The next time Dazai has to get his phone out for something, he either sees that he's been on a call with Chuuya for almost an hour or that he already called Chuuya. His eyes widen, dread creeps up his spine, and he goes oh, crap.

Dropped my phone today and broke the screen broke. T-T I've had that thing for 6 years, since 2018/19 and it was still running flawlessly. Still does. I got a work phone 2-3 years ago that was so full of bugs... 💀 Not sure if I should get a new one or get this one fixed. It was only 130 bucks when I bought it, the current model from the same brand would be a bit more expensive, reasonably so with much more dataspace, RAM and everything. And fixing this one also costs over 100. Tough call. :')

Das Smartphone gibt es nicht mehr

Beim Schreiben des Beitrags über die slowenischen Speisekarten frage ich die zehnjährige Nichte, seit wann sie eigentlich jetzt auch ein Smartphone hat. "Ein was?", sagt sie, und ihre ältere Schwester muss helfen: "Ein Handy". – "Weiß nicht mehr, aber schon länger."

Ich erkläre, dass ich manchmal Smartphone sage, weil es eben früher Handys gab, die Tasten hatten und gar nichts konnten. Ich habe dabei ein schlechtes Gewissen der Vergangenheit gegenüber, weil diese Telefone für uns damals viel mehr als gar nichts konnten. Aber aus heutiger Sicht ist es eben so. "Ah ja, praktisch wie ein Nokia-Handy", sagt die Nichte, die sich also doch auskennt.

Warum gerade Nokia hier als generischer Begriff für Tastenhandys herhalten muss, weiß ich nicht, ist es vielleicht die letzte Firma, die so was hergestellt hat oder vielleicht sogar immer noch herstellt? Oder enthält die Familie der Nichte zufällig ein Nokia-Handy und kein anderes?

Jedenfalls muss ich aufhören, Smartphone zu sagen. Es leben jetzt Menschen, die eines haben und den Begriff nicht mehr kennen.

So my phone died today so I had to take it to a repair centre to see what was wrong with it, long story short; I don't have a phone anymore.

ANYWAY I kinda realised when I was out walking without a phone that I, for once in my life, didn't feel lonely. I had no way of checking if anyone had sent me anything, they usually don't so I feel lonely, but this time I couldn't check so I just had to go about my day. I had no music no nothing, and I felt at peace. Just roaming about Stockholm without a phone wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, I did realise tho that I need to buy a watch haha
