IMMACOLATA & CONCETTA, L'ALTRA GELOSIA (1980) dir. Salvatore Piscicelli This is an uneven presentation of the tragedies plaguing the lives of two women from the lower economic strata in Naples. Immacolata is married, bisexual, and runs a butcher shop that is not bringing in much money. Concetta is a lesbian, doing manual labor and now serving time for taking a potshot at her lover's husband. Immacolata has also been put in jail for guiding a young woman into prostitution. Immacolata and Concetta develop an intensely passionate relationship in prison and after being released, they defy Immacolata's husband and society's scorn by moving in together. But external threats are not as destructive, in the end, as internal contradictions. (link in title)

The Ultimate Sterek Supercut - on vimeo
#teen wolf#sterek Rights#the lore#this is alltheir scenes. yes it's only 1hr16 which appears to feed the 'it was all made up from nothing' side of the argument#BUT - u have to realise that the showrunner CHOSE to drastically reduce their interactions once he became aware of the sterek fandom#truly a fandom has never been turned on the way that tw fandom was. the backtracking . Incredible to remember#was it bc d o'b hit it big w the maze runner films. was it bc tyler p was mad people paid more attention to the ship than to him#the main character.... was it JD's feeling of spiralling loss of control#this was the first fandom i remember ppl CAMPAIGNING for the ship and saying it was literally going to happen. and - more than that -#saying this ship was BETTER than certain other ships. beCAUSE it was going to happen. and /or bc it COULD happen#and they were not totally wrong right? bc this show made such a big deal out of being gay friendly 'this is a world without homophobia' &c#And yet that was a shallow statement bc the show had such a twink-centric view of sexuality. I saw a gif where Tyler P talked about how#great the show had been for the LGBT community and - I remember plenty of Gs but no Ls Bs or Ts u know#hah ok i just googled . there was a one episode lesbian couple - one of them DIED and the other went on to hook up w stiles. yell.#representación.#Vimeo#vids#reference#sterek

3am pacing around the room in a heated debate with myself over which movie should fill the 4th slot on my letterboxd profile
#what autism does to a motherfucker#the first 3 are romeo+juliet 96/to catch a thief/scott pilgrim#rope is a STRONG contender but idk if i can justify 2 hitchcocks out of 4 slots. that’s a bit much#i might even like rope more but to catch a thief is just that important to my identity#2001 aso is also a strong contender as is contact. i haven’t seen either of them too many times but mostly bc i was too blown away#2001 is obviously That Movie but contact made me experience an entire new emotion at like 13#i have not watched it since my dad died and i truly don’t know if i can ever watch it again. god#dead poets is also a legacy choice but like. has it truly earned it. yes it has but STILL#last candidate is portrait of a lady on fire for obvious lesbian reasons#one of the hardest i have ever cried at a film is the last like 3 minutes. deep painful sobbing i’m so serious#but again! does a particularly emotional viewing experience necessarily mean it goes in the top 4?#most importantly it does not fucking matter except for i like categorizing and making lists so it matters to me#i think the answer is i have to rewatch all the candidates but the problem is all those films make me so emotional it wipes me out for days#so watching them all is hydrogen bomb (5 fave movies) to coughing baby (me making lists)#ok. ok i’m going to try and go to bed now#if u read all of this and want to be letterboxd besties my @ is m_worm#orating!

found my ancient mp3 player recently. finally found a charger for it and plugged it in. and remembered i found a yt playlist of the whole httyd movie chopped up into like 20 videos and i downloaded the mp3s of all of them to listen to on the school bus. which is why i can effortlessly quote the whole first movie now
#i was. unhealthily obsessed with that whole franchise#oh my god i just remembered i used to write rise of the brave tangled dragons fanfic oh my god 😭#i didn't publish much but i had an irl friend also in the fandom and we shared a quotev account to publish stuff together#i still remember the full name she used online#we both used our main characters names online- Rosa and Sara#though i sometimes went by Jenny bc canonically Jenny was Sara's name before she changed it the second she wasn't on earth anymore#(<- EGG. EGG. EGG. EGG.)#(like legit the second she got isekaid she cut her hair super short and changed her name-)#also sara canonically had the ability to absorb others' souls when they died and then shapeshift into them majoras mask style#(<- EGG CARTON. EGG CARTON. EGG CARTON. EGG CA#sara was dating jack frost bc of fucking course she was. also she had fire magic#Rosa was with Hiccup#and then we had another fic with Kate and Billie who were sisters#years after me and the irl friend stopped talking and i reworked the characters into their own original stories#Billie ended up in a lesbian relationship with a girl named Raven#and they ended up finding Billie's long lost infant sister and raising her like their own kid almost#also i say i wrote RoTBTG fanfic but honestly. i did not care much for tangled back then#i included Rapunzel because i didn't want to seem petty like i was just cutting out the girl i didn't like#bc i did like her just not enough to write her#but she never like. Did Anything#if anything she was usually stuck talking about politics with Stoick and meridas parents and couldn't adventure much#such is the life of a royal i reasoned . so i do not have to have her there and be bored by her#usually i replaced her in the quartet with fucking Melody from little mermaid 2 bc i was unreasonably obsessed with that since childhood#i watched little mermaid 2 before the actual first film because we owned the vhs and i was SO obsessed with melody i LOVED her#i also wanted to become a mermaid and loved singing#so i just. found ways to shoehorn her in#i do not remember everything that i posted and everything that stayed in the vault#bc when me and that irl stopped talking we both deleted Everything in a fit of 14 year old rage and pettiness#I've long since deleted the quotev account- she actually kept using it for years and i let her cause i wasn't THAT petty#but it was under my email and since i noticed she seemed to have abandoned it and i needed to delete the email. it is now gone

Ok so I just finished Anna Karenina 2012 after reading the book abt a month ago
what the fuck
It felt like they still had around a third of the book's plot to go but then Anna just died and we cut to Levin having a completely different epiphany?? Then it ends with Karenin watching Annie and Seryozha play?????
Like I get that it's basically impossible to cram all of Anna Karenina into one feature-length film but goddamn
#And don't get me started on how this movie portrays karenin#In the movie Karenin is SO much more sympathetic than he is in the book but?? They also completely removed his most sympathetic chapter??#Same with Vronsky although to a lesser degree I feel#THEY ALSO CUT OUT LIKE HALF OF LEVIN AND KITTY'S STUFF#KITTY NEVER WENT TO THE SPA TO GET CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND DEVELOP A SECOND LESBIAN CRUSH ITS SO TRAGIC#Levin's brother Nicholas is there yes but like??? Barely#THE CHAPTER WHERE HE DIES ISNT EVEN ONSCREEN#And it's like?? One of the most important chapters in the whole book??#oogh#Like dont get me wrong Levin's chapters are a drag but#THERES NOTHING THERE IN THE MOVIE#Also I can understand why I guess but for as much as Christianity is discussed in the book it's barely relevant in the film

Erica Ash died from cancer today. It really is a shame she never got her big break in Hollywood. But that isn't to say she didn't make an impression.
I knew her from The Big Gay Sketch Show. Then she was on the last season of MADtv. The next really notable thing I watched her on was Survivor's Remorse (M-Chuck, one of few Black lesbian characters ever, still). She was also hilarious on The Real Husbands of Hollywood. Speaking of which, she produced tumblr's favorite meme on that show:
I think the very last thing I saw her on was Legacies. She played MG's mom, and she was so good. That was the first time I'd seen her play a dramatic role.
Ah wait no she was in Horror Noire, that's right! I recommended that to you guys! It is so good!
Seems the last thing she was in was a family horror film with Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Jennifer Coolidge called, 'We Have a Ghost' last year. So I'll be checking that out soon!
R.I.P Erica 😔

Random Robin Headcanons
She was named by her parents putting their names together (Robert and Ingrid)
Her paternal grandmother is French
She's allergic to shellfish
She had a secret 'relationship' with Carol Perkins the summer of '85
Her gender is lesbian
She always smells faintly of lavender
Her birthday is November 10th (she's a Scorpio)
She's like catnip to the sapphics of Hawkins but she is painfully oblivious to it
She has a tiny pinprick scar on her neck from where the Russians injected her (Steve has a matching one)
She also has faint scars around her neck and wrists from the vines in the upside down
When she has nightmares, she wakes up in a panic and needs to call Steve to hear he's alive
She spends most of her time at Steve's house rather than her own
She's an only child
She goes to Stanford for college and double-majors in film and linguistics
She'd be a college professor when she's older
She's terrified of being forgotten and being nobody to anyone
Her parents had a baby because it "made sense" for their relationship but quickly discovered they had no actual interest in parenting. She has a bad relationship with her mom and an okay relationship with her dad
Both her parents are nurses. Her father dies in an attack on the hospital post-s4
Her middle name is Josephine, picked by her grandmother Jocelyn (in Josieverse, this is where she gets the name)
She has freckles all over her body
She has AuDHD
She's read the entirety of the Lord of the Rings series but refuses to let any of the party find out because she thinks it's funny to annoy them by deliberately getting things wrong (she calls Bilbo "Dildo" once and Dustin gets so heated trying to correct her that he turns scarlet)
She has poor circulation so her hands and feet are always freezing. She uses this to be a menace 100% of the time
After Starcourt, she's afraid of being high
She's made friendship bracelets for everyone
She wears only silver jewellery
She's a great cook but gets distracted easily so Steve and Nancy usually keep her company
While Steve has his nailbat, Robin tends to use either a crowbar or a machete
Her favourite Christmas song is 'Stop the Cavalry' because of the trumpets
She and Steve have necklaces with each other's initial on them

Propaganda
Lauren Bacall (To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo)—"Just put your lips together...and blow" excuse me ma'am i'm briefly going to turn into a kettle. She's the quintessential Femme Fatale who may betray me in the end but I'd let her it'd be worth it
Gloria Grahame (It's a wonderful life, Oklahoma, Human desire, The Cobweb)—I'm just going to link to this Film Comment article by Donald Chase, who makes the argument more eloquently than I can, although I think Grahame's Ado Annie is more than just the 'flirtatious goofus' he offhandedly describes her as. Between that role and Violet Bick in 'It's a Wonderful Life" she's played two of cinemas best irrepressibly horny ladies. That would be legacy enough for our hot vintage queen, but she is also GLORIOUS in 'In a Lonely Place' and consistently pulls focus from her co-star Humphrey Bogart, famously one of the most charismatic leading men of his day. I think she had even more, and hotter, chemistry with him than he ever had with Lauren Bacall, which is saying a lot I know. Anyway, your honor I love her and I want her to win it all.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Lauren Bacall:
youtube
"She is soooo neat. And hot. And everything. That one scene in To Have and Have Not where she says "you know how to whistle don't you? You just put your lips together and blow" altered my brain chemistry during media archaeology class and here we are."
"Lauren Bacall was a major lesbian awakening for me. Every picture of her makes it look like she’s about to destroy you physically and emotionally (why is that so hot, I may need help). She had incredible long running chemistry with her husband, Humphrey Bogart, but was an absolute star in her own right. I’ll never be over my crush on her."
"She's got that confident, no-nonsense air about her. She's a boss babe who knows what she wants and gets it DONE. Staunch liberal Democrat her whole life. Campaigned for RFK. From Wikipedia: "In a 2005 interview with Larry King, Bacall described herself as "anti-Republican... A liberal. The L-word". She added that "being a liberal is the best thing on Earth you can be. You are welcoming to everyone when you're a liberal. You do not have a small mind."" Beautiful hair. Beautiful eyes. Beautiful lips. She's just beauty. LISTEN TO HER VOICE. TELL ME THAT'S NOT THE STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF."
"HER VOICE. Like yeah, she was absolutely stunning but oh my god, I'm obsessed with her voice"
"A gorgeous lady inside and out. One half of an absolute power couple with Humphrey Bogart, tended to him and other actors suffering from malaria whilst filming the African Queen, generally radiated grace and poise throughout her life. Also her last role was in Family Guy so she needs justice for that"
youtube
"The VOICE, the SLINK, the EYES. Woof."
"She was stunning. Tall and beautiful with a distinctive voice and able to carry her own in a male dominated field. She won the heart of millions, including one of Hollywood's most iconic leading men, Humphrey Bogart. Their story was the stuff of legends, and the chemistry between them was apparent in the multiple films they started in together. She personified the film noir dame and yet she also adapted as Hollywood changed. Her career spanned decades, and she was honored multiple times."
Gloria Grahame:
Absolute Hollywood vamp, who had a fine comedic bone. Died far too young and was depicted by Annette Bening in the stellar Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool
I’ve heard she’s horrendously miscast in Oklahoma (I have not seen it), so if you’re coming in with that framework PLEASE set that aside because gods does this woman shine in a NOIR!! She plays the battered woman more than a full on fatale, but she manages to bring interesting nuance to characters who are written as mere sultry divergences! Also: she’s sultry and an EXCELLENT divergence
She could do sexy, sweet and sinister in the same breath. She was crazy talented and had that lisp that melts me every time.
