yes the peacock miraculous obviously needs to be felix's and is extremely significant to him and there's so much poetry about the fact that he is the holder of the very miraculous that created him and him being the holder of it is deeply entrenched into the plot. HOWEVER.
sometimes i miss the cat!adrien vs dog!felix dynamic. because it was really fucking funny

TOP 10 CARTOONS ON FANFICTION.NET BASED ON NUMBER OF FANFICTION (1999-2022)
To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Cartoons Section on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.
In 2000-2006, FFN used Miscellaneous Cartoons as a catch-all tag for all cartoons that didn’t have their own category yet. It was then renamed to Misc. Cartoons in 2007 before it was moved to the Misc. section in 2008.
Code Lyoko and Avatar: The Last Airbender were actually miscategorized at first and were found in the Anime section from 2004-2007 (2005-2007 for ATLA). I used their data from that section for those years.
In 1999, fanfiction weren’t divided into sections like Anime/Manga, TV, Books, etc. yet. It was just a small list of mixed fandoms.
Originally, the fanfiction list was sorted alphabetically too, but was changed to number of fics at around early 2013.
By November 2013, FFN started abbreviating numbers above 1,000 to K, so exact numbers aren't available for series with more than 1,000 fanfiction.
This bar chart was made with the assumption that the numbers listed in the Cartoons section are correct. I can't seem to get the same numbers for some of these categories when I go to the specific categories' page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All though... I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. (And it’s not the crossover fic numbers that need to be added to serie’s total fics from what I’ve observed.)
Please refer to this post for more bar chart races.
Thanks for understanding and hopefully I didn’t mess up anywhere! 🙏

I've often thought about the cute gold diggers of the pre-code 30s (there's a depression on, who can blame me?) as compared to the black widows of the film noir 40s (let's both of us skip the innocent act.) Barbara Stanwyck was versatile enough to play both, but they conjure very different images of calculating girls out for what they can get. I have a hard time imagining Lizabeth Scott giggling in a chorus line or Jean Harlow watching a man drown without a flicker of emotion (although of course, she didn't live long enough to try.)
The gold digger is cute and spunky, and may be either ditzy or brilliantly street smart. (Hats off, as always, to the Cuphead Show for creating a G-rated version of the smart vamp in Miss Chalice.) There were evil women in the pre-code era (often played by Myrna Loy) but they tended to be more horror movie villains than girls just out to hook a rich sucker. But the power a gold digger has over men is a constant power struggle. If he cuts her off, that's it. If she ditches him, he can buy another gold digger (but never one as good as her...) There's a soft femdom (or perhaps findom) vibe to movies like Babyface or I'm No Angel, where the man voluntarily giving power to the woman (whether by choice or by trickery) is the very thing he seems to enjoy.
The femme fatale may convincingly play innocent, but I can't think of one who pretended to be cute- you either saw the "schoolgirl act" or self-possessed wickedness. There were spunky heroines in film noir (often played by Ida Lupino) but they wanted you to know how smart they were right away. Importantly, the femme fatale isn't happy with just vamping her way towards money. What makes her fatal is, of course, her willingness to kill. In Double Indemnity, former pre-code gold digger Barbara Stanwyck has already hooked her rich husband, and now she can't get rid of him fast enough. Like the gold digger, her power is limited- if a man says "no thanks, you're not worth killing for" then there's not much she can do. But the push-pull of power here comes in part from the man being a bit dirty himself. It's rare (though not unknown) for a noir dame to destroy a totally innocent man. If he isn't a bad man to begin with, he usually jumps to be one under her tutelage. Walter Neff may say "You're a little more rotten," but who's really counting? The most honest couple in film noir, Laurie and Bart in Gun Crazy, both blame themselves rather than each other, and both are right.
I don't think either archetype is inherently misogynistic or inherently empowering- any of these characters can be wildly complex, and while iconic, they weren't the only types of female characters of this era. But that push-pull of power in very different ways fascinates me.

the problem with being obsessed with your blorbos is that you'll start making every song you listen to about them. and then you'll just be listening to music and start crying because they remind you of all your blorbos 😔

HL with a supe girlfriend who also has mood issues AND she has pyrokinesis. Homie is allowed to be with ANYONE else except her because of her erratic behavior (which to him is her being a brat). her hair slowly turns into a flame as he gaslights her. Then, she proceeds to almost set the entire floor on fire before an employee shoots her with a hose. He still "loves" her. Her smokey smell, the way he coughs when she's on fire, how warm she is, the way she's vulnerable when she's unable to use her powers
this is actually reminding me so much of one of my favorite movies!!! it's very much giving Liz and Hellboy.

i love love love the juxtaposition of dangerous and volatile power vs indestructible constitution. the poetry behind, "I burn everything I touch." and "I'm fireproof."
that said, homelander is very much not fireproof. i mean, technically he is, but it still hurts him the way it would anyone else. one of his most traumatic childhood memories is being burned alive in a giant oven. someone who erupts into flames would probably actually frighten him.
givne how rare that is, this type of thing could make for a very compelling enemies/rivals to lovers situation 👀 helping homelander confront and overcome his past, his trauma, his fears.
