the way some people straight up have no respect for asou's writing is actually kind of insane to me 😭 like youre a fan of HIS manga, but you outwardly express your disregard for the intentions he had when writing....... disregarding canon can be super duper funsies and cool sometimes, but to straight up say "i dont care what he intended and think my headcanons are more canon than what he wrote because i think he wrote it badly/he sucks at writing this dynamic/i dont like the ship (or whatever) he was trying to imply" is literally just insanely disrespectful IN MY OPINION 😖

i think maybe im just annoyed at how badly people misuse the words "canon", "coded", and "implied" (which im also guilty of occasionally- especially when i first came here) cuz like... "i choose not to acknowledge this thing that is canon or technically canon or implied" is fine (usually). "i know what the author intended but i dont like it or care, so im going to call my headcanon/ship canon and anyone who disagrees is disregarding canon and is stupid because i said so" is NOT fine... ☠️☠️☠️

Idk why the fucken... Divide between "it was alternate universes" & "Paul is just trans" ideas for Petscop has to be torn into a cavern. Paul being trans DOES make sense, but requires you to ignore huge details that immediately make it not work. The alternate universes DO kind of make sense, but require you to extrapolate out a lot of info purposefully left unshown.

It's hard to describe what i want to say, here -- i do think Paul being trans makes sense, 'splains why he & Care "look eeriely similar," you could argue he's just thoroughly blocked out that part of his life enough to have forgotten Care entirely, etc. I like it, & i keep it as i also say "Yeah, it's that & the universes theory." It's not two switches that demand you can only flip on one of them -- you can have both. You can have neither. Do whatever

I had a tag essay late last night that I think I'd like to break down a little better today. plus it's basically almost p.ride month. and the dash icon is already repping the n.onbinary flag. it's the right time.

gender neutral descriptors > feminine descriptors > masculine descriptors, in order of io preference. masculine is... flexible. masculine is more acceptable if immediately paired with something feminine. but there are certain words that will almost immediately curl io's lip, that they prefer to just. not hear at all. like handsome. they hate handsome.

"feminine descriptors and masculine clothing and a full face of makeup makes the brain go brr" enough said. thank you for coming to my ted talk. this is base, default io. this is not to say they won't happily wear feminine clothing, because they will. the world is their oyster. they will gender-neutral things with their existence alone.

io likes to combine as much as they can into their appearance, their stance. the way they sit, the way they act. it's wet clay to them, and they will sculpt it how they wish.

at the end of the day though, io really is just. nothing. they want to be nothing. the body is a vessel and sometimes it just absolutely does not match their desires at all. sometimes the desire is simply to unmake. perceived but not perceived.

io and their experience with gender is very human. it's also very inhuman, because io is not, at all, a true person. they're human... shaped. they're their magic, with a pretty wrapping. this is, vastly, exactly what they consider themself. and they find the pretty wrapping constricting sometimes. io's magic is them, the rest... sometimes it feels perfectly fine. and sometimes it just really, really does not.
