~a/n: I’m a simp for strong, gentle dragon man. Here’s some sfw Jiyan headcanons. I’ll probably do a seperate post for nsfw headcanons for him. It’s been a long while since I’ve last written so hopefully I’m not rusty.

Protective and doting boyfriend! (will defend your honor) Not really but he knows how dangerous it is outside the city so he doesn’t like to let you walk alone without him so he can guarantee your safety. He knows you’re capable of handling yourself but he can’t help but worry. He doesn’t have that much relationship experience due to most of his life being focused on battling tacet discords and protecting Jinzhou city and its people. Although he may not know much regarding relationships, he’s a quick learner and you can’t really tell that he’s that inexperienced due to how well of a boyfriend he is to you. I can see him being the nurturing and mothering type. What I mean by that is he pays attention to your wellbeing and health, making sure you’re eating right, making sure you’re happy, etc. Your well being comes before his. Man can cook. You will be well fed when he cooks for you, making sure you’re eating a healthy, hearty meal. He’s a really good listener and will put all his attention on you when something’s bothering you. He’ll do everything he can in his power to dispel your problems and to ensure that you’re happy.

Not the type to really be into pda. Not because of his duty to portray a respectable image of being a General everyone looks up to but due to preferring to share your affection for one another behind closed doors without watchful eyes that are usually on him in public. The farthest he’ll go with pda is hand holding or having you rest your hand on the inside of the crook of his elbow. Plus all the elders would probably tease you two if they saw you being lovey dovey in public. It’s already hard enough with them seeing you guys near one another. The elders always ask you two about wedding bells and children. Your cheeks burn red while Jiyan coughs, closing his eyes to stop himself from blushing as well and just tells the elders maybe in the future. This causes you to hide your face into the side of his arm as shyness, warmth, and giddiness overcomes your senses. He smiles down at you and adores your cuteness. He seems like he’d be good with kids. Maybe a little awkward and quiet but he’s sweet, caring, and gentle. He wouldn’t mind having a family with you in the future. Hopefully when things have calmed down, he’ll ask you to marry him and you two can start a family.

He is such a gentleman. He always asks for permission before doing anything he thinks you may be uncomfortable with. Instead of buying flowers from the shop, man actually plants his own flowers and gifts them to you. He would create a special flower that would represent his love and affection for you. (He would for sure propose to you in the middle of the little garden he made for you under the twinkling lights.) Speaking of lights, he loves stargazing with you. It’s one of his favorite activities with you. Just laying in the soft grass, enjoying the night breeze and cuddling close to one another as you enjoy the peacefulness with one another.

Good kisser. His favorite type of kisses are long, slow, passion filled kisses. He wraps an arm around your waist, holding your body close to his while his other hand gently cups your cheek as his lips connect with yours, electricity shooting through the both of you. Everytime before he heads out onto the battlefield, he always makes sure to give you a long passionate kiss that takes your breath away because he doesn’t know when he will be back or if there’s a chance he’ll make it back, so he wants to make sure you understand his undying love for you in case he doesn’t make it back home to you. He also likes forehead kisses. Sometimes when he returns from the field and he really missed you, he doesn’t leave your side for a while and always has a hand on you. One time, he came close to not making it home from a field mission that when he stepped through the door to your shared home, he wrapped his arms around you and held you for a long time. You swear you could feel him shaking a little, you got worried that something bad happened. After a few minutes of silence, he told you what happened and that he was worried he wouldn’t see you again. You cupped his face in your hands and peppered kisses all over his face until he melted into you and was finally calm. You told him that everything was okay and all that mattered was that he was here with you now. Although he was grateful for your comforting words and affection, he still didn’t stray far from you that whole night. At bedtime, he held you tightly, nuzzling his face into your neck as you combed your fingers through his hair and rubbed his back. Due to the exhaustion from battling and the comfort of your gentle touches, he quickly fell asleep. He did wake up a few times during the night worried that you were gone but he calmed down once you realized you were still in his arms.

He likes doing mundane things with you when he has the time. Sitting in nature together, enjoying street food, drinking tea while having idle conversations, reading side by side, etc. Sometimes he gets lost in thought as he gazes at you while you are doing something. He’s busy admiring the serene look on your face as you pick flowers, the gentle touch as you carefully put the flowers together into a crown, then the bright smile that graces your beautiful features as you place it on the top of his head. You break him out of his trance by placing a hand on his cheek as you call his name. You ask him if he’s ok and he replies by taking hold of your hand and turns his head to his lips to press a kiss on the inside of your palm. He gives you a loving look and rids your worries and says he’s just admiring his wonderful s/o. Giggling, you lean into him, pressing a soft kiss on his lips.

He’s insecure sometimes and gets lost in negative thoughts of the failure of protecting his fellow fallen soldiers. When this happens, just hold him please. He has a lot of weight on his shoulders from the responsibility and grief he carries on a daily basis. When you hold him tight with his head resting on your chest and tell him that it’s ok, that weight is lifted a bit. He forgets his negative thoughts when he’s with you.

Lets you play with his hair and help him put his hair up. Ngl it’s hard to not be a little jealous of his long, soft, beautiful hair. He gets so relaxed when you’re doing his hair. He has fallen asleep sometimes. You try multiple hairstyles and have even put flowers in his hair. You couldn’t help how ethereal he looked. He didn’t really understand but he didn’t mind your adoration for him.

So. What's up with the duplicate statues in Eden?

If you've played Sky: Children of the Light and gone through The Ascent, you may have noticed these statues:

And you'll know that the Vault has the same exact statues:

Now the question we're asking here is why.

Of course, I have a theory in regards to it that ties into a couple of other theories, but it's gonna be long and probably a little complicated, so buckle up.

TL;DR will be at the bottom of the post for a simpler(and less all over the place) explanation!

Now, I'm going to start at the beginning with something that may seem completely unrelated:

Take a look at the top of this broken building in the Battlefield.

Does it look familiar? It should.

It looks like the vault masks.

That's odd though, isn't it? The Vault Elder is, well, the Vault Elder. They belong in the Vault.

To that I say: what if they weren't always there?

What if that building used to be their temple?

Almost every other Elder has their own building that serves as their temple and little else; why would the Vault Elder be any different? They're certainly just as important as every other Elder, so why would they be singled out?

Some more evidence for the broken building being an Elder's temple?

Look here, in The Seed's spirit memory:

The spirit was a medic that treated and aided soldiers on the battlefield, and this displays them in a Medic's tent. Where? In the broken building.

Other than it being the arguably safest structure aside from the Vault, there's...no real reason for it to be here of all places. They could have had it anywhere else; this is in the thick of the fighting, after all, the entire map is called the Battlefield for a reason. But there's a reason it was here.

Why?

Well, the Elder's temples are sacred. They're holy places, not to be trifled with, even in the midst of a war, they're like churches. And what was guaranteed if you took shelter in a church?

Sanctuary.

Unfortunately, this doesn't guarantee its outside will be particularly safe from conflict, especially toward the end of the war. Survival began to matter more than walls, I suspect, and it's clear from the Lookout Scout's memory sequence that even then, this place was broken down; potentially from Dark Dragons, potentially from the Ancestors. Unfortunately, we currently have no way of knowing for sure.

On the topic of placements and symbolism in the Battlefield map, though: there's also all of this imagery of the King leading up to the Wasteland Elder's temple.

Let me suggest to you the following as an answer to why:

Eden was not always the primary residence of the King.

Before you grab your torches and pitchforks, hear me out. The Eden Castle was not always there, and this is explicitly shown in the Aurora concert during Warrior, but also the fourth quest in Season of Passage:

No castle.

Now, what does this mean for the King? Well, logically they should have them residing in the otherwise safest place in the Kingdom—like, perhaps, a Vault.

Now we're getting somewhere.

Let's go back to the statues.

Many theorize that they're graves, due to the fact that there's one in each temple and when you sit, you're taken to the respective cutscenes that feature the Elders in their limbos. I disagree.

I think they were communication lines. Every Elder will need to contact one another at some point, and other than the Windpaths, there's really no shortcuts through the realms; thus, the statues function as telephones in a home network, if you will. If one person picks up the line while others are having a conversation, they can listen in as well.

Who needs to have a way to contact every single Elder?

The King.

A ruler needs to be able to conveniently contact the others that help them run a kingdom, especially at a moment's notice, and phones don't exactly exist in the Kingdom. Thusly following the path of logic here, wherever the King is, there should be each statue for each corresponding Elder.

Once the castle became the primary residence of the King, now that the Vault Elder was no longer close by, there was a statue added to the arrangement; this also explains why it's just sat in the middle of them instead of up with the rest.

There is one other thing, though.

What's up with the Wasteland Elder?

After all, if the Vault was the primary residence of the King, and the statues support that, then why and how does the Wasteland Elder come to inhabit that building?

I have a few thoughts on that too.

Let's take a look at the Wasteland Elder, for starters.

They look like a soldier. Which is no surprise, really, seeing as they were in charge of what is now the Wasteland, and the war that seems to have primarily taken place there.

I have another thought though.

The King needs a guard, or more accurately, the Prince does. Sure, there is plenty of power when you are the King, but before that they was a Prince, and there are always precautions that should be taken with the future ruler of your Kingdom.

From what little we see of their character, the Wasteland Elder is protective. Defensive. Willing to do anything to safeguard what lay beyond that gate. They had to learn from somewhere. That instinct has to come from somewhere, because they clearly have worked themselves to the point of absolute exhaustion in their efforts to safeguard that gate.

To this, I ask you: what better protection is there for a Prince than a Star?

Of course, once the Prince becomes a King, and Eden is more than adequate as a safe spot for them, this Star needs to be put somewhere else.

And the Wasteland still needs a protector. After all, the Dark Dragons at this point must be becoming a problem, and Darkstone production is likely growing larger and larger by the day; the people need someone to keep them safe and reassure them that all will be okay.

Who better than a Star that already knows everything about protection and defense? Who has the necessary experience? Who has likely had to manage other guards that helped protect the Prince?

TL;DR: Before the fall of the kingdom, while the King was still a Prince, before the Castle was built the Prince resided in the Vault. And before the conflict in the Wasteland, the Vault Elder's temple was the broken building we now see in the Battlefield. This explains both the King imagery leading up to (what is now)the Wasteland Temple(which also doubles as the entrance to the Vault) and the symbol atop the broken building that resembles the Vault masks.

During the period of time before the Prince became the King, the Wasteland Elder was assigned as their protector, explaining their intense need to defend the Vault 'til their last breath. Afterward, once the Prince becomes King, they are reassigned as the Guardian of the Wasteland, charged with overseeing its people and the Darkstone production taking place there.

Because of the fact that the King resided in the Vault and the Eden Castle, there are versions of each Elder's statue in both places due to them potentially being communication lines instead of graves. Or, at least, they used to be communication lines and were turned into graves for the Fallen Stars after the Fall of the Kingdom. This also explains why each statue takes us to that specific Elder's limbo space; they still, technically, function for their intended purpose.

Of course, this is all just one huge theory made up of a bunch of smaller theories and doesn't have the greatest evidence but. Alas! I am prone to overthinking details in the Funny Light Game.

I wonder how Ajaw’s baby would look like 🤔 A direct copy of Ajaw? Pixel? Dragon? A mix of all three? Ajaw’s technically a projection now, which makes me doubt his real form is pixelated, so probably not pixels?

If Kinich somehow had a guarantee that the kid would turn out more like him than Ajaw, he’ll be jumping on that dragon dick without hesitation!

Imagine after a nice long fuck, his partner of the day casually asks him when did he develop his breeding kink? Kinich, being the blunt fucker he is, just goes ‘Ajaw’ and proceeds to give his partner a whiplash because whAT DO YOU MEAN YOU GOT IMPREGNATED BEFORE BY THE??? TINY PIXEL LIZARD?? HOW?? 🤣

Camp Two wanna fuck him so bad they look stupid!! They’re capable of SO many things, but unfortunately defeating Kinich isn’t one of them. His stamina is simply too good + he’s a raging masochist. So no amount of bullying can break his spirit! He thrives on it instead! Maybe that’s why he could get along (Somewhat) with Enjou/Sanka so well. It’s masochist on masochist communication HAHAHA

And of course, we can’t forget Trinidad! As much of a hater as he is, I don’t think he’ll actually do half of the terrible things Camp Two would. He’s still an elder of the tribe and a generally decent guy (I don’t like him denying Huni her dinner when he scolded her for lying/recklessness, but it’s pretty obvious he was struggling a LOT with grief during that time). Not only does he prioritise the tribe’s safety over tradition (I wanted to watch him argue more with Wayna 😩), Kinich himself says the tribe needs people like Trinidad, which emphasises that he’s an okay person!

If anything, he’ll denounce the other members of Camp Two, being like ‘don’t be disrespectful even if you don’t like him! Be the better person!’ and then turn around and guiltily wank to humiliating Kinich 😳 We also don’t know if he has a living spouse, but if he does, I’d love to imagine his partner being supportive in his desire to wreck Kinich. They’re usually monogamous but because Kinich is THAT annoying they decided to make an exception for him HAHAHAHAHA

If they’re going to do it, Kinich’s going to have to be the one initiating. Once he’s serving himself up on a silver platter, though, there’s no way in hell Trinidad will be able to resist. That’s when all the nasty stuff will come out!! The most tame it’ll be is Trinidad aggressively fucking his mouth so he can’t talk back, scolding him with stuff like ‘Not only are you some Mora-obsessed degenerate, you’re also a loose slut! You can’t be further from a hero!’ While Kinich’s just. Super turned on plus super amused at how mad Trinidad is! The more aggressive end of their sessions can get highly physical, with scratching, biting, slapping etc.

Now I can’t get the mental image out of my head: Trinidad sitting on the edge of a bed, face in his hands, dying of guilt/horror/denial/shock at just having the most mindblowing sex with someone he hates. Post nut clarity in its finest. Meanwhile, Kinich’s staring impassively at Trinidad’s naked, scratched-up back planning to goad the elder into fucking him again 🤣

18. Kissing: tongue or no tongue?

I mean, she's a charr so the use of her tongue is a bit of a given when "kissing". [Headcanon time: the concept of "kiss" was not a thing for charr due to the lack of proper lips to "kiss" with, and was later sort of "imported" after more peaceful contacts with other races that have actual lips, yet never taken that seriously. The charr equivalent of kissing between mates is rubbing muzzles together and licking each other, so tongues meeting is not uncommon. That said, licks are exchanged during reciprocal grooming with anyone close enough, and bumping heads is a common affectionate or comforting gesture between warband members or friends. Overall, context matters.]

20. What do they like that nobody else does?

It has been thoroughly tested by Dragon's Watch that: 1. she will always accept to finish your food when you ask her, no matter what it is. 2. if asked, she will say she likes it, even when she makes the funniest faces while eating (certain unripe fruits are a guarantee for it). 3. any sort of strong spices will never bother her for long, not more than the things they've seen her sample.

When asked about it, she just shrugged it off as her experiences in the Mists having changed her perspective on food, not really elaborating any further.

[Basically, like any good Pact Commander, Aurelia can eat whatever and not die from it, with the boon of having magical self-regen on top of it.]

27. Forgiveness or vengeance (or…)?

It's... complicated, and one of the themes that filled her many restless nights after EoD.

Forgiveness isn't something taught to charr cubs, not outside of the necessary cases to keep soldiers from killing each other over nothing. The thirst for vengeance comes easy to her people, and it is as good of a weapon as a sword or a cannon when pointed in the right direction. Aurelia had eagerly accepted Glint's offer to take revenge on the Elder Dragon that had done so much irreparable damage before she fell into the portal, further pushed by the fear of what could have happened in her absence. It felt right, at the time, forgiveness was not an option.

The thing about vengeance, however, is that it's tiresome, if not all-consuming. It leaves so much destruction in its wake, and one mistake is enough to get caught in it. Aurelia never really recovered from the exhaustion following her experiences in the Mists, but there was no space for forgiveness with Zhaitan, nor with Mordremoth. It was a fight of self-defense against nature itself, but no Tyrian went into the fight without an inkling of thirst for vengeance, and it never took long for it to grow into hate. Aurelia felt that hate so many times, not just for each civilian or soldier she had seen fall, but also for her warband brother turned into a shambling creature, for the pain of those who looked up to her to find a solution, and for every single scratch parting her son' fur. Vengeance felt right once again, and she kept going, fueled by it, feeding into it. The irony wasn't completely lost on her, but she had no choice.

Then Aurene's egg, her hatching, seeing her grow... Aurelia doesn't know when exactly, but things shifted towards the hope she brought, towards a possible alternative to simple vengeance, because she was proof not all dragons were like that. Aurelia used to be Goredragon once, and she had changed her name not long after her son was born, albeit for different reasons. The Gore name had remained since then, but it had started to feel heavier than the dragonling that had become her daughter, so she changed her name again, this time for that reason as well. Burn it, they had to protect the twin elder dragons when they realized that the Pact's vengeance was, well, actually really bad for everyone.

But vengeance still was the only option that seemed available. Kralkatorrik's last moments had made Aurelia wish with all of herself for a way to forgive Aurene's grandfather and spare her the pain, but it had to be done, and something within her still wanted it. The Twins struggled against the cycle that chained and dragged them deeper into the same consuming madness, and Aurelia wished for anything but vengeance until the last moment, if anything, to spare their Champions. In their miraculous survival, one asked for forgiveness for his necessary recklessness and vengeance, the other lashed out and doubled down on the choices he decided were destiny. And in the end, Soo-Won never forgave herself, slowly consumed along with her children by the mindless vengeance of the nothingness she tried to stop. Vengeance was part of the cycle, forgiveness was just a wish in it, something to beg for after the fact at most, and it was all out of mortals' hands. They just... survived.

Aurelia mulled over that a lot, and yeah, for all the hate and hopes she had over the years, every action she had taken was ultimately for survival, her own and the world's, no matter how she thought of it. Now that the cycle is no more, she wants to believe that forgiveness will come easier, that it has to in times of peace. It sorta worked with the kryptis, right?

29. What recurring dreams do they have?

Aurelia doesn't exactly have recurring dreams or nightmares, but one thing that sometimes shows up often is the corruption she had encountered during her time in the Mists, when [redacted] and she barely escaped it. As for what it is, she can't describe it, her mind blocks it again the moment she wakes up, but it happens often enough for her to never forget it.

The Elder Sister

Request: can I please request a Maggie (charmed) x sibling reader who goes to Tartarus instead of her and she’s really protective of the reader?

A/N: Well, requester, your wish is my command! (I'm trying to get through my requests, so sincere apologies that this is coming out so so late, but I'm trying) Also, she's the eldest sister of the charmed, like she's not part of the charmed trio but shes the first-born.

Warnings: fem!POV (Because I just learned that that needs to be in a trigger warning), Tartarus/hell, witches, yup thats about it.

The deal was done. The price set. One Harbinger in exchange for Harry. A fair price, an impossible price, yet one they were willing to pay. With the innocent-looking paint can in hand the Charmed ones and their eldest sister made their way to Dante’s workshop, their sights trained on a singular goal, the release of Harry Greenwood.

Dante’s workshop was unassuming in nature. A rather large lock store with an intimidating owner who had a rather macabre sense of humor. The warden of Tartarus was a fair demon, his loyalties were to Tartarus, which made him rather unbiased, an admirable trait for a demon. Yet, he hated being tricked. And the infamous Charmed ones had tricked him. A decision they’d soon regret.

Dante stood before the four witches, menacingly opening the gate of Tartarus, before grabbing Maggie. As he was about to throw the witch in, she stopped him using her whip, the metallic coils wrapping around his arm, immobilizing him, “Warden,” she said, her voice echoing through the small space as she approached the aggravated demon.

“You will not imprison this witch within Tartarus.”

“And who’ll stop me? You pay when you cheat Dante.”

“If it is payment you need, I will pay the price, I will go in her place,” she said as she entered Tartarus before anyone could stop her.

"No!" Maggie's cry echoed as the gates swiftly closed.

In a snap Dante broke free from his bonds, chasing the three witches away with the final words, “The Harbinger for her.”

Tartarus was hell, in all senses of the world, with its fire-y pit and the dragon guarding the cells, it’s hissed words taunting her, drawing forth insecurities that remained well-buried for decades.

"The eldest, the forgotten, the misfit, the worthless one," the dragon intoned, yet the most piercing was the epithet, "Uncharmed." A creature deemed worthless, forever neglected.

She was a mere burden to her sisters; she was of no use to the all-powerful ‘charmed’ ones. Her depressing thoughts echoed within her being as her body was wracked with pain from the scorpion’s stings.

Her world slowly grew darker as she sook respite from the pain, yet even her dreams were filled with poison. She sent a silent prayer to whoever was listening, wishing her sisters would rescue her as she drifted into a fitful sleep.

Maggie’s hands shook as she handed the unassuming paint can to Dante. His ring crackled against the rim as he chuckled, “This is the Harbinger all right!”

As he moved to claim the paint-can, Maggie pulled it away, “First, you have something that is ours. Harry and our sister. Return them and the Harbinger is yours.”

“Fine,” Dante grunted as he unlocked the gates, “But I can’t guarantee they’ll be in…. mint condition though.”

She stumbled through the gate with Harry leaning heavily against her.

She felt like she could finally breathe as fresh air filled her lungs. Looking at her sisters’ tears welled in her eyes as she took a staggering step towards them. Maggie rushed forward first, hugging her sister. Her voice cracked with emotion as she mumbled, “Never do that again.”

Their sweet reunion was short-lived as a voice spoke aloud, “Oh what a sweet reunion!”

Their heads swiftly turned towards the entrance as they saw Alastair Cain. “Good evening, everyone. You have something that belongs to me.”

The workshop crackled with magic as Alastair unleashed fire with a mere flick of his wrist. She watched her sisters, huddled together, cowering, panicking, wondering what to do. Protectiveness flared within her as she slowly crawled from behind the cabinet, screaming, “Captus aqua. Captus terra. Captus aere. Captus ignis,” as a shield slowly formed around the fire-y demon.

“You think a measly shield will hold me, witch?” He spat in disgust as his flames grew more powerful with his anger. He unleashed more fire at the shield, till it formed tiny cracks.

She felt the strain on her magic as the demon ripped her shield down, layer-by-layer till she could feel him slowly break to the surface.

Turning to her sisters she tearfully said, “GO! Get out of here! I can’t hold him for much longer.”

“No! We’re not leaving you again,” Maggie said, desperation in her eyes.

“I’ll always be with you, Mags. All of you. Now go,” she said as she turned to the demon once more as he tore apart her magic with his flames. Her sisters dragged Harry out of the workshop quickly as she stared the demon down. She could almost feel the sweltering heat as he burned through the shield till there was nothing left.

She stumbled back from the force of his attack as he stepped towards her, his shoes echoing against the floor, “This. Is for your insolence,” he said, conjuring a ball of fire within his palm as he menacingly raised his hand. She closed her eyes, willing everything to end quickly as the thought crossed her mind, ‘At least my sisters are safe.’

She heard a scream in the distance as a violet light flashed behind her eyelids. She opened her eyes to see her sisters standing protectively before her as they conjured a shield with their collective powers, pushing against Alastair’s flames till he discorporated, escaping the Charmed ones.

They swiftly turned towards their eldest sister, huddling around her as she slumped against them, finally within the embrace of safety as she heard Mel whisper, “Thank you for protecting us.”

“Always,” echoed Macy and Maggie. She smiled slowly as her vision slowly darkened, the exhaustion and exertion of her powers caught up to her.

She awoke with a start, expecting to see the large green-eyed dragon yet she was pleasantly greeted with the familiar walls of her room. Her soft mattress sunk under her weight as she laid down once again, nuzzling into the sheets as her body relaxed.

“You’re up!” she heard a chirpy voice say from the door. She opened her eyes, seeing Maggie, her youngest sister, her favorite.

“Mags,” she whispered.

“I got you some hot chocolate. It’s in your favorite mug too!” she said excitedly as she approached the bed, carefully placing the cup of thick hot-chocolate on her bedside table. She sat on the bed, talking a moment to look at her sister before she broke the silence, “Never do anything like that ever again,” she said with a lump in her throat as tears welled into her eyes, “I wouldn’t know what to do if I lost you.”

She looked at her younger sister with affection as she slowly pulled her into a hug, softly reassuring her sister that she wouldn’t be parted from her, “Mags no one’s taking me away, not if I can help it. They’ll have to claw me out of your grasp before that ever happens,” she cuddled her sister closer as the two laid on her bed, reminiscing on their shenanigans while sipping hot chocolate. After a while Mel and Macy joined too, forming a small circle as they traded stories with each other, some exaggerated, some not and in that moment, wrapped in her comfortable blanket and enveloped in the comforting presence of her sisters she finally thought, ‘This is where I belong. This is home.’

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get to this! Rather than write a summary for a fic, I ended up writing a drabble instead ^^;;

I really struggled with this one because I love dragons so I had a lot of ideas but in the end I decided to go with dragon!Reiji x reader (plus mentioned dragon!Shuu x reader).

TW: yandere characters and forced captivity.

Drabble:

Reiji hated visiting his elder brother's hoard. He couldn't understand how any dragon with even a semblance of pride could stand the state of the place; the complete lack of organization that had priceless tapestries strewn next to worthless baubles in a haphazard manner all over the cave floor.

There was, however, a lone shining gem he looked forward to seeing on his visits here.

You.

Contained behind gold-plated bars, positioned in the middle of the hoard surrounded by piles of treasure and cheap trinkets.

Today you were wearing a simple silk gown, the same sapphire blue as Shuu's eyes. The quality looked decent enough, but Reiji could not help but frown at it regardless—the outfit did little to flatter your natural features. As he gave you a once over, his mind drifted to the garnet covered corset hidden away in his own mountain top dwelling, made by one of the foremost artisans from the nearby kingdom and acquired by him shortly after he'd first caught sight of you in your gilded cage.

"He's not here," you said, not even glancing up from where you sat on a raised plinth draped in pillows and silk sheets. "I can play messenger if you want, but you know as well as I that there's no guarantee he'll do anything with the information."

Your voice was clear as it echoed through the cavernous space and Reiji was once again reminded of how much a crime it was that his older brother had found you before he had a chance to.

He loosed a sigh as he shifted his form to something more humanoid, his body contracting and twisting into a shape that was foreign to him but more familiar to you. It wasn't as though there was really any need to—your dealings with Shuu had all but forced you to cast aside any primal aversion you may have once felt to viewing one of his kind—but it was easier to stand closer to your cage like this.

"Typical, of course the good-for-nothing would rouse himself the moment I have word to deliver from Father. Do you have any idea when he might be back?"

You finally looked up at him, your pupils seemingly hollow in the dim light.

"I didn't ask, I never want to give the impression that I wait for his return." The slight hint of venom in your tone was not lost on Reiji, and it soothed some instinct deep inside of him, the one that kept him up at night wondering exactly where Shuu had stashed the enchanted key he used to keep you prisoner.

"I suppose I cannot blame you for that, even if it is unfortunate to be at the mercy of that useless lout's whims." The words weren't a lie but the irritation lacing them was. How rare that he should have a chance to speak to you without having to watch Shuu drap himself all over you. 

“I don’t suppose there’s any chance I could convince you to let me out of here while he’s gone, is there?” you asked with a smile that didn’t meet your eyes.

Reiji turned his gaze to a handful of golden coins scattered to the side of your cage before replying, “do you truly think you would make it very far?”

“No. Well—” he saw you shift at the edge of his vision, “—I don’t want to give up on the possibility completely, even if it’s unlikely. Do you think I could?”

“No,” he said crisply. “The harsh conditions, combined with how long you’ve been idle in that cage mean you would be unlikely to even make it halfway down the mountain, let alone to a human settlement.”

“Ah, I see.” Your flat tone led Reiji to settle his gaze on you once more, seeing now how you had pulled your legs up onto the plinth and wrapped your arms around them. “Would you—would you do it anyway? I know you and Shuu don’t exactly get along, so I thought if I had any chance of leaving here then it would be…” you trailed off, retreating further into yourself. 

“So you had thought I might act as your knight in shining armor? Hmph, how very optimistic of you—and ill-informed.” Reiji stepped closer to the bars so that he could run a taloned finger along one. “As much as I might be loath to acknowledge any hint of competency from him, Shuu knew what he was doing when he had this constructed. The bars were forged with ore from our homeland which means—” a sharp screech rang out as Reiji pressed down with his talon against the metal, scratching off a small section of the gold plate and revealing an unblemished dull gray surface underneath “—it is quite resistant to draconic power. The only way to open it is the key.”

Your expression fell further. 

“He always keeps it on him and hides it with magic whenever he’s with me, I don’t think… I don’t think there’s any way I can get my hands on it.”

“I see,” Reiji replied, keeping his tone carefully neutral as he lifted his hand away from the bars. “However, if you did have a chance of stealing it, would you honestly have the courage to do so?”

“Yes, I’d—I’d do anything to get out of here.” Your fingers tightened around your calves, digging into the silk of your gown.

“In that case, I may be able to offer some assistance afterall, although it comes with certain conditions.”

Your eyes snapped towards him as you leaned forward. 

“You’d do it? You’d really help me?”

Reiji allowed a faint smile to play at his lips. “As you’ve noted, in spite of our blood connection, I do not regard Shuu with any sort of fondness. So yes, I shall provide you with the means to obtain the key to your prison under the instruction that you wait until I am present to use it. I have no intent of aiding you in a bid for freedom only to be blamed for your demise when Shuu finds your frozen corpse somewhere on the mountainside. If you truly want to escape him by a method other than death then you have little choice but to travel with me.”

”I can wait,” you said quickly, climbing to your feet and standing so you were less than an arm’s length from him. “I’ve already waited more than long enough, I can stand it a bit longer if I know it’s not forever.”

“Good, in that case close your right eye.” You did as asked and Reiji slipped his hand through the bars, resting his thumb on your eyelid as he sent a pulse of his power through it. “Now, your hand.” No sooner had the words left his lips, than your hand was hastily clutching at his own, desperation clear on your features. Reiji might have almost found it pitiful if you weren’t playing perfectly into his hand. His magic weaved its way from him to you, glowing faintly purple before sinking into your skin. Once sure the spell had taken, he removed his hand and took a step away from the bars, savering the lingering feel of you and committing it to memory.

“I have granted you the ability to see through draconic magic, although only temporarily so you will have to acquire the key swiftly. Once you have located it, simply take hold of it in the hand I just enchanted and it will create a copy, one you can take while leaving the good-for-thing none the wiser.”

“Thank you,” you said softly. “Thank you, I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to repay you for this.”

“There is no need for you to worry about that,” Reiji turned away from you, the sinister smile on his face hidden from your view, “I’m sure I shall think of something.”

Alright, time for another Monster Hunter wishlist! This time instead of just monsters I would personally like to see, I'm going to try and put a bit more focus on monsters that will fill unique niches in an environment, or interact with the environment in an interesting way. Doing it this way since, if my assumptions based on one very short trailer are correct, that's going to be a focus in Wilds!

List itself under the cut so I can really go in depth! I also have a lot on this wishlist, so it's going to be long regardless.

As some context for how I'm thinking about this game, several of the more recent major monster hunter games have really seemed to hone in on one particular aspect of the game, and worked on expanding or perfecting it.

Generations had an impressive monster roster, with lots of very unique additions and a huge returning roster. Tons of variants, and a some really cool new monsters that didn't use existing skeletons.

World eliminated load times between areas, and made a world that felt connected and more natural. You feel less like you're in a series of arenas, more like you're actually in an environment with these monsters.

Rise focused a lot on controls and mobility/maneuverability. Lots of verticality, as well as tons of new moves and abilities for various weapons, streamlining of certain weapons, and customizable move sets. You are encourage to explore and jump and climb, making it feel like it had another dimension that even world didn't quite have.

With that context for my thinking explained, let's start off with an unsurprising portion of this list; as usual, I want to see underwater combat (and the leviathans and piscene wyverns that go with it) make a comeback! Rise gave us more three dimensional combat and movement that worked beautifully, so I think they're really primed to bring back water combat in a way that feels much less clunky and slow. Specific water monsters I would like to see include:

Gobul: TOP of this list tbh. Not a favorite fight of mine, but I think if you want a monster that's going to make a water environment feel more alive and interactive, Gobul is a great choice. It's also very distinct appearance-wise!

Lagiacrus: a popular choice, and a cool one! I'm biased since Tri was my first monster hunter game, of course, but I want to see Lagiacrus get to shine again with its full move set, including under water moves.

Ceadeus: this one I wouldn't count on even if it was guaranteed that water combat would come back. BUT I love it, this elder dragon that exists at the intersection of whale, slug, and buffalo, is such a majestic monster, and it has great music to boot. My tri bias is showing, but even though it wasn't the most interesting fight, I still love it a lot and would love for it to get another chance in a game where water combat could be so much better.

Now for non-water monsters! I'm hoping for lots of monsters with less used skeletons, and ones that would play around in detailed environments in a fun way. To make the environments feel complete, a diverse cast of monsters will be key. As a result, a lot of my choices are Frontier MonstersSome of my top choices include:

Malfestio: a beautiful monster, and an extremely unique one! I would love to see it make a return, and I think it would really stand out in any monster hunter roster.

Kecha Wacha: really just a funky monster. Weird and memorable, and I think it feels distinct enough from any other monsters to be a worthwhile addition.

Qurupeco: Not only does it look unique, the ability to summon othe large monsters to its location is super interesting, often annoying, and a really unique behavior.

Nerscylla: a giant spider just feels like a surprising monster to not use more often. With how big the "small monster" insects are, it makes sense that there are big spiders around! I honestly just want to see more insectoid/arachnid-like monsters in general. They already have some neat ones, but it feels like they get put on the back burner a lot. On that note...

Seltas Queen and Seltas: a duo! Not many monsters in the series actually function as a duo together in combat, and there definitely aren't any in the main series on the level of these two. Monsters that interact like this are fun, and it feels... not necessarily more realistic, but definitely better than, say, Rathian and Rathalos just sort of beating each other up on accident while both trying to fight you.

Najarala: I think more monsters that feel snake-like would be fun, and Najarala is a good option. It's scales and sound based attacks are cool, and I just like how it looks.

Tetsucabra: the giant tusks and bright colors make it really striking, visually. Plus, there's not many frog-like monsters! Also, I love the armor for Tetsucabra.

Zamtrios: on the topic of frog-like monsters, this one is somewhere between frog and shark! With three different forms it can switch between in battle, it's a really fun fight with a lot of variety. I'd also like to see this guy maybe get a chance to try out underwater combat, but I can live without that for Zamtrios, it already does so much on land.

Bulldrome: A nice low level large monster that would still add a bit of variety to things! A bit annoying to fight at times, but I think it would just work nicely in a game with more focus on the natural aspects of thing.

Nibblesnarf: a really funky looking monster, and one that would be cool to have in that desert from the trailer. Being able to feed it bombs when it charges you is a fun bit of its fight, and I think seeing it ambush small monsters while you explore the desert would be just the right amount of cool and concerning.

Namielle: Genuinely, the fact that Namielle was introduced in a game that gave it almost no attention whatsoever pains me. What a cool elder dragon. It has that deep sea bioluminescent look, and it's fight felt so distinctive.

Gigginox: The little giggi spawner egg sacs it lays are a neat little hazard, and I think Gigginox is just a really distinct looking monster. I personally prefer it to Khezu, but that's purely personal preference. I feel like Gigginox is a fun cave dweller, and a bit more interesting than Khezu is to me.

Gammoth: PLEASE capcom you give us the rest of the fated four but not my BOY? IN THE GAME WITH ADDED VERTICALITY IN COMBAT? This big guy could have been so fun but you are simply cowards who hate him and me.

I decided to make a separate list of Frontier monsters, as well as Monster Hunter Online monsters! These ones are always less likely to make it into a main game, if they stand a chance at all, but still. Frontier's particular penchant for unique monster gimmicks lead to a lot of options with distinct appearances, and abilities that could make use of the environment in fun ways, and generally I would just like to see some monsters that haven't gotten to shine much in the main series. Frontier and Online monsters I would like to see:

Forokururu: a large, hummingbird-esque monster that gains different buffs and abilities based on what color of flower it drinks from. This gimmick would be such a fun way for a monster to interact with the world, plus this is one of my personal top choices, and a monster I would kill to be able to fight for myself.

Baruragaru: the blood sucking ability, which is somewhat similar to Forokururu's nectar drinking in function, would be really fun! I live when monsters have abilities that affect or are affected by other monsters. It makes them feel less like things that happen to be in the same space and more like creatures sharing an environment.

Pokaradon: the only monster that looks like a walrus/seal, so a good way to give a diverse monster roster! This is a monster I would love to see given a shot at underwater combat.

Akura Vashimu: a scorpion! This falls into me wanting more arachnid/insect-like monsters in the games, just to help round out the roster. We have so many reptile and mammal-like monsters, I think more monsters like this one would help things feel more varied.

Caeserber: a big beaver monster could have some really fun environmental interactions! Chewing down trees and building dams would be a really fun behavior to see play out, but even if that's too much, just seeing beaver dams could make the world feel a bit more connected to the monsters. This one is from Online.

Tartaronis: another Online monster, this is an elder dragon that inhabits a desert area and has a body shape similar to a sea turtle! Thinking about it, it feels so odd that we don't have more distinctly turtle-like monsters in this series.

I don't expect to see most, if any, of these monsters in the game. I would love to, as I think all of them would be fun additions, especially for newer players who may not have gotten the chance to fight a lot of these monsters yet. I hope to see a lot of them, especially certain ones that I think can really add a lot to an area, but I don't expect it. Just like I hope for water combat to return, but don't expect it. Either way, I'm already really excited for this game. I may have my gripes about every Monster Hunter game, but I would never say they disappoint me. Even if my assumptions about this game are wrong, I expect to have a lot of fun playing it, and I can't wait to get a good look at any and all new monsters it brings to the series!

I knew being into BG3 will bring me back into Slayers and today I already woke up with Filia thoughts! I definitely want to do a playthrough as Filia ul Copt at some point and it will be the 1 run where I know for sure I won’t romance Astarion, but will try to befriend and help him as IC. And here is the thing… it won’t be easy but Filia was able to persuade Lina and the gang, even Zelgadis, to go along with her quest. Threatening Astarion won’t work like with Lina, but it got me thinking about Filia’s character.

In the beginning Filia was the type of character for whom the purpose excused the means. She had no qualms with threatening Lina and exploiting her weakest point - her sister - at least twice. She even proudly confesses this view while arguing with Xellos. It is wrong when Xellos does the same thing because he is a Monster, but it is right when she does it because her goal is better, morally superior, as a servant of the Gods. 

It is an important part of Filia that changes as the story progresses, especially when finding the truth about her kind’s past. The golden dragons dared to excuse a whole genocide for the so called purpose of peace and were down to do a lot more damage going by the same principle. It is clearly a fundamental view of the golden dragons that serve the Flarelord Vrabazard and proclaim themselves as the keepers of peace, and that was ingrained into Filia throughout her life at the temple and simply by living exclusively among them. 

Yet, in the face of all that happens starting with the scene where Almayce appears in the temple, she is capable of opposing it. She opposed her leader, her own kind’s teachings and views, she searched the truth of their history and faced with the grim proof she renounced priesthood. Sure, being exposed to Lina and the gang helped, but she genuinely retained enough freedom of mind and desire to do the right thing. I don’t think it was an easy thing to do. Centuries of views and beliefs don’t change in the spare of 5 minutes just like that. It would have been so easy to just obey the Elder, or even agree with him, when he wanted to give the Sword of Light to Almayce and sell the other worlds to doom as long as it meant to keep DarkStar out of this one (a deal that had no guarantee but Almayce’s word, that could have very well been a lie). Yet she did not. She thought for herself, and opposed the Elder, and sided with Lina and went on to search the proof for Valgaav’s serious accusations.

The whole story’s moral conflict revolves around this - does the purpose excuse the means? With everyone having their own stance, through which alliances are made or broken and conflict is born between parts of different views. And it is interesting how their views change, not just for Filia, but also for Almayce, for his pals, even for Xellos that comes to better understand his Master and his own stance in all this. Also can’t go without mentioning my favorite thing about TRY, that it questions the purpose itself! the purpose of the eternal battle between Gods and Monsters, the purpose of maintaining the current world, the balance, the peace.

I might have deviated a little but Filia starts as someone for whom the purpose excuses the means, and realizes that it is not always the case, and shows enough strength, freedom of mind and genuine desire to do good, and stand by what she believes is the right thing to do and not blindly follow her people’s ideas.

dragons are so fascinating and have soo much potential. like. they COULD be feral and a little violent and deeply in touch with their more animalistic instincts, especially DRAGON dragons, where they aren't a humanoid species. or they could also be very gentle and intelligent! just a huge gentle giant who is consciously aware that it has the capacity to be destructive and therefore does its best not to be <3 or they could be a blend of both, depending on the circumstances they're in. and i think that's so cool. dragons are so cool.

ohhh this question is so fascinating...... i'm not completely sure, really. something to do with change, resilience, and transition, i think. rebirth maybe. the transition between life and death. the transition from cisgender to a non binary eldritch horror (/hj). major life changes. something like that, i think. transformation. not metamorphosis though because i do not like flying insects! but you know. things like that maybe!!!!

so with Hextech ARAM gone from Wild Rift and URF currently up, something that has occurred to me is that URF just... isn't fun. for me, at least. after pondering on why exactly this is, i think the reason is because URF just breaks everyone.

it's not the same thing as HexRAM. HexRAM made everyone overpowered, or at the very least, put the potential to become overpowered in your hands. you could build different combinations of augments to either amplify your champions strengths or just cover their weaknesses. champions with good mobility could decrease its cool downs, throw armor on top, and leave explosive trails. poke champions could start throwing salvos of true damage missiles at you with every ability hit, or steal veigar's passive (albeit at half the gain rate). hell, there were so many tank augments that anyone could have been one. it was another layer of decision making on top of what was already there, and i think it was done really well.

URF, however, has the issue that some champions benefit far more from having almost no cooldowns than others. some abilities don't benefit at all from having reduced cooldowns. champions that usually need to play safe because of their long cooldowns are free to be as reckless as they want with it, and these become the champions that end up sweeping entire teams. it becomes a matter of knowing which champions you have to pick rather than the champions you want to pick. it gets even more messed up, then, when you play ARURF, because you're stuck with whatever champions you get, and you could end up with multiple champs who don't have as much of a power spike from reduced cooldowns as others. champions that are meant to be late game tend to suffer the hardest because there's no time to farm or play it safe when almost everyone can tower dive or invade far easier than they should be able to.

basically, i think it's a matter of agency. with something like HexRAM, anyone has the potential to become overpowered, but it's up to you what that means and how you want to build it. the randomness of the augment system helps balance it a little because you're not guaranteed to get your favorite build on a champ every time (*cough cough* elder dragon soul *cough cough*) but there are still options available to you to make the most of it, even if only as a support to the lucky one on your team who got the ideal build. in URF/ARURF, if you don't have the right combination of comically busted champions on your team to counter the comically busted champions on the enemies team, you're going to get overrun in a way that feels neither enjoyable nor respectable.

So I have recently seen Dragon Age: Redemption with the amazing @dalishious and boy if it wasn't an experience. But while we were laughing and commenting the decision to make a rewrite of the serie came up and I offered myself for the job as a fun writing exercise to start my blog. So here we go. This is made with the assumption that we are in the middle of Dragon Age 2 Act 1, because that's what I understood?

Dragon Age: Redemption (Of A Plot)

-The movie still starts as it does in canon, with Tallis doing a voiceover while looking dramatic, because that's the type of things Tallis does.

-The first difference is when Sarebaas (the villain) walks in to interrogate a prisoner elf. Instead of doing weird unknow magic, Sarebaas cut the elf palm and uses his blood to compel the elder elf to talk. So we estabilish a familiar narrative element since the start and don't have to suffer bad visual effects because blood magic is incospicuos

-Tallis still gets told by the qunari that she is Tallis again and there is a mission for her ecc, but the qunari also add that they intend to destroy the Sarebaas once reunited because he got corrupted by staying away from the Qun. They have no idea of Sarebaas plans, they just want to follow the Qun and would kill him even if he was loyal. (As seen in DA2)

-Tallis meets Cairn (the Templar) while handling the racist asshole with the necklace of elven ears and Cairn does his "leave him be he is my prisoner in the name of the Chantry". Cairn doesn't show any concern that the guy Tallis is handling has literal *elven ears* as a necklace, only that it's only his right to apprehend him and for separate reasons.

-Tallis mocks him for being a good church little soldier, that's fine. But she doesn't tell him she's qunari (why the fuck my Hawke wasnt informed but this bitchy Templar yes Tallis) and doesn't propose to work together at all. Cairn treathens Tallis, saying that Knight-Commander Meredith told him to recover the "escaped apostate" immediately and he has the authority to arrest her if she doesn't collaborate. He's the one who wants to "work together" but at HIS terms.

-Tallis quickly makes some cool rougue move and ends up with her daggers at Cairn troath, before telling him to say to Meredith hello and knocking him down. Then, with the informations she got from Necklace Racist GuyTM she leaves for the Dalish Camp. Since this is Kirkwall and there shouldn't be more than one dalish clan for area, the clan we meet is actually Clan Sabrae.

-While she is with the dalish, Tallis hears some yelling and sees Cairn somehow found her. She asks him how and he says that before being a templar he was helping his father, who used to hunt for their village, so he knows how to follow tracks and followed her here. She compliments him for being "not totally usless" and decides to tell the dalish to let him in saying her "he is with me, we are all elves so I garantee for him" bit.

-No they are not going to have a romance.

-Clan Sabrae is NOT IMPRESSED and tells her that while they accept any elf as part of the people, Tabris is a guest and qunari and doesn't has the trust of the clan. Surely not enough to guarantee for a Templar. In the end they let Cairn in (because plot) but they tell him he will be guarded by their ex First, who's visiting, and will have to leave his weapons to them.

-Being an usless Templar, Cairn is all like "how dare you I work with the authority of the chantry, savages" until a dalish snaps at him that their patience is growing thin and he can enter weaponless or not enter at all. Cairn makes A Face and accepte, saying that he has to complete his mission and his superiors made clear the importance of the task (yes Meredith yelled at him. *world smallest violin plays*)

-The Keeper is busy doing... Something. Maybe she's talking to Audacity and it's an hint to the events of DA2, but they as said before they can talk to their ex First and also the actual First.

-Merrill cameo! :D But what the hell is she doing here? Well Merrill, because she is good like that, cares for her clan even if she's not part of it anymore and came to help when she heard what was going on. Hawke and co are busy on adventuring atm, so it's just her tiny badass self.

-Merrill obviously infodumps them about the mask of Fen'Harel, because Merrill is a badass. Instead of saying that they don't know what it does she says the Mask has many powers and it was always treated carefully because you do not call the Dread Wolf without risks. She says usually the Mask was used to amplify the power of a mage wearing it in moment when there was great need of consulting the Fare.

-Cairn probably says some shit about the mask having to be destroyed or demons but let's just assume that's 90% of his dialogue and ignore him. Maybe Merrill gives him a verbal burn, she's good at that.

-There is still a missing mage from the clan, the elf who was interrogated by Sarebaas at the start and he was Keeper Marethari's *brother*, but was took away from the Templars. (Or hell even just a respected magical elder, as you want)

-They also talk to the new First of the Clan after Merrill left, and it's our boy Josmael *immediate applaues*. Josmael says all he says in canon and how Sarebaas kidnapped his beloved while stealing the mask the clan. He teams up with Cairn and Tallis to rescue her. We also discover that he's one of the few people in the clan who stil likes Merrill and since she left and he was made the new First he has been anxious about having to fill her hyper-competent shoes.

-Yeah that was just me using the movie to give Merrill a friend in her people so what.

-Merrill says she has to return to the city but tells Josmael to keep her updated and he thanks her for caring.

-Cairn and Tallis say to Josmael that he cant come cuz they can't babysit him to which he answers with gentle determination that he doesn't need any babysitting and shows him magic.

-Cairn can't work with apostates blablabla.

-Tallis calls out Cairn for his anti-magic sentiment and says her "people" don't judge magic (which is bullshit but from her pov is the truth). Then she stabs Josmael to make him heal himself and prove himself to them.

-I take a pause because the water in the bath is getting cold and this post is getting too long, so i'll post this rewrite in parts.
