I sound like those childless r/nochildren redditers but sorry I don't want to join a discord server with teenagers. I know this is counter intuitive because hotd is a show with women perhaps the only show with women but I see people saying like the dance wouldn’t have happened if alivent was a boy if Rhaenyra was a (cis) boy and I think it would have happened regardless because of Daemon. Daemon would have caused issues regardless. But if Daemon were a girl. Well he probably would have married Viserys and not given two shits about Rhaenyra. But assuming viseyts still married aemma then alicent. Daemon would be a green wouldn’t he? He’d 100% be grooming aegon instead of rhaenyra.

yeah daemon's a real sticking point. because he's daemon. i think. hm. options:

viserys daemon first marriage viserys still dies relatively early bc of illness and then daemon remarries for power has a baby and leverages the baby as blood of the king or whatever with the end goal of going they're a baby. they cant rule. so i will generously, do it for them,. maybe. i know ive just described cersei. sorry. i dont often think about daemon. i don't know in a less complicated situation where he had the lock on viserys' attention if he would chase power as aggressively or if he would be content to permanent younger siblinghood being included in councils out of respect for dead viserys but not really being taken seriously and having a lot of free time to spend drinking fighting and fucking. am no daemon scholar. to be honest.

evil aunt daemon skulking around. 50/50 split between daemon doing death by dragon to people who question rhaenyra's claim. which would be the series of events if he supports her claim primarily because he loves her and loves viserys. or. purposefully making rhaenyra's route to ascension much thornier . which is the outcome if he supports her claim primarily because of his proximity to power.

this one's a real thinker. it really comes down to if you think his motivating factor is primarily the love(as conceptualized by daemon, conceptualized by everyone else as obsession/possession/jealousy/etc) or the proximity to power. i'm having a really hard time making a call on if evil aunt daemon resents niece rhaenyra for taking daemon's place in viserys' life. or if she goes the step further to alright he loves this kid i'm not gonna get anywhere by hating her so might as well become indispensable to her and by extension viserys. even coupled with the reality that daemon will NOT get wifed up by rhaenyra. the other dimension to this is that daemon just seems so uninterested in alicent + kids. which is obviously based in the fact that he has #picked #his #side. but i'm having trouble visualizing a world where daemon expresses any interest in aegon at all, mostly because viserys is so uninterested in aegon.

i can see the possibility of a daemon who takes aegon under wing and likes him well enough, but it's complicated by the surrounding context of daemon having to pick between allegiance with viserys favorite child, who is unmarriable but the heir, and viserys' cast off kid, who is marriable and could make a fighting appeal for heir. i also think there would be a secondary wrinkle of resentment from daemon over not being part of the draft picks for viserys' second marriage. and i dont know if that resentment would manifest as fuck them kids. or . well second place is marrying one of em. i don't know where daemon would come down on those varied pros and cons list. i've said all this and to end it i'm going to take a swing in the dark and say evil aunt daemon would marry aemond.
