With screenshots cuz I take to many and I'll feel like that's wasteful if I don't at least use them for a post

God, this scene reeks of codependency. But like in a good way, yknow. In an evidence of love way. They just don't want to be apart because they care. And I guess cuz they're scared they won't see each other again.

I love Fadel and his consistent morals. He'd been silent, letting Bison get his anger and revenge, cus that is not his main thing, but as soon as he hears any word of deciet or lies, he's right on his feet getting involved.

For anyone wondering, the first time we saw this was in episode 6 when he was out drinking with Kant, so it might just be what he wears when he goes to get drunk with his buddy. Guess there aren't too many occasions for a mechanic to wear a mid finger index ring. It tends to get in the way a lot when moving (like manual labor). And if you dont wear a ring often, choosing to wear no other jewelry to make your specialty ring pop makes a lot of sense.

I dont remember if Fadel backed down when Bison pointed his gun at Style but if he did (i think so) that contrast shows very well how succesfull Lilly has been in driving them apart by making them all think Keen is less capable (mostly because she just didnt let him train)

Ofcourse he has to brag, has to lay out his success (he could have kept it to himself to use it for longer, but whatever, guess he expects to take him out right here, right now). Because Keen doesn't actually have any negative feelings towards Fadel (except maybe jealousy), he mostly just wants to prove himself to be capable. Even though he is holding the gun, it is Lilly who has her finger on the trigger. Without her constant critique, he would have felt the need to do all this. It's really her words that are driving Keen to do this, not Fadel (and Bisons) actions.

Yeah, and i feel like Keen should know that. Doesnt he know about her killing Fadels boyfriend, and he knows she wants Style dead as well, he has all the evidence he needs to see that Fadel and Bison dont have any more freedom or happiness than he does, just more tasks.

The continual cutting to Style while they talk about Fadels ex probably has to tell us something, but i honeslty can't read that much off his face. Is he jealous?

guys. its such a pretty shot. its so minimal and not anything unique but capturing yao through the flowing curtains... ugh. chef's tongue kiss.

i like the juxtaposition here between yao having told him in ep 1 that he was still whining even though he claimed to be hurt, meanwhile yao is saying that in the past fight he never made it a fuss and was fine to move on with their duties, so she should be doing the same. its cute the way they bicker and care for each other. true sibling behavior.

and yes, of course, any time ziqi can mention pushing fuyi out of the picture, he sure will. though yao is right, she doesnt want to overstay their welcome, even if she does need some time to recover. also... yaos voice is so pretty during these lines. i dont know what about it, but her relaxed composure and cosmopolitan nature is just so nice.

loveeeee how he basically reveals his real reason for wanting to stay (not that it doesnt connect right back to yao, but lets be clear, he has a mystery to solve, and asking her to recover was just a coverup) and when yao wants him to elaborate he just walks away to ponder and she sips her tea. how often is he elusive like this that she just lets him speak half-truths and such?

im not sharing screenshots of it, but i want to comment on miaomiaos interaction with her dad following this scene. i can only imagine how much it was hurting her to see her dad again, but in this universe where, in the book, hes killed for being a corrupt official. as we see later, she would rather sacrifice herself to spare her dad. its not exactly survivors guilt because she wasnt in harms way back then, but it basically is, and i feel so much for her. she continuously says all these words of wanting him to just be safe, happy, and healthy, and i wonder how much of a burden weighs on the real life miaomiao's shoulders because of this. she felt it was her fault because if she didnt get into a fight, her dad wouldve never been called in the first place, and now all she wants is for him to live well, nagging him about his health and being the concerned daughter he deserved, since he was robbed of that. ugh, my heart... how was lin yu so cruel when she had a father like this?!

kohaku's inner monologues are just so, profound and thoughtful, i adore him. he's very caring

I hate hugs on this show bc the models are hard while bodies are soft and it makes hugs look awkward BUT NO this time it looked like Yang's body squished a bit and her hair smushed (i am aware it was prob a illusion of her jacket added with rounded shoulders and that her hair was moved behind her bc it has individual sections that can move because she has more "bangs" than the others but still)

ALL-IN-ALL i loved this episode. Its was emotionally heavy instead of action heavy but it still felt heavy you know? Anyways i love it when characters are touchy-feely and this ep delivered

Hope you don’t mind the (very) long addition to your post but I find this concept so fascinating!(Also I did this once and the page refreshed and I lost it so this is the second go-round)

So I’ve thought about Eve’s hair as a visual metaphor/symbol before but I’d never realized the extent of it until I saw this post. I absolutely love metaphors and I absolutely love Eve Baird so this is special.

As this post points out, Eve’s hair starts in a tight bun. And as time goes on, it gets looser and looser. And of course it has partially to do with Eve’s hair getting longer, but I really do believe it’s purposeful because this gets to be too deep when you really look at it(which I am doing because I’m trash).

So what caught my attention the most when I saw this post was that in the scene at the end of Apple of Discord, a piece of Eve’s hair has fallen down. This scene happens to be one of my favorite scenes, and the one I most point to when I talk about Eve’s layers as a character. Here we see her open up for one of the first times. She’s softer than when we met her, and when Flynn leaves his carnation, she melts. And as this moment has happened for her character, as we literally see part of that tough exterior melting away, a piece of her hair is no longer pulled back.(It’s also notable that at this point she’s already evolved and so has her hair. It’s in a ponytail rather than a gelled bun.)

And then look what’s happened by the end of the season! Look at her hair in Loom of Fate!

The ponytail is super loose and there are pieces that are outside of the updo! That’s a far cry from how her hair looked in Santa’s Midnight Run

And it gets better! Her hair evolves even more by the end of the episode! Here is her hair in the last scene, which we can safely assume is a little while after the events of the episode.

Her hair is down for the first time outside of being undercover at Buckingham palace or being spelled into Cinderella!!!! Look at it not in a bun or ponytail, loose and soft and free just like she is becoming!!!!

Now season 2 comes and it is mostly in a loose ponytail. But she does start to wear it down when just casually hanging around the annex, and even that has an evolution to it.

Her hair gets longer and longer, but look how it changes throughout the season. Here’s what it looks like at the beginning, in “And What Lies Beneath the Stones.”(Again please ignore the screenshot quality I dont have a good download of this ep and I dont feel like getting out my DVDs right now)

Aha! It’s down, but it’s still pulled back. She’s got it in a half-updo now. We’re not all the way through her evolution yet. But the hair continues to change throughout the season. 

As the OPs photos show, her hair is worn down in Image of Image, so by about halfway through the season, the evolution is pretty much complete. Now the hair is long and down and just worn freely in curls. Look at her by Final Curtain and note the difference from Stones

Now, I don’t really feel the need to go in depth with season 3, as OP has multiple pictures of it, and there’s not much difference from the end of season 2. Her hair is pretty much down most of the time now, right from the get-go, unless she’s in the field, in which case she’ll have it in a braid or loose pony. There is one more thing I wanna point out though.

I talk a lot about Eve’s evolution and Evlynn. And I talk so much about how she has this sweet, bubbly layer along with all her toughness. And that’s been brought out since she’s found the Library family, and since she’s found Flynn. And the hair reflects that too. Most often when her hair is down...she’s with Flynn and/or more connected to the softer side of herself. First example....Happily Ever Afters, when she’s literally living what’s supposedly her ideal life.

And just in general....her hair is usually loose/down/free when she’s with Flynn. We’ve joked about it in fandom space and called it the “girlfriend hair” but it really plays into this whole metaphor thing. I mean even from day 1....she’s with Flynn, she’s letting her walls down, her hair is down.

EXCEPT....in 306...when they’re fighting....look what happens

BACK TO THE “HALF” UPDO!!! And how interesting considering so much of that fight was based on the “halfway” idea in their evolution. They weren’t really fighting, or broken up, but something was wrong. They were kinda unsure of what it was. So much of fight was based on that idea of “what are we”, “how do you see me”....and the hair goes back to the halfway.

So take from all of this whatever you please but like....if you desire file it under the archives of “every single thing about this show is an absolute masterpiece”

Evolution of Eve Baird’s Hair

Eve starts out, literally and figuratively, tight and rigid. In season 1, we see a lot of the combed back military bun, the low ponytail, and the business suits. I think Eve saw her position as Guardian almost like just another military posting, with a job to do, and assets to protect. But through the seasons, she started to open up more to the library and to her team. It really shows with her clothes, her hair, and how she interacts with Flynn and the LITs. She has changed through the years. I feel like this is a subtle, but important evolution of her character.
