You know how they say a picture tells a thousand words? Hmm...very obvious framing from the Sun.

Publicist Sara’s strained relationship with brother-in-law Liam was a factor in the band’s 2009 split.

Not a direct quote from Noel but I guess he must have alluded to it in the interview, or he told the journalist not to quote him on it, which is why it appears as indirect.

Until Noel denies it, I'm taking it as confirmation.

Did Sara feel that Noel wasn't prioritising her over Liam?

Did she feel Noel wasn't doing enough to protect her and the kids?

Did she make Noel choose?

Was she jealous?

Or did Sara just get sick of the constant negativity and online harassment?

Viewed through a gcest filter, did she find out something about them that made her want to divorce Noel?

"...and you ain't getting half of it..." or, how Sara MacDonald is probably getting half of it.

Ok so here's an article on some interesting background/context for those following Noel and Sara's divorce.

In my fic the fictional version of Keith Schilling mentions to another character that he "likes to set precedent". (NOTE My story covers a fictitious divorce between Noel and Sara; the plot came before all this IRL life stuff blew up, it was NOT a prediction, it literally is just a coincidence, lol, I had no idea!) So I picked Schillings for the story, only because I knew that Sara's used Schillings for PR litigation stuff, as mentioned in the April 2020 Vogue article. So I wondered if they did any family law, and after googling them and doing some research, I saw that YES, in some cases, especially very high profile divorces, Keith Schilling and his firm have taken divorce cases. (Coincidently, Sara's current lawyer is a Schillings lawyer!)

THE SHAN LAMBERT CASE AND "SETTING PRECEDENT" (see article) So in real life, one of Keith's claims to fame is a case in 2002 involving a divorce between a wealthy businessman Harry Lambert, and his wife Shan Lambert. Shan didn't work, she stayed home and took care of the kids. Harry made millions from an internet news business he started. Shan hired Schillings, and asked for half of the $20 million dollars Harry earned after he sold his company in 1999. No one had yet set the precedent that an unemployed homemaker should get half of what a sole and high-income breadwinner had earned (instead of whatever a prenup dictates, etc.) and courts were already struggling with the question of what is fair. This profile on Keith states The Lambert divorce became "a landmark case as it was the first high-net-worth divorce case in which the wife received 50 per cent of the assets."

hahahahha which is now darkly funny because in this clip from Matt Morgan's podcast (likely recorded around the Will Smith-Chis Rock 'Slapgate' incident in late March 2022) Noel recounts they story of why he didn't get to go to Russell Brand’s wedding, since Sara was pregnant at the time. He jokes that Sara told him he could go with heavy implication that he totally should not go... "okay you're not pulling the old switcheroo on me, I don't care about this guy or his bride [jokingly implying she's baiting him for divorce]…but I do care about my legacy…and you ain't gettin' half of it." SO ACTUALLY SHE IS PROBABLY GETTING HALF OF IT 😬. lol, or at least half of whatever he's earned since his marriage to Sara in 2011.

in absence of a reunion noel interview i'm going back to revisit the great gallagher thaw of late 2014/early 2015 to try to make some sense outta these strange reunion times we are in now.

i've been really curious about this time period for awhile and stockpiling posts with the intention of assembling them in some kind of chronological order. still not quite sure what i'm looking at but it's a bit like find the edge pieces of a puzzle and snapping them together for a frame. you can get a vague idea while understanding much of the pieces are missing to complete the picture. most notably noel is giving interviews at this time while liam is mostly out of the public eye entirely.

assembled them in the queue and looking at them in order now and getting a bit choked up by what we have. even factoring in the normal album press cycle, noel's interviews have noticeable outlier moments during this time. charting his uncharacteristically relaxed calm fondness to emotionally raw moments when mentioning liam, it does look like any attempt at a truce all goes south within a months time (mid february to mid march 2015). coincidence it’s when dead in the water is written and the chasing yesterday is released? of course it’s not lost on me it also is at a period of nostalgia with the 20th anniversaries of their first two albums and part of the buzz about a reunion driven by stone roses reunion. but in the course of the entire feud it sticks out as different. and suggests noel was more invested in a reconciliation than he’d ever be willing to admit.

With Noel seeming more positive than in recent years do you think Sara's negativity was the thing making him so bitter?

I’ll start with the last question if you will. I never really liked Sara, I didn’t like her behavior towards Noel, her attitude towards his work. But I never thought they would actually separate. Because Noel was always telling everyone how wonderful his wife is and how perfect and wholesome his family is. And I just used to believe it. Just because I am naïve and trustful in general. And I also believe in life-time relationships. So maybe I shouldn’t. Apparently, there were problems in their relationship. Apparently, the red flags we all have been noticing are real (a star badge for every gcest truther⭐️). So despite going through emotionally exhausting process of divorce, Noel may feel relieved.

In general I like to think that the things are better than before and everything is going towards reconciliation. When Liam says Noel has called him, I just believe him. I don’t know the truth, though. Of course, Liam could could distort real situation a bit, but I don’t think he would make up the whole thing. (He wouldn’t be allowed to do it lol). At the end of the day the ice seems to melt between the brothers (according to tweets and interviews)

And yes, of course Liam is very excited about Noel’s divorce (it’s empathy towards Noel, Schadenfreude towards Sara and HOPE towards their relationship with Noel). But did he know anything before the official announcement? I don’t think so. Surely not from Noel. But rumors, maybe.

And there is always a chance that the things are absolutely not what we see and think. There’s always a possibility that they have been communicating all that time. That Liam has already married Debbie. That Noel and Sara have been living separately for last couple of years. Neither Gallagher nor their spouses are super media personalities, so it’s a great question whether they would try to create suitable media picture, though.

Stopped to think today how isolated Noel must feel since it ended with Sara. Of course he has his kids and friends. And he can talk to Peggy. But they were a team. I imagine that's why he says he's in crisis.

Speaking in the new issue of MOJO magazine, Liam Gallagher has revealed that Noel Gallagher turned down an offer to reform Oasis for the forthcoming 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

“Noel? He ain’t fucking doing it,” Liam tells MOJO’s Ted Kessler in this month’s MOJO cover feature.

In June, Liam Gallagher embarks on a UK arena tour to mark the anniversary of Oasis’ debut album. Noel Gallagher recently suggested on Talksport Radio that all Liam had to do was call him up to see about healing the rift that’s existed since Oasis split in 2009, but Liam claims an offer to reform was rejected by his older brother.

“I did call him! Well, my people called Noel’s management team,” reports Liam. “We put an offer on the table for an Oasis thing – because we got offered it – and he said no. It was a big tour, a lot of money. He turned it down. I get it, he’s got a divorce going down. I’ll do the Definitely Maybe thing and have a nice time without him.”

2025 will see the anniversary of Oasis’ second album Morning Glory? So perhaps Liam is holding out for a future rapprochement?

“It’s down to the universe. It’ll happen when it happens, it’s not in our hands anymore,” says Liam. “Me, I love nostalgia though. I’m doing the lot. Every album, even… what was the last one?”

A Sara e o Liam passaram a se odiar depois que ela e o Noel reataram entre 2002/2003, foram anos de brigas entre eles, e mesmo depois do fim da banda o Liam continuou a atacar ela, então acho que a Sara incentivou sim o Noel a se afastar o máximo que podia do Liam.

Oficialmente, o Noel atribuiu o divórcio: 1- às longas turnês do NGHFB; 2- à pandemia; 3- à uma crise de meia idade mútua.

Lembro que, por exemplo, a turnê do álbum Who Built the Moon? durou 2 anos quase ininterruptos, e ele ainda abriu shows do U2 nesse meio tempo, ele até deu uma entrevista dizendo que saiu de casa e deixou dois menininhos fofos e voltou e já tinha dois rapazes com bigode ralo!

Essas turnês longas devem ter feito ele e a Sara criarem ideias e interesses próprios e independentes do parceiro, e esses novos e isolados interesses devem ter entrado em conflito durante a pandemia, já que agora eles foram "obrigados" a conviver no mesmo espaço por meses, sem poder sair e ver outras pessoas (no caso, o círculo de amizades criados quando estavam distantes um do outro), e talvez eles não sabiam mais como lidar um com o outro com essa hiper-convivência que eles não tinham há anos. (e talvez por isso o Noel tenha dito que eles "cansaram um do outro", com essas palavras).

Pra completar, os dois estavam no começo da casa dos 50 anos em plena pandemia e deve ter surgido um sentimento de carpe diem, que eles deviam aproveitar os últimos anos de "juventude" antes de se tornarem idosos e não dessem mais conta de festejar por aí (e pelo que notei, ambos até tiveram essa crise, mas ela foi muito mais forte na Sara, provavelmente porque ela teve que cuidar dos filhos durante seus 40 e tantos e não pode fazer uma grande festa nos seus 50 anos por que foi no meio da pandemia, então ela deve ter sentido que não aproveitou a juventude o suficiente, pelo menos não em comparação ao Noel, que estava viajado o mundo sendo um rockstar), e a forma como cada um queria festejar e viver no pós-pandemia fosse diferente, o que causou mais conflitos e distância entre eles.

De resto, só tem as especulações que você já deve saber, ainda mais se você frequentou aqui no tumblr em 2022!

These are great questions. I would expect the 'working out' of these questions accounts at least partly for the 'challenging times' that Noel mentioned, and why it's all taking a while to settle. I'm sure their respective lawyers are back and forthing on this, and not at a rapid pace either, knowing what lawyers are like.

Found a family law article on it. They acknowledge that Noel and Sara's lengthy marriage would make settlement more complex. And yes, they count the period when they started cohabitating.

Do you think Sara signed a pre nuptial agreement before marrying noel?

Ahh, now that is the question isn't it. Well, I don't know. I don't think anyone does.

If there is a prenup? A while back when this was being discussed I recall reading that in the UK, a judge can over-rule a prenup if the circumstances have changed significantly since it was drawn up i.e. there are children or if the divorce would leave one party unfairly disadvantaged financially. I think this would apply to Sara, but hey, I'm no judge so take with grain of salt.
