Block wars is a minecraft event! its pretty similar to MCC in structure & concept (because it has its roots in the MCC testing community), but it's its own thing. like, it's hosted by "capollo media" - that's capollo as in joey capollo, as in MCC Highlights, formerly known as MCC the Show, if anyone is familiar with that YT channel

there have been 15 or 16 block wars events in the block wars origins series, which has that friend group/smaller cc playerbase that made up the majority of the block wars roster until now. today was block wars 1, the first event from the block wars series with a player base of majority/all content creators! YIPPEE

block wars has 40 players, like MCC, but instead of 10 teams of 4, theres 8 teams of 5! the names of the games are also all very.. uh. ... the names are kind of boring NFL. "move", "race", "battle", "construction" are all unfortunately pretty nondescript. but its fun! im personally a fan of "party" as a concept, which is like a short gauntlet of a few different party games.

basically: if you LOVE mcc and want more events like MCC but cant stand twitch rivals minecraft's formats, consider checking out block wars! it's a pretty good event, not quite as polished & professional as MCC but I would never expect it to be. its usually far less scuffed than like, idk. dotwav events, anyway. (FROM MY EXPERIENCE)

today was a bit cursed for some reason - shoutout purpled bluescreening during race, at least 10 ppl missing checkpoints in race and running way more laps than was necessary, kara's graphics card crashing, llama's computer also exploding, all of the lag & ping issues NA players had bc thr server is EU, and also lockieness - but I swear to god it's not normally like that THEY DONT NORMALLY HAVE TO REDO 1.5 GAMES I SWEAR. THIS IS LIKE THEIR MCC 7/MCC 14 OKAY

anyways block wars is cool n fun heres the Block Wars YT channel and heres natcrackers' Block Wars VODs playlist. several players have also made highlights videos, like this video from notsouls of block wars 13

(which reminds me - I should archive the gummywroms and ironstarr BW POVs I saved a couple months ago. Another thing on the to-do list!)

to clarify I am nowhere near as knowledgeable about block wars as other people might be HOWEVER i think block wars is a cool little event and especially now that the Block Wars series playerbase has spread to much larger CCs it has a chance to really get more eyes on it

You hadn’t felt excitement like this since you received your invite to the Dream SMP, barely containing your smile as you sat on the train on your way to spend the day with your three best friends. You’d known Ranboo, Tubbo and Tommy for a good few months now after you met them through the server, and your friendship quickly solidified and morphed into an iconic group known as the “Bench Squad”, and today was the day you’d finally be meeting them in person.

It’d been agreed that you’d meet in London, film a Tom Simons vlog, and then meet up with Wilbur, Philza, Jack and Niki to film another vlog for your own channel before spending a few nights at Tubbo’s house. You had a busy few days ahead of you filled with recording and streaming but you couldn’t care less; you knew these were about to be the best days of your life. You passed the time with your airpods in your ears with your guys’ collab Spotify playlist blasting through your ears and catching up on missed vods and YouTube videos, when eventually the train came to a halt at your stop.

This was it. You were about to meet the people who meant the most to you.

You pulled out your bags as quickly as you could, not wasting a single second that could instead be spent with them. Shoving through the congregation of people and stopping one or twice to greet fans who recognised you, you made your way over to a less crowded area of the train station to shoot Ranboo a quick “where are you?” text. It took a few anxious minutes for him to reply, but once he did there was nothing stopping you from practically running to where they waited.

And there they were. You could see them not too far away now, two tall figures and a slightly smaller one stood in a row, looking around as if they were waiting for someone. It was then that you were struck with an idea, what if you just…

You snuck round to the other side of where they stood, making an effort not to be seen. You crouched down a little and creeped towards them, praying none of them turned round.

“BOO!” you shouted, successfully scaring the three of them and even a few poor strangers around you. With a smile you jumped straight into Ranboo’s arms, and you held each other tightly as the four of you grinned like children on Christmas day.

“Y/n!” Tommy and Tubbo exclaimed in unison, while Ranboo simply commented on the pun you accidentally made. You chuckled as you pulled away, wiping the tears from your eyes and readjusting your bags. This is the moment you’d been waiting for for so many months now.

“How was the journey?” Tommy asked after you’d greeted them properly and had begun to make your way out of the train station and to the location of where the vlog was going to be filmed.

“Wasn’t too bad, it was a bit scary doing it on my own and it took way too long but it could’ve been worse, I guess.” you replied, the smile seemingly glued to your face. “Where are we going again?”

“This way,” Tommy led you through many busy roads and you really wished you had somewhere to put your bags, which is why you were grateful when Ranboo offered to carry one of them for you. You thanked him profusely, rubbing your sore shoulder from where the heaviest bag had been resting. It took a while to get there so Tommy decided to film the vlog intro while you were all walking, though soon enough you found yourselves standing outside the great entrance to London Zoo.

“Here we are,” Tommy said as he held his phone up to the sign, clearly out of breath from all the walking, “We’re at the zoo!” he showed you and the other two on camera and you all waved, just as worn out as he was.

You went in and got all the registration sorted, and now you were free to do as you pleased! As you walked into the main area the gorilla enclosure immediately caught your eyes and you ran to see them, Tubbo in tow. Tommy started complaining to the camera as he caught up to you and Ranboo simply laughed, standing back and watching the “argument” you two were putting on for content.

The four of you walked around the zoo for a while, filming the majority of it and laughing and joking around with each other. You were having the time of your life, and it was far from over; you couldn’t wait to meet the others.

“Hold on a minute…” you interrupted Tommy filming Tubbo trying to get an Alpaca’s attention as a certain species caught your eye, and being close to the one and only Wilbur Soot made it impossible to miss. “Are they anteaters?”

“Thank God Wilbur’s not here, huh!” Ranboo chimed in, walking over and standing beside you. This still didn’t feel real.

“Can we go and see them?” Tubbo asked, but there was hardly a chance of anyone saying no. So now you were on FaceTime with Wilbur (who was already with Niki) as he gushed about how much he hated those damn creatures, pulling up the infamous list. None of you could stop laughing rather loudly and you certainly got many dirty looks, but you didn’t care.

The aquarium was quite something, too. One of the staff members got particularly mad at Tommy for tapping on the glass and shouting at the fish while you recorded him for a bit, which was definitely a sight to see. Needless to say, you rushed right past that woman the next time you guys saw her.

You saw so many incredible animals and had so many laughs with your friends, and you didn’t leave until late afternoon. It didn’t really matter though, there wasn’t much planned for your vlog. You guys made your way out of the exit and caught a taxi to take you to another place, wrapping up Tommy’s filming there. You admittedly almost fell asleep, but the calm conversation you were having with Tubbo kept you awake.

The taxi eventually pulled up outside a post restaurant which is where your vlog was going to be filmed. You didn’t choose anything too extravagant, the plan was for a short but entertaining video with you and your friends. It took about ten minutes of standing and waiting for the other four to turn up. First it was Philza, of course he was the only one on time. You suspected Niki would’ve been too, but she was probably being held up by Jack and Wilbur.

“OLD MAN!” you shouted, zooming in on him as the first clip of your vlog. He burst out laughing as he greeted you, asking if the others were here yet. “Nope! Bet they won’t be here for another two hours.” you joked, stopping the recording and talking to Phil and the others until they did eventually turn up.

Soon enough all eight of you were sitting at a table in a fancy restaurant, trying to decide what on earth you were going to order. You were squished in between Ranboo and Wilbur which made you feel particularly small, and Tommy was laughing at you from the other side of the table, Niki jokingly scolding him for being mean.

“What? I didn’t do anything!” he retorted, amping up his personality for the camera again.

“Neither did Y/n and you’re being mean to them!” Niki said, a smile evident on her face as you caught her eyes and laughed.

“Thank you, Niki, I believe Tommy should learn his lesson from a responsible adult.” you thanked her, Wilbur tuning in from his conversation with Ranboo, Tubbo, Phil and Jack.

“Tommy, stop being a dick.” He said bluntly, causing you all to burst out laughing.

“I agree.” Jack said with a deadpan face, earning an eye roll from Tommy.

“Oh, shut up Manifold!” He whined, failing to notice the very confused waitress standing over the table, waiting to take everybody’s orders. Phil was, of course, the one to apologise for all the commotion and you all took turns to let her know what you wanted, going straight back to your previous antics the moment she left.

You left the restaurant hated by most people who were in there, and you all found it funnier than it really was. You said goodbye to the adults and finished up your very chaotic vlog, making your way to another train station and taking the train back to Tubbo’s house. You got back quite late and all of you pretty much immediately crashed after such a busy yet fulfilling day. And it was the first of many.

If you've been to one of our Pub Nights before, then you already know Lillian. Her bio on Conline claims that she is "several unionized lizards disguised as a functional concom member", but (while we won't dispute the unionized lizards, on the grounds of awesomeness) we can tell you that she is also the librarian of the U.S. branch of the K/S Zine Library and in the process of preparing the relaunch of this branch. 2. Upcoming deadline: Con Zine!

If you want to submit your fic, art, poetry, meta to the KiScon zine, here's your friendly reminder that the deadline of 1 August is soon upon us! For submissions and also any and all questions about the zine, please get in touch with our editor Carleen: kszinesubs @ gmail.com.

3. KiScon Discord (“KiScord”):

Avid readers of our newsletters might ask how many more times we will dedicate a paragraph to our KiScon Discord server. The answer is easy: as many times as necessary to get y'all to join it. It really is important that our con attendees use and are comfortable with Discord; it is not "just another social media platform", but a vital tool for the online convention.

We have a walkthrough with many screenshots (pdf) that you can download from our website. This document explains to you all the steps of creating a Discord account and joining the KiScon server. After creating your account and joining the server, don't forget to accept the #rules by clicking the emoji with the Vulcan salute – it will automagically make the various channels of the server appear. 1lostone is always happy to help you with any and all technical questions: 1lostone @ kiscon . org

Art show / auction:

A virtual con means a virtual art show, but we want it to be as glorious as in person. This fandom is rich in talent and creativity, and we hope to showcase a great variety at KiScon 2022. This year's art show will be presented via a slideshow vid that will be accessible all throughout the convention weekend, much like an exhibition in the Rec Room. You can submit both digital art and traditional art (paintings, drawings/prints, but also three-dimensional artworks like sculptures, amigurumi, fibre craft, jewellery etc.); traditional artworks and physical items need to be either scanned or photographed. The show itself is purely digital and welcomes pieces from all K/S fans, not only registered con attendees. Please submit your artworks or the scans/photos of your artworks via this form. Deadline: 1 October 2022. Good-quality files in jpg or png format (300 dpi) are recommended. Please include your exact artist name and the title of your works, plus any kind of information (e.g. medium, year of creation) that you would like us to mention. The artworks do not need to have been created for the convention, but can be as old or new as they come.  If you would like to not only show your art but also offer it for sale in the auction, please make sure to tell us for each artwork you submit and include the starting bid. In the case of digital art, the winning bid will then get a very high-res file of the work (to set it apart from the version featured in the vid and auction catalogue). In the case of traditional art you will send it to the buyer in its physical form. The online format of KiScon 2022 does not make it possible for us to organise the actual exchange of money for art; it would not be feasible for us to store the physical artworks and send them across the globe to the winning bidders. This is also why we will not take any commission this year! We'll gladly help buyers and artists to keep track of all purchases and match you up with contact details, and we will keep a watchful eye on the process to ensure fairness and accountability, but each buyer is ultimately responsible for transferring the money to the artist, and each artist for making sure the artwork gets safely delivered to the buyer.  If you would like to dedicate one of your auctioned artworks or a percentage of it to this year's charity (to be voted on during the con), to the support of KiScon itself, or to Ukraine, please let us know at the time of submitting the artwork. Artworks submitted by their artists for auction will not only be in the art show vid, but also featured in an auction catalogue / gallery that will be part of the digital goodie bag each con attendee receives via Conline. Should you want to offer an artwork or item in the auction that you have not created yourself, for example something that you once bought for your collection but now would like to send to a good new home, then it will only be featured in the auction catalogue / gallery, not in the slideshow vid, as we cannot ascertain the permission of the artist. 1. Be nice! this is a community for everyone to come together and love on a character and the actor who portrays him. We wanna keep this place as a safe space for all fans, so please respect one another. 

2. No drama. If you’ve got some beef with someone else, please squash it or take it elsewhere. We’re here to enjoy each other’s company, because let’s be honest, it’s tough to find other Negan fans out there. If the admins feel like you and another user aren’t getting along, you will be confronted and asked to deal with it, or risk being kicked out. We will shut that shit down. 

3. Be supportive! Some ideas may be completely different than yours, and that’s totally fine! Respect and support all head-canons and ideas of who Negan is. If you have an issue with the way someone else views him, please re-read rule 2, or, if necessary, report it to the admins. Other than that, just take a deep breath and move on.

4. Racism, homophobia, sexism, and all discriminatory hate is not acceptable of course. If you show any signs of any of the mentioned, you will be banned from the server immediately, no exceptions. 

5. Have fun! Once again, this is a safe place to love on Negan and the Saviors! Do everything you can to make this place exciting and joyful!
