Some Puerto Ricans are of African descent (thanks to interracial relationships with the slaves were left stranded ) but most of y’all are Indigenous natives or descendants of the Spanish colonizers.
So with that being said… everybody that live on the island is not part black, there’s a difference between Ethnicity & Nationality.
And let’s be real there’s A LOT of colorism and causal racism in the Hispanic community towards Black people. A lot of “I no black papi”. A lot of romanizing of the word Moreno/Morena (which literally means brown/dark skinned but not of the negro race).
If you don’t Proudly claim to be an
Afro Latino
Ladino
Bozales
Criollos
Negrito
(Whatever term you wanna use to describe a black hispanic person) all the time then No you don’t needa be sayin the N word.

Not to mention uncomfortable with the thought of Blackness cause Black Asians do indeed exist and even then, if you assume that every darker skinned edit or drawing of an anime is Black and immediately have a knee jerk reaction to that which makes you go out of your way to be anti-Black, you definitely hold anti-Black sentiments and or views and ideologies. Whether you realize this or not (or want to for that matter).
a lot of the time when ppl try to argue against darkening a character's skin by claiming asian erasure i don't think they actually care abt asian erasure LOL they just don't like acknowledging that dark skinned asians exist

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐌 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝟏𝟏; 𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐌𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘
hi! this post has been on my mind for a very long time, and with a possible hunger games resurgence underway, i want to address the not-so savoury and digestable bits about collin's writing, including her characterizations of black individuals within the trilogy.
first of all; district 11 is described as a large district, with its population mainly being black, or at least people of color. this is shown in the movie adaptations, and the several characters we meet throughout the series.
(rue, chaff and seeder's descriptions, but thresh, too.)
(depiction of district 11's population in the movie adaptation of catching fire.)
𝐬𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦?
genuinely? the characterization of these individuals, such as chaff and thresh (both black males specifically.) the portrayal of both characters being a threat in size and combat, which is also often a microaggressive stereotype tied to black men.
(effie's reaction to the 75th's reaping & her snide comment against chaff, catching fire + thresh killing clove/sparing katniss, the hunger games.)
of course, i won't downplay thresh's kindness in his sacrifice of sparing katniss, but the display of his brutality paired with his decent & race does not look good (considering that the hunger games is written by a white woman!) and to me, will always come across as uncomfortable. even his speech makes him seem uneducated, more brawn than any brain, and that's also a heavy misconception when it comes to black men/boys/etc. i can see where suzanne tried to balance it out, but it doesn't work well in the slightest.
furthermore, we have to talk about the state of district 11 as a whole.
agriculture/farming as the role for one of the largest districts if not THE largest, seems innocent by itself. but then you have the treatment of its citizens, the way the population is worked, and the overall uneasiness of it.
(rue's experience in 11, the hunger games + katniss’ description of the district, catching fire.)
public whippings, senseless cruelty towards again, a WIDELY black populated district and their continual work on fields/in harvests all speak to remnants of slavery and pastimes taken place within the era of slavery. if suzanne collins was trying to make a point, or mock the treatment of this minority through a portrayal in her book as a white woman, she missed the mark POORLY. having the BLACK citizens, including women, children and men all working out in the fields? disgusting. beyond incomprehensible.
hoarding a minority in one district is crazy work too, because we barely hear about any other black characters minus paylor, beetee, and potentially cinna. and the fact that in katniss' eyes, 11 is treated perhaps the worst? says a lot.
𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭?
truthfully, i'm bringing awareness to my discomfort as a black teen/general black individual because this isn't just something you should brush past. you should see the treatment of these characters and condemn it. i see next to no posts about the blatant racism towards black people/poc in the hunger games and also within the fandom. this has been swept under the rug over and over and blatantly, I'm tired.
collins perpetuates the suffering of district 11 in historical and supposedly educational ways, but that doesn't make it okay for her to do so. as a white woman, collins abuses the usage of racial stereotypes with examples of district 11 men, the culture, their work, but also a wider environment than just 11, such as district 12 too (with the perpetuation of gale.)
#before you tell me “this is a stretch!” PLEASE read the post. literally read and research if anything#because this isn't something to be argued about#you should listen and hear black voices and understand where I'm coming from with this#because having thg as my special interest means a lot to me#but i will not ignore it's problematic bits for the sake of keeping peace and tranquility within a pretty ignorant fandom#the hunger games#the hunger games trilogy#thg#catching fire#mockingjay#rue barnette#rue thg#seeder thg#chaff thg#thresh thg#please don't argue with me in reblogs/tags/comments either. especially if you're non poc because i simply do not care#and please treat this post with the respect and kindness it deserves. i see my non-serious posts get from 20-50+ likes at least#so prioritize this just as much as you would any other post of mine

#visenya targaryen. || visage.#daenerys targaryen. || visage.#( alt. )#thinking about Them#d.any & her moon of my life vibes & her lunar imagery !!!!#bc atp if the velaryons are black in the show & d.aenerys has martell dayne & blackwood heritage?? she's Very mixed poc atp#iirc daenerys & viserys & rhaegar are like. what 1/10th targaryen as aegon & co. they're not even full targaryen or w/e that means lmao#so i interpret daenerys is being like. HEAVILY mixed. like. white black native desi latina & visenya is half black.#hence the alts !!#bc i interpret the blackwoods as indigenous / first nations coded; betha blackwood was an indigenous queen of westeros#bc remember daenerys has non-targaryen heritage too. the daynes of starfall through dyanna dayne mother of aegon v who i interpret as desi.#the martells of sunspear through myriah martell mother of maekar i & i personally interpret the martells to be very mixed desi latine coded#the arryns of the eyrie through aemma arryn mother of rhaenyra i targaryen who were hella white.#house blackwood of raventree hill through betha blackwood mother of jaeherys ii & shaera targaryen who i personally interpret as indigenous#house massey of stonedance through alarra massey grandmother of jaehaerys i & alyssane targaryen who i interpret to be mixed indigenous.#house rogare of lys through larra rogare of lys mother of aegon iv & naerys targaryen.#& finally house velaryon of driftmark through valaena velaryon the mother of aegon i visenya & rhaenys targaryen#& on TOP of that alyssa velaryon mother of jaehaerys i & alyssane targaryen. who in the show the velaryons are canonically black.#like. can you imagine how insane & powerful it would be seeing a mixed girl of color go from a timid abuse victim to becoming a dragon quee#a BEAUTIFUL & POWERFUL dragon queen who rides dragons & ends slavery?? the whole mhysa scene?? that'd be fucking insanity#& on TOP of that she's a CONQUEROR almost taking on a genghis khan role so if she DOES conquer westeros ?? she'd technically be an EMPRESS#but the predominantly white fandom doesnt wanna hear that so lmao#& also my daenerys is allied with the velaryons & the celtigars who're mixed east asian - valyrian & yitish mixed.#betha blackwood was her great grandmother; dyanne dayne her great great grandmother & myriah martell is her great great great grandmother !#larra rogare is her great(x5) grandmother; aemma arryn is her great (x7) grandmother ! idk i just think its neat lmaoooo#& not to mention even if the targaryens are white originally later on down the lines especially they'd be VERY mixed even w/ the inbreeding

I usually avoid posting my own opinions, but I've seen a few posts like the one in the screenshot below creep across my feed lately and they're bugging me too much to keep my mouth shut. I censored the identity of this particular example because I don't want to start a Tumblr war or make them feel like I'm singling them out or attacking them.
I don't feel good about celebrating black history month through a character who was both written and performed by a white man. I know this is all just low-stakes fandom headcanon stuff and I'm not trying to control what other people do, but something feels not-quite-right about taking a character played by a white VA and deciding (on his behalf might I add) that he's black and using him as your example of black representation in the audio rp fandom.
There are black VAs out there, they can represent themselves. I really think it's disingenuous to sort through a cast of characters all played by the same white guy and assign POC races to them in order to give a singular white guy's one-man show racial diversity, then celebrate said "diversity".
Sorry, I'm not trying to be a Tumblr drama queen. If you're the person from the screenshot (or have posted something similar), I don't think you meant any harm. Your post probably wasn't meant to be that deep and not the worst thing in the world, but I don't know why you would pick a random character written and performed by a white guy and cheer "Rahhh, let's celebrate black history month with this!". If it really matters to you, you can celebrate a black VA, or a canonically black character, or even just a listener character that you/others HC as black. You can celebrate fan artists and writers who are black.
Why use characters played by Redacted for this? I promise I'm not trying to start a fight, or accuse people who've made posts like this of being racist or cancel anyone. I don't think they mean badly. But I see this a lot even outside of the context of BHM. It's almost always with characters written/performed by Redacted and it's always made me a little uneasy, especially with the amount of enthusiasm people throw onto the race they decided to HC for this one white man's characters.
If you disagree with me, I'm open to hearing you out. I don't want to try and dictate what people can/can't do in a fandom space or send a mob after anyone, but something feels off to me about using Redacted characters to celebrate BHM.
-Ringmaster
#I hope I don't accidentally start a tumblr war and regret this#but POC don't need to be represented by white actors#I'd rather celebrate actual black characters and black creators#just accept that you aren't going to get diverse racial representation from a series where the same white guy is playing absolutely everyon#redacted audio#black history month#BHM#not a callout post#please don't witch-hunt anyone#but seriously there are black VAs out there if black representation is important to you#some are very under-rated and could actually use a shoutout right now#there are also non-black VAs who collab with black people and have actual diverse representation in their casts#also how do you hear Erik's voice and think “that's my black king right there”#redacted fandom#audio roleplay#boyfriend asmr

ahem, taps mic....
lesbianism is not a quota to fill. lesbianism is not what you do. it is innate; it is who you are.
a lesbian is a woman or lesbian aligned nonbinary person who is exclusively attracted to women and non-man aligned nonbinary people.
you fit that? you're a lesbian!
lesbian sexuality is so profoundly beautiful and diverse and powerful. it is boundless, limitless and abundant. it is joyous and overflowing with glory and strength.
take pride, lesbians. we are the best.
