivore
Grade: D-
Home: Tokens, Sac Deck
Range: Average
Man, fungi love killing their buddies.
It does a Blood Bairn impression, assuming you’re willing to pay. Still, paying for sacrifices that only have temporary benefits? Meh.
Thallid Soothsayer
Grade: D
Home: Sac Decks, Token Decks
Range: Average
WOOHOO a Thallid!
For all 80 of you playing Fungi tribal, it’s an alternate for Carnage Altar.
The Eldest Reborn
Grade: B-
Home: Black Goodstuff, Discard decks, Res/steal decks
Range: Average
Pact. Discard. Steal
Fun saga. CMC’s a pain, but immediate removal helps, and it scales well to EDH.
Vicious Offering
Grade: B-
Home: Sac Decks
Range: Wide
A nice removal with an option. Simple card that’ll probably be in a sac-oriented Commander deck one day.
Windgrace Acolyte
Grade: F
Home: N/A
Range: N/A
Holy hannah, a mono black good guy? That fights the Cabal! Wow!
Filling your yard is better than milling, nominal lifegain is okay, and the body is pathetic. Filler.
See ya soon campers!
Found an image for Monoblack campfire! It’s all the rage in Demon Vogue!

Sega goes back to the NFT plans following the return
Published by BANG Showbiz English Sega is backsliding on their idea of donating NFTs. The makers of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ intended to offer non-fungal tokens – a game component that serves as a one-size-fits-all trading card and to a higher extent a share of Ethereum revenue – but now claim to have “started several courses” in the field. , “Nothing has been decided at this time.” In an…

Ethereum 2.0 Usage Is Now 54x Times Than Bitcoin – Network Suffers Outrage.
Ethereum (ETH) has been experiencing outrage at work, which has led to rising prices. The second-largest cryptocurrency rose 11.31% in the last 24 hours to $3,525 USD for the day, as per coinmarketcap.
As the battle for the neck and neck between Bitcoin and Ethereum continues, the latter has emerged as a winner. Damian Sowers, the founder of Level Frames, acknowledged that “The use of ETH is now 54X BTC”.
High usage can be explained by the fact that Ethereum has more usage charges than Bitcoin. For example, ETH has emerged as the backbone of various sectors such as the non-fungal token (NFT) and distributed funds (DeFi), which have seen growing growth in the crypto space.
For example, the DeFi industry is a multi-billion dollar industry because it was recently priced at $ 81.85 billion.
In addition, Ethereum repaired a $ 6.2 trillion transaction over the past 12 months. “Ethereum has settled $6.2 trillion in transactions in the previous 12 months,” said Ryan Watkins, a researcher at Messari Crypto. Thanks to a solid Q3 in which Ethereum was valued at $1.5 trillion, this figure is up 369 percent from 2020.”Depending on the strength of the IntoTheBlock data:
“The Ethereum 2.0 agreement has become the main manager of ETH. There are now 7.84 million ETH, implying that the contract grew at a daily rate of 23,442 Ether, with 51,200 unique addresses.”
The total locked key in ETH 2.0 has just reached its peak (ATH) as more investment continues to flow.
Launched in December 2020, Ethereum 2.0 is seen as a stepping-stone to the process of concordance evidence (POS) from the current framework of evidence (POW).
Instead of solving a cryptographic puzzle, the POS technique provides for more robust block authentication by requiring authenticators to have Ether. As a result, sharding is likely to increase distribution.
