Elves with long hair!
Like we all know that all elves (at least in movies, idk about the books) have long hair, regardless of gender.
But what if, hair symbolises how long you have lived. Shows your wisdom. Finwës hair was dragging behind him when he died despite having cut it to his shoulders after Miriel died.
Fëanors was constantly kept at middle of his back, symbolising his constant grief for his mother.
Fingolfins hair was close to dragging on the floor when he faced Morgoth. All of it was carefully braided by the hands of Fingon a few days prior.
Maedhros' hair was a little lower than his waist before Sauron cut it off entirely.
Fingons was mostly kept short on the ice because it would freeze and weight him down but if he continued to grow it he would had it to his knees when he reached Beleriand.
Turgon had his hair kept past his waist as a symbol of his grief but one not without joy. When he died his hair had been burnt to his shoulders.
Celebrimbor never answered the questions of how long was his hair because then he would have to admit to having cut it (not entirety short, just enough he would feel it but others would not see it) when his father and uncles died at Doriah.
Elronds hair was just reaching his knees when he cut it for his brothers death. When Celebrian sailed he once again cut it, this time to his middle-back because there could be a reunion in the future. When he finally sailed his hair was touching his ankles.
Gil-Galad kept his hair to his knees, and always dogged the questions of it's length. He truly did not want to explain why he kept his hair so short.

Noldor Hair Headcanons (3/4)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | On AO3
Some lighter Kidnap Fam content, after the downhill freefall that was the last chapter. With a dash of Finrod in Valinor.
Elrond and Elros have never had their hair braided when they end up with Maedhros and Maglor.
They don’t realize what they’re asking when Elros grabs a hairbrush and puts it in Maglor’s hand.
Maglor understands that, but decides that the twins need parental care, even though he has no right. He brushes their hair and leaves it loose at first.
But the twins have watched Maglor braid Maedhros’s hair and they soon start asking for more interesting hairstyles.
Eventually Maglor explains to them that it can only be done by family.
The twins have a whole silent conversation.
“What does it take to be family?” Elros asks eventually.
Well, braiding an unrelated child’s hair is pretty close to informal adoption.
Elros forces the brush into Maglor’s hand again.
Maglor stares.
Elrond shakes his head and runs out.
Of course, Elrond must hate them. He has every right. Sure, Elros has started to warm up to them, but that’s just because he’s affection-starved, probably. They’re still kidnappers.
Maglor is about to put down the brush and try to refuse when Elrond comes back.
He’s holding a second hairbrush.
He hands it to Maedhros expectantly.
Maedhros cries.
Maglor cries.
The twins’ hair really doesn’t hold braids very well, and they’re still kids who run around and play, but damn them if Maglor and Maedhros aren’t going to do their best.
Now all of their people can see that the twins are well-loved.
Maedhros and Maglor also proudly sport a few clumsy, wonky braids each.
They’re less wonky with time, and eventually the twins are doing their fathers’ (kidnappers’) hair as often as not.
Finrod is reembodied shortly before Eärendil and Elwing gets to Valinor. It’s too early and he’s Not Doing Well. While in Middle Earth, he was the one who let basically every one of his friends braid his hair, now he can’t stand the thought of someone touching him that way.
But Beleriandic battle braids feel wrong in Tirion. And he’s desperately trying to reckon with his trauma, with Sauron defeating him by singing about the kinslaying, so he can’t leave his hair loose like the Teleri.
And he can’t quite get the sight of Edrahil’s bloody braids spat out by a werewolf out of his head.
He wears nothing but the very strange-looking (to Amanyar) Mourning Braids he designed after Dagor Bragollach for a couple of years.
Then after an episode of really bad depression and nearly fading, he cuts his hair short.
No-braiding-possible kind of short.
While not unheard of in Beleriand (sometimes former thralls keep their hair very short, like Rog), it’s unthinkable in Valinor, especially for the Crown Prince of the Noldor.
He is stared at a lot, his reputation goes down the drain, but to Finrod it’s liberating.
He does let his hair grow out again eventually, but only when other Exiles start coming back and choose to keep the Beleriandic braid styles, and it becomes a fashion statement rather than a mark of shame.
Finarfin is Very Shocked arriving in Beleriand when he finds his (single remaining) child with her hair loose and everyone else with weird self-braided battle hairstyles.
After a battle or three where he ends up with his hair matted with blood and mud, he caves and gets Galadriel to give him battle braids.
By the end of the war he’s even learned to do them himself! Let it not be said that King Arafinwë Ñoldóran didn’t rise to his calling.
The night before sending the Elrond and Elros to Gil-galad, Maedhros and Maglor undo all of their braids. Everyone cries.
Maedhros and Maglor meant this to minimize the ‘taint’ their names would put on the twins, by making it look like they were still hostages to the end, but the twins stop on the way to do each other’s hair because one does not meet a king with their hair loose, they have manners (which the Fëanorians taught them, so they’re Very Specific Manners), so the effect is lost. Gil-galad has Questions. The twins refuse to lie.
Then, before going to steal the Silmarils, Maedhros and Maglor do each other’s hair, in a style of their father’s that they haven’t worn since the Oath.
Maglor braids a single golden ribbon into Maedhros’s hair.
They have very few pieces of hair jewellery left of their brothers’, but they use all of them.
They both know it’s the last time.
To be continued
I did some sketches for visual reference of a few of the hairstyles mentioned here, if you want to see what I'm imagining!

Hair Headcanons for Finwe and his Kids:
Finwe: as discussed, Finwe's hair is always perfect. He rolls out of bed in the morning and it's immaculately wavy with no tangles or snarls, even if he left jewelry in it (which happens pretty often). It's also very shiny and iridescent, with his black hair lighting up in all the colors of the northern lights depending on the angle and lighting. The originator of the Finwean Hair Magic™️ all his descendants inherited.
Feanor: iridescent hair that shines in the color of raven feathers– a lot like Finwe, but slightly less shiny. Because of Finwean Hair Magic™️, even though his hair is very long, and often not bound very well in the forges, he's never gotten his hair burned or caught on anything. He keeps his hair even longer than most Noldor so he can do the fanciest traditional braiding styles.
Findis: inherited her mother Indis's blond hair, but it's also very shiny, looking more like actual gold than the Vanyar blond hair her mother has. Under Laurelin or sunlight, it often shimmers a more rosy color. Later in the Second Age, she was given the nickname Andune (sunset) because of how beautiful the pink and orange highlights are.
Fingolfin: during the Years of the Trees, he has his father's black hair, but while it is very shiny (and always perfectly styled) it is not iridescent. After the Helcaraxe, his hair is run through with silver and white streaks, which everyone agrees makes him look very regal and kingly. The streaks stay even after he's reembodied, and become something of a fashion statement among others who crossed the Helcaraxe, who bleach parts of their own hair to match.
Lalwen: her hair is dark brown instead of black, but is nearly as iridescent as Finwe's, with all the same colors. She also continues in his footsteps of wearing it partly down dangerous hikes and hunts, and just like Finwe, she never trips on it or gets it caught anywhere. In Beleriand, she often wears her hair in a crown-like updo, because she knows it's more beautiful than any metal.
Finarfin: also got Indis's blond hair, but through the filter of Finwean Hair Magic™️, he's the first member of the family to have the kind of "treelight" hair Galadriel was so famous for. Under Laurelin or Sunlight, it glows a bright, rich gold, and under Telperion or moonlight it glows silver, with the two mixing during the mingling. He wears it almost entirely loose, in Vanyar fashion, and kind of became an artistic muse for Ingwe's court because of it. There are poetry volumes about his hair, and mentioning one of them in his presence is by far the easiest way to make him blush.

I think since Tolkien named the first high king of the Noldor "hair-guy", instead of the next heir inheriting the title, there should be a "Who has the best hair?" contest everytime a high king dies to decide the succession.

Noldor chieftains have long hair (hc)
Noldor leaders all have very long hair because :
I like it ;
I hc Elves in general as very androgynous with long hair ;
I think that Noldor leaders in particular would have very long hair, because of the Franks. The Franks were a Germanic people that conquered/reigned over nowadays Northern France and Western Germany (roughly) after the end of the Roman Empire, and their leaders had very long hair. And I mean very long hair, as long hair was associated with leadership and prowess in war. The easiest way to get rid of an opponent in a leadership contest (they had a sort of elective leadership system) was to shave their head, as the absence of long hair meant that they would be immediately disqualified as war leader /leader. Therefore Franks chieftains never ever cut their hair, and usually had hair that reached all the way to their calves.
So : Franks have long hair and are a Germanic people, originally neighbours to the Angles and Saxons that Tolkien likes ; Franks have long hair ; the Noldor have a lot of hair-based names ; Noldor are also, according to Tolkien, "The Sword Elves" ; therefore it makes perfect sense that they all have very long hair (at least the leaders).
The other Elves can do what they want, cultural differences and all that... I don't care as much.
Elrond and Elros were taught to never cut their hair by M&M. What they did later on in life is anyone's guess and hc.

What is in unpopular silm headcannon that you have?
Well, since hair ties and elastics weren't invented yet in the silm, all the elves must have had some way of tying back their lustrous locks, right?
I believe that most Avari, and also some of the sindar and silvans would have either used some kind of fat/promenade to keep their braids in place (if they had a hair type that easily slipped out of braids), or used strings of some sort or another, either by braiding them in or simply tying them, similarly to how we would use an elastic.
In Valinor, I think things were different. It must have started out the same, but I bet simple leather or bast strings turned into linen and then silken ribbons very quickly. Also, there must have been a bunch of Noldor who made clasps to keep the braids in, and I bet there was an artform of braiding hair in ways that made it difficult for even the slipperiest hair types to escape their confines without any help at all.
Also, I know Fingon is the only one we really hear is wearing ribbons in his hair, but since they were historically speaking quite an important way of binding one's hair in our world, I think a lot of people must have had to do so, especially in Valinor, where fine fabrics were still easily available (no one in Tirion would want to debase themselves by wearing rough wool in their hair, after all) although I think most people eventually switched to clasps or even back to ways the Avari used once the rebels reached Beleriand, since those were both tools that were less wasteful. Fabric can easily rip, especially when it gets old, and there are far better purposes for it than vanity (like bandages) but a carved stone clasp takes quite some time to wear out. There were definitely simpler styles used as well, since people simply did not have the time to spent hours of their morning braiding their hair. They had far more important things to do! Like getting ready to die in the Nirnaeth-- I mean preparing themselves to win in their last glorious battle against Morgoth!
This would then make the few people still wearing ribbons appear as a symbol of what the Noldor lost, over time. Fingon wearing his golden, untainted and unstained ribbons to every feast, every battle, every political meeting, would certainly act as a sign of hope.
Outside of the silm and in our world, the colour gold was used to symbolize the presence of the Christian god in European medieval paintings, and since Manwë heard and answered Fingon's prayer at Thangorodrim, my sleep deprived brain cannot but connect those two dots and argue that to the few Noldor who were still pious towards the Valar (though probably in secret) Fingon was like a connection to them, like a reassurance that actually, the Valar had not left them, that actually, there was still hope.
And then the Nirnaeth Arnoediad happened and Fingon was crushed, and to those who sometimes saw a glint of tattered gold in Maedhros' hair the remaining ribbon meant nothing but that they had truly and utterly been forsaken.

❀ Works as a personal trainer, but really he wants to go into sports medicine. Specifically to work with a professional sports team. He knows every single muscle in the body - its scientific name, common name, and function, and also prides himself on how well he can put together a routine for literally ANYONE. Any body type, mobility range, and how to work around limitations like missing limbs, arthritis, paralysis, etc
❀ Really enjoys sports; watching, playing, it doesn’t matter bc he’s into it
❀ He’s an ambivert who absolutely loves spending time in the presence of others. He is so charming and outgoing and easy to talk to and be around. His puppy dog energy is REAL and he makes everyone feel excited about seeing him. BUT, being an ambivert, he does need quiet time on occasion, or a chance to unwind. He can find people to be draining at times, as well as specific people generally draining his energy more than others. In those moments he’s… much quieter, more stuck in his head than usual. This can be concerning for someone’s first time seeing him that way, but he’s quick to reassure them that he’ll be fine once he has some time alone<3
❀ His smile is so pretty !!! How are his teeth so white? His lips are pink and glossy? And the way it always seems so genuine and real, his pretty eyes crinkling as the corners of his lips turn up !!!
❀ I feel like this boy lives in athletic clothing. If he has to dress nice for something, like a date or a meeting, then he totally knows how to, but he truly thrives in athleisure
❀ His hair is usually worn down, or half up. If he’s active like working out at the gym or playing a game of soccer for example, then he’ll pull it all up into a perfect messy bun on the top of his head
❀ He’s very flirty, even without meaning to be. He’s just so kind and charming that it sometimes comes across a little different than he intends… He can’t help it
❀ Fingon is very handsome. Logically, he knows this, but bc his cousins and friends are also all very beautiful he often feels unattractive or at least insecure. He takes extra good care of himself due to this: twice a day skincare routine, nightly haircare routine with weekly hair masks, even a regular training/workout schedule
❀ I think he enjoys going to local farms to get fresh fruits and veggies. Poor boy tries so hard to start his own garden but he gets so busy and gets too excited about gardening and ends up either heavily over-watering or forgetting about the garden altogether. After the first five attempts at starting his own (he is determined!) he decides it’s better to let the pros do it and he enjoys supporting local farmers and businesses anyway
❀ Not a very good cook... but he tries! He can make one or two dishes really well. Knows his way around a grill though

I would be,, Very Interested if you have any more to share 👀,, in hearing more headcanons on Noldorin hair like the ones you put under your Edrahil drawing
I might actually have some more...
There would be three to four braids; age braid, status braid, craft braid, and a holder. There can also be fifth+ braids, ornaments braids, but that´s more of a fashion thing. And then of course the soldier braid that´s only worn on duty or in battle, and a few times in free time, like Edrahil does.
Edrahil
Age braid:
The braid in the front, the age braid, usually put down over the temple, can be used by everyone if they´re of age or noble blood.
The age braid is usually just used to show that someone is of age, but that doesn't mean that they´re an adult. It takes Noldor longer than Sindarin and Avarins to come of age but when either of these groups come of age, they´re still not adults. It is also used by noble families, no matter the age, to show status, so if a child is running around with an age braid that means that they´re of noble blood.
If it is someone working for a noble house, like a servant, they can´t wear both the age and status braid as they could be mistaken for being part of the household by others as the status braid would have to show which house they serve. They can however wear both when they don´t wear the mark of the house they serve.
Status braid:
Maglor´s, for example as I´m working on a drawing with him where the braids are included, status braid got a pendant at the end with the star of Feanor to tell which house he´s from while the age braid, in the front, explains that he´s a noble, not just a servant, so either the leader or a family member of the leader.
Close up on Maglor from the wip showing which braid is which and how it could look.
Tumblr media
The status braid is kept behind the ears and usually falls down the back.
Craft braid:
The craft braid is kept at the back of the head, meaning there's only one of them whereas the age and status braid has two, one on each side of the head, which explains not the job, but which path it is.
There are different types of braid for most statuses and categories of jobs, like there´s one braid that tells if the person has political influence, or is a loremaster, which can mean both teacher and librarian or if they´re an artist, not what kind of artist so it could be a bard, painter, etc so usually, there are clips or jewels that say precisely what it is.
The smith has their own braids because they´re so important in Noldor culture.
Holder:
The holder is a braid crown that can both be a simple braid, or a lot of braids woven into each other.
It starts right behind the ear, beside the age braid, and ends at the back of the head where some of it is sometimes let loose and other times put into ornaments braids, but no matter what, it always turns into a part of the craft braid, which means both the status and craft braids are braided from both the hair in the holder and sometimes some loose hair two.
Ornaments:
Usually, hair jewels also help to tell about the person, like ribbons, hairpins, combs etc. but they can also be used as just ornaments. When they´re used as only ornaments smaller extra braids are usually added too and mostly in noble households but not always.
Soldier braid:
Soldier braids are a way to braid hair out of the way; if there’s a fight all soldiers have their hair braided back and pulled into a braided bun, some choose to still have their symbols braids (the ones I´m trying to figure out a system for) out and others only braid some of it into a bun letting some lose, but it is a must to have a braided bun so that others don´t take you for a healer. If in wear of a helmet the bun is just moved down or there´s a small hole on top of the helmet for the bun.
extra note;
Children usually wear plain hairstyles like a normal braid or bubble ponytail which I drew child Caranthir with.
It is optinel to wear braids.
They were usually worn in daily life in Valinor though not always, and when they came to Beleriand it became more of a formal thing they did if something important happened, a party was held, a meeting, a person is of important status (like king or prince) etc. that only a few chose to wear daily.

Silm Headcanon:
Battle braids were common amongst the Noldor when they first arrived in Beleriand. The tradition of braids had transitioned from Valinorian family, friendship or marriage braids into ones for battle. New styles were invented and quickly spread across the Noldorian community.
The length, placement, thickness and beads that were added or not added told stories of survival and hardship throughout time.
The most common ones were the following:
First battle braids, a simple three strand braid with a black bead marking that an elf had spilled their first black blood.
Partaker braids, for different big battles that simply marked a soldier as having been apart of said fight.
Fealty braids, openly showing who one’s loyalty lies with.
And at last survivors braids, these were worn by those who survived any type of imprisonment by dark creatures, there was also a more complicated version of this braid for former thralls of Angband.
There were also very rare braids which brought the wearer great respect and honor if an elven warrior wore said braid in their hair.
One of the rarest and most admired was the braid marking the survival of an encounter with Sauron, which on its own was feat enough.
It was a complicated four too five thread braid with multiple smaller or larger beads depending on the length or severity of the meeting.
Another was the one worn by Balrog slayers. This braid however only really surfaced after the first age when Glorfindel returned from Valinor since there were no surviving Balrog slayers to wear it.
One of the few braids that stayed the same from Valinor to Beleriand was the braid of the High King. Having only ever been worn by Finwë, Fëanor, Maedhros, Fingolfin, Fingon and Turgon.
Gil-Galad did not continue this tradition due to his decent from the house of Finarfin who‘s braiding traditions, just as many other elven houses, had faded over the years.
But since braids were mainly worn by the first to arrive in Beleriand after the flight of the Noldor, therefore fëanorians and their loyalists over time battle braids became a symbol of their house which quickly resulted and a fast decline of elven battle braids being seen on daily basis.
After the second and third kinslaying they had nearly completely disappeared in all but those still loyal to the remaining two son‘s of Fëanor and the son‘s themselves.
There were also unique braid, only ever worn by one person.
One of those was Maedhros‘ side braid.
A simple but elegant side braid on his left with no beads or pearls or any decorations whatsoever.
He wore it always after his rescue from the cliffs of Thangorodrim.
This braid was neatly kept, closly against his skull and tightly braided.
The braid of Maedhros became a symbol for the Lord of Himring and only ever associated with him and his qualities.
His formidable talent as a warlord, his unchallenged title as the greatest and fiercest swordsman of Beleriand, his fëanorian heritage and his standing as leader of the followers of house Fëanor.
The orcs, goblins, werewolves and evil men began to fear the braid of the red haired elf and his name became even more devastating to them than it already was.
After Maedhros died none dared ever wear his braid, for it stood for a fury no one dared claim as their own.
The centuries went by and braids got fewer and fewer. The second age was nearly at its end and the war against Sauron in full go.
But then came the day on which Sauron’s forces marched with Celebrimbor‘s dead body used as a flag.
And the infamous fury of the Lord of Himring was set ablaze in another, one who deemed himself close to the deceased elf to this day.
Elrond.
When he saw his beloved cousin’s body, defaced and dishonored that fire his foster father had carried was lit within him, and something snapped.
The next day the entire army was in shock and disbelief as their King‘s herald walked onto the battlefield wearing said infamous side braid, paired with a set of armor made by Celebrimbor, and an ear cuff also known for having once belonged to Maedhros.
That day the orcs of Sauron learned to fear the fury of the half elf, for they had already forgotten what true Noldorian spirit was. Elrond cut them down one by one, killing hundreds of orcs by himself and struck terror into the hearts of his enemies as they watched their companions fall to his blade.
Elrond didn’t stop until nearly all orcs were either dead or had fled from his wrath.
Then he went to find his cousins body. He freed him from the wooden pole he had been bound to and carried him away. Far off into nature, away from Lindon and Eregion, far away from all they once knew and laid him to rest in a peaceful spot where many flowers grew and old trees surrounded them.
To this day Lord Elrond visits his cousin often, for his final resting place is no far from Imladris, and to this day he wears the braid once associated with Maedhros, and he would do so until his arrival in Valinor.

In addition to the drama, I also want to share some thoughts about my headcanon Noldorin traditions. In particular, the tradition of braiding. For the Noldor, braiding is a symbol of attachment to a person, a connection with someone. Elrond is just playing with hair, but it means a lot more to Maedhros.

Can I offer you a Finrod Felagun ?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Finrod was like his father in his fair face and golden hair...he has a noble and generous heart and the high courage of the noldor.."
Look at him lazing around like a cat in the sun.
I'm super into medieval art so he got a halo. Because he is my angel ❤️
The morning star is a result of me @erendur and @dfwbwfbbwfbwf long posts of elven and weapons!
And I made him look androgynous because it fits him so well. His sister is called man-woman after all.
I shall add now my favorite Headcanon:
I think that Sauron based his Annatar form of Finrod.
I mean Finrod is known for being very beautiful and kind and he made friends with elven, dwarves and the race of men!!
He also battled against sauron once and so I think Sauron would take great pleasure in using Finrods fair looks.
Sauron never managed to copy finrod good enough though.
There is always something off.
Anyway here is close up of the weapon and a sneak peak of my next drawing guess who that is !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course a cat pic ❤️ look at my girl sleeping like an angel.

Ok TRoP has really grown on me, I actually love it now. Im genuinely okay with the creative liberties and cruching of the timeline of the SA (although I have no idea how theyre going to incorporate Celeborn and Celabrian at this point but we'll see). But one thing I can't get over is the elves short hair (though don't get me wrong, love that Elrond's hair gets curly and the implication that he canonically uses a straightener).
So I headcanon that for males, elven hair is a sign of their strength of heart. Also that elven hair grows very slowly back, given their long lives. When something devastating happens they cut their hair off. The War of Wrath led to many Elven men adopting shorter hair styles, as is the case with Celebrimbor, Arondir, and other various elves that have short hair.
For Elrond, he's pretty young by elf standards at this point. His hair hasn't gotten the chance to grow out fully. I think it whatever growth it did have he cut it in solidarity at the end of the FA. Because my boy has a LOT to grieve. Also I can imagine a tiny Elrond asking Meadhros why everyone is cutting their hair after the war and deciding that he also has a reason to, even though he's so young :'(
Also somewhat the same case for Finrod, he's pretty young when we first see him in Valinor. And he probably kept it short because of the subsequent shenanigans that the Noldor got into that plunged Beleraind into hundreds of years of war.
However for Gil-Galad, given that at the end of the FA he's now the high king of the Noldor he chose to keep his hair long as a symbol for hope and strength for his people. He's saying that yes, we have lost much but we have a good future, and the leader of the Noldor is strong enough to bear this weight. Long hair for a male elven leader in middle earth became a symbol for enduring strength and hope for the people because of him. Thus Elrond takes up this new tradition when he becomes leader too.
Anyway that's my deep dive into what was probably only a stylistic choice by the producers to cater to a younger and wider audience, but I like it better this way.

"My heart warns me that Míriel will not return while Arda lasts."
Finwë and Fëanor leaving the Gardens of Lórien.
Finwë is still wearing the last braid that Míriel made for him. From now on, he will wear his hair loose until his son is old enough to braid it for him. For what stronger sign of mourning could there be, than the King of the Noldor wearing in his hair no braid or ornament, no token of the love felt for him?

One of my favorite Elrond headcanons is the idea that he starts out looking very much human and elvish. He has ears too pointed to be a man's, but not nearly long enough to be an elf's, his father's (grandfather's, really) blue eyes and brown hair that shines like an elf's, but gets tangled far too often.
Sure, some weird things happen around Elrond as a child– the birds that seems to follow him, the way some injuries mysteriously resolve in his prescense, the unusual flowers that bloom outside his windows– but really, it's easy to see those as distant remnants of an ainuric power that Elrond clearly didn't inherit. When he comes to Gil-Galad's camp, it's much easier for them to see Tuor or Beren in him than it is to think he's descended from Melian.
But then time passes. The changes are slow enough– happening over decades or centuries– that no one really notices at first. Elrond's hair darkens until it is as black as the night sky– as black as Luthien's was. His eyes leach color until they are gray– not Noldor gray, mind, but a strange, starry gray that some of the Iathrim whisper about. His voice changes, almost seems to take on an echo of itself, sometimes.
The strange things that happen around him only get stranger– the trees bend to shelter him, during storms, and sometimes when he sings, the birds sing with him. Elrond got a cat, right at the start of the Second Age– a gift from Gil-Galad. Somehow, it never seems to grow old or die. The parts of Lindon Elrond most often visits always seem to be in full bloom, no matter what season it is. His healing abilities surpass what is to be expected of a man– an elf– eventually, of what seems possible at all.
At the end of the First Age, it would've been hard to believe Elrond had more than a trickle of ainur blood in him. By the beginning of the Third Age, many have started to whisper about Rivendell– a new Doriath, ruled by a Maiarin lord with all Melian's grace, and her eccentricities.
Elrond doesn't realize just how much he's changed until the day, late in the Third Age, when he finds Maglor wandering on the shoreline. Nothing he says will convince Maglor that he isn't Luthien's spirit, returned from death to haunt him.

I'm fond of Noldor!Lindir and Sinda!Lindir and Just Some Guy Lindir and I also enjoy Lindir-is-Actually-Maglor and Lindir-is-Actually-Daeron headcanons as much as the next person (and I'm partial to my personal hc that he's the son of Maglor's wife's niece with some Northern Sinda elf), but I have been thinking.
What if Lindir is Maglor and Daeron. At the same time.
Hear me out.
It is some time during the third age, and one of them makes it to Rivendell (my money is on Daeron being first) and decides to stay there. Wanting to remain anonymous, he chooses to go by 'Lindir' to avoid questions like "you're the Daeron/Maglor???" etc. Life goes on.
Now, the other one makes it to Rivendell also (I like the idea that Maglor is second bc he's dragged there by his ear) and wants to stay as well, and wishes also to remain anonymous for the same aforementioned reasons. Elrond very politely and very inconspicuously offers him to use the name 'Lindir'.
Life goes on. There are two Lindirs in Rivendell. Naturally, the two Lindirs in question do not remain unaware of this for long, which leads to a very heated discussion with Elrond bc "why would you give me his name do you think I want to copy him??" "Do you think I want people to mistake your terrible music as mine???"
( @morluin's idea that neither of them knows about the other and they both assume they are the only Lindir makes this scenario much much funnier, btw.)
Elrond offers that, since Lindir is a person that does not exist, there is no reason for his persona to be limited to a single person! It really is not very important since it allows them both their desired anonymity to outsiders! No one will really notice!!
Maglor, with dark curls to his knees and bright silver eyes and pale skin that has gone tanned and sun-kissed and dehydrated through continuous exposure to the sun without proper sunscream, and Daeron, with shorter gleaming silver hair and pale blue eyes the colour or morning dew, with even paler skin that makes him almost glow completely in the dark to mortal eyes: look at each other
But what Elrond wants, Elrond gets, even though in this instance he is almost definitely fucking with them. Life goes on.
Eventually Maglor and Daeron get over their petty arguments about sharing the same fake name and start having fun with it. They fuck with people on purpose. They go from prissy rivals to 'sexual tension tangible enough to cut with a knife' rivals and of course, eventually they have to fuck about it. And then they continue fucking with people in increasingly funnier ways as 'Lindir'.
Elrond wins.

Bodyguard From Another World
Tumblr media
(A crack fic crossover between Silmarillion / Attack on Titan. Hope you like it)
Requested by @springfountain
Congrats on finishing your series anima! Great work on both of them👍So some crack idea for you:
A titan reader gets transported to Middle-Earth and has their right hand cut off during a fight. They look at Mae, a smug smirk on their face, and regenrate their hand saying "Imma make you real jealous now."
It would be lovely if you could write crack headcanon based on this for all Sons of Fëanor like you did with Raiden's handmaid.
Warnings: bad jokes, falling into a hole, reader being slightly lazy, losing limbs, (Maybe poor writing? It's a crack fic, who cares) growing back limbs, and more bad jokes.
-------------------------------------------
- You are not entirely sure how you got where you are now.
- You remember it being some kind of scouting mission outside the walls. You and your team were safely chilling on a tree, taking a break, and then you found an interesting hole at the bottom of the tree.
- You went to check it out since there were no Titans nearby, and then your team began to joke about rabbit holes and other worlds they read about in storybooks.
- You were right in front of the hole, looking down and trying to see if you could see the bottom. Then, one of your teammates thought it would be a fun idea to smack you in the back, causing you to lose balance and fall into the hole. You were not quick enough to catch yourself in time, so you slipped in and fell into the bottomless hole screaming.
- It happened so fast. You were blinded by the darkness and the ground beneath you was so slippery that you couldn’t catch onto anything to stop your violent sliding. Then, you saw light at the bottom and before you knew it, you were thrown out of the hole.
- You violently rolled out of the hole. Thanks to your gear, you didn’t roll far and landed on your back. Groaning painfully on the ground, your back ached from the bruises and the dirt that covered the whole backside of your uniform.
- When you recovered and sat up. You heard your teammate's shouts coming from the hole, but then to your fright and confusion, the tree suddenly started moving. It moved and twisted itself around, closing the hole and trapping you in the world you were now.
- Luckily, the world you got trapped into was not so bad. There were no Titans, which was a huge plus. The only creatures you needed to worry about were orcs and some other type of creatures that tried to kill you, but honestly, you would take them any day than see another titan.
- You found work in a guild that took bodyguard work and legal bounty jobs. It helped you get a place to live and get comfortable with your new life.
- You sparsely used the 3DM gear since this world didn’t have a concept of using gas as a fuel. So, you had to count on your other skills to make yourself useful and earn good money in your job.
- Even though you missed some of your friends. You didn't mind staying in this world. No Titans, no trauma. Even though orcs were just as troublesome and violent as titans, you preferred to fight someone of your own size than over ten-foot-tall monsters.
- One day, your guild received a commission from the Noldor elves. Apparently, they needed more manpower to ensure the safety of a party that was to travel to another kingdom for a meeting. It had been a rough time for everyone, so it was understandable. You were picked into the group as you were one of the best fighters, and then you all were set to meet the elves for the time of the job.
- You didn’t pay attention when your group leader spoke with the tall red-haired elf, but when things were settled, you started your journey. You did take a chance to glance at all of them and figured they were the so-called sons of Feanor.
- You would have preferred to go as quietly as possible but you then managed to catch up a conversation with a few of them. Apparently, you were quite short compared to others which caught their attention. You didn’t take kindly to that remark, but since they were taller than most in your group, you began to understand Captain Levi’s troubles, since he was the shortest man in the scout regiment.
- The elf named Maglor was pleasant to talk to. You learned many interesting things about elves from him and you shared a few stories of your adventures with him.
- The elf named Celegorm sometimes butted in, judging your size and experiences. They were just some jabs, and you were okay with him most of the time.
- You didn’t converse with Curufin much. But you did notice that he seemed shorter than most of his brothers, and when he sent you a jab, you kinda of teased his height which then earned glares from him.
- You mostly respectfully kept your distance from Caranthir. It’s not that you were afraid of him or his rumored temper. There was just nothing that could have sparked a discussion, and you both were fine with that.
- Surprisingly, you got quite well along with the twins. They heard your tease toward Curufin, and now you had been talking with them most of the journey. What was even better was that they seemed to share your sense of humor.
- You were quite laid back and nonserious. Your group leader often scolded you for slacking, and that seemed to have made a poor impression on the oldest of the brothers, Maedhros.
- He even joined in the scolding and asked you to take things more seriously.
- You knew how to be serious when needed, but when there were no immediate dangers, you saw no reason to be serious.
- Maedhros then remarked that your lack of preparations during jobs will end up bringing you great harm and blah, blah, blaa.
- Little did they know that you did not need to worry about injuries and such since you had regenerative abilities.
- You were actually a titanshifter. You just managed to keep it hidden from your friends and the scout regiment and avoid receiving serious injuries that could have given you away.
- Your guild knew about your abilities since you had ended up in a situation where you lost a leg and grew it back to save someone.
- They were quite accepting, to your relief, and you might have confessed to them about your other abilities. They were curious but respectful since there was no need for you to shift into your titan form.
- That was one of the reasons why you preferred to live in this world. You do not want to imagine the mess you would create if the scout regiment knew about your secret.
- You continued sending jabs at Maedhros when he continued scolding you and then came a day when a large group of orcs attacked you.
- It was a sudden ambush, even though, you all succeeded in fending off the attack. You protected the tall red-haired elf from a sneak attack and lost half of your right arm in the process.
- The pain was nothing you had not experienced before, but it did send Maedhros in panic when he saw your bleeding arm.
- But then you grinned at him.
- “I’m about to make you real jealous right now,” you said.
- He looked at you confused until you used your ability to regrow your arm.
- Let’s just say, the look on his face was priceless.
- Your group leader was quick to explain that you had such an ability, then forced you to apologize for making it a spectacle.
- You apologized, and then you earned more reactions from his brothers.
Maedhros
- He would still be quite frightened and perhaps a little traumatized to see your once cut-off hand now grow back.
- He was quite relieved that the leader of your group explained your ability and that it was normal for you to grow back your limbs.
- Your group leader seemed pissed off for the remark you made and made you apologize for the show, which Maedhros gradually accepted.
- Let’s just say, Maedhros did not underestimate you again and left you on your own things even if you still slacked off.
Maglor
- He would be shocked, but then curious about your ability.
- He would inquire a lot about it and question if you had more than one time ended up losing a limb during your adventures.
- You were happy to explain it to him and that you could heal your wounds.
- He might have gotten new song ideas about you, and couldn’t wait to get started with them once he got home.
Celegorm
- He would most likely be surprised and then impressed by your ability.
- He would ask what other things you could grow back and probably found your remark toward Maedhros funny.
Curufin
- Shocked and will most likely try to make sense of your ability and why would a human possess such an ability.
- Will not confront you about, and will most likely stay away from you. He’s hella weary of you now.
- Does not enjoy when Celegorm makes strange scenarios and questions about it.
Caranthir
- Definitely, the one who will most likely be the most weirded out by your ability.
- You two do not talk, but now he will most likely look your way and try to see if you could do other weird things.
- He will most likely start doubting if you are even a human.
- He is weary of you but does respect how you defended Maedhros.
Ambarussa
- Not too weirded out by your ability since they have probably seen stranger things.
- Will ask questions and be amazed by other things you could do.
- Would probably laugh if you asked Maedhros if he needed a hand with your severed arm.
- You are pretty unhinged with your sense of humor.
